ShotVision Launch Monitor for Positive User Reviews

Mobile Launch MonitorGreat little app for home golf now check to see your distances play games with other people. I love it.. Would be great to see ball flight and connect to tv example driving range or actual courses.Version: 1.2.9

Good for a phone appTook this to the driving range to try 3 different drivers. Didn’t expect miracles. Fun to use. Wouldn’t say perfectly accurate but definitely identified good from bad shot distances , very easy to set up and use, didn’t miss one shot, small tripod on concrete range floor may have helped. Now to decide if it’s worth £70 for one year, I’m not sure….Version: 2.4.2

Great value / horrible UIIt’s great to see this kind of functionality come to the masses. The UI is truly awful, navigation is less than intuitive. Don’t supposed this lot did any user trials. Works well on a driver but distances are way off for other clubs, 3 wood was consistently half the actual distances. And what is with the web site, there is nothing there: really ! So FAQs like “what is the stats section about” goes unanswered. Very amateur. Upgrading by one star as they got back to me with some tips. I’ll try them and update as necessary.Version: 2.1.0

Good for irons, poor for woodsI’ve used the app for a couple of weeks and found that for wedges and irons the app is very good. When using driver/3 wood/hybrid it is a little hit and miss and feels inaccurate. Excellent with irons and wedges though as previously stated..Version: 1.3.9

Wow!!I usually don’t give reviews. But I am very impressed with this app. I was using it at the range and a guy there asked about it and asked if he could compare his $500 Rapsodo device to my app. The numbers between the two devices were almost exactly the same. Very impressed with this app..Version: 1.4.2

Definitely worth itIt seemed a bit fiddly at first to set up but once I got the hang of it it’s a breeze. Stand the phone/tablet on a towel with something solid on the towel to rest it against. Put a strong light next to it so the ball appears brighter and hang a black or dark sheet to provide a contrasting background. Make sure the suggested distances are within 6-12 inches and that’s it. I occasionally get a strange distance but if you swipe across on the stats page these can be deleted. The club and ball speeds are always directly and exactly related (depending on club) so for example the 8 iron smash factor is always 1.32 regardless of how good or bad you hit it. Still, for £40 a year it’s fantastic value.Version: 1.3.3

Difficult start but now flying! At first there were plenty of teething problems but with some perseverance and amazing support frothed guys at a shot Vision I absolutely love this app. It has made home practice sessions fun and I have managed to develop my game, learns out my distances and work on controlling my distance all from the comfort of my own garden. The advice about a little tripod for you phone is spot on and once you set up is on point your away! Tried the free trial and then went pro and plan to stay that way until the end of lockdown here on the UK. Some sanity I. These crazy times. Thank all you to the whole team at shot vision!.Version: 1.3.1

Make the AppleWatch interface available pleaseUPDATE 5/3/21: The newest iOS update integrates the AppleWatch interface, I’ll be test driving it tomorrow and let you know my findings, but this is a great step on the right direction for user friendly! Thanks! UPDATE: I received an email in regards to my review from the company, great customer service, i gave it one additional Star for the follow up, however the AppleWatch interface is not out yet, so still no 5 stars from me. When they do that they will definitely get 5+ stars. ORIGINAL POST: I liked it initially, however I must say that there are a few things that can and need to improve, such as: Create an interface with the AppleWatch: 1. So the user does not have to pick up the phone every time he needs to see the data captured. 2. So the user doesn’t have to pick up the phone every time he changes clubs. 3. So that the phone can be put in mute to not disturb other players at the range, because the volume would have to be high enough to listen over all the outdoor noise. Every time you pick up the phone and put it back down to have the risk of not setting it correctly. Also, in a range you are so close to one another that it makes it hard and annoying to go back and forward to see your information..Version: 1.5

Good performanceUpdate- After getting a new iPhone 12 mini, the performance is much much better. It was picking up 90% of shots from wedge through to driver. The numbers and shot placement are representative of what I was seeing on the range. Much much better Edit: previous phone - iPhone 8. This phone is not fast enough to run this app. Just lags and misses most shots..Version: 2.1.9

Second lookAfter a good but fair tongue lashing from the my last 1 star review. Was able to hear instructional video (had ringer on silent). Adjusted distance from phone to ball as instructed. Distances still off substantially from my actuals and spin rate is not consistent enough to trust. For the price it is useful to a degree. Gonna give it a few more sessions to see if I can figure it out..Version: 1.4.2

ExcellentDo I deffo need a Wi-Fi connection ? I’ve only Mobile data where I practice!!!!!.Version: 1.6.0

Works great at my rangeI’ve wanted to add data to my range sessions for awhile. I need a monitor that stands ahead of the ball because there is a hill behind the hitting bays at my range. I hit outdoors using yellow range balls. Set up with a tripod was easier than I expected. Using the app combined with AirPods and an Apple Watch is such a great experience. The distances matched the range markers and flags. The only exception was when I hit a pull shot (an issue I would like to eliminate on my own by not pulling the ball).Version: 1.6.0

Great AppNot sure how accurate the distances are ( I haven’t measured any real shots to compare it )but it does seem consistent. I just set it up on a paint tin and it worked straight away - all the time. I would like it to be able to delete a shot from your average ( it doesn’t update deleted shots) but I am quite impressed with how easy it is you use. Definitely recommend it..Version: 1.3.9

Fantastic Instant FeedbackIt may not be as accurate as the well known flight monitors that cost hundreds and thousands of dollars. It doesn’t have the fancy features that simulate your shot’s flight path. But for about $3 a month, it announces the carry distance that correlate how well you swing your shots. My friends are all amazed at how much I improved..Version: 1.3.2

Great AppWorth Using And Fun And Want To Pay To Get Pro And All The Stats And So Much Cheaper Than A Trackman Or gcquad Worth Downloading..Version: 2.4.2

Worked perfectly!I used it for the first time today and out of approximately 50 shots, it only missed 4 or 5. It seems that if you take the time to set everything up correctly, it will work fine. Great app that provides a lot of useful data..Version: 1.3.9

Decent!Tried this app and was at first not impressed but after a few sessions trying it out I finally started getting some accurate numbers. Best advice I can give is bring a tape measure, use a good tripod and you’ll start seeing more accurate numbers. Great use of Apple Watch to change clubs once you have the device set and getting accurate readings, you can change clubs throughout your practice. Devs - is it possible to see left/right data? Also is it possible to use virtual mapping to help the user set up proper hit zone or notify the user when the ball is placed properly on the mat?.Version: 1.5.9

Seems goodI’ve only used it once on the local range. Seems fairly accurate compared to my normal yardages with the occasional obvious misread. Can’t comment on spin rates but club head speed seems about right..Version: 1.3.9

Works great!Great concept, looking forward to what comes in the future. Works as advertised. I have a iPhone 11 not sure if that makes a difference..Version: 1.3.8

Hopefully the start of something awesomeBeing able to turn your phone into a launch monitor is something very special. I bought a $90 screen, and hooked up my phone to an old TV and voilà, a little golf simulator in my garage for next to nothing. I really hope the developers plan on linking this to E6 or similar. I’m actually making this review in hopes that they will respond to the question… So let me know! I know lots of people who would adore something like this..Version: 2.4.2

Great app once set upI started with the free trial app which was ok but only gave ball speed. Decided to buy the pro version. Tricky to set up at first but once I got the hang of it it was picking up nearly every shot. Has helped my game no end.Version: 1.3.8

What your iPhone is built for!Super fast iPhone camera set up + powerful iPhone chip + ShotVision app = perfect home launch monitor. Incredible accuracy, lots of useful data and so accessible for the average golfer who doesn’t want to spend massive money on a bespoke launcher. Plus, it shouts out your carry yardage after each shot so you don’t need to keep looking at the screen. I bought the professional version during lockdown and now wouldn’t want to be without it. Well done ShotVision for democratising the launch monitor..Version: 1.6.0

Hit it like a 6yr oldI think theres something wrong me and my mate Joe couldnt hit driver past 200 yards. Then automated lady said “you hit it like a 6 year old” i was very offended to say the least..Version: 1.3.7

Email sentI've sent you a email regarding this product RG.Version: 2.4.1

Ignore the moanersThis is a great app, ignore the moaners. They obviously are technophobes without any perseverance whatsoever. Set the phone up as instructed if not perfect, tweak. It’s not difficult. Great app for normal people..Version: 1.3.2

Amazing appTop quality app, accurate results and good feedback. The setup is a little fiddly at the start but once you nail that, the rest of the app works like a treat. 10/10.Version: 1.3.1

Thank You!Good morning South Africa And Thank You for thinking on us that can not afford those 5000 and more dollars ball trackers or swing tracker or what ever you want to call them. I know that golf is an expensive sport. But if we keep it expensive, soon this sport will die also with the new generation. And believe me there is a lot of good young fellows that can play golf but can’t afford it unless they have a sponsor or a rich dad. And your app is a solution. It’s easy. It works. And it’s fun!!!!! Thank you guys and everyone else that complains is because they didn’t read the instructions or are just jealous of your product. Keep updating it for more fun and effective stuff and it will sure make you guys BIG.Version: 1.4.0

Loving the app!Loving this app! Downloaded it for something to do in lockdown! But it will now become a routine in my practice! The distances are pretty spot on! And great response speed from the support team!! Great app guys well done!!.Version: 1.2.9

Don’t People Follow Directions Anymore?I took this app out to the range and set it up per the instructions. It registered every shot that I was able to hit through the detection zone. The distances were registering very close to what I know and what I was seeing. There is a great video that demonstrates how to properly position the iPhone using things you carry in your bag. Watch it first. It’s really not that hard!.Version: 1.5.2

Getting goodJust started using it in my garden with practice net. Works great from 7 iron and below. Really good with my hybrid..Version: 1.4.2

ReviewI love this it really helped my game But if you could play golf courses that would be awesome.Version: 1.6.0

Is good whilst in lockdownThe app is good, but not sure if I will keep the pro mode after. I know that the distances are not correct as I hit my 7 iron 170 yards and the app is saying 120 yards. There is also a fair bit of variance between the shots with clubs. Good fun, but definitely need to work on the distances of the long irons..Version: 1.3.1

GreatWould love to see some courses for some sim action connected to my projector. 😃.Version: 1.5.5

Very ImpressedI’ve only been using the app for a day but I’m very impressed with the data. I know my yardages and general stats and I was impressed to see how close they are to what I expect..Version: 1.3.1

Works pretty well honestly.Took to the range and honestly 95% of the shots are pretty accurate. But when it tells me I hit my 5iron 280yds it would be nice to be able to remove those shots we all know are incorrect. Otherwise it’s helping me figure out my club gapping well. Any plans to leverage the lidar on the 12 pro for the calibration? Some form of visual representation of the shots would also be pretty cool..Version: 1.4.0

Great appOnly had it a few days but it is proving to be a great app, especially for garden practice during the lockdown. The numbers are comparable with expensive radar set ups and the team are super responsive. I mailed them about an issue I have with seeing historical session data and they responded immediately..Version: 1.2.7

Great product but room to improveA great app for the price, irons etc are accurate for distances. 3 hybrid seems on the money also, driver I think may need some improvement in accuracy of spin and distance carried. However regardless of actual distance, I can tell when I hit a ball sweetly with the drive ( or any club) that the distance is further than trying to hit the cover off the ball. So for me getting my rhythm will show me how much better I can hit the ball. Then take to course and a few practice hits will get me my distance. Only trialled for a week but am going to purchase for 12 months. Hoping for some minor improvements as the boys get some cash in , cheers and thanks from Boof in Australia..Version: 1.3.9

Love the app, but not 100% on the numbers.I love and it’s ease of use, but after hitting into a net I took it to a range, first shot, 7i went 200m, problem was it was a mis-hit and was luck to make the 50m marker. Some numbers seem fine, others seem way off..Version: 1.3.4

Full version is very goodWas able to go through the full version of the app and whilst there are still adjustments to be made I found it very good. Especially on the wedges. I was able to hit my numbers almost bang on most of the time. Of course just like many of the launch monitors it is prone to a misread here and there but you can simply delete that and get an accurate reading on the averages. Very excited to take these numbers on course and see how dialed in they are..Version: 1.3.1

GAMECHANGER!This app is gonna change the gamble of amateur golf. For 10$ you get your total and carry within 3-5 yards each time. Didn’t think it would be this accurate but it’s spot on ! Well done !.Version: 1.3.5

Great toolThis is a great tool to get a general idea of your distances for each club. It is a good purchase for any golfer wanting to improve their game..Version: 1.4.2

Great golf app!Great golf app especially compared to other launch monitors out there for many times the cost. I found setup & placement to be easy - after watching their short setup video (2 mins). I have a mini tripod setup and ensured the mat was not shaking the setup. Out of 50 shots it recorded 48 - better than I expected. Great insight stats for folks interested in that part of the game. Note - it does use a decent amount of phone battery (1 year old iphoneSE) went from 90% to 50% after 45 mins..Version: 1.6.0

Range sessions enhancedFor the money this app is brilliant and makes going to the range worthwhile, especially as you can focus on specific challenges or targets, it may not be 100% accurate but for the money it’s never going to be perfect..Version: 1.3.5

Luke CarterNow it is actually working after a rocky start, seems to be pretty good and is something to help quell the boredom of lockdown.Version: 1.3.0

Waiting to fully tryHad a quick tryout in the garden now just waiting for golf to start up again for a full session.Version: 1.4.0

Perfect for all levels of golfersThis app is great and provides so much detail, the monthly and yearly subscription is fairly priced. Fully recommend the app for all levels of golfer. Excellent customer service team, who responded and fix a problem I had with the app the very same day. I’m currently stuck at home for 12 weeks so this app has been a life saver in passing the hours. Thank you and keep up the good work..Version: 1.2.7

Update to my previous review (Apr 4)I gave a review on Apr 4. In response, the developers suggested I update the app to the newest version. This latest update drastically improved the overall experience, data consistency and accuracy is better than ever. It is a low cost app is definitely worth it! Good work guys, I like the new Apple Watch integration as well! Looking forward to seeing some of the training and improvement suggestions I made in my first review!.Version: 1.5.1

Great app! Have an idea thoughThis is a great app, especially for free, but I have an idea. There should be a friend section, for where you can add friends and see their best shots. You should also be able to invite them to your own tournament and/or challenges to host with your friends, but you creat them and only your friends can join. You could also be able to message your friends too, and other things like that. All in all, a pretty good app..Version: 1.5.1

BrilliantIgnore all the haters. If it’s setup correctly it works. Yes, it may not be 100% accurate it is from a phone for £6 a month. Works for me though in the garden into a net. Lockdown just got a little easier..Version: 1.2.9

I think I figured it out…When I go to the driving range and when I get a sunbeam to shine in between the camera and the ball, the accuracy and reading falls off. So today I went to the far end of the range were the sun doesn’t reach that area till late in the day. What. A. Difference. My shots were 10 times more consistent and accurate. I am going to my driver fitting in a couple weeks and we are going to use the trackman and Im going to see if my numbers compare. Now I know a trackman is what it is but if ShotVision can be within the ball park I will be more than ecstatic and back in love with this app. You have to make sure the camera is 4ft away (length of your driver) AT ALL TIMES. When going from driver to PW, you have to make sure you adjust the length of where you place the camera relative to where your strike zone is. So either scoot it further up or back depending where you plan on striking the ball. Also, the makers of this app over the past year have been open and receptive to any suggestions and after today I am completely satisfied. Also, I use the new iPhone 13 Pro Max..Version: 1.6.0

No workingI’ve loaded up but it won’t do anything when I press the start.?.Version: 1.2.9

Great customer serviceStruggled to set up at first, but some E-nails with customer support afterwards and we seem good to go. I’d suggest a secure tripod over a stand etc, helps the app/camera to register the ball etc. Some inconsistencies and obviously wrong returns (260 yards carry for a 8-iron)… but that aside fairly happy, will look to use as a method to gap my clubs over the next week or so, will update review to reflect his close that is to my current understanding of carry distances etc..Version: 2.0.2

Cool appSeems to work well and I’m looking forward to using it more, it would be handy if you could merge practice sessions in the feed though.Version: 2.4.1

GoodWill it work with foam balls?.Version: 1.3.1

Loving the lockdown now !Great app ! Makes driving net sessions in the back garden mean something ! Pro version is a must !.Version: 1.2.9

Great App and Support from the folks at ShotVision!Really good and accurate app for the money! Also great support whenever needed from the people at shotvision, really quick at coming back with help which is always good!.Version: 1.4.0

Apple WatchThe app used to be available as a companion app on the Apple Watch, but it isn’t anymore, why?.Version: 2.1.9

I want to like it to I like it alotLatest Review: I was able to get a hitting net and combined Shot Vision with it. It worked like a charm. It is right in line with what I am hitting on the course. Couldn’t be happier. I used my driver this time vs a loft wedge. Paid for the subscription to see how the numbers matched up to my fitting also. It all seemed accurate. 1st Review It truly could be the future. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work after trying for over an hour, and trying multiple things. I reran thru the tutorial 4 times. Tried everything. If it worked I would pay the subscription. I do not have the patience with some one over email to get something to work. I hit over 40 chip shots and could only get 2 shots to register..Version: 1.3.9

Excellent App with Even More Potential...After some initial set-up problems (it was too dark on the first attempt), the app worked brilliantly. It has a great UI and does seem to be fairly accurate. It would be really useful if Apple Watch support could be added and also whether the app can recognise direction as well. That would certainly open up even more applications if it could be integrated with real course data to play virtual golf. Overall, really impressed and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to the developers..Version: 1.4.2

Brilliant launch monitor appOk so it may not be as accurate as the more expensive launch monitors BUT it’s great for the average mid/high handicapper like me who just wants more insight into how far they hit the ball. I use mine in the garden with a net and it works perfectly, I now have better knowledge of carry distances for my irons which will, hopefully, help to lower my scores and get my handicap down. The shot data aspect is good and gives you more information such as club speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, height, carry distance and total distance. If you’re an average golfer like me who wants to improve their game I thoroughly recommend this app..Version: 1.5.5
