Flighty – Live Flight Tracker for Negative User Reviews

UselessAs a frequent traveller I thought this would be a great app to give me early notification of delays. Unfortunately it almost never picks up the tail sign of the plane until it is airborne and therefore shows flights consistently on time, even those with significant delays. It is also poor at providing gate information. Don’t waste your time or money, better information available on the airport website..Version: 3.1.4

Not worked well for meI tried Flightly on a trip to Europe in the summer. Didn’t provide anything useful and was late with gates etc. so maybe it works best for US flights? Well, I’m at JFK back to MAN right now and I’ve known the gate since we check in and Flightly doesn’t have it yet, hours later. The trip to JFK it showed we were late leaving for the whole flight and I ended up archiving the flight to get rid of the error. Me, it doesn’t do anything useful for. I know some love it, so try the week subscription first to see if it works for you..Version: 3.1.4

Needs Work! This is an app I’ve now used on a few occasions and on a few flights. It would be extremely helpful and an amazing app… Should it actually work. I have an iPhone 14 Pro. The features using Dynamic Island are helpful and make life a lot easier. However, on ALL flights I’ve been on - it’s not displayed the gate. Whether that be on the Dynamic Island as a “Live Update” (ironic) or on the actual app itself. The app does also not seem to update when flights are delayed. Right now, my flight has been delayed by 15/20 minutes. The app is still persisting that it’s on time and expected at the time it should have been. Not helpful! Hopefully the team who work on the app can resolve the issues in a speedy manner and I can use the app as intended. This could be a great app!.Version: 2.8.1

Value for money? The app is great and the design nicely done. An Apple watch app/complication would be a great addition. I still believe it’s way too expensive for what it offers. I won’t go ahead with the subscription..Version: 1.1

Since v3.0, it’s gone downhillI travel quite frequently and prior to v3, I enjoyed this app a lot. Everything seemed to work perfectly with the flight notifications, Dynamic Island updates and live activities. Then, v3 came out with a focus on social sharing. IMO, this is completely ruined the app as many things seem to no longer work. Prior to the update, the live activities & Dynamic Island would show my flight three hours out, now I have to make sure I open the app in order to trigger it. Then, quite often the flight information is incorrect, in fact the last two times it showed that my flight departed ~40min early, while I was sitting at the gate before they started boarding. The app also now (remember, after v3) is delayed in showing delays or undelays, while the airlines app’s show more accurate information. I find myself reporting inaccurate information on almost every flight these days. With airlines starting to leverage the iOS features such as live activities, etc, I feel like I’ll start to migrate over to that unless the dev team can go back to their roots of what made this app great..Version: 3.2.0

Just OKTo have to pay $80/ yr for live activities is very very disappointing! This feature should be free or at least a separate minor cost 💲.Version: 2.6.3

Irrelevant for Most, SadlyThis is THE best app for tracking flights, hands down. If you travel more than 12 weeks of the year, get this app. Unfortunately the pricing structure makes it untenable for myself, and I would guess, most flyers. This app is for you if you fly VERY regularly, and ONLY then. I fly occasionally, but having to pay $4 per week, or $8 per trip if it’s more than a week, is too much. I do wish I could regularly be subscribed to this, but at $16 a month this is more expensive than video streaming services I spend way more time with than checking my flight status. I don’t fly 12 weeks of the 52 in a year, so the $48 annual subscription would also be a loss for me. I would ABSOLUTELY pay like $1 per flight or $4 per month to get all the pro features of this. I write this review because I LOVE this app. The UI and UX are simply incredible. The few times I’ve subscribed for a week it’s mostly been because it’s so enjoyable to use this app. I wish I could use it more. Here’s to a more affordable pricing structure for non-frequent fliers. Keep up the great work Flighty, you’re wonderful..Version: 3.3.1

Missing major international airportsI fly for a living. I’ve flown over 60 times this year in over 30 countries. The premium features on Flighty have only worked for 2 of those flights. They should not advertise them without being upfront that it’s still a major work in progress. Additionally, the app is missing major international airports, so I have a number of flights coming up that don’t even show up in the app because of this. The app is also missing certain major airlines, which is frustrating. I reached out to support about these issues 3 times. One time they gave me a 1-sentence reply that had nothing to do with my issue, and the other two times I was ignored. They pump up this app so hard but don’t have any intentions of listening to customer feedback or even being thorough with airlines and airports. As a very frequent international flyer this app is pretty much useless. Maybe if you only fly once or twice a year in the U.S. you’ll have better luck..Version: 2.6.3

UnderwhelmingWith all the “travel blogs” giving incredible reviews, I gave Flighty Pro a try, given that I had multiple flight segments in a week. Results were underwhelming, which is an undertstatement. I received updates from another pro version of a travel tracking app as well as the airline apps , but Flightly Pro consistently failed to provide me with the correct information. It failed to show flight delays even though the delay was clearly posted at the gate. It also showed that there will be an hour delay in the arrival time, even though the flight was 15 minutes early. After this poor performance of Flightly Pro, I did not hesitate in cancelling my Pro subscription..Version: 3.2.0

Features useless without good dataVery disappointing first use of the pro features. No inbound plane tracking, no gate, departure or arrival notification. Flightradar24 had the tail number available 12 hours before departure, no way to add this to the flight in app. Can report missing data but doesn’t seem to be actioned. Features sound promising but if the data quality is this poor, with no ability to manually correct then this app will be a nonstarter. Not in the US, as that seems to make a difference but to be frank that is a poor excuse as the data feeds do exist, but are not being used..Version: 3.3.1

MidToo expensive for what it is, lacks flight update data sometimes. Recently took a flight from Ottawa to Newark that was delayed twice. Flighty kept showing it on time..Version: 3.0.3

Disappointed...In an attempt to squeeze money out of users, a built in function like Live Activities and Dynamic Island useage is now shoved behind a paywall. What is next? Charging people to use MapKit or see their flights in a table?.Version: 3.3.1

Fantastic flight tracker, but tone down the pro ads pleaseThis flight tracker knows more about flights than the flight attendants. I've actually asked flight attendants of flight cancellations or delays and have them tell me "nah you're still good. no flights have been cancelled" only for them to announce it an hour later. Very impressive. With that said the upsell for the premium is a bit much. I don't mind you trying to ask me if I want to purchase premium and laying out the features every now and then, but on the mac app it prompts you around every 10 minutes *even if the app is in the background*. This is EXTREMELY annoying as the icon will bounce on the taskbar until you open the app and close the message. Then repeat every 10 minutes or so. In addition the widget on the iOS lockscreen sometimes shows your flight and sometimes shows "get pro" instead. I get it, you want me to buy pro but replacing basic functionality inconsistantly is very annoying..Version: 3.0.3

Not working , there’s better and cheaperThe app is not working on my iPhone 14 pro max. Calendars events are not working , I have to add flights manually . Strangely , it worked for my first flights , but then suddenly it stopped working . Now the live activities is no more working too. I have to activate/deactivate/activate the option to see the flight. Today it’s 5.55am , and my flight is in two hours , and I have to fight to find why live activity is not showing . Support is not helpful , and I finally discovered that app in the air , does better , with more options and cheaper … I’m very sad I purchased flight on a yearly subscription, not worth at all..Version: 2.8.0

Please clear this upI’m wondering about how the live activities feature works. I thought that the live activities are supposed to start on their own, 3 hours before a flights takeoff, that you’re tracking in the app. I’ve checked and all the flights I’m tracking have live activities turned on. All the settings are on. But for some reason when I’m trying to track friend’s flights, the live activities don’t begin automatically. Then I miss the tracking at times because I might be busy and forget, I don’t see anything on the Lock Screen. Not until I open the app, then the live activities start. So can you clarify, do I have to open the app in order for live activities to begin? Or should they be starting automatically?.Version: 2.6.4

Looks very good, but…So after a few days of using this app, sure, it looks really good with simple user interface with no ad and live activity/dynamic island support, but the cons of this app are much serious than I think which even makes pros less shine. First, just like other made-for-Apple independent developers’ app, the price for subscription is too expensive based on the pro feature it can provide to me. Yearly subscription, OK (but really unhappy that there is no monthly subscription); weekly subscription, too expensive (since it has same price of average month price of yearly subscription) and not all pro feature included; lifetime payment, well, that’s too greedy🫠. If the subscription price is too expensive, that’s fine for me since pro features is not very necessary. But after I import my past flights and used it for my yesterday’s flights, I really disappointed that flight information for most Asian flights (like flight departures and arrives in China, my hometown country, and Thailand, my favourite travel destination) are incorrect or missing (like boarding gate and baggage belt info always missing, and final flight status always be unknown🙃. Compare to my previous flight tracker app, VeryFlight (the most popular flight tracking app in China), Flighty have better design and no annoying features (like flight booking and community) compare to VeryFlight, but for core features like flight tracking, VeryFlight is much better with provided all correct flight info even flight outside China (and in fact, all pro features that Flighty have are all free in VeryFlight). If Flighty fixed missing data problem, I will definitely give 5 stars since I don’t really need subscription, but for now, it just worth 2 stars for me (1 for bottom line, 1 for its design)..Version: 3.0.3

Worst app ever don’t downloadWould give it 0 stars but can’t I’ve been trying to work this app out but says “can’t connect check your internet” I’ve trying everything to get it around it never works.Version: 3.0.3

Have to pay extra to use Live Activities & Dynamic IslandWow these 3rd party apps are making these 2 new standard iPhone features only available to the pro paid version to make extra cash and steal more money from customers. I didn’t buy the iPhone 14 pro to have to pay again to have dynamic island support. Greedy move..Version: 2.6.1

Still a lot to work onImports fail miserably.Version: 3.0.3

Another expensive subscriptionGonna give this a try for a year but $60 seems very steep for an app that uses a lot of publicly available information. My plex lifetime cost is $150 and this app charges $350? The feature set and development costs are nowhere close between those two pieces of software. I really just wish the live activities were in the free tier. Half my flights in Canada are lacking plane age and performance data. Hopefully the app can win me over when I’m flying in a few days but currently the pre-flight feature set isn’t worth the high cost..Version: 3.0.1

Overpriced and doesn’t let you edit informationWhen 80% of the features is locked behind a paywall you expect it to work as expected but sometimes there are a lot of missing information like gates and delays. Even when I was in one of the busiest airports (Hong Kong international airport) these information are still missing. Worse of all, the app doesn’t even let me edit the information that I already have such as gate numbers into the live activity notification. Even App in the Air allows me to do so and their lifetime subscription costs the same as a yearly subscription in flighty..Version: 2.10.2

Not worth itI subscribed just to try it out, thinking that I would see how it worked with my upcoming flight. You claim to be the fastest and giving delay updates. Your updates did not come any quicker than the airlines updates in our notifications. I thought it would be a better app and unfortunately I’m not satisfied. I also want to know why I was charged for a full year when I was just trying it out? It really doesn’t do much for me, I get the same information I need on the airline app.Version: 2.9.2

Way too expensive!!!!This is, without doubt, by far the best designed flight tracking app. But the pricing structure is extortionate!!! I will never subscribe at these prices!!! $1-$2 per month would be more realistic! Especially when the info this apps gives is available elsewhere for free.Version: 3.3.1

Annoying harrassment to upgrade to pro constantlyI recently had the opportunity to use the app and, unfortunately, it left me with a rather frustrating experience. As someone with a background in design and a keen eye for user experience, I was particularly disappointed by the constant barrage of annoying pop-up messages urging users to upgrade to the pro version. The app in question could have been a valuable tool if not for this relentless and intrusive approach to upselling. It's essential for apps to strike a balance between promoting their premium features and respecting the user's experience. In this case, that balance was sorely lacking. I firmly believe that a seamless and enjoyable user experience is paramount. An excessive number of pop-up messages not only disrupt the flow of using the app but also create a negative impression. It's crucial for app developers to adopt a more user-centric approach, providing value to users before aggressively pushing for upgrades. In conclusion, while the app might have had potential, its incessant pop-up messages promoting the pro version greatly detracted from its usability and left me with a less-than-pleasant impression. As someone deeply passionate about design and user experience, I hope that developers can learn from this experience and prioritize a more user-friendly approach in the future..Version: 3.1.1

Poor Tracking and buggyI tried a very expensive weeks trial and won’t be renewing at this time. Pros Lovely design and easy to add flights etc Cons: You don’t have to use the app for two long before the bugs appear. Poor tracking status and live update saying flight is 25 minutes late but look at the app and the plane has already landed. Tracking a regularly scheduled flight for tomorrow and you’ll get updates for that flight today. Data on alerts is just non-sensical. Eg arrival for a location such as Dublin will say +1 which I guess means +1 from GMT but I’m in Dublin so just not relevant to do +1 as it’s confusing. There’s too many bugs to justify the annual subscription which is a shame as I’d like to use but can’t justify paying the subscription fee to be a beta tester for an app that has such little QA..Version: 3.1.4

Beautiful app, fabricated dataThis is a beautiful app - the love activities, Apple Watch complications, and even the notifications at various stages of flight are all fantastic. However I’ve no faith in the app as a result of using it to track my colleague’s flight from Johannesburg to London. Flighty says the flight is 8hr30 from London and has been airborne for 2 hours. The plane, along with my colleague, is currently on the ground at Johannesburg still owing to technical faults. I love the app, but I don’t enjoy clearly fabricated data. Flightradar knows this plane isn’t airborne — what does Flighty think it’s tracking?! Bitterly disappointed as I’ve been a fan for some time but I now question the reliability of what I’m being told..Version: 3.2.0

GoodNice widgets and UI. Missed all delays and gate changes on a recent trip. Would seriously benefit from option to manually update instead of hoping it automatically ingests this info. Unsubscribing.Version: 3.2.0

Not worth the money in EuropeData seems very geared towards the US and frequently the app is well behind data in competitor applications where tail numbers are known well in advance. Good example would be where the incoming flight aircraft is not recognised as the outgoing until almost at takeoff. Subscription fee would be worth it if the app worked as expected but the FAQ seems content to blame third party data. If other apps can get it right then there’s no excuse. I travel through numerous airports with flag carriers so this isn’t isolated. Calendar import isn’t yet fit for purpose either as the syntax doesn’t suit many airline app synchronised formats. So in summary, don’t spend the money if you are in Europe. It’s a beautiful looking app that I’m sure would be valuable if it worked better..Version: 2.10.2

Buggy - too bad it could be greatEmailed flights to track@ do not always get updated to the app....Version: 3.2.0

Decent but glitchesI loved the look of the app and as a frequent flier its seemed ideal. Had the free version but loved the idea of seeing all the previous flights so paid for the annual pro version. The first flights I was due to take a few days ago both showed as cancelled with the bad weather, i asked my company to change the flights to the following day and both flights flew. Same again the following day one showing as cancelled but flew and still showing as cancelled so wont show in my flights. My other half flew tonight and the plane info was all missing. Potential to be an amazing app but needs to be accurate for travelers to have faith in the information, I looked rather stupid to my colleague who went with the info provided on the KLM app and went to the airport at 4am and got the flight that I trusted was cancelled..Version: 3.3.1

Does not workBoth flight could not be found.Version: 2.10.1

Very poor plane tracking/info appThis app does (if you pay the unusually high subscription price) provide a lot of flight related info, just like other similar and far lower cost apps, but this app presents it in a very cluttered and unfriendly way, burried among lots of other things you probably don't need. Without the subscription, this app is extremely limited, and offers far far less than other similar apps that are free. This app also mis-reports info about flights, which to me is another key drawback of this app - when I tried the app compared to another free one that I use, it reported the flight as delayed where it wasn't - the other app said no delay and the person on the plane said no delay. This app also seems to use arbitrary planned times for things like taxiing, also causeing it to report incorrect/misleadinginformation about a flight. The inbound flight info (i.e. the flight your plane took just before your flight) was also off by a bit. The route shown on the mapp was also incorrect as it only seems to show a straight line between cities, and not the actual flight path of the plane. THe worst part is that, once the plane arrives, the flight/data is automatically removed the app, so you can't go back and lookup info, and if you're picking someone up after their flight, this isn't a good or useful app. I've looked at, and used, a great many flight tracking apps over the years, and I was hoping, with the very high cost of this app, that it would be one of the better/best ones, but it was quite the opposite. While this app does present the kind of info I want, it is mostly all arbitrary or incorrect info, making it innaccurate, and useless. The way the info is presented is also not very good. Overall, I don't recommend this app (even is all features were free), especially as there are many other free and paid apps that present far better information, and more accurate/real information, in a far nicer and more useful way..Version: 2.10.1

CostlyIt is a good app, but the price is far too much given all that data is available for free in multiple other apps. The convenience factor of being all in one is not worth anywhere near what they are asking for.Version: 3.0.3

In-App priceyLike the app, well designed but to enjoy most of the features you have to subscribe and I think it’s super expensive. Even for a frequent traveller. I hope the price gets adjusted so we can afford and enjoy this great app. Will use App in the Air for now..Version: 2.7.0

Greed Takes OverNearly every *actual* beneficial function is locked behind a very expensive paywall..Version: 2.9.2

Not impressedTried the pro version. The gate wasn’t even shown! After my flight ended, the app was saying that my flight was still active for some reason. Apart from the fancy-looking UI with Dynamic Island and Live Activities, it’s a fairly useless experience. Most carrier flight apps already show you all the info you need in Apple Wallet with your boarding pass and even send you time-sensitive notifications for your gate etc. Additionally, the calendar syncing option is pointless. When you book a flight, Apple calendar already finds the booking in your emails and you have the option to add them. So I’m not sure why this is a ‘pro’ feature. If you want flight departure/arrival history for certain aircraft too, FlightRadar24 is miles ahead in that regard (and it’s free). Not worth the money. Don’t recommend..Version: 2.7.0

Pretty limited, expensiveSubscribed to premium, tried with a few flights. Flighty provided very limited information, nowhere near to justify its subscription price of $70 per year. If the app is able to provide extra data in the US but not in Australia, why the same pricing here? Also the business model itself is questionable, I would prefer to pay per flight rather than $70 on annual basis..Version: 1.0.2

Fantastic (if it worked)The app did not live up to the promise it showed from the description. Sadly no gate numbers ever displayed, even after boarding the plane. None of the ‘inbound flight info’ was available either- mainly why I got it. My flights were in Europe, but if this only really works with US flights it should not be available anywhere else. It’s a real shame as the potential for this app is very good. The layout and build is excellent. The lockecreen info etc are fantastic… but for me contained nothing but blank fields. It was accurate about landing times etc and did show a rescheduled take off time well before I was informed by email. So, potential to be an essential app for travellers, just needs to work on getting the gate and other info into the app. Would be 5* if so, sadly I am deleting and cancelling weekly subscription. Also, VERY expensive. No free trial to see if it works have lost another * as I feel I have been ripped off to even see if it worked as promised! It didn’t: so in the bin it goes. Will look out for reviews if the app gets an upgrade then will reconsider getting again in the future..Version: 2.10.2

Does not workIt might be a good app in the US but it really does not work with Australian airlines.Version: 2.10.1

SpamThis app not only spams my push notifications regularly with ads for itself, but every single app launch opens an IAP screen..Version: 3.1.3

Pro features just don’t work properlyToo many of the pro features are buggy/incomplete. It’s very frustrating. TripIt import - I eventually discovered after many interactions with support that this is simply unsupported in Europe. But Flighty continue to advertise it. Email & calendar import only work for a handful of airlines and there are seemingly no plans to extend the support. Again none of these limitations are mentioned before you buy..Version: 3.0.3

HorribleEverything in this app even down to simple notifications you need to buy the pro version which is 350 plus tax for lifetime or 60 bucks a month. Absolute scam of an app. Apple needs to take this app off the App Store immediately. The scamming intentions are unreal.Version: 2.10.2

Go-to app for staying on top of air travelYou’ll be getting updates you didn’t know you needed. Flighty was pushing me notifications about flight delays and gate changes minutes before the airline’s official app, impressive and helpful when trying to stay ahead of the crowd with rescheduling, etc. One star withheld for lack of granularity with notifications. The app has a few broad categories of notification groupings and I consistently find myself wanting to mute or disable some while still getting others and there’s no fine-tuning ability. update: Continued lack of ability to fine tune notifications is a disappointment. And the new screenshot nag popup is … well it’s just dumb, it’s annoying, and it’s insulting for those of us who make a conscious choice to screenshot something instead of using a pretty custom share sheet option. Also many updates to the app lately are focused on roping in friends to use it as well, however the core experience still needs work. It feels like the devs aren’t soliciting much “real life” user input. That being said, updates regarding things like delays and gate changes continue to be timely therefore I’ll continue using the app primarily for those..Version: 3.0.3

Too expensiveI installed the app to give it a shot, and found it way too expensive for what it is. I’m not a regular flyer and can’t justify the subscription prices they want for casual use..Version: 3.0.2

ExpensiveThis app is very expensive for what it is which is disappointing. If it was $10 CAD a year I’d have no issue but the $300+ makes it a little insane..Version: 2.9.2

It's okay but pretty buggyThis is a really nice looking app, but the developers seem to keep on cramming in new features - meanwhile half the existing paid features don't actually work properly. e.g. the Watch complication/app often shows the details for previous flight rather than current one, the 'route flown' on the flight tracker globe map frequently vanishes, email/calendar import won't reliably import quite a few large airlines, and so on..Version: 3.3.1

Unbelievably greedy pricingI would support and use this app if it weren’t priced so insultingly high. I don’t recommend using it based on the very high prices of the features behind a paywall that you need to make the app remotely useful..Version: 2.10.2

Overpriced and unreliableTime to departure frozen at 60 minutes in live activities and on screen notification. Calendar synch flaky and random. Visually pleasing but that’s about it. Completely unsuitable as a travel tool..Version: 2.10.2

SkepticalSo the UI looks nice. The historical on-time data is a nice-to-have but also available elsewhere on my other apps. The TripIt connection for me is a must-have, because I’m not managing my flights in several places and TripIt is owned by and connects to my corporate travel platform. That said, I feel like $50/year is very high for what the app seems to provide. But there’s NO way I’ll pay when it’s not syncing to my iPad. Hard stop. I see from another review that it is “a small subset of users” and that an update is on the way, and that was 10 days ago. So the app has my free trial to wow me and I have one trip in that timeframe to get a full test. I’m most interested in the timeliness and accuracy of the alerts, since I already get alerts from three other apps..Version: 1.2.6

Live Activity costs moneyIf you want this for flight tracking in your Lock Screen using live activities, it will cost you money..Version: 3.3.0

Was looking forward to thisThis app might work great in the USA but for CANADA and Asia there are better apps and they’re free. I would get updates from my free apps and sporadically from Flighty..Version: 1.0.3

Good app but…Good app but the constant pop ups for the pro version are extremely annoying. There is also no free trial for the pro version. The UI is really nice and polished. Update: I tried the pro version for two weeks as I was travelling and I’m dropping my review to a 2/5 now. It is definitely not worth the $5/week price tag. I couldn’t even get the gate and terminal info for most of my flights (with major airlines at major international airports). I don’t see the point..Version: 3.1.4

Premium features not functioning properly1. 24 hour where my plain is feature is not functioning properly and incorrectly advertised. For instance, my flight is in 21 hours yet no information is available as the tail number has not been assigned yet. You should not advertise this feature then if you cannot deliver the promised results. 2. Past flight history has tons of bugs. I don’t know why but it lacks a lot of information, only sees 3 past flights despite there being 3 in a week. New flight information is not always added to the stats or added to the wrong category - when the flight was 3+ hours late, it was added to 15min late category. 3. Check in notifications are shown at the wrong time. Both my Ryanair flights had notifications 4 days before the flight despite Ryanair only allowing to check in 24 hours before the flight (it used to be 48h). !All of these advertised premium features are not functioning properly therefore there is no use for me to continue the subscription. 4. Give feedback and request help features in the app have no send button. I’ve initially typed this feedback privately in the app to send to the developer but there is no button to send. There is an up arrow icon which may be the button but it’s greyed out and not working..Version: 2.4.2

Regrettably subscribedI regretted my subscription quickly. Almost every aspect of every single UK-based flight I watched lately was wrong. Departure times from UK constantly show one hour too early, departure gate is wrong, arrival airport wrong. App is nice to collect flight destinations in one place, but is utterly unreliable for live information..Version: 2.10.1

Flight delayed 6 hours but not according to FlightyTitle says it all. Sitting here. Flight delayed 6 hours. Flighty still says it’s time to board..Version: 2.10.2

Stop Forcing pro on meThe pop up ads to get pro EVERY time I Open or switch to the app takes away from everything. Sure that’s where the money comes from, but don’t offer a free version if you’re going to annoy people away from even considering the pro. Also pro is way to over priced for most features other apps offer for free...Version: 2.8.0

Visually beautiful, data quality sometimes lagsFlighty is visually beautiful. It has some interesting features, although the personal historical flight record is ruined for me since they only introduced the ability to distinguish between your own and others flights years after my account was too polluted with other flights I had tracked. The biggest thing holding back my rating is that quite frequently Flighty's flight dara is less accurate and less up-to-date than other apps. Whenever I email their support team about inaccuracies, I receive a generic response that "We are aware of some data problems and we're working on it." I suggest checking out whether Flighty meets your needs and comparing to other services before spending on this pricy subscription that may not deliver for you..Version: 2.4.2

Great app! But slowly removing features and not the most accurateI love flighty! They’ve got some great features and I’m loving the native look. *But* they’ve slowly been removing features recently. For instance, you used to be able to view your flight history on the normal map. But now, as soon as you tap the history button, it yeets you into the satellite globe and removes the toggle button. There’s no reason as all for this change, you can still view your current and future flights with the normal map, so why can’t I view my pay flights like that? And they’ve also limited adding historical flights to 365 days unless you pay. And there’s no way to add a flight that isn’t in their database at all. So now if you want to have a complete history, if you haven’t already done it, you can’t without paying. These are both things you could do before that have been removed for no apparent reason. But beyond those two (sorta three things), this app is great! There’s versions for all of my devices and it keep’s everything in sync, the live activities look awesome and it’s great and super helpful to see all your stats for your flight. However, delays aren’t the most accurate. For instance it will still say “on time” sometimes even while your flight is still on the group 30m later than it’s meant to be. I love lots about this app but some of the decisions are annoying and the data isn’t the best until your flight takes off. However being able to see where you plane is before it even lands before your flight is super cool!.Version: 2.7.0

Good but not greatI’ve been using the paid version for a few months now and initially really enjoyed it. However, over the last few months I’ve been running into more and more issues. The Live Activity tile will sometimes cripple my iPhone performance and cause significant lag on the Home Screen. As soon as I disable that feature for the tracked flight the performance is restored. On a recent trip the app got really confused with two flights having identical flight numbers going from LAX to MIA. The flight the previous day got delayed to the next day and Flighty couldn’t cope with that. The later scheduled flight didn’t even show up in the app anymore and the app merged both flights into one and the updates and notifications went crazy. At this point I just removed the flight from Flighty and went back to the airline app. I reached out to the developer for both issues but didn’t receive a response. It’s too expensive to have these kind of issues and I probably won’t be paying the annual fee again..Version: 2.7.0

Poor customer serviceI used the app a few times before subscribing to it. It worked very well. Showing flights time and gate numbers… All the information I needed were displayed. Then out of the blue, it totally stopped working. No times, no gates, not even showing the flight during the flight time. Meanwhile the flights were showing properly on FlightRadar24. I’ve contacted customer service who replied within a couple of days to tell me that it wasn’t their fault but the airport as they’re using “old tech” (Thanks Jane (from customer service)). I replied back attaching screen shots of both apps of the same flight (flighty and FlightRadar24). The flights were showing on FlightRadar24. I’ve asked why is working on the other app and not theirs. I’m to this day still waiting for a reply. Very very very poor customer service. They will tell you it’s not their fault and leave you there. Very disappointing. Especially at that price..Version: 3.3.1

Seems to get less and less accurateThe app has nice features for sure but don’t rely on it for updates, it’s not worth the money. At first it seemed well worth it, but now the info coming in is always late. I’m currently looking at a cancelled flight that thankfully I spotted on the website but Flighty still says it’s running. The first trial I used was excellent hence making the purchase but after 9 months of use, the info coming in just gets later and later. Hopefully they can improve this..Version: 3.1.2

No month to month planThe App Store mention a month to month plan. Unfortunately not available from the App itself so cannot be purchased..Version: 3.3.0

Serious accessibility problemsAs a frequent flyer, I was looking forward to adding Flighty to my toolbox. However, when run with VoiceOver, my phone slows to a crawl in the main screen. Aditionally, many controls appear not to have proper text labels. I suggest the developer spends some quality time understanding accessibility. An app like this that pushes info that may be displayed on flight boards a blind person can't see is ideal for the blind market..Version: 1.0.1

UnderwhelmingApp does not work nearly as well as I would’ve hoped. Emailed their customer support team a couple times for help trying to identify certain features that I may have been missing, but never received a response..Version: 2.8.0

Misleading Info about Flight TimingI am really really confused by the app. My ticket shows one time and Flighty App shows another time- 8 hours difference. Had I follow the Flighty App schedule and go to airport I would have miss the flight. Pls fix the app. I even info the app admin by mail and ticket screenshots but they didn’t correct.Version: 1.2.6

Data not coming throughWhen I first used this app it was great but recently I am not getting gate out terminal data through at the other week TripIt informed me of my flight delay but this did not even when I landed an hour late? I have the pro version. I’m at Valcia airport now and no gate info but TripIt has just announced the change and so has the Ryan air app???.Version: 2.8.0

Good app but too expensive!All-time calendar sync is only available for annual or lifetime subscription. That is ridiculous! Why should a feature be locked if I’m paying for the pro app? The app is very pricey and not worth it..Version: 3.3.1

Annoying appYes - for the casual user that wants to track a friend or family members flight - this app is annoying as he//. Every time you check flight status the app blocks your usage with a pop up, trying to sell an upgrade to one of their ridiculously expensive paid plans. It’s like whack-a-mole with the pop ups. Flighty’s whole marketing plan (appears) to be….“annoy them until they give us money!!!” I expect nothing for free, I want these people to earn money for their hard work. I have zero problems with ads somewhere around the GUI when I’m using the app. To CONSTANTLY block access via pop ups is not acceptable. Here’s a couple tips to make your app more usable, at no charge; 1. Stop tracking the flights at tree top level. There is ZERO value in seeing a flight as it transits a map, zoomed down to where the flight is in relation to a freaking blade of grass! Zoom out on the flight so it can be seen in relation to several countries or states. The zoomed in map is useless. 2. Allow the user to set the destination or departure location in the users local time. I need to know what time a flight is departing or arriving at an airport in relation to my local time. If my wife and kids are going to Amsterdam, I need to know what time they arrive in Amsterdam local and my local time. Not rocket science. Based on the above issues, I will not use this app. I will not recommend this app. Ps for all that hard earned cash Flighty wants for their app…where did the widget go?.Version: 3.1.4

The app is ok… the data isn’tSo where to start. The app is well designed and well developed, but the data sources or the refresh of them isn’t. Let me give a real life example of a very recent flight: Flighty said flight departure on time. Bearing in mind already a visible delay on the boards of over 1 hour. The app still said departure on time, even when the delay was nearly 2 hours, even the Ryanair flight app told be before flighty there was a delay in departure. Additions gripes I have is the gate info come up sometimes and those times way after the airport in hall boards. >5£ subscription per month, to not have live data and to not be connected to the real airport information data is quite pointless. Not even having the gate info until way after being already at the gate makes no sense. I think I will be cancelling the subscription because this last trip really proved to me no point int the app, a it really only have vanity kPIs, which don’t help you when wanting gate and actual delay time. What a shame, nice idea but rubbish data sources used or refreshes set to low..Version: 3.0.3

Nice but…The app is decent but paying for Pro just isn’t worth it in Europe as it never has the gate information. Also there’s a really annoying issue when in offline mode it forgets all the delays it knows about and doesn’t use any of it to display how long is left for the flight..Version: 2.10.2

Failed when neededThis app looks great and seemed helpful, but in the past week it failed to tell me a flight was cancelled, right up to departure time, and on rebooking a new flight, on the day of departure, repeatedly told me the new flight was cancelled (it wasn’t). Definitely caused undue stress. It’s fine having a nice looking app, but if it fails when actually needed then it is less than useless..Version: 3.0.3

Absolutely UselessI used Flighty Pro to test the all. Here is what Flighty app has failed to do: - notify me about a check-in on time. The app was 24 hours late with a check-in notification - provide me information about my gate number - recognize that my flight is delayed at any point of a two hour delay Any of those three problems is enough to say that this app has failed. All three together... well, for a flight tracker that is a complete failure. But hey, there is one thing that the app did not forget to do. It is to offer subscribing for $79 per year. You must be nuts to subscribe to this..Version: 1.8.2

Just downloaded it, closes every 3 secondsI literally just downloaded this, paid for the monthly sub. Can’t even use it. Brutal. Closes every time I open it. Cancelling my subscription..Version: 3.0.2

Great for US flights, but…As others have said, the app is great for US flights — huge amounts of timely information. But for flights in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East the data can best be described as patchy. In some instances the app states a plane is “reportedly still at gate” when it has in fact taken off. In these circumstances if I Google the flight number I can instantly see where the flight is. Why can’t the app do this? And this is for major airlines..Version: 2.10.0

Lovely app, wrong pricing strategyI really like the design; utility seems good although it can be out of sync with some updates in European airports. However the price is just too high. Pricing needs to reflect not just the development cost but also the value to the customer. Outside the high-mileage US commuters, where airport problems are so common, there just isn’t the value to warrant such a high annual or lifetime cost. This is even more evident when compared with other travel tools eg Revolut or expertflyer which give insurance or are critical for travel planning..Version: 3.3.1

Brilliantly designed, but far too expensive for basicsThis is a lovely app. Really well designed, and for frequent fliers the predictive behaviour is invaluable and seemingly unique. I love the extended plane info, and taxi times. When travelling frequently, I would happily pay for a subscription for that functionality. I’m amazed, however, that to show live flight updates in the dynamic island and lockscreen is hidden behind the £49/year paywall. Given iOS already has a built-in flight tracker in iMessage, I can only hope they choose to expand and add this feature directly in the OS..Version: 3.1.4

Unreliable data feedBeautifully presented but inaccurate compared to TripIt. As an example on a recent trip flighty listed my cancelled flight as ‘on time’ for almost 2 hours after it was cancelled. On the return flight it directed to the wrong gate and only updated to correct one just before departure. TripIt will often alert you to cancellations or changes even before the airline. If flighty can fix timeliness it will be great..Version: 3.3.1

This is why I hate the in app purchase and subscription thingI’d be much happier if I could see the price before downloading because in cases like this where the price is way to expensive all you’ve ended up achieving is wasting my time and getting a bad review in return. Hope it was worth it..Version: 2.10.1

Taking the p-There’s a difference between paying developers for the work they do and absolutely taking the p- out of your customers. EVERYTHING is behind a subscription paywall. Why the heck would notifications, widgets and now Live Activities be behind a paywall? Next, they’ll be charging us to store the app on our device..Version: 2.6.1

Everything behind paywallThis was an awesome app and got even better with iPhone 14 Pro. Now everything is behind a paywall: notifications, live activities, alternatives. Became pretty useless now. And you have to fly a lot that it’s worth to pay more than 60$ a year to have these functions. Thank thank you for nothing!.Version: 2.7.0

Looks awesome. Isn’t.I was really looking forward to trying flighty on a recent trip, especially having taken a punt and spent £50 (!!!) on a year’s subscription, as it seemed like it’d be really useful if it lived up to its promise. It didn’t. For four flights it’s so far failed to display anything at all for the departure gate, even after the flight had taken off. This meant that some of the other features, like the walking time to gate just don’t work at all. My flight this afternoon landed 4 hours ago and flighty still thinks I’m in the air for some reason. Wish I’d read some other reviews beforehand, as it seems the app just doesn’t work in Europe..Version: 3.1.4

Still Not Nearly Ready For Prime TimeBottom-line: Great idea….still poorly executed. Unfortunately…after numerous uses of this app it still fails the most important criteria for frequent air travelers…DEPENDABILITY! All too often this app did not…on a timely basis…or even at all…update with timely delay or gate change information. Currently…you can’t depend solely on Flighty. Luckily…I had activated push notifications from both the airline site and the FlightAware app or I would have missed this critical information. In addition…more times than not…at the gate the app shows we have taken off while the flight is still on the ground loading passengers or is delayed. And yes…I did notify them via the “Report Data Issue” on the app…not that I ever heard back from them.. This app has so much promise and I really hope they address these glaring core problems…and data inconsistencies…instead of adding yet more marginally useful bells and whistles like with the recent 3.0 update. Quite honestly….by a 3.0 version any app should be nearly perfect in delivering its core functionality to users. This one isn’t even close yet. My advice? Try the free version…but don’t get the paid version yet. It’s not ready for prime time..Version: 3.0.0

Amazing app but way too expensiveWhy would anyone pay 60$ a year just to track a couple of flights on a map? Insane! 10$ a year is fine, but no way folks will pay that much for this type of service..Version: 2.10.0

Fun app, well designed, obscene priceThe app is fun to use and well built and I would love to use it but the price is insane for what it is. The app serves no real purpose really over than the hobby of making a visual log of your flight history with some extras thrown in. There are many other apps you can get for a visual flight diary more better than half the price of this. I would happily pay a premium because of the layout and design but unfortunately this goes past premium and into joke territory..Version: 3.3.1

JetstarThe new bro of exactly when flight was taking off after being delayed was unclear and didn’t keep me updated. I was disappointed. Sorry.Version: 2.9.2

New user opinionImpressive map display. Over all, this app has potential. However my comparison to other air travel flight trackers, it is not enough for me to spend the extra money. I can get more basic information from other sources free of charge. It doesn’t make a difference how old my plane is. That is regulated by the Airlines & the FAA. Delays, Cancelations, Weather, & Health hazards are my concerns. Especially for flights planned way in advance ( Holidays & Vacations ). I wish to see free information that is related to connecting flights & airport gates. You need to develop apps with terminal information- Mapped terminal gates. How far is it between airline gates. Baggage tracker- where are my checked in bags? Delays with connecting flights create missing baggages. Alerts ⚠️, for my flights/ connecting flights that instantly get sent to my phone via banner are at the top of my list..Version: 2.0.2

Great until it’s notThis is a great app on the surface, but it has a lot of flaws and bugs that appear constantly and make the entire experience clunky. I tried contacting the developer early on to request beta access to test Live Activities and help them debug and they were snobby about it and told me I needed to be more active and submit bugs and issues if I wanted to be considered for the beta. I’ve submitted many bugs and issues since, and there hasn’t been a recognition or reply to any of them. There are constant issues with their search bar. And everything runs smoothly until there’s an issue with your flight. Delays, changes, etc., the point of the app, totally screw it up and the flight becomes useless. When everything works well, I understand all the awards and praise, but when it doesn’t, it makes the price of the app feel quite exorbitant..Version: 3.1.4

Extremely expensive for what it providesUI is nice but it’s way too expensive for the utility that it provides. Instead of paying $80/year for some nice-to-haves I’ll happily go back to googling my flight which has never let me down and costs $0. The pricing is to take advantage of business travellers who have too much money to spend. The developer will probably reply by saying how much operating costs they have blah blah but this really is irrelevant to the consumer - the consumer should only be concerned with the price versus utility gained from the product. If it is unsustainable for the developer to charge less than $80/year for what is essentially a souped up google search, then they need to reevaluate their business model..Version: 2.8.0

Was fantastic. What happened to gate numbers?I loved this app, it’s beautifully designed & incredibly useful for someone who travels frequently. I was excited about the inclusion of an Apple Watch complication too. Sadly gate numbers no longer update, making the primary function of this app useless. I don’t care about weather when I’m already at the airport, I care about where I need to go and not being tied to one of the screens in the airport. I hope this is repaired soon..Version: 3.2.0

Very pretty, but the data is rubbishTracking a flight from Uk and there was no gate information I am in a different time zone and it tracked the departure time against my time zone instead of where the flight took of from. Really basic bugs for something with a premium price tag. Not all the subscriptions listed in the app store are available such as 1 month pay as you go, there is only 1 week available in the app..Version: 3.3.1

Excellent AppPlease do have a sale on the lifetime purchase please No sales???.Version: 3.1.4

Too ExpensiveSuch an expensive app with little to no features unless you pay huge amounts per month or yearly. So unfortunate..Version: 2.8.0
