✓ You will get frustratedThinking this was anything like the 2020 version will be setting yourself up for hours of frustration and disappointment. Unless you want to shell out some serious money you have about a 25% chance of wining any race. Matchmaking is so weighed to those that pay I’ve been defeated multiple time even though drivers, car, etc. were better. Tires selection doesn’t matter nor do the gas power levels. Most races are decided right from the start since there is absolutely no passing. Once you start the position you are in is about where you will finish. Oh, also your 2020 team is also handicapped, good luck qualifying anywhere except 20th or worse. Absolute worse update of any app or game I’ve even experienced, developers just scream we want more money, pure greed. I have no issue spending a few dollars here and there but to be even remotely competitive you have to spend at least 100 dollars, Hutch just made everything more expensive and out of reach unless you drop some big cash. ✓ Super BuggyThis game has promise but the fact is, you throw good after bad playing this. Upgrading both cars and drivers is poorly designed to the point that you cannot determine any advantage by changing or upgrading a driver or vehicle, so you throw "money" at it hoping to improve the car or the driver, but the fact is, it or he performs worse with no explanation. The upgrade over/under make no sense whatsoever and occasionally revert back to old ratings suddenly and without cause. The matches are a joke as well, for rarely am I matched with Anyone who is not several rungs above me, then any advantage I manage to eek out during a race is met with yet other bugs, such as my scheduled pit stop being reset once I get the unwanted message that my tires are going bad or my fuel is running out; thereby ensuring I will lose the race. ✓ Worst game everThis game could be the best but it’s far from it. If your life or thinking does not involve logic or fairness then you’re going to love this game. There is no goal in this game. If you think that I’m upgrading the car and the driver so I should do better then you’re wrong, they will just put you against an even higher ranked player. I get someone who’s ranked 100+ points higher and they out qualify me by 20 positions. Ok, but now I’m playing against someone who’s a 100 points weaker, so it should be my turn. But no, they still outqualify me by 20 positions. They use boosties so they zoom past me. I use boosties so my car stops and everyone zooms past me. In turns they have super streamlined path, my drivers go out to the farthest point of the turn, stop there, and at some point they take off after losing 6 positions. The upgrades, not only that they don’t get you anywhere, but it’s absolutely random whether you can upgrade or not. I’m in series 11 and I get options to upgrade a series 2 driver. If I get enough parts that is, usually you don’t, but then of course you can buy them. If you don’t pay in this game, this is what’s going to happen. Send to play a game that had a similar engine to get you opponents and similar concept (upgrades don’t give you an advantage), stopped playing that one and will stop playing this one too. The overtake tire wasting gas eater setting used to actually do something, no longer does it do anything it seems but waste your resources to finish the race. It seems your driver wildly yields for virtually no reason no matter what! Now there’s this really terrible awful feature they added. THE EIGHT SECOND PIT STOP, used to start you off around 5 second but now they gave you the whole go lose the race to every AI Maneuver. So you don’t get any points and usually the two players if they just started deal with fighting for 21-24 which does Jack all for points and any fun as well!If you’re a beginner good luck, cause it’s severely boring and there’s no real challenge until late late into the game. F1 manager was working beautifully before I updated this, but now I can’t even get a simple 1,000 coin race in until it decided to crash and kick me from the PvP, and I’ve lost 10k in coins just because of the app repeatedly crashing over and over again. This resulted in me uninstalling and reinstalling the game, hoping it will make a difference, but instead I have all my progress removed, including my 2020 legacy team and car parts. So until I get a response or a resolution, I think it will be a long time before I decided to pick up on this again. There is a very annoying bug regarding the ads, you can watch an ad and not receive the award, which doesn’t occur just occasionally, but every other ad. Additionally, you must have a Facebook account to save your data between devices or change your name. I don’t have Facebook, so this means I’m just “Guest####”; you also can’t claim the reward for linking your account to Facebook. It’s a minor issue, but a bit annoying. Lastly, and the most important, are the mechanics of the game and how your stats influence your performance just don’t make sense. Every match is just a pure crap shoot in terms of how you’ll qualify, how you’ll race, and how you’ll finish. You’ll blow out a person with better stats than you one match and you’ll get dominated by somebody with worse drivers and stats on the next. You feel like you’re progressing by leveling up drivers and parts, but every race just feels like you’re the same base driver/car you started with. ✓ They have no idea what the player base wantsI first got into the game in 2022 and it was fun for the first few months then it got incredibly repetitive. Matches are all the same you load in watch qualifying pick a tyre and decide when to pit and that’s it. 99% of the game is checking how much gold you need for an upgrade and playing until you get it which is extremely unsatisfying because the time/reward ratio is horrible once you get up to around series 6-7 you get to a point where wins aren’t worth enough and losses are too much. I understand you have to make money on a free game but you CANNOT progress without spending money (making duels free fixes this btw) and I think for what the game is right now I can’t justify spending any more than $20-$30 on the game(which gets you barely anything). Takes too long to unlock things and the cost to upgrade drivers and parts is extortionate and you can’t even choose what you want to upgrade so the game is always in control. No matter what tyre type you use the opponent will more than likely win. E.g. a car using soft or hard tyre should not be moving faster than a car using wet tyres when it is raining. The speed you go during the race has zero affect on tyre use only fuel so another thing that’s controlled by the game. Initially it’s an engaging game and you level up quick but hit level 4 circuits and the game makes it very difficult to win. It will always pair you against people faster never similar level. Crate unlocks take too long. And when these things happen the game is no longer engaging and there isn’t much point in playing anymore unless you want to spend outrageous amounts of your own money on the game. I spent about £10 so far and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else doing it. It’s just not worth it. It’s great it has the circuits and the driver and names are not fake but I’m sure there is better games out there on the App Store. Motorsport Manager Mobile 3 looks better so I’ll be trying that out as it looks to give the user more control. ✓ Good but can be unfairGame is good and addicting especially if you’re an F1 fan, the amount of creativity you get when it comes to building your teams is very good and it gives you plenty of options to choose from, also if you’re just looking for a game to collect as many drivers as possible that can also be done. The only problem with it is it’s quite a big pay to win game, and can be quite unfair when you get matched with a player that can have 30+ more drivers score than you, and after a while of losing to unfair matchmaking it can ruin your interest in the game quite a bit, i think it would be better if there would be other ways to earn coins and drivers in the game rather than winning races since it makes it quite impossible to earn coins and things can get quite pricy. ✓ Mechanics are god awfulIt’s a 50/50 toss up whether my drivers runs off track or he runs the correct line and makes a pass like in Suzuka if the driver in front goes high in the hairpin you’d want to drive low to try and pass but no my driver decided it’s a good idea to follow the driver and lose like three spots and also at Singapore the same thing happens in the hairpin there. Another complaint please fix the circuit Gilles-villeneuve and make it wider you can’t pass it is so narrow and I can’t find a good strategy like I never have good races there and always finish in the midfield. Also please fix qualifying my drivers maybe 2.5 secs faster per lap than the field in clean air but in qualifying the only qualifying in the top ten about 1% of the time. Because of this I’ve won only 15 times and I know I could’ve won a lot more. And also make like a season mode where we have the accurate full race schedule Bahrain-Abu dhabi and let us choose the race length. ✓ Fun, but expect a grindThe gameplay is simple, addictive and enjoyable. At its best it feels like an F1 game that replicates high speed chess likeness of the sport, but at its worst it sometimes feels like your drivers are not responsive enough to you. I’ve encountered a few freeze frames and lagging in races but it hasn’t ever affected the gameplay so for me it’s a minor issue. The real test of patience however comes in its luck-based rewards system; it gives you reasonable chances to get good stuff but at the same time does not give you rewards in any other way than opening loot boxes. As a result, your time in the game can feel flat and pointless because most of the time you are getting repeats for parts or drivers that you do not use. When you do get the parts and drivers you use though that is the incentive to keep going and see what you get, even if they put a minor contribution towards levelling up. This is especially annoying if you have epic drivers early on (like I was lucky enough to get), as your progression with them especially relies on luck rather than skill. I think the game would be a lot better if the game rewarded you more for your time, as the loot system feels more vague and contrived to even the chances rather than being tuned to reward experience. ✓ DowngradeIn last years game, there was never a short supply of coins and you were able to race in the series you were up to. In this update, they have drastically reduced the amount of coins given in crates; this makes it way too difficult to upgrade drivers/ parts and once you lose a couple of races you’re back driving in series that are 2/3 below what you’re up to. To get back up to your series you need to consistently win in the lower tiers; when you do eventually get back up, you have one chance otherwise it’s another tedious amount of races which gets you essentially nothing (money rewards and crates are far below what’s needed). The cash currency has also become much more pay-to-win in this update; this however is fine as it is a free game and there needs to be a revenue stream. Essentially, they have heavily reduced the amount of coins in the game to get people to buy these in the store. They have given both currencies pay-to-win status rather than just cash and when you’re out of coins it’s either a day or two of driving for little/ no rewards or to just pay to get enough currency. Do not download this game until more coins have been added to crates and the game becomes much less pay-to-win. I’m constantly managing my pace to not breakdown and the opponent just blasts round on full push for two laps, never services their car and still doesn’t suffer mechanical failure late in the race which they should. So this new feature is absolutely pointless as it doesn’t influence the races as it should. All the new features have made no difference to how the game performs because the fundamental problem that all the previous versions have suffered from is still there. The garbage matchmaking system. It’s a game that is designed to frustrate users into spending money, pure and simple. Advice for new players. ✓ So Many Bugs, Won’t Match You With Anyone To Play DuelsThe way to improve your car in this game is to play “duels” to earn parts and tokens (from the duels themselves and also from challenges those duels fulfill). However, for a week now, when I try to play a duel, it times out and says it can’t find anyone at my level. (Pro League, Silver II. Given that my rank on the leaderboard is 30,406, I feel like there should probably be SOMEONE at or near my level that I could duel…) Until they fix duel mode to allow you to actually play, I do NOT recommend downloading this game. You can also upgrade your car buy spending a ton of real-life money, which is maybe why there doesn’t seem to be much incentive for them to fix duel mode. There are other gameplay modes (Events: Fun, but cost a lot of “coins” and Career: Was fun, but now you qualify 10 seconds faster than everyone then get left in the dust in the actual race, making this mode unplayable) but, surprise, those modes cost a lot of in-game currency and, again, if you can’t play duels to earn that currency, your only other option is to pay real money. I should add, I have payed real money for some things in the game. I really loved playing it and so I didn’t take issue with spending some cash every once and awhile when I needed something or just got impatient. Anyway. It’s relatively simple to understand but not so basic that it becomes tedious and boring. Trying to create the optimal car/drive partnership combined with strategy decisions makes it an interesting game. It does not matter what strategy you deploy or upgrades you try to make if the only team you can construct is mid pack to back marker worthy and they have a driver soaring in first place. The most frustrating thing about the game is when you take the lead on the last corner and cross the finish line first but still lose. There seems to be a bug or a delay with it detecting when you’ve taken the lead. Makes it really hard to progress or want to keep playing when that keeps happening. The part upgrades also don’t make sense. Some upgrades are super expensive for very little increase. Some top tier upgrades are actually worse than lower ones. It’s just all over the place. If that’s the case with the parts. maybe make it less luck based and more realistic. Put more strategy and control in the users hands. Have us pick parts based on the types of track. It gives you a limited amount of coins and then it forces you to race against people much faster than you so you lose all your coins. The only way to get your coins back is to wait hours for these boxes with tiny amounts of coins in them. Sometimes your driver and cars are rated much higher than the opponent but when you start the race, for no reason the computer controlled cars push your car from 1st to 15th. And then no matter what you do for the whole race you can never catch up. The developers would probably say that it’s possible to do well in the game without paying, but that is the exception not the rule. ✓ Almost greatThis game is good fun to play and you aren’t forced to spend money in order to have a bit of fun with it and get into it (although with all games of this nature, spending will help you advance quicker!) The problem is the number of play bugs that seem to exist that detract from the experience. The lap count is based on the leader, not your drivers meaning that in an 8 lap race, when you are a lap down it shows 8 laps when you’ve only completed 7. This would be fine if like real F1 the race ended on the lap the leader completes it, however it doesn’t, you STILL have to do the extra lap, this is VERY confusing at first, especially when balancing your fuel and tyre wear. Working out what elements to upgrade is also a bit of a task as there is a mix of views. For parts, some show the stats of the individual part, others the stats of the overall car. This mix of views depending on whether you are upgrading a part or applying a part to the car makes this very important area, quite a chore to work in. ✓ Fun But Economically ImbalancedBefore I begin, the concept of this game is actually very fun. Sometimes my drivers are idiots but I’ll look past that for now. The problem I have with this game is the money aspect and lasting enjoyment created by that money problem. All of the duels are practically pointless. You bet the joining fee (which increases dramatically as you progress) and then double it if you win. So the expected value if you win 50 percent of the time is....0. And then there are the championships which pop up about once per week. The entrance fee is 100k, 1 million, or 10 million. And the only way to make that back is if you make it to the finals and then finish in the top 40. Otherwise, you lose money. And then don’t even get me started on some glitches. I worked my way up and was doing a 60k race early on, and the game crashed as it was loading the race track and stole my 60k. It’s hard enough earning money without the game taking it from me. I’ve found myself just earning money off the ads and by opening crates I open on the first 3 duel stages (1k, 4K, and 16k). Occasionally I’ll do a a larger race but most of the time, it’s not worth the gamble. A slow, guaranteed source of income has a better expected income than a 50/50 duel. You don’t have much control over the strategy of the races and although you can pit stop for tyre changes it never refuels the cars even if you haven’t got enough to complete the race. This is extremely frustrating when you’re leaving the pit lane to rejoin the race after having sacrificed the time to pit but are then immediately faced with fuel warnings because it wasn’t topped up during the stop. This basically results in a loss every time for the driver with the worst fuel economy. Given that you cannot choose the driver attributes to increase when levelling up or who you’re opponent is on the only available race mode (duel), this makes winning for a new player pretty much impossible. I had no problem with performance or the game being unrealistic- it’s a game after all. It has an element of luck when it comes to crates, but it makes it more exciting. However I do agree with other comments, that the duel matching algorithm is very frustrating. Once you hit a level with the checkered flags, there is no going back.. you will be matched against opponents at that level going forward. I guess it’s to prevent people to get smart with the league standings and collect loads of coins by going back with their flags.. the problem comes - as others raised here as well - if you get lucky and win on a higher tier circuit, you easily get stuck with opponents 30-40 flags stronger than you. This year I saw that they had made changes to the matchmaking system and decided to give it another go. I’ve done maybe 10-15 races and already realized it’s still just as broken as before. The final straw was getting matched up against someone who had drivers 3 levels higher then mine, an advantage in every car stat including pit stop time, and 5 more of the rating. And even though they pitted 3 times and utilized a pretty awful strategy there was nothing I could do to keep up or even have a shot at competing. Another issue is the way the cars drive. The way they corner is so inconsistent and aggravating because sometimes your drivers will struggle to get by a much slower car for laps on end, lose 6 in one hairpin, or go on god mode and fly by 4 cars in a handful of corners. It doesn’t make sense and it renders any form of strategy useless if the pace and overall raciness of the cars is up to whether or not they take a corner with any form of competence. I can’t tell you in the 20 or so races I ran how many times that happened, my guy has the inside edge and a clean lane with congestion to the outside of him, and he shifts into stopped traffic and waits while 6-7 cars that were previously on his bumper run clean through the open wining he just noped away from. And then, I’m pushing my fuel strategy as much as I can, last turn that literally ends the race with the finish line right there, midway through the turn I run out of gas and the drivers STOPS TURNING AND SMASHES INTO THE WALL. ✓ This game used to be betterI’ve been playing this game for more than two years now and in the past I would probably have given it 5 stars but it seems to be getting worse as time goes on. These are my main issues with it: • Matchmaking is poor. I’m currently in the ‘legend’ league and I’d say that now 1/5 races are evenly matched. I’m usually put in a race where I’m so far behind at the start it’s impossible to make up places. • They’ve introduced ‘team orders’. This is a good idea in principle but you have no control over it so it means that your lead car slows right down to a stop and lets other cars through even when you don’t want him to. • Overtaking is really frustrating. If a slow car in front has no tyres left and is crawling along, if the driver has a high defending score you will literally sit behind him and your car will almost stop. • Similarly, cars can pile up going into the pits if there is one slow car. So you will literally grind to a standstill while everyone who is not pitting races past you. • There are race glitches. Such as your car suddenly slowing down for no reason. If you raise this with support their default answer is that it is due to your internet connection which I know is not the case for me. • The game has gone down the pay for success route so I’m sure you’ll do well if you throw money at it. The biggest fail in my opinion is that there isn’t an option to reset your progress. Cars leaving track to gain advantage (Monza and yas marina) just to name 2. ✓ Cool until you race someoneThe game is fun until you have to race against someone who has a better qualifying than you and only because of that wins. The matchmaking is completely unfair. I have multiple times raced someone with a car and drivers 10 times better than mine and then win because I’m absolutely hopeless because they also got a really good qualifying. The crates don’t even give you anything that good really. So people are obviously buying these to try and be better and it works. It’s a really pay to win game. You are forced to race someone that has 100 trophies more than you and then completely annihilates you and you can’t do anything but watch all the money disappear. ✓ Qualifying and upgradesHi developers I’ve commented before. I’ve won races and had races where I couldn’t get anywhere near the front on the same track. These are on back to back races as well. I know this is how it goes but this is wildly frustrating. You use drivers with the highest consistency, go racing and yet still end up at the back of the grid. Go to the next race and then some how you end up starting 10th or something like that. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. (Currently using Bottas and Perez) and my cars are pretty solid. The other odd thing I have noticed is the parts upgrading and how they don’t really related to the part. For example. I have an upgrade for the “Zen” engine and all the upgrade will get me is +1 to grip... how is that a realistic upgrade? ✓ Race forfeit issuesThis game has so much potential and the gameplay is pretty good. Overtaking etc is pretty realistic and it’s pretty enjoyable apart from two major issues the developers refuse to accept. 1) ‘race forfeits’ many times after qualifying a race will not begin and you will forfeit and coins/progress wagered. This occurs if you press any buttons before the timer starts or if you’re just unlucky. I’ve had so many tournaments ruined by this and the developer will blame your network even if your sat still, on Wi-Fi and had enough connection to start the race in the first place. Interestingly I’ve not have a single occurrence of being granted a free ‘win’ due to a forfeit in 2 years only a loss. Not sure what happens to the second player if the first is disconnected. I’m pretty sure both users lose out. 2) as has been mentioned in other posts the drivers will randomly speed up or slow down without any interaction. They will also miss pit stops. I assume this is another ‘connection’ issue but again, sat still on stable Wi-Fi you’d not expect this to be the case.
