PS Remote Play for Negative User Reviews

Works with some carriers, not with othersWorked great with my previous carrier Telus, but won’t with my new carrier Roger’s. Both are high speed mobile 5g networks in Canada with download speeds over 150Mbps. Nothing else had changed. Every tech I talked to said it’s a problem with the app. Please, PLEASE update. I love remote play! I want to give 5 stars!.Version: 6.5.0

CrashingSince updating my iPad Pro 2018 to iOS 14 this app keep crashing as soon as I try to enter the code for the two step verification. Devs please fix.Version: 2.0.1

No longer worksIt no longer works on iOS 14 just crashes constantly at authentication / sign in..Version: 2.0.1

App shuts downEvery time I try to sign in, the app crashes, and it’s infuriating. Fix this now please..Version: 2.0.1

Constant connectivity issuesApp worked fine the first time I used it. Since then it’s either unable to find my PS5, won’t link even when using the code direct off PS5 or simply can’t find the PS5 over internet (which is odd when using a hardwired connection). Using iPhone XR. Like I said worked the first day I downloaded the app and never connected again since due to errors. Wouldn’t really recommend..Version: 4.0.2

A Good StartIt’s pretty cool to be able to connect to my PS4 on my phone! It works really well so long as the WiFi I’m on is strong. There are a few details I have problems with, though. 1. The black gradient at the bottom on landscape mode. I know it’s so you can see the Home, Share, and Options buttons better, but if I don’t need to see any other buttons until I press them, why do I need to see those? The gradient and buttons get in the way of some games’ hotbars but are too tiny in portrait mode to know what I’m selecting. 2. WiFi only. I wish I could use cellular. Oftentimes when I’m out and about, the cellular signal is stronger than the public WiFi. I even tried using another device as a hotspot and it didn’t work. If Sony could figure out how to make it work on cellular, too, that would be amazing..Version: 1.0

Connection without iOS 13Its a good app but i have a really hard time trying to connect to my ps5. Every time i try to connect it manually it says cannot connect and when i try to connect it by the internet it doesn't work. This app just doesn't work without iOS 13 and its stupid because people have to go and ether buy a new phone or not use the app..Version: 4.5.0

Ps remote playWhen I’m right next to my play station it disconnects in 12. Secs.Version: 6.5.0

Clunky but a great startFinally for IOS users we’re getting remote play. And for the most part it’s pretty good. Connection is fairly easy once you register your Phone to PS4, framerate when playing is around 25 fps (even with a gigabyte connection) but is to be expected when your remoting in on a system so you’ll probably want to stay away from games like Apex legends or Battlefield and stick with single players game like Spider-Man and God of War. It’s controls are pretty good? While they done a good job emulating the buttons the L3 and R3 sticks are a bit finicky and hard to control. I don’t believe there is a sensitivity slider in the app so you might have some trouble getting use to it. Minus some hiccups this app mostly works as needed. So for Sony fixes to work on are framrate and better control of the L3 & R3 sticks and give us some option to hook up the PS4 controller and I can give this 5 stars. Still a great start though!!.Version: 1.0

Piece of junk appCan’t even connect to my pa5 manually and they are both on the same internet connection get a Xbox instead..Version: 6.5.5

Grey barsUgly grey bars appeared on the iPhone. No fix for over a month now..Version: 5.0.0

Can’t sign inEvery time I get a “Cannot connect to server” error. I’ve tried authenticating in a browser first even. Useless..Version: 6.5.0

Missing Key Features! PLEASE READ SONY!Love that I can keep my PlayStation connected to LAN Cable and use it. But I wish I could use LTE on my phone to connect because sometimes the WiFi I have available is slower than my phone’s data. Also, the screen needs to fit the iPhone X. I cannot stand the black borders on the sides. So much screen space wasted... MOST IMPORTANTLY, the PS4 Controller needs to be able to connect to an iPhone’s Bluetooth... PERIOD. This app has no real value if you can’t even play real games on it because the analog sticks are basically non existent on the screen. Then once you do that make an option where I can take the digital buttons off the screen. Either make the controller compatible or trash this whole app and just remake the PS Vita with 2019 standards for a device.. such as a working remote play. Sad... Really wish the Ps vita Go would just come back..Version: 1.0

It’s ok...The remote play is okay and the concept is sound but I found that it is unreliable. Sometimes I can be standing right beside the ps4 and it still doesn’t connect.( I do this so nobody can watch me play) It’s inconsistency is really irritating and if it were fix it would make the app all the more better..Version: 2.0.1

Impossible on Sony TV Bravia 2023!Hello, I would like to share with you my embarrassment. I recently bought a new Sony TV 2023 Bravia. My problem is not there, but the fact that I can't install PS Remote on a Sony TV is beyond me. I absolutely have to buy a Google Chromecast to be able to play. It's a little embarrassing! And the two together on my TV it creates conflicts. Why doesn't the parent company of one of its subsidiaries such as Playstation give full access to PS Remote on the Sony TV?? Can you do something?! Thank you for your interest..Version: 6.5.5

Great Idea.... in theory.I leaped at the opportunity to download this the second I heard about it and admittedly a lot of work must’ve gone into this for it to turn out the way it did. However, virtually ANY latency kills your ability to play 95% of games outright. The controls themselves are very clunky and L1/L2 are virtually inaccessible while using the left analog stick - which only works half the time itself. Not to mention the lack of any DualShock compatibility meaning I can only really use this to look at my games and wish I could play them while I’m out like I do at home. There’s isn’t much you can do if your internet isn’t 100% perfect but if DualShock support was added it could be a bearable experience for a turn based game or something..Version: 1.0

TrashI have iPadOS 17.2 and the latest version of the app and I can’t get past the enter your email page. Was really hoping to get it and I am disappointed in this app.Version: 6.5.0

Remote Play Has Killed Audio on TVSo I tried the iOS remote play, having been a big fan of remote play on my Vita. My issue is I can now only get audio on remote play! I played with RP for five minutes immediately after downloading to my iPad, thought “that’s fun” then went back to my controller and started to play, only to discover that the TV is no longer receiving any audio. The iPad version still does, the Vita version still does, but my TV doesn’t. I hunted the menu on the PS4, but the audio options are threadbare, I search the limited menu options on both the iPad and Vita versions of remote play, but they make the PS4 menu look bloated! I tried a factory reset, to no avail. I’ve no idea what has happened, how to fix it and I’m bloody furious! I can’t now play any game on my PS4, with my TV, as I no longer have any audio. FIVE MINUTES WITH THIS APP HAS BRICKED THE AUDIO FOR MY PS4!!!!.Version: 1.0

Doesn’t registerThis app would be great but when I try to actually register from ps4 to my phone it doesn’t actually work, when I try to enter a code it says it has already been used by another person..Version: 1.0

TerribleAfter I used this app my controller won’t Connect to my PS4 and look it up how to reconnect and it won’t work hate this app if I could give it a zero I would.Version: 2.0.0

No full screen playPlease make this app play full screen. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and hate that this puts black borders at each end. Why not take full advantage of the large screens on the new phones. This is very disappointing and makes me not want to use the app. Please update it so we can play full screen..Version: 3.0.0

Singing inWhenever I trie to sign in my password it would disappear and say the password is wrong please fix this.Version: 4.0.2

Broken since updateI had some issues with remote play for the PS4 before the update, occasional lag and disconnection, but since the update it is now unusable. Whenever the connection gets weak, instead of a small lag and then resuming like normal, the new remote play app just completely disconnects and makes you reconnect each time. To give an example, I can’t play for longer than 30 seconds without it disconnecting and I’m only a few meters away. Reconnecting takes a while and by then you’ve missed a cutscene or important gameplay. Basically it’s useless. Please fix this and I hope it isn’t some ploy to make us purchase a PS5..Version: 3.0.0

Cannot connect to linked ps4Hi, so I cannot connect to the ps4 but everything is perfectly fine and it only works when I’m on the ps4 but apparently it won’t let me play on rest mode, I want to play on it while it’s on rest mode because I can play wherever I want but I can’t do that because the app is on something. Please fix this and I’ll make another review with 5 stars thanks 😊..Version: 6.0.0

No support for inverted X or Y axis playI invert the Y axis on all modern games, having learned which way is up on a Thrustmaster joystick playing Comanche, a helicopter sim. In a helicopter, leaning a joystick *away* from you puts the copter’s nose *down* (and moves you forwards) I presume most gamers perceive the joystick as moving /the world/ around in their field of view; for me, the joystick is like an extension of my character’s spine through its head, and moving it moves *me* (well, my head and neck), never the world. Failing to support Y axis inversion in PS4 games makes this app unusable for me..Version: 1.0

No mobile dataI think it’s great to connect to the PS4 using mobile. However, as someone with unlimited and fast mobile data, I would like to be able to connect to my PS4 without having to link to WiFi first (My PS4 has already been linked with to my device) I have to manually connect to a fake WiFi connection to enable the search functionality and then use my mobile data. This needs be fixed as the app is not keeping up with its time!.Version: 2.0.0

I KEEP GETTING KICKED OUT OF THE APPWhen I finish signing in to my ps4 account it asks me to put in a verification code when I go to tap on the bar to put the code in I get complete kicked out the app so I’m am very disappointed 1 star😡.Version: 2.0.1

ErrorsConstantly errors not allowing anything to work.Version: 6.5.0

Using a controller??I only have an iphone 6, so i cant use a ds4. But i have a Bluetooth controller is there a way i can use that or somehow have my ps4 controller connected to my console while im using my phone as the screen? App support was useless/too complicated to figure out.Version: 3.0.0

NotHow do u use it if u have no controller.Version: 2.0.1

Would be the best if...I absolutely love that I can mess with my PS4 while I'm on break at work via WiFi. I think this app is great BUT I really wish that this app would hold up a little better. I use this on my iPhone and while I'm using the app I'll get a text and if I answer the text on the iMessage app, the PS4 remote app resets and I have to start the whole process of finding my PS4 all over again. I also tried answering texts by not leaving the remote app and just replying by pulling down the message so that the keyboard comes up while the remote app is in the background BUT whenever I get back to the app, none of the buttons register my inputs so then I'll have to exit the app and start over. Like I said, I think this app is awesome but if there's a way to address these issues, this app would definitely be 5 star material!.Version: 1.0

PS4 remote play.I was excited about this when I saw it. Download it and couldn’t wait to play it. Once having used it I was let down. It’s virtually impossible to use all the buttons that you need. It’s not set up well to play complex games ie fifa, cod and other games. Using right analog stick to look around and aim is horrendous. You’re basically chasing your own view to try and control it and see ahead of you. It’s all over the place. Needs improvement but is very cool to control your PS4 with your phone..Version: 2.0.0

Doesn’t work with video streaming appsGeez! It took me a couple of hours fartarsing about with account logins, profile IDs, device connections and so on. Once I got it working, I found that my fave streaming apps Netflix and AppleTV not only disallow streaming to the ipad (which I understand and do not want) but don’t even allow the remote controller to work for app controls like pause, rewind, etc. Not effing happy!.Version: 4.5.0

First update in months, still broken on mobileYou think given how long it’s been, Sony would have corrected such a major issue. Unfortunately, it seems like they didn’t get the memo. The app is still unusable when on mobile data. It only seems to work on mobile when I am connected to a VPN. I suspect it’s an issue with IPv6 only addresses. This should not be such a problem at this point in time. Do better..Version: 6.5.5

Apologies to PS and a solution for those still having connection issuesSeems I’ve found the issue to why the remote play wasn’t working away from home when I’m at work, for those having issues , make sure your router is in AP mode ( if you have both modem n router ) also google the ports that need to be forwarded for Ps remote play and set up port forwarding on your home admin Wifi , give your PS4 a static IP that is available to prevent it from changing when you restart your PS4 before setting up port forwarding , disable PS vita network settings( causes some issues) . And the part no one told me about not even google is that at the second location (work ) find the ip address your phone is using , go into the Wifi admin ( if you don’t have access then hope the default password is set on the Wifi admin which is user : admin, password : password , might be different for other people) once in the settings enable DMZ mode and put in the private IP address you found for your mobile phone ) In the PS4 remote play app reduce the graphics settings ( not required but just in case ) and try to connect to your PlayStation that is in REST MODE at home from work , this will take 2-4 failed connections if your PS4 is not on Ethernet n is below 60% Wifi signal strength, but it should work afterwards running as smoothly as if the PlayStation was right in front of you at work ..Version: 2.0.0

Cannot connect to PS5It worked about 3 months ago. I go to use it again today and it doesn’t connect. Spent an hour diagnosing and trying everything. Checked Reddit. Sure enough, lots of folk posting theirs no longer works either. So 1 star until it gets fixed. It has only one job to do, but it doesn’t work at present. @sony (optimistic, I know)..Version: 5.0.0

Buggy on iPhone 15 ProThe app generally works well on my iPad. When playing on my iPhone 15 Pro, games play fine for several minutes and then turn in to a slideshow. This is playing locally on the same network. No issues with Xbox or Steam streaming on the same phone. This app is still in need for significant performance tweaking..Version: 6.5.0

Was okay now crashing 3 seconds within openingI’ve been using the app for a while on my iPad Pro and suddenly as of when writing this review, the app crashes seconds into opening it. Even when it was working, connection was terrible as it took 15 minutes or more to actually connect to my remote PlayStation. When it does work though, it works fine. A few seconds for the resolution to properly catch up but when it does it’s smooth... most of the time.Version: 3.0.0

Sounds amazing. Actually garbage.Sounds like an awesome idea - remote in an play your PS4 from wherever, whenever! However it’s really only good for powering up the PlayStation, and then clumsily selecting something, and that’s while in the same house with an excellent wifi configuration. Certainly not possible to play any games or stream any moving image content. Pairing the controller was easy and I can actually see that the response via my iPad to the PS4 is almost good enough to play a game, but it’s the huge delay on the video feedback which kills it. Be warned that if your tv auto powers on when the PlayStation turns on you will confuse other residents in the house! Especially if you’re trying it from another time zone. I am off to Brazil this afternoon so was hoping to give it a go but don’t want it all to power on while I’m away. Anyway. Cool idea, be sweet if in the future it’s a useable feature!.Version: 2.0.0

3StarsIt’s a wonderful service by a person who understood the importance we hold for our gaming experience but the only issue I have is the Internet speeds affecting my gameplay..Even story mode games that are offline are affected but I know it’s not just one variable..I’m pretty sure the area I’m in does not have the strongest connection/signal that would allow smooth gameplay..I’m not hardwired and multiple people are connected to the wifi along with other devices so these are a few things to consider ..it was working smoothly for some time but not for more than 6 months, from what I can remember..I love the feature but because I can’t play I feel cheated for purchasing the backbone which was 100$ at the time and now I really can’t use it which makes me feel hesitant to purchase similar and other products in the future.Version: 6.5.5

It won’t workIt says to connect to same network but i am I tried every way but it’s just not good APP!.Version: 6.5.0

Please change remote conectionPlease fix this i shouldnt have to conect my remote to my phone its made heists unplayable due to not being able to use my remotes aux output for headset this is extremely annoying please let the remote play just be remote play and not have to conect controller to phone as cant use microphone no microphone in headset i wont play its ruined my game experience and it needs to be fixed by the way im talking about gta5 gameplay this app is good the only problem is cant have controlee conected to ps4 so cant use headset.Version: 3.0.0

Great concept, poorly implementedHoly moly, been waiting for something like this for ages, and lots of parts are great! It’s free, connects quickly, good quality - near perfect in that way. But what a shame it’s near unusable due to the awkward controller + sensitivity on mobile. Please please please bring DualShock support in, then it would be 5* - the phone/iPad/device should NOT be the controller. Really really this is the thing it’s missing, the dream would to play as normal and just stream to my phone/tablet. I think that’s what we were all expecting from this app, hopefully they’ll bring it in! (Thank you Sony for taking steps in this direction though it’s great, make sure you at least try and implement it better than Xbox/Microsoft 👀).Version: 1.0

Please update appPlease update app to support IOS 14.0.1 Does not allow me to sign in. In short, the app is not working for IOS 14.0.1 please update..Version: 2.0.1

Captcha system needs to be addressed. These captcha puzzles are flawed. No matter how careful you are, there is a reasonably high chance you will fail at least one of the 5-10 or so required. They won’t tell you which one or more. The work around is using the audio puzzle, but even though that is easy to pass, you still need to do 5 or so of them, and right now even upon successful completion you are looped back to the log in page, where you have to once again complete them again. App is unusable as a result..Version: 6.5.0

A marginal improvement on second screenI’m cursed with knowing the capabilities of Microsoft’s Xbox app - it’s excellent. It’s not likely you’ll be playing any games using this app (for practical purposes) so the primary use of this app would be for media such as streaming. You can select what you want to watch, however, all controls disable, along with the second screen which is useless because I’m not watching from my phone in the first place, probably for fear that you’ll try and illegitimately record whatever it is that you’re trying to watch. No rewind, no fast forward, no pausing my live TV so I can fast forward through commercials that interrupt the game. Considering this is what I use my PlayStation for this app is essentially useless to me. Still leaps and bounds behind their Microsoft counterpart on this one..Version: 2.0.0

Waste of TimeAll we need is a simple media player remote on iPhone so that we don’t have to use the extremely clunky DualShock controller to watch a DVD on PS4. This doesn’t achieve that..Version: 2.0.1

Well this is uselessI don’t see the point in even releasing this without support for the DualShock 4. Just about every game is unplayable without it so DualShock 4 support really does need enabling before the end of the week. As far as I know the PS4 just uses regular old Bluetooth so there’s NOTHING stopping the DualShock 4 being connected to an iPhone or iPad unless it has been locked out in software alone. It would be an improvement to keep the DualShock 4 connected directly to the PS4 over Bluetooth and just use the iPhone as a wireless screen with no controls available through the app. Just do something because the app is basically useless as it is..Version: 1.0

“No longer supports iOS 12”I just wanted to play hell let loose now I need to go upstairs, get my freakin laptop and a controller NEXT TO MY PS5.Version: 4.5.0

Update ruined the appIt’s not even connecting anymore..Version: 6.5.0

Connection issuesI just traded my iPhone 13 in to get the new 15 max. I played remote play almost daily on my 13 with fully updated app. Once I got 15 max even with good speeds on mobile I can not connect. Keep getting network speed too slow.Version: 6.5.5

Russ TWhen I first started using this app I could connect to my PS4 from anywhere. But the last year it keeps saying that I must be connected to Wi-Fi. Even tho I have the mobile data setting turned on. Where before I could use my mobile data. Please fix this issue as when I want to use this app to connect to my PS4 I am not on Wi-Fi. Apart from that it’s a cool little app great if you wanna check on a download and can’t access the tv due to the kids watching something on it 👍🏼.Version: 4.5.0

(8801330d)For 3 years I’ve been unable to use remote play due to this error. It seems to be a very common issue online yet Sony hasn’t fixed it. This is ridiculous… do better.Version: 6.5.0

Not workingDoesn’t work with my phone apple iphone xr won’t connect to ps4 really want to try it please help.Version: 2.0.0

Sort of worksThe idea is great, connects easily to the playstation. however the connection is inconsistent and the display is inconsistent too. It works, but poorly. you have to continue to reconnect it, around every 5-10 mins, its not too much of a faff to do so but after a few times it can be irritating. When playing the display can be great but then it can be awful and cant make out what it says on the screen. it glitches and throws the game off, for example i can be watching a cut scene and i miss a line of what a character is saying, therefore ruins the experience of playing the game. the range it can take is decent, not bad, not great, its more expected, i didn't expect it to reach any further than it did. How easy it is to reconnect the iPad/phone back to the playstation does improve my opinion of the app, makes it easy to reconnect without having to run back and forth to my ps4. the idea is great, and i used it for a while, yes with interruptions but eventually i got used to it. I was able to play on my playstation away from my console and enjoy it to a degree. Great app, but doesn’t work so great. this app would do so much better if overall connection improved..Version: 6.5.0

Remote Play is such a good idea that just doesn’t work very well.Nearly perfect Wi-Fi is required for this to even come close to working properly..Version: 6.5.0

Worked good until......The app is amazing until iOS/ iPadOS 13.4 It doesn’t allow me to play away from my home. Only works with a local connection. Please UPDATE your APP to fix this issue..Version: 2.0.0

Bluetooth pairing issuesNot sure if this is just me, but once I connect my controller to my phone to use this app, that controller never connects to my ps4 ever again. Just keeps flashing blue, and none of the strats on google help at all. Just be mindful when connecting your controller to your phone to use this app is all I’m saying. Otherwise, as long as you have good internet, this app is great..Version: 5.0.0

This app will not register away from home with my iPhone XR or my iPad Pro 2020 anymoreI’ve recently been trying to connect to my PS4 away from home on my iPhone XR and my iPad Pro 2020 that I just got only 4 days ago and tried using this app on both. Both are using the latest iOS 13.4.1 and this app on both will not work no matter what I have tried. I have tried reinstalling the app, restarting both devices, manually registering them to my PS4, setting them both to the lowest resolution settings, giving them both static IP addresses, and even port forwarding my PS4 and both devices and nothing is registering them. When I’m at home this app works flawlessly on both no lag whatsoever, but the moment I try to use both devices with this app on a different WiFi router over the internet, it finds my PS4, attempts to register, and then fails. It was working perfectly on my phone a couple months ago when I was using it. Sony it’s time to update the app... 😡NOW!!!.Version: 2.0.0

Good app! With downsidesFirst of all I have to say this app is great. Connects to my PlayStation quickly, it works and it’s free. The downsides aren’t too bad on their own, but add up. I’ve only used this for Dragon Ball Z and Apex Legends so far. I’m on an iPhone XS, WiFi has 60mb download speed and 20mb upload. 1) The touch controls are spread all over the screen, making the trigger buttons difficult to reach whilst playing the game comfortably. Not impossible, managed to pull of a basic combo in DBZ. That brings me to the next problem. 2) Streaming is laggy. I can’t really see a workaround for this. When playing Apex, the game is fractions of a second slower but enough to make it difficult to play effectively, in my opinion. When doing an air combo in DBZ, jump cancelling and continuing the combo just doesn’t work.. and this is just in training. 3) Button presses don’t always register. Probably related to lag but an issue enough on its own. I’d say a controller attachment is a must for this..Version: 1.0

Sony as it’s bestReasons like this make me consider going to Xbox the dev team on this app are a laughing stock for the last twelve months this app refuses to work away from home all necessary ports are open and play over mobile data is enabled in the app my ps5 is connected via Ethernet on a 1gb up and down line and it still refuses to connect over anything outside the home this app has been like this for over 12 months there is also a different app called mirror play which is miles better than Sonys app but this does the same and it’s all down to Sonys servers fix it.Version: 6.5.0

DecentI’d give this 5 stars if this app didn’t constantly freeze during streaming; it makes my character be stuck in place or the camera is going every which way without me even touching it because it’s struggling to reconnect to remote play and then bad enough to where it kicks me out. I was streaming Overwatch 2 on Discord and it kicked me out over 5 times, the game even gave me a countdown about to kick me out in the middle of a match set as “inactivity” because it was struggling THAT MUCH. May just find an extension to plug into my PS5 to do this so I can continue streaming games for my friends on Discord without this problem. Like I said, it’s fine but it has lots of connection and lagging issues. Not to mention the quality is kinda boo-boo. We are way past the times and need for 720hp being the highest quality available..Version: 5.5.0

No 1080p steam option for ps5Please fix your app, for years there still no option to stream to iPad at 1080p, the app only shows 720p. There is NO option to selected 1080p. I have ps5 and 900 Mbps internet plan and 1 Gb Ethernet for my device. Ps5 is hardwired and ipad is using 5 ghz channel. Fix your app, so shows 1080p streaming for ps5 owners..Version: 6.5.0

Great when it worksWhen it works it’s a dream come true. Playing ps5 on my phone using the backbone controller attachment basically turns my phone into a suped up, next gen Nintendo switch type console that can play ps5, Xbox and steam games all on one device, using this app, Xbox remote play and SteamLink. Unfortunately it has connection issues and can’t be used when using mobile data, despite me having unlimited 5G. I really hope they keep improving the app as this really does feel like the future when it works and with Xbox soon to release Game Pass for IOS, Sony don’t wanna fall behind.Version: 4.0.0

Mobile data support brokenLatest update has broken access via mobile data. Wifi still works but mobile data continues to prompt speed is not high enough enough it has been fine before and it still works when hotspotting off another device. While we’re in the area would love an option to connect via local or remote rather than wait for the app to decide itself..Version: 6.5.0

Terrible update!Since this update, I have practically been unable to do remote play AT ALL! Before this update, I could sometimes get some display stuttering and occasionally a disconnect, but that didn't happen often. Now, when I try using the app it connects for a few seconds, and then loses the connection! At the worst, the screen goes black, and then it says the connection was lost like it was connected for a millisecond. The stupidest thing is when I am in the same room as my PS4, the app is not much more reliable. Edit: when I updated this app on my Windows laptop, it became trashed there too..Version: 3.0.0

Does not connect most of the TimeIf your PS5 is in sleep mode or at a different location then you it is almost impossible to turn it on! When you do connect it works fine but that is a very rare occurrence! I go to work for a month at a time and about 99% of that month I cannot connect unless the wife turns on the PS5 for me! Even then it is iffy! Really worried for the PlayStation Portal!.Version: 6.5.0

Wish you could use CellularI’ve found this remote play app had worked quite. Well. The limitation of only being able to use on wifi is really annoying when generally my 4G or 5G cellular network is faster in Australia..Version: 3.0.0

This is so bad...sorry PlayStation be better with this appThis app is ok it’s got 4 great features that you can use like streaming, a vertical controller, using your phone keyboard, and using your mic on your phone. But if we are gonna be honest about this app it’s not better than r-play. And the reason why? Well it’s because r-play you are allowed to take that anywhere you want without making your PS4 primary you can use your LTE and also be able to make multiple accounts for it! For the price it’s a a great app and the rating are true if you want an honest reason here it is. You are so far behind with this that you make an “update” to the app yeah it made it better but it still didn’t make it “remote play” so if you wanna make this better maybe go take to the creators of r-play and make an amazing app that you can use anywhere without doing a million things before it works.Version: 1.0

Works perfectly other than not working for IPv6 only CelullarIt provides smooth experience most of the time, especially connecting to local network. However, my mobile provider has switched to IPv6 only for three years now and This App can’t stream over IPv6 only network..Version: 6.5.0

Please fix the amplitude problem from the console to the app!I have a such an issue with the disconnections on this app. It literally makes no sense into trying to play a game when all it tells me is that i don’t have “good connection” whatsoever when indeed I have great wifi service, I get cut off mid game and it’s absolutely infuriating. I go on google to see how I can get better signals for the app to stay compatible with my PS4 but nothing seems to work. And no matter how bad of a quality I set the picture per second and the rate of the high speed internet, it just simply doesn’t do much for me anyway. How can I enjoy this if I there’s no other methods to keep the connection permanent? Is this a bug on the app or did y’all think this wasn’t gonna happen? Pretty sure everyone knows this so they would rather delete the app instead of almost pulling their hair out the from scalp regarding for its lack of interest in fixing it. You're welcome..Version: 4.0.2

Don’t workThis is pain in the… doesn’t work… lack of intelligence to created this app..Version: 6.5.0

I can not sign inAm i the only one who can not sign in.Version: 6.5.5

TerribleOnce I type password then it deletes the password and say it’s wrong but I know it’s right.Version: 2.0.1

Will not connect to Sony serversAfter fruitless searching on how to fix this issue, it just seems myself and many others with iPads simply cannot get past the first step of signing in let alone actually using the app. Poor effort Sony and a giant waste of time. I can sign into psn on every other device and pc I own. But for whatever reason, the Sony servers reject this iPad entirely for all Sony apps..Version: 6.5.0

DualShock should NOT turn off during connection!I’m excited for the future of this app as this would solve a couple of nightly TV wars lol. Reaaaallllly wish I could still use the DualShock with this and simply use my tablet for a screen while I can switch my TVs input to cable. As it stands connecting the app and signing in to your ps profile immediately disconnects the DualShock. Ive been able to sign in as a guest and play using the DualShock but it’s been kind of useless to me personally as all my saves and ps now subscription is linked to only one profile. Probably easier to just make the DualShock compatible with iOS via Bluetooth. The touch controls are decent but far from ideal. The app is really close to being amazing though. Lots of room for improvement but looking forward to it..Version: 1.0

It doesn’t let me srceen recordOverall this a good app but it won’t let me srceen record because ps app only save 3 mins and mine video is 8 mins I try to srceen record but I can’t please let the ps app save videos longer than 9 mins.Version: 6.5.5

Version: 6.5.0

WiFi only!!!This app has lots of potential. There is lag (to be expected and understandable, even acceptable) but for love nor money I can’t understand why it only works on WiFi! In the age of 5G, where my phone connects faster than my home broadband, and stable 4G, why can’t we connect via our data plans? This would unlock this app and my PS4. Or bring back an updated Vita! This would easily get 5 stars if it worked via mobile data..Version: 3.0.0

Login Doesn’t WorkRecently, Sony changed their login system and I haven’t been able to log in in the app since. After entering email and password, it always results in “cannot connect to server” error. Please fix it..Version: 6.5.0

Latest Update is BrokenSomething is wrong with the latest update. I used to have zero problems with remote play previously now connecting via wifi gets stuck and checking networking a lot, it often errors and often requires me to hit connect a second time. This occurs while using mobile data..Version: 6.5.0

GarbageThis app is hot garbage and a waste of my iPhone storage. It constantly disconnects and the only solution there is, is get faster internet and I can’t do that where I live. This needs to be fixed. Like I said. Hot garbage..Version: 6.5.0

No `Matter` SupportI use the PS5 as my primary device for streaming movies and TV. So I’m reviewing from this perspective since I otherwise game directly on the PS5. Ideally the PS5 should support the Matter protocol and enable functionality so that I can remotely boot the PS5 and specific apps using my smart home assistant. Since it does not officially support smart home protocols, I use Homebridge plugins to do this, which I believe piggyback on the APIs developed for this app. However, there is a lack of support for opening a specific app. This prevents me from making shortcuts that do things like turn on my AV receiver, TV, PS5, and open the desired app with a single prompt. Supporting this would make the PS5 significantly more user friendly and accessible as the primary device for media streaming in my home..Version: 6.5.0

Latest Update Breaks80108d45 error, can no longer connect to PS5 no matter what.Version: 5.0.0

Stop being greedyYou gotta stop being greedy and make this app compatible with logitech G Cloud.. i’ve already buy your console stop blocking people to enjoy playing playstation game on the go because they didnt buy a portal.. really disappointed.Version: 6.5.0

Update ruined remote play aspect ratioJust updated to the most recent version of remote play, an app I have used fairy consistently the last few months without any problem. Now when I turn on remote play on my iPhone, when the phone is in landscape orientation, a portion of the bottom part of the screen is no longer visible. I can see it in portrait, but it is just black. It makes playing games incredible difficult because it basically blacks out all bottom-set huds..Version: 6.5.0

Doesn’t workI literally put my phone right on top of my PS4 and it didn’t connect, I tried to connect using the 8 digit code the PS4 gives you and it just says error every time. Someone please help..Version: 1.0

Doesn’t Work On Latest iOSTried everything. Home WiFi, alternative WiFi, mobile network…nope. All have very adequate speeds to play on and Xbox Remote Play/Cloud works seamlessly on the same connections and device. This app merely kicks me off without even properly connecting to my PS5, saying ‘connection lost’. This is for sure an app issue because I’ve followed set up guides etc for enabling Remote Play on my console and changing the streaming settings within this app. Also, I have used this app and this phone for streaming before, so that is why I feel like an update has broken it..Version: 6.5.0

Doesn’t work with RogersIf you’re in Canada and use the Carrier ROGERS… this app will not work with your mobile data no matter what you do..Version: 6.5.0

It does it’s job - most daysThe app has suddenly stopped working when accessing the PlayStation outside of your home wifi connection. It has worked fine for months, and now you just get failed to connect message. It still works at home under the same wifi connection as the PS4, but when you can’t access games out of home it makes this app pointless. I’ll give it another week, but when one is contemplating on getting a PS5 or switching to Xbox, this issue is definitely a deal breaker. I’m not going to install and reinstall the app everyday to find out the issue isn’t with my devices..Version: 5.0.0

Almost perfectI am so happy that this tech exists. I’m sure it will only get better from here. Works great if you’re away from home a lot. The only trouble I’ve had with it, is that it will randomly not be able to re-connect to your console, after (as little as 5 minutes prior) being connected. If this issue was fixed I will be a very happy gamer..Version: 6.5.0

Not greatDoesnt work off wifi, even with a stable comnection.Version: 5.5.0

No goodThanks sony for updating the app and not fixing the issue. People on iphones CANNOT connect to ps5 using mobile data. Why can't you focus on this issue?.Version: 6.5.5

Very picky with what devices you can use, completely unusable in any place where it would be useful.I use data constantly because I don’t live where working or school would offer a) a good signal being that it becomes blocked immediately or b) there’s no signal at all. not to mention that in public places, this is useless. if the point is to help pass time, why make it only work in a place that’s so specific, on such a specific type of phone, that works in no place that would be useful, and would only work AT your own house or perhaps if you happened to have a godly wifi connection when you’re on break for 5 minutes. oh and I’ve seen countless complaints about 8+’s, so I suppose I’m screwed. Not to mention how odd it seems to need to *downgrade*, most apps like to talk about needing an X or so, but a 7/iPad??? What??? Hopefully this is fixed soon, I would love to see this idea fully fleshed out..Version: 1.0

Could not read my buttons on the controller. (Played on iPhone 11 Pro MAX)I’m just gonna give this a 2 star review because I did not test more than 2 games. The first game I played was ghost of Tsushima and get this: I COULD NOT EVEN PRESS THE ATTACK BUTTON. My PS4 DualShock controller works just fine but for some reason I’m ghost of Tsushima I could not get my bow out because the L2 button was not working and I could not swipe up on the pad or in any other directions for some reason. But what I will say is that it runs fine and did not bother me at all. For some reason tho the square, circle, swipe up down and left on the pad and the L2 button would not even work so I could not even play the game. All I was able to do was walk crouch and that’s it. I could not even RUN. Again, I played ghost of Tsushima. If there’s a reason the buttons are not working, someone please let me know..Version: 2.0.1

Rather useless without controller support or large screenI was excited about this - finally I can stream my console to my phone. Welcome to the 21st century I thought. Nope. I used it just once and with the known ‘second account workaround’ where you can actually get the controller to work with it. However I still don’t rate the app highly. I have an 8+ and still found the screen rather small - so I’d only recommend if you have an iPad. Why call it ‘Remote Play’ when it is not really possible to play games with any decent experience? If they enable controller support it would get 4-5 stars. Until then don’t bother..Version: 1.0

Bad connectionNot worth it! it will constantly crash whenever you’re playing games from your PS4 or PS5 and you would need to keep on connecting back. Unless they fix that issue don’t waste your time with this app!.Version: 6.5.0

AWFULDIDN’T EVEN LET ME SIGN IN! DON’T GET THIS! >:(.Version: 6.5.0

RemotePlay is trash.Great concept but there’s a lot to improve on. It seems that despite my continuously strong and fast internet connection, the PS4RemotePlay app constantly disconnects me from the PS4. This occurs for both the iPhone and Mac versions on the app. The disconnection happens every couple of minutes and then takes a few minutes to reconnect; allowing for less than optimal gameplay. Another issue is that when using a controller through Bluetooth, some of the buttons don’t even register when you press them. I constantly have trouble trying to use the touchpad and PlayStation home button on the PS4 controller. These issues were not relevant when I was connected directly to the console, however they seem to occur whenever I try to use the RemotePlay apps. I’m sure there are many other issues. If Sony really care about their consumers, they will fix these issues so that we can experience optimal gameplay while we are away from our consoles. Great concept, trash application..Version: 2.0.0

Very glitchy even on good wifiIt’s a great idea, however the limitations of frame rates is too bad as well as the connection is quite bad even on GB internet.Version: 6.5.0

Not much pointThe overall app seems fine, But I don’t understand the point of forcing Wi-Fi in 2019 as mobile plans these days include mass amounts of data if not unlimited, And 4G speeds can sometimes be faster than some broadband speeds. Would love to see a mobile data option added.Version: 1.0

Good but also badIt’s a great app and idea but the onscreen buttons response time is way to slow playing the walking dead on my ps5 but can’t move the toggles on time to where it needs to be if you have a dual sense it probs works better but I don’t have one atm so it’s only useful for watching tv and to control my ps5 but as for playing games it’s useless and yes I have top internet speeds and yes I’m using latest iPhone and iOS . If you could just make the onscreen controller work better it would be fantastic.Version: 4.5.0

OkishTo be honest, i quite like the idea of having a remote play app for my Ps4 as i can just play from anywhere in the house close to my playstation on my phone. When you start the app, it says ‘This app can be used when far away from the playstation to play anywhere and anytime’ but i can only use the app at certain distances. I really think you should improve this, so that you can play with the controller on your phone. For this to work, i have an algorithm which could work; 1. Playstation can stay off 2. Have the app downloaded and sign into your PSN account 3. Put the controller into bluetooth connect mode(Playstation and share button at the same time(hold) and wait till flashing blue), then DS4 appears on screen and you tap it. 4. Choose your game to play, (use data for games that require WiFi if not connected to any) and play..Version: 1.0

Only use for casual play! This is a good dare i say great feature. However its prone to severe desync, input lag on a wide scale from barely noticeable to complete loss of input for a period of time. This app is best used when competitive or timing is not an issue. ie don’t be using this for Tdm multiplayer or Elden ring/ dark souls boss fights where parry or timing is everything. If you are mindlessly traversing a level or driving aimlessly about and there is little to no chance serious concentration being needed then brilliant. But if you are trying to defeat Spawn of Ogdo Bogdo in Jedi Survivor you may get lucky but more likely a mixture of desync or loss of controller input will hit you at the worst moment..Version: 6.0.0

Good idea, but felt rather let down!I’ve played Remote Play via my MacBook Pro & always found it a good temporary fix for wanting to play your PS4 account away from home. So I was quite excited when this launched. However without a legitimate way of using your PS4 controller, I find the execution of this app rather pointless. Sure there’s a way of being able to use the controller by setting up another account on your PS4 to log into, then transferring to your main account by pressing the PS button on your controller, although very hit & miss to whether it’ll work or not in my experience. If you could use the controller with it from outset this would be a fantastic app, but until then it’s a waste of time!.Version: 1.0

CrashingCan’t open the app at all it just keeps crashing or can’t even open at all please help.Version: 6.0.0

Stutter on iphone 11Using iphone 11 but the dropped frames are very apparent to the point here it just stutters a little too much to make it enjoyable. I have a PS4 pro connected to the router via ethernet cable. I tend to play at approx 1.5 metres away from the router meaning I shouldn’t have these issues. A lot of other people say the remote play worked better on iphone 7 than it does on more modern iphones. I find it works better on my vita! Pretty sure this is compatibility issues than can be sorted if sony attempt to update the app more regularly..Version: 3.0.0

No controller supportWhats the point.Version: 1.0

Will not connect via local networkThe latest update has broken this app, I used to play remotely all the time but now the app will not even look on the network for my PS4. Then it gives me the error that the app does not have permission to use the local network and to enable it in settings, which is funny because it is already enabled in settings. Can’t give the app 0 stars, so 1 it is..Version: 3.0.0
