✓ Don’t BotherMuch like most of Active’s input to the sporting world, sounds like a good thing and shouldn’t be that hard, but executed really badly. Apparently a race that’s been going for 1:13 hasn’t started yet..Toucan66Version: 1.8.5

✓ You had ONE job......and you failed spectacularly. Downloaded the app to follow two friends running the LA marathon in March 2020. Requested to follow them the night before and was accepted by both - all seemed to be working as I could see them geotagged at their home (why this is possible is a mystery, but that’s the least of the app’s problems). Morning of the marathon I open the app to track the runners as I head out to cheer for them on the route, and what do you know, the location tracking is completely missing. No location/status/progress report for either runner. I check the app more than 30 times over the next 3 hours, and not once does the location tracker find them. Twitter suggests this is the norm, as the marathon’s account is flooded with people complaining about the app just flat out not working. People flew across the country to watch their family run and the app singlehandedly ruined the experience. I miss seeing either of them, drive home dejected, and an hour after one of the friends finish and leave the marathon area, they show up on the app again. How do you manage to fail so thoroughly at your central purpose? And ruin so many people’s experience with your utter incompetence?.TuffysghostVersion: 1.8.5

✓ Absolutely uselessDownloaded this app to be able to track my husband as he ran the LA marathon. We have utilized numerous marathon apps over the years and this one had to be the worst! First off the app required that I create a profile that included my DOB which seemed to take forever to enter because you had to use an arrow to go back one month at a time. Then once you had a profile and got into the app there was really no way to track your runner. Thank goodness he had Life360 on! ✓ Irrelevant messages can't be clearedI downloaded the app in order to follow a friend who is running the Brighton Marathon - and I have 20 'messages' waiting for me that a) aren't of any relevance to me as a user b) cannot be cleared without going into each one (not that I should have to!) c) when you do 'read' them, there is no 'read/unread' indicator so the number of unread goes down but you don't know know which is which. You need to let people subscribe to messages they want/need, or at the very least only send messages to participants to people who are actually participating in an event! When I select my race (I also tried others) occurring this Saturday, the app takes me to a map of the entire US with my GPS location. No course map to be found. ✓ Runner tracking doesn’t workI would rate negative stars if I could. Absolute garbage of an app. Fails at its core purpose of tracking runners. Made sure to request following a runner in the LA marathon and confirmed that the runner accepted the request. App notes that I’m “Following” the runner but their location is nowhere to be seen. Good thing we noticed the other 1 star reviews and asked dad to carry his phone with him just in case. He didn’t want to carry the extra weight we’re glad we insisted. Events should completely stop using this app and move to a competitor. ✓ Did not workThree of us used this app at the same time for a virtual 10k event. Mine quit tracking after 0.02 miles, but my time was still going… and I was unable to restart it. Luckily I noticed 1/2 mile in and switched to my Fitness app. My MIL’s crashed after 1 mile and was able to restart hers. But the fact that she had to run an extra mile was a pain. ✓ TerribleIt’s supposed to track the person who’s running in the race so their friends and family can see where they are in the race. It does not do anything like that. All it does is show a line showing the route of the race but never shows where the runner is. What’s the point of that? The app seemed simple enough but come race day and could not be tracked, as a marathon participant he had to sign in and accept a follow request(I guess that is possible when your actively running a marathon). ✓ Don’t recommendI downloaded this app to follow my mom running the LA Marathon. Obviously I was asleep when she left for the race at 4am and sent me the link to the app to track her. ✓ This App Doesn’t WorkIt’s embarrassing to me that an event as large as the LA marathon is using this app. To start, I couldn’t set up an account on the mobile app because it was prompting me to enter my birthday but the drop-down field to enter it wasn’t working. I found a workaround by signing up on my laptop instead. Then, the app description says that there is a gps tracking map where you can track a runner. This is a lie and this feature doesn’t actually exist. To most spectators, this is the single most important feature. I’ve been to large marathons (NYC marathon) and much smaller marathons (smaller cities in California) and all of them have had the ability to track a runner on the map. This app doesn’t even have the course map at all, even WITHOUT a tracking feature, which is also huge a miss. There is no reason for the LA Marathon to be using this app when better ones exist - and judging by the other reviews they’ve been using it for many years. ✓ Predatory app will charge youI got this app because I ran the tough mutter in 2019 and it charged me without my consent because I purchased a tough mutter they had my credit information. A year later and I can’t run any obstacle course or other mud runs because everything shut down due to the pandemic they still charge me in the app for $89 for another years worth of service I will not be able to use.
