✓ Wrong answer in puzzleI always enjoyed the game when I played it on Nintendo DS, and was happy to see it now in the App Store. However if you put out puzzles, you better check the correctness of your answers, especially when you punish the score if you do not get it correct. The clock puzzle (on the clock tower) is incorrect. It includes the 12:22 as a valid score (as shown in the hint). On a 12 hour clock (am/pm), the clock goes at 11:59 back to 00:00, and never will show 12:22. This number only shows on a 24 hour clock (once)..FrenzerellyVersion: 1.0.2

✓ Animations not really HDÀ lot of artifacting and compression in scenes on iPad Pro 10.5 in landscape mode. Maybe on smaller screens it'll look fine but definitely could have put more work into it. Should have realised this was the case based on how small the game size is (~550 MB). Overall happy but underwhelmed with overhaul. If you are new to the series it's still great, if you are an old fan there's enough to revisit but curb your enthusiasm for quality of the animations. Not exactly pixilated like the DS version but not exactly 1080p resolution either. Probably like iPhone SE resolution that gets scaled in game. ✓ Huge bug with no fix???I love the PL games and I was so excited to play them again but once I booted up the game the sound didn’t work at all! ✓ Tapping NightmareI would have loved this in the 1980’s, but today tapping incessantly to advance the slooooow dialog drives me crazy and makes my finger sore. If the story and dialog were minimized, I would get a lot more enjoyment out of the many, many great puzzles. ✓ Game looks great but...I dont wanna spoil game for newcomers but a type of puzzle is clearly not meant for ios touchscreen. This makes it difficult to extremely difficult to solve these puzzles as the placing of parts needs to be exact. I think its espcially difficult when you have large fingers as well. ✓ Not what I was expectingThis is not a puzzle game - it is a game filled with brain teaser puzzles ... Each puzzle completely unrelated to any other puzzle in the game. Also, the dialogue is aimed at 12 & under. This is not at all what I was expecting and I'm disappointed that the App Store review was so misleading. ✓ Not fully adapted for mobileYou can’t enter in a correct answer for some puzzles because the backslash character “/“ can’t be read and it just becomes a question mark “?”. It’s also really annoying to accurately draw with your finger. You also can’t view the “movies” in landscape during gameplay. ✓ Could use a bit more workThis is a fun game. I’ve played a couple of the old Layton series and it was fun to see them remake it. The one thing I didn’t like though is that they structured the game really awkwardly for DS and just transferred the game like so into IOS. The screen is too small if you keep your phone vertically for the cutscenes so I find it particularly strange having to switch my phone vertically and then horizontally. Looking for things to inspect as you walk is a bit awkward since things are so small. I personally wish they had gone a bit further to make it seem like this was actually a phone game rather than a very obvious rework..He6eprVersion: 1.0.1

✓ Not a good first impressionThis is a tentative review since I just started playing yesterday; if I get a significantly different impression with more play I’ll update again later. Lovely graphics, pretty slow-paced so far (story-based, which is fine, but I’m not finding the story all that interesting yet and I think the player is supposed to identify with the assistant but I’m just not feeling it), puzzles not that good so far, maybe better for children than adults. I’m extremely annoyed that the game doesn’t automatically save progress unless you click on the suitcase, when I opened the game today I’d lost all my progress from yesterday and had to start over. Overall plays more like a gaming station video game than a mobile app — i get the impression it’s intended for longer sessions, and again it doesn’t automatically save progress..FlamingjellyfishVersion: 1.0.0
