Centr: Workouts and Meal Plans for Negative User Reviews

Good app- improve with more meal plan optionsThis is a really good app but it would be great to have a meal plan option for a gluten and dairy free diet, because while you can swap meals easily and there is gf df options, I still end up swapping most of the meals in the planner out because they don’t meet my diet requirements..Version: 6.0.1

Didn’t allow me to cancel trial and refused to refundThis review does not touch on the performance of the app, but rather the business and customer service behind it. I have a hard time with subscription-based apps that require a credit card for a trial and have a no refund policy. But for a 6-week trial? I’ll bite. I was really impressed when I got an email from them reminding me that my trial was coming to a close, the date of renewal and the price. “That’s a great user experience!” I told my wife. On the last day, I proceeded to cancel the trial as I wanted to try some other apps before making a decision. I proceeded to try to cancel a handful of times, each time getting an on-screen error message stating something along the lines of “Oops, we dropped a dumbbell. Try again later.” Being from a support background in tech, I decided to try and troubleshoot before creating a support ticket. The first thing I did was remove my credit card. Success! The subscription box read something to the effect of “Trial cancelled due to no credit card on file.” No need to create a support ticket - the wording seemed confirmation enough that my trial was cancelled. The next day, I notice a charge. I look at the account and see that my subscription is live, set to cancel Feb 2022. I reached out to the support team (twice) and received a response telling me there is nothing that can be done and that I was successful in cancelling my account at the end of the period. But...I never took action on my account after the initial card removal? So either it somehow charges a card that was no longer there (curious?) or it registered the cancellation, charged anyway and then set my account to cancelled after the fact. It’s a dirty business model and one that puts the customer behind profit. Is $120 worth this review? Is it worth the time I’ll take out of my day to ensure that any conversation I hear around workout apps will be interrupted with this experience? I won’t tell anyone here how to proceed. You may love this app. You may hate it. They don’t care - they already have your money. And before you respond with the “It’s in our ToS...contact us...” macro - don’t..Version: 1.25.0

DON’T sign up, you’ll get robbed!!!Like many people on here, my wife just got charged for a whole year at $180, of course they never notified her this was going to happen, she only noticed this charge when her card bounced at the supermarket getting our weekly shop and had to go through a lovely experience of asking the very understanding store manager to hold onto the food while she borrowed some money from my mother in law. Contacted immediately (within days of the charge) explaining how important the money is to us and she doesn’t use the app. Was promptly told tough, I guess Chris needs the cash to pay for his house reno. Truly disgraceful in this day and age that companies spouting well-being will happily cause people this much anguish due to contract technicalities..Version: 4.15.0

What ever happened to good old fashioned customer service?I'm now seeing many other people with the same problem with me. I actually signed up for a monthly subscription but the system failed and charged me yearly. It's now renewed the yearly subscription with no warning. I contacted customer service and received a robotic canned response stating that I'm wrong and included screenshots with their policies. Extremely disappointed with this money hungry brand - I thought it was about the passion for fitness ?? I was thinking of resubscribing at a later date but that will certainly not happen now. Will be passing this feedback on to all people considering using this app. If there is a developers response to this review, I recommend NOT telling me to contact customer service as they do not help..Version: 1.30.0

MisrepresentatinThe app is advertised as using minimal to no equipment, yet most workouts require dumbbells/kettlebells, this was disappointing, especially given that I was really looking forward to trying centr 6 programme. There are a few workouts that do not require any equipment, and while they are advertised as full body workouts, they mostly utilise legs, or are too easy for any sort of muscle building. I also wish they gave people an option to opt out from any equipment requiring workouts, even though you can swap them on daily basis, which becomes very tiresome especially given that you have to swap the workouts for the same 3-4 workouts. If you do have access to good gym equipment, the app might work better for you! Nutrition side is fair, quite interesting recipes and the shopping list is very convenient..Version: 1.18.0

So much potentialThis app is in its infancy and that’s something to consider when writing this review. I think the video content is great, but some lack audio direction. It’s meditations are short and very helpful. It’s nutrition plan is... well very daunting to someone who is very busy or is trying to be budget conscious but receptors are simple and look great. I have issues with the Apple Music sync which is very annoying with the workout videos that are silent. There should be an option to include the audio walkthrough/commentary to the video for home workouts so your not constantly having to look if it’s over or moving on. I also expected it to be a bit more personalized in diet and exercise. Maybe an option to add body fat percentage and dietary goal (calorie allowance), parts of body you want to focus on etc. That being said I think it has superb content, it just needs to smoothen out the rough edges and then it’ll be the best app out there. I’m going to stick with it just because i really like it and expect improvements..Version: 1.1.1

Deceptive Advertising & Poor Customer ServiceAfter doing the 7-day free trial I saw significant value in paying what was advertised as $12 per month to use the app, especially because they advertise that there are no lock-in contracts and you can cancel anytime. After the 7-day trial ended, I checked my bank account to confirm the monthly fee was debited. To my surprise they charged me for THE ENTIRE ANNUAL FEE UPFRONT. I thought this surely had to be a mistake. Especially because there was no mention of the requirement to pay the full annual fee upfront. So, I contacted Customer Service and they were infuriating. I explained I couldn’t afford to pay upfront and that I needed those funds to pay life expenses, such as my rental payment. I pleaded to pay on a monthly or even quarterly basis. All they did was shove the terms & conditions in my face saying their policy says “no refunds”. After a handful of emails back and forth trying to get some sort of compassion and understanding, they stopped replying to my emails altogether and cancelled my membership. I’ve never experienced anything like this. Deceitful advertising and extremely poor customer service. I highly suggest looking elsewhere..Version: 1.26.1

ReviewSecond time using the app. Great to use. I did give a review many years ago. The only request I would have is that could you please release the upcoming week the Sunday or Monday before. Not the Thursday before. Makes it hard for those of us that plan 2 or more weeks ahead. I can’t plan for next week as it is not released until Thursday this week. For a family that plans 2 weeks ahead on a Sunday, this makes things really challenging. This is why I have dropped my star review. This was also one of the reasons I stopped my subscription and went to a meal delivery service and my own workout plan. Meal delivery services can be planned up to 4 weeks ahead. I’m back on the app as my 17 month old died suddenly and unexpectedly 4 weeks ago and I do not have the capacity to come up with new work outs..Version: 6.3.1

Brilliant - but one annoying flawBrilliant app that provides a truly holistic approach to fitness, from food to mediation to training. The app is always mixing it up to keep you motivated and I truly believe it’s not just made me look better, but has improved my stamina, balance and core. BUT, this app has one very annoying feature, which is that the small movie clips that show you the exercises during your sets turn off any music you might be listening to in your music app. And what’s super annoying about it is that the clips are silent. So, you’re listing to pumping music during a set, you go to watch one of the instructional clips to understand the movement, and silence. You then have to go out of the app, into your music app, turn back the music, and then go back to the Centr app. This is a major vibe killer. So, a great app - but if listening to motivational music is a key part of your workout, you’ll find this aspect of the app super irritating. I’ve looked for settings to turn it off, but there aren’t any. Otherwise, I’d give it five stars..Version: 1.3.0

Got bored after 4 monthsI recommend using Gymshark train instead (it’s free). I used the Centr app regularly for four months - loved the Centr Power workouts, loved the meal plans … but after I while it was just nothing new. No new bodybuilding focused plans (and the “daily workout” seems to be poorly planned throughout the week - doing the same muscle group 2 days in a row), the meals started to get repetitive and we’re always heaps of ingredients and expensive. I repeated the Centr power twice and then ran out of good workouts to do. I kept the app for another 6 months for recipes, but it’s really not worth the subscription fee. I can get better workouts on the Gymshark app (FREE) and I can download recipes for free from Google..Version: 4.8.0

Stand behind your productSo here's my biggest complaint, along with quite a few others if you read reviews: No refunds. So on the ads and website many times it references "Cancel at any time" making one think you can, in fact, cancel and get a refund for the service you no longer wish to receive. But that's not the case. In fine print it says that you can cancel, but still have the opportunity to use the app because they aren't going to refund. The recipes are great, the meditations are nice, the workouts are tough, but do-able. But I have 3 kiddos and by week 2 they were done trying different foods and just wanted some normalcy. Now, this is ok and something I took I to consideration. But going into week 3, I'm now spending majority of my day cooking and cleaning. I don't always have 30 mins and access to a oven/stove for lunch. This just started to become something I can't maintain. Unfortunately, this company doesn't understand that not every diet/health program will fit 100% of people trying it. I now have a yearly subscription that I won't use. And they are NOT budging. Maybe I've just grown accustomed to great customer service, but this feels wrong to me..Version: 1.21.0

Potential but...The concept of incorporating a workout routine, daily diet, and other self-help things like meditation, etc into a daily and weekly planner is great, but for me so many things were missed. First of all the workouts were challenging but simple and mundane. Also much of the core work involves a lot of intense exercises that require a lot of “knee” work like gorillas and what resembles floor work breakdancing! These moves are really not made for people like myself that are over 40 and have had knee surgeries and issues. The meditations and self help things during the day would be more helpful if a suggested schedule or even an alarm to “take a break” and do a 5 to 10 minute meditation would be more useful. Most days I would skip this because I work out in the afternoon and not see them during the day. As for the diet, well, it’s just ridiculous. There was one breakfast recipe that required an hour of preparation!? Not even on a weekend day would that makes sense. Many days have things like leftovers from previous days recipes and most required 10+ ingredients and most prep times 30 to 45 minutes and frankly we’re not really even that healthy. On top of that there were some tech quirks like not being able to listen to your music while their video was running. So I hope they improve it but for me it was not a great match..Version: 1.1.1

Don’tChris fails to tell everyone don’t forget to use some anabolic or whatever. Yes another fake making money on Oh! just eat chicken lol..also from the reviews don’t ever give your credit card….Version: 5.4.0

UnimpressedWas extremely excited about this app but the application itself seems to be a glorified web app and works about as well. No iPad version so don’t plan on watching these workouts on your tablet. I tried loading up the workout for day 2 and found that the app really wants you to own an Apple Watch. To the point that I couldn’t get a couched workout to play without viewing the health settings for the watch. I get that it makes it better but if I don’t have my watch I guess that means that I don’t get to workout the way I want. I did grab my watch and do the boxing workout fantastic workout but not sure it did anything special but then again it’s just the first week. Oh but when I went to stop the workout I got nothing but errors. I’m actually pretty certain the app is still running a workout on my watch. The recipes seem interesting but do require some new staples. By my estimate about $130 of just staple ingredients and then any week to week produce and meats you need. Anyways with the subscription costs, the food costs, equipment/gym membership and the apps general usability this is a don’t buy from me. Hope it improves!.Version: 1.0.9

Great content, poor UXThe quality of the content is amazing. But I find its UX quite bad. I couple of simple things I would change for the self guided trainings: - during the resting time, don’t stop the countdown if the app goes in the background, keep it going and send a push notification 5 seconds before it ends - add the option to postpone an exercise, going to the gym, not all the machines are always available. Just skipping it, just postponing it will help to execute it when the machine is free - during the rest time, show the logbook for the next exercise in order to use that time to get another weight - some exercise titles are too long and there is no way to read it all. The videos are randomly stopping while the audio goes on, allow to predownload the videos to avoid this..Version: 4.12.0

Auto renewal occurs with out warningThere is no email about your account auto renewal so they will charge you without warning. When I reached out to them about maybe just paying the month out they sent a generic email about their terms and conditions. I cancelled the account 2 days after the auto renewal. It’d be nice if companies could show some compassion… that’s pretty ruthless.Version: 5.2.0

AppalledI brought this app and used it for a month or two. I then unsubscribed via my apple subscription to still be billed for another year. I have written to ask why this has happened and apparently you have to do it via both app and website. I am disappointed in this large business taking advantage of me. I have not used this app in well Over a year and have been charged. Customer service was no help. Oh and when I tried to unsubscribe from the website today my account was down and I couldn't even get into the right page due to it being down. I am angry I have been denied a refund.Version: 6.5.0

Nice design but needs better music integration and clearer instructions to avoid videosIt’s a great look and feel app. A few things really need fixing ASAP as they really detract from the whole experience: 1. Allow music to play from other apps while playing instruction videos during workout. It either assumes you’ll watch before and remember (yeah right) or you don’t listen to music (most training research shows music helps spur you on!!) 2. Allow scaling of meals so that portions come out with right calories. Link with 3 below would be a good start 3. Make the profile info more detailed and have other criteria like body shape , body fat %, current fitness level (beep test result or exercise bike fitness test) to better tailor plans. Especially meals. 4. Sync with health and other apps to track weight etc. haven’t found it yet. Should be easy to spot if you’ve got it..Version: 1.3.2

Programs not workingVery glitchy to access programs. Just a mama trying to get in a quick workout and frustrated that my program won’t load..Version: 6.5.0

Trial is a scam!I downloaded Centr and signed up for the 7 day trial. I was immediately charged $119.99, even though it said I have a 7 day trial. I went into the App Store and reviewed my purchases and subscriptions, and didn’t see it there since they process payment outside of Apple. I then proceeded to login and cancel the trial within the 7 days. They are telling me that they aren’t honouring the trial and that I should have reached out on day 1 of seeing the charge and not at the end of the 7 day trial. I will be disputing this and I would recommend an app like FitBod instead of this scam app..Version: 5.4.0

Feel bad about giving 3 starsI gave it a shot with the 1 week free trial. Here is my personal opinion about the app: Positive: -The meal plans are amazing, the recipes are amazing. For someone who is lacking creativity regarding their weekly meal prep, this app is great for that. -the interface is great, the picture or video options are also great. Negative (my personal opinion): - The training programs are very trend oriented. Maybe the app is targeting people who have less time to go to the gym, so they do home workouts, maybe it’s something else, but I find the library of workouts lacking for someone who is for exemple looking for a sports performance oriented program..Version: 1.5.2

Be Careful re: SubscriptionI did the Centr 7 day trial and signed up for three months. With all subscriptions I make sure it’s cancelled as soon as I pay, unfortunately I made the misstep of checking the subscription was cancelled in my iOS settings (which it was) - and not by the desktop account. I enjoyed the app, I thought the recipes and workouts were good (especially the Friday MMA lady). The meal planning section can definitely be improved and I think it would be a lot better if the workouts continued in full screen all the way through (so if it’s connected to a tv you don’t have to stop after warm up and full screen the workout again). However, upon returning to work and that terrible commute I didn’t have the privilege of time to use Centr. I presumed I had it all cancelled (because it was ‘cancelled’ in iOS). Yesterday, I received a charge for $63.99 for another three months of Centr. I thought this must be a mistake I thought I cancelled it and I received no correspondence that my membership was going to renew, no matter, I contacted customer support. They said that there are no refunds not even for accidental purchases or unused subscriptions. I thought perhaps I was a lone fool in this mishap but upon a quick google I have discovered that I am not alone in this happening. Although this has happened in the past, Centr have still not changed their policies or correspondence regarding subscription renewal. I am incredibly disappointed in Centr whom promote health, wellness, and mindfulness at the center of their brand. I have two stars as the blonde MMA lady’s workouts are great but everything else has been pretty disappointing..Version: 1.12.0

Gary manningI love the app but only some of the training works with chromcast. If this cannot be changed I will eventually quit the app.Version: 6.6.2

Bugs won’t let me use the appThe planner screen is locked with the « Loading » preview and never loads..Version: 1.3.4

Takes money, can’t access the appI can’t access the app but charges my account every month..Version: 1.6.1

Like the app but worst customer service.I find the instructors and information really good, but find the customer service infuriating (to the point that this is the first time I’ve left a review). It took them 17 days to respond to me when I couldn’t log on, apparently my account was hacked, and they said it took that long to fix but they don’t give you a holding line, or a check in email, just radio silence. They then cancelled my account, without asking, and gave my a voucher for a month. If I sign back up I have to pay a different rate to the rate that was just about to be charged for renewal than as I’m now a new customer rather then getting a discounted rate which I was entitled to because of when I signed up. So the voucher has made it more expensive. Emailed them a few weeks ago, and again radio silence. Whilst I think the app is great I won’t be using it again as I think their customer service is terrible. With apps I wouldn’t expect to have to worry about customer service, but I’ve also never had to worry about an app being hacked before, and I think you shouldn’t be such a hassle for basic things help logging in..Version: 1.21.0

Payed appI preordered the app I was exited to try it but after going past the login screen it wanted me to chose a payment plan I would have liked to try some workouts before having to by a plan for 24$ per month.Version: 1.0.9

A messThe designer had had full liberty in this product, the result ... an absolute mess. Not sure where to begin. Why is “settings” on the home screen? It’s not a regular function. Why no options for people that don’t like sea food. What bodybuilders don’t eat meat? They’ve sacrificed threads and being cool aka vegan vs hard science and ways you can always get fit. Also I open the app expecting a workout from Thor. But it’s some random that I don’t even care to know about. Next....Version: 1.0.9

Not working anymore?I have been using this regularly since February. I really enjoy the workouts and casting to my Google Chrome cast. Now, I cast and a second in, the app switches to the completed workout screen and won't actually play....extremely frustrating and doesn't make me want to keep using this....Version: 5.8.0

Terrible customer serviceCanceled the day the free trial ended, was already charged $119 for a year subscription. Customer service says they won’t give refunds for “accidental purchases” or “late cancellation” The app is not worth the money. It’s not user friendly and there is no personalization for the meal plans, a very one size fits all approach. Very unhappy and unimpressed 😞.Version: 4.2.0

This is a SCAMI tried the free trial, things were great and dandy. The food was good, the workouts were okay (just showing you how to do exercises and putting them in a schedule for you.) I tried to cancel the free trial on the app as I didn’t want to continue. Well, the app won’t let you cancel. Fine enough, I’ll go to the site, type in the wrong password a few times and finally get through. I get to the membership section and try to cancel. Seems easy enough. At the end of the trial I get a bill. Huh, must be a mistake. Contact the support team and they state they can not give a refund when I’m now one day into my one year membership. Oh but they assured me its now canceled so next may I won’t be charged. Also there’s a promise this is by Chris hemsworth. I gave this a good try and he had one short meditation read through. These people are SCAMMERS. DO NOT TRY THIS APP. Further update after developer response: They state their terms are clear and you need to cancel on the platform you signed up on. Let’s get this very clear. YOU CAN NOT CANCEL FROM THE APP. Then they say to email them. Too late, already tried that. Fix your app so people can cancel from it. They also note that Apple won’t remove any low star ratings. I’m not sure why they feel the need to mention this but good; as they shouldn’t. Especially when there was nothing in my review that wasn’t honest at the time of writing..Version: 4.10.0

Charged me another yearly fee and are not providing access to their appI downloaded this in December 2019 and bought a year membership. Liked the app just fine, but it kept signing me out. Finally, I think in the late spring, it allowed me to sign in but then said I had to pay to restore my membership. I tried for a couple of weeks without access. In December 2020, I was charged another membership fee for another $90+. I logged back on and it still tells me to restore my membership for a fee. I sent in an email explaining this and requesting a refund. They acknowledged that my account was inactive because the registration process was incomplete. Then they refused to issue a refund. They know they haven’t been providing the service I’ve paid for and plan on keeping my money anyway. They also have made no effort to restore my service, so they have just blatantly stolen my money. Please give your money to a company with better business ethics than this. Any company that tricks you into a yearly subscription fee knows they have a poor product. Centr won’t stand behind their program and makes no effort at customer service..Version: 1.22.0

⚠️ They Track YouThey track you across apps and the web. See the App Privacy section of their App Store page for details. Do you really trust a company that does that? No doubt they’ll reply below with some excuses as to why this is necessary and/or not a concern..Version: 6.5.0

Waste of money, no ethical principles, scamTo start, the product is simple and inadequate for the price that they charge. You just don’t get nearly enough to be paying $30/month. Additionally and most importantly, the business model is a clear scam. I started a free trial to test the product and before my trial was up, I was charged $119 for a 1-year subscription. Upon asking customer service to cancel my subscription and refund me, they told me no. I’m out $119 and have this garbage workout app on my phone for a year, an app I will never use because there is much better stuff out there. Please don’t download this app, the free trial will trap you and you will have to pay full price for something you will not want. For someone who has been working out for 10+ years, I thought this app would provide fresh workout content, however it’s just another at-home workout app with basic exercises and basic material. Extremely disappointment that Chris Hemsworth ties his name to such a terrible business model and even worse people. The people behind the app very clearly have no ethical boundaries and are just preying on people to sign up for free trials so they can charge their credit cards full price. tldr; 0/10 product, even worse customer support, and a giant waste of $119. I don’t recommend this app to anyone and recommend taking your business elsewhere..Version: 4.2.0

Mediocre app, terrible customer service- money hungryI wish I had read these reviews signing before signing up. I signed up for a 6 week trial, had an okay experience and therefore decided to continue with a years subscription. However my personal circumstances changed when my mum was taken into hospital for a few months, so I stopped using the app. With no warning, Centr took another £93 from me last week for another years subscription. I had previously tried to cancel in advance, but couldn’t work out how to do so - therefore assumed this would not be an issue. Despite reading the review below where a customer with a very similar experience HAS been refunded I found they will not give me my money back. That’s £160 in Hemsworths pocket for an app that has not given me any value. Something tells me I need it more than he does- an absolute joke. To the app itself, it’s okay. However meal plans/ cooking is complex. I just didn’t have time to keep on top of this when mum got ill. Workouts were good, but the need for dumb bells for quite a few sessions was annoying as didn’t have any..Version: 4.3.2

Terrible customer service and app so and soThe app seems to be great at the beginning, but after a while the user soon realizes that is hard to integrate it in the everyday life and not that engaging. In addition to this, the customer service is not good, it is too profit oriented..Version: 6.5.0

Great App! Great Program! Horrible Customer Service!Centr is great for people of all backgrounds! It’s app is easy to use and has a great variety of workouts! They also structure a plan in a way that is easy to follow. However this is not receiving 5 stars simply for their backend customer service. I cancelled my plan the day before the next billing cycle because of financial reasons. What they do next is charge me and then proceed to send an email asking why I cancelled. Now I had every intention of signing back up again once I get some more financial stability, but the fact they charged me after I cancelled is where I am upset. Once I realized what had happened I filed for some help on the customer service page. No number and said they will get back to me in 2-3 days. Enough time for payment to finish processing… Now I do understand I should have taken the initiative to cancel sooner, but it goes to show how much I enjoyed using Centr. I’m just disappointed in their lack of backend service. Will change this review if situation improves… but for now all those considering Centr, just be aware that their backend service is awful..Version: 4.3.2

Excellent content but buggy applicationLove the content and focus on functional training … it is a bit buggy … slow to load and sometimes slow to save workouts.Version: 6.5.0

Trial members be aware...Like many of us, I saw many people pushing this App and all the wonderful things they are doing for us during COVID by giving us a free trial. So I signed up to see what the app was about. Of course you have to enter in all of your personal information to get anywhere. I did that and scrolled through a few pages. Well, eventually I forgot about the app all together. Next thing I know, 6 weeks is up and I am being charged $119 for the year. I had previously been on my Apple subscription pages checking on other products and this wasn’t there. So I completely forgot about it. I wrote asking for a refund. I never used a single thing in the app, ever. Of course that was denied. Now I have an app for a year I never used. Honestly, it’s disappointing that it feels like you are being tricked into keeping this service. Other apps that have trials, they send you emails telling you the trial is up, or will be up — and that was after 7 days! I can remember a 7 day trial, but 6 weeks?! I signed up, forgot about it and you don’t send me a reminder letting me know I am about to get charged?! That’s the worst customer service in my mind. Do yourself a favor, don’t download this app. Especially if you don’t plan on using it. No refunds available. They really should be ashamed of themselves..Version: 1.8.1

Not working for daysLike a recent comment, I really loved this app. Easy to use, great content. But it’s been down for a few days not and it’s super frustrating. I’ve become reliant on the app and struggle with the gym without it. Less motivated and being held less accountable. It sounds silly to complain about but if your personal trainer just stopped showing up you’d be frustrated as well..Version: 6.5.0

Still Under Development? Really Irritating. My experience was pretty bad honestly. Just error after error after error. All was good up until I tried exploring the app. I would tip on the recipes and snacks and all that would show up was a frayed out book and “nothing found, please broaden your search”. I hadn’t even put anything into a search. I didn’t even realize we COULD search. So that irritated me a bit, but I figured maybe it’s just because of the plan I chose. So I explored some more, checked out the shopping list option. I thought maybe it’d give me a list from those recipes to choose from, I couldn’t even get past the first page because it was not letting me tap on a date. After several tries, I gave up, went to go check out the work out section. I thought “this is primarily an exercise app, this page has GOT to work.” Nope. Same “no results, broaden your search” message came up, but this time instead of letting me leave the page it just logged me out completely. It won’t let me log me back in either. I’m only 30 minutes into this subscription and already ready to cancel it. What’s the point in a free trial if nothing works during that trial, y’know?.Version: 1.0.9

Shady subscription that’s hard to get out ofHidden behind small print is the fact you need to log out on all devices. I had unsubscribed on the phone but then got charged and was told it was my fault for not cancelling off online. A classic Ponzi scheme to take your money and tell you you can snack a banana in between meals. Go to the gym for best results..Version: 1.9.0

So CloseI tried the 1 week trial but decided not to purchase at this time. I enjoyed the workouts where the coach spoke to you but many of them had no vocal instructions with them. They simply showed the person doing the exercise but didn’t discuss technique which is what I expected on the coached versions. I’m a beginner and hearing the little tips helps tons; for example in other workout video they said “put your weight through your heels not your toes” that one thing completely changed what I did even though the motion I performed looked similar to the video. Without that coaching it felt empty and I didn’t look forward to it. Adding music would also help, but they do have a great feature where you can link your own songs. Features I loved were the ability to filter on the coach, the integrated meal plans, and daily schedule. It was awesome to be able to go search by coach or focus area. All of the meals looked amazing I wish I had time to try them all. I would have kept this if all of the coaches talked to coach you through the exercise. Even if they dub the voice over the existing videos this wold be improvement and be very helpful for beginners. I’d also like to see stretching integrated at the beginning of the workout. Sometimes they used large gym equipment not typical for a home and it would be nice to have alternative moves suggested. I’m going to look around a bit more but hope the voice coaching is added to the videos this would probably bring me back..Version: 1.5.2

Uh...subscription wall immediatelyNo idea if app is any good, preordered and installed and was treated to immediate subscription paywall. Thor is crazy..Version: 1.0.9

Not as expectedI honestly thought this app was going to be great and it’s just another random app. My partner and I started using this during Sydney’s lockdown which meant we could not go to the gym. At the beginning it was great. Very dynamic, but after the weeks passed by it became boring. The warm ups are exactly the same each week. They change probably once during a whole program and the options available for people who don’t have access to gym equipment are limited. Most of them require at least basic equipment which not everyone has at home. The programs with weights are all self-guided, which don’t work that good unless you have certain knowledge. I then cancelled the subscription after I was charged for another period to my surprise that I was then charged again for another period 3 months after. I immediately emailed the customer service to request a refund as I continued as “Active” although U had cancelled. They then responded saying they don’t do refunds for mistakes orate cancellations. So I am stuck with another period of an app I didn’t like. Very disappointed to be honest. I am only giving it 3 stars because I somehow enjoyed it at the beginning. Otherwise I would have given it a 2..Version: 4.1.2

Scam, unprofessional, and shady1 star for the content on the app after 2 weeks (had and paid for the app for a year and barely used it) 0 stars for customer service. If you don’t have the app/ subscription, it’s really not that great. Very basic and once you do one or two weeks it’s literally the same workouts for a year. The meal plan is very basic and not worth the $120 you spend for the year. There are plenty of workout routines you can find online that are so much better. Also if you do signup and realize that you don’t want it anymore, don’t forget to mark in your calendar to cancel because they will charge you again for another year of the same basic workouts and meal plans and will give you the run around and tell you basically they don’t care that not only did they not tell you but they won’t refund you. Also they will say something about outlining the terms and conditions but what they won’t tell you is they make it impossible to cancel on time. Most businesses will warn you before charging you but this company will take your money and then cancel your subscription and keep your money. Simply put they are thief’s..Version: 6.5.0

Sorry we dropped the dumbbellWont allow access to any program, its been many days and I cant use this app after paying the annual membership fees..Version: 6.5.0

Cancelled subscriptionI loved this app when I first subscribed to it in 2020. But I haven’t loved the changes after it was sold. The newer workouts all seem to require purchasing their new equipment or having more equipment for your home-based work out. There was zero transparency in what caused the issues when the app stopped working. I’m sure that in the next six months it will come out that they were hacked and all of our data leaked with a no-meaning apology for it. Additionally, the recipes and menus have become repetitive with the same flavour profile regardless of how the meal is positioned. Now that gyms are back in full force, I’m happier spending more on in-person work outs with a face and name of the trainer or owner of the gym who I can talk to and will respond if something is wrong..Version: 6.5.0

Crooked company with fake reviewsI joined for trial and after one day I lost interest. A week before expiry I cancelled it on their website. Keep in mind that they make you work for it. Their cancellation is done outside of the app. When I told their customer service that I cancelled through their site but somehow they didn’t receive any cancellation as per their policy they refused refunds regardless of the situation. I didn’t even use the app but these greedy people keeping my money. I will contact my credit card company for chargeback and I’ll file complain against these crooks. Shame on you!.Version: 1.25.0

It’s good but it could be greatGreat workouts. Great recipes. ....but it some of the workouts feel raw and unfinished. For example Centr 6. The weekly workout is great but it’s the same thing every week for 6 weeks. I think having different workouts every week or every 2 weeks would be much more interesting and the user could learn more moves. It also doesn’t feel finished. What I mean is there needs to be a timer displayed for each move as well as start and stop sounds. The name of the exercise should also be displayed the entire time you are supposed to be performing it. This is not the case and some times I lose track of where I am. I also want to mention that sometimes it feels like they only did one take of the exercise and went with it. Having a little more rigidity within each workout session would go a long way. Some other suggestions would be having substitutes for some of the meal ingredients like something that would be easier to find at your local grocery. Don’t get me wrong though the meals are delicious I just can’t always find or afford the ingredients that are used. Also having the option to do the workouts with out having the music and trainers talking in the background and just having a timer and start/stop sounds. That way I can play my own music but still keep track of the time. Having a way to integrate your own music into the programs and workouts would be amazing. Overall it’s a really good app but with some improvements it could be a great app.Version: 1.12.0

Very poor onboardingI went through the process to pre-order the app and pay in advance for this?!?! Where’s my custom plan? Where are the gender-based workouts? It’s all so clunky and hard to find. The ads made this app seem cool and revolutionary. The actual product is not that great. Not impressed..Version: 1.0.9

Ok but not for those just startingThis is a decent workout app, there are some solid exercises in here and routines. It does the basics of giving you a schedule and helping to keep yourself accountable throughout, and from what I’ve read the meal planning is great (haven’t done it, I’m comfortable with my meal planning already). As far as the instructionals, they are supremely lacking. When it comes to performing certain exercises, there is little to no guidance given as far as what to feel, how your body should be positioned, proper form, etc. The most guidance you will get is from the Pilates portion. But I would go as far as saying it is dangerous for novices jump right into some of these workouts. Otherwise, you need to really slow yourself down and analyze the instructors’ body movements to get the full effect or you’re just going to injure yourself. Some of the advanced moves like in Da Rulk’s training and Luke’s is great, but it needs to be explained. If not broken down, I can see a lot of people easily being overwhelmed from the get go and giving up before even starting their journey. It seems like they attached a few famous names to a workout app and asked them to send in videos of them working out. I was in the physical fitness industry before this pandemic, and I want to see people succeed but I feel like this could put a lot of people off as well..Version: 1.10.0

No refunds ever. Period.Centr refuses to give refunds for any reason. Accidentally renew your subscription and email the second you get charged? Too bad. Money down the drain. Get cancer and need to go to the hospital? Try out their meal ideas cause you’ll still have the app. Be careful on their purchase page because it says you can cancel any time, it never says you can get any money back. Zero sympathy at all. Never fund companies like this. You’d think Chris Hemsworth would care as this app rids on his persona. Welp, I guess not!.Version: 5.4.0

App let’s this downThis could be the best fitness app on the market at the price I paid. The reality is the App just drives me insane. I workout at home and they say you can cast this to your tv. The reality is you can not cast to the tv all the programmes. Right now I can even cast the programmes I could cast. I have tried to resolve this with support but they don’t seem to think it’s an issue. It may be a small thing to most but seeing the app on a big screen, seeing the form the instructor is doing, seeing what’s next, how long left etc rather than having my phone and needing to look at it is not conducive to training. Real shame.Version: 5.8.0

An opportunity lost.Centr had potential to be something great with such an all star cast. However it missed the mark widely. There is nothing scheduled. Everything is self guided and left to the whims of the user. Staff included a dietitian but there’s no meal plans. Just a gargantuan list of recipes for you to raffle through on your own. No macros calculators. Guides. Nothing. Half the roster are personal trainers but there is no structured workout plans. “Today you eat x, y, and z. You will do workout a. Tomorrow you will eat x, y and z. Workout is b.” Is what I expected. The first thing the app does is ask for your stats and your goal. Weight loss? Bulking? Lean muscle growth? Ok great. You pick one then nothing in the app guides you specifically to that. Apps like “crush” provide literally hand held mealplans and full weekly workout routines for every goal type for less money. All they lack is Thor. 🤷🏼‍♂️.Version: 1.0.9

App isn't working and hasn't been for weeksThe website isn't letting me load anything either. I have been enjoying this program since November 2022 but suddenly the app isn't working and I can't get any information from the website either. I have paid the fee for the year subscription but with no access to the service I am at a loss as to how to proceed. Can someone from Centr get back to me? I have done all the standards stuff like reboots and reloads, different devices, etc 🤔.Version: 6.5.0

Just online app! It’s a very nice app, I really like it and the exercise are great!!! Well explained and it’s awesome... but I must say that even if it’s an online app you also need to have in mind that people don’t usually do exercise in a gym or a house, and limiting the app to just be used online and with unlimited data you are narrowing your market with out need of doing it. Allow to people to be able to use it offline.. Persons travel, go to places with out internet (even that’s seems impossible in this days) but welcome to New Zealand!!!!!!! The team could just make it to download a few sessions and would still be practical and fun. Cheers Diego Comesana from New Zealand.Version: 1.23.0

Stole my moneyI cancelled this app a week after getting purchasing the free trial. A year later and I see a charge on my account for $99.99. No notice, no warning, and I had no current subscription for this app. Do not install this app unless your more than happy to part with $100 for nothing.Version: 1.30.0

SubscriptionU guys keep taking money from me even after not having my new information!!! And still haven’t returned my last subscription I didn’t sign up for!!!!.Version: 3.12.1

It has potentialThe whole concept of the app is phenomenal. However, it’s execution isn’t great. Granted the app offers a huge variety of meals and exercises but, I’ve found that the app isn’t designed to accommodate the average human that doesn’t have all the time in the world to go shopping for loads of different ingredients. Ideally, they creators could bring in either simpler recipes with ingredient that most households have or they could introduce a selection of foods that only requires say 5 of the same ingredients, kinda like one of Jamie Oliver’s 5 ingredient books in which all the meals use more or less the same ingredients generally with only a few changes. Huge potential here but, I can’t see myself or the average person being able to follow this, so I won’t be renewing my subscription..Version: 1.2.2

Do not warn you about payments and refuse refundsI used the app for a while and stopped using it. A year later they took a large amount of money from my bank account with no warning as a subscription renewal. I contacted them within 2 hours to ask for a refund and was told “we don’t do refunds”. The email was very passive aggressive. I am also not sure this stance in compliant with the NZ Consumer act 2015. I’m sure Chris and team have enough money without having to resort to this kind of practice?.Version: 4.10.0

Deceptive billing practicesAbsolutely do not recommend this app. They have deceptive billing practices. I preordered this app when it was first released. The app has no functionality to cancel the subscription, or to determine if/when another would be taken. The subscription also doesn’t show up in your Apple subscriptions so you can’t cancel it or monitor the subscription from there also. I contacted them days after I was unknowingly billed almost $100. They avoided responding for over a week and when they finally did, they refused to refund me despite not giving me an appropriate way to monitor or cancel the subscription. Awful experience. In addition to this the app functionality in general is poor. You can’t sort the recipes or add any to a favourites list so that they’re easy to find. Would never purchase a thing from this company again. I would give this app and this company zero stars..Version: 1.6.2

Be carefulDownloaded the trial and then cancelled however was never foi en a cancellation email - then the next year I was suddenly deducted a years service amount. When I contacted customer service they said it was my own fault for not cancelling subscription even though I had and they couldn’t prove I hadn’t, moreover I had never logged in once or used any service. On top of that they also advised I will be charged again next year as it was already one day into new year cycle and they would not cancel my subscription unless I did it before that year began even though I expressed I wouldn’t use the app nor that this is highly unjustified business and countered with the fact they also never sent me an email to advise my subscription would be renewed either. Dodgy. I’m sure it works fine for the people who wish to engage with the app but for those who were curious but decided against I have been stuck with a $200 unrefundable fee for something I never used. Gross.Version: 3.8.2

Single mom of 3I tried the free trial and only thing I found that motivated me were the Pilates and recipes. I am a personal trainer myself and being at home during covid thought this may help. I expected workouts from Chris himself more so then others. A lot of the workouts had more cardio base and ok to training. Definitely not suited for one who just had a baby and a fractured foot I couldn’t jump on Exocet for the Pilates classes. They expect us to have all this equipment and many don’t. When I tried to cancel during the free prescription I could not. I couldn’t contact them or find a number to call or email. They gave no reminder or email prior to charging my visa over 100 dollars. They don’t give refunds. So disappointed and this is the last thing I needed during these times. I will make sure all I know don’t try this app. Not worth it and I felt robbed/ripped off..Version: 1.9.0

Rating the payment procedure/refund/customer serviceHey! I would like to make it clear that I am rating the payment procedure taken by the app and assistance provided. Not the app overall. I got super excited when I had the chance to try the app and signed up on a 6 week free trial and as per the app, I was given the impression an average of $10 a month would be charged to my card and I could cancel it at any given moment, so imagine how surprised I was when I woke up to almost $100 deducted from my account. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, jobs a being lost and the world is going a bit crazy, I think this wasn’t really good faith from their part. No warning, no disclaimers at all that I can recall. When I messaged the customer service team, all I got was an automatic message saying they don’t do refunds as per their terms and conditions and policies. App is good, good exercises, good trainers, only recommendation to users is to read the fine lines and if you looking to try the app, be careful, because you won’t get your money back..Version: 1.9.0

Meals.....Workouts are the best workouts I’ve ever done, you definitely feel stronger after them and having so many different variations of workouts from weights to body weight exercises to boxing cardio. It’s a fantastic variation which definitely makes it easier. The big down side is, i and many other can’t afford the food shop every week.... your looking at nearly £200 a week (ball park figure) to have the breakfast, lunch and dinners...with the snacks you could be looking at £250... I was doing the build muscle plan so I don’t know if it would be different to someone trying to lose weight. If they could split the workouts and meals and do separate subscription, I would 100% without a doubt be signing up for the workouts!! But unfortunately the meals, you just need to many ingredients and looks way to expensive.Version: 1.1.1

Do not buyMade a mistake of paying for the whole year and regretting it. The app is designed good and has amazing workouts but the support and technical issues aren’t worth it. This whole week I went to the gym only to find out that the apps program tab doesn’t load and I’m left with wondering what my next workout is. The support is terrible. Keep offering me a solution to give me a free month whatever I can do with that free month if the app doesn’t work. Can’t even request for a refund from Apple anymore since I purchased 2-3 months ago and it’s doesn’t show up on recent purchases to request refunds. Pls stay away from this app. Didn’t think it could take this long for them to find a fix..Version: 6.5.0

Love this app but hasn’t been working in daysPlease fix the issue asap :) Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, logging into the website instead of the app and same issue. Been using this for a few months and love the different type of workouts..Version: 6.5.0

Well designed but problematic at busy gymsWell designed app with in-depth workout programs and videos of how to do them. In addition to this there are recipes and other well-being tips. I didn’t think it was a stand out compared to other apps on the market (and there are a lot of them). From that retrospect, the price point is also very high. The biggest problem for me was that some of the weight routines have you moving around a lot of different equipment which isn’t always easily accessible. For example, my gym only has one deadlift machine. This can be problematic if you’re a member of a busy gym and make these workouts really tedious when you’re having to wait around for the machine/equipment you need. What might have set this app apart if there was an option to choose alternative exercises and/or see lower impact versions. I gave up quickly on it for that reason..Version: 4.7.0

Just not thereNo music. No clock. No guidance. No list of upcoming exercises. No instructor energy. The exercise videos are just not at a level you would expect from a purchased app. There’s no clock to tell you how much time is left, just a meaningless bar at the bottom of the screen. The instructors don’t provide suggestions to improve technique. There aren’t additional people in the videos showing modifications. This format is certainly not for beginners, as they’ll quickly become frustrated. The lack of music in the videos contribute to the overall lack of energy. The lack of ‘workout buddies’ in the videos also make for a poor video. There’s no opportunity for the instructor to show good form, modifications, or even banter. What you end up with is a very flat, uninspiring workout video. There isn’t anything special about the routines. Pretty standard stuff. Compare this to the energy, excitement, and variety you get in a Les Mills or Beachbody workout, and you’ll instantly understand what I’m talking about. I tried this, because programs like Les Mills lack the overall integrated diet and wellness plan, but those features can’t overcome what the Centr exercise routines are lacking..Version: 1.30.0

Pretty layout, but novice program designBilling itself as a comprehensive plan I was curious, but this really intended for those who need to be told what to do and is not really a tool for those with knowledge. Apple lists this as free, with in app purchases. That is misleading. It is a subscription model and a rather expensive one at that. The genuine information is tucked away, but you must look for it. Nevertheless I thought it was worth checking out during the free week. First time I opened it, I immediately got the introductory email from them. Looked around. Not for me and can’t keep it at that price. Unsubscribe. During the next week, anytime I opened the app, I would get three solicitation emails within an hour. I don’t really like being actively tracked this way. I unsubscribed to the email list and despite deliberately checking off I didn’t want to receive these types of communication back on the first use, I am still getting bombarded a week later. If you need motivation to “do something” and aren’t overly concerned with progression or clear training protocols, this might be worth a look. However, for the subscription fee I think it should be more. I have other free training apps that provide a clear progression path and more structure at no cost..Version: 1.5.2

May be great for nutrition but not fitnessFor anyone who’s been working out for awhile, “advanced” on this is more for an intermediate or strong beginner level. For the amount you pay, I expected the fitness (especially coming from Hemsworth trainers!!) to be much tougher. There are free, legitimately advanced, workouts you can find on YT that will work your body much harder than these programs. Additionally, I missed canceling the trial by one day, customer service would not even consider refunding a pending charge. I’m not the best at canceling in time and have done it with several other subscription services and all have been forgiving and allowed me a full refund. The one good thing I will say about this app is it’s the only one I’ve seen out there that not only offers nutrition and fitness information but also puts a strong emphasis on mental health. It is a very well rounded program, just needs some improvement, as it advertises to be “tailored” to each persons needs. There are definitely some things I’m not seeing..Version: 1.12.0

Poor AppGot the app 3 years ago and loved it. Working out with Luke, Ralk and Bobby was terrific and I was in the best shape I had been in years. Changes that I wasn’t thrilled with was that some of the workouts seemed to be getting shorter. What was 35-40 minutes became 20 or so. Then I suffered a severe burn on my foot and stopped working out till it healed. When I went back to Centr it had major glitches. Workouts stopped between warm up, workout and cool down. Freezing or just not working seemed common. I used Centr in addition to running but the frequency of glitches peaked in August when the app would even open. The Centr sent an email of a free month and sadly that didn’t materialize either. So calculating the cost vs how much I had access I didn’t renew. Sadly I miss the workouts but I don’t miss the technical issues. May return if they work those things out. But a final thought seems to be a heavy reliance on equipment now. I travel and usually spaces are tight so Centr was perfect. Now it seems to be moving to more gym equipment focused workouts . I wonder if the archive of workouts from the early days of Centr are available. I would use them. I couldn’t find them when I looked but the app wasn’t working well either. Let me know..Version: 6.5.0

Great content - can’t always access itI have absolutely loved the content in this app. The workouts are fun and easy to follow. The huge variety of meal options has been great for our whole family. The meditations are grounding and a helpful introduction to the world of guided meditation. Unfortunately, I have had to cancel my subscription as for the last few months I have had issues being able to load content. It goes down for a week at a time. I hadn’t been able to access any content for a few days when my subscription came up for renewal. A sad ending after being with Centr for a few years..Version: 6.5.0

Subscription cancellation error - “tough luck”Like many of these reviews receiving one star, I had had unsubscribed but was charged the subscription fee ($95!) regardless. I emailed the online help desk straight away to explain the situation but like many others they basically said tough luck, there was apparently nothing they could do as their terms and conditions cover them for any subscription errors - something they repeatedly copied and pasted into our email correspondence. They also refused to provide further contact details so I could speak with someone on the phone. Extremely disappointing especially in the current climate with so many people unemployed and struggling financially. No compassion at all. The actual app I hardly used as when I first tried it, it involved all of this equipment that I didn’t have at home (boxing bag for instance), even though it’s meant to be a home workout app..Version: 1.8.1

Great content, but A LOT of work to be done on user experienceI absolutely love the content that’s on the Centr app - the workouts, the programs, the recipes, the meditations. I’ve definitely gained great value from the workouts and recipes. However, there is A LOT of work to be done to improve the user experience in the app. I have a running note of all of the things I feel this app needs to make it “keep worthy” for the long run and I won’t share them all here, but TLDR I think it would do Centr a huge benefit to run some focus groups and user testing of which I would be more than happy to be part of. I’m also curious as to how often the app is updated - and I’m not talking about the content because I did notice some new content got added recently. I’m talking about updating the basic functionalities of the app. Most recently, the workouts that I’ve completed in the Centr Power: Beginner program have not been marking themselves as completed and I’ve also lost the ability to manually mark them as complete on the weekly program pages. I did end up subscribing to a year of Centr because that’s how much I really love the content, but it’s basic things like what I described above that cause me to NOT recommend this app to others. PLEASE take the time to improve the app so that is consumers can continue to benefit from it and improve our overall wellness and our lives..Version: 4.12.0

All sounds great but there are better appsThis app sounds great and is well marketed. I signed up for the free trial and found it useful at first so decided to continue to the annual subscription. Unfortunately after using the app for a bit longer there were a few things that really got on my nerves: 1. The shopping list only works when you are online. When in the supermarket I don’t get signal on my phone so I lose my whole shopping list. Very annoying 2. The workouts only work when online. Similar issue to the above. Other apps like Nike Training allows you to download workouts so it doesn’t cut off half way through 3. No meal prep functionality. The meal plan and instructions do not take in to account meal prep for future leftover meals 4. No running. I like to schedule running in my weeks at least once or twice. Centr does not take this in to account Due to the above reasons I have decided to use Nike Training app (which is free) and MealPrepPro app instead of Centr. I asked for a refund and they refused even though I only had access for 2 months so beware. My advice would be to sign up and pay monthly at first before committing or just use the other apps I mentioned above!.Version: 1.6.2
