Keto Diet App - Carb Tracker for Negative User Reviews

No free optionEven though it’s listed as free with premium subscription can’t even access the app without paying yearly or monthly. Shady and deceptive tactics. Do not download.Version: 1.9.1

Barcode scan doesn’t workBarcode scan doesn’t work.Version: 2.58.7

WALK AWAYDon’t waste your time and money on this. Its says its free, wastes your time answering useless questions and wont let you even enter the app without paying them first! I normally don't write reviews, but this got my blood boiling so bad that I figured I would let everyone know how bad this is..Version: 2.103

Very US bias - and confusingThe app explains Keto principles clearly, and the insights are useful and quite motivating. I like the way of logging food BUT it’s all very US biased, and I cannot find many of the foods available in France (where I live). I’d love to be able to add my own foods and keep them for future reference. Most barcodes aren’t recognised either. I do find the red, amber and green very confusing! It told me to avoid tomatoes… then I get an Insights article saying how good they are. Turns out that if you enter a small portion it’s rated ‘great on keto’ and if you enter a large portion it’s ‘avoid on keto’ … when actually the best advice is the amber label ‘eat moderately’… then I’d be sure to monitor my portion size. A food is either red, amber or green… most odd to change that with portion size. I am still following the diet after a month. But I am really not enjoying it. I find the range of foods restrictive and there are such limited options for any kind of home cooked recipes. I’ll stick with it for another month and see what results I get. Nothing to write home about so far!.Version: 2.58.5

Don't get this appIt is a waste of money and I set it up for my dad and it wouldn't let me only play a week and made me pay 30$ for a month and it tells you nothing on what to do and when you ask for help they do not help at all, this app is a scam, they give you recipes that are like master chef recipes.Version: 2.96

There’s no free versionI downloaded this app so to see what it’s like and how it works, perhaps with a view to upgrade if it’s good. When you first get the app, you are required to set up an account and answer a lot of questions about your lifestyle. After all the time taken to do this, you’d expect to then be able to use the app (or at least have a look around it), but no. You are then taken to a screen to choose which paid package you want and there is no free option. You cannot close this screen or navigate back. So unless you pay, the app is useless. Additionally, given that I don’t want the app, I’d like to close my account and have my data deleted. But I couldn’t get past this paid package selection screen to navigate to any options or settings screen to do this. If you want the paid app, maybe it’s good. But if not, they have your details and you’re stuck. Based on this design fault alone, I’d now be reluctant to try the paid version..Version: 2.56.1

Can’t see anything until payingAfter going through all the steps to set up my profile which included providing personal details about health conditions etc, you hit a paywall of a $110 yearly subscription. There’s no free trial to test it out or even the ability to explore the app as the subscription screen doesn’t have a close button. It’s pretty disappointing as you should be able to see what you'll be paying for. If you thought you had a good product, you wouldn’t have an issue offering a free trial..Version: 2.65

DisappointedWas charged over $100 for this app that I thought was a free trial. The scanning doesn’t work on a lot of products in NZ. Am not using it and sent an email after the purchase as didn’t realise the cost and never heard anything back..Version: 2.56.6

Not free??Says free app yet it’s not. Couldn’t even see what it’s about or it’s content as you get paywalled. Disappointing!.Version: 2.39

This app is not good and not worth your moneyI can only believe that the positive comments are from people totally new to keto who don’t know there are better apps with better functionality and easier to use. Beware of generally positive feedback with no substance. Many of these reviews are generically the same. I’ve been on and off keto for years and I like to use an app at first when I am being very careful to count calories and carbs. This one looked good and maybe more user friendly than my fitness pal or others but it’s not. In all honestly this app is a scam. There is no free trial. You have to sign up for a month or year so you say I might as well sign up for the year, it’s a better deal. Wrong. Like others have said, you have to enter so much yourself, it’s not user friendly in my opinion, you can’t see your trends well, and the recipes are complicated but also can be found for free or in one good keto book. I believe developers should be paid for their work and not everything can be free like we all want. But for what they are charging here you get nothing of value. This should be a fully fleshed out app with easy to enter or scan foods. It’s not. Do your research, find the right app, or just log your stats in a diary because this app is totally useless to me. I’d rather delete it and move on than be frustrated and try to use it more. Congrats you got my money, but I hope this dissuades at least a few people from wasting their money and time..Version: 2.58.5

Seems of shadyWhy is this app listed a as free? First you answer a bunch of questions intertwined with motivational slides just to add some hype. Then you come to a scree that only has payment plans. I want to see some examples of what I get with this app. I’d like to see a sample grocery list just to see how easy and how much I’d be expecting to spend per week/month. I want to see a sample of activities they recommend, because I have a severely injured back and I have mobility issues. Basically, I’d like to see if this app is worthwhile for me to subscribe to. I’ve read the other reviews on here saying almost exactly what I’ve written, and I don’t care if a month is the minimum time I can subscribe for…no, no, NO! I want to see if this app is worth it before I spend a single dime on it! It’s pretty shady that you don’t let people take a peek before making us pay. Just google keto for cheap/free and you’ll get the EXACT same thing as I’m sure this app has. I just thought it would be easier to track on my phone, but hey…the notebook app on my phone is free..Version: 2.97

Carb Manager is free and offers moreI find it frustrating to add meals/food ahead of time. For me, it helps plan the meals for the future. That way, I already know what food to prepare/ defrost. I can see if I need to add more fats or if I can afford a salad with dressing. This app, though I am paying for it, doesn’t let me add my exercise or my keto reading. No section for notes. Have to admit, I love Carb Managers confetti when my husband stays within his macros. Im paying... I want confetti!! Carb Manager also has quick entry if I don’t want to add an entire recipe... just the macros. I use Keto Diet App bc I already paid for my subscription. I honestly like Carb Manager better but seeing as NEITHER apps lets you add a second person (cuz duh... we are eating the SAME food, why not let me track both of our macros bc lets face it, often times one person does most of that work. I hope to see some improvements coming up or I’m going to have to cancel. Seriously, I expect more for having to pay..Version: 2.17

Not goodThe biggest problem is the recipe are for multiple servings but the nutritional factors is for one serving and they don’t say how much one serving is. Very poor design Also im not sure where the 1000’s of recipes are you would be hard pressed to find 100.Version: 2.95

Have to payDon’t waste your time downloading and setting up if you are looking for a free version. You must pay before you even see your set up results. Only option is expensive 1 month or a cheap 1 year subscription. Thumbs down!.Version: 2.39

Not free.Classic go through all the steps and ask for a payment at the end..Version: 2.68

Not wise ketoThis app hardly allows any carbs before it tells you that you have had too much! Staying under 50g is good but this is silly starvation..Version: 2.56.8

Delete my details now!!This app makes you sign up which takes ages and then you have to PAY to even view the app. You get a pop up as soon as you open it that you can’t x out of. That means you can’t even view the app to delete all your info? That has put me right off. I’m not paying a cent and I’m about to put in a complaint with Apple about this company holding my information without my consent. I’m still within my right to delete/cancel as I downloaded it 3 minutes ago yet I cannot remove my details unless I pay? Deleting the app from my phone won’t remove my account/info. Unethical, let’s see what Apple thinks..Version: 2.86.1

Not freeThis product description is misleading.Version: 2.102

Not as advertisedDownloaded what I thought was the free base app, only for it to demand payment. This should be signalled before downloading as it is not correctly advertised..Version: 2.56.8

Does nothing apart from harvesting your data before you subscribe? It makes you answer questions at start. After harvesting all that data it does not show you anything but a paid subscription screen. I feel scammed. The developer just posted what seems to be their standard response. The response seems as insincere as the app itself. As other reviewers have already pointed out, after harvesting your data the app doesn't show you any "generated plan" - the only thing you can do at that point is pay or uninstall. I don't have anything against paying for useful tools but the app shows you nothing that would allow you to decide if there is any substance to their claims. It is like you just waste time downloading it and taking part in a unpaid survey, after which you are given the opportunity to pay for who knows what..Version: 2.41.4

DisappointingToo expensive I had to join for a year and I am so disappointed. Carb manager much better.Version: 2.81

Don’t unless you want to waste hoursNot UK friendly at all. Nothing I scan on this app is recognised. I need something easy, this is painful. So I have to spend hours typing in the values of all the foods. When you do find a generic food the nutritional info is vastly incorrect across all the nutritional values. It doesn’t update all the macros, it just seems totally inaccurate. I spent the last couple of days actually not eating enough and being really hungry because it told me I’d hit my limits- I’ve later realised it’s because its wrong. I have stupidly just wasted £38 on this. Bitterly disappointed. Please refund me. UK people, just buy the book ‘Keto Kitchen by Monya Kilian Palmer - it will provide all you need..Version: 2.68

Not very keto smartThis app is ok for the most part but the food list is terrible. Some of the most basic foods aren’t there. Also, you would think you could log keto friendly options like Caesar salad without crouton or a bun less burger, but you can’t. You have to lit all the ingredients. I have switched to a smarter app..Version: 2.89

Not a free app at all! It’s free to download but as soon as your profile is finished it ask you to pay monthly or yearly and you can’t use it otherwise. Free to download IS NOT FREE! Duh. Thanks for the lost of my time..Version: 2.39

Allow users to exploreI had the app for 5 minutes. Entered all my personal information and then a screen appears for subscription. Would be awesome if I could see what I was signing up for. Wont be purchasing. #dissapointed.Version: 2.43

Not free and in app purchase does not require password or thumbprintIs misleading as not free. The in app purchase goes as soon as you hit continue you don’t get to authorise it or enter card details meaning it’s incredibly easy to accidentally purchase something you’re not interested in.Version: 1.8.6

Poor personalization and customizationYou can’t find any pre added foods even basic ones! You have to search nutrient info and add it manually. Other apps have lots and lots of foods added even without premium option. I don’t recommend..Version: 2.95

Instantly Charges YouI am pretty annoyed that the description says download for free, upgrade for PRO. However you can’t start the app without subscribing, at a much higher fee than in the description. Will be deleting this app..Version: 1.8.3

KetoPurchased Keto and a few hours later I realised the app in not for me as it didn’t register item on the app correctly eg food not recognised .. I contacted Keto who in return came back to me 2 days later ( not great service) only to tell me I can not have a refund I am not happy with the purchase, you can’t trial the app with out buying - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE WASTE OF TIME DOESNT WORK Can’t even give this app a star but it won’t let me leave a review with out giving it a star lol Ok adding to this James from the Keto customer service has contacted me today 12th March 2023 I have requested a refund I will keep everyone posted with the update atm he is saying I need to contact the App Store the App Store have advised I need to speak to Keto … will update soon.Version: 2.58.7

Disappointed thus farI’ve shelled out over £60 for this app and it’s quite disappointing. A lot of the meals do not look appetising AT ALL. There are spelling and grammatical errors (as well as instructions that are not clear, e.g. mentioning “add to instant pot” without prior mention of this pot - nor what it even is!) The inability to reduce the meal ingredients quantity based on how many it serves is very frustrating. I live alone - most are “serves 3” “serves 4” No ability to change the recipe ingredients to metric. There’s no way to see my “pie chart” of macros which is difficult as this visual aspect is really helpful in other apps I’ve used. Also adding foods is clunky. I’ve constantly ended up with multiple additions of the same item without realising which then skewed my macros until I had noticed. You also can’t change the time of day for a food. It’s stuck at the time you add it. Not all of us have time to add immediately as we eat. For what I’ve spent it is not value for money and I feel frustrated and disappointed.Version: 2.65

It’s not free!!False advertising, will delete the app now.Version: 1.8.3

No free trial version availableI agree with other reviews here regarding misleading info. There is no free content. It is free to download but then you hit the paywall during set up. It looks like it’s a great app, I have heard good reviews for it. But I was really hoping for a free trial version before I pay for a subscription. I live in Australia and since starting Keto 4 years ago I have found most apps don’t have many Australian products in their database, most barcodes return no results for data. I don’t want to have to pay for a product that I have no way of knowing if it will actually be of use to me, especially when I also have to factor in the exchange rate between AUD and USD..Version: 2.37.4

Paywalled before I could look aroundI was so excited to try the app but was paywalled as soon as I got in and didn’t even have the opportunity to see what this app offers that I can’t already get from my other apps. No chance for a trial to look around and no mention before downloading it that you must pay to use. Very disappointed. Especially since it looks quite well designed..Version: 2.37.2

No free featuresAll of the poor reviews on this app are 100% accurate. There is no free features. You fill out their account setup info and it immediately asks you to subscribe and pay..Version: 2.104

Nice start, Excellent support response, doesn’t have the features I needNegative: I clicked on order for a year by mistake. I immediately reached out (within minutes) to ask for a refund and I was denied. Strike 1 Positive: every time I’ve had a question I’ve gotten a quick response. Apparently there is team support as well but I didn’t sign up for this. Positive: voice entering of ingredients - very easy Negative: too many generic ingredients. (I know this is a terrible example) I ate a king-sized Payday candy bar and I asked that it be added. I got a generic “candy bar” in response. The carb count fat and calories vary from food to food. Positive/Negative: lots of great sounding recipes but no way to sort for ingredients. No way to request to see only foods I like and can eat. Im dairy free so would like to repress recipes that contain dairy. No way to do this. Negative: no folders for created recipes. It’s easy to create recipes, I had to create lots of new foods to even add ingredients to my recipes, but then I needed to scroll through a whole list to find the recipe I wanted. Despite these downsides I decided I was going to use the app anyway. But when I couldn’t find certain foods in the database I decided I will go back to Carb Manager. This has the potential to be great but right now it doesn’t have enough of the features I need to make it worth dealing with. $50 wasted. Lesson learned..Version: 2.56.4

Its a ScamYes this stinks for being a scam. Alarm bells start ringing when you get to the payment screen after a long drawn out process of entering your data & watching what amounts to adverts. If you dont complete the payment screen or exit the App & re-open it, it will give you a ‘special offer’ of half price but with a 15 minute time limit. The time limit together with the pigeon English that the Dev people use to reply to the reviews suggest to me its nothing more than a scam. If you complete the data part, just before the payment screen. it tells you your daily allowance of carbs (26g in my case). Just take a screen shot of this for guidance if you want or get the exact same infomation for free on Google. Before you shell out any money on these Keto Apps, check you can actually eat a lot smaller amount of Carbs/day. A few cups of Tea & Coffee & youve hit the limit, you dont need to spend money on an App to tell you the obvious..Version: 2.56.4

It is not a free appThis is advertising as a free app and it is not !!! I have no problem paying for an app but when false advertise ( in my opinion) what other hidden charges are there going to be . Thanks , this is just my thoughts….Version: 2.93.1

Unable to view or print grocery listI think this app is great in many areas. I love the fact that the app creates a 7 day ongoing meal plan for you to make life easy and save you time planning your own menu, however I was very disappointed to see that this app does not provide you with a grocery list based on the weekly meal plan that you can either print or view on the app. Due to the lack of this feature you are required to click into each meal for the week and write down all the required ingredients for that meal. If you have a plan for 3 meals a day that’s 21 meals and would take goodness knows how long to write out. I would have thought this would have been one of the main features especially when you are providing a meal plan. Other apps like diet doctor app have this feature as well as many others..Version: 2.56.2

Not suitable for meUnfortunately the Keto diet did not suit my needs with the high fat content making me really nauseous..Version: 2.14

Don’t trust itNoticing inconsistencies with regards to scanning Atkins products. Atkins will most often claim less net carbs than the app will claim, and I’d conservatively side with the app when this would occur. Where the app and Atkins agree, however, is with the Atkins chocolate coconut bars, at 2 net carbs, as long as you get the 5 pack. If you want the 10 bar value pack, the app jumps to 10 net carbs; THEY'RE THE SAME BAR, and all the nutritional value, picture on the boxes, etc. is IDENTICAL! Apparently the carbs multiply when too many of them share the same box. There is some comfort in the app limiting you to 34 net carbs a day, where the ketogenic diet usually limits to 50 net carbs, so there is a wider margin of error. But there’s not a fancy formula the app is following, it’s just the simple total carbs, minus grams of fiber, which you can do in your head. It be nice if it factored in the more complicated equations that allow for more flexibility in choices. It’s really useful in tracking your daily consumption instead of tracking it on paper, if you can trust what it’s telling you..Version: 2.80

ScamThis app may be great if you are willing to pay $100 for it. Once you answer the questions it automatically goes to payment options. You don’t even get to see how the app works or see what it offers. There is multiple options for payment plans that is a lie. I chose the 3 month plan for $16 and was charged $50. The app is a scam don’t waste your time..Version: 2.101

Don’t download unless you plan on buying! Waste of time!I was very excited to check out this app. I filled out all the set up questions. However, I can’t even view the layout, options, or if I would like the app, because the pop up requires payment before you can see or try ANYTHING! The App Store says “in app purchases” which implies optional or for premium. There is no free option at all and you can’t see anything to decide if you might like or want to pay for it. Complete waste of time. Don’t bother unless you plan on buying a premium 1 year membership. No try before you buy here. Disappointed! Looking for option for zero star rating. Thank you for not answering my concern in your reply. Feels like you didn’t even read my message. Yes, saw the choice to purchase a plan. However, there is not a decline option. If you close the offer window. It shuts down the app. When you relaunch it goes back to the plan payment page and you cannot access anything on the app to view what it looks like or how it works. Payment is required up front with no option to view first..Version: 2.76

Annoying - I wasted my money to see if it would work.Signed up, went through the whole process to see if it would solve my app woes. I’ve been looking for just a simple way to put my raw food plans into a planner. After being prompted to pay for a month I regretfully did to see if it would be a good app for me. Needless to say it didn’t solve the problem I had. Wasted $25 just to test it. A trial would have been great. Not happy :(.Version: 2.50

A USA based app so…….It is not really geared towards UK products etc. a lot of the recipes contained foods that you could not easily get in the uk of at all. Also many uk barcodes do not scan due to it being USA centred. Also for the huge monthly subscription I would have expected the daily food recording to be more intelligent. For example as long as you stay within your daily goals it says you are doing great. However if you do not consume enough of something you get no feedback to that effect. It needs to be feeding back to you if you fail in your targets somehow as this is a very technical diet to do. Also it would be good if it gave feedback during the course of the day like “ you need to consume 10g more protein before the end of the day”. It should be able to tell if you are on track or not. Anyway hope this helps..Version: 2.58

Ripp OffDon’t download just after money for providing nothing up front !!!.Version: 1.9.1

Not freeWaste of time downloading it. I searched for free app and this came up.Version: 2.37.2

TypicalNo where says subscription but of course costs money… free to upload of course and they get your email address…..Version: 2.81

Can’t even sample it before buyingYou can’t even explore the app before the paywall pops up and there is no option to remove it. So it’s literally forcing $50 something a year before you even look at the app interface. Instant delete..Version: 2.58.7

DECEITFUL APP. Payment NOT optionalI’ve seen many replies to bad reviews on here insinuating that payment is optional. Payment is NOT optional if there are no functions available for free. Without payment the app is useless. This should be stated in your description, not to do so is deceitful. *Edited to add following response* Your ‘explanation’ is ridiculous and does not explain. Your app asks for information, as you correctly state. But why ask for that information BEFORE putting up the paywall. People submit their information, before realising they cannot use ANY part of your app without paying. Payment/subscription request should come BEFORE the request for information, and should be clearly stated in the description BEFORE download..Version: 2.39

Targeted heavily at weight loss and weight controlI’ve honestly barely been able to use the app. I set it up stating I’m going Keto for health and a little more energy. Every page after that asks me questions about losing weight and setting a target weight goal. For one it won’t even let me put in my actual weight. It says it’s too low. Spoiler alert, I have a medical conditions and I’m about as heavy as I’m going to get unless I actually become overweight. Either way, the app forces me to set a Target weight even when I’m not using it for weight loss and sets a diet to help me reach that goal. I’m just looking for an app with recipes to help with routine and planning. I’m during this app is excellent if you’re trying to manage your weight but Keto is not just about weight. I’m sure you are aware there are a variety of reasons people go Keto so I don’t understand why make an app the keeps pressing the weight as the only thing it can help you with. The recipes should be more easy to access.Version: 2.58.5

NOPE NOT FREE!!You change even get a peek into what it dies without taking a payment! I’m in NZ and need to check your ingredients are available here. Sorry, deleting!!.Version: 2.38

Won’t even let you see the app without buying a subscriptionGoing by the screenshots this app seems like it would be good, but once you download it and go through the initial setup it doesn’t even let you see what the app looks like or how it works before it brings up a screen to pay for a subscription. There’s no option for a trial or anything to give you some kind of indication if the app is worth the money, they just expect you to blindly pay for it straight up. Bit of a shady practice and doesn’t instil confidence in the app. If they incorporate an option for a trial period to get a feel for the app I would consider using it, but at this stage I’m not comfortable giving a company money without knowing what I’m paying for..Version: 2.41.2

UnsubscribeI decided not to sign up so haven’t finished so can you stop sending me random messages!!! There’s no way out except to fill out the bit where they take your cash and then you can’t unsubscribe until a week before the next renewal. I would prefer to unsubscribe when ever I want to!.Version: 2.41.3

Could be goodThis app asks you a ton of questions, gets your email address and it seems to be good. Then you get to the end and presto! Can’t go any further without signing up to around $10 month. Should state that before you waste your time, or at least give a free trial to see if you like it. No way will I pay for something I have not seen or even seen the detail. If they provided what they are actually selling before taking your money I may have signed up..Version: 2.83

Can’t get past the obligatory subscribe pageBefore you can even access this app and see if it would work for you up pops the obligatory subscription sign up page that you cannot navigate away from without signing your life away. It would be helpful to be able to access some basic features to be able to test the usability of the app and see if it would fit in with an individual’s daily life. Alas this is just another money grabbing ‘blind date’ kind of app that is a waste of time to download unless you are prepared to hand over cash on a rolling yearly subscription basis without knowing what you are buying! I hate developers that do this! Not even a free trial period - deleted!.Version: 2.28.1

Discouraging to say the leastThe lengthy and detailed process of setting up your account and plan feels like this app wants to provide a decent service. Unfortunately this is undercut by the sudden and unprovoked paywall to actually use the app. With no free services or options I am completely deterred from using it(i would happily watch adds even just to look at my macro numbers, without the recipes and other “fluff” content). The amount of energy you use to convince yourself you need to pay for this app or pay to enjoy a keto lifestyle, could just go into monitoring your own diet. Access to knowledge about how you can be healthier should be free..Version: 2.55

Misleading descriptionDescription says “IF you wish to upgrade” but when you download it, they make you set up your profile and answer all kinds of questions about your lifestyle only to then block you from using the app unless you pay. No way around it. And the developers’ copy-paste response to similar reviews pointing this out is scummy at best. Yes, you don’t advertise the app as free but you do imply that people can use a free version of it. Yes, you collect information in order to set up a dietary plan but how can you say we can then decide if we want to pay or not when we don’t even know what we’re paying for? The only feature we see before having to pay is the part where you collect information! Shady. Uninstalled..Version: 2.37

Off putting subscription processAfter you get through setting up all of your information you are told the app is not free, nor does it have a trial version. There is a 1 week fee paying option however this was not offered at sign up, only more expensive options. I discovered this through looking in ‘my subscriptions’, where there are many sign up options that are not offered in the app. Once in the app there is great information and recipes. However , you can get a ‘meal plan’, but no option to change it or to tailor the meal plan to dietary needs such as vegetarian. Good concept that needs work and greater transparency over their fees.Version: 2.41.2

Leaves A lot to be desiredFirst of all, there is no using any part of this app for free for any length of time. You will be prompted to answer a bunch of questions to create your “master plan” and then just when you think you can see the layout and see how it works you can go no further unless you buy a subscription. I’m pretty fed up with these new buy before you can try applications because invariably the app does not do what it says it will do. I allowed the permissions for it to track my activity from my health app and nothing was ever pulled into the app (except for my weight). I have had to manually enter my activity. It will not link with Fitbit at all, one of the most popular activity trackers on the market. Once you add a food and choose the type of measurement you are stuck with that measurement type the next time you add it from the recent menu, meaning if I weigh my food the first time and enter it in ounces or grams then I’m stuck with ounces or grams and cannot change it to….say slices (lunch meat) the next time I use it from the recent menu. I have to completely add the food again and use slices. This is basic programming, the drop down menu options should still be available the next time you enter that food. It’s little things like this that make the app NOT a joy to use. It just feels thrown together and incomplete. Unfortunately I’m stuck with it for a year..Version: 2.56.6

RefundHi, Was just trying to try it for a month but it was mistakenly purchased this app for a whole year then I did submit a refund from though Apple purchased but it states that I got the refund but instead I got another bill which is ridiculous!!! I want my money back!!!.Version: 2.56.3

Not freeI was listening to a podcast and was told this was free. It’s not.Version: 2.84

MisleadingGot to love the scam, nowhere it talks about money on the App Store, register in app give information they ask for and you can’t use to app without paying to access it.Version: 2.58.3

Honestly...You shouldn’t try and charge someone before seeing if the app is any good. I’m not going to commit and pay these costs when I’m not even sure if the menu is right. You should let people see an example before trying to charge..Version: 2.22

Misleading and expensiveWent through the effort of downloading, entering data and just got to the main screen only to find I HAVE to pay to see anything. I can’t even explore the app to see if it’s worth paying for. Literally open the app and IMMEDIATELY forced to sign up. No free trial, no opportunity to see anything about the data I just input. This app is not free. Costs $105 AUD for 1 year paid upfront. Wasted my time downloading it. I have already deleted the app. Don’t bother unless you’re happy to pay for something you have no idea is right for you..Version: 2.75

So far it’s great.I dieted to a UK size 6 on Keto. In July I got long Covid and I’ve quickly put a lot of weight on. I felt very confused last time I dieted as I never counted calories or macros. Keto keeps my long term inflammation pain at bay and it’s great for my mental health. I haven’t paid for an app in over 10 years and I’ve just paid £60 for the annual subscription. I already feel more at ease by logging and tracking what I’m doing. Is there any info on exercise! It needs more options for logging metric food quantities. I’m reading thru the blog posts and whilst I’m familiar with a lot of content it’s good to re familiarise. Update*** Needs a lot more UK food adding to the database to be on the UK app market! Surely it’s just data that you can buy!! It’s very annoying! Does not recognise simple British food terms. Disappointed in having spent all that money in something that requires so much effort to track. Not a good system at all for inputting your own food, needs to be more customisable instead of just having “one serving”. Very effortful for British customers!.Version: 2.93.1

Not sure it is worth itThere should be a free trial period before you waste your time and pay good money for it. Should have listened to my husband who said if you can’t evaluate first then don’t buy it. There is no way to choose recipes if you don’t like the ones in the app. For me, many of them are gross and I wouldn’t eat them (kimchi, shirataki noodles, tofu, cod roe). You should be able to exchange recipes out for ones you like when setting up your days. You have to look at a different program to calculate macros if you want to stick to a specific net carbs rather than stick to what they say you should have for protein and fat. Not happy about this app but I have to make due since I paid for a year. If they were so confident about it being so good, there would be a free trial. Edit…your response is not helpful or constructive. You never even addressed the issues that were listed. All you focused on was the complaint about the price, which goes to show all you care about is the money you get..Version: 2.41.3

Beware! No ability to download “free” app. Sneakily goes to pay option. Terrible user interface..Version: 2.39

Not FreeThey say it’s a free app , you give them all your personal information then you have to pay to continue.Version: 2.63

People must know the correct price before downloadingMy friend is using this app. I think it’s a good app, however when I wanted to subscribe for a year ( it’s written cost $49.99 or monthly $9.99, when I downloaded an app it’s showing yearly $66.99 & monthly $27.99. I know my friend payed $49 ( a Year ). I am happy to change my rating in future. People need to see the correct information & it’s fine to pay for something, but when I see wrong information, just put me off purchasing. Fix it..Version: 1.12

DisappointingIt’s very disappointing because you can’t use the app unless you pay for a plan like?.Version: 2.75

Only Free for about three minutes? The app description says it’s free (with the basic features) unless you decide to subscribe to get additional features. I didn’t need the additional features, so I figured I could use the free stuff. I signed up, answered their questions, received the “you’ll reach your weight goal in X days”, and then shortly after that screen I wasn’t able to continue unless I agreed to a paid subscription?? I clicked ‘see other plans’ thinking that’s where the Free plan would be, but it still only offered paid plans. I suppose it could be a glitch, but since I couldn’t go any further through the screens, I deleted the app. A waste of my lunch break. 🙁.Version: 2.58.7

Not freeThere is nothing free except this free download. You fill out the plan and then you’re pushed into the subscription page. It’s very misleading. The app that is downloaded for free is inaccessible to use unless you purchase a subscription. You even have your time wasted setting up what you think is your account only to hit the paywall. This is not a feature, this wastes your potential customer’s time. There is nothing in the description of the app that mentions only subscription access available. Give me my time and data usage cost back please. Also the developer will post a condescending copy/paste response onto reviews that misses the point being made about this..Version: 2.31

Miss leading information with free trail!Be careful with the app l signed up for the 7days free trail and my card was charged right away for a year subscription which I don’t need..Version: 1.7.6

DisappointedIt didn’t say I had to pay or give me any options like, 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year or how much, they just took $85.00 out of my account. Not happy ☹️😡.Version: 1.8.4

Absolute disappointmentI pointed my lactose intolerance and chose dairy free foods but the meal plan includes dairy products that I excluded before from the list of foods I eat. What’s the reason to make a poll with so many questions and spend people’s time if it’s not personalized meal plan, rather just recipes from the internet. You can find a million these recipes in IG for free..Version: 2.95

Pointless rip offReality is you can calculate macros and calories for free using various online calculators, there are lots of free recipes readily available on the internet, and you can also log your food for free using MyFitnessPal. This app offers this same functionality along with a meal plan and grocery list. On the face of it a meal plan sounds appealing…but the recommended meal plan is clearly just a default plan, not tailored to your needs…as the calories bore no relation to my recommended calories and could not be tailored based on other dietary needs or likes or dislikes etc, so was useless. Moreover, the grocery list wasn’t even a list of ingredients needed to buy for the meal plan, but rather just a standard lists of keto friendly ingredients in general. Pointless really. You’d think you could create your own meal plan by selecting from the recipes available - and that the grocery shopping list would reflect the meal plan created. Or at the very least, the grocery list would be for what is needed for the “recommended” meal plan. In reality the subscription is a rip off. Nothing more than some recipes you could have gotten free elsewhere, packaged with other tools that are also readily available for free elsewhere. I regret forking out for this subscription and advise people against doing the same..Version: 2.56.1

Can’t see anything without payingYou spend 5 min going through all the questions and them collecting data on you to find you can’t even see the app unless you subscribe. Don’t care if you can cancel it. At the very least should be able to see what it does for 7 days and look around the interface. Useless. It doesn’t matter if it generates macros. All the other apps let you. And you’re own description of the app says it’s free to download and subscription requires certain features such as voice input etc. it implies you’ll still get to at least look at something. The free trial locked behind a $100 subscription hoping you forget is a tad dishonest..Version: 2.58

I like this app but coupd be betterAs anything that is new (and shiny) it is good for what it currently is. But improvements definitely can be made. As an I.T. Person mind you, if I can’t easily navigate between what I want to see quickly, there is an issue. You also need to have much better search engine and predictive text when searching. I should be able to search for “ McDonalds McDouble and take items off of it. So you have the basic but what if I didn’t have the bun, and I got it without ketchup or pickels?” There should be those choices availabe. I know it’s totally totally ght but you put the item in you databse as isand then have all the ingredients on it and their values in the datase as well and when a user of your app wants to customize they can subtract thise items and get near perfect calculation of jet carns and calories... especially net carbs since that is keto but you could easily take these metrics to orher groups who count calories, or protein, etc and market to them as well. You are half way there, just build your database and your metrics and you have a great keto app that is easily “expandale” (because I can’t find the correct word in my vocabulary at the moment, but you know what I mean) that can be used for any kind diet! Fluid is the word that is coming to mind but that’s still not the right one. I hope you know what I am talking about. You build something that the template of what you have created can easily be reproduced iover and over..Version: 2.21

Don’t downloadDon’t download this app it takes your money and you can’t delete the subscription because you can’t get into the app to delete it you also can’t contact them there email just bounces back saying their email is full.Version: 2.56.8

DECEPTIVE!!!As they advertise this app to be free, I downloaded it from the App Store, but that is a lie. It is not free! After going through the initial setup, they ask you to choose a subscription plan and won’t let you navigate the app without paid subscription. The only reason I downloaded the app was to take a look at their “carb tracker” that they had advertised as part of the free app. Guess what? They don’t let you even see that without paid subscription. This is deceitful advertising. I’m deleting this worthless app..Version: 2.55

WorkbooksOrdered the workbooks several days ago. Received a message they would be sent within a few minutes. It has been several days and still no workbooks Very disappointed in the app..Version: 2.95

Not optimised for UKFood lists are not optimised for UK customers and I often just need to find best fit options which is not ideal when critical accuracy for carb intake needed. The scanner function is poor and leaves lots of data to correct or input which is too time consuming. On a more positive note the carb counter is a good tool and the dashboard is clear. The help and tips are very good and very educational. That said a for a small price you could buy a book that would tell you all this for a fraction of the price. I have lost weight since using this app and I am on target but I’m now not really using app daily as it is so vague. I’m using packet data and recording it myself as I have to just make up alternatives to match the carb totals which defeats point and the overall nutrition data Fitbit is far more accurate, UK friendly and calculates calories much more accurately with great product food library and offsets against actual exercise and activity. Plus it’s free. I cancelled my annual subscription for Keto very quickly and would not recommend..Version: 2.56.3

Stop wasting our time! Why the hell would you let us fill out a whole form just to tell us at the end you have to pay that’s so annoying!!!!! Stop trying to waste our time!.Version: 2.58.5

Have subscription before account set upI went through the whole set up to find out there isn’t a free option. Your description says ‘upgrade’ costs for extra, but upgrade from what there is no free account to upgrade from. I’d recommend having the subscription set up first before spending time providing all my info to find out I won’t use it as I’m not keen to subscribe before I try to see if there are results. Maybe even a 3 month or 30 day trial? Just some suggestions..Version: 2.56.5

From Maxine I’DonnellI no longer require your Keto app thanks. As I wrote in my message some days ago, I found it all too confusing and had to get get help from a digital expert last week. He was a male with Type 1 diabetes. Having seen me and asking lots of questions he was most concerned that I was going to follow your Keto plan. I have no complaints about your plan, and have heard of some good results, but feel that it is not for me. As mentioned, I made a wrong choice and am very sorry that I paid out over $160 all up. It was a lot of money considering I am on a pension. As for a review - good luck and strong control for all those attempting a lasting result. It sounds terrific..Version: 2.35

Forces You to payYOU CANT leave the splash page because the only option is to pay. REALLY disappointing..Version: 1.9

My view of the appI’m new to this keto diet I am a month into it and I tried this app along 2 others to track foods for a few weeks .i did like the app at one point which is why I ended up upgrading but it’s not something I was looking for in a app.I noticed when I tracked food on one keto app and this app the food would be different in calories , net carbs etc. and I would write and track the exact same thing . I just like this other app personally because I could scan something on the other app and it would be helpful to see what I can have and what to avoid.I don’t think this is a bad app it’s just tedious to me if I forget to track something and I try to track it later I have to wait a minute or two to make sure they don’t end up logged all together as one giant meal. I wish it had a part that tracks your water intake like a couple of other apps it might just be just me. At one point I did like that it was set up by times since my mornings do start early but I just don’t like that if you forget you can’t log what you had and another meal all at once .it’s just not helpful for me to keep track personally on meals i eat. I did like the information it would give it’s useful but just not sure if it is for me now..Version: 2.79

Hmmm not convinced yetI mainly like this app. The voice recognition is a lot better than the search option. It’s helpful and I like the insights. I feel like the developers are missing a trick with the shopping list though. The app has lots of helpful recipes. As a lactose intolerant person, I can work my way around the dairy added to each recipe however what’s missing is the option to add the ingredients in the recipes to your shopping list. It would make shopping for the meal plan much easier. If you could do something about this particular point I feel the subscription would be worth it..Version: 2.18.1

No free trialI came to this app via a link saying it was free. I went through the whole sign up process which seemed impressive! Then comes the kicker and you have to pay, not unexpected however usually there is a free trial first. As a consumer this kind of dark UX pattern really puts me off purchasing. With no option to try before you buy it seems a bit scammy. Now reading other comments I can see I am not the only one (and I’m glad I didn’t fork out as it seems it’s not particularly useful for UK based users, which I am). It also seems that many others have voiced their concern only to receive a standard “thanks for flagging we’ll take it under consideration” - which I’m sure I’ll also receive. These responses to a valid user experience demonstrates that they only care about getting our information and making money. This app is just a vehicle to do that, which is disappointing..Version: 2.75

Can’t even try before payingThis app is not free and has no free trial. Misleading..Version: 2.25

No free optionThe app is free to look at the icon on your phone and that’s about it. You get motivated to do a diet, download the app and find out you can’t even try it out even a trial! Do not download unless you have money to pay for a subscription and if you don’t like the app, you can leave and lose your money I guess. Bad tactics to swindle money..Version: 2.104

Pricing not clear - charges for year when it appeared to be 7.99 monthlyNot easy to use app that’s why I cancelled same day as I bought..Version: 2.81

Poor user experienceAfter reading the excellent reviews, I decided to give this app a go. I used other apps (such as Carb Manager) before but would like to discover more keto apps. After I installed it and set up my profile, I never got a chance to look at the app. The annoying Premium Fee screen kept coming up, and I could hardly see anything or explore any features. I ended up paying the whole year's premium because the app only offered three months and one-year premium options, and the price was not far from each other. After 10 mins with the app, I was disappointed because it doesn't have as much of a food database as other apps I had used before(I am in Australia.) I needed to log many foods manually instead of using a barcode scan. Scanning the food label nutrient options took a long time as well. I recommend the app develop more functions such as a fast timer, a filter for recipes to quick filter dietary style, various macro calculations fit for other keto or low carb users, and daily goals more visualized on the interface..Version: 2.56.7
