Snowflake Weather for Negative User Reviews

Nice, but a bit pricey! It’s a nice app so far. I like the ability to pick the weather source. Lots of information. The UI could use a bit of tweaking in terms of separating out the sections visually. There’s almost too much info to look at a glance and know what’s going on. Pricing-wise, it’s a little steep. You have lots of competition in this segment and there are nicer and more full featured apps that are free plus a similar subscription. And I’ll admit I looked at this quickly and did not notice the small print. The fact that both amounts are the same also led me to think there was only 1 cost. I’m fine with not getting the radar, but you don’t mention that most of the customizations are not available without the subscription. So... now I’m mad at myself for not paying attention and that’s all I think about when I run this app, which means I’ll probably delete it..Version: 1.0

Pay upThis app may have a number of styles of map and data information, but you have to pay ten times the purchase price to see any of it. The $4.99 that is a usual price, or more, for any other weather app only has two basic screens, however nicely displayed..Version: 1.0

No Weather AlertsPurchased this app and discovered there is no Weather Alert feature. I assumed (wrongly) this would be a standard feature like every other weather app. Apparently, this will be included in a future update. It’s great that you get all this information displayed beautifully but, for me, the app is at present not fit for purpose because it lacks Weather Alert functionality. Caveat emptor!.Version: 1.0

Much Better. But Apple Watch doesn’t work properly.Apple Watch complications and forecast broken. H/L #s incorrect. Example is H:140 L 37. Also still no way to access locations from main page. Radar in Apple Watch and alerts still missing..Version: 1.1

Disappointing AppBought this on release. Complications haven’t really worked from day 1. Have tried troubleshooting with developer but they aren’t returning messages. Performance of the phone and watch Apps is sloppy, even on the most recent hardware. Would have been great if this worked well, but it doesn’t. My advice: do not buy / pay the $$ for the subscription..Version: 1.11

Can’t Recommend this AppOne of the reviewers called the initial $4.99 charge, and the additional $4.99 annual charge as a “money grab” this is a fair comment, but I also understand the developers need to pay their weather data providers. However, this isn’t the only issue with this app -there are other perhaps more serious flaws. For example, there is no city search capability. The weather data displayed is for a specific GPS location, and only changes when you change your location. This app doesn’t allow you to query weather, in a different city, if you are planning a trip and want to know about inclement weather conditions, and it doesn’t provide Weather Warning information like the NOAA App does. While the app does provide information like dew point, barometric pressure, lunar phases, wind speed, UV index, humidity this information is again specific to your current GPS location. Other weather apps, The Weather Channel and NOAA to name two, include most of this information with their free of charge basic service, including current radar images, and city search capability. All of the GPS specific weather information provided, by this app, is interesting data, but is it worth $4.99 -in my opinion no..Version: 1.0

Don’t waste your $8So sad that pocketweather closed early this year so have been on the lookout for a replacement. This is NOT it. You’ve been warned. You have to go premium subscription to get radar & can only view one city at a time. Sticking with the free BOM app until someone comes up with a new pocketweather..Version: 1.11

Not good.Information regarding sunset and moon set is cut off. Confusing interface. Worst part is the current temperature does not update to the watch. Who needs a weather app with the wrong temperature? Kind of defeats the entire purpose! Especially when you have to subscribe to get the wrong information on your wrist. Apple will not grant me a refund on this smoldering piece of cow excrement of an app for some reason, so I guess I’m stuck with it. Ten dollars down the crapper..Version: 1.0

OutdatedIt's now over a year since an update. Missing many features that are now standard in iOS 16. I'm going to have to cancel and if the dev decides to update the app regularly then I'll consider subscribing again..Version: 1.40

Please update your default iconFor such a detailed weather app why is the default icon such a pixelated mess? I’ve been a fan of iStat menus weather for years and was happy to pay for the same functionality on my iPhone... but it’s almost as if the icon was an afterthought. What gives?.Version: 1.30

It’s 2020, bring it harderA PAID weather app in 2020 has to be phenomenally great. We have had weather apps for 10 years now.... Do use the app space better, 1 pixel icons are junk. You have my money, be better than Carrot, dark sky and iOS.Version: 1.11

Premium PriceRead some reviews and thought I am happy to drop money on this only to find a subscription service within to access what I would call standard features - radar images etc. Pretty and comprehensive but available elsewhere without the drip feed to keep it alive....Version: 1.0

Problems with Environment Canada SourceOverall a good app with a wide variety of data. However there are 2 issues with the Environment Canada source : 1) Later in the day the forecast shows as "?" 2) the hourly forecast data is from the Weather Company source..Version: 1.11

Why did I buy this?I just paid $4.99 for this, and unless I shell out additional money immediately, the app is very limited in functionality/ customization (I.e. no weather maps, limited layout adjustments allowed). For the upfront $4.99, the user should get access to the plus service for a period of time (e.g. first year, couple of months). This isn’t right and I already regret my purchase. Layout is a mix between Carrot Wx and Forecast Bar. It has potential, but it also has room for improvement. Example: Switching locations unfortunately requires going to the Settings tab. I think day breaks on the meteograph would improve the user interface (like Carrot Wx)..Version: 1.0

Not badIt’s nice to have some other decent alternatives to carrot weather since pocket weather died. It has a solid selection of providers once you pay the subscription, which does not offer a trial. I feel like the UI though is still a work in progress. The weather icons throughout the views are too small to see any real detail. Detail is usually what bjango are all about. I can’t quite put my finger on what but something about the look ahead doesn’t look good. It might be that it simply looks too much like a standard table view with a simple customcell thrown in, while the rest of the app has no part that looks like a default UI control. In all, looking forward to seeing how this app evolves with the great designers as bjango.Version: 1.0

Great idea but...Apple watch doest work with new version Apple watch is terrible when you push update?.Version: 1.1

OverpricedThe base app without the IAP does so little it should be a free app. There should be at least the basic radar screen included in the base app. This is really a $5/year app for it to be even a little useful..Version: 1.0

DisappointingThe basic app is constrained by data limitations, so to really enjoy it you’ll probably need to subscribe. What is there is fine and it has some nice touches. But I find the display of information disappointingly textual. Compared to other weather apps it all looks rather uninspired, which I hadn’t expected from Bjango..Version: 1.0

Beware of different versions! The rain, snow radars etc is only available via subscription on the plus version (which is noted in the fine print on the pic) but shown as a part of the offering on the regular version. These kind of games leave me feeling tricked. With this version you get a reinterpretation of the BOM site if you’re in Australia for your $1.49. Poorly played played Bjango :(.Version: 1.30

Snowflake DeleletedPaid for the app and paid for the one year subscription and sadly have now deleted the app. Expected better. WillyWeather is far superior and only paid to remove the ads..Version: 1.11

Very detailed weather app with one problemIf you look at some of the reviews there are complaints about paying twice. I agree with this. The initial 4.99 payment should include the first year of service(s) after which you pay the additional 4.99 for maps, etc. I feel this was kind of a money grab. The developer has you pay 4.99 to get the app and then you need to pay an additional 4.99 for other options. Getting the app itself should be free and then 4.99 for optional benefits. 3/5 stars for now since it’s such a robust weather app. Would give it 5/5 if the initial 4.99 payment included the first year of all services..Version: 1.0

Spinning wheelWonderful app, very detailed information, but lately there is only a spinning wheel and blank screen, and the widget doesn't work either.Version: 1.40

Expected betterUpdate: This is obviously a dead abandoned app. N o substantial updates for a year - when it was released. Shame on Bjango. Don’t waste your time here. Go get Windy or Carrot Weather instead. Windy free beats the paid version of this hands down. Feeling buyer’s remorse with this app purchase. Bought the app based on my previous good experiences with Bjango products. While it delivers the basic weather info well, I don’t like the radar button being front and centre when it’s only purpose is to remind you are not a ‘Plus’ subscriber. Better it is hidden than act as a way to annoy and beg for the subscription. I love Bjango’s iStat Menus and it’s great weather info delivery but I don’t love this app. My old (free) iOS weather app provides BOM radar and other maps but with this app I have to pay $8+$6=$14 upfront for the same info and then $6 per year ongoing. Better value elsewhere..Version: 1.11

Not happy.$5 for a weather app and they make you pay more to get the weather maps. Really? A classic example of why we need a 15 min time limit to remove apps and be refunded. Uninstalled..Version: 1.0

Save your money$4.99 only gets you a basic looking weather of one location. If you want all the fancy looking maps and features then you have to pay recurring. This is really disappointing as I cannot even swipe across multiple locations like Apple’s weather app, I have to go in settings to switch location. I’m a user of iStatMenu and was really happy to see this from their creator but got disappointed in the app. $4.99 lost..Version: 1.0

No Weather Map IncludedWell this app has very detailed information about the current weather, and does allow you to change the location, it does not include a display of radar. In order to see that you must pay an extra fee. Many other weather apps include radar at no cost, including those apps like weather underground that are a free download..Version: 1.40

Background Refresh NeededI want to like this app — and do except for one failing that I think the developers ought to be able to fix. Unlike other apps like Accuweather, I can’t get Snowflake to update on my watch without touching it. I can’t just glance and trust I’m seeing the latest. So I checked the iPhone settings to see if I had Background App Refresh switched on and discovered there’s no setting to do so. Apparently Snowflake can’t update in the background, so naturally the watch display won’t likely be accurate. Fix this — plus add Notifications — and you’ll get 5 stars. I like the rest. Graphics are great on the watch and phone. The annual subscription doesn’t bother me. The Weather Channel is almost $10. All in all good start, but there’s a few critical improvements needed..Version: 1.0

Pretty good phone app but the watch complication needs workThe phone app is attractive and provides pretty good functionality. Unfortunately it’s let down by a substandard watch complication. I left the app about a year ago for Carrot Weather because the Snowflake complication was regularly out of date or showed no data. Now there’s a new release that claims to make the complication better, but it still shows no data regularly so I won’t be sticking with it.Version: 1.40

Just bought it and it’s nice but...I like Bjango used iStat so when they released a weather app that they said respected my privacy I paid the $6.99(Canada) for it no problem. Then I see they’re offering a subscription. The price i a few cent less a year than the app. So that isn’t horrible at all and I’d consider paying for it. However they should offer at least two weeks if not a month of Snowflake Plus for free so people can see if it’s actually worth it. I can say 100% without a free trial to actually see what you get in app they won’t be getting a sub out of me. Update it with an initial free trial and if it’s worth it, I’ll definitely sub. Simple as that. Overall though the information and layout is spot on and easy understand and comprehend. Thanks for that at least Bjango.Version: 1.0

Better and free apps out thereI got suckered into buying this for $5.00 when I read a glowing review on a website about it. The hourly chart looked incredible and it seemed promising. I then found that I would have to pony up an extra $1 each month just to have weather map functionality. And to top it all off, the hourly chart isn’t nearly as good, informative, or detailed as wunderground’s (it’s a free app). Stay away from this overpriced rip off. It’s not a bad app but you can get better for free..Version: 1.0

Lack of updates for a promising app.Unfortunately with the latest update being 7 months ago, it’s hard to recommend this app anymore. It started with such promise but now appears to just have been cast aside..Version: 1.11

Costs twiceCharging an additional subscription/annual fee for weather maps and radar after paying $4.99 for the app is abusive and basically unconscionable. Had I realized there was additional charges to make that usable when it’s free or included just about everywhere else, I never would have purchased the app. It feels like a ripoff..Version: 1.0

Stupid to buy this from a reviewI don't know why I purchased this. I have six weather apps (ok, I'm a weather junkie). This is by far the worst, even if you pay for a subscription. I feel ripped off..Version: 1.0

Has potentialAs other reviewers have said, it’s a good replacement for Pocket Weather, but still lacks a few details to make it a worthy competitor to WillyWeather. I appreciate the recent addition of wind direction, but the wind speed really needs the option to be added to the main graph, rather than having to click to another screen for it..Version: 1.1

Sadly, it’s a don’t buy from meWhilst there are positives such as the simple interface and the Apple Watch complication, the negatives outweigh them for me. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that, having already paid $7.99 for the app, I was required to pay a further $0.99 per month to access rain radar (a standard inclusion in many other weather apps). Another negative is the lack of weather earnings which again, is included in many other lower priced apps. Overall I'm regretting having purchased the app and I can't recommend it..Version: 1.0

Lot of effort and care went into app design, but not (as) usual way without a subscription. The program looks great and the amount of details in the settings show how much effort went into creating this app. However, it failed in the basic area of usability (without a subscription). It is advertised as having 4 sources .. but the description didn’t state that only 1 is “usable”. Whenever I try to choose a source (other than automatic) I am only given the option to subscribe (first). I understand the need of a subscription for the maps and data requests, but to be locked into an automatic choice when I want to choose a meteorological service for “basic service” is not working as advertised. Still, the program looks very well put together and comprehensive. However it fails to give me weather from the source that I needed (without a subscription) and is therefore not unusable for me..Version: 1.30

Ripoff AlertDo not bother to even download the “free” version, both the free version and subscription are cumbersome to use mostly due the unwieldy way of searching for and switching between cities. Only recognizes cities, no airport codes or identification. Customer service has been non-existent. They don’t even have an email address for support. This could be a good product with a few major changes but apparently the developers aren’t interested. This is one of those apps where one has the feeling that any positive review is written by the developers..Version: 1.11

Good start, but needs more work to become best in classAs others have said, I got this after listening to Rene Ritchie on Macbreak Weekly. My go to weather app is Dark Sky, and I was curious if Snowflake approaches the capabilities of Dark Sky. I found good things in Snowflake, but the one place it needs more work is with looking at daily forecasts. I am an active retiree, and like to see daily forecast presented visually to plan my outdoor activities. Dark Sky provides a visual indicator of temperature ranges that allows for a very quick comparison from day to day. This would be a much desired feature in Snowflake. I am a premium subscriber and look forward to improvements..Version: 1.0

Good start, with bugsAs others have mentioned, there is no real-time updating for the Apple Watch. One of the bullet points for the premium service is background data for the watch, but if you have to open the app then the refresh is not working. Checking the settings in the app always indicate the Watch is “Not Connected” until you actively open the app on the watch. I don’t see how this escaped UAT, especially when it is called out as a headline feature of the app..Version: 1.0

Current location failureAlong with being too expensive and missing features, current location epic fails. Says I’m somewhere called Oak Cliffs Place, a location not even in my state. Their support staff don’t even understand the issue or why it’s a problem. Sheesh..Version: 1.0

Interface is far too busy & clutteredAs someone who has purchased hundreds of apps and subscribed to well over a hundred, I’m not one to complain of prices. However, the UI is far too busy & cluttered. I appreciate clean, elegant, & modern design. This app is pretty much the antithesis of the aforementioned qualities. I use and highly recommend Carrot and Hello Weather..Version: 1.0

Decent new releaseSome recommendations: It would be good to have the radar auto play rather than needing to constantly press the play button when first opening the radar or when zooming in or out. When zooming it keeps pushing the radar. It would be amazing to have tides included in the app. A description of the different providers and the data sources would be amazing. Where is the data coming from and what standard is it. What models are used. When you open a particular day including today on the home screen and it takes you to the single day view it would be good to have the maximum and minimum temperatures for that day listed with the chance of rain, uv index and daylight. Also when opening the single day view for today it should show the current temperature in the same spot. The graph is great but having the number below would allow for just a quick check. All this applies to the single day view..Version: 1.1

I only care about Widget. As a widget buyer I expected more of this app. Firstly the name of location/city has not shown on the widget. Secondly the font size of widget is very small I wish it was selectable like the app itself and the same request for weather icons as well. Thirdly please add AQI. To be honest it is a beautiful and useful widget but will be completed with fixes above. I don’t subscribe it yet and don’t know those widget opinions are cool or not. Edit: OK, I bought one year subscription and OMG. I’ve paid 5 more bucks to see the name of location on my widget?!!! This is not really fare, is it? And one year?! I though it could be forever! This is not really fare, is it? Just release a new update for selectable font and icon size of widget. Another problem I noticed was about seeing Error on widget when there is no connection after awhile. You should add auto-update whenever connected to the internet on Widget. And never forget AQI on widget. Bug finder: AccuWeather doesn’t work at all. Try to switch “current location” between sources and you will see there is nothing change for..Version: 1.1

I wish I could have a refundThis app is very disappointing from accuracy of forecast to needing to pay a subscription for more features. There are free sources that are better..Version: 1.20

In NO way a pocket weather replacementNo cumulative rainfall. No radar without subscribing. Don’t pay.Version: 1.0

Crashes on startup maybe every 5th timeMostly fine, works well, seems to have a different source for weather data than Apple’s weather app. accurate enough for my needs. my problem is that about every fourth or fifth launch/relaunch, the app will lock up for ~45 seconds or so and then drop me back at the springboard like nothing happened. if i launch it again, it opens quickly and correctly. been like this for a LONG time..Version: 1.40

Please PLEASE fix the watch app. With the demise of Pocket Weather thank goodness there is a decent weather app that uses Australian data (BOM). The iPhone & iPad apps are great (if a bit busy compared to other Apps) the Watch app though 😭…it would be great, if it was reliable. The complications update intermittently and the App crashes +60% of the time. When it does open it takes 30 seconds or more to display current data. This happens on S2, S3 & S4 watches. Please, address these issues, this App has everything an Australian user could want if not for these reliability issues. Thanks..Version: 1.11

Canada wind gustWe live in an isolated area of extreme cold temperature. I do not see any wind and wind gust anywhere in the app. I do see feels like but would like to see the wind gusts as it affects ourdoor travel. Thanks.Version: 1.1

Slow updates for a subscriptionWas looking for an app to leverage the home screen widgets and with data from BOM, Bjango makes great stuff but really disappointed with still no support for iOS 14 widgets. Updates are very slow, despite asking for both an upfront and a subscription.....Version: 1.20

Not bad, not greatPROS: Good layout of information. Different weather sources. Lots of information. CONS: No weather alerts. No way to edit lots of cities. Clumsy implementation to view weather in different cities (have to go into settings>location and then change from there. Make it accessible from main page please..Version: 1.0

Apple Watch app useless and brokenThere’s a 1 in 6 chance that you’ll get any information when you open the watch app, and even then it takes forever to update. Most times it just says “Loading” for 30 seconds before timing out and crashing out. And forget about the complication ever updating. No updates for four months either, seems like they’ve given up on this app. Shame really, the phone app is pretty good..Version: 1.11

Need 2 thingsNeed swipe from left to right to change locations The second things is an option to show daily snow fall forecast in cm.Version: 1.11

Lots of data, but no snowfall amounts?I realize this isn’t a big deal everywhere, but it really is here in the northeast. As far as I can see, there is no indication anywhere of expected snowfall amounts. There also doesn’t appear to be integration with National Weather Service alerts. In 2 days we’re expecting 8 inches of snow. Nothing in Snowflake warns me about that incoming storm. “Rain mixed with snow” is it’s report for that day. I found out about the storm from AccuWeather, which shows snowfall probabilities across the range of likely amounts and provides the NWS alerts. In places where “a dusting to an inch” can become 12”-16” of snow because of a last minute change of storm track 24 hours out, this is really important data. I might use this app a lot in the summer, but not at all in the winter..Version: 1.40

Bad ChoiceApple Watch sync is busted , and paid 2wice for app 1. For purchase and got dinged again for a yearly subscription which I should have gotten anyway seeing as I paid for the app not once but 2wice for this much money , you should have way more features and customization..Version: 1.0

What???I can’t believe the reviews here. I’m suss on them. It doesn’t even seem finished! Can’t believe I spent $7.99 on this. I feel cheated and wish there was a refund button. There’s a lot of talk about them saying they will improve the app over time... yeah, it needs it. Seriously shocked they’re charging $7.99 for this as is. Make it free until you finish it. And don’t ask what could be improved. We all know how good Pocket weather was. Look to that..Version: 1.0

Widgets broken iOS 16I’ve been running the beta all summer and widgets are broken. However, I waited until the iOS 16 release to give this a poor rating. The fact that it’s been broken since the beta dropped in June and there is no day one patch in September to fix it is ridiculous. Is this developer still alive? 9 months between updates doesn’t cut it in 2022..Version: 1.40

No better thanThis app is not worth the cost. It does nothing that free apps don’t do just as well. The free Weather Channel app powered by Watson and the Yahoo weather app are identical in most ways and easier to City search and add. My recommendation is it would be better as a free app then allow upgrades for the extras you offer. The extras are not all that good to be frank. Radar etc offer better functions..Version: 1.0

Radar doesn’t work on older IOS versionsI paid extra for the radar etc. unfortunately it doesn’t work on my iPhone 6. Latest IOS can’t be used on iPhone 6. It works on my wife’s iPhone 7 with latest IOS..Version: 1.1

Meh!!I will probably not subscribe again, despite the fact that it is not expensive. The app looks nice, and the charts are pretty. Problem is: everything is extremely difficult to read: better explanations on the charts would help. Each time I use this app I have no better idea what the weather is going to do..Version: 1.40

You make great apps BUT!Seems like all your applications in the end become dead projects, which is sad to see the only one that continue living is istat. Sadly I have to switch back to CARROT Weather due to lack of development on this one. I tried hard to love it I just can’t..Version: 1.40

Lots of detail but extra cost to view radar2!When you pay $8 for a weather app you expect to be able to use the radar without having to pay and additional $1/month. I was hoping that this app would be able to replace the now defunct Pocket Weather AU... but unfortunately I will have to keep looking ..Version: 1.0

No Updates for Over a Year!I’m a subscriber and have used this app since it’s initial release. The weather app market is very saturated. I used this weather app because I liked the simplicity of it, how I could keep my locations, etc. Anyway, this app is falling behind with no widgets, no updates, etc. I cannot recommend it anymore because it appears that the developer has stopped supporting it. MANY other options out there that are IOS 16 friendly and allow for widgets, etc. Come on man! Update the darn app..Version: 1.40

It’s good but…Just paid $6.99 for the app (in Canada) and ponied up for the subscription. The app itself is good with lots of information. However, it would be nice to have an easier way to choose between saved cities on the iPhone and watch. Maybe a swipe left or right on the main page? And please work on the icons for the watch. They look a little cartoonish and not really representative of the actual weather. Otherwise, it’s a nice change from the “other big name” in weather..Version: 1.0

Plus featureThe app, $4.99 is fine. But if you want radar, it’s $0.99 per month. Other weather apps include radar, at no cost for it or the app as a whole. So, given that I have weather apps that have the same info AND radar, ill stick with them. Disappointed I’m out $4.99 of though..Version: 1.0
