Planta: Complete Plant Care for Negative User Reviews

Hit or miss with certain plantsI’ve been using Planta for approx 2 months now. This app has been a real hit or miss for me. Some of my plants are THRIVING with Plantas suggested care schedule (succulents, cacti, money plants, monsteras - all growing like crazy and sprouting new roots) and other plants I have are maintaining a “pretty good” status (Swiss cheese plant, pothos, Spanish moss). However, there are some plants that I’ve been caring for by myself for a long time prior to using the app that Planta’s care schedule have completely killed. I had a living stone for 10 months and after only 1 month using the app it was completely dead and shrivelled up and had to be tossed away. My String of Pearls plant that I’ve had for 3 years is also suffering greatly and was heading towards a quick demise due to Plantas care suggestions. It’s super dried out and lots of the strings have fallen off. It used to have cute sprouted roots but now it’s fighting for its life. I figured out how to set a custom schedule for it though so I’m hoping that works better. This is all with the correct window distance/pot/location info inputted too..Version: 3.8.3

Nice butIts a nice app, many details, location, sun from xyz… Funny enough I mooved, quite a bit the sun the windows …. All changed, but I can’t change my physical adresse in the app 😂 so it is not as good as it was for my plants 🤷🏼‍♀️.Version: 3.33.0

Not bad but location doesn’t updateI don’t mind this app as i mostly use it to keep track of my collection but it does tend to prompt me to water my plants a little too often. that isn’t an issue for me though. the problem is when i first downloaded this app i was in another state of my country and it hasn’t reset back to my home location since coming back home. how do i change it? if someone could let me know that would be helpful. thanks.Version: 3.1.0

Not for outdoor plantsNot for plants that have been planted. Cool app but not useful for me.Version: 3.31.0

Killed my bonsaiI followed the watering recommendations of the app and it ended up killing my bonsai by underwatering when winter arrived.Version: 3.22.0

This is not freeThis app tracks your all information from phones, and ask for location access. Its only payment based. There are few free apps also like this..Version: 3.25.0

Latest update has created a nearly unusable appThe app used to work wonderfully. But I would honestly recommend passing on it until they implement some fixes. I’m not sure if it was the latest update, but suddenly I have a very laggy, buggy app with no way to mark plants as watered (if you happen to deter from their schedule). It’s actually created a lot of confusion and I have a dozen or so plants that are completely out of whack with the app not properly recording data. Aside from that, the app no longer wants to mark any task as complete without a fight. I have 50+ plants, so this can mean a lot of tasks in one day. It freezes on the loading screen when you click the check mark and in most cases, I’m having to force close the app just to get off that screen. Sometimes the task is recorded, sometimes it’s not. If it’s not, you click the check mark again and it gives you a red error (presumably it did record the task just not anywhere you can see), and then it’ll finally show it as complete on your end. This is a lot of added steps towards the main function of this app. It’s supposed to make things more convenient and easy to track and right now, I do not feel it is living up to that. Again, I used to LOVE this app and if they can turn these more recent issues around, I would recommend it. I just feel any newcomers will find it very frustrating in its current state..Version: 2.8.2

Not stoked at allI’m quite gutted with this purchase. The free version wasn’t useful to me at all, got the premium and that wasn’t much better. I tried to Id most of my plants and it was wrong every single time. Lucky for me I know what I have but it wouldn’t be useful to people who really don’t know. It gives you a bunch of options of what it could be, but most times If you are trying to id a plant you don’t know. I didn’t realise it would charge me the full $60, I thought it was monthly. I wish that was more clear when purchasing. I’ve now deleted the app so that’s Money down the drain. :(.Version: 3.1.3

New colours are baby poopI can’t look at baby poop every day. Had to unsubscribe. Sorry. Email when you go back to the original look and you can have my money again. Ewwwww And the contrast of it gives me a headache. It wasn’t broken. Why did you wreck it?.Version: 3.0

Almost love this! This app is so close to a 4-star in my book, but it could be a 5-star app. I’m a Planta user and pay for the membership because it is worth it compared to other apps like this. The app is nice! It allows you to find out what any unknown new plant friends you brought in. It helps you determine the best place to put your plants. It even reminds you when to water, mist, and fertilize. However, you only have access to some of these functions as a paying member. I think it would be nice to allow these functions for free but offer paying members access to online plant help through the app for beginners to work one on one and maybe open forums for users to chat when help isn’t available? Also, I feel like there are fewer “homesteader” plant options available, which leads me to having to turn to other sources. I think that especially right now, the app would benefit from that. Many people are starting to grow their own foods at home right now. Also it would be cool to see how-to content about care for each plant. You could have people submit videos to reach out to the public about this. Taking care of my plants has been one of the things getting me through this!.Version: 1.6.9

Free app has only 1 featureDownloaded this app for the light meter and discovered after much looking for the feature that it is only available if I pay…this is not mentioned in the preview info. Deceptive.Version: 3.36.3

My plants are dying!Terrible app! My plants were healthy and thriving, but wanted the app to help me better understand what individual needs for water and fertilizer were, rather than continuing to wing it as I had been doing. Now, after following the advice for two months some of my plants are wilting and dying! The ones that aren’t are still alive because I went rogue to give them water when I felt like they needed it rather than waiting for the app to tell me. The app knows where I live so it should recognize the dry climate requires more water. Why bother specifying my location otherwise!.Version: 3.11.1

One Addition I Think Should Be Added, Considering The Price!I downloaded this after seeing it in the Apple store, but upon seeing the price for a year, and no permanent price, for instance, I was rather dismayed to discover that there wasn’t a list of the current plants that could be shown to us with their photos and common and scientific names, before we purchase this app for any length of time or of the premium plan! I happen to be a multi year customer of two major nurseries back east, in Connecticut and in Florida, and they have a vast selection of the rarest tropical plants and tropical flowers and tropical fruit, of anywhere in the country, and possibly in the entire world including Australia! Before I would purchase this, I would want to have communications with this developer and give them the names of those nurseries and await their response, and know that they do have all of the needed information first! I am not about to pay down $36, and then find it won’t be of little or any use to me! But I think they give us too little to make any real determination about whether we want his app or not, and rather force us into paying for this before we have any real idea of how much good or not, it would do us in attending to our plants correctly, considering the vast array of plants that are out there! It’s much easier to get information about plants that grow in this United States, but not from outside of our borders!.Version: 1.9.1

No Trial PeriodThe app looks wonderful but I’m not willing to buy a month subscription just to try the photo feature on it. Would be so much better if they give you a trial period to use the plant camera once or twice before needing a subscription..Version: 3.36.2

No notifications? This app concept is good except I wish it would actually give me notifications! I have everything turned on and updated in iOS and yet it still won’t nudge me when it’s time to water only once I open the app I see that some plants are due for watering which defeats the purpose of this app for me. Also I wish you could add potsize and recommendations for how much water for each plant. Thanks..Version: 3.12.0

Not taking pot type into accountThe app requests you to fill in which pot type you are using. If you enter that you are using a pot without draining holes, the app still advises you when you have to water you must keep giving water until water flows out of the drainage holes...Version: 3.30.1

SillyYou can't do anything with this app until you pay $56 which is ridiculous as you can find all the information they're telling you out on the internet for free... I wouldn't bother downloading the app for anyone..Version: 3.16.0

Very bad watering scheduleNever really killed a plant before untill this app now I have 5 dead plants which used to be thriving, very bad watering schedule..Version: 3.24.0

Task list brokenWhenever I open the app to see what plants need care today, the app assumes I’ve already seen the list and removes everything from my todays tasks..Version: 3.21.3

Pretty goodIt’s great for indoor plants basic information. But it feels like most information is locked until you pay for it, including toxicity (!), and the price is quite high monthly. Outdoor plants aren’t supported, with no options for just planting something in the ground. No info on trees or large shrubs..Version: 3.1.8

No free trial of premium. The app is barely usable it’s it’s “free” edition. I won’t buy any app ever that does not allow for a free trial of the premium version. I don’t want to pay for something that’s not worth it! And it’s hard to determine that when most of the app is locked out..Version: 3.31.0

Buggy/glitchyI've had the premium version of this app for over a year and I absolutely loved it. Yes it's schedule isn't perfect but it definitely helps to keep track of watering and all that extra stuff because over the summer I had amidst 160 plants... So why the two stars? See originally I would have given this app a 5 star rating, but up until 3 months ago the app completely stopped working, I've almost never had an issue with its before, but now it's so glitchy I can't keep track of any of my plants. I have to choose out the app about 7 times before I can actually do anything... And if I try to go to my daily tasks forget about it. I don't want to delete it because i have over a years worth of plant info on there but honestly I don't even use the app anymore. I've had to learn to just put my plants on a "judgment" schedule... It gets a bit overwhelming at times because I have to many plants and I wish the app worked. I've tried everything but Uninstalling the app for fear of losing all my info... I really hope you guys get all these glitches fixed... This was my favorite plant app hands down..Version: 1.9.9

Could be great but quite thereThe app looks amazing and is very easy to use and laid out nicely. The issue is technically it’s very inaccurate! I’ve had to repot 3 plants in an effort to save them due to over watering on the apps schedule! The watering schedule might work in the height of summer but in winter and my house location which it’s got from Google my poor plants are drowning!! I only really wanted it for diagnosing struggling plants both have since died following the apps recommendations, one suggestion I flat ignored because it clearly wasn’t what was wrong with the plant! Lovely idea but needs a lot more research and data to actually care for the plants! I’ve deleted the app because my plants are doing considerably worse with using the app!.Version: 3.22.0

Could be improvedI’m a paid member, and I absolutely love this app. It keeps me on track when the number of plants I have to take care of is overwhelming. It’s beautiful and gives great information on each plant. The reason for 3 stars is because I think there are so many ways it could be improved. Namely, more customizations and better care info. I wish I could give my pilea plant a custom task like “rotate once every three days” or something. Or I could choose which image I want as the main picture for my plant while still adding more pictures in its personal album. I wish the app included the size of the pot in how often we need to water, because my smaller pots need water much more often than my larger ones too. I also wished the care instructions were more in depth. Each plant is given the same categories of care, but as plant owners know, some plants have very specific care needs. It would be great if each plant had its own small blurb at the end written by someone at the planta team which felt more personal. These suggestions are just to name a few. I hope with more and more updates we start to see an app with better functionality while still keep its clean and easy-to-use look..Version: 1.8.7

Needs to be improvedOne thing that doesn’t make sense is the fact that you can’t personalize the dates for when it notifies you to water your plants. The day you download the add is the automatic day all your plants need to be watered. What if I had watered my plant before I downloaded the app? Also some of my plants don’t need to be watered yet but I continue to get notifications that I have tasks that are late. Also I gave one of my plants extra water and I wasn’t able to track it because the app considered it to early so the option wasn’t even given to document it. Also it sets automatic days you have to water your plant. For example every 9 days you have to water your monstera but this doesn’t consider the size of the plant. A bigger plant has different watering needs then a smaller plant of the same kind. I do like the plant helper feature that helps you diagnose what’s wrong with your plant. I also like how it has a lot of information about a wide variety of plants and includes pictures. Another think I forgot is the app is demanding me to repot my plant but why?? There is no reason to so why am I getting the notification to do it? All the information I gave was that my plant was in a plastic pot in a medium lit room. What could have indicated I needed to repot my plant from that information given? The light meter feature was also helpful might I add. I was a premium member for about 4 weeks but now I think I’m switching to another app..Version: 2.0.3

Amazing app, terrible lagI’d recommend this app for anyone, from beginner to expert gardener. But the lag is sooooo bad that I’m forced to subtract 2 stars. It was much faster a year ago..Version: 3.34.0

Not loadingI usually love this app but it is saying location and temperature N/A. I can’t see anything. Won’t load since last update.Version: 3.8.4

Directions lead to root rot on a plant worth £75.This app quite literally gave my bird of paradise plant terrible root rot. I got the app after having successfully looked after all my plants (never had any issues with root rot or anything) for a long time, I was simply working longer hours and wanted something to remind me when to water the plants so I could get into the routine with it again. I put in all the correct info and for my bird of paradise it told me to water once every 4 days? This seemed strange to me as everywhere else online I could not find anyone suggesting to water it even as often as once a week. Still considering I had inputed all my information specific to the room I chose to trust it. The plant slowly began to look very unhappy, leaves browning and cracking, some totally dying. It is now in a very fragile state that it may not come back from and upon examination, definitely has serious root rot from being watered far too regularly! Very upset about this as it was a very expensive plant and I even paid for a Planta membership. Really awful app that is obviously untrustworthy for certain plants (god knows why it messed up so badly on that one plant as it was fine with the rest, but it is so not worth the risk when you have expensive plants)..Version: 1.9.3

Needs another optionI’m only new to this app so can’t rate fairly … my apologies A lot of my plants are in self-watering pots & it gives no options or guidelines … for thirsty plants I leave some water in the well (but which plants) - others I’ll shower until water just runs through & let dry out (for how long tho) … is it right??? - is it wrong??? Best way to feed & when … ect What plants benefit from self-watering pots & what don’t Like I mentioned … only new to app … does it cater to a persons general living areas ie: Melbourne (Australia) … I’m just using free option atm Thanks.Version: 2.7.7

Useless and full of ads free, Premium overpricedUltimately the app does have potential. The free version is very limited which is expected and i'd be happy so settle for if they didn't constantly push the premium version. The UI is ingrained with ads for it, constantly suggests features hidden behind the paywall, and sends push notifications to buy it. Even considered it but for $55... a year!? What a joke..Version: 3.25.0

Too generalI’ve been using this app for over 8 months and most of my plants have perished. I got it specifically to get help with my prayer plant but that one was dead very soon after I started using the app. It recommended much more watering especially on peace lilies than I had been doing previously and they all died consequently. I even subscribed for the pro service, thinking I just need to learn more details but the advice I received always came back very general. Nothing you can’t Google for yourself frankly. It also recommends you fertilise your plants throughout the year and it’s clear especially my snake plants did not enjoy this. Have just lost another one finally so I am giving up on this app and going back to a more intuitive watering schedule with a moisture meter to avoid over watering further. One thing the app is good for is figuring out what pests there might be if you’re not sure why plants are doing poorly. But don’t just water your plants even if the top soil is dry! Always check with a moisture meter and most of the time, the app is telling you to water plants that don’t need it..Version: 3.33.0

Don’t trust Planta’s care scheduleI’ve been using this app for almost a year and honestly you can’t trust the watering and care schedule. For every plant I have I’ve filled out every detail (pot size, soil used etc etc). Now what was a perfectly healthy tree has developed root rot. What was healthy flowers has been overwatered and now died. I had blamed myself the whole time but finally got curious and googled all my different plants and realised Planta’s care schedule is wrong for every single one. Massive disappointment. Really hoping I can save my plants now.Version: 3.35.0

Well I dont knowI applied for the 1 month and paid but all i get is the circle going around and around It wont load completely or something I have hi speed internet so its not that so i dont know.Version: 3.21.3

The content is horribleSome plants have information that is “canned” and used for other plants. I’ve found a couple of instances where I am looking for information about my fern and get info about caring for an orchid? Whut?? How would a beginner know if the instructions are correct for their plant if the wrong info is associated with it?? The watering and fertilizing schedule is also really off - I just repotted my plant and it’s already asking me to water it?? And a few days later, feed it?? It also identified my philodendron as a dumb cane multiple times (among many other incorrect plant IDs). There are also so many grammar and spelling errors, it’s like the CMS is just plugging in names of plants into canned content to be reused. At $53 a year, I was hoping this could be a guide for me to care for more advanced plants, but there are just way too many content inaccuracies for the basic ones that I’d be faster to kill my plants myself, than to use this app to kill them. Want a refund..Version: 1.8.1

Doesn’t realise which hemisphere I am inI love so many features of this app but it is frustrating that it knows where I live and when I’ve had rain, yet it doesn’t realise I am in the southern hemisphere and prepare for spring tasks are 6 months too soon. What should I be doing to prepare for winter? I can’t seem to override this anywhere. I’ve submitted a support ticket but seems not to have had a response..Version: 3.26.2

Update makes the app unusableI've loved Planta for over a year and been recommending it to everyone I know. But the latest update has signed me out of the app, and I'm unable to log back in because the "Forgot password" button is beneath the keyboard 🙄.Version: 3.1.1

Good but slowI’m no green thumb so I found the app is good for water scheduling and organizing plants, even on the free version. But it is so slow to load sites or plants that I stopped enjoying using the app..Version: 3.9.2

Wasted my moneyWish I hadn’t wasted my money. Used the identifying feature on 3 different plants with completely wrong answers. Completely useless for what I want it for.Version: 3.26.1

AustraliaHaving had great plans when I downloaded this app and read the reviews…I’m somewhat dissatisfied with this app. I live in Australia, in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney. This app constantly tells me there’s rain when it’s 30+full sun. It’s geotagged yes? So that should be the way that the app tells me to water my plants or not. I’m finding I’m ignoring the app and marking all tasks complete just to get the tasks out of the way. Most of the time I’ve completed them before the alerts anyway..Version: 3.45.2

Would not recommendThis app indentified nearly all of my plants wrong and gave no real helpful suggestions would not recommend.Version: 3.31.0

Could be betterGood app but I wish it could do more than tell you when to water it without paying. Even if it told you how much water to give it , that would make it so much better.Version: 3.35.0

Waste of moneyDr planta is useless. I contacted several times about the same issue and they were unhelpful. App also didn't recognise some of my plants. These are common plants..Version: 3.22.0

Useless appVery disappointed with the app. Doesn’t really do much, can’t even recognise my plans correctly and only tells me when to water them, which I can check by myself. Waste of money.Version: 3.33.0

For rich people onlyNot much you can do for your plants without needing premium - I understand needing premium for certain features as that’s how these apps are funded but I can’t even click on a generic issue I’m having with my plant without saying I need to upgrade? I’m a beginner in this and just wanted some trusted advice. Don’t buy this app if you can’t afford to pay for a subscription basically. There are some good features however if you want to keep a journal of your plants progress or if you want general advice on looking after plants but you can find this online pretty much anywhere. Would love to find an app which is more understanding of people who don’t have the money to spend on subscriptions.Version: 3.38.1

Missing key piecesThis app achieves the very basics, but that’s it. For what I paid, I expected a lot more. The ailment diagnostic and treatment feature is practically unusable. I have gone in several times already knowing my plant’s ailment and have not gotten the right answer after answering all of Planta's prompts. I had to enter them manually, which was STILL harder than it had to be. Just let me click a button that says my plant has sunburn! Other ailments like thrips it tells you how to treat and then when you click that you’ve done it for the day it says you’ve “cured” thrips. Anyone who has battled thrips knows one treatment does not cure thrips. So this feature is not accurate or useful. Plant ID is completely inaccurate and there are a shocking number of common houseplants missing or labeled in a super weird way in the app. The light meter, one of the premium features, did not work. It told me every room was dark, including my south facing windows. Lastly, it gives you way too many things to do for each plant, I think just to make you think you need the app. My plants do not need to be misted twice a week. That is absolutely bonkers. No chance I am continuing my subscription of this app..Version: 1.9.7

You have to pay for the Dr planterMostly paid features.Version: 3.36.3

Cannot scan even 1 plant to try. Have to pay a subscription immediatly. Useless.Very dissapointed that you cannot even try the app..Version: 3.21.3

Not freeDisappointing that to use the majority of the app you need to pay a subscription. This should be made more clear in the description..Version: 2.4.0

AccuracyI have 1 year subscription but it seems like the accuracy is not that great. I have scanned 2-3 plants which were surrounded by few grass or weed. The results for all of those were same whereas I am aware that those are not same plants. Tried taking pictures from different angles and results were different every time except the right one..Version: 3.47.0

Just okIf you’re new to plants, im sure this could be helpful however the recommended watering schedule is quite off. when you add a new plant, stating you’re unsure of when it’s been watered last, it’ll remind you to water it everyday which bugs me. you also can’t add most plant info without the premium version which you have to pay for, but with how mediocre the regular version is I’m not very tempted to pay for it..Version: 3.29.2

Poor expert help, not worth the priceThe high price was justified by the offer of expert help. But it just seems like an FAQ, and it’s really reinforced by tasks like “have you completed the task of fixing your plants health today?” This is a nice app of reminders, and a database of plants (although didn’t have 1/3 of mine). But that basic stuff doesn’t justify such a high priced subscription. 5 star free app 2 star high priced subscription.Version: 3.25.0

Started out great, each update makes things worse :/I got this app over a year ago when I really started getting into plants. I researched a bunch of apps, tried a few out, and like Planta the best. However since then, a number of updates have made it much less easy to use or messed things up. Now that they finally got rid of the bug where it gets stuck and doesn’t mark a plant watered when you check it (really fun to close the app each time I watered one of my 180+ plants 😩), new problems arise! This seems like an intended change, though I’m not sure why - they got rid of the alphabet on the right side, so you can’t just click on a letter and go to it, you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to get to it. Why on earth would you get rid of that?? Of course to make it worse, there is an unintended bug to go along with it - the Search function on your plant list doesn’t work anymore. So literally the only way you have to find a certain plant is to SCROLL and scroll and scroll forever. Who has time for that? I got an app to make my hobby easier, not harder. And I intended to get the premium version once I got more into plants/felt like I needed it….although I do need it, I haven’t gotten it because there is always some issue. If the basic features don’t work/are taken away, I’m not going to pay for a premium version. Get it together..Version: 3.4.0

Sour lemonsI live in Malta - in the Mediterranean. As in no winter really. I have an ever-bearing meyer lemon tree in my house. Your app keeps telling me to overwinter my tree and only water & fertilize once a month! It’s full of buds, flowers and has multiple fruits on it! It needs to be fed and watered pretty much weekly if I want any kind of fruit production. Update: thanks to following the “schedule” on this app, I’ve killed 3 potted citrus trees mostly because your app told me not to feed or water them enough. Several other plants have died because you told me to water them too often. Not a happy gardener! I’m canceling my subscription and finding a different app..Version: 3.30.0

What happened??I have the premium service and the app was amazing until the last couple of updates. Now it keeps crashing on me, some of my plants have disappeared so I have had to re add them when I notice a plant I haven’t cared for in a while only to find it gone from my list. With the latest update, when I check off tasks, it takes forever to load, then when I open the app again later the tasks have reappeared!!! I have tasks I completed a few days ago still waiting for completion saying they are 3 days overdue. Close to canceling my subscription.Version: 3.1.1

Very Interested…ButI refuse to use Apple Pay Wallet or PayPal due to painful identity theft. I was willing to submit my one credit card for payment. It was not accepted but rather recommended the aforementioned subscription & payments option. Nope! As much I would enjoy this. I can find other resources. Maybe not as fancy or as detailed, but not as risky either. The App creators should not be limited to Apple’s Monopoly on payment methods. You are losing subscribers while Apple makes money on the device, your software and rejecting any payment option that won’t contribute to their monopoly. As soon as my Apple phone is extinct, as is my iMac and iPad, I’m done with Apple. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our other products EXCEPT Apple will not updated the operating system. We are expected to purchase simply because Apple refuses to update older models. HA! Not happening. We have a cheap laptop & are living fine without our iPads. Your company should be investigated for unfair business practices and illegal monopoly. Not that I care. I’m a professional trouble shooter. I can work around your greedy (liberal) money grabbing lack of decency. Just watch! Tired of your B.S. and your in-your-face politics. All about it green energy while you bury perfectly good computers, etc. because you choose the almighty dollar over the environment. Climate change is about making money. Planta developers suffer because you want me to use your payment scheme. Disgusting!!.Version: 3.4.0

Good for the ones you’ll forget, overdoes the restI’ve had this app for over a year now, and found its great for reminding me to look after the succulents and cacti that I’d otherwise likely care for too irregularly. The plant identifier is handy and mostly accurate, and the general info has helped a fair few times. However, for every other plant I own, the app recommends watering and fertilising far to regularly. I followed it for a while and wondered why everything was doing so poorly, or dying! After a few deaths, I sought advice and started ignoring it, and the survivors are improving. I now snooze 90% of its requests after investing in a moisture metre and trusting myself a little more as to what feels like it needs water based on the info and Google. Some of the requests I snooze a 5-6 times before actually doing something, and everything is better for it. At the point of purchasing the app and subscription I was very new to caring for plants, and felt I needed guidance. This app is not suitable for that situation!! Also, the dr planta advice is useless. In summary, I only use this app now really for the stuff that rarely needs care, and for some general info. I’ve started completely ignoring it for everything else, as it leads to root rot!.Version: 2.7.2

All my plants died of thirstThe recommendations for how regular you should water your plants results in my plants always dying! I wish there was a way for you to manually adjust it. I have tried adjusting some of the settings like saying I use a grow light, or my plant is near a heater but still it doesn’t do anything. I am terrible with plants I’ll admit so I thought if I had an app that regularly reminded me it would be fine. But unfortunately the app doesn’t work as expected..Version: 3.26.1

Invasive data collectionGoes way beyond what it needs to.Version: 2.7.6

What happened?I’ve been using this app for over a year and it was initially such a blessing and made the maintenance of 10+ plants much easier. In the last 4 months the app has gone downhill and none of my progress gets saved, meaning my watering schedule is out of balance and I’ve lost a lot of plants to rot. The advice the app gives doesn’t really offer anything, and while the paid service might be more reliable, I’d be sceptical on spending that kind of money on an app that can’t do exactly what it says it does on the free trial version. Old review: This app has made maintenance so much easier. I have a variety of plants and a busy day job, so the reminders and schedule is so handy so I don’t overwater and kill my plants. The diarised style of the app is fun to track progression. My plant kids and I are working on healing after many years of abuse via overwatering - the app is a life saver!.Version: 3.32.0

Good but so close to being greatThe app is a really good reminder to check on my plants. It’s amazing to have all the info at my finger tips for all the different plants I have around the house too. Seasonal watering schedule is brilliant, although for me I still think it’s asking me to water too frequently, I tend to snooze actions a lot. Which leads me to my biggest frustration. When snoozing the watering and fertilising they end up getting totally out of sync. If I snooze watering a plant until ‘next time’ it doesn’t seem to automatically push back fertilising with it. Which means I often end up with multiple plants in the app requesting I water and fertilise at the same time which is frustrating. I realise is possible to see the history for each plant which helps a little but it doesn’t half make the job a lot more time consuming!.Version: 1.9.8

Needs some workGreat to see the addition of grow lights! However, still buggy. Tasks are not completing - e.g plants I mark as watered or snoozed are showing up the next day as over due. Slow to load plants and tasks (although I do have about 50 plants, but that’s low in the plant community!). Progress updates are either not loading or stop completing after 3 or 4 in a row..Version: 3.17.0

Plant careThis app is deceiving. I thought it would help me identify the problem or disease with a plant as you mention DrPlant in your description…. How do we access advice for a plant which has spots on it?.Version: 2.5.2

Not free to use as a plant identifierIf you’re considering downloading this for the plant identifier feature, then don’t. That function is only included on the premium edition with a monthly subscription fee..Version: 3.26.1

A little bit buggy since the last visual changedHello, I really appreciate the app. It’s easy to remind me of all the plants I have. However, it’s a little bit buggy at times. You open it to see your notifications and you see « An error as occur ». It can last all day when it happens. Also, when you click to enter the progress of plants, sometime you juste have a loading wheel and nothing happens. It’s the little things that bothers me..Version: 3.11.1

I find myself becoming increasingly frustrated with the app's lack of featuresAs my plant collection and knowledge has grown I've found myself becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of some crucial details or rather, the inability to add them. There's no option for leca or sphagnum moss as substrate. The watering schedules for some plants are just completely off. My collection is largely indoors and under grow lights and temperature is 70+ degrees so there should be an option to keep the watering schedule consistent during the "off" season, but instead I either have to update it for every plant (about 90) to a custom watering schedule or continue to add watering events which doesn't help anything but waste more time. Most of my plants haven't slowed down since fall began, so I don't see the point of Planta changing the watering schedule. I don't find it worth paying for Planta when it makes me this frustrated and will be phasing it out. It's also buggy and slow when I'm trying to click the bubbles to complete a task. I feel like the app could be better. Right now, I'm regretting the subscription. I've used this app for 6 months..Version: 2.6.3

The developer plays the rating systemSo I left a very elaborate review a month ago or so ago, with criticism pertaining the UX/UI, the inability to temporarily designate a care-person (for when you’re absent), as well as a single bug. They responded 4 weeks ago, but addressed the bug itself, and gave an unsatisfying “you can add the caretaker to your Family account or share the password” suggestion regarding care-person. They asked to contact about the bug and so I did. They never responded back. Now I wanted to add another UX/UI issue to my review, when I noticed it was gone. What the developer did is they reported that review to Apple, on the (false) grounds that it was a bug report. This is a known trick to game the AppStore review system. None of my sensible issues nor suggestions were addressed. After using the app for couple months it’s getting more tedious by the day. Example: when I am scheduled to add a fertilizer, but don’t remember if a plant likes to dry out between waterings, the watering information is 4-5 clicks away, and a long scroll to the bottom of a Plant info page. For something this obvious, i.e. that the fertilizer is water, too, you’d expect them to be a bit more imaginative about the UX patterns..Version: 3.9.0

So DisappointedI am so disappointed that I paid more than $50 for this and really want a refund. I was convinced by the reviews but it is too superficial and inaccurate. Just told me again there is rain my my area….I live in Western Australia and no rain for weeks and none is forecasted. Unless they mean AUSTRALIA is my area 🙄🙄 really unhappy.Version: 2.7.7

Good concept, but needs workI almost don’t want to recommend any new plant owners use this app, with the fixed watering schedule without knowing your location and tracking your local weather, you may get your plants killed with this app. I’ve been using the app for one month now. I’m not an expert on plants, but I have about 20 indoor and outdoor plants that lives over 5+ years. A healthy plant requires more than just watering, it also depends on lighting, and local weather. Even in the same house, you may experienced a plant grows different on a different location of the house. For Planta’s free plant, it only offers FIXED watering dates, which you can’t even make personalization changes. Does paid version fix this problem? It didn’t say—this, the marketing team did a bad job on promoting the paid version. With the fixed schedule, for my tomato I bought in March, it’s recommending to water every 3 days, until today, May 7, it still says the same thing. But I live in California and today the highest temperature is above 90, you basically have to water tomato everyday otherwise it’s gonna die. Same with my indoor plants. One plant I’ve been watering it once a week for years, then Planta suggests to water it every two weeks. I decided to give it a try, and going to stop this suggestion as I see the plant leaves gotten bad. I’m currently debating on deleting this app, as I don’t see its being actually helpful..Version: 1.8.1

HmmmI can not work out how to upgrade to premium..Version: 2.7.5

Cannot loginChanged phones and now the app won’t login. I always get an error message to contact support. Did that and never heard back from them. Very disappointed.Version: 3.0

Not for desert-dwellersSo admittedly I’m new at plants, but even with the location classification, the watering schedule is way off. I’m from Phoenix, and the app told me to water a dracaena once a month... lol. I left for a week and the soil was bone-dry. It’s too bad- the app is beautifully done. I’ll try setting my own schedules, but that seems like it defeats the purpose of the app. ETA: I triple-checked my inputs. 9b, dry air, draft, correct temp, partial sun, and nursery pot. Literally the exact plant type from the sign. And we’re talking bone-dry, crispy-tips, soil-comes-out-in-one-brick level. I don’t think there’s any dracaena that wants to be that dry for 20 days, especially one that likes humidity (I should add that it has its own humidifier that’s on a daily timer). I also asked around last time I was at the nursery, and they said 10-14 days. I’ve been taking moisture readings daily and in its current location, the soil from the nursery dries completely in 6 days. I am having similar results with my other plants, as well, but most of them are desert plants who aren’t as dramatic about moisture as the dracaena is. If I missed something, please let me know. Again, it’s an awesome app and I have no doubt it works perfectly for the majority of people. If I had 50 bucks to just mess around with pro, maybe it would work better. The free version’s recommendations just aren’t gonna work for me..Version: 2.0.2

Do Not Download.App was completely useless. Everything has to be paid for, total scam, not a free app. Don’t download unless you’re ready to pay 50 dollars a year..Version: 3.37.1

No solutionsThis app is ok for telling you when to water and wants updated but when your plant is doing poorly it doesn’t give any solutions or reasons why it looks as it does unless you pay and upgrade presumably..Version: 3.24.1
