Eufy Security for Negative User Reviews

Ring floodlight MUCH better than eufyOne year ago I installed a Eufy Floodlight Cam at the back of my house. At the same time I put a Ring floodlight cam at the front of my house. The eufy was great at first; great video quality + zero subscription fee although the Ring was performing very well. 6 months later the efuy started to give errors: 1. when trying to view live video I get “unable to view live video” 2. When trying to view recorded events I get “failed to load video clips please pull down to refresh” Randomly the camera will begin to deliver video events that are recorded and allow live view as well. There is no rhyme or reason why it works some time but not others. I’ve checked everything - connection is solid, software is up to date. The only conclusion I can make is that eufy is garbage. Meanwhile I have NEVER had an issue with my ring floodlight. Never. At my other house I have Blink and that is also going strong 1.5 years after installation. Guess what can I’ll be buying this Black Friday? Hint: it won’t be an eufy..Version: 4.7.61

Great (when it works)We use the doorbell, along with 2 cameras with motion sensor lights for the garden. When everything works, it’s great - really good piece of kit. But, if a light comes on or you’re notified of someone at the doorbell, when you click on the live stream it only really tends to work 3/4 times in 10. This is particularly frustrating when you can’t make it to the door and the system won’t allow you to look at who’s there or communicate with them. The same applies to when the light is turned on in the garden, you more than likely won’t be able to view the stream as after 20 seconds of loading it says unable to play. As you can imagine This is more than frustrating when you have alerts/indication of something this time sensitive and you’re at the mercy of a system that doesn’t work more than it does. That being said, when it does work it’s brilliant! (iPhone 12).Version: 4.4.9

Good cameras, mediocre softwareBought the camera four pack with homemade. I like the easy installation and the camera quality is good. What really let’s the system down is the software. As many people have mentioned, the geofencing does not work unless manually triggered by opening the app and refreshing the feeds. People have been complaining for over a year which seems totally ridiculous that they can’t fix this yet. It would also be good to have some IFTTT support. For example, when detected as home, switch from Away mode to Schedule mode, or turn off certain cameras. Better google Home support would be great too. Currently only works with Google hub with video screen - ie hey google show me X camera. I’d just like to be able to turn cameras on and off via voice control and Google nest mini. Seems like a missed opportunity for all the google owners that down have the hub video screen..Version: 4.6.5

Buggy and has full-screen adsI use this with the wired video doorbell. The latest update has made the existing issues even worse. As it stands, this is not fit for purpose. Negatives: 1 - keeps mistaking lamps and car wheels as humans (and sends thumbnails). 2 - keeps mis-reporting general wind blowing on trees as “human”. 3 - frequently misses real human motion events like the milkman, especially if there’s little noise involved. 4 - seems to ignore motion zones and will report on events in the excluded area (for example, I excluded the lamp post from the motion zone, but I got notifications on it with a thumbnail). 5 - sometimes ignores the rule I set to ONLY notify me on doorbell presses and will send me motion notifications of the lamp post. 6 - also occasionally ignores the “high efficiency” preset to send me the notification immediately instead of trying to grab a thumbnail first. 7 - occasionally displays full-screen ads on the app when you’re trying to use it. This is highly inappropriate for a security focused app where our speed to responding to events is important. Why would I want to stop and check out your sale items when I’m trying to check who’s at my door!!! Positives: 1 - doorbell notifications are quick and so is live-streaming..Version: 2.3.0

Frequently freezes and requires a phone reset to exit the appThe cameras are really top notch, but the app freezes often and requires a long-power button reset to exit the app. This happens very often - around 50% of the time, most frequently when changing from portrait to landscape view, but also sometimes immediately upon opening the app. Also, in terms of functionality, there should be a way to change security modes (e.g., home or away) for all camera simultaneously with a single button. Currently you have to do this for every camera separately, which is a stupefying oversight. Furthermore, the “always-on geofencing” option for switching modes is an unacceptable privacy intrusion and should be replaced with a local bluetooth proximity switch. Common sense stuff. Finally, why is there no option for viewing all cameras live feed at the same time?.Version: 4.4.9

Settings can't be saved anymoreSince updated to new version, change of settings no longer could be saved, always pop up "unable to connect homebase" after click save button. Also, playing the record becomes Very slow with showing "decrypting from local drive"..Version: 4.5.5

UpdatesI should be able to decide when to update, if I get a notification I should be able to see what’s going on on front of the camera immediately and not forced to do an update first , this a security device.Version: 4.5.2

Works well - too much advertising!I have felt inclined to write this review after the latest update to the app which features yet more advertising for eufy products. This app is essential to use the product that I bought and paid for, and whilst I would expect to see the occasional small advert for the brand, we now get a full screen advert for the ‘edge security’ system when launching the app. Function first please! I am happy with the system I use and it works fine, and I will only replace it when it breaks and stops working. Constant advertising for the new version is a poor user experience, especially in an app that is essential to use the product and where ads cannot be opted out of.Version: 4.4.4

Overall pretty goodI have a EUFY 2k wired doorbell. Overall I am happy with the doorbell and the app. But some simple improvements could make it a lot better: • 30 Second Pre-Record Buffer - so that when movement is detected, the 30 seconds prior to that are recorded - this could easily be possible on the wired version as it’s hard wired and battery life is not a concern. The reason I have suggested this is that in a lot of my recordings, the person has already reached the front door before the recording starts… • More settings then just play/pause when watching a video clip. Eg, playback in quarter/half speed, x2. Ability to zoom in. Next frame/previous frame. • Custom shape exclusion zones. For example - trees are not square? But their movement always sets my camera off when it’s a little windy. And I don’t want to have to block out more of the activity zone then required. Thank you..Version: 4.5.5

Urgent Enhancements Required for the App's PerformanceFor three years, I've relied on the Smart door lock from Eufy. I'm considering adding a doorbell and Floodlight Camera for my home, but the underperforming app is holding me back. While I appreciate Eufy's products, the persistent issue with the app has made it difficult for me to expand my device collection. The app frequently disconnects from the Wi-Fi or the devices autonomously, requiring me to manually reconnect my smartphone to the app for it to function properly. Despite setting notifications for door lock and unlock events, I often miss them due to this issue, which persists even after repeated attempts on different smartphones. The reliability of the app is crucial, as it serves as the control center for our Eufy devices. Without a functioning app, the appeal of smart products diminishes significantly. I strongly urge the developers to address these issues promptly, as it may negatively impact the business if left unattended. I hope my feedback will be taken seriously to enhance the app's performance. - Thank you..Version: 4.7.80

AdvertisementsFor some reason, Eufy decided to include pop up ads whenever I open the application. The ideal time to sell me something is not when I decide to check my doorbell..Version: 4.2.0

Looks good when it worksWhen I first bought this product I had 3 cameras working off the app no problems and was extremely pleased. It has progressively got worse over time to the point where I struggle to replay even 1 camera’s video footage. Base station continually drops offline even though my home WiFi is extremely strong in the position it’s been placed (40+ Mbs) The 2 cameras I have working intermittently are both within 3-4 meters of the base station with 1 external wall only blocking line of sight. So this should not be the issue either. Firmware and everything is up to date. When the system works, video footage is quite good and you have multiple ways of setting up the cameras remotely to get the video footage you’re after. Not really sure how Eufy are going to fix this but cameras working off your home WiFi as opposed to the Base Station WiFi would be a good start..Version: 4.2.7

Could be betterThe bell itself and the camera are good well made products. The app doesn’t work as specified anymore- it started off well earlier this year. The only security mode I use which has motion detection off but should record on ring doesn’t function fully anymore. I have reported it but have not had a favourable response. Now you get an alert and it shows the number of alerts on the icon but no actual events are recorded. The other gripe I have with it is that the app doesn’t provide many hooks for home automation via HomeKit . Eg you cannot turn on camera or change security mode or record voice or anything much via HomeKit . The streaming mode changes in response to location , that’s it. I’m disappointed overall..Version: 3.4.1

Latest updateThe latest update may have fixed some bugs, but it created different problems. For example, I have about a 50% success rate connecting to the base unit whereas previous version was rare. I would like to revert to the previous version..Version: 4.5.8

App leaks memoryWhen viewing for extended periods of time (I sometimes leave it on while I’m working or expecting somebody), it accumulates space on my device despite having record while live viewing set to off. It fills up my iPad entirely forcing me to delete and redos load the app to free space. Been happening for some time now..Version: 4.2.1

Beware Geofencing Does Not WorkThe geofencing option is a great thought as it automatically switches security devices on and off based on your location. Unfortunately this for not work unless you open the app, which kinda defeats the point of it. Just have contacted eufy customer services and they informed me it’s beta functionality only and so has know bugs should be fixed at some point. I see this same issue is present on the eufy community forums for the last 9 months or more so it doesn’t look like an issue they will resolve quickly if at all. Made me loose faith in the company and the brand overall. Disappointing 2 stars could be so much better!.Version: 3.5.2

Every update makes it worseWhen I bought the system ages ago worked well no problems but now every update it just keeps having glitches, keeps saying memory card full even if its only 2% full, wont pick up motions, update taking 12plus hours to do, so cant even see whats happing on cameras, wont record, have to reset the modem every day just so i can get a couple of hours of use out of it b4 it has its glitches Need these camreas to watch over the rescue animals and cant do it so if anything happens its on you eufy, spend thousands on the system, any recommendations on other systems let me know please.Version: 4.5.5

Recent update removed functionalityUntil recently you could tell how many alerts/detections a device had registered by that number being displayed in a small square box for each device on the “My devices” screen. The box is still there, showing zero for no alerts, but as soon at there are alerts the number now disappears in favour of a new icon that I presume is meant to respond a log. It tells you nothing. You now have to click on that icon to see the number of detections. Not sure how anyone thought this was a good idea..Version: 4.5.4

Offline notificationAny chance you can develop and alert when cameras go offline? Right now I physically have to go into camera, it cycles then indicates the camera is offline. Thanks.Version: 4.6.5

HomeKit Secure Video with iCloud+Updated January 2022: Your app is not telling the truth when it says “HomeKit currently supports up to 4 cameras at the same time.” Apple announced at WWDC in June 2021—and delivered in September 2021—that iCloud users with the 2TB iCloud Drive or Apple One subscriptions can have unlimited HomeKit Secure Video cameras. You’ve had more than half a year to prepare for this. Please update your equipment. Original review: The app and cameras are fine—apart from not working at all when their servers are down. But, they don’t support more than five cameras in HomeKit Secure Video. Apple removed this restriction for certain paid subscriptions to iCloud+. This was announced at WWDC in June 2021, and went live in September when iOS 15 was released. I contacted Eufy/Anker support, and they had **no idea** what I was talking about. Our family has seven Eufy cameras, but can’t use them all in HomeKit until Eufy supports it. Please fix this..Version: 3.5.2

Smart lockThe schedule function only has the capacity to program a lock and unlock time, you can’t set only one part of that function. So if I forget to turn the schedule off then my door will be unlocking itself while I’m away. It would be better for my use if the schedule was able to just lock the door at night and I’ll unlock it manually when I feel like it. Then I don’t need to worry about remembering to change it. That seems like a simple change to the app. Maybe less of a problem with locks connected to wifi as you can change that setting remotely. Why is 3 minutes the limit on the auto lock timer? Not app related, but the lock supposedly can detect when the door is closed…. It definitely can’t, and locks itself when the door isn’t closed. A little disappointed by the whole thing. The packaging, instructions and quality seem great so far. And I’ve sent at least 6 emails to the company over the last two months and haven’t had any emails returned. In Australia..Version: 3.5.0

Getting better! Hardwired needs to send to homebase thoughEufy Security crashes every second video or so. This more than doubles the time it should take to simply download security videos. Additionally, all the videos from today, February 29, are labeled February 28! I guess these coders weren’t around for Y2K!! LOL FAIL. This concerns me, for what other bugs lurk in there hiding and waiting to bite us? I think it’s gotten better with one of the secret background updates. Now, if Anker could just figure out how to make a battery pack that will deliver power AUTOMATICALLY, when it’s needed, rather than only when you first plug your device in and then shutting down, these remote cameras could last for more than a couple of weeks. Now they just need to combine the hardwired with the battery powered, to deliver three-second pre-roll, 24/7 video recording, REMOTE recording to the homebase (so when someone grabs your doorbell camera and leaves with all your packages and the doorbell camera, at least you have the recording on the homebase inside!).Version: 1.7.0

Horrible hardwareFloodlight cam stops working just after one year. Nothing the company can do. Spent $200 and end up in garbage after a year..Version: 4.6.0

Things are getting worseEufy really has bitten off more than they can chew. Support didn’t take calls. I wait An hour for live chat only to be disconnected. And my cameras that I spent about $500 on with solar panels just don’t record or detect motion anymore. It’s crazy how they blame all the HomeKit issues on apple when they are the ones that dont support two way audio in home and don’t support more than 4 cams at once in home. The cams have to be reset almost daily to function at this point and it’s a bummer because In times of danger or concerns when I thought I could count on the cams they’ve been useless. At this point they are just for show and live streaming because they will detect anything for you on their own to alert. If you see 3.8.4 for your firmware version then you own garbage. I’ve reached so many times about these issues and instead of resolving them they just keep Launching new crap and ignoring concerns! At this point I just want a refund so I can buy another company cam that will actually care about my experience..Version: 3.4.1

Latest App Update Rendered System UselessHad the Homebase 2 and 2C cameras for a few years and apart from a few glitches it’s been great. Since the app update on 24 January 2023 I may as well not have a security system. I cannot view events, just presents a blank page and ‘Unable to connect to Homebase’ error. I cannot play the cameras or doorbell, cannot restart the Homebase, basically I cannot do anything in the app. I’m guessing it’s the app as that’s on my iPhone and updates automatically, whereas my iPad doesn’t update automatically and it all works fine on there at the moment. I can’t carry my iPad around in my pocket outside the house though, so not much good to me really. Hopefully eufy will sort asap (roll back to previous app version?).Version: 4.5.5

My 2 year updateGeofencing doesn’t update status I’m home and geofencing won’t switch to home mode, I have to open the app and toggle back and forth for it to stop blasting me with alarm warnings. Same when I leave, I’m gone all day and it still shows home mode. Background refresh is on and location services. It eventually switches but it’s flakey. Terrible excuse for an alarm system. For wireless cameras they are ok for what they do. Talk back is terrible, good luck trying to have a conversation, between the delay in the controls and the terrible audio feedback it’s unusable. With the motion detection at max and the recording efficiency set for the longest video the best you get is a 15-20 second clip of someone leaving. By the time it starts recording you’ve missed all the action and then the clip stops. You get a lot blank shots because it started recording only after someone came and left. I’ve owned this system for a couple years now and cannot recommend it, if you can buy a wired system..Version: 4.5.3

AdsReview: I purchased Eufy's security products to keep my home safe and receive timely alerts for any suspicious activity. However, I am extremely disappointed with their recent decision to misuse these security notifications to promote their Black Friday deals. This is a blatant disregard for the purpose of these alerts and a breach of trust between the company and its customers. Not only is this practice intrusive and annoying, but it also undermines the very purpose of having a security system in the first place. When I receive a notification from Eufy, I expect it to be related to the safety of my home, not an advertisement for a sale. This misuse of notifications could potentially desensitize users to actual security alerts, putting their safety at risk. Eufy needs to recognize the importance of maintaining trust with their customers and prioritize the primary function of their products: security. I strongly urge them to reconsider their marketing tactics and keep security notifications strictly for their intended purpose. Until they rectify this issue, I cannot recommend Eufy's security products to others.Version: 4.7.71

Application causes my phone to crashUnfortunately when previewing a recording the phone decides to crash… Not sure if this being driven by iOS, my14 pro max or the EUFY app. Also could EUFY potentially introduce a feature where we can view multiple cameras? I’ve got another cheaper camera system which can do that and much more…..Version: 4.4.3

June 2021 update crashesThe new App update for iOS for June 2021, rashes after 3 seconds of opening it. This only seems to be happening with the use of Cell data. Multiple users in Australia have reported this but the customer service here still has not replied for a resolution to this problem. DO NOT update your app if you have not done so yet. Previous to the update the App worked very well with Cell Data, I would hold off buying anymore products here in Australia until this has been fixed, as it defeats the purpose of having a security system if you can’t access the cameras when away from your home WiFi. Eufy fix the problem and your customer service.Version: 3.0.0

New UI changed what wasn’t broken but they do listen to feedbackEdit2: more changes for no apparent reason. The app used to allow you to scrub through events on a timeline, but now that’s gone and you instead get a list of events. I don’t get why this was removed and I’m getting annoyed enough with their app development that I’m not going to spend any more money on their cameras. Edit: they have now updated the app to allow you to view all devices in a single view. So kudos to them for listening to feedback! Used to be able to view all my cameras and shared cameras under a single view, but it’s now split between “homes” with seemingly no way to create a unified view..Version: 4.5.8

Save your moneyI’ve spent over £500 on Eufy cameras, solar panels (because the batteries don’t last anywhere near whats stated), 180 and 365 cameras, tbh they’re pretty unreliable. They take a millennium to stream on my 85mbps network, the homebase constantly crashes and now shows no blue light after being just 14 months old, I’ve even sent back 2 cameras because they were faulty (Eufy tried to blame it on the distance from my wireless router in which the furthest camera is about 5m away from my wifi source) most movements aren’t picked up even though it’s optimised! Today the app is constantly stating 401 error and logging me out, save your money and get something more reliable and substantial after all its for our security these things hardly zoom, the picture quality couldn’t identify anything, especially at night. Although it’s an expensive system it’s very cheaply made 🤷🏻‍♂️.Version: 4.5.2

Worst cameras ever boughtHave the dual doorbell camera and flood light camera set up. Have two others but main issue is these two. Notifications do not come through until AFTER someone has already left. Had UPS guy walk up driveway, up the stairs and place package down and didn’t get notification until he was starting to drive away. That has occurred several times. I can NEVER catch anyone unless they stand at my door for longer than two minutes. When a notification comes through on flood light cam and you click on it, it does not take you to a live view. It takes you to the recording. Give me the live view!! It also doesn’t detect anyone until they are a couple feet from camera even though I have sensitivity and every other setting set at the highest. What’s the use if you can’t ever catch activity when it’s happening. Fully regret buying Eufy. Too bad return window is closed. Should have stuck with Lorex..Version: 4.4.1

Not as good as I’d hoped.I bought Eufy cameras to replace my Wyze V1 internal cameras, hoped the audio and image quality was better. The audio is better, the image is slightly better but the app is terrible. I have an iPhone 12 so it’s not a processor issue. The app just locks up when I try to view a camera. Sometimes the audio keeps streaming but the video freezes, sometimes it just goes blank. Every time the phone stops responding. I can’t swipe or click anything. I can’t lock the screen. Sometimes I can’t even reset the phone for over a minute. It makes opening the app a complete lottery. I currently have a camera “updating”, it’s been doing that for 3 days, as I’m away from home I can’t power cycle it. So, the app is unreliable and the cameras are below average. The cameras were a fantastic price to be fair, the only thing that’s stopping me from being completely p****d with my purchases..Version: 4.5.5

App missing a key featureI just purchased the 2c Pro cameras which are excellent and easy to set up. Hopefully they capture the events I bought them for. Time will tell. The app is a let down in one key area. You can select all events for deletion but to download videos you have to select each one individually and download them one by one. This seems like such a basic omission. I’m using the cameras to record the volume of traffic outside my house over a period of time as evidence and there will be multiple instances per day. It will be extremely tedious downloading many videos in this way. It would be such a help if this was considered for a future development. Adding ‘Download all’ would be easy to do..Version: 4.2.6

Not worth itI bought these cameras to record activity when I am not at my home. These cameras are not reliable to do this. All the other positive reviews here may very well not realize how many detections they are missing. I do, and documented all them. I miss several recordings, that I know of, every day! This occurred on two sets of cameras I have owened. I was given a new set due to cameras not charging correctly. Eufy customer service requested my data to look into the issue of missing recordings and never got back to me. It’s been over two months with no response. (Unless you count them requesting me to contact customer service in response to another review I gave) So unless you really want to spend a lot of money just to watch an area live, don’t waste your money. My frustration comes mostly from these cameras not only missing activity in my activity zones on a regular basis, but also recording activity outside my detection zones on a regular basis! The worst of both worlds. Eufy not giving a response most likely because it can’t be fixed. Friend who stated he likes his Eufy cameras says he is also aware he misses detections. Too much money just to watch live footage..Version: 3.3.3

I HATE you take out the yellow motion highlightsI love the previous version which you can clearly visualize the yellow highlights of motion clips within the entire camera recording, this is one of the competitive advantage Eufy surpassed all other competitors, now it is GONE 😭😭😭😭this is so stupid😡😡😡😡, who ever made this decision is a Fool 🤡🤡🤡🤡. PLEASE HAVE IT BACK!!!.Version: 4.5.4

Potential but backwards “updates”This app is ok. That’s about as good as it gets. It’s missing some key features for making it a truly effective security solution. For example you can’t combine geofencing with schedule so you can’t automatically have it set to record over night and while you’re away but not while you’re home during the day, so instead you have to just have it recording all the time which drains the batteries faster. Also the geofencing is buggy, it’s fairly reliable at setting away mode but very unreliable on retuning home, most of the time you have to manually open the app to get it to recognise you’re home, making having a geofencing option completely redundant. Finally there are some questionable changes when updates are released. Like for example the notification when you leave the geofencing area used to tell you that it was now in away mode and then when retuning saying it was in home mode (normally after you opened the app to force it to notice you’re home), with the latest update these notifications just say “arming change” for everything so you don’t know if its changed to armed or home. Obviously you can guess but why make this feature worse by taking away information? All in all it’s not as refined as the arlo app which I also have but then Eufy also doesn’t charge a subscription so I guess you get what you pay for..Version: 2.9.0

Eufy security camI recently purchased the eufy cam 4 pack from the advice of a colleague who talked them up. Firstly during daylight hours the image is pretty well smack on, night time if there’s no outside lighting the cameras are very poor quality for night vision, only thing you can see is when a big flys past the camera. They come with some cool features though like the audible alarm and the microphone to speak through the camera. The worst part for me is though the cameras seem to record voices and wind blowing for a while minute but dnt record when people are actually walking and moving in front of the camera. The whole reason I brought these was for security but they dnt seem to record the serious things only the things that dnt matter. Hopefully you can fix this issue.Version: 1.6.9

Avoid thisI bought the Battery Video doorbell as I seemed to be a great item without the added costs of monthly payments. However it has been nothing but trouble. It only sees you if you are a yard from it despite it being set to the highest sensitivity. Sometimes it doesn’t see you at all even if you are a yard away. The Eufy support is minimal. The so called Live Chat is neither live or a chat. You tell it what is wrong and it offers links to something totally unrelated. You type None of the above and it repeats the useless links. You are stuck. Nobody to chat to and no way of finding an answer to your question. I rung the support number and was told to delete the App and reinstall it. I did. Still useless. I wish I had never purchased this. Yes if someone rings the bell it works fine but I had a bell which cost a 20th of the cost of this. I wanted a security camera. I got sold a pup..Version: 4.2.3

Battery drain a painWhile the app itself is great I have to close the app every time I check the notifications as otherwise my battery life goes down incredibly quickly. It’s a pain to have to do this all the time..Version: 3.4.0

Not a review for the cameras but for the appNot sure why people are reviewing the cameras on the App Store. Did you buy them through here? No, so go leave the review with the retailer and talk about your experience with the app. I’ve got exceptional internet at my home. I can be in the furthest corner of my backyard and still have 3 full bars of wifi. Yet for some reason, when trying to play live video on my phone through the app, it takes an eternity. Same with trying to pan the camera through the app. The lag is noticeable and annoying. But most recently I’m trying to download videos of my dog from the app to my phone, and the app keeps crashing. It just will not download. Please sort this out.Version: 4.8.10

Was 5star but now Terrible since the last update!!!This the 2nd review in 18 months where things were working fine and then the IOS update ruined it and made the system unfit for purpose!! The last update that caused this issue bricked the whole system but thankfully they saw sense and replaced it under warranty (allbeit for a slightly downgraded model though!!) All of a sudden it won’t consistently show me feeds from my cameras, only the events. It just says “preparing to play” for ages! All other devices on my network work 100% spot on and resetting the system, software does nothing! It crashes when I go to delete multiple events as well. I had to wait 30-40 seconds to view a feed from one camera when it would take no more than 5 before the update! Nothing has changed my end! I understand refreshing apps BUT, making simple changes/ functions extra buttons clicks further away seems like your UX team are not moving with the times. I’m not alone in my frustration! See forums, Facebook groups etc etc. it’s a shame as IT WAS a 5star system and cameras before this..Version: 4.0.0

RestrictiveI've recently been installing a bunch of the 24/7 pro kits and this app has been a bit of a let down. It doesn't allow full screen viewing, you have to click the play button a bunch of times to actually start live view (either buggy or bad UI) and unlike the units from Reolink/Nest, you don't see all cameras previewing at the same time or having side-by-side views. You have to go into each camera one at a time. You cannot even use arrow keys to slide through your cameras quickly. This is a very basic app, sadly. We were big supporters of Eufy but now looking like we'll need to go back to Reolink..Version: 4.7.61

New UI is not user friendlyPlease bring back the multi-device view on one screen. I can no longer bulk delete on a specific date. And having to go to different screens to select devices is really annoying. Also the placement of the "No more data" and other info banners hasn't been well thought out. I now have to wait for the banner to disappear before I can actually perform an action...I.e. Select and delete. You need to incorporate user testing before rolling out your changes. Please roll back of possible. User experience now really bad.Version: 4.0.0

Excited at first but DISAPPOINTING overallWe bought Eufy doorbell cameras for 4 different properties. At first, we kept getting false alerts where the cameras would send us alerts and record 1-2 minute video clips because they thought everything from a railing post to a tree was a person. We adjusted the “human recognition” sensitivity settings and this happened much less. This biggest disappointment is several of the devices will simply go offline with no warning or alert. We only discover this when we decide to check the live feed on the property as we have not gotten motion alerts in a while. We confirm there is WiFi at the property but still get told the doorbell is not connected to WiFI. We called Eufy tech support and they told us to try restarting the device from our phone. We try doing this dozens of times but the restart option appears hit or miss, with it only working about 1 out of 20 attempts. The lack of reliability alone makes these virtually useless. Can’t call it a “security camera” if it just goes offline at random, doesn’t notify you that has occurred and there is no surefire way to troubleshoot and get them back online..Version: 4.5.5

Bug issuesLast update has cause bug issues and the latest iOS update has not resolved this. Screen is completely black on all cameras and even for live view. Checked cameras work took them down and worked when in the house but as soon as they are installed they black out again. Nothing else has changed other than the update and I’m incredibly disappointed Prior to this they worked really well although sometimes they mistook leaves on the tree for a person on my door. Support is hard to find so hoping a get a response here otherwise they are going back to the store. They are less than 12 months old and this has really disappointed me.Version: 4.5.3

Can’t recommend because..You can’t set schedule and geofencing. An internet search will show pages of people requesting this from eufy and eufy saying it was coming in 2020 but they still haven’t implemented it. What it means is example - you have cameras, a doorbell, and a motion sensor in your house. You set up geofencing so that when you are home the motion sensor doesn’t trigger everytime you walk round the house. When you leave the house the motion sensor is active so if someone breaks in you’ll get an alert, cameras will all start recording and your Homebase will sound it’s alarm. BUT what if you want to schedule the away mode for when you go to bed at night? WELL YOU CANT! Eufy won’t allow geofencing plus scheduling. It’s a huge issue with eufy and is no way a security system..Version: 4.7.0

Could be much betterRecording is good in daylight, but starts late and a bit jerky at the beginning. With a supposed 10 meter detection distance it should pick up much more than it actually does. Also, during high wind it activates, during sleet, also. Activated by a dog on one occasion. Have our car on the drive and it fails to recognise human activity until it passes the vehicle fully. Another improvement required is the ability to block areas other than rectangular shapes. My perimeter doesn’t sit square, but more at an angle. Therefore, a parallelogram would be better. The app software certainly needs more thought and flexibility to make it a really useful piece of equipment..Version: 4.1.3

Frozen phone and had to restart!I tried to open the app and it frozen my whole phone for over an hour. I couldn’t get off the blue Eufy security page and I couldn’t turn phone off. Had to search on my laptop on how to sort the issue out. Turns out it’s been a year long battle of a bad bug! I’ve only had the indoor cam for 3 days and whilst I must say that the quality is impeccable, the app on the other hand is terrible. It lags quite a lot when trying to view live feed. There’s been a few cases of the app taking ages to load or respond to what I am trying to do. Nothing beats today where my phone froze and I could not access anything at all! Please fix Eufy as I want to love this brand but cannot deal with app bugs!!!.Version: 4.2.7

Fix geofencing checking intervalAll most all other apps I use switch almost instantly when I re-enter “home” region and I don’t even have the apps open on my phone (Apple Home; August; ecobee). However, at your recommendation, I have to leave eufy Security app running all the time and I can still come home and my cameras stay in the Away mode more often than not and I have refresh to trigger the switch in mode to Home. Not only is it slow in changing modes most times but I’ve also verified that Background App Refresh is enabled along with share location as Always. Almost all other apps can trigger geofence without needing the app open and running except yours and this is very frustrating. Also, while you’re at it, how about a feature that can turn cameras off when in Home geofence mode like Apple does in HomeKit. I’m not comfortable with my internal cameras (eufyCam 2C Pro) not being off when I’m home and that I can still use the app to stream my internal cameras when I’m home..Version: 4.6.1

Very slowI get notifications saying someone’s outside my door. i open the the app to see who’s outside. the app NEVER loads. it’s very slow, it can never pull up the videos. as soon as it loads whoever was outside is gone. this is a huge security issue because what’s the point of a camera if i can’t even see what it has recorded. fix it right away.Version: 4.8.10

Total failure of an app/product.I purchased the eufy cam 2c cameras because I was going to be taking a 2 month long trip out of the country and there had been home burglary in my neighborhood recently. For two weeks, everything worked great; I was able to see my house and surrounding area whenever I wanted from overseas. Then suddenly everything disappeared and it said I had no devices connected. So when I got home after nearly two months of having a literally useless security setup, I find that I need to reset the home base and re-add the cameras, which requires climbing all the way up to the roof again to bring the cameras close enough to the home base (read: immediately next to the home base) in order to bring it back online??? This is absolutely absurd. Total waste of money. These cameras and this app have precisely ONE purpose, and it failed miserably. I’m in total disbelief at how stupidly this was designed. So frustrating. Read up on this issue: apparently it’s very common, just google it. Lots of people complaining about this issue with no actual resolution from eufy. If it were just a one off incident I wouldn’t have written a review. Be ware..Version: 2.3.0

Indoor cam 2K Not a nest cam replacementWhy Eufy indoor cam 2K is not a google nest cam replacement. All 6 are being returned, and I am not buying the 7 more I need (12 in total), and staying with google nest even though their home app is complete garbage, and the new gen cams are physically horrible. 1- ability to rearrange cams in the order we want in the app. 2- no live feed for all cams in the app home page, not an old screen shot. 3- an 11-15 camera or unlimited tier for for $5 more a month more, not just 10 cams. 4- wall plug needs cable to attach at bottom of plug, not sticking straight out. 5- continuous cloud recording 24hrs a day. 6- stand is too short and in view of cam when bent over to mount 7- base of stand is too wide, can’t put on window ledge that has blinds 8-cable stick out back of cam instead of the bottom, gets in the way of blinds or anything else, not compact at all. 9- cable is 4’ too short. 10- event playback makes you play the entire clip they want you to watch instead of sliding exactly where you need to go, huge waste of time. Nest cam gen 1 (black) is physically built perfectly, the 1st gen cam actually named nest. The current Nest ios app is perfect as of March 18/2024..Version: 4.8.20

Giant inconvenienceApp is mostly fine unless you need to export videos in bulk from the base storage, can only be done one by one, only in the app and then copied to a separate backup location..Version: 4.6.8

Geofencing is the buggiest non-functioning app I’ve come acrossYou say you have delivered updates and bug fixes!!! How about actually fixing Geofencing instead of wiping it off as unimportant???? You keep sending me emails enticing me to buy additional products … well that isn’t going to be happening until you fix Geofencing!!! I mean, why would anybody keep putting their hard-earned into more products that do not live up to your expectations, let alone the end-user’s?? Or perhaps you would rather disillusioned Eufy customers pitch the hardware and go with Arlo or someone else You keep saying that you are working on Geofencing, but there is never an update for it or any news of when it will be corrected..Version: 3.3.3

Eufy App and Device PerformanceIf you can get Eufy products and homebase to work without getting inundated with ads on your app screen then it’s not bad. The video timing you select is not accurate. I set it to 20 seconds and I get 10, 11, 18, and sometimes 20 second clips. The bad part that I am currently stuck with - I can’t break out of an ad page associated with one of these electronic ads that pops into your app home screen and there is with no way to return to app. Nothing breaks it free - no return arrow - nothing. I am currently stuck. I may need to delete the app and possibly lose anything saved. I would not recommend this system unless you can shut off all of these ads getting shoved in your face. Now I’ll have to shut off notifications to prevent these ads from popping up notifications trying to grab my attention by leading me to think maybe my home door cam is reaching out to me while it’s actually just another ad trying to reach into my pocket. If you can’t shut this garbage off and prevent this sort of thing then don’t waste a dime on it unless you like getting nagged constantly for nothing. I don’t see how to so far and if it comes to it I will just trash the whole system and go back to life without it. Goos luck. Do thorough homework/research before you spend your hard earned money on this money grubbing nuisance..Version: 4.7.72

Not bad, could be betterI’m reasonably happy with my purchase so far of the Eufy camera system. It’s definitely been useful. I am still recommending to friends and family. My only annoyances at this stage are 1) the app only allows adding four security cameras to Apple HomeKit when Apple HomeKit Secure support website clearly states that it supports up to 5 cameras; and 2) Activity Zone setting, at least for doorbell camera, is flaky. Have restricted detection zone down to almost nothing and still get notifications for activity well outside configured zone. Frustrating and disappointing but not a show-stopper..Version: 2.6.0

Advertisement as a Security Notification today.I purchased Eufy's security products to keep my home safe and receive timely alerts for any suspicious activity.

Great Hardware, Software Seriously LackingEufy builds quality cameras and they function well, but the software, specifically the settings for and the actual recordings are terrible. Most of the time I don’t see a car or person enter the frame on playback because it starts recording when the object is halfway through the frame, then keeps recording for 7-10 seconds after the object leaves the frame. Can’t it time shift enough to capture a few seconds before entry through a few seconds after departing? I’ve tried every different setting, including Custom and it’s always the same. HomeKit video is awful too. Most of those clips are a second long if they’re in there at all. You know who’s software does it right? Logitech. Always a recording that starts before the action and runs until the action is over. No choosing how long to make the video - it’s smart enough to know what to do from a few seconds to over a minute of activity..Version: 2.8.2

No more ads!The pop ups and notifications in app for your own ads are awful. I just missed seeing an event on my property because of one of your popups delaying my access to the feed!.Version: 4.2.0

Good system, minor app feature would be betterHappy with purchase. Now can check what’s happening at home when I’m out. Find the doorbell audio a bit hit and miss. Often find it hard to hear what the person is saying as it breaks up. **Would REALLY REALLY like the app developer to add an option for changing the notification sound within the settings of the app. It’s hard to distinguish the security notifications from the hundreds of other notifications from 3rd party apps on iPhone. Apple said only the developer can change this.** PLEASE CONSIDER!.Version: 4.5.3

Do NOT BUY EUFY RIGHT NOWEufy used to be awesome. However, their latest update has endangered my family. Motion detection is unreliable - CLEAR motion is left undetected but sometimes cameras go off for literally no reason and record like crazy. Lights randomly turn on and off with no events apparently recorded. The ‘decrypting local storage’ message has appeared abs now I can never view events because it literally takes FIVE MINUTES TO ‘DECRYPT’. Cameras randomly go offline. Thumbnails aren’t updated. Notifications aren’t reliable when the cameras finally DO detect motion. Overall, I am absolutely livid that I placed my trust in Eufy. My family’s safety is paramount and after investing the time and over $2k in this setup, I am left with unreliable software and hardware. I don’t know what the development team is doing but they CLEARLY need to either hire a QA department or hire better QA because clearly the dev team is unreliable and enjoys placing people in situations where they could be harmed because their products are a failure..Version: 4.5.5

Works pretty well except for a few annoynacesThis app works great on Mac! But there's a few things that quickly kock off stars: 1) App (video playback) can't get larger than about 1/4 the size of my Macbook screen. It's even worse on my external display. 2) The app CONSTANTLY asks to connect to data from other apps. Whetehr you allow or reject, it will ask again at multiple random intervals throughout the day..Version: 4.7.5

Unreliable for automatic armingDespite it being an advertised feature of the system, the geofencing is still only in “beta” testing after 2+ years. As a result, it doesn’t work reliably. Despite the Eufy app having full location access and background refresh enabled (with subsequent battery drain) • system doesn’t arm automatically when all users have left the zone (users must open app and refresh the system feed) • system doesn’t disarm automatically when a user returns home (user must wait outside camera detection zones, open app and refresh system feed; having the app open does not improve performance) • system is known to unexpectedly arm itself despite users being at home, resulting in false alarms • system does not always silence alarm when acknowledging that the system is alerting; there is no easy to access “false alarm” button • when checking an alarm alert, the system may silence the alarm before the user has identified if it is a legitimate security threat or a false alarm.Version: 4.5.4

Constantly decrypting from local storageRecent app versions and firmware updates have made this hit and miss. Reviewing video doesn’t work anymore. It constantly buffers and says decrypting local storage, thanks for the added security but your floodlight seems like it doesn’t have the processing capacity! Please fix, I paid good money for something that should just work!.Version: 4.5.8

Forced UpdateIs Eufy deliberately trying to P**s off their customers? If so, they are doing a bang -up job! Apparently, I’m not allowed to use the device that I paid for unless I update the app. Not a good way to regain trust..Version: 4.5.2

Misuse of security notifications for marketingI purchased Eufy's security products to keep my home safe and receive timely alerts for any suspicious activity. Awful software updatesI have 7 cams which used to be great, last couple of updates have caused so many issues, the biggest being little or no sound on all cams so definitely software issue, numerous emails have been sent over the last couple of months, I’m just told new update is coming. Looking to buy some different make cams, spent a fortune on these products and now feel cheated..Version: 4.6.7

DanielCameras are cool though the software is so hit and miss.. sometimes the app won’t even load live feeds, sometimes the cameras will stop picking up events and you have to hard reset everything. Don’t bother getting them unless you live in a 1 horse town, I have to charge ours every 3-4 weeks just from basic street activity, have it set to humans only and it records every single car that drives past even on its lowest sensitivity. Try doing a privacy spot to ignore cars and it ignores people at the front of the house until they’re just walking out of the frame. Very disappointing and waste of $600 when the software to back up the cameras is terrible to be fair..Version: 4.4.6

App used to be good - now it’s bloatwareWhomever is in the charge of these awful ads should be fired, the app is just all about ads, similar to what you see in AliExpress or Temu if you get those apps for th first time. It’s all bloated now, with much slower performance. Note to the developers, no you don’t need me see the ads, just remove them like everyone else has asked. And I am on an iPhone 15 pro max, so speed shouldn’t be an issue..Version: 4.8.10

Why did you remove the battery percentage? Why have you removed the battery percentage for your Doorbell in this new update? What made you think your clients wouldn't want that information? What's wrong with your developers? Bring that feature back! Sheesh, how pathetic to remove a feature instead of adding new features! This is the second update without correcting this! Fix it!.Version: 4.8.21

Doesn’t live up to its hypeBought the three camera system with one year battery life and unfortunately it doesn’t live up to its own hype. Three months in I am already having to recharge the camera batteries. Worse than this, the cameras will randomly disconnect themselves and require manual intervention to get them back online-not much use when you are out of the country on holiday etc. Additionally, sometimes the cameras pick up movement, other times they don’t. One day I will get 84 alerts, other days 4 or 5. I have to say that overall I am quite disappointed by the whole system. I wouldn’t say don’t buy it but, I would say don’t build up your expectations too highly. It just doesn’t do what it says on the tin…..Version: 3.3.3

Almost perfect appI really like my eufy 2K indoor cam. And I really like the app that controls it. The interface is well thought out and the options are clear and easy to navigate. The image quality is great even while streaming, and the options of storage are plentiful, ranging between cloud, HomeKit, RTSP and SD card. Why 3 stars only? 1. The RTSP implementation is buggy. In my experience setting it is a breeze, but afterward my NAS loses communication with the camera and the only way to make it come back (briefly), is to delete the camera and add it again, from scratch. This is the only camera in my Synology that loses connection. 2. While the app has Geofencing, and it works perfectly, instead of simply shutting down the camera after you return home, the app merely stops recording events, but the camera AI is still tracking you, and, recording or not, it is frankly disconcerting to see the camera follow you around the room even if it’s true that it is not recording. I can tell it to power off manually, but then I have to remember to turn it back on before I leave the ne t day, or it will stay powered down..Version: 2.6.0

Great system, hopeless implementation and supportI was really stoked when I installed my eufy system with 2x Eufycam 2C cameras. The install was easy and the system worked really well. Unfortunately after a short time, I ran into issues with the cameras dropping offline frequently. I contacted eufy support, who sent me canned responses how to troubleshoot. Despite many attempts at different fixes, nothing has worked, and my cameras are still dropping offline all the time. I requested a refund and got sent back into the troubleshooting process! I’ve given up on Eufy support. They just keep saying the same script, and nothing actually happens. Best avoid their products!.Version: 4.2.6

App won’t do 5 Min clips anymore!I loved this app but a FORCED update made it max 2 min clips from 5 minutes and it isn’t showing all the clips on the app. I don’t want encryption either. I formatted the card but it is still doing only 2 min clips so they are cutting off live footage..Version: 4.5.8

A Great System with Some Annoying ProblemsAll in all, we find the Eufy security system pretty great. However, a couple of things really annoy me - The addition of the AI Edge button is frustrating. You're taking up one of the icons at the bottom of the screen just to advertise the new S380 Home Base, which is irrelevant to the operation of my system. Please take this out of the app! I find it really annoying that I still can't set a schedule that arms the system with modes (e.g. Night or sleep) between set times on the condition that the geofencing feature has detected that all connected phones are within the geofencing zone, while the system remains in away mode at all times as long as all connected phones are outside of the geofencing zone..Version: 4.4.4

Full of Unwanted AdsI bought a Eufy doorbell, but the app is full of pop up ads that can’t be disabled. I can’t answer my doorbell until I click through their ads. Very user unfriendly product..Version: 4.2.1

This app went from good to bad to worseAfter the last couple App updates I no longer receive any sensor, camera, or alarm alerts. It appears to log many of the entries but under devices the event badge shows zero events for the day even if the captured photo for the camera shows a recent event. The alarm sensors work intermittently. No alerts, sometimes log, show an incorrect status. I can hold a door open and it doesn't alert, the status shows closed... while browsing back and forth it sometimes decides it's open then goes back to closed while still open. I have 4 Homebase units at different locations and different Internet providers. All are broken. I've restarted everything including the phone. I've triple checked all settings even though I changed none. This system has become completely useless to me but worked great a week ago... prior to the app updates. With zero notifications and incorrect status and logging across all 4 sites what's the point? This is the danger of the cloud. I can't interact with the devices unless their cloud and App are up and working properly..Version: 4.6.7

Approach is Awesome but..The approach of Eufy to security is awesome with a home base allowing you to store events on its Homebase rather than a payment based (SaaS) cloud structure.. The hardware is awesome although massively different battery experience - but generally a reasonable charge duration.. The digital experience is however a little disappointing, with a lack of consideration for simple usability… E.g transfer of a file from the Homebase to email to share with police… or the most annoying limitation when it comes to deleting files 20 max and having to switch days.. it’s like the digital experience is being developed by someone who isn’t actually using the application 🙄.Version: 4.6.4

Garbage Signup ProcessThousand Questions + a garbage password reset process and MFA. Whoever designed this app was not a normal human being.Version: 4.8.20

Good before they updated it!The app used to be good, the only complaint I had was it can’t record events on multiple cameras at the same time so there are gaps in what each camera catches if there’s something going on elsewhere which is frustrating. But since they updated it, the app continuously signs me out. I can sign back in at least three times a day which is super inconvenient when you’re trying to quickly open the app to check a camera and end up having to sign in and wait for that circle of doom to load. This also means you’re not getting notifications of events happening which defeats the point of the security in the first place! And then once you’re on there’s no events to show! Hate whatever they have done to it..Version: 4.5.4

App Updates Brings New IssuesI was really hoping that that the many app updates would iron out some of the many issues. However, with every update comes new issues and sometimes even old issues. Eufy are quite helpful but the same can’t be said for the cameras, if they don’t work as they should then there’s no point in having them. Eufy support is very good I must say, but they need to be because you’ll be contacting them all the time with the many many issues. No number count showing when Motion has been detected, also Motion is is being detected when there is no motions, very disconcerting. What do Eufy do about the problems ? The answer is not a lot bordering on nothing..Version: 4.7.1

Latest update has notifications not displaying correctlyThe latest update has nulled notifications by not providing a thumbnail or indicating, which camera has received a notification trigger warning. Please update this app to fix the bugs and yes, I have tried uninstalling the app changing the settings, signing out, logging out, and everything that has been suggested, and it is not working..Version: 4.8.21

Missing events with 4.5.4For those complaining about missing events it took several days to get a response from eufy support who initially considered it a problem with my app/phone. After providing more information they followed up this removal was intentional by the engineering team and they are considering adding it back but provided no timeline or comment to doing so. This effectively makes these cameras useless. There is a event view mode before you go into playback mode but that only plays event clips. No way to see what happens around each individual event. I was willing to stick with them despite the security issues since I was not using push notifications and only ran their HomeKit cameras in HKSV mode which I think didn’t suffer from the potential data breach. But after they pulled one of the most useful features I’m now looking into other camera solutions. They should have at least noted it in their release notes! Hope this review helps stop someone from investing in their ecosystem..Version: 4.5.4

Good camera but less impressive app and spyware!UPDATE - Eufy is now being taken to task in America for sending biometric data to a certain foreign country without permission. STAY WELL CLEAR until everything is fixed and secure. The 2k Pan-and-Tilt camera is an impressive piece of kit for only £39 and the night vision performance is excellent. The app is not up to that standard. In particular, the app loses sound quality after 30 or so minutes and begins to whistle and distort the sound. Stopping and restarting the camera fed cures the issue for a while but it returns time and time again. Needs a fix. The Eufy app also does not play well with Apple Home. It is not possible to simply give the camera a static IP on the router and then connect to Home; you are required to use the Eufy app. When you do, it does connect but it disables some very useful functions in Home and also the Eufy app as long as the camera permission to Home remains. Disconnecting the camera from Home is not always recognised by the Eufy app and you need to delete the app, reinstall and reconnect the camera to get the functionality back. Last but not least - why do I need a Eufy account to control a camera with an app over a local network connection? Every company seems to want user registration in order to run an app that does not need the Internet or remote connection. Stop it and give us our privacy!.Version: 4.6.1

Mostly Great But... Bad GeofenceWonderful product, except one of the more important features doesn’t work 😔 You can setup a Geofence to change modes when you’re home/away. Which would be great... if it worked. To make it work everyone needs to open their phone and update there location. It’s easier to open one up and change it manually. It would also be good if you could set a Geofence & a Schedule to work together and the ability to set. A specific profile for 2hrs so you don’t forget to switch back. An Apple Watch App would also be good and easier until the Geofence is fixed..Version: 2.1.0

January update has rendered indoor cameras virtually uselessI used to recommend the indoor camera system to friends and family and would ask how they were liking the system whenever I saw them. Now I’m too embarrassed to even mention eufy since the January 2023 update crippled the system. The indoor cameras used to have a playback timeline on which events were highlighted in orange. With hundreds of events per day, it was the only practical way to skip through to find what you’re looking for. It’s still there, but no longer working since the awful January update. You need to know the exact time an event occurred to have any chance of finding it within an average adult’s lifetime! How can this be acceptable in any credible security system? I don’t usually write negative reviews until they’ve had a chance to fix the problem, but it’s been two updates in which they’ve promised to fix this bug, and it’s still a big problem..Version: 4.5.8

Please please pretty pleeeeaseCan you please add a feature into the app where the geofencing also allows you to fully turn off the camera when you’re home. I absolutely love these cameras, specifically the one with the lens that fully turns around when it’s off so you definitely know you’re not being watched. I just thought it would’ve been obvious that this should work with geofencing so that when you have guests in your home, they can see that the cameras are off and don’t get creeped out. Please reply and let me know if this feature is coming soon..Version: 4.4.4

Fine until the updateSuddenly I can’t see any previous events. My SD card is nearly full so I tried to go back to delete a few uneventful recordings but they’ve disappeared? Hopefully it’s just a glitch. Eufy have normally been pretty flawless and imo a much better way to do home security without the need of subscriptions. I just hope they aren't heading this way. Update May 2023: The app continues to go downhill. I can’t even watch the saved videos of the day now. I constantly get “failed to play” or “failed to download”. I can’t even blame that on my wifi as 5G doesn’t make any difference. The live feed doesn’t work on any of the 3 cameras I have which is incredibly stupid. In the event that the doorbell goes whilst I'm out it’s quite handy to use the features I’ve paid for, but nope, “failed to connect”. Due to all of this I will be looking for a new security system as this is unreliable, not what’s needed when trying to protect your home..Version: 4.6.7

Stop showing me ads in the appSeriously I spent hundreds of dollars on your cameras and your app just keeps showing me sales and pop up deals. I just need to check my effing cameras. Please add the ability to disable the ads. It’s makes me not want to recommend your products. Have a store tab… but stop sticking it in my face all the time..Version: 4.7.0

App keeps logging me out every few daysI have 2 factor authentication turned on. Why do you need to do this?.Version: 4.2.1

Eufy color security camerasProduct clarity is very good & notification function is efficient. However, the sensors do not pick up every human movement. This is particularly concerning during the night when someone enters my property. Needless to say, this is the primary reason for buying a security camera system. The product should be better..Version: 4.4.4

The app has degraded! The app has recently degraded significantly. - Even after upgrading my hub the videos take time to load. - tapping on notifications just owns the app without taking you the video if you haven’t authenticated recently - and the dumbest problem, asking for recaptcha when using biometrics to login. Who in their right mind design a flow like that. Soldier is at my door at I’m playing a guessing the character game to use biometrics login 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️.Version: 4.8.00

Easy to use but full of bugs that make it almost uselessBoth the indoor and outdoor cameras are easy to set up and use. But there are a lot of bugs in the software, most annoyingly 1) the geofencing doesn’t work and they can’t fix it yet, so you need to manually change the setting for every camera individually each time you come and go 2) the motion detection can’t accurately differentiate people and animals anymore, so you can’t use motion detection if you have any pets, and they also can’t fix that yet 3) the app frequently freezes while accessing video of a live notification, so if a burglary was in progress you couldn’t actually see or do anything 4) when it is working the app keeps sending notifications even while you’re watching the live feed of the source, so you can’t see the video due to the constant popping up of notifications which get in the way of actually doing anything. It doesn’t seem that there is any real testing of the user experience in the development process.Version: 4.2.5

Better than the main competitorAfter a well known doorbell company decided to double it’s subscription fee again for the second time in two years, I decided enough was enough. I discovered EUFY and dumped my existing doorbell and bought the battery 2K version for under £100 that would’ve been two years subscription with the old doorbell. My only issue is there is a street lamp opposite my house and this prevents my doorbell from going into night mode so no infrared images instead I get very dark colour images and even motion detection stops before 23:00 this could be remedied if the app allowed for manual activation of night mode (infrared) or allowed night mode to activate after a certain time like 21:00 instead your only option is to enable automatic night mode ( which is useless in my case) If manual activation of night mode is added this will get five stars..Version: 4.8.20

Returning doorbell to storePop up adds! The doorbell is going back to store. What a crappy thing for a company to do..Version: 4.6.6

Motion detection issuesIt could have been 5 star review but for some time the playback function doesn’t show motion detected clips. Motion detection used to be in amber colour to differentiate from continuous recording and it was very easy jump to specific time to playback the motion detected clips. Kindly rectify this issue. I have 10 cameras installed at home and office and all have same issue. It doesn’t show motion detected videos in playback anymore. Only way to watch is by going in events and look all events to find specific video. I think about a month ago or may be two it didn’t have this issue. I have rechecked al the settings on all cameras but nothing worked..Version: 4.5.5

In its current state not good!***None of my events throughout the day are even showing up now. Cameras take forever to view live when they use to be fast enough*** PLEASE FIX YOUR APP!! Eufy use to be one of the best out there and have used several of their different cameras for years. They were a step ahead of others and they listened to their customers. However they now seem to be falling behind and appear to have no clue on what’s going on. In its current state it’s no good and can no longer recommend using them. I’m thinking one of the last updates has made it barely usable. Previously the cameras caught two crimes the police were able to use. Now it takes forever to view my cameras live when I need to see something going on. Sometimes it doesn’t even load up. Most the time what I’m trying to see has already come and gone before it allows me to view. This is unacceptable and puts my family at risk!! I own over 8 Eufy cameras have purchased some for family members and recommended to friends. Planned on buying several more as gifts and excited to purchase the new camera releases. I can no longer do so and will not in its current state. Please fix or will be moving to a different platform!.Version: 4.5.8

Geofencing not working even after 1 yearThis app and product are solid on the hardwire side. I have the eufy pro 2 cameras with 2k video. Pictures are clear, night vision is reasonable and battery life is good. However geofencing simply does not work and has never worked. It has been reported many times over the past year with no resolution. If you have one phone you can usually get it to work part of the time. However if I share it with my wife and add her phone it never works. I have 2 other security apps that work like clockwork with geofencing, including with background app refresh, which means the app does not have to be open in the background, just logged in. If you have 2 Phones in geofencing it will never work. All of my well written mobile apps are done so that you do not need to do any manual setting of the app to control it. For my other security apps, when I am away they are armed. When I am home they are either on a Schedule for arm/ disarm or they are disarmed. This should be a basic function of any security app. Not sure why they have never been able to fix it..Version: 3.0.1

Logging in shouldn’t be so hard.. and ads? With $80 cameras?Fix your login screen.Version: 4.8.10

Can’t reset timeThere is nowhere to reset the time. Mine is 6 hours off & I can’t reset the time. Video tutorials are useless. My eufy is up to date so I can’t update the app.Version: 4.8.10

What happened to event count?Don’t like the new update. On the Home Screen I had a count of the number of events that had happened on each camera. Now all I get is a silly icon that doesn’t tell me anything. Worse still? When you’ve cleared the events it returns back to a zero! If it’s not going to count why bother putting a zero in that spot? Also, if you decide to buy any of Eufy’s cameras for their AI detection of humans / pets / other, DON’T BOTHER!!!!! The human detection ‘AI’ (it’s certainly artificial, but definitely not intelligent), is absolutely appalling. The intelligence seems to be based on a flowchart that reads ‘is it round? Yes - it’s human). So, hose reels, plant pots, the moon, anything else that’s round will start alerting you that a human is present. To make it worse, it’s not even intelligent enough to work out that if after 50+ consecutive notifications the thing hasn’t moved an inch it’s unlikely to be human, and just keeps telling you time after time, after time, after time…….. Your only option at that point is to turn detection and notifications off, thus rendering the whole thing pointless. I like Eufy cameras as the quality of the feed is much better than Ring and local storage is more secure, but for the love of god, sort out your exceptionally poor AI, or stop advertising it as a function when it’s not up to the job intended..Version: 4.5.4

Use of app blocked unexpectedlyI’ve used this for a while - it simply worked, then last week it was suddenly impossible to use at all. Access was hard-blocked by a message over the content/controls saying the app had to be updated. This is not a toy or game but access to quite pricey hardware some people may rely on. It isn’t always possible to update apps immediately. The message gave no explanation - it just blocked use. Even if there were a really good reason such as discovery of a major security flaw that the update were issued to fix, the total lack of comment/info on the screen disabling use and the sudden absolute block doesn’t reassure of customer care. Given the nature of the products the app supports e.g. to check people/premises are ok, it’s particularly disappointing that the developer effectively DISABLED it without warning - the effect if the update wasn’t applied, presumably until updated. Posting this review partly as a warning to others as it seems this might happen again at any time. If you want to sure of being able to use the associated products (e.g. to check on pets, elderly loved ones etc.) this might be a concern..Version: 4.5.3

Battery lifeI have had problems since it’s gone up the battery does not last as long as it states, even on the lowest setting I have to charge it twice this year. If someone was to come to my front door or in the back garden it does not record for that length of time to actually see what they are doing. If my sonOr a burglar was to go in the shed it does not record it from start to finish or when he leaves the garden so if it was a burglar you’d have no evidence due to the record time would stop. It does not carrying on for the length of the time the person is in the garden stealing in your equipment. I have called and emailed and had nothing back to find out if this can be resolved in any way..Version: 2.2.2

Good home security systemWe like our eufy system it works great. The only downside is it doesn’t realise when we are home. It would be nice if it didn’t record us every time we went outside. Also having to manually delete videos is a slow process. Other than that it works great!.Version: 4.4.4

Would get 5 stars with just one small additionDear Eufy. I swapped my five camera Arlo system for your cameras because of your superior home kit integration. I’m loving the cameras and the software. It’s all great, apart from one little thing… a thing which thousands of other users have also asked for - an ARM ALL CAMERAS button. For some reason you choose to split cameras into distinct groups so that I have manually arm half my cameras attached to the homebase and then manually arm the others each time I leave (and then reverse the process when I return) 🤦🏻‍♂️ All it would take us an ARM ALL option. One button added to the app. One, small, button… This has been requested again, and again, and again and yet you refuse to add it!? Why? I was hoping that in this update you would finally listen to your customers, but alas no. So it is with some sadness that I’ll start shopping around for another camera supplier who does listen… You could have been great, but once again you just turned out to be a another company who refuses to listen to their customers and prefers to dictate what we want..Version: 4.4.3

3/5 starsPros: Image quality is excellent, night vision is spot on, no monthly fee, doorbell and home hub sold as a package, ‘cloud’ storage is also included, multiple options of how long you want to record for, boundary setting for drive/ yard/ area you wish to record, easy to use app and simple to set up, wireless version is brilliant, sleek design. Overall good value for money. Cons: Advertised with facial recognition which it does NOT have, delay of up to 5 seconds of movement/ door bell being rung meaning there is also a delay if you’re trying to speak to someone, i.e delivery men, this is VERY frustrating!!!! Sometimes the doorbell doesn’t detect movement at all which doesn’t fill me with confidence if I’m home alone, someone could be walking around and go unnoticed, battery life is not as advertised. An alternative would have been the ring doorbell which friends of mine have and love. If you are wanting home security at a decent price, a one off payment and excellent quality imagery stick to the eufy, but be aware of the lag in time and delay of approaching visitors..Version: 3.1.0

Anybody home? What is going on with Eufy? The last update significantly crippled my C24 cameras. Among other issues, the update erased my stored videos, broke the “playback” feature, screwed up notifications & motion sensitivity. It blows my mind that it’s been weeks and the problems haven’t been fixed! I was formerly impressed with Eufy, but with these quality issues (and their coverups regarding encryption breaches) I no long trust the company. Eufy really needs to do better!.Version: 4.5.5

Stay awayI have been plagued with issues from not picking up events at one end of the scale to picking up events that out with the selected are being monitored. The AI technology is a complete sham as cameras pick up inanimate objects blowing in the wind despite cameras being set to human only. The biggest issue is date not automatically updating which results in no data being captured until you manually update the date. Completely useless after midnight when you are most vulnerable unless you wait up to move the date on. False triggers and the fact the ability to select monitored area doesn’t work leads to reduced battery life and certainly not going to last 6 months. Would be better paying more for a more reliable and stable product..Version: 1.7.6

Just locked my phone up for hoursWhere the heck is your quality control team? I haven’t had any issues until tonight and I’ve had the app for about six months which makes me think you have a serious bug in an update. I received a movement alert and opened it. The app open screen came up and just hung there. I couldn’t swipe up to close the app and I couldn’t use the force reset by pressing the buttons. It got to the point where I had to turn on the flashlight to try and drain the battery. After about three hours I thought to try Siri and asked it to go to the Home Screen which actually worked (crazy right?!) and I restarted the phone. I’m afraid to try and open the app again because what if it locks and Siri doesn’t work? I did a quick Google search and I see very recent posts of people having the same issue. Can you try a little harder to make a product that works? I know making an app it’s really hard but if you can’t do it don’t waste everyone’s time. I’m on an iPhone 11. I have two of the eufy indoor pan tilt security cameras. I’m using the eufy security app..Version: 2.9.2

Latest update 4.7.1_125 makes app unusableHave removed and reinstalled app, tried force restart of phone and iPad with latest update and same problems. devices involve using latest iOS on iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPad Pro models. i use all wired cameras in my network. all cameras are on its own router on the 2.4 band. -problems include having to swipe down to refresh and delete multiple event videos only for them to reappear again when app refreshes. have to delete at least 3 times the same video - when viewing live video over wifi or cellular “Establishing secure video channel” lasts for more than 20 seconds and crashes the feed -trying to view video on iphone times out but trying on ipad it works sometimes..Version: 4.7.1

Updated app loses charge monitoringWorked fine before recent app update. But now the Dashboard for solar Solocam cameras no longer shows battery charge level over time nor daily solar charge rate. Also if you are using iPhone and change to Dark Theme, the Dashboard becomes dull washed out grey color making the text even harder to read. Have contacted support and no success. I do not think Eufy is big on beta testing- just release buggy firmware and see what happens..Version: 4.8.10

Good app but it’s killing my batteryI have background refresh off and it consistently is using 20-40% of my battery almost entirely from background usage..Version: 2.6.0

App getting stuckWe’ve had the app for nearly a year with few issues. Lately it’s been lagging when opening the app, delaying when playing a video, it freezes if I stop a video mid-stream to pause and enlarge, and just today it totally froze up my phone requiring a hard restart. Looks like many others have had this issue since the newest version was released two weeks ago. Please fix the app! As for longer-term issues, there is a setting, where you can determine if you want a shorter video clip versus a longer clip, however, that doesn’t always hold. If the camera senses that there is no more movement, it stops recording even if it’s on a longer clip setting. However, in most cases I can see clearly that there is additional movement after the clip has ended (such as a human walking their dog, dog stops to go to the bathroom and the clip ends mid-stream because the human & dog stopped moving… and the human & dog have to leave my property but the camera didn’t pick up their movement leaving because it was too busy saving the clip). I wish there was a way to specify how long each clip is, for example minimum of 20 seconds, even if there’s no further movement..Version: 4.7.90

Hardware is great - App, not so muchThe hardware is great I have three cameras and a doorbell. Apart from a terrible selection of doorbell chimes very happy. The app, unfortunately appears to be treated as a sales platform. Constant nags about sales and referrals. The latest update even has little ‘dancing’ coins to tell you there’s a message. The system update screen is the same screen where they have the sales page. All that’s an annoyance but the biggest issue is that, on all of my devices, the new app is a little sluggish making it unclear if it registered a tap or not. The layout has little to no customisation and it’s not always obvious where the settings are any more. The previous version, while still clunky to look at was fast..Version: 4.1.0

Cant loginReset password and told me not use the same password before. When I reset new password to login and told me the password was not correct. There are no customers contact information on the login screen. What is the product manager thinking about?.Version: 4.8.10

V. 4.7.1 - No close button???Hi, new version has some interesting feature, BUT, no CLOSE BUTTON (Option) after watching a recorded video. I have to close the app and restart. Please FIX this..Version: 4.7.1

Unusable when needing updateHeard a ding early this morning, went to check it right away but it wouldn’t let me view activity, forced me to update before I can see it. Did the update, viewed, turns out the ding was someone entering my property to steal stuff. Went after the person but they were long gone. Thanks Eufy, really protected me when I needed it!.Version: 4.5.8

Almost great, but with one faultThis is almost a great system, but is only good because of a pretty significant fault with the app which surely is easy to fix: the app has a geofencing mode which is great switching between home/away modes automatically and also a schedule mode switching between night/home/away modes based on a set schedule. However what’s really frustrating is the schedule mode can’t switch between night and geofencing modes.. so I either need to manually turn on geofencing, manually switch to night mode or manually switch the schedule on/off. All this would be solved if geofencing was an option in the schedule mode. If this could be added, this would be a brilliant system (hardware is great).Version: 2.9.1

Who thought a persistent product sale pop up ad was a good idea?Generally the app is a good interface for the Eufy video doorbell I bought. But there is an increasingly annoying focus on product sale promotion in the app. A couple of days ago they crossed a personal line with me. Every time I open the app — every single time — I get a product sale pop up ad that I have to dismiss before I can use any app functionality. If someone is ringing the doorbell, I have to dismiss the ad before I can even see the video feed, let alone respond to whomever is at the door. Same thing if I want to see a live feed, recorded clip, or change a setting. The whole idea of a video doorbell is to quickly see who is at the door. Putting a barrier up that greatly slows down that function for self serving purposes is a very customer unfriendly move. Your marketing needs are not more important than my potential safety. It’s all really too bad — this is otherwise a quality app with decent functionality that keeps connectivity for the video and audio live feed without eating bandwidth. The app/doorbell is a solid value with good reliability..Version: 3.3.3

Stupid notificationsThe app keeps sending notifications for nothing. There’s nothing in the frame and i keep getting notifications all day long. Irritating 😠.Version: 4.8.20

Awful don’t buyThey lie use cloud storage it all goes to china and the cctv wether they are powered or battery fail more then they work and now they are forcing app update to force your acceptance of there lies about it being a private system when it’s clearly not and the force app update forces your acknowledgment to avoid legal proceedings against them for fraud I do not recommend this company or the reliability of there camera’s and will be removing the whole system in place for a private reliable wired system don’t trust eufy! Oh and a 1200 dollar system will only work for a year then your up for new system again not worth the money either! Invest in local companies get wired !!! this update was the last straw for me!!!!.Version: 4.5.2

Overall Eufy experience: not badI started with Blink cameras back at their beginning and have a dozen of them. They’ve been mostly okay, but Amazon’s done little by way of improvement over the years since acquiring them. I decided to try Eufy after reading a lot of good reviews. So far, so good, hardware, at least. About the same cost as Blink, but noticeably better images and respond much quicker. The claimed 6 month battery life is (for me) overly optimistic - I’m getting about half that, but Blink’s claimed 2 years was overly optimistic too, so maybe it’s me. The app… well... It doesn’t play well with other apps on my iPad, so I can’t run it split screen. I was disappointed in the limitations of HKSV but the blame for that goes to Apple. It’s touch and go when I need to temporarily disable a camera - sometimes it works, sometimes it just spins forever and eventually fails. And the marketing… grrr. An ad once on opening would be one thing, but today it’s Every. Single. Time. I. Open. The. App… all day… ON EVERY DEVICE! Other than those noted annoyances, I’m good with Eufy..Version: 3.3.3

Fix the update issues or let us choose not to updateThese were perfect until the forced update. I didn’t want to update due to all the complaints all over the internet and now I can see why. Please bring back the old app version or fix the playback and notification issues. 1 - playback missing the yellow lines indicating motion detection. It also jumps back to midnight instead of the most recent motion detection. This is NOT user friendly at all. It was so much better before when playback would automatically go to the last motion detection and show the time with yellow lines. Please change back to that. 2 - notifications - why does it now take so long to bring up the footage? It’s making 2 of my cameras redundant. Please go back to the old app, what did the update improve????.Version: 4.5.8

New update makes some models completely useless4.55 is trash fix this garbage my eufycam2 pro doesn’t work when I use my iPhone on iOS 16.3 and on version 4.55 but it works on my iOS 15 iPhone with eufy 4.33 installed .. fix this trash.Version: 4.5.5

The app has no ability to perform routine functionsThe cameras are great. The app is horrible and prevents you from customizing your setup as needed. You can’t implement logical use cases in automation. then tediously delete events by day while they only display a maximum of 20 events, so a lot of “select all 20 events, delete, load the next 20 events and select all and delete. Then, choose the next day and repeat, It can take hours to delete events within a 3 month timeframe. Because You can only delete recorded events by individual day, not a date range. No functionality to “only store events from the last 3 months and auto delete all older events. Basic expected functionality is severely missing so you are limited I don’t think they have a User experience team. this app limits the full potential. Very frustrating. The R&D team don’t seem to use Eufy in real life situations otherwise they would see how weak, frustrating, and lack of needed functionality this app has. No logic to its design and they don’t seem to add needed functionality to the app, just bug fixes, which causes more bugs and you can’t do anything to triage the bugs that create a large security problem when cameras decide not to record intermittently after it updates. I could pay a high schooler to make a better more functional, reliable app than this even if it is their first App they have attempted to create..Version: 4.6.9

Lot of Glitches and bugsI purchases video smart door lock and was in love with it. Based on this I decided to purchase all security devices(Eufycam S330 solarcam) from eufy instead of Google to keep same security ecosystem. Now I am regretting my decision as I found lot of issues in the app like 1. Under Events, recording date does not change automatically to next day. You have to manually change the date. 2. Not all recording appears on Events section, you would need to go to individual devices to see the recordings. Although it starts to appear in Event after sometime has gone by. I could have turned blind eye on these issues however the biggest one which I got was its ability to recognize faces and ignore unnecessary notification. It was working perfectly fine for some time however recently it stopped working and although I had the “Ignore Notification” turned on for familiar faces, my phone was still flooded with motion detection notifications even though it was recognizing the faces in recording clips. I have worked with tech support and provided all the details but not heard anything so far. Hence one star from me for this app..Version: 4.6.5

Bad App Bad Ai Bad Camera Bad EverythingApp continuously logs me out for no reason and when I use Face ID to log in it just viciously cycles the app and logs me in and out over and over amd I have to quit the app and log in again. And then when I’m finally in it takes forever for the live feed to load and let’s say you think someone is breaking in your house or think something strange is going on outside by the time the camera shows the live stream something bad might’ve already happen or someone might’ve already gotta to you. Also the AI they use to record the clips pics and chooses when and when not to record you could walk right in front of the camera clearly visible and it won’t notify you or record anything but if you do the same thing a few minutes later it may or may not record. Just a really bad app and if you want a camera for safety against intruders this is not the Camera you want by the time the app loads any thing it’ll be too late for you.Version: 4.8.10

Completely unreliableThis is the only app I’ve ever reviewed because I feel strongly that others should know what they’re getting into. This app and the camera systems are fairly unreliable. I have two outdoor cams and they’ve both suddenly stopped recording new videos. Despite the 32 GB memory cards, only about 20 videos are available even though the cameras have been on and should have been recording for weeks. The app shows that events happened every day, but no videos are available. This seemed to coincide with an updated version of the app and I saw a Eufy forum post about a bug in the app decrypting the videos. I disabled my cameras for a few days hoping a new version of the app would be released and I would get access to the videos. However, that has not happened and the app still shows that events occurred even on the days when the cameras were off. This app has data reuse issues as well as an incompatibility with the cameras themselves. Despite many requests in the eufy forum for a public facing api so that we can build our own app, Eufy has not responded. In short, they advertise that you own your data but in reality you can only view it through their app and you’re relying on the assumption that their technology works. Unfortunately for me, my car was damaged during the period when these videos are not accessible. I WISH I HAD CHOSEN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CAMERA SYSTEM. I went with eufy to avoid cloud services and because it was cheap. I have regrets..Version: 4.5.5
