✓ Some fun updates to the classic game, but of course it’s Weak link is aggressive monetisationNot played dr Mario in about 20 years but it’s still got what it takes to be amazing fun! Only real downside is, as always the freemium model. They’ve really don’t their product testing with the freemium model, so it’ll let you fly through the first 300 or so levels pretty easily to get nice and hooked, then it all starts slowing down and becomes a bit less fun, then a lot less fun as you have to wait for lives, more and more levels require power ups, etc and of course the premium currency is truely bad value (a few dollars just to try again for example). So I stopped. It was a fun game for a couple of weeks so I rate it highly for that. The problem is that it’s so aggressively monetised it doesn’t make any sense to buy any of the gems, so once the difficulty ramps up you either have to deal with cool down timers and spend a day or two on each level or just give up. It’s sad really because I would be happy to pay 10 bucks or whatever here and there as I enjoyed the game, but they just don’t make it feel like it’s worth spending anything unfortunately..Version: 2.2.1

✓ ShameHuge loading times, aggressive monetisation, instability and no offline play make this a massive flop. Gameplay and level designs are great but certainly not special enough to put up with half the rubbish that comes with it. ✓ A classic + a cash grabLove the design and really reminiscent of the original Dr Mario, graphics are cute and kitschy and levels are actually challenging. Don't understand the decision to be a pay to play - just charge for the game, you’re Nintendo, people will pay! Using a life for successfully completed levels is nonsense. I’m probably going to delete this game as coins earned are meaningless and the only way to gain lives is to pay which is sad because I was SO excited for the game. ✓ Fix the issues!Not a bad game. Stands out from the rest. Not something you’d get bored of easily. Only annoying thing is the amount of bugs and issues there are. Often I’ve gone to play it and error messages have come up. It’s not just my phone either as my husband has it and he has the same issues at the same time as me. Seems to be every few days. There was also an issue a week after it came out where it came up with an error and forced me to reinstall. When I reinstalled it my progress had been lost despite being logged into my Nintendo account and presume it had been saved. ✓ Seriously Nintendo!?!?I love Nintendo games, and I really loved the doctor mario franchise, so I was thrilled to see this but it’s way to hard for a Nintendo game, and I can’t get passed level 10 and I have completed darker side from Super Mario Oddessey! I really think this game should be a bit more then a 4+ why not make it 9+? ✓ Very good but very trickyI like Dr Mario world because it features many different characters and puzzles and I think that especially at this time we have some good daily login bonus’s like I remember getting Dr Fire Mario! That said I really do not like the gacha as it is super hard to get the things that you need and it is super hard to get doc staffing which is quite a big downfall for me! ✓ I want to give this 5★s, but...This is a fantastically designed and implemented classic. It looks great, is simple yet has a lot of depth, and potential for learning and high skill play, however the network demands are unreasonable. I have a very fast internet connection for work, which in off hours I use to play multiplayer games much more demanding on hardware then Dr. Mario should be yet, Dr. Mario always struggles. I’ve lost hundreds of competitive points in a single sitting to just random disconnects where I forfeit suddenly and inexplicably in the middle of a match. What’s more surprising is how often it freezes in a single player match. Do they really need an incredibly fast and continuous connection when I play by myself? An additional issue, potentially due to the constant search for connection, is how fast this game drains the phone battery. There need to be some serious fixes to the fundamental architecture running this game before it can reach its full potential... which honestly could easily be five solid stars..Version: 1.0.5

✓ The Ebenezer Scrooge of handing out rewards.I have completed all stages available and am waiting for new content to arrive. So I have completed all of the timed stages. That was fun. Now that I’m done with that, I went back to world 1 to try and get all of the remaining stars. Managed that. This unlocked a bonus stage. Considering how difficult it is to unlock the bonus stage, the reward for completion was vastly underwhelming. So much so that I fail to see the point in trying to 100% the remaining worlds. Would it kill you to give away an hour of free lives for completing the stage? Or some diamonds? Or a bunch of tickets? This game is the Ebenezer Scrooge of rewards. Very unbecoming of a Nintendo title. Whilst reward occurrences have improved, it’s still very stringent. No heart refund for successfully completing a stage for the second time or more is particularly jarring. Makes going back to earlier levels even more unappealing. Which is a shame when you consider that this is still the best version of Dr Mario ever made..Version: 1.1.2
✓ Ruined by network requirement & micro transactionsWas mega excited to see Dr MARIO was heading to the store.........then it actually arrived!!! 😞. Like too many other games it has been ruined by the requirement for network, which means can’t play on tube etc on way to work; also the waiting for hearts, and more over priced micro transactions than you could throw a Goomba at. ✓ Constant server connection requiredGameplay wise this game is excellent. But it’s borderline unplayable if there’s any hint of a dropped connection to the internet (so forget playing this on the train), or if the developer’s server creaks under the pressure of the volume of players, which it’s doing ever more frequently lately. For whatever reason it requires a constant connection to the server, and when it’s interrupted the game simply stops. What’s worse is, if it can’t re-establish the connection, the session times out and you lose one of your ‘hearts’. I’ve had to replay several levels due to this maddening issue..Version: 1.0.3
✓ Don’t playThe game feels like it’s paid a win in someway shape or form, because each character has a different ability that will help in certain stages but hinder them and others, once you choose one of the three characters in the beginning of the game, you cannot select them again, you are permanently stuck with that character. For example, if you select Mario, you’re stuck with Mario until you can get another doctor, which you can only get through the staffing option, but that requires you to either collect 4000 coins, 40 diamonds, or use a staffing ticket, which even then you’re more likely to get an assistant and that same assistant multiple times over then to get another doctor. In short, the main mom doesn’t feel fair in anyway shape or form half the time, especially the challenge stages. Oh, and versus mode? Absolutely terrible. Extremely unbalanced, and even more unfair than the main story mode. I was so excited for this game, only to be disappointed at the very end after was released. ✓ Fun game but way too greedy– Game requires an internet connection, cannot be played offline; if you lose connection during a stage you’ll get booted off and lose a life. – Sometimes on pausing a stage and leaving the app, then returning, the game will “reconnect” and put you back where you were in the stage, but on finishing the stage, it will freeze up and not give you credit for the win; you’ll also lose a life. – If you go back to stages you’ve already completed in order to get 3 stars, even if you win the stage you lose a life. The developers should take a look at Playrix’s gameplay model. Plenty of special events with opportunities to earn unlimited lives for a short time; instead of “winning” a life back when you beat a level (and even then only on the first time), you only lose a life if you lose a level; lots more opportunities to win power-ups. I happily dump money into Playrix micro-transactions on a regular basis because the game has their reward system figured out and it keeps me coming back to their games..Version: 1.0.3

✓ The game is great, but I have issues with the wifi.The wifi in this game is broken, like when the wifi stops the level, and starts to do the loading screen for a few seconds, the timer keeps going causing a game over. Also it was hard for me to find any matches against other players and most of the time they disconnect. ✓ I wish I could give it ZERO stars!The latest update has made it even worse. I can’t even open the program anymore. It keeps crashing on the home screen. Now I can’t even put an enquire in as I can’t open the app. FIX IT!!! It is so glitchy. There needs to be an overhaul to make it work properly. ✓ Slow annoyingExtremely slow and even I have a really good mobile internet and even at home a very fast WiFi yet it’s still freezing and dropping me off all the time. 50% of my time is waiting for the game to play it or trying to enjoy it!!! ✓ Fun...if I could playIt continually has communication error messages both during gameplay and just trying to load the game. I was hoping the recent maintenance time they had would have fixed this issue, but it did not. Lost many lives because it will have this error while playing a level. Sometimes after the “ready, go!” to start the level, it will take quite awhile for a capsule to show up in its little window to start the game. Update: since my last review, there was maintenance done to the app, and it was better but for a very short time. It continually will show the buffering symbol during a game and then tell me there was a communication error or read error and take me back to the home screen. It will not load any battle games for me to play, and the current level I am on I have already won twice but will not allow me to progress to the next level. IF by some chance it loads a battle game for me, mid-battle it will buffer, then tell me I’ve lost the game. It’s so frustrating that I almost want to delete the game from my phone. ✓ Graphics are cool!The graphics are brilliant, and you couldn’t improve upon them. However the gameplay is... I wouldn’t say it's very much like Candy Crush, but you have to wait to get 'Hearts' to do a level. You know, like Candy Crush. Why can't you make it so we don’t have to wait for lives?? ✓ Pay to WinA lot of the positive reviews must be from people who only played to first 20-30 levels, or who are incentivized to write a good review. This game is designed to cause you to buy items to either 3 star or even pass some levels- like the bonus levels. Admittedly, I don’t even mind the challenge of the difficult timed bonus levels if I had more than 5 tries. This game relies far too heavily on items than it does game play, and it really takes away from the great platform for Dr Mario that they’ve created. This game translates nicely to mobile, and I would have rather payed for the game, and had it based around timed levels and difficulty. I’ve played my share of panda pop and candy crush, and after the first two worlds, I observed that this game pushes the need for items a lot more than its predecessors. Two star rating based on the devs holding back on design and challenge in exchange for pushing items and micro transactions. One star because of all the shills giving it five. Would easily be five star if released as a real game with challenging levels. I would’ve paid $15-$20 at least for this game had it been challenge based and completely unlocked. ✓ Versus game is riggedI used to enjoy playing the versus games against other characters, having my fair share of wins and losses. Until the point where I began having piles and piles of viruses thrown at me constantly and I would lose my tier and my ranking score, not to mention uncoordinated capsules that seem to glitch from where I was supposed to put it. At one point I was on the verge of going way down to tier 3 from 5 and SOMEHOW matched me up with someone who came from tier 6 while I was shot down to tier 4 because of my previous opponents, and shot me down even further. There was no way I was lost 9 times in a row, only until I realized the game has glitching the capsules and putting me with an unfair match. I could just forget about the versus mode and go to the stage… oh WAIT, no… I can’t… because trying to find the HiDdEn CoIns are nearly impossible and paying 10 diamonds won’t help! I once cleared the ENTIRE STAGE of viruses and capsules and none of the coins showed up and I lost. Idk the coins MUST be in my own house right? Smh. Waste of a heart and 10 diamonds that I will never pay to get more of because they’ll all just go to waste. ✓ Dr MICRO-TRANSACTIONS!Hope you like wait timers and outrageously expensive IAP! 30 Diamonds for ONE HOUR of unlimited play?! 20 Diamonds cost $2.79 IAP so 30 would cost approx $4.19!!! (Canadian App Store) Thats right, OVER $4 AN HOUR, to play this more than twice for free during that time. Hearts take 30 min to recharge! You can have a max of 5 hearts therefore 2.5 hours of waiting for five hearts?! OUTRAGEOUS! I have been playing Dr Mario since it’s original Game Boy release back in 1990. I would have happily paid a premium price for a fully unlocked game. Shame, there actually is a great puzzle game under that disgustingly greedy IAP/Timer system. ✓ Could’ve been so much betterI have played this from day 1 almost a year ago and it’s been frustrating to say the least. I grew up with dr Mario on nes and all kinds of Tetris games and this one has to be the most frustrating to play with. The controls are not accurate, the rubber banding is bad, the upgrades are costly or just loot boxes in disguise - it’s worst than random. The single player game is unplayably slow to start. ✓ Great, but not great...(should of made a Switch game instead)I was excited for this game to come out and had fun playing this for a few days until I notice a few things that Nintendo did differently. There are micro transactions everywhere in this! And trying to get doctors and assistants is a joke! It more like a gacha machine where the doctors are the most rarest to get and the assistants are common to obtain. You need ALOT of luck to make progress. The game is really trying to get you to spend money but most of us don’t want to spend too much. Nintendo should use the strategy that they have in Pocket Camp. Allow players to earn diamonds from certain levels and have a better log-in bonus that increases when you sign in everyday. At lease Pocket Camp is more forgiving than this. Also if there are other doctors in this game that were not previously in the franchise, than it’s not really a Dr. Mario game. ✓ Buggy, Slow and Constantly CrashesThis is the first review I’m leaving for an app on the AppStore. I’m a huge MARIO fan but am left rather disappointed with this game. I’ve played numerous rounds in Versus mode to see the app crash and close before my eyes, which ultimately makes me lose coins earned. ✓ Has potential but very buggyThe problem with Dr Mario World is that it’s full of bugs, and these bugs make the gameplay incredibly frustrating. For example, sometimes you can move the capsules where you want to, other times you cannot. The problem seems especially bad when you try to move parts of popped capsules. Another thing is when an iOS notification, such as an alarm, goes off on your phone, and the level often freezes. The background patterns then persist, but the gameplay stops and the screen is completely unresponsive. The only option is to kill the app and then open it again. The dependency on an internet connection is way over the top and sometimes it takes a good 30 seconds while it speaks to the server (even with 300Mbps wifi). Then there are the Doctor’s Orders that tell you you have a reward when you complete a task, but you have no idea what that reward is. And sometimes you are playing in Versus Mode, with very few capsules/viruses at the top of the screen, and the game suddenly tells you you have lost but provides no explanation whatsoever. This game has potential but I would have thought a big company like Nintendo’s would have a better QA department. I hope future versions are better..Version: 1.0.3

✓ Ruined by greedAs a long-time fan of Nintendo I have to say that I expected more. If there’s one thing I cannot stand it’s this absurd model where developers nickel-and-dime you do death. They could simply ask some reasonable amount for the game upfront, but they’d rather you play the slot machine they have disguised as a game. Buying their version of in-game currency is what you’ll be doing, and even if you spent $30 your experience will be mediocre. Do you want to play for 60 minutes, that will cost you $5. In order to play this game, uninterrupted, on say a 5 hour flight, it will cost you about $20. Why bother with that? This game isn’t good enough to warrant that sort of cost. You’re playing a match-3 game for cryin’ out loud; there much better games for less that let you pay up front and be done. There is no value here. I only gave 2 stars in the hopes that Nintendo will return to what they do best - making great games that don’t take ridiculous advantage of customers. ✓ Not up to Nintendo StandardsHaving owned the Switch and iPhone for a number of years, I have a good idea of what both platforms are capable of. This App seems very overhyped for what is essentially a slow Tetris remake. Pros: Graphics and sound are impressive and in keeping with Nintendo’s previous standards across all platforms. ✓ Fun game with a few annoyancesIt’s a fun game. All the quirks of Nintendo you’d expect. But several things are annoying. Only having 5 lives which get replenished after a period of time ranging from 30 mins to a few hours. CONSTANT network issues. Why does the game need to constantly be online? For versus mode I understand but surely offline play should be possible for single player. The game is constantly having connectivity issues too. I’m in WiFi so it’s definitely an issue on Nintendos side. Sort your servers out Nintendo! Some of the timed levels are way too hard. Almost impossible to complete. Therefore that’s all your lives used up. The power-ups are all pretty lame so far. Hopefully these issues are early teething problems. Super Mario Run had similar issues in the beginning but got better over time. Pull your finger out Nintendo and fix the issues that everyone is complaining about..Version: 1.0.2

✓ VERY glitchy, you will lose lives and points (& $$)I love console-version Dr Mario and was super excited to see this app. Now if it would only work consistently... I have lost lives, levels and points every single day since I started playing it because the game gets stuck or all of a sudden kicks you out. You will receive error message after error message after error message. Extremely frustrating. And every single day at 11 pm EST it just won’t work. Seems like mid-afternoon has the same problem, too. It won’t log back in or connect for quite a while. More error messages. In fact, I’m writing this review right now because I haven’t been able to get in to play due to error messages for the last 20 mins. 🙄 Aside from all that, it’s fun and is nostalgic. ✓ I wish I was playing this game right nowI am very hooked on this game and I only stopped playing to write this review because I am now out of lives because of the frequent communication errors I am experiencing. A very stable internet connection is required to play this game without constant interruptions from these communication error pop up messages. When you start a stage in this Dr. Mario, one “play” is subtracted at the beginning and when you’re in the middle of the stage sometimes communication errors will pop up and kick you out of the game but the life you used to start it is still used up and not given back. This is annoying as the lives are not free and cost either in game currency (which costs real money) or time. In addition, sometimes you can earn a few extra lives in levels on top of the one you are granted for succeeding as compensation for using one to begin, but with slow internet, these bonuses will not be granted to you. ✓ The Loot LlamaThe versus mode is rigged. Your not playing against real people. The fake people can have an advantage while you don’t and the other way around. So basically what I am saying is the game knows who is going to win before you play. Some of the characters you get don’t help you at all and they all should help you a lot because you worked hard to get them. All I am saying is it’s not that hard to make a good MARIO game. I am not saying great but everybody likes MARIO so as long as you make an ok MARIO game people will play it. Let me tell you that this game is trash and with other games out there that are more fun such as Fortnite why would you waste your time or money playing this game. ✓ Great game but plenty of issuesThe game itself is great but there are one too many technical issues that shows they’ve clearly not done a full test before release. Loading times are terrible regardless of connection, the game will often lock up if it it’s interrupted by another app or call etc... all annoying and hopefully fixed in the next update..Version: 1.0.2
✓ Some IssuesThis game is ok, though there are some reasonably significant annoyances which stop the rating being 4 or 5 stars. 1. As it is an always online game, it is a mortal sin for it to regularly pause as it tries to reconnect. I have a very stable connection, the issue is game design. It is even worse when it doesn’t reconnect - you lose a heart and your progress. 2. The fact that you always have to be online to play. Micro-transactions are the approach here. They’re not too bad, but again, I’d be willing to pay $10 upfront without the micros. 3. Shifting split capsules is simply clunky and slow. Very frustrating. 4. I’ve nearly finished world 5. It takes a long time to earn gold (4K needed for new staff). There is a risk here that this will end up being pay to win. 5. The always online requirement is almost, and I say almost, killing this game. It is so slow to boot up, disconnects etc. It really is amateur hour in game design. 6. Finally, the amount of times this game goes into maintenance (where you cannot play it) is disgraceful. For goodness sake, get it right before you release it. You expect better from Nintendo. ✓ Online is basically an elaborate dice rollDr Mario World is a super fun game. The offline gameplay (although buggy) is based on a solid concept that presents both strategic and interesting choices. The online game however is a minefield of seemingly random rules and a purely pay to win ethos. Predicting who will win a match online can be summed up in one simple formula winner = who has spent the most money on assistants With the latest updates including ‘specialists’ this now applies 2 fold with the winner being also whoever has spent the most money on a wealth of doctors. Grinding through the single player campaign gets you far as I myself can attest to but unfortunately the online game is not based on skill. It’s based on who has the best equipment (and hoping you don’t get a weird bug when placing capsules). Regardless of how good you are you can get multiple waves of attack with no warning that tip the balance so far in favour of your opponent that it makes the game unbearable. This obviously can work in your favour too but it makes it less of a game and more of an elaborate dice roll that takes any and all enjoyment out of the battle game TL:DR - The randomness of the online experience COMPLETELY RUINS what is a great game....Version: 1.4.1

✓ Not as polished as Nintndo's other gamesThis game was co-developed with a company different from the folks that bought us previous games like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Super Mario Run, and… it kinda shows. There doesn't seem to be that sense of Nintendo quality in this game; it feels like a generic mobile game with a Dr. Mario sticker slapped on its face. Everything in the game feels very… static, or dull. As far as gameplay goes, it's… basically Dr. Mario meets Candy Crush. You match three in a row, under certain constraints (e.g. limited pills, limited time). Not too bad… You start with a maximum of five hearts in story mode, which act as your stamina. Each heart takes 30 minutes to recover, but clearing a level successfully gives you a heart, so you can actually blitz through everything. Online play can be a train wreck. If your connection's just a little bit flaky, you might get disconnected from your rival and forfeit. I've also had numerous instances where I just seemingly lose from nowhere without getting disconnected, because apparently while I was still moving my piece. Thanks. 😒 When it comes to building your team up, Dr. Mario World uses the same "gacha" system we all know and love. It's incredibly tedious to obtain enough coins for one "staffing" to get more/better characters though… I guess that's how you gotta make your money. 🤷♂️ In all, there's a lot of room for improvement, but you can still get some enjoyment from this free-to-play game..Version: 1.0.5
✓ Fun game that doesn’t require money to be enjoyableDr. Mario is a great game to play. You don’t have to spend money if you don’t want too and the experience is still pretty fun. There are only a few bonus levels that I’ve seen so far that can only be completed with power ups that cost real money but everything else can be done at no cost. The game is fun and has new weekly challenges to keep it fresh but with hundreds of regular levels that shouldn’t ever be a problem. The one complaint I have is the versus mode which is keeping this app from getting more stars. The versus mode is completely broken. There is no rhyme or reason to whether you win or not. It seems skill is completely irrelevant. You will win a few rounds in a row and the lose several in a row. The game seems to keep you from getting a fair shot after letting you win a few rounds. If you’re paired with an opponent who is forth to fifty points behind you then it’s almost a guaranteed loss. This really needs to be looked into..Version: 1.3.6

✓ Glitches too much**Editing my review to drop it down to 2 stars after it glitched on me 4 different times today causing me to lose the lives, progress on the level, and the booster I had used. I’m very close to deleting this app. Also, when you open it now it spams you with all these notifications and things you can buy. You are supposed to get a daily bonus for logging in, which randomly happens...you never get it daily. This isn’t your Dr Mario from before, so if you wanted the old version don’t bother with this one. If you wanted one that has a mix of Super Mario World with some added challenges, then you may like this version. I haven’t decided if I like it because of the constant glitches in the game. For example, I just opened it to play & clicked to start & it froze and timed out so I lost a life. That isn’t fair. The game can’t recover from any issue it has and you’ll lose your progress on that level (it’s happened way too much) and you lose the life. I also don’t like that I’m collecting all these coins but can’t trade them for things I can use in the levels or for more lives. It wants me to spend money. Why? What’s the point of the coins? ✓ Not really Dr. MarioI was really excited when I heard Dr. Mario was coming to mobile as I love the games, but then I got this. This is NOT Dr. Mario. There is definitely some enjoyment to get out of this game but I just feel a bit disappointed that it doesn’t use traditional mechanics. I understand that accessibility to all gamers was essential for this game, considering that it is a mobile game, but to me it isn’t good enough to warrant the Dr. Mario licence; aside from the pills and the viruses and Dr. Mario himself, there are next to no similarities with other games of the IP. This is obviously a side-game to the franchise but it doesn’t appeal to me personally. ✓ Super Fun, But Not Without Some Irritating GlitchesI’ve been obsessed with Dr. Mario since forever, so I was super excited about this app! It’s massively addicting and I don’t mind paying for some diamonds so I can get extra pills if I really can’t pass a stage within about 5 tries. Getting new characters for doctors and assistants is awesome. And so is competing in Versus to try and get to the next tier. What gets annoying is when I have hearts in my inbox that say they’ll expire in 13 days and then the next day when I go to use them they’re gone!! Also, after I got to Tier 3 earlier in the week maintenance caused me to not be able to pick my 3 boxes as a prize, so I got nothing for winning my 7 rounds. Other than not getting my “prizes” that I’m owed, it’s a super fun and addicting game that my husband and I compete at (and I win) all throughout the day. ✓ Good but not ready fo releaseSo far the gameplay has been fun mainly due to strategy and less rng that are seen in so many carbon copies. The use of assistants are a good idea but so far they seem to be utterly useless in single player which brings me to versus. Versus is good but needs a lot of work. The assistants are actually have a considerable effect but they are hard to get. An easy way to sort this would be to half the price or make coin rewards from quests. MAKE SINGLE PLAYER OFFLINE. We don’t need online for a single player level, just let us play the game. And finally, this is something I don’t know if Nintendo are at fault or if this is just the quality of my phone or Apple but multiple times in league during games the app freezes and sends me to my home screen. Then when I try and reopen it the screen is just grey, forcing me to fully close the app and reopen it. Please Nintendo at least give us offline play. ✓ Rip off single player modeI love Nintendo so so much but they’ve taken really awful advice and released one of the worst examples of freemium mobile gaming I’ve seen. The game itself is great: your standard 3-match formula with the usual Nintendo twists make this 25+ year old game feel nicely fresh. The campaign mode is currently 4 worlds but will no doubt expand to Candy Crush levels soon enough. Online play it fantastic. It’s hectic and fun and as addictive as Tetris multiplayer is. The great news is that this is unlimited play (at the moment) and you can earn timed rewards. The problem is the expense. For campaign Mode you’re armed with 5 hearts - with each being one play. If you lose a game you lose a life.. if you win you get your heart back. For more hearts you pay. The cheapest is about £1.99 worth 20 hearts or £5 for 60mins unlimited play. Then to unlock characters you’re looking at roughly £5 to get you going. I’ve not yet ventured far enough into the game to see if any characters unlock through natural play ... I can’t afford the additional hearts! This freemium model just feels wrong from Nintendo. We hold them in high regard and don’t really expect them to overtly rip you off unlike many other freemium games and larger devs (eg EA) and it genuinely hurts to see them throwing this out there..Version: 1.0.1
✓ An okay Dr. Mario...when it actually works.I’ve had a decent amount of time on this game, and quite frankly there are some nagging issues. - The game constantly hangs up or freezes, this apparently has been made worse with the recent update. It’s especially annoying that you don’t get your coins or points back when this happens either (which I was in the middle of a timed challenge stage when one cod example of this issue was prevalent) -Its a typical fee-to-pay game in single player mode. ✓ Fun gameNintendo, you guys always make fun games, and I get that this was free (and I’d totally be willing to drop 10 bucks for the game) and I’m super happy about that, but collecting diamonds is way to hard, and buying diamonds is way to expensive. You can’t collect items unless you get really lucky, or have actual money to burn through, and coin collection is tough but can be fun. So if it’s possible maybe making it so it’s easier to collect coins, and to collect power ups. I’d be willing to “pay” for the game if you’d do that. Also it’s a nice touch having the life bar, but there are to little lives so they run out very quick. Now on the other hand, the game is very well put together. It is one of my favorite puzzle games at the moment top 5 at least. The music is fun (could be more variety) and the levels are very fun and sometimes super challenging. As for versus mode it’s actually a blast and very fast paced. Maybe touch up on a couple things, and add a few things to it to make it more fun, but either way I really enjoy the game, and if any actually reads this and is curious about getting it, don’t let the cons deceive you, download the game and start destroying those viruses because this game is a blast!.Version: 1.0.2

✓ Some parts ok, some not.Ok I like the game overall and the game play. I even like the changes from original in that sense too. But I have a couple of issues. One, and I have noticed a lot having these issues; there is a major issue with loading errors and things during the middle of levels and it often takes away resources when you swipe out and come back to it, which is truly ridiculous. I mean it is a brand new game. Also, I do not like that I am stuck with my doctor. I feel like if it gives you 3 choices at the beginning, you should be able to switch between those 3. It is unfair, that you are stuck with your choice especially since maybe you didn’t understand at first and since the skills build so slowly. And to my understanding that’s the only way to get more I think? Hopefully y’all can get bugs worked out soon, otherwise I might not keep playing. But for now I will be patient. ✓ I’m tornThis was the game I went to every time I wanted to play a game. Since the first day it came out. I’m on some ridiculously high level now. But, I’m stuck. And the only way to pass it would be to pay (real money) for upgrades on the doctor. I have a lot of doctors and assistants and feel I’m fairly good at the game play. But, why are these higher levels SO HARD. I know it’s supposed to get harder as you level up and all, but come on. I’ve been stuck on level 760 for WEEKS! WEEKS! Playing very very often. It makes me not want to play. I’ve been choosing other games to play instead. And this new Doctor Summit thing is such a waste of lives. There should be plenty of levels to play without adding unrealistic levels to try and beat before some random time limit removes them and adds new, different levels you can’t get 3 stars in. I feel I’m torn between continuously trying to pass levels I know will take me days or weeks, and just giving up on the whole game completely. And don’t get me started on the VS portion of the game. ✓ Character Skills and Leveling UpAs I said in a previous review, this game is addicting and fun to play when I’m able to breeze through levels. Even despite the numerous bugs, I’m somewhat able to enjoy it. However, the whole premise of leveling up a character’s skill is really stupid to me. You mean to tell me I can ONLY level up my doctor if I’m lucky enough to get them from the randomized draw on multiple occasions? Not to mention tickets are rare and earning 4000 coins takes a while, especially since you can only earn max 150 coins per regular level. I feel like the doctors should have an HP meter. I’ve been using Luigi for more than 100 levels and I find it stupid that i haven’t been able to level him up since the only way I can is by getting him via coins or a ticket (and I’ve used several tickets and spent lots of coins in that 100 level timespan, but never got him a second time). It would make the skill thing more convenient and honestly better. And besides the randomization of doctors/assistants is dumb anyway, and what’s the point of the roulette even spinning if the icon will always land on the question mark?? There’s so many things that could be improved to better this game...but this is only version 1.0.5....so I’ll try my best to be patient and wait for better future updates..Version: 1.0.5

✓ In app purchases are criminalThe game is really fun, but early on you will hit a point where—unless you are a robot or professional gamer beyond playing just casually—you will have to purchase diamonds. The cheapest in-app purchase is $1.99 and if you’re stuck on a level, it’s basically enough to continue once or twice. On the timed levels, a continue gives you maybe 15 seconds. I’ve basically accepted I can’t beat the game because I can’t afford to do so. Alternatively, one can just play until they’re skills improve, but waiting for new hearts take 30 minutes. So, get stuck on a hard level and you have to wait a half a. Hour to try again. By then, you’ve forgotten any sort of strategy. Although the game is fun, just writing this review makes me realize how sick the pay structure makes me feel. In fact, when I’m done with the diamonds I did get suckered into buying, I’m likely deleting this from my phone. I may as well flush my money on lottery tickets. ✓ Disappointing Nintendo money schemeI was so excited to play Dr Mario having recently rekindled my love on the Nintendo Switch with this classic! However I was so disappointed to find that Nintendo have put price tags on everything and have copied Candy Crush in so many areas. I was underwhelmed at first that the gameplay was slightly different to the original however, after playing the first few levels, you get used to it and it does make sense as a mobile version as opposed to console. Whilst game play itself is fine (considering), the limited lives after level 20 is sneaky and I think it’s disgusting that they’re trying to monetise this game after so many loyal fans support the Dr Mario World scheme. I think it’s disgusting and the game play isn’t even addictive enough to make me fall for it and wanna buy it anyway! Poor choice Nintendo, I think it’s a real shame..Version: 1.0.2
✓ Great game, still buggyThe game itself is super fun. I like the different levels, and switching up the objectives keeps it from getting too repetitive. However, it will often freeze up during play, no matter how strong the wifi. On versus rounds this is pretty much an automatic loss. On world rounds that aren't timed you can sometimes wait for the connection to come back, but if it doesn't, you lose a life. Since you have to pay real money for extra lives, this is a serious flaw in gameplay. Other issues I would like to see addressed: ~ The only way to get clear gems without paying for them is by opening the right box after winning 7 versus rounds. I would like to see more ways to win gems. ~ Nowhere on the app itself or its corresponding website can I find any info on gameplay or items. For example, in versus mode the characters have numbers next to them with no explanation of what they reference. I think possibly it indicates the power of that doctor's attack? But Bowser, which has a 4, will often lose to a character with a 1 or 2 so not really sure how it makes a difference. Also, is it possible to level up attacks? Can you change your doctor? The world may never know, because there is no game guide to be found. I know this game is new and they're still working through some of these issues, so I look forward to editing my review in the hopefully near future, before these annoyances put an end to my interest in the game..Version: 1.0.3
✓ Fun Match-3! But...TLDR: If you like “match-three-in-a-row” games, you will like this game. Right now I’ve encountered lots of bugs, but they’ll probably be figured out soon. I’ve been having a fun time with the beginning of this game. But I made it about 8 levels before I encountered a bug. (And not the kind I can destroy with the color pills). The bug made it impossible to continue the level, probably because I changed to a different app, but seemed to be fixed when I restarted the game. At level 9, I encountered another bug where I finished the level but it froze on the completion screen and I had to restart again. When I restarted it said I hadn’t cleared the level, thus I had to do it again even though I just beat it. At level 11, I encountered a bug that completely crashed the game. I’m not even sure what happened but it suddenly said “Your internet connection is unstable” (I’m connected to my home WiFi) but the level-up was displayed behind the error screen. I have really high hopes for this game, but as of right now I feel like I can’t play it because of these bugs. The game itself is a solid game, albeit a little... like every other matching mobile game just with Mario’s face on it. It has a straight forward match-3 gameplay we expect from Dr. Mario, but also some new twists I think fans will appreciate. Let’s hope it gets figured out soon!.Version: 1.0.1

✓ Latest update has ruined the dynamicSo you could play vs mode using your favourite specialist but no more - now the game arbitrarily elevates a group of specialists every week to have 20% higher attack speed than you and also increase their level by one, causing the effect of each attack to be amplified. The specialists rotate every week, so it basically makes you lose every game for a week because until maybe you’re lucky enough to have grinded the game enough to get one of the specialists in this weeks rotation. Getting the specialists is also completely arbitrary and nigh on impossible. I’ve been playing since day one and I have ONE of the five specialists in the first rotation - and there is a reason I don’t use it, I DON’T LIKE USING IT. This game update is the latest in a string of “improvements” to the game which completely bastardises the original game I downloaded. UNLESS THEY UNDO THIS CHANGE I CAN ONLY SAY DON’T DOWNLOAD!!!.Version: 1.4.0
✓ Internet needed / game didn’t sync1. Months after release and no huge updates such as offline play. There is NO reason such a basic game like this needs Internet OTHER THAN the diamond up-sell. Ridiculous. 2. I deleted the game to take a 1 week break while travelling and when I reinstalled it my game didn’t re-sync with Game Center or Facebook. I was in level 165. ✓ Update - Great game but...So, the latest update - fine on my iPhone X running iOS 13.1.2 but, on my sons iPad Mini that’s few years old more and can only run iOS 12.x, it no longer plays. Can’t imagine for one second that the game is now using iOS 13 specifics! ——————— It’s now got even worse, the game now hardly ever loads up when I’m on 4G (with a good signal), just not fun anymore. Love Nintendo but you’ve dropped the ball partnering with LINE & NHN. ———————— I like the game, it’s good fun and the learning curve to play is just right but, it takes an age to load. Either at home with a fast fibre line or using my 4G signal, it takes a long time to load up and then, with any dip in signal, it errors out. ✓ What happened?Game feels like it has taken a step back? Balancing seems worse since update and the play sensitivity seems cranked way up.. I feel like I’m doing lots of little micro corrections and making lots of mistakes because I’m not placing the pills where they need to go wasting valuable time, this wasn’t happening before?! I’ve dropped back from 1400+ points down to below 1000 in versus. Game feels slightly unplayable now.. Will stick to single player but feel slightly less keen on what was a decent game.. ✓ Not the best..Found the controls really annoying, they should have make it similar to the original where the pills would fall from the top and using a slider bar you control it's placement. I have big fingers so I can hardly see the pill when holding the pill down. Also I found the game to be really lackluster, dull and boring. Sorry nintnedo not this time I'm afraid..Version: 1.0.3
✓ A bit disappointedAnyone expecting to relive the old version from the Gameboy/NES will be highly disappointed. It’s a different game where instead of having dropping pills you need drag and tap the pills. Also it’s freemium, so it’s not skilled based.
