GALATEA: Novels & Audiobooks for Negative User Reviews

GalateaI like the stories, they can be exciting and fun but I don’t like the wait. The chapters are too short to wait 24 hours. It takes me like 2 minutes to read the chapter. Some of the stories are drawn out for ages and it takes forever for them to get into it. I also don’t know where my book library is so I can’t read 2 books at once and when I try to search for the title it doesn’t come up. It’s fun to read on the app though.Version: 3.13.0

It’s a rip offSo far I like some of the books, or should I say the free chapters I have read, but waiting 5hrs to get the next free chapter, or having to use points, which you have to pay for to pay for each chapter is ridiculous! It’s 10 points per chapter! Most books definitely have more than 10 chapters!!!! And it’s not like the chapters are long either! You get crumbs! Such a rip off honestly. You’d be better off paying $7.99 for the whole book rather than 110 points which you would use before you even finish the book off. It’s highly frustrating and I wish they would make it more fair and accessible to use. I don’t mind paying for a book if I like it but I don’t like being ripped off either. I’m sure there are better book apps out.Version: 4.9.21

Love it, but wait time is a bit muchObsessed so far, however, when you have to wait 36 hrs for a chapter that’s like 2 paragraphs long it can seem a bit much.Version: 9.9.0

Story is good but it’s a one and done for me!I got sucked into reading the millennium wolves via an article. I have already been sucked in to a pay by chapter service before and swore I never would again but here we are! The story is good and I will see it through to the end ( I might be 100 when that happens!) But I will not read another book on this service the coins are far to expensive and the annual subscription is supid expensive I’m not willing to pay $97 for one book, why not offer a shorter term ( which by the look of previous reviews some have had or do have this option) rewarding readers with a shorter wait time or sale on coins would garner you a more loyal following, you could be on a winner if you were to offer coupons to readers ( I’ve logged on for 3 weeks and am yet to see a chapter appear quicker than 6 hours or a sale or a coupon) this was also dusting Black Friday and cyber Monday - Good book but it’s one and done for me..Version: 4.9.44

Good appGood app.Version: 9.10.0

My thoughts…Personally, I don’t really like this app. The stories and plots are great but there is just a lot of technical issues and glitches. I mean, the books maybe free but is it worth waiting 48 hours for the 16th chapter of a 44 chapter book. It’s not really that more convenient than a real book because the wait time increases by 6 HOURS every chapter. I feel like you should lower the wait time and make it more reasonable. The only reason I have this app is because there’s books are only exclusive to this app or else I’d go buy a physical copy of the stories..Version: 7.3.0

Check TrustpilotI only wish I had checked trustpilot reviews before paying for points in this app. From information on this app from a review I believed I could purchase a small package $3.99 and it would be enough points to finish one book. That way I could check whether I liked the app before committing to a full year. Not even close! The small package hit me 40points. Each chapter is 10 points, no wait now its 12 points, now 14 points etc. Each chapter it goes up. Or you can wait 6 hrs between each very short chapter ti read the next chapter. So I paid $3.99 to read about 1/20 th of one book. What a scam and water of money and time. Avoid at all costs! And how is it it has such a great rating of 4.2 when trustpilot has it at 2.4. Ripped off!.Version: 8.10.0

GalateaNot bad I guess.Version: 9.10.0

An Honest Review; As an avid reader and major book worm I was really excited to download the Galatea app, after viewing the ad. Immediately I was absorbed into the world of the books, such as the Millennium Wolves. The audio aspect provided an unexpected touch that works surprisingly well. However, with every positive comes a negative. I read around 3 books a week. Like most bookworms bingeing is a way of life and so the long waits between episodes is quite painful. As a low income earner unable to afford points, waiting is nearly impossible. It would be great to see a few other point gaining methods, such as ads, to offer greater opportunities to sustain my reading habits. Without being able to binge, it is easy to be distracted and move on to other titles or forget what has occurred previously. This disjointed feeling when reading stories is quite annoying. However, the stories are fabulously intriguing and the audio grabs you from the start. With a few potential improvements this app could be amazing..Version: 2.6.13

Developers need to get to know their target audience. The app is good. It has high potential due to the functionality BUT it is ridiculous that you have to wait 6 hours for ONE episode which you get through in 6 mins. It’s very unfortunate because a lot of readers (myself included) will give up on the app as a result of having to wait 6 months to finish 1 singular book on their app. The developers of this app need to understand their target audience as it is evident they do not. Tv junkies like to binge series episode after episode just as readers get into a state of imagination as they get entwined into a fictional world and want to read chapter after chapter; this state is ruined & disrupted when you have to wait 6 hours just to get another 5 mins and then again another 6 hours for another 5 mins. Ludicrous. At this point I will be sticking to episode or wattpad because for instance with episode, yes you have to get passes to read but you get 3-4 daily and have the choice to watch adverts to skip time which is only even then 3 hours & as with wattpad you simply watch a 30 second advert between chapters..Version: 4.3.4

IrritatingFirst off, I really do love the stories that this app has. They are engaging and very well written. Even though the chapters are short, the writing and the plot almost makes up for it. However, having to wait 6, then 12, then 24 and now 36 hours to read the next “chapter” which happens to be only a five minute read, is making it less worth my while. There are ways of getting “free” points, however, with each chapter, the amount of points increases too. As soon as there is a lull in the end of a chapter, my interest will undoubtably be diffused and I already know I’m not going to finish the book. 160 chapters, each a five minute read should take me less than 14 hours to read, but at this rate, I know it will take me a year, my attention span does not last that long. I feel awful writing this because I am really enjoying the book, but the amount of time needed for me wait to just read for another five minutes is too much to be reasonable..Version: 6.6.4

Great stories but expensiveI’ve really enjoyed the stories that I have been reading so far, both in the fantasy/supernatural gendre. Quick to emerge you into the story and the characters so are a pleasure to read. Sadly the only way to be able to access them is to pay by chapter. The chapters are short also the cost soon racks up. To have them unabridged without interruption you have to pay for full access to all stories rather than by the book or, pay for chapters which is very expensive and the cost is far greater than actually buying a book. Galatea need to address this issue. Not everyone wants to pay the yearly price, or by the chapter. After finishing my current book I don’t think I’ll be back until I can just pay for the books I want to read or have a monthly subscription rather than have to pay for the year as I like to vary the gendre of books I read..Version: 5.1.5

GalateaThere are some very interesting stories on this app and most of them you do get sucked into and are constantly wanting more but the waiting time is too much. Sometimes I find myself getting bored of the stories because of how long you have to wait for ONE episode. Then if you want to binge read, you’d have to buy more points and it does add up. I think this app would succeed so much more if they changed the waiting time either making it shorter, or giving you enough points for 3 chapters a day that would be awesome. But if you don’t mind the waiting or spending money on points, then go for it..Version: 2.6.4

GALATEASo I’ve been using this up for about a month now and so far so good, there’s a few things I like and don’t like about this app, first it’s the point system to purchase chapters, I don’t really like how you get so little points without actually buying them, and the wait time is crazy between each chapter to unlock the next one. However, a positive as to why I’ve stuck to this app is because the stories are actually really good and interesting, for the 4-5 chapters you do get to read for free they are pretty captivating. Overall, a pretty good book app!.Version: 10.6.1

Not happy anymore 🥺I was thoroughly enjoying this app, thoroughly enjoying the stories and characters until a few weeks ago when it started freezing and not uploading chapters, freezing while between chapters and then all my progress was wiped!!! As per the instructions given I deleted the app and then reinstalled it to my phone. The tech assured me that my progress would not be lost and that everything would be fine🤔 Reinstalled, feeling happy and then 👎👎 my library is empty and everything except my coins was gone🙁 Unfortunately I have yet to recover any of the stories I was reading but I am continuing to use the app..Version: 4.9.51

A money grabGalatea is full of great stories which are exactly my cup of tea. They hook you into a book with the first few chapters already unlocked, then when it starts getting good you either have to wait 6 hours for the next chapter, pay $100 au for the annual subscription or use 10 points. The only problem is, once you start having to unlock the chapters by waiting 6 hours or using points the chapters get ridiculously short, you might be lucky to get one or two pages if it was a hard copy story. I paid $7.99 on points and had them last me less then 30 minutes. I’d much rather pay $10 for the book and be done with it. The $100 annual subscription seems ridiculous, id happily join if it was month by month but needing that upfront seems like a scam. The whole app feels like a money grab, I want to stick it out to get to the end of this book I am reading but we’ll see..Version: 4.9.28

So soGood app, however is v boring w/o the subscription.Version: 9.9.0

Great books, never read so much before! These books are great, the stories are very immersive! however the wait time In between chapters is excessive when you are trying to get through a book, 12-36hours in betweeen chapters is way too long considering it takes less than 10mins per chapter. And you forget what you have previously read when the gap is that large. The content should be longer or the wait should be shorter. Also a monthly plan would be better than having to pay a year up front, I would happily do a monthly membership and would like to purchase however there is no option to. Overall good content but not accessible enough without paying full year up front..Version: 8.0.1

Can be frustrating waitingYou receive one chapter at a time and need to wait a certain time limit before the next chapter is given. This gets frustrating as the time gets getting longer and the points required to buy the chapter also increase. To buy the chapters works out more expensive than buying a book from another platform - such as kobo or ibooks.Version: 9.7.0

Nice idea, not great for binge readersSo I love to sit down with a book or story for at least an hour, so this has been fairly frustrating for me. Don’t get me wrong from what I’ve read so far I like the stories but having a 6 hour wait between each chapter is a bit ridiculous when then chapters take less then 10 minutes to read through then, some are literally 5 minutes. You can get points by buying them or watching adds but it has a limit which is seriously frustrating! You can access more adds 7am the next day but overall it’s not that friendly to binge readers. Now yes it’s free, unless you buy points, however the total of money you could spend buying chapters you would be essentially buying multiple books for the price of one. I just don’t really think it’s worth the money. But I will keep going until I finish my stories and then will probably delete it. But good stories..Version: 7.4.1

Handy and convenientI’m really enjoying this app and having such a good selection of books to choose from but I do wish there would be a warning if the book is incomplete at the start to save us spending coins, for instance kidnapped by my mate ends on a cliffhanger on book one it’s been months now and still no book 2 even tho the author has released chapters of book 2 on other platforms, also some of the chapters are barely more than paragraphs and not worth spending 10 points on but I do like how you can earn upto 20 free points by watching videos daily, since writing this review things have changed in the app and not for the better!!! Wait times are ridiculous on some books which means unfortunately people loose interest, one book I started was 23 hours wait or 16 points and for how short the chapters are they’re really not worth 16 points, instead of points they should give you the option of just buying the whole book for the same price you would spend on a hardback copy in the shops, I’m sure there’s many out there like me who don’t think some of these books are worth spending £50+ on and the subscription is only available in one lump sum instead of a smaller monthly payment.Version: 7.7.10

AddictiveI’ve been seeing this app on my adverts for ages but only just downloaded! I’m loving how there’s so many stories, but I found most of the stories are edited version with additional story lines of stories I’ve already read. Also, the wait is excruciating, it should be shorter or atleast three chapters available not just one. Sometimes I get bored of waiting and just forget about it. I have also purchased points but it’s so expensive and some chapters are fillers that it’s not even worth the 10 points..Version: 2.6.4

Good booksLots of amazing books, but would be better if the wait time to read the next chapter was shorter..Version: 9.10.0

Good stories, a wait time is too long! The app itself is very tidy, easy to navigate and search for content. Also offers recommended titles based on the current story you are reading which is great! You can choose to use your points (or purchase additional points) to unlock chapters, however it is not necessary to spend money as a chapter is unblocked after a set time. I do find the wait times are getting longer as you get further into the story, so effectively pushing you towards spending money on more points to unlock the chapters faster. You can pay for the unlimited versions, but that is an all-upfront cost rather than having an option to pay monthly. I think a monthly payment option would be perfect as it seems there are a lot of users, who like me are so gripped by the story they are reading they do not want to wait 5+ hours for the next chapter!.Version: 10.5.0

YesGood stories . Hate waiting to read them.Version: 9.9.0

Expensive, complicated and deceptiveSome great books on the app BUT you either need to pay $24 for the whole book at one time and then pay 80 cents to access the chapters you’ve already paid for or pay 80 cents per chapter of the book individually which usually involves paying 80 cents to bypass the time delay. The platform is based on purchasing points and using points to buy books and chapters…this is too over complicated and a cunning way to make you spend more points when not paying attention to the value of the points. Reading should be enjoyable and relaxing, this just felt disruptive and greedy. Stick to Kindle everyone.Version: 4.9.25

Expensive or long waitsChapters of the books are short, and every chapter you have to wait a *massive* 6 hours til the next one. You can unlock 2 extra chapters a day by sitting through 5 long horrible ads per chapter. If you get desperate to know what’s next you can unlock ‘books’ but you basically have to sign up for a subscription or buy points to unlock chapters, but this is more expensive than just buying an actual book. I wouldn’t mind paying for books if they just had prices for a full book and more realistically priced. It really puts me off continuing to use the app..Version: 4.9.41

Must have subscription to read 1 book.I’m extremely disappointed with this app. I was happy to buy credits to continue chapters and also waited the allotted time for the occasional chapter. But I just bought tokens to continue the story ( more than what this novel would likely sell for in stores) and I can’t continue because my only option is a yearly subscription of $97. I am an avid reader, I am happy to pay for that pleasure, but there’s no other options of subscription... I only want to read this one title and that’s not worth the cost of the subscription. My tokens are essentially wasted now as I’m bot starting another title to use them up as I won’t be able to finish that without subscribing either. I’d highly consider having less time options available.. you catch more flies with honey..Version: 5.1.53

Lies and rip-offs! A total scamDon’t fall for the hyped up descriptions. You cannot ‘binge’ anything and the wait time between chapters is not 6 hours. Some chapters are 24 hours. You also cannot read anything after the first quarter for free. Unfortunately this is just long enough to get well into the story so you want to keep reading! I caved and bought enough points to complete the book which honestly I was happy to do to support authors (I highly doubt this goes to the poor authors by how deceptive this app is) Excited to read the rest of the book without having to wait between chapters I then find I’m totally roadblocked after only a few chapters. Now I cannot continue at all without paying a yearly subscription for almost $100! Please explain to me what the point of buying points is (apart from scamming people) if you need to subscribe anyway?!? Not happy this is a total SCAM..Version: 6.6.3

Mon avis sur l’applicationC’est top.Version: 9.9.0

It is a rip off and has bugs :(The formatting changes all the time. You can’t change the font to one that you like. Random codes pop up on the screen (the app obviously has bugs). The subscription is stupidly priced. If you bought coins (pay as you go) and wanted to read The Millennium Wolves Books 2-7 then you would need to spend $5750 (what a joke!) so Galatea are basically forcing users to pay for a years subscription and the app doesn’t offer a monthly subscription. On manga apps you can pay a lot less and enjoy excellent books..Version: 4.9.36

Ok, but...I like the story I’m currently reading, but the chapters are super short! I would personally prefer to have normal pages where one can change the font size rather than have to tap for every single line... Also, is the one year subscription the only option?? And one has to pay for almost £75 at once? I wouldn’t mind paying for it for a month or so (even if it was slightly more expensive /month), but for a whole year at once...I found it too much (especially that I have time to read now, but that won’t be the case in 2 months). Maybe I’m missing something, but that was the only option that I found (apart from the one-time purchases that are rather expensive, especially considering that one chapter is only a few lines that one can read in ~2 min then would need to pay more for the rest) So overall, the stories are entertaining, and if there was an option for monthly subscription (or longer chapters/reduced waiting time) it would be a great app..Version: 4.9.3

Great, but..In all honesty I’m just doing this for 10 points but honestly I do love the books and story’s but the app needs a lot of work, firstly I’m in school and don’t have the money to pay out for tiny minuscule “episodes” every time I want to read a good book plus the time u have to wait is ridiculous u should change it to more Episode’s style were you have 4 passes, one for each chapter then have to wait 4hrs to get another 4 passes, each episode full length and about 30-40 mins long 1hr max and possibly 20 minimum, and have the option to watch a few ads to get a pass or buy more this way not only raising the standard and reviews but also more people will want to spend their money, now, people are just annoyed and promoting the app for a few ‘points’ Wattpad also has a better style and I’m not saying copy or completely change I’m just saying it would benefit more to make some adaptions also I am a big bookworm and usually read till 3am before sleeping and start around 8pm so if you could add the choice of a dark mode where the pages are black and the writing is white would also be amazing but all in all I would recommend it if some of these were changed..Version: 2.6.4

Very good appAlthough it kinda sucks to pay and/or to wait to read another chapter, all the stories I have read so far are good and without spelling mistakes. Definetly worth it getting the app, if ur a fan of litterature..Version: 9.9.0

EntertainingI have to say there’s a lot of good stories on here, with the exception of some wattpad-esque writing and obviously amateur storytellers that drive me a bit crazy, but I spend like hours on this app. If only it weren’t so expensive to buy chapters 🥹.Version: 9.10.0

Forcing SubscriptionThe app had some great stories but lately, they are forcing readers to buy a yearly subscription to read the finale of much-awaited endings. Like certain books, you wait years after the cliffhanger ending for the final and then you can only read the end of your subscription. Also, certain books will never be finished, for example, Colt. The book ends on a cliffhanger author sends in the final chapters but Galatea refuses to upload them. Audiobooks are also not getting new updates. If you subscribe and cancel you don't get money back you are stuck like a contract that needs to run out. Not like kindle unlimited where you can do month-to-month and cancel anytime you want. It is so sad really because there are so many good books on this app. A new trend also the popular books' wait time to unlock chapters have increased from 6h to 36h.Version: 5.1.60

ReviewThere are many different story’s available on galatea but the wait time is way too much like 6 hours is unbelievable, you shouldn’t have to pay to continue reading or dont advertise it, you can only watch 10 videos a day but that’s stupid you should be allowed to watch more so you can read more and not have to wait ages, some people don’t have lots of money and don’t want to waste it on a reading app. The story’s are great don’t get me wrong I love reading them and I get hooked into all of them but when I’m waiting I forget about it and I get bored day after reading a chapter you should unlock 3 adds or something that will get you coins or when u log in each day up the coins to higher prices instead of 1 each day. Also have more tasks available like “write a review” “follow us on instagram” you should have more available some like “read for 15 minutes” “read for 1 hour” “finish a book” “have 5 books in your library” for me it’s only 2 stars because the books are great I love them but the rest of the app needs an update or no one is gonna download it anymore cause what’s the point in getting hooked then having to wait 6 hours why not 5-10 minutes instead or something?.Version: 7.8.14

ReviewI really love this app and honestly the only bad thing about it is the wait times between each chapter. Waiting 48 hours for 1 chapter is really just crazy..Version: 9.10.0

Stupid Wait TimesSo I downloaded this app understanding it is like other story apps where by you either wait a period of time to read a chapter or you can subscribe or purchase “coins” to read more chapters. However what I was horrified to find with this app is every time you use coins to purchase the next chapter it adds more time onto the waiting timer. So it meant when I decided not to spend any more of my money on the coins that for me a five hour timer that I started with allowing me to read 2 chapters a day went to a timer over 35hrs meaning a single chapter every two days. And these chapters aren’t even that long! I’d advise to any future users of this app to either subscribe or to wait the five hours instead of spending cash for coins if your like me where by you’re not willing to keep spending just under £5 for 100 coins every five chapters. I would also like to add when I started using my coins it began as 10 coins for every chapter but the more chapters I read the more coins it would take, so it went from 10 coins a chapter to 20 coins a chapter and then jumped to 30 coins a chapter. This app may have a lot of stories to read (which is the only reason it gets two stars) but it feels more like I’m spending my cash for no gain..Version: 5.1.52

Interesting idea but requires improvementI’ve tried this app for the immersive aspects of it. The idea is interesting and the design is good. The stories are well written and quite interesting. However, the app itself is full of technical bags that make the user experience somewhat problematic. I tried three different stories and two of them got stuck and never loaded the next chapter once unlocked, despite numerous attempts to restart the app. You stuck on the black screen with progress line, only way is to shut down the app and re-enter it again. I tried reinstalling the app but to no avail. The technical help section doesn’t help, all it says is to reinstall the app and/or check the WiFi. I tried to purchase points for the third story but the tab with the purchasing options never loaded either. It feels a bit like a ‘Russian Roulette’ whether it’s going to work or not. I’d suggest a serious debugging work to make this app live up to its standard and expectations..Version: 4.4.4

Addictive but keeps freezingI keep finding at the end of a chapter the screen freezes (and this is on a latest model iPhone with no other issues). The stories are very addictive and some are written well however, some clearly need a proof reader to just spend ten minutes on them and make them fit for reading! The 6hour wait between chapters can be annoying and if the books had been better quality I would have subscribed by now. Also, I have come to the end of several of these books now and they have NO ending. They are like a badly written first movie where the sequel is the focus but not even filmed yet. Lots had a promising start then nothing happens for 5-6 books and then it all ends without resolution either. I’m guessing there’s some addiction psychology in Galatea’s modelling but it’s making me increasingly close to permanently deleting this app.Version: 4.9.21

Wait timeI really don’t understand the concept of increasing the wait time. Like 6 hours was doable for me. But then it gradually increased to 12 hours. Now it has increased to 18 hours. Just because someone doesn’t/can’t afford it, that does not mean you’re going to misuse someone. I would rather uninstall it and never read the books than having to wait 18 hours for a chapter that finishes in 5 mins or less. And then it will certainly not stop at 18 because I know for sure that you guys increase the time by 6 hours every 2-3 days..Version: 5.1.55

Galatea...The wait period of 24 hours to read a chapter that honestly takes like 2-3 minutes to read if even is ridiculous. It should be shorter or give your readers the option to write a review or watch an ad (do like 5 a day) to continue reading on. The stories are great and make you want to keep reading but to have to pay to continue or wait 24 HOURS is a bit absurd. Definitely should look into changing that!.Version: 2.5.68

Not worth the waitThe books are good, and that’s the only reason I didn’t give it one star. There is a 6 hour wait between chapters if you’re not willing to pay, and to pay for most of the books it costs more than $60 which is far to much for something that isn’t on paper (and if it was on paper I wouldn’t want to spend more than $20 on a book). The books I read were really good, and at first you got to read 5 or 6 chapters without the wait, and then it went to 1 chapter and then wait for 6 hours, I think I would continue with this app if the wait was shortened to 1 or 2 hours or if they made it so that you could read 2 or 3 chapters for free in a row without the wait. I’ll finish the book I’m reading and then delete this app because it’s not worth it.Version: 4.9.49

Galatea book appI have found a few stories I’m enjoying reading. It is frustrating to only be able to read one chapter at a time. There are a lot of grammatical errors in some books, and some phrases are a bit strange/ don’t quite make sense. I would prefer to be able to read one book at a time, and unlock another free book once that’s finished or a similar type thing. I’ve never been a huge reader, so it’s even more frustrating when I want to read a book but can’t continue.. they can be a little addicting.Version: 5.1.8

So much to improveSo, it’s been over a year now since I started using the app. I’ve spent money and time on it; and guess what? The stories I started reading a year ago are still pilots. And all I’ve heard so far was “Oh yeah, we’re adding stories everyday and we’re always adding new episodes”. I don’t care about you adding stories everyday. I want to keep reading the stories I’ve started. So get working on those pilots or simply remove them because that is very unprofessional. And I’ve read in a reply that you have great ways to earn points. Your great ways are 1. Get a point a day by commenting and 2. 20 minute call for 50 points. So many great ways lol. The app was great at first when we could at least get points for every comment and it’s not fair that everyone has to pay the price because of some people who just randomly commented. I’ll keep reading one of the stories I’m interested in and then I’ll uninstall because there is no point in having it if my stories are not updated..Version: 2.6.8

Good idea, but not followed throughI got this app yesterday, as I was wanting to finish The Milennium Wolves 0.5, after it stopped at Chapter 5 on Inkitt. However, not only when I got the app did I have to start at the beginning, but after the first episode- which I have already read - I was trying to skip to where I left off, and it said that I had to wait another 7 hours, or buy points. It’s a shame you can’t also get the option to choose a chapter if you’ve read ahead, plus it’s putting youngsters off reading if you have to read a chapter a day, basically. However, I do like how the story has been edited for grammar and it reads much better. But I would not recommend this app to anyone as I don’t think my friends would be satisfied with one chapter every seven hours. I will keep the app as I do love the story and want to finish it. It’s a good idea to have these sorts of novels in an app, but like I said, not properly thought through..Version: 2.6.1

Best app everIt honestly one of the best app of audiobook the I find and the story are amazing. They are exactly what I was looking for. It so good I relisten them..Version: 9.9.0

Great stories but frustrating appWhile the stories and the interactive elements themselves are really great, if you actually enjoy reading, this app will drive you insane. The stories are released in “episodes”, which take about 3-5 minutes to read, and then you have to wait 24 HOURS to read the next episode! It is not enough. Plus you read so little of each story that by the time you’ve unlocked the next episode, you’ve forgotten what happens. You can unlock them faster by posting reviews and earning points, but it would still take you around ten days to unlock one episode. Or the other option is to buy points with money, but then why not just buy an actual book? It’s going to cost less in the long run, since you have to buy episode by episode. I wish the stories were just available to download on Kindle or something..Version: 2.7.2

RidiculousWaited six hours to be allowed to read 17 lines and then another six hours for all of 11 lines. Trying to entice me into spending money to read more, I suppose. NOT happening. Galatea needs to set a reasonable minimum word limit to qualify as a chapter. These paragraphs are an insult to your readers and a clear indication that you do not care. FIRST UPDATE: Still finding the chapters to be very short. Also since the last update my reading streak has been reset to 1 and hasn’t advanced for days. Will never get to the weekly bonus at this rate. SECOND UPDATE: My reading streak has now been reset three times. Very annoying to build up to higher levels of rewards only to have them stripped away. Also, why have you changed the location of the controls? Home used to be on the left and chapters on the right. Now they are reversed. People are creatures of habit. I hope you have a good reason for the change. THIRD UPDATE: The six hours wait was bad enough. Now each subsequent chapter skipped costs more points. Also, unfinished free books don't reset when the time expires... they yield an error message so you can't even read from the beginning. I've had this app for a long time, but the bugs make it very annoying to use. FINAL UPDATE: AND you increase the wait time??? I've had enough of this nonsense and greed. I have other sources for better books without all the hassle. I will use my points to finish the lame book I'm reading, then I'm out..Version: 8.8.0

My opinionI LOVE reading, however, this app is quite frustrating. I don’t like that you have to wait 24 hours to continue reading, ESPECIALLY when it’s a good book. I’m normally happy to pay UP TO $8.00 for an E-Book, but to purchase ’points’ through Galatea you pay $8.00 for only 110 points. Yes, some books are worth that, but these stories aren’t huge novels. I realise you can ‘earn’ points, but only 1 point PER DAY, regardless of how many books you are reading. (I’m currently reading 3 different stories & I’ve already read and paid for one of the books I’m reading, but since that was through Kindle, I have to pay for it again as the author changed companies). Anyway, I’d love to see a change in the cost of points, but other than that - definitely some good books to choose from..Version: 2.7.1

Not badThe app usnt bad but here are a few things that can get annoying Negatives 1. The audio can’t be turned off permanently. I would rather read than listen to stories 2. The grammar of some stories makes for a bad read 3. It’s so annoying to have on every single screen the subscription pop up. Thank goodness you’re able to close it but every single time? POSITIVES 1. I luv getting a free chapter every 6 hours. I am reading do many books that it doesn’t matter waiting every 6 hours for the next chapter 2. I like being given opportunities to earn points 3. I like being able to switch between normal mode snd dark mode which doesn't affect how your device looks just the story Keep going guys 😁👍🏽.Version: 4.9.25

Love / HateI’ve had this app for just over a week now and though I’ve enjoyed it, I’m not sure I’ll be keeping it. This is definitely a fun way to read - it’s visionary and fresh. I haven’t read a story I haven’t enjoyed so far. The only negative I have with this app is how reading 1 chapter of a story and having to wait 24 hours isn’t a pleasant experience. You can obviously purchase more points to continue however this is where the developers come across as money hungry. I understand everyone needs to make money however it is crazy expensive to purchase more points! The price that is being charged for points is way too high. I could purchase 2-3 full length novels for less. I think maybe an option for a monthly subscription might be better. Where you pay a fee regularly and can just read as much as you like without the restrictions or money restraints. This app is definitely very well put together. The stories are interesting, authors are very talented, the interface is attractive and it keeps you more on your toes reading a story with an interactive experience - I just think the point system needs to be adjusted..Version: 3.0.0

Time is badWhenever I play it, it’s such a long wait for another episode, I would say shorten it at least because waiting until 7am every time you want another episode is ridiculous, but I know you want to keep people in their seats, and have them wait and not know what it is, if you could even just shorten it so we have to wait like 3 hours between episodes, so that’s still suspense, but that the reader can also enjoy a couple episodes a day, instead of only one, which for a reader myself, makes it very frustrating to wait a full day for another episode, so please if you could fix that, my review would then change to a 5 because this app is absolutely amazing, but to some stories there is so many episodes that you can complete a story is a quarter of a year, and I see a lot of people in the app say like “why is the wait sooooo long” and things like that, so if you could pay attention to that small detail about the time, then this would be the best app I’ve honestly ever had, and I’ve had hundreds of apps..Version: 2.5.29

Love the stories but the app needs improvementI absolutely love the stories on this app, I don’t even mind the 6 hours wait for new chapters as it means I get to read them later In the day when I should and. Not while working lol The app however is what makes me annoyed and the rating loose 2 stars, I have have delete and reinstall this app multiple times over the months, which is annoying in itself. You close it and then go to reopen the app the next day and then nothing! Delete and reinstall needed every time! Why would keep this app open all day everyday just to be able to open it?! The other annoying part is the books with audio available- you can mute them but if you have headphones attached…..For some unknown reason if you have headphones attached to phone the annoying background music keeps playing even when you have moved to a new book or a new chapters the music to get they’re stays on unless you open new music to stop the Galatea music. This is the same if you were to have attached any Bluetooth speaker as well, any playing music will be stopped when you get to new chapter. So although I love the stories and the mix of genres on here the constant deletion and reinstalling is quite annoying..Version: 5.1.37

Expensive and UnoriginalI downloaded the app to read a book I’d seen advertised a few times. The app itself can be expensive. You either have to wait 6 hours to read a new “chapter” which is very short, more like a couple of pages, or buy points. So far I’ve spent £22 on points and I’m not even half way through the book or at the main event, I’m still very much in the build up. Unfortunately I won’t be buying more points or finishing the book as I’ve lost interest after waiting 6 hours just to read for a few minutes then having to wait again. The “chapters” also go up in price very quickly, originally costing 10 points and rising to 20. So you actually end up getting through half as many chapters as you thought you would when purchasing the points, which I feel is misleading. There is a subscription option for £60 per year, so if you think you’ll read a lot I’d recommend that if you don’t want to wait. I completely understand both the app and the author has to make a profit, but for £22 I could buy a whole book, if not two, and have the pleasure of reading the whole thing..Version: 5.1.53

Categories missingI am rewriting my review of this app as there has been changes being made that has caused my opinion to change. I currently have a full membership, that by the way costs approximately $84 CAD annually. In this membership it gives you access to unlimited books. The books on this application have been amazing. I enjoyed the membership for the first year and halfway through the second year. During the second year glitches began to occur were the books would not be available when they said they would be, also crashing site where trouble with downloading occurred. Now, the problem is that when a book comes out this site only releases the first few chapters then at the last chapter it says will continue next whatever day of the week they say and 8/10 times it does not appear. The authors have said they send in the completed versions of their books and this is the site that is doing this. So currently I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP UNTIL FIXED!!!!!.Version: 8.13.10

ScamI have never written a review before so this says a lot. A few months ago I was reading one of there books I was enjoying it so I paid £5 or something like that so I could read more chapters but when I went to check my account there was nothing there I tried Google but I couldn’t find anything that could help me get my money back anyway I should of deleted it right there and then but I had books I had already paid for and waited each day so it could unlock a chapter for me on my library part of the app so I decided to keep the app and reread the books I’ve already got anyway a couple of weeks back I was reading another book I waited each day for a chapter I watch ads for points I paid for 4 extra chapters for it as I was enjoy the book today I created account as it said it would give me 10 points (it didn’t) so I deleted the account bad mistake it took all my books I’ve paid for and waited for gone, I deleted the app And downloaded it again then tried getting back into my account it wouldn’t let me. Complete scam.Version: 5.1.48

It’s alrightI like the app but it is annoying to have to wait so long for the next chapter. Should also have the option to play mini games or something for more points.Version: 9.10.0

FrustratingFrustrating to wait so long for more chapters. I can’t justify paying $85 for the lifetime Membership in one payment. Yes it’s worth it I’m sure but I can’t do it. Points for more chapters are hard to earn Once you exasperate the options initially..Version: 5.1.63

3 ThingsFirst things first, I had an account on my old phone that broke, so I got a new phone. I tried logging into my old account and they say that there was no account under that name. So I had to create a new account on my new phone, which has started me all the to the beginning of every single book. On one of my books, I’d got to chapter 132. But I am now completely disinterested in this app. I’d read multiple of the books and was rather enjoying them. Secondly, I purchased 40 twice because the first time I didn’t receive. Why? Because they scammed me of my money. The books are good and I tried to get to the next chapter, yet the 80 points were never delivered. Fix this now. Finally, the wait time. Having to wait an entire 24 hours for a chapter of a book that usually lasts about three to five minutes (7-10 if we’re lucky) is pointless. There is nothing exciting about the cliffhanger being left for twenty four hours, it just makes the reader want to leave the app and find the story somewhere else. Shortening the wait time to even twelve hours would be better! Instead of just 7am, set it to every 7o’clock (7am and 7pm). The stories are good and usually grammatically correct, and should actually be officially published because they are brilliant! But please fix these problems. Thanks x.Version: 3.1.4
