Endel: Focus, Sleep, Relax for Negative User Reviews

Super Annoying! I hate it from the first soundAnd purchased 1 year subscription by mistake! 😭.Version: 1.35

Not worth the moneyNot worth the money. Seems like the same types of sounds for each task. Don’t bother buying it. The free version is all you need to figure out what it does..Version: 4.27.1

Developers hide objective reviewsI have really tried to enjoy this app. I love the soothing music tones, and it has really helped me improve my sleep however where I get really stuck. What I really pay for in this app is the Ultradian rhythm guide. The app itself is supposed to provide you with a chart that progresses throughout the day. Firstly, this info is hidden deeply in the app. Next there are widgets that provide you with an at a glance view of where your rhythm currently is. But the widgets are always ALWAYS out of sync! Which messes you up. Should I be resting or going for it!? It has a Mac app. Great…guide charts are also out of sync. The complications on your Apple Watch are also out of sync. I also happen to notice that the Apple Watch is supposed to have a progress bar, but that progress bar seldom works, it only appears to work when you switch watch faces. I was happy to pay for the service, but with the frustrations of trying to fully use the app and having the guide not be more prominent, widgets not syncing. For these reasons, it makes me really reluctant to pay for the app again..Version: 4.15

Charged before due dateNever intended to buy the subscription but I was charged $67, and for nothing, apple says you cannot access your subscription because you asked for a refund. This does not make any sense. The app says to buy a new subscription and I wasted my $67. Endel is useless and greedy..Version: 4.32.3

Wildly over pricedI can’t quite figure out how this app is so expensive. I thought it was ok but the music gets very repetitive and has an almost infuriating to use UI. Edit: in response to the developer: $10 per month is not justifiable. You say it’s based on scientifically proven theories; which theories are applicable to the app? Please cite a peer reviewed study as it seems like you’re using dubious claims to place a super premium price on your app. Edit2: thank you for a link about circadian rhythms. I’m not sure why you sent it, as my queries were around your spurious claims that your app uses scientifically proven theories to work.... something the link fails to provide. Can you please provide peer reviewed journals on the effectiveness of your “AI” or similar soundscapes? That would be interesting reading..Version: 2.2.1

I think this is priced so it’s embarrassing to admit it doesn’t really work.I looked at the in app purchase listing before I downloaded the app. It looked like it might be reasonable because context was missing. $119 a year?! I ended up starting the 7 day free trial, going into iCloud subscription settings and changing it to $2.99 a month. I tried it for 3 days and can honestly say it does less than classical music does. (For me) The fact is that even placebo works about 1/4 of the time so I guess if it’s worth it to you. I found the extreme focus droning kind of like being on an ancient ship as a slave rowing to the beat of a slave masters drum. So if you are used to forced labor, it might work for you. For me, it got annoying very quickly. The UI seems like it doesn’t REALLY care if you are using the correct soundscape for your goal. I found myself trying out the different icons, then realizing that you can switch sounds from sleep, to focus, to calm all from the same starting point without realizing you’ve left the one trying to help you accomplish something. That seems like even the creators know it doesn’t really matter. If you like droning music and have money to spend you might like it. If you have to think to focus instead of turning off your brain, I would go with some Boccherini, Vivaldi, or maybe Dvorak..Version: 4.33.1

Please update the sleepI love the app. So many updates, but the sleep has not changed in over a year. I’d love another sleep option please. 🙏.Version: 4.32.3

Charged for subscription when selecting free trialWatch out for the dark patterns, and not in a good way. I deleted the free trial but still got charged. Apple needs to check this sort of thing before it hits the App Store..Version: 4.26

Fitbit Integration would be greatLiking it so far, a Fitbit data integration would be great as not everyone has an Apple Watch..Version: 1.24

Steep price but if it works for you.I might have been unlucky with my usage but the sounds did all seem the same. I think my week trial was mostly the same weather or I used it mostly after my watch was charging for the night hard to tell. If it helps you noticeably and your using it more often through the day then it may be worth the price, maybe. Seems like many others have the same feelings that it’s a great app for what it is but the prices are way too high. £5 a month, £49 for a year or £90 for a lifetime which is basically the purchase price when you think about it is far too much for what the app offers. Had it been a £10 purchase it might have been fine for me £5 and I probably wouldn’t have hesitated. Sonus island has full unlock for £4 so the subscription thing is not needed in my opinion. Apple may have allowed this practice to start but it’s gone beyond what it was for originally and has turned me away from so many good apps..Version: 1.32

They should offer more to justify the chargeI appreciate that the price comes down to only 2 pounds a month, but I still don’t see a point in paying for a service that you can get for free. Also, you get more variety by using streaming services. With this you’re stuck with a very limited number of sounds. I think they should offer more functionality on the app for it to be worth a subscription fee. That said, I really like the design of the app’s interface. That’s why I’m giving it 2 stars..Version: 1.32

DishonestThe sounds are NOT personalized. I would rate 5 if it didn’t falsely advertise. The sounds are really nice, soothing, and I think they might work. But they are not customizable or personalized. There are four, period. When you first sign on, the first screen gives you the illusion of personalization with some tags you can choose for what you’re doing, but there is no way to bring it back up and edit the tags. Other people Im the room chose the opposite settings and we all have the same four sounds, and no one can go back to the screen we saw when it first opened. I also noticed someone else call3d this out and was given a longwinded answer that doesn’t address the lie and distracts from feedback, misleading the reader to think the review is referring to something else. Just sell it for what it is. It is four lovely sounds, with a gorgeous interface. 5 stars. But if you’re selling me personalized sounds that is just a gross lie. And if I’m wrong, there’s something very wrong with the app. Your promise is not accessible, and the first screen seems to be just for show. You know, a mock-up..Version: 1.32

Aggressive sales tactics.App and the functions are actually awesome. It’s just ironic that the “stress relief” app shoves all the premium features in your face before you can do anything else. Want to get push notifications to better your health? Sure! First 5 notifications are to buy more. Enjoy your stress relieve session? Buy buy buy :) I get they need to make money but it feels like walking into a used car lot with 10 sales guys throwing business cards at you..Version: 4.38.2

Lots of music very similar to this already existsIf you have Apple Music, just listen to the Pure Ambient playlist which has lots of music like this. The Sleep songs weren’t really that relaxing, ASMR works better and you can get that for free on YouTube. Also, why are so many apps requiring monthly or yearly subscriptions? No one likes them. I’d rather pay a single price for an app..Version: 2.2

Not worth the price, and grimes music was the best part...I got this initially because I’ve always wanted an atmospheric album by grimes, and I wanted to try a new ai music generator since I’d found another one, Mubert, interesting. I like the app well enough, but the trial is waaaaaay too short, I don’t mind paying for content, but the price level for somthing like this is absurd. It doesn’t matter that it’s algorithm based, it’s still a soundscape app at the end of the day. You can’t charge more than people are willing to pay. This thing costs nearly as much as an overpriced meditation app for christssake.... and there’s very little content. On top of that, you took out the grimes music dec 10. I stopped using before that date because if this doesn’t have her music I’m not interested. Plain and simple. Put it back and give a longer trial or reduce the price, give a discount to somebody coming back to the app, SOMTHING, and I’d be willing to try it again..Version: 2.2

Expensive for what it isIt’s well-designed and cool. The app is speedy and there’s no bugs… but it’s a bit too expensive. It’s basically a glorified YouTube/Spotify chill out playlist..Version: 3.0.1

Renewal sent me to overdraftWhen I first subscribed to this app it was aroubd 24£. I really enjoyed it even if I didn’t use it super much. This morning I received a notification from my bank stating I had gone in overdraft. I found out the iTunes receipt for 48£. I panicked and thought I got hacked or something. I don’t remember Endel saying anywhere that they were raising the prices so much. Had to move money to my account to avoid paying overdraft charges and have requested a refund. I love Endel and understand it must be expensive to develop, but the amount their asking, especially in this time of the year is absurdly high. I’m sorry but my journey with Endel stops here, I can’t afford su much money for an app subscription in this economy 😞.Version: 3.5.4

Annoying set-upDownloaded and decided to try the 7 day trial but it still took the $10 anyway?! Made sure to click the right option and everything and it still took the payment. Not super happy about that..Version: 4.34

Recent Update CrashesI use this app everyday for focus, mindfulness and sleep. The latest update constantly crashes. Even after delete/reinstall. Kind of the antithesis of its purpose. As an aside, I’ve noticed the ads taking a lot of criticism. While I appreciate the app enough to understand the underlying message, the ads don’t seem well thought out..Version: 4.37.1

Refusing refund when not satisfiedI am completely dissatisfied with this app and the service I received. The money to extend from the trial to the subscription came out on the day that the trial ended which means I did not receive the full week to see if I liked it. Turns out I didn’t, it’s not that great for £49 a year. They have refused to refund me even a after I questioned it. I understand there are free trial agreements to abide by when cancelling (normally 48 hours before end? Which means you actually get five days?) but I imagine this comes under distance selling, so I should have 14 days and you need to give me a refund without me even needing a reason. Life is hard for everyone right now, can’t you be decent and help me pay my gas bill this month instead of punishing me for not cancelling EARLY?!.Version: 4.17

Deluding descriptions.I don’t get in what way this is “personalised”. The app claims that it uses weather, timezone (location), and heartbeat rate. Well, don’t a lot of people have the same data then, except for the heartbeat rate? I’m personally not wearing my Apple Watch so it’s more like I’m listening to the same thing that people in my area are listening to. This might have absolutely nothing to do with individuals for all we know, because there is no way to tell. It might not even be an ‘AI’. Let’s be clear, an algorithmic music generation does not require an AI behind it. The tunes sound good and all but there are tones of apps that do this. This app in particular failed to deliver/convince what it says it does but seemingly get Apple’s recommendations because a famous artist apparently worked on it..Version: 2.2

Valuable but stop this autoplay pleaseI think this is a valuable and fascinating app, however I’ve had to delete it because of its bizarre behaviour. Considering I don’t subscribe to it (but was interested) I was confused a couple of weeks ago when I could hear music coming from somewhere in my house. I was busy trying to work, and ended up having to hunt this noise down - it turns out Endel was just loudly playing music, despite my phone being switched to silent, my phone being on the lock screen and face down, and me having not opted in to this or subscribing to the platform at all. It’s just done it again in the middle of a meeting. I wouldn’t mind if it popped up asking “would you like to listen to a live session?” or something. It’s very odd (but if there’s a way to switch off this random ‘play at any time’ feature I’d be interested in downloading again)..Version: 4.32

Terrible customer serviceI enjoyed the app until I had a problem…customer service is slow and didn’t even read my question, answering with a stock reply that didn’t help my issue at all. My subscription then completely disappeared (my question was about billing which was unclear on the website, where I had signed up - nothing to do with the app)..Version: 4.19

Not worth paying for this. Not effective visual and practice and music for this as baby is playing. Stupidity Thank you for your response. not interested. I paid $9 AUD wasted. Apple company won’t refund.Version: 1.32

Abuse warningYou want to give a 7 day free trial to someone with ADHD, that automatically charges them a huge sum after 7 days if they forget to cancel. You claim to understand ADHD and suggest you want to help but you are totally willing to take advantage of a vulnerable group of people. If you’re so good, give your free trial and then ask us to take a second action to sign up rather than opt out. I know myself- I won’t remember to cancel if I don’t like it, so I can’t risk it. But I very nearly signed up because I hadn’t noticed it wasn’t free. To me, this makes you scum for taking advantage and trying to trick me- I’ll never know if your product is good because I no longer trust you enough to try it..Version: 4.39.2

Wanted to love it.I truly wanted to fall in LOVE this beautiful app. I am / was entranced by its didn’t because it’s sleek and stunning graphics and I hoped to instill it into my nightly routine, and potentially beyond! Unfortunately it’s just not as easy to use as I need it to be in terms of figuring out the functionality, options and settings. Not visually intuitive, so I looked for some documentation to help me learn it. Within the app, I couldn’t find any guidance / support to teach me where things are (I do have experience using a lot of apps, so I did look around in the usual spots to try to find any help for users- no dice). Is it just me? It is a stunningly beautiful app, with top notch audio and visuals. However I found it really lacking in the department of actual intuitive usability. Maybe I’m missing something. But this is my experience with it. Clearly others can figure it out, but I didnt, and I gave up..Version: 4.11.1

Warning!!!PLEASE!!! Do NOT open this app unless u like being automatically forced into a subscription without you even having to decide. From the moment you open the app they put you on a trial and give you no way to cancel it. Doesn’t show up in the subscription part of your account setting. Can’t cancel it via app or any other option. They take u step by step explaining how to cancel or unsubscribe but when u get there there’s nothing to cancel. . Apps great though if you don’t mind being forced into a subscription/trial ***Update*** I’ll write again since i can’t find my review nor is my issue resolved. It’s flawed. No app should be able to put you on a trial soon as you open it. A trial doesn’t show up in your subscriptions yet the only information they give you is how to cancel a subscription in which your trial won’t even pop up until you’ve been charged..that is bad business..Version: 2.3

Can’t open :(I used to really value this app, particularly for sleep. But for the last few weeks the app was very slow to open and sometimes crashed after displaying the new annoying “lifetime discount” full-screen advert. Now for the last couple of days it crashes as soon as I try to open it. I miss the better sleep and pleasant morning wake-up. I hope it’ll be fixed or I’ll have to cancel my subscription :(.Version: 4.39.2

We had a good free version before, now its pay or nothingUsed to be a good app, where there was a free section that covered the basic soundscapes like sleep or focus, and more diverse soundscapes like evening cooldown for a price. Now it’s pay or nothing. Bring back the basic features for free. Please. It’s a really good app for focus but now it’s of no use because I’m a student and I don’t have any money..Version: 4.35

BloatedEndel is ruined by an increasingly bloated UI that is antithetical to the products intended mission. Good products generally have good design, and if well executed this should generally lead to success! Endel’s product managers and higher ups don’t seem to have the confidence to focus on the long term quality of the app, letting their team implement the best possible design and allowing it to speak for itself and build strong customer relationships over time. Instead they’re clearly data obsessed and highly reactionary. Incessant promotional banners stop you from using the app to do what you’ve paid for it to do, discouraging natural discovery and engagement with new features. User interface seems driven by quantitative analysis and is completely changed each time the user has opportunity to become used to it. The features aren’t well marketed and this bleeds through onto their design and implementation, making it difficult to understand what it’s possible to do in the app, how to do it, and why any of it is worth using. I may as well just save recordings of the soundscapes I like and save them to my iTunes library - that would be far better of an experience at this stage 😒 Death by analysis. This is a bloated and schizophrenic product that is an absolute chore to use..Version: 4.21.1

Horrible App. Feel Conned!I have NO idea whether I’m on a ‘free’ trial with this app or not. I’m assuming I am as I’m now able to review it. You are slowly lured into the app, thinking... one more tap and I’ll get to see what this app is all about... then BOOM! You’re caught. So I THINK I must be in the free trial, trouble is, it doesn’t show up, using the apps instructions, the ability to cancel the trial or STOP PAID subscription. So it looks like regardless of whether you delete the app (which I did) then reinstalled to see HOW TO STOP AUTOMATIC RENEWAL... there is NO WAY to stop it charging you. So rather than HELP (with PTSD) this app has added to mine. It tells you if you press ‘X’ you are agreeing to the ‘free’ trial but at the same time you can’t go back and undo anything you can only go ‘forward’ and are FORCED to commit to the trial because the only way you can close the set-up page is to click on the ‘X’ Then as you are frantically trying to figure out how to stop any paid subscription. The hellish supposedly relaxing ‘wail’ of the app starts (and won’t stop even if you switch apps). AVOID! Beyond STRESSFUL!.Version: 1.32

Pay wallIt says that my trial has ended just as I entered the app. There is no free versions. Doesn’t let you use unless you pay a lot..Version: 1.31.2

New update removed the free options.I was really enjoying this app, I used it to help me sleep. I’m a restless sleeper. I enjoyed it and was considering getting a paid subscription when I could afford it, but this new update totally rendered it useless without a sub. In your own description of the app you tell us how to use the free version, why did you take it away? So disappointed..Version: 4.35

DeceivingThe description says you do not need to pay or use a trial, that you can use it for free. I filled up the questions and sign in and I can't close the page where it asks you to subscribe. I closed the app and reopened it and the entire questions have to be filled up again. The app clearly said there was a free version not a trial, I feel deceived..Version: 4.32.3

What the?I downloaded this, opened it and it was a black screen. After a few minutes of randomly tapping at the screen it started playing sounds and I couldn’t turn it off except by closing the app..Version: 4.26

WhatWhy do I suddenly have to pay for everything??? Where is the free sounds like sleep??.Version: 4.35

Ok, but useless without payingSome cool sound options and AI music stuff. But after the trail expires you can’t use the app. Pay wall.Version: 1.29

Nice music, but way too expensiveThis app produces some relaxing repetitive algorithmically generated music. I enjoyed using it but didn’t keep the subscription because it is just too expensive for what it is. Once the algorithm is set in motion the company really isn’t doing anything to produce new content so it’s not clear to me how they justify the price. The interface design is stylish, but it’s not really clear how the music or screen respond to inputs. Any “interaction” gets boring pretty quick. If this was $2 a month maybe but they are charging around the same as the major streaming platforms!.Version: 2.2

OofToo many paywalls.Version: 4.18

Beware. You will be charged twiceApple and Endel both charged me for an annual subscription. No customer service response for 2 weeks..Version: 4.38.2

Don’t see what is personalised hereEDIT: Copy pasted response below shows how disconnected their support and development teams are. The sounds are ok. No change when I was running on treadmill vs when I was writing emails vs when I was sleeping. So don’t see what the smartness or algorithm it is the developers talk about. Also thought I’ll subscribe for a year but the so called 50% off for new users is literally if you subscribe in 24h. How on earth do they expect their app to be tried and subscribed in 24h when clearly for nearly a week the app or algorithm is incapable of doing anything smart with my listening or routines?!.Version: 2.2.1

Cool idea but bad UIThe UI is really confusing, it’s not helped by the fact the sounds fade so gradually when you change the mood I found myself hitting a button 5/6 times thinking it hadn’t worked, the sounds are absolutely fantastic though, but I just found the app to be quite vaugue and not direct enough in terms of know where you were, what you were doing and I think there are too many menus. Colour theming and a cleaner menu would be a good idea. Drop the animated visuals, I’m not looking at the device when using the app I’m doing something else, that’ll make it way less cluttered..Version: 4.36.2

The soundscapes are great but so many adverts!I’ve been using Endel for a couple of years and really enjoy the soundscapes. I use them to relax and find many of them well adjusted and calming. It there are far too many adverts these days. This is not a free product, but I still have to dismiss a promotion share or half price offer every time I start the app—sometimes more than one if I choose the wrong sounds to listen to. I’m going to look for an alternative before my subscription renews again..Version: 4.26

You need a save soundscape buttonVery frustrated I can’t save the soundscapes I like. A lot of the sounds I find very meh but there have been a couple I absolutely loved and wished I could save to listen to daily. I accidentally pressed ‘reframe soundscape’ when looking for a save feature and accidentally recalibrated the sounds to something I hated. This seems like such a simple feature, why isn’t it on the app?.Version: 4.33.1

Was good before until some stuff happenedApp is good except for the free trial of 7 days is a lie and you pay the annual price immediately, and the app is always crashing on launch after first open (uninstalled+reinstalled as well). On an iPhone 12 pro max..Version: 3.8

Just getting startedHad some hiccups with onboarding and subscriptions. also, please allow users to skip the onboarding flow. please stop pesting to share with friends. i don't really want to always see that in the interface..Version: 4.34

Not neurodivergent friendlyThe black and white with the moving graphics is too much/hard on the eyes. It’s also not easy to navigate and is not intuitive. Spent a few minutes trying to figure it out but found it frustrating. Deleted it..Version: 4.34

Nice but misses the markI’m new to the idea of using mindfulness, but know what it is and how it’s supposed to help with mental wellbeing. So I was looking for an app to help me get on board and saw Endel as a featured app within the Health category. It was among a few apps I’ve tried to as my self imposed introduction and I’ve found that while Endel is a beautiful app in its own right, it just doesn’t offer a great deal. Endel uses music as aides the help you relax, sleep or focus. It’s nothing new but the music itself surprisingly well executed. My main argument against the app though is that the music — which is what you’re paying for — is no different than what you can find through various record labels such as Kranky and some of their artists such as Loscil and Stars of the Lid. When I realised how familiar the sounds are, the thought of paying a subscription made me raise an eyebrow and just switch to a streaming services that I’m paying for anyway. It might be worth a flat fee, but not a subscription when you can find the practically the same content else where at a more cost-effective price..Version: 1.31.1

Needs to be more accessible.I was recommended this app by a friend as a focus aid and although the sounds are great I find the app almost unusable. I suspect many potential users will be neurodivergent like myself and share visual processing issues. There needs to be a option to switch it out of the black and white layout and clear labelling. I couldn’t use speech software because of all the pictures instead of text options. I also think that’s there’s a certain irony to an app that’s meant to help focus and relaxation sending you multiple notifications whilst using it. This could be a 5/5 app if you just thought about access over aesthetics..Version: 4.26

Would give it 0 starsCaution this app automatically signs you up to a 7 day trial. I tried exiting it and removing the subscription but have still been charged..Version: 1.36.3

It’s good, but not worth the priceHonestly, I was expecting much more for the price tag. It’s worth maybe $10? Price the app appropriately and reach more people. The content is good, however; for the relatively small amount of content (which is repetitive) provided by this app it is WILDLY overpriced..Version: 3.3.2

FraudulentBe watchful. Fraudulently charged subscription..Version: 4.32.2

Charged for a free trialUPDATED BASED ON RESPONSE: I did pick the trial week. I’m very capable of reading. Also most subscription apps have the same model, I’ve never had an issue. Only this one. I heard good things so I downloaded and signed up for the 7 day free trial to check it out. Didn’t actually get to try the app. They charged my account the moment I signed up for the trial, instead of after 7 days as advertised. So I had to waste time googling how to claim a refund and writing out a claim to the App Store. Didn’t really feel so calm and relaxed after that. In fact I felt more stressed than I did before signing up! I’ve since received my refund. That made me feel calmer. I’ve also deleted the app, that made me feel relaxed. Just can’t trust a company that plays with money like that..Version: 4.9

It’s okayI don’t dislike the app, and I did enjoy using it. However, my takeaway is this is primarily a collection of ambient music/ soubdscapes coupled with a pretty and visually pleasing graphics. I don't know if this app constitutes as AI. More likely at best it may read your health info and do “if-then” logic. That doesn't seem to me like real AI, actual learning intelligence. More like the app reads a set of variables such as time of day, heart rate, etc. Then running a routine determines what to play outlined by a group of instructions. Would I pay $50+ a year? No! Would I pay $25 ? Maybe. But like many others I am sick of all the subscriptions. I do believe an individual can create similair curated playlists with Apple Music, or most other music subscription services. The advantage here the app is doing much if the curating..Version: 4.17

Wakes you up in the nightI loved this app and used it for sleep on a regular basis, until one night the Sleep mode started playing loud, chiming music- basically an alarm- about an hour after sleeping. The same thing happened the next night I used it. Did someone working there sabotage the Sleep mode? Endel says they’ve fixed this but I don’t trust their app anymore. I could no longer go to sleep listening to Endel without expecting this might happen. They should have responded publicly to explain such a huge issue as their Sleep mode playing alarm sounds in the night. Instead they didn’t answer publicly to any comments and quietly took a few days to update it, providing no explanation how that could happen..Version: 3.4.2

I’m sure it’s great when it doesn’t crashI’m using the paid version of this app but unfortunately can’t see any value, as every time I try to access the paid area (my guide) the app crashes. I’ve been in touch via support but haven’t heard back, so looks like I’ve wasted my $10. Won’t be continuing my subscription..Version: 3.3.2

Great app too much marketingI enjoyed the paid subscription of the app for a year. However, there is no reason I should be bombarded with ads to get my friends in it if I am a paid member, is there? After a while it became painful as you see it on every screen. Second feedback, the paid subscription will only give you more options, but I really ended up only using the sleep, move and focus mode, the rest is superflous so you can go with the free version really. Last, yes it is scientifically proven and it the app price is hefty for what promises and what it actually does and the amount of times it fails to wake me up from power naps.....Version: 4.31

HorribleCustomer service is awful. I wrote in to assist me with an issue and they completely failed to do so. Their response was so inappropriate and condescending. I’m appalled that a business that promotes well being treats their listeners with so much disrespect. The music all sounds the same and the app is hard to operate. The choices are an endless stream of the same dark and depressing music. I would not recommend this app to anyone looking to improve their mental health. My experience with the staff was so frustrating and stressful. Surely not the experience I’d expect from a mental wellness team. The music is ineffective to put me in a state of mind where I am calmer. The sounds are irritating and the production quality is poor. Sounds like someone is running this operation out of their basement. DON’T SUBSCRIBE to this. It’s a waste of money and I can assure you the people behind this app are complete frauds..Version: 4.21.1

Be careful, they taking money without a subscriptionI wanted to try this app but i made sure to remove the trial before the period ends but they still took my money (80AUD) from my account. I tried to contact the business few times but i did not receive any response from them. Very poor customer service and scam. Be careful when you trying this app..Version: 4.10.1

Expensive….for what exactly? You removed my review because it didn’t support your criteria for a negative review? Mention today’s problems in the world and how apps like this could help those who really need it but instead are required to fork out money that most don’t have. Good job..Version: 3.4

Zero stars if I couldFirst I paid the +40 bux cause you get no other choice. Then I try to connect my speakers through airplay, where I can connect everything audio, everything but Endel. On top of it with the last update as of dec 8., IT DOES NOT EVEN START anymore. Did I say that they have no Apple Watch app??? Well, it all looks cool, but definitely they deserve NO MONEY!!!.Version: 4.37.2

The albums are betterI was really disappointed by this - overall I don’t think it adds much more than the music albums Endel has released, which are included with Apple Music. Visually the phone app is fiddly to use - it’s hard to understand which settings change the sound versus change the scenario. E.g. it can get stuck in a state where it thinks you want to “relax” while “fast walking”. 🤷 I found that the musical sounds are too repetitive for most contexts other than work. The nature sounds are very limited and sound synthetic. And to my ears, the “wiggly wisdom” voice is just creepy. 😒 The Apple Watch app is a whole other world of confusing design: ❌ It has a graph, which looks like it should be interactive, but isn’t. ❌ It has a rotating arrow, which looks like a compass but isn’t. (Why couldn’t energy level be represented by a dot that moves along the graph?) ❌ It tries to retrieve data on location and weather, but that doesn’t work. (This is a known longstanding bug.) ❌ The play/pause button is fiddly to use because it doubles as a button to select sounds. ❌ The difference between “companion” and “standalone” modes is confusingly presented because after you select a mode, you press “cancel”, which implies the selection hasn’t been applied. Overall it’s an interesting concept but I think the Endel albums are much easier to enjoy than the phone and watch apps..Version: 4.33.1

Amazing but too expensiveI loved this app, I had it for 4 days before I deleted it. I would have lived to keep this app but it’s just far too expensive for what it actually offers, if you want a life time subscription it costs over £80, which is just so far beyond reasonable it’s nearly insulting. I really wished I could have kept this app, but I just can’t afford to pay such a high price for what is essentially a few different songs to play to help you sleep. Another reason I wouldnt buy it even if I could afford it, is due to the fact I only use 1 of the few songs it actually has anyway, so I’d essentially be paying monthly for a single song. I wish this was more affordable, or maybe even offered deals where you could buy access to a single one of the options for a reduced price, if it was offered like that I might have considered it, but sadly with the cost it is currently, it’s I’d far too much for me to part with for what this app offers..Version: 2.0

Constant upsell - after I’ve subscribed for a yearI’ve just paid them a wodge of money and yet the app always starts with an upsell screen. Every time..Version: 4.39.2

Terrible interfaceGreat sounds, I use it it all the time for work or ambient home music or sometimes for walks. But the UI is terrible. There are about 15 circles with random pictures, no labels, so I have to click the circle and see if I guess right. And that goes for many elements on the screen. The UI is very mysterious. I click on a thing: what will happen? A new music track will play? A new page with info will open? Will a button to close it and go back be on the bottom? On top? Will it be an X icon or should I look for a different button like Done? Will it be a Cancel? Or will it be a back arrow on the bottom? The UI is a terrible mess. I use the product for so long, and every time I still feel like Indiana Jones exploring an ancient temple full of booby traps..Version: 4.28.1

Interesting app but…As soon as I had configured the app but not used it a window opened with a 50% discount—stating this offer would not be available again. I’ve used the app yet—so how can I decide if I wanted to subscribe to it? I like the app but I’m not sure how the features like location, health, sleep would benefit me since I disabled everything. I don’t have an Apple Watch, I don’t want to use location tracking and I never sleep with any kind of device. A simple sound generator for working and relaxing is all I need..Version: 1.6

I’m just not sureSo I’ve subscribed, but I’m not sure that was a wise decision. My first gripe is that I seem to not be able to run the app on both my iPhone and iPad. I’m not sure if every app offers the option of syncing between devices, but certainly every app I have used and come across does offer this basic feature. The way I move between my devices, this is more often than not a deal breaker for me. Also, on my iPhone app, I seem to not have an option of logging in using iOS. As for the ultradian rhythm, I can’t seem to find any info. on what actually the science is behind this, and how these rhythms are estimated by the app. In fact I’m a little bemused as to the whole science behind the app, and what actually sets it apart (that would be noticeable to me). At the moment, the app seems to function for me as a simple noise generator (albeit quite a nice cosmic noise) which doesn’t justify the price..Version: 1.32

Eerie VibesI am using an Apple Watch and have health data stored to the extent that I believe there should be an adequately suited soundscape right away. I need to sleep and I saw this ad and thought it would help. However the music made me feel more awake and has eerie vibes. The way the sound waves are visualized when I press the screen in sleep mode seems too active for the sleeping state and the sound produced does not feel intuitive but more randomly generated. Like I could not play the screen like a hand pan if I wanted to, the notes would just change and I’d be lost. Read some other reviews. Honestly feels like a soundscape to me but I’m just playing devils advocate and a healthy skeptic. Trying something different now, thank you for the opportunity but I felt mislead and shall take my journey for sleep elsewhere. Maybe pull a safe last resort which I do not want to have to do... to help me fall asleep 😴 Best of luck, you seem like a cool, genuine dude. ✌️.Version: 1.15

Cancelled and still got chargedWrote to customer service and had no response..Version: 4.28.1

PriceThank you for your response advising you are willing to offer a 50% discount for new users; however, $200 for a lifetime subscription ($400 full price) is absolute insanity considering I’m a student and mainly want to use this app to study. This is especially the case given I can search calming music for free. I appreciate a lot of work and research has gone into the app development and personalisation software, but surely you could prioritise making the app accessible to a larger audience for an affordable price before spending your budget on big name celebrity collaborations? I’m not even inclined nor tempted to invest in your short term subscription options for the price currently offered while the app is, according to you, still in it’s early development stages..Version: 3.1.1

What’s up with battery usage???I like endel and have been using it for a year or two now, most often for its meditation feature. the free version is pretty great and the paid version last i had it was good too. HOWEVER when i use this app it DRAINS my battery. real life example and what compelled me to write this review: my phone was at 100% this morning, and with 12 minutes on the meditation feature and three minutes TOTAL on any other apps for the day, my phone has been drained to ONE PERCENT. can you guys please fix whatever is causing such a dramatic battery drain???? twelve minutes with ANY app open should not kill my fully charged phone. thx xx.Version: 4.35

I found a issueI have tried your app for a few nights now. I get to sleep fast but the problem I encountered is this. If a wake up at 4am or 5am it doesn’t help me get back to sleep. At that time the app is just playing a white noise background which doesn’t work for me to fall asleep listening to. I could not figure out any way to switch the app back to the go to sleep sounds. As well I find the app navigation confusing and difficult to find menus and settings..Version: 4.33.1

Please fix the Mac app so it works with AirPlay shared speakersI love Endel, but there are some annoying kinks: - The Mac App breaks AirPlay as soon as the sound starts, and only supports single AirPlay output - Background mode, which would be the best for AirPlay doesn't work on AirPlay (if background were available, I could leave Endel playing all day through the speakers...and it would also then be able to sync with headphones) - The Mac App doesn't have any of the visuals from the iPad, it could sync with homekit for adaptive focus lighting too...sound and lights would enhance this!! - The Siri shortcuts end up being the same as playlist titles on Apple Music...wouldn't it be simpler if it were 'hey siri, endel focus' of even 'hey siri, start focus'...trying to say Endel to siri to change them ends up with lots of corrections to make! - The stats are a bit invasive at times, sometimes I really want to just start something in Endel, but the popup that comes up gets in the way...have it there, but let me click on it.Version: 4.31

Not compatible? This app looks really cool but I can’t really see if it is because it does not work. Am I doing something wrong or does the app work? I don’t know but could you please inspect this thank you PS: I’m on iPad mini.Version: 1.31.1

Won’t let me playI got recommended this app from a friend and after downloading I realised that every time I click the play button to play sounds the app immediately pauses it again. I can’t play any sounds or swap out of relax mode, please help.Version: 1.26

Same Music No UpdatesFirst off if everything went as expected I would have given the app a 5 star rating. I used this app for getting to sleep. After the demo period I paid the $49, reluctantly , but expecting more music choices within the specific area to be soothed, which in my case was the sleep area. Even after paying for the app the sleep music remains the exact same. That in it self kept me from falling asleep. I am giving this app two stars because the music has been the same thing without any changes. There is no indication anywhere that I read that updates come out only when the music is finished. There are no choices and you’ll listen to the same thing over and over. I requested a refund due to no additional selections although the documentation implies it..Version: 3.0.1

Dishonest pricing infoThe app is good, but as a matter of principle I make sure my subscriptions do not automatically renew so I can keep on top of my finances. So I tried the free one week trial and then one day after it ends I decide I’ll pay the $35 for one year, except it’s no longer $35, it’s now $70. Nowhere was this communicated that $35 was a limited time offer. Sorry but $70 is a lot, and you didn’t communicate that this would be the price if I didn’t automatically renew after the one week trial..Version: 2.2.1

Subscription requiredThere’s no point to this app unless you have a subscription. You can’t even browse the app to see anything. You must subscribe..Version: 3.1.1

Hard to useYou can’t set an alarm and a count down at same time. Once you set the alarm, you can touch nowhere else but’ cancel’. That’s stupid. Also once you set the count down. The next time to touch the clock sign, is to stop the count down. But the clock sign is the only way to set the alarm. That’s way too stupid,I’m speechless. I’m not saying the sound doesn’t work, I’m just saying devs really need to improve the UI.Version: 4.18

Needs feedback feature for the auto play soundsI am still getting acquainted with the app, and I do not find it particularly user friendly, sorry. There are all sorts of buttons, and if you accidentally press some of them it takes you through a set up cycle you just can’t cancel, which is really annoying if you want just quickly change something. The auto play idea is very good, but it needs some sort of feedback function, which would allow you to skip sounds you don’t like and the app will then remember your settings. When I started the auto play today for the first time it had some weird pulsing sound, which made me want to vomit, I found the frequency of the pulsations coupled with the weird plucking quality of the sound really revolting and unbearable. I attempted to quickly change the sound or somehow tune it to get rid of this, but the whole app had frozen and the only thing I could do is to close it and reopen and try again. I do like the app and most of the sounds I found really calming, but the above combination really had an awful effect on me, I am a bit worried it will activate again somehow..Version: 4.19

Hard no because of privacy concernsBig privacy concerns with sharing heart rate and location + “third party advertising” stated in App Store privacy report..Version: 4.31

Great potentialApp seems very slick, was happy with idea of subscription since ads in something like this would rather defeat the point! Also, very happy to support developers who make an interesting and usable product :) However, the app would not work in standalone mode on a series 4 watch which, whilst a nuisance, isn’t necessarily a show-stopper. What is a show-stopper for an app with a nearly £50 per year sub is a complete absence of response to a support request about the issue. I still get marketing emails, however… Sorry guys, great app, but cannot justify subscription when support requests go unanswered. But good luck with the app, it was great when it did work!.Version: 3.9

Free trialKind of threw me off with the “7 day free trial” as soon as I signed up. I get it that you folks gotta make money though. 🤷🏻‍♀️.Version: 1.30

Very pretty, poor UIGot that app after seeing an advert for it on social media. Right off the bat, the cool animations shown in the advert don't appear to exist in the app. Unless they are hidden behind some of its many unintuitive features. Icons don't represent anything remotely related to what they link to, and it takes so long for anything to change after tapping on one that I often wonder whether anything actually happened... And the few features that actually let you adapt what is going on only do so in an extremely limited capacity: want to have the sound of rain AND of a crackling fire? Nope, they are in non-adjacent squares and therefore can't cohabitate. All these design choices seem to indicate the app was created with an emphasis on aesthetics over functionality or ease of use. Which is unfortunate for any app, but possibly even more so for a purely sound-based app that isn't meant to be looked at beyond setting it up..Version: 4.26

Just read another reviewJust read this happened to someone else but for only $40 the pricks to $80 off me dont they understand cancel bro didnt even have it installed for weeks ffs.Version: 4.12.1

"home" screen not welcomingI cannot even choose what i am greeted by when i open the app :( i really enjoyed being greeted by the animations, they were nice. friendly even. but now i get greeted by a wall of explaining which is not needed. Endel is fairly intuitive... if an explanation is wanted, we can simply press the info button. please do not shove it in our faces. its so unnecessary and the fact is there is no option to change what we are greeted by is so jarring. just requesting a toggle option :)) ps i do see that you actively try to improve the app which i appreciate as well as taking the time to read each review.Version: 4.39.3

Good at what it does but increasing frustrationsI like the sounds, but man this app has become so aggressive at trying to get money from me. I just opened the app and it asked me if I wanted to spend $30 just to reskin the visuals of the app. And that $30 was only for one set of reskins, you don’t even get all of them for that price. I get developers have to make money. I was just truly in disbelief at the attempt to charge so much for so incredibly little. Not to mention at the top of my home screen in the app, there’s currently a large banner that says “Didn’t care for Premium? Please share why the subscription didn’t work for you to help Endel get better.” Which would be reasonable…if it weren’t for the fact that I am currently subscribed to Premium, so it makes no sense. I like Endel because the Focus sounds really help me in my work day. The increasing number of distractions to try and make more money off me (on top of what is, let’s be completely honest, a very steep price for the subscription itself—a price I’m willing to pay because nothing else works as well to keep me focused, but a price that is still quite hefty for what you get)..Version: 4.28.1

Fix audio stutteringThe audio stuttering really ruins the relaxing experience. I’m guessing this occurs in sleep mode where users are layering on additional samples and you are exceeding your sample buffer. Suprisingly, it doesn’t take a lot of touches to overrun your buffer, and this is on an iPad Pro fresh from a reboot! I’d check your telemetrics for memory leaks (that’s happened to me before) or put some kind of polyphony limiter on your sample playback, though I dare say if you have to do that for such a simple music app you’re not using the right audio playback library! Based on performance this feels like it’s a cross-compiled app and not a native one. Might be something worth looking into, devs..Version: 1.31

Good content. Poorly designedThe sounds in the app are very well engineered and work! Negotiating thru the app I found difficult. When exploring it I looked for specific needs and expected to find them layered inside general topics. I also looked for info on the type of noise and specific what's I was listening to. Both of my searches came up w generic answers that were superficial. As I went poking around I was taunted by numerous price point selections that I couldn't find again. I probably would have selected one of them if I could have found it in a table somewhere. Since I didn't, I deleted the app entirely. All this occurred while I wasn't even in the 7 day trial which option I cdnt find again as well. Nice for exploring but perhaps the exploration was extremely limited and thus a negative potential customer response. The reason for an app is use, not figuring how to use it..Version: 4.38.2

Sneaky Subscription BehaviourEnded subscription within free trial period but was still billed. App was not for me and cancelled subscription + uninstalled after a couple hours. Have requested a refund but seeing that other reviewers have also encountered this - pretty disappointed..Version: 4.25

Great, but incredibly expensive and free version lackingI was really enjoying the free version of Endel, but it seems that the available sounds have been reduced even further today. Previously I was able to listen to Focus, Relax and Sleep, but today only Endel Radio is available. A real shame as I was really enjoying it, but the full version is incredibly expensive and I can’t justify the cost..Version: 4.35

Overpriced, and refused a refundThey refused to provide a refund, despite not using the app as I didn't like it. The same day the payment went out I'd contacted, after already attempting to cancel the subscription. They refused to deal with the refund and stated Apple could only do that. I had almost £60 leave my account. Steer clear. The app itself is overpriced and is buggy, with poor wuality UX. There's tons of meditation apps which are much better and who don't charge insane amounts. edit: as i can't respond to Endels response : Yes you did refuse a refund, I asked for immediately. probably best not to lie and scam people and then blame it on apple - you've obviously set it so refunds are not possible through apple, as i've never had an issue recieving one before from other apps :). ALL THE BEST.Version: 4.31

Drops out on HomePodsGreat sounds but playing this on a HomePod has the sounds crackling and constantly dropping in and out. As a comparison, we have not experienced any other app or music EVER performing in this manner. With this constant on/off behaviour the app is anything but relaxing..Version: 2.1

Poor customer feedbackI spent $80 on an annual subscription. Yet after an update my app is stuck in preview mode. I contacted customer support three times and never heard back. And the window of time has passed to get a refund from Apple..Version: 4.21.2

Where is the AI?Beautiful sounds and layout but lacking the personalization they keep hyping up. There’s nothing on this that seems to be “adapting” to me specifically. Sounds like they just created sounds to seamlessly transition into each other on timed loops. I get that these sound compositions have been “scientifically” inspired but where is the personalization to me specifically? The free trial was nice but I feel misled and would not recommend purchasing. I couldn’t find anything online in regards to how this is personalized to an individual. They say it’s based on “circadian rhythm” and “location based” and this study says that while that study says this, but I’m left thinking ok but how, what about this makes it AI? What makes this personalized? They say it’s location based ok but that’s a lot of people in one spot getting the same sounds. How does this personalize on the individual level? Maybe I’ll check this out again in the future when it’s more advanced and they’ve figured out to personalize it to the individual person, not just groups of people..Version: 2.2.1
