TfL Go: Live Tube, Bus & Rail for Negative User Reviews

Missing key infoThe app looks great and is easy to use but it’s missing vital information - times! You can set when you want to leave or arrive but then it only gives you that single detail. For example, I set an arrival time but it doesn’t tell me when I need to leave in order to arrive at that time. It would be helpful to see this on the overview results rather than having to click into them all. An option to see earlier/later times would also be handy to quickly review new results without having to go back and change the details. Fingers crossed it’s in it’s early stages and improvements come soon as it has the potential to be one of the best..Version: 1.9.0

Looks nice but unreliableHaving used the app for a labour a year I’ve often found flaws in its recommendations / routes and incorrect times quoted. This may be as it isn’t yet properly synced with the new Elizabeth line which would be a shame if someone missed this. It’s fairly easy to use but I do not use often as find I usually have to check on the website for a more accurate journey route and time estimation. Other suggested improvements would be platform numbers / zones and estimated fares but accuracy of data is priority!.Version: 1.40.0

Pointless widgetsThe app is simple and slick but the widgets are completely pointless. Nobody can get me to believe that anyone realistically wants a status widget for the entire line on their phone. For people that make the same journey every single day having a departures widget that can tell you exactly when the next train is leaving form a particular station would be the most useful. It’s already there and designed in your app but it just needs to be made available as a widget so we can have it on our lock screens!.Version: 1.32.1

Looks lovely but the data is wrongThis new app produces a lovely looking map of London’s complex underground system and is fairly easy to use, but unfortunately you can’t rely on it to tell you the truth! For example, the TfL rail service from Paddington to Heathrow (the Elizabeth Line by another name) terminates at Terminal 5 and also serves Terminal 2 & 3, but the map shows it terminating at Terminal 4 with no service as the station and indeed the whole Terminal is closed. It shows no service to Terminal 5. An even worse example is that the Piccadilly Line is currently not stopping at South Kensington whilst all the escalators that allow you to get to the platforms are replaced. The map shows a connecting service at South Kensington and even gives the time until the next train at each of the two Piccadilly platforms, but since you a) can’t get to the platforms and b) couldn’t get on the non-stopping train, this is completely bogus information. A live, interactive map that doesn’t cope with planned service changes is not really a lot of use. Hopefully TfL will work out what has gone wrong and fix it soon, preferably before the Elizabeth Line opens 😕.Version: 1.13.1

Directions option never worksOver the last few days have required directions to different locations. Every time I try I get the message No Routes Found - please try again later. I just entered route of Tottenham Hale to Victoria by any mode, simplest I would think is straight through on the Victoria Line, and got the same message! Is next to useless, may as well just stick to the downloaded map which has the plus of showing the zones. Update - was at Bond Street wanting to get to Tottenham Hale and High Holborn to Green Park both of which stated no routes found..Version: 1.43.0

Useless for planningWon’t let me plan bus journey, keeps switching to tube, which is on strike..Version: 1.26.5

Very disappointingThe Paris transport app is far superior. There is no bus map. Rather one has to do to and fro with time. This does not help planning if one wants to plan in advance. Often obvious routes are omitted when selecting routes. There is no easy way to go from one screen to the next. One has to close out and start over. Find a print map instead..Version: 1.30.6

No, ‘best carriage to board’ informationI had a perfectly good tube app that is no longer usable with the latest iOS update so I thought I’d download this TfL app because you’d know what you were doing. I’m a Londoner and I’ve been using the Tube for 60 years but there are still some journeys that I haven’t made before, with as many as three connections and an exit at the end. Given that I have difficulty walking, what I want from a Tube Map app/journey planner is the ability to know where what carriage to get on so that I have to do the least walking at the connections or when I exit the train. Honestly, my mind is completely boggled that this information isn’t included. Why do I have to purchase a third-party app in order to have this information. Is it because, if passengers had this information there would be too much crowding in those carriages or on the platform? Either way, I guess I’ll just have to resort to another app. A pity..Version: 1.17.0

Confusing routesI downloaded this while the Strikes have been on because the routes suggested by Apple Maps seemed a bit mad. But this has just been giving just as complicated; if not more complicated routes. It also suggested getting on a bus that wasn’t part of TfL and that just wasn’t helpful at all. You’d have thought if any app had the best routes figured out, it’d be TfL’s own. It’s also baffling that routes suggested via the app and via the website are different too. I think I’ll just put up with the mad routes apple maps have been suggested during these strikes..Version: 1.27.0

Update the strike timetable timesIf the unions are going to keep going it strikes to blackmail the pollies for a pay rise, the least you can do is show relevant up to date info of the available trains on the reduced services. If trains are once every hour, the app should reflect that. The number of times I’ve looked on the official app and it says trains is available in 8mins with a disclaimed it’s running on a reduced timetable and I rock up and the next train is in 2 hr or worse, the station is completely closed. Don’t keep the normal timetable and just add a warning. If I look at the official app and the station is closed, it should say CLOSED. Not train in 8mins. Do the TFL developers fit in the same category as the union drivers? Are they on strike as well?.Version: 1.34.0

Using the AppGetting correct information from this app is hit and miss. It really is most erratic. Todays directions for getting to Paddington from Langley Berks is walk to Iver station, catch the train to Slough the get on the train from Maidenhead to Paddington. Previously we asked for the next train on a Sunday to Woolwich, the app used the mon to Sat table and not the Sunday services. There are two things TFL need to dump, Oyster card and this this App. One should be able to use a nominated debit card that contains Railcard details and operates universally. A debit card does already operate effectively but will not be dumped as the Major of London gets interest payments on the stored money. Also and inefficient TFL system allows for travellers to be overcharged. Bit like the new racket of charging so called polluting cars throughout London?.Version: 1.36.1

Somewhat Distant from RealityI installed this app last week after having issues with the accuracy of train information from an app I have previously been using. The biggest problem is that the live information isn’t updated when necessary because TFL seem to think it’s okay to change train destinations/cancel trains without warning or reason - we got stuck in Central London when all the Watford trains in the evening were suddenly marked as ‘not in service’ whilst we were sat at the platform despite the Live Info on the app stating the trains are still running. Please sort this out.Version: 1.26.2

Okay, but limited for bussesCan’t see where a bus goes in the map, so if you are going somewhere new you can’t see the route and work out which busses get you where you need to go! Also, can’t scroll on the map to see other bus stops. So you can only see stops near to where you are, and not where you are going. Consequently I have to look at the app, then go to the website to find the extra data I need. Ideally the app is here to make this very fast and quick to do..Version: 1.32.1

Not user friendly or accurate.I live in the East Midlands and rarely make it to London. I relied heavily on the app. However it never automatically refreshed itself to keep up to where you were so never altered your routes. My daughter who was with us started using her Apple map which was far more accurate and gave us better routes to take. I had been to London various times before but relied on tube maps to plan my trip which seemed to work far better. I not likely will use it again without any improvements..Version: 1.19.1

Still A Way To GoI agree with KMGooner “It has a lot of holes in it -esp the arrival times”. There are no intermediary times to see if you’re running late & therefore miss you next connection. There are no departing platform numbers. If you miss a departure time, because the map doesn’t show which stop or exit from a multi-exit train station (most are) then you must manually refresh. It’s recommended a particular route but l’ve then found a significant part of it cancelled so one then has to re-programme source (and possibly destination) to plan alternative (almost) parallel route. I’m used to the Trainline app and that is so brilliant. Of course this is necessarily an ambitious app but so is TL. Sadly this is only half way there and drops you when you need it..Version: 1.35.0

Not badWouldn’t be my first choice for navigation (Citymapper is just too good at this point) BUT being able to filter down to TfL only modes (everything that’s not National Rail) is a killer feature for me. Very niche use-case but this allows to me to see the more complicated/slower routes I can travel on for free with my TfL Staff Pass - Citymapper would ignore these routes completely and the filters on Google Maps aren’t specific enough. Otherwise app is pretty standard although it does look lovely..Version: 1.21.0

Nice idea but not greatIt’s hard to get info about where you’re going when you’re not there. Most info is related to your current location, which is unhelpful after you’ve figured out the first bus to get and want to plan the next step, or help out a family member who is on the move. Also there are bus stops missing. For example, the westbound Ashford War Memorial Tw15. I did report this and after a long wait got a message saying it’s been fixed (months ago, and it still hasn’t by the way, I was there this last weekend). Every journey matters, but every bus stop doesn’t apparently. It corks be a great app but it’s a long way off reaching that..Version: 1.34.0

UselessDespite setting it for Tube Only it only gives me a bicycle route..Version: 1.43.0

This app will cause you to miss appointmentsIn London, this app shows lines that are disrupted (happens often) as if they were working normally. Check tfl.gov.uk instead. There should be an option to give this app negative stars. Worse than useless..Version: 1.9.1

Fares? As a visitor to London I’d sure like to know the fare for any journey. You’ll say “but there are so many options.” Exactly! Ask a visitor what kind of payment he or she uses and then calculate..Version: 1.13.1

Provide a symbol table on the app to assist interpretationIf you could provide a symbol table to assist with the interpretation of the map in the app, this would be helpful. Also, finding it hard to interpret the suggested route..Version: 1.50.0

Not recommendedThe journey plans are really bad. Other journey planner apps are way better than this. Only thing in this app have advantage is it’s official tfl app. Otherwise just another space wasting app. Buses are always late, like aren’t the strike days over?? And the maps are unreadable because it’s not accurate at all. Like can’t it at least be accurate? Maps given in the tubes are also same. Not accurate at all. Specially stations are in the wrong places on the map. Update: (Stations on the south and north side of Thames is not really accurate. Does the person who made the map really know where the putney station is?? I got confused because station map was inaccurate. At least the locations of the stations should be accurate, isn’t it? Idk ab south side of the London. But most of the north side stations are in the wrong place on the map. Like at least be accurate ab the location. On the map some stations look close and you could walk to the other station but you can’t😩. And some station looks really far away on the map but they are pretty close to each other. Like it doesn’t make sense. Or is the person who made the map evil or smthing??).Version: 1.47.0

Worthless for touristsI’ve been coming to London sine 1979 and this app is terrible. You put maps on the walking and bike pages but not the bus page. How do we find the @#$*$##(& bus stop. You must hate your riders. Tourist.Version: 1.27.0

Very limitedCould use more offline functionality. More functionality from the website. Hard to see the advantage of this versus Google or Apple Maps..Version: 1.14.0

Useless.Whoever designed this app has clearly never needed to plan a journey ‘on the fly’. First time in central london in a long while this evening and I saw this advertised on electronic billboards at Piccadilly Tube station, so I downloaded it. On my way back, using the train to get to my station, I wanted to find out how long I’d have to wait for my bus there. But I looked, as I’ve done with many other similar apps, at least one train station ahead, so I could PLAN. But no! All I can see are the bus stops nearby. No use when I am trying to plan. Even if this is an MVP, it’s pretty poor. Deleted..Version: 1.13.1

List?Where is the list by name to match the colors.?.Version: 1.42.0

Terrible AppThis is a terrible app. It’s a 1000 times easier just using the web version on the iPhone. Don’t bother..Version: 1.26.3

Adequate, not as good as it could beI wish there were a public transport only option. It’s silly to start with cycling as the default preferred means of transport. I don’t live in London and, even if I did, suicide under the wheels of a lorry wouldn’t be my choice of death. I’d be a fool to arrive in London and get straight on a hired bike. The TFL website used to give a useful choice of routes and now, with the emphasis on walking or cycling, most options are useless for me. It was lucky I recently went with someone who used to live in London and knew the underground, as the only tube option given meant a 15 minute walk rather than a change of line (only one more stop overall) and then a 5 minute one. I don’t find this app any improvement on the website, which isn’t as good as it used to be..Version: 1.40.0

Not good enoughI have been using the TFL website and other apps to be aware of any issues on the underground. This app doesn’t have the functions required such as having a live map of the current track closures which occur most weekends. The TFL site does. The app does not tell me when my next train is to my destination. It gives the the next train time but doesn’t tell me where it goes . Il need to be at the station to find that out. If the station doesn’t provide this information I wouldn’t know and the app won’t help. I download this app today and already not a fan. It doesn’t do the simple things it needs to do. Some live train times on the app are wrong too..Version: 1.8.0

What's missing? Two things about the bus routes that have made me quickly dismiss this in favour of Google maps and Citymapper. First, it's not obvious that your starting point can be somewhere other than the default 'current location'. Secondly, no route map. You have to assume the bus stops somewhere fairly near your destination but there seems no way of telling where exactly. Google and CityMapper are way better..Version: 1.41.0

Terribly annoyingThis app had so much potential but it’s actually quite bad especially compared to the other tube map apps. Not all stations are visible on the map unless you search for it but then makes the map pretty much pointless. It doesn’t show the actual map the way it is on the tfl website and you would assume it’s going to be the same but on an app. And the tube directions data is wrong. Every time I search for a journey it’s gives me longest route possible with no other options. This is suppose to be better than the other tube map apps because it’s an official app but this is truly terrible. You would think a functioning app would not be so difficult considering the amount of money they make off of public use..Version: 1.27.0

Better apps available…Need improvement if it wishes to compete with other apps. For example, it has no start and arrival time functionality. Google maps provides a much better understanding of your travel time. Secondly, bus info is rather sparse. The app only shows how long until your bus arrives. Other available apps show more then this, such as where you bus is now in real time, the registration number of the bus (useful in case of problems) and how long until it arrives. Until this has all been incorporated into this app, I’ve deleted it for now as it still requires work before it can be possibly deemed as useful for a busy London traveller..Version: 1.17.0

Dear TfLWe appreciate all the work you’ve done in developing these apps, but for an official app, it is lacking some of the basic information needed to travel such as ZONES ON THE TUBE MAP. I’ve been using the ‘TubeMaps’ app for years and this function has been there since day one. All it takes is to look at the competition, and as a official provider, TfL should have access to all the information third party developers do. I really wanted to give this app a shot (only had it 2 days) but honestly it’s pointless and hasn’t helped me in any way. I will be sticking to what I know until further notice/changes are implemented. Also, how do you guys not have a Rail Map or a (when it returns) Night Tube Map native in the app??? How does google have more information that TfL itself? That’s quite shocking. Anybody else reading this, get TubeMaps, brilliant app that..Version: 1.7.1

Unusable NowOur devices not new enough to upgrade to iOS 14. Please remove the constraint to allow us to choose using the app in standard old way..Version: 1.35.0

Why not put the disruptions in the plan my journey? When you plan a journey, it shows trains are running. But then hidden away as the last info item in the disruptions, it says trains aren’t running . Kinda defeats the purpose doesn’t it?.Version: 1.33.1

Good Map - but where is the key?Appreciate some people want more from the app such as real time information etc, but I just wanted something that would show me the underground map without having to save PDF’s separately or go to other apps filled with adverts. In that respect it does the job. However, where is the key/legend to all of the lines? It might be ok for people who live in London, but if you want people outside to use it as well then surely this should be a basic thing?.Version: 1.26.5

Simplistic appIt’s a simplistic app based on the iconic tube map. I trialed the app to get more information on disruptions to services. It still lacks information and quite frankly you will still be caught out. The app doesn’t add anything new over Citymapper and Google Maps. You won’t be able to use it underground unless you pay for WiFi. It doesn’t work so well on low connection either for those stations were you have a couple of bars. I can understand why TfL would like an interactive timetable but I would question their priorities investing in this over much needed station upgrades (like mobile data)..Version: 1.30.1

Platform numbers would be helpful when using the planner partThe end user still does not have the information given about what platform number the train is departing from. For example. I planned a journey from Paddington to heathrow at 04:42 it says walk to platform london Paddington. For me it's clear it's the national rail station for otherswho are foreign will not see any difference. I know first westbound services depart from the main line station and elizabeth line ststion at Paddington does not open till 0528hrs. It would be helpful if you could PLEASE put the platform numbers as when it is available. This will help a lot of people who are using the app know which platform to go to. Another example I can show is if someone was to go to Gatwick Airport from paddington it just says go to platform. I really needs to tell the user at Paddington use elizabeth line train from platform A to Farringdon from Farringdon go to platform 3. TFL really needs to acknowledge this because it's frtrsting for me to tell you guys the basics the app needs to have..Version: 1.38.0
