What is Minimoog Model D Synthesizer? Description of Minimoog Model D Synthesizer

The Minimoog Model D App is a software transmutation of the world’s first portable synthesizer, the Minimoog Model D®. Anyone can jump in and play with over 160 included presets or lay fingers to the controls and begin exploring vast magical realms of creative potential for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Mac.

The Minimoog Model D App incorporates a number of inspiring sound creation tools and capabilities not present on its analog antecedent. New functions include the ability to play chords with up to four-note polyphony, an easy-to-use arpeggiator for rhythmic pattern creation, a real time looping recorder with unlimited overdubbing capacity, a tempo-synchronizable stereo ping pong delay module, and the Bender -- a wide-range stereo time modulation effect module.

The Minimoog Model D App also supports AUv3 Audio Unit extensions, which allows multiple instances of this powerful instrument to be used simultaneously within compatible iOS apps supporting AUv3.

A BRIEF HISTORY
Introduced by Moog in 1970, the Minimoog Model D served as the archetype for all electronic keyboards that followed. It gave users the ability to design their own sounds, translating imagination into reality. The Minimoog’s portability, affordability and accessibility made it the go-to instrument for musicians looking to expand beyond the traditional sounds of the time. Bernie Worrell used the Minimoog Model D to establish Parliament Funkadelic’s futuristic funk sound. Kraftwerk employed the Minimoog Model D on the successful concept album Autobahn, sparking an entirely new genre. Gary Numan replaced his live band’s guitars with Minimoog Model Ds, creating the prototype for industrial music. The classic sound of the Minimoog Model D can be heard on Bob Marley’s Catch A Fire, Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic; Detailed in the mini-doc series “A Brief History Of The Minimoog”.

Minimoog Model D Synthesizer Pros

Pretty good analog emulation, not the best.As far as VA synths in iOS go there are many to choose from these days, Zeeon, Kauldron, Syntronik, Odysseyi etc. to my ears any way Zeeon is still tops for an analog sound. This is a nice synth either way and heaps of fun to use with a straightforward interface and nice selection of presets. A gripe I have currently is the lack of ability to use IAP sound packs in AUv3 mode. A great addition to their iOS repertoire but they still haven’t bested Animoog. Keep trying..NogreatcrimeVersion: 1.0.2

Started working again 👍It does load as it should in iOS 14 💪.JarekmnVersion: 1.2.12

Minimoog Model D Synthesizer Cons

Hangs to oftenFrequently I will open up the Mini on a new track and it just refuses to make a sound. I can see the keys moving. I check all the knobs to be sure soudn should be coming through. I pull up a known good patch. Silence. I have no other VI that behaves like this. It's to the point where I suconsciously avoid using it. I'll go to Largo or Model 15 instead. I keep hoping the latest update will fix this, but it never does. I don't know what the updates fix. I'd rate it lower but it actually sounds pretty good when it works..CalaverasgrandeVersion: 1.3.34

Great sound UI issueGreat sounding app. Does it sound exactly like the original? Don’t have one here to compare. I borrowed an original 70s minimoog back in the 90s for sampling and got on well with it, great for bass and FX etc. Still use some of those samples to this day. The app. Sounds very nice indeed and can go places some more sophisticated synths can’t. Moog really have paid attention to the sound. However the UI seems to have a bug that’s somehow linked to processor power/memory leakage or something. You open the app up and all is well, the UI responds correctly. You start programming and playing and after a while all the knob responses slow right down and you really have to move your finger on the screen a lot to get them to do anything. Shutdown the app and restart and all is fine again. Really annoying. iPad Pro M1 on iOS 17.1.2. I’m about to update to 17.2 to see if that has any effect..Stanleytrader27Version: 1.3.35
