✓ Does not connectI really wanted this to work. I updated my shield as the app recommended and tried to pair. Nothing. I tried connecting to the IP address. Nothing. Save yourself the trouble. ✓ Horrible unintuitive interface.This app needs a serious redesign to actually behave like any of the other remotes that have a standardized lsyout. Controlling where you are in a movie file is neither simple nor intuitive. Big Hint, Ddveloper: a simple slider that you can touch or drag/slide to position yourself in a movie file or stream goes a very long way. ✓ Doesn’t connect to ShieldIn order to connect I need to manually type in the IP address whenever I pull up the app. I thought it was just because my phone was connected to WiFi and the shield was a direct Ethernet connection, but even after switching the shield to the same WiFi as my phone it still requires me to type in the shields IP address into my phone. An IP address is pretty cumbersome to remember and type in anytime you want to use the remote. To be clear it doesn’t even remember the IP address after closing the app. I literally have to type in my Shields IP address each time I want to use the app. App has a couple other smaller issues too: The “mouse click” automatically opens what you click on. Sometimes I’d just like to select something and there’s no option to do that unless you use the buttons. The mouse doesn’t scroll on the home screen to anything beyond the first screen. A double finger slide should allow you to scroll around the page..Version: 1.0

✓ Fantastic, when it worksIt would be perfect if it actually connected more than 50% of the time. Much like the Shield unit itself (see Nvidia Shield’s recent loss of access to much of Steam), this app continues to let me down. Also, the touch pad is extremely difficult to use with precision, and the sensitivity of it can’t be changed. Oh, and the those 5-star reviews that are suspiciously featured so highly on the app main page are either delusional or outright lies. When the remote app loses connection, it CANNOT be fixed by simply downloading updates (because they don’t exist) or rebooting the app. Only rebooting the actual Shield unit works and this usually entails a hard reboot (pulling the power cable). First and last Nvidia product I’ll ever own..Version: 2.1.2

✓ App Needs WorkThe D pad would be nice if it wasn’t so massive. It doesn’t matter which interface you select, they all have this weird lag/latency thing happening where they work smoothly for a few seconds, then drop out for a half second. It’s usable (barely) but not usable in a way where I would use it with any regularity. No, it’s not my setup. I have a very high quality network setup and a very good phone so basically what I’m saying is, if I’m having a problem with this app, your average customer is definitely having this same problem or worse. I’m growing to really become frustrated with NVIDIA in general. It’s just one thing after another in my experience. I realize that my other problems I’ve recently had don’t relate to this app, but it does suggest to me that there is a larger problem with the company as a whole if (as a customer) I keep having bad experiences with them over and over again. God help you if you ever have to call their customer support. I was baffled by how rude the agent was and pro tip: if you ever order anything from NVIDIA, just be aware that the cancellation form does nothing. NVIDIA will ignore it and instead process and RMA so you’re forced to pay the shipping both ways, thereby making it highly unlikely you’ll actually return what you ordered. If something can’t be returned, to me, the cancellation form shouldn’t exist. I filled it out twice and spoke to someone, it was a useless endeavour. Professionally, I find this intentionally hands-off and unavailable to customers approach to be disgusting. The reason I include that in this review is because as a customer, being aware of these types of things that customers are experiencing matters to me. Plus, I’m not being unreasonable or overstating the point either, it is exactly my experience. I run a business myself and so I’m cautious about writing bad reviews unless they’re warranted. So far, in my opinion based on my experience (while I like the NVIDIA shield itself and some of their hardware) NVIDIA as a company (and I’m talking about management decisions which relates to people and policies) I’m likely to avoid at all costs. See NVIDIA? When you burn people and ignore them, they tell as many people as they can. Like I said on Twitter, I feel like the shipping and fees should have been waived or promised to be reimbursed because of my ignored forms I promptly filled out and the infuriating customer service experience on the phone. As much as I wanted to return your product... you won, the loss didn’t make sense for me so you won. You didn’t lose the sale but you got the word out by doing it. For the last few months (I believe ever since the most recent update), every time I open the app, it says “connection lost.” Then I either have to do one of two things: 1) I can minimize the app, wait two seconds, then re-open it (and it magically reconnects just fine), OR 2) I have to click “got it,” then click my computer’s IP at the top (which is still there from before), and then click “Remote” to get back in. Either way, something extremely annoying & irritating is happening ever since the last update. It should be staying connected just like it used to. ✓ Great app BEFORE the updateI loved this app! I really did. That is until the last update. You can uninstall and reinstall, it will work. Lock your phone and then it never connects again. ✓ Please fix this appThis used to be an excellent app! After a recent update it has really gone downhill (as can be seen by recent reviews). - Ability to start directly in the remote has been lost. You are always greeted with shortcuts to apps first (this might be preferred by some, but there should an option for where you start) - MOST IMPORTANT: Connection issues. If you lock your phone with the app open or return to the home screen and then back to the app, you receive a connection lost message. To recover you must either return to your list of shield devices and connect again or return to the homescreen again and switch back to the app, where 90% of the time it will recover and reconnect. This is frustrating and unnecessary. It causes a long time delay in scenarios where quick volume or playback (pause/play) changes need to be made, etc.. I used to consider this app 4-5 stars. It now gets 2 and that's pushing it..Version: 2.1.2

✓ Great when it connectsThis is so much better than the Minix I bought with my Shield, when it actually connects. Bums me out so bad when I have to reach for the old one nightly. Also add volume! Edit: it rarely connects now. Don’t even know why I open it to try. Such a bummer. Edit: wife’s and my app completely stopped working today. Bummer cuz toddler stole other remotes..Version: 2.0.2
