✓ Not goodI wrote a long 2-star review based on my experience with the Giro, but I’m knocking it down to 1 star after more recent experience. Was it possible to watch the Dauphiné on GCN+ in the US? I wouldn’t know from the app, because it showed links to watch all of the stage replays, but the Play button was missing! Just a gap between the << and >> buttons, which also didn’t work. So I watched on NBC Sports Gold and just assumed it wasn’t available. But other sources now say the Tour de Suisse *is* on GCN+ in the US, but I’m getting exactly the same thing as with the Dauphiné. Is it a software glitch or is it not available in this region? Who knows? The app sure won’t tell. Very disappointing..Room34Version: 1.259.0

✓ Tour de France... only on ur phoneAirplay is supported, but if you don’t have an Apple TV your completely out of luck. You just paid to watch pro bike races -ONLY- from your phone. There is no way to broadcast it from your phone to your tv unless you have an Apple TV. Chromecast? Nope. Apps for streaming? Nope. In the end I wonder why I paid when I just have to my my cable box record the races for replay anyways as it’s still the only way to watch on my tv. That being said the other features and content on the app are cool. I like how interactive they make everything, but at its core we’re paying for race coverage so they need to figure this out -fast-.WhîspVersion: 1.103.0

✓ Pitiful casting performanceThe content is great and I’m happy to pay for it but the app is a disgrace. Using Chromecast to watch it on TV is guaranteed to get me swearing and cursing. I usually watch highlights on catchup on iPad or phone because there is no control over video on my TV. No pause, fast forward, stop when casting. These are supposed to work through the TV remote but this is hit and miss to say the least. Video quality on the TV is appalling and regularly just freezes altogether, while the app on tablet or phone doesn’t suffer from this at all. ✓ Don’t waste your money!It was a good idea but doesn’t work, audio wasn’t working on first stage of the tour, second day I can’t even log in, they tel me to delete app a few times and log back in finally get back in then blank screen. ✓ Pretty average for a paid service.Stream bit relate often drops to really low resolution when you watch live races. I renewed my subscription to watch the next race and have a receipt form but it isn’t showing up on my account and won’t let me login. Sent a help request saying what had happened and that I had logged in and about of the app and uninstalled and reinstalled it. Got a generic response telling me to do what I had already done they Cleary don’t read support requests. Feels like the quality of a free service but you have to pay. ✓ Content is great but the app not so muchI love the content and racing coverage but the app is frustratingly hard to use and doesn’t do simple things like remember what videos you’ve watch or resume if you stop before it’s done. Also, for RaceTV if your following a series (I.e pick a tour) there is no way to get all the videos or subscribe to try and keep up. The AirPlay reliability has gotten better and I rarely have crashing like before. That said, it’s so hard to find what I want to watch I’ve found myself not using it because of it. ✓ Good but BuggyGCN content is great but this APP has more bugs than the Australian outback. Trying watch the racing videos is as painful as pulling teeth. Either multiple videos want to play at once eg the main video plus a highlights video, or no videos will play. Considering access to these videos is a paid service it’s unacceptable that it is not more reliable. As the owner of a software company myself I would be incredibly disappointed if we expected our paying clients to be satisfied with something of this quality..Sobey5Version: 1.418.0

✓ GCN App glitchesFirstly the content is great, numerous race options and the variety of documentaries on GCN + is brilliant. However lately have been having daily issues when wanting to watch stage race replays and stream them to the TV. Essentially the content comes up no worries in the iPad, however it won’t stream, and I haven’t touched any of the settings for the TV or chrome cast, they work fine. ✓ App unreliableEven though I have an up ti date subscription and being able to watch GCN on other media devices, the iPhone app keeps prompting to subscribe. ✓ Apple TV app unfit for purposeI switched to GCN following the closer of the Eurosport app. I love cycling so was excited at the array of new content. Problem is the app itself is so poor I feel I can’t access it. There are so many issues with it. Let’s start with the basics, while watching a race replay the remote becomes unresponsive after a few minutes. The only way to resolve it is to crash out of the app and relaunch it. If that isn’t bad enough trying to find content is very difficult. Want to watch the latest cyclo cross races in the order that occurred because you’re a bit behind? bad luck because they are listed in the app in seemingly random order. I could go on. ✓ Overall positive but two issuesI subscribe to GCN+ and have been overall happy with the product, notwithstanding geo limitations which I understand is largely out of their control. However, I have had two recent issues with the app though which is frustrating. First, please redesign now you showcase the latest news on RaceTV to avoid spoilers. Today I went to watch highlights of the TdF but the “GCN Daily” news card on the RaceTV tab had in big bold letters who had won the race. This was just a couple of hours after the conclusion of the race. Late-breaking news like this is better reported on the other tabs, e.g. Home, which I know to avoid reading if I can’t watch live. I’d also like a smoother interface for races available to stream in my region. If a race is not available to watch, none of the options should be available to click. Otherwise, if I click on a race, I get a black screen with the play/fast forward/rewind buttons but nothing loads. Previously I would get a red screen stating not available in my region. ✓ Typical Experience with this AppThis morning successfully watched a portion of Stage 15 of the Giro through iPhone AirPlay on my Roku. Yay! Went on an errand. Returned and attempted to resume and all I get is a black screen on my iPhone. No playback, no controls even. Spent 20 minutes trying everything I could think of, forcing app to restart, updating app, changing VPN region, turning VPN off. Trying the “includes live show” version. Nothing works. Extended highlights are available but not the race replays. Based on experience I may be able to get it to work later but for now I’m out of luck. Airplay is also often a nightmare. This morning it just happened to be resuming playback on the app that failed. If this app weren’t so incredibly frustrating I would maintain an annual subscription and watch classics and other content. As it is I can only stomach it to watch the Giro. Nothing else piques my interest enough to compensate for the pain of using this incredibly glitchy app. So I’ll terminate my subscription until next year..SburriousVersion: 1.458.0

✓ Works on phone not on Apple TVWriting a review here because the app is one in the same when it comes to Apple ecosystem. On the phone it works very well. As far as simple functionality of pausing rewinding and fast forwarding. However, on Apple TV with iOS 17 pausing does not work neither does rewind or fast-forward. When the pause is selected, it simply goes mute, but continues to play in the background at which point you’re stuck. You can no longer play hear, rewind, fast-forward or anything. The only solution is to exit and go back in to watch your show at which point you start from the beginning again. Very frustrating!.EbcarreraVersion: 1.765.0

✓ Not readyUpdate: Chromecast not slightly more functional but all content constantly buffers, it’s like being back in the days of dial up. Content etc is great, although slightly misleading on certain content, for example Flanders highlights only available in Japan. The app is so unusable with chrome cast that I’m cancelling my race pass. It’s clearly not been tested and really lets down the whole thing. It’s impossible to watch highlights on chromecast without it crashing, not being able to then fast forward when you restart the app to watch again. Going to watch elsewhere..Will2222Version: 1.208.0

✓ Good for awhileI bought the yearly subscription to this app and loaded it on my phone and my Samsung TV. I was initially impressed. I bought it mainly to watch the Tour of Italy since no U.S. network carries it. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t get some of the European classics, but I did get races I’d never seen before. The day the Giro started all of a sudden I got a content unavailable notice for any race despite the Giro and others being on the menu. I contacted customer service and was finally told the problem was fixed. Disappointedly I found out it has not been fixed. I again contacted customer service and they are ghosting me. Meanwhile the Giro goes on and I can’t access it. I also don’t know why the U. S. Is shut out of viewing a lot of the important European races. If it’s global then let it be global. ✓ Great content.. app needs work.Loving the race coverage and GCN+ content.. Some truly brilliant films there. But the app is slow, clunky and unintuitive to use. The lack of an app for AppleTV is infuriating. Airplay works fine but as an example of why it’s not an acceptable solution to this type of content, if I pause content on the AppleTV and leave it for long enough for the AppleTV screensaver to kick in then the Airplay connection is broken and I have to reset it and figure out where I was in the content as it doesn’t resume where it left off. This is annoying enough when watching documentaries or films, it’s completely unacceptable when watching live racing!! I can’t see any reason why you can’t get an AppleTV app out quicker than it’s taking.. just rebrand the Eurosport app if you have to.. ✓ Great content. Execution fail. Poor.Can’t agree more with the streaming/buffering/skipping content issues. Bordering on unuseable. Coming back to the app after a break is a lottery if you can resume, or have to search endlessly to resume. All I can say is remember how many KM left in the race or you’ll regret it. No Apple TV app, AirPlay spotty at best, browser has a mind of its own. Usually have two or three options to resume as any one device can fall over for 15 minutes whilst it is endlessly buffering/searching content. Weird error where multiple audio streams play through the app. Even stopping the app video will not stop audio. It still continues with no other apps open. Have to close app completely. ✓ Needs so much workLove the content available in the app. The navigation and layout to finding said content is horrid. The races are just a scrolling carousel without grouping by race or year or anything. Since there’s no Apple TV app I am forced to AirPlay but the airplay support is frustrating because of the app design. When you select a stage/race it defaults to playing the full race in the video player on the app page that opens, but when you want to watch a highlight video it only opens as a slide up video on top of the main video. This causes issues with airplay and leaving the app or sleeping the screen of your phone resulting in canceling video playback of the highlight video and resuming playing the race video. This leads to next complaint… App video playing doesn’t store what you watched. When you watch 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes of a race and your airplay changes to a different video to play on your tv, you lose track of what you watched previously when you go back to the video you wanted to watch. This can occur in too many ways because of the Airplay implementation and results in way too much time spent trying to just find where you were watching from before. The social features are frustrating because of the inability to search for users or posts, you only see what is shown to you..KhanelimanVersion: 1.243.0

✓ Great on paper but still very frustratingGreat app for watching the racing but the structure of the app really doesn’t work and makes watching highlights incredibly frustrating: the auto replay of a race kicks in as soon as you open the page for the race itself and keep trying to play in the background even once you try to play highlights only. This often wrecks havoc with airplay (which temperamental at best even live) and is simply so, so frustrating as it was an issue from day 1 which should really have been fixed by now. Many patches and fixed are issued regularly and the developers seem to take feedback onboard, so marking down now because of the known issues but keen to see those things sorted and mark the app up then! 👍.Al_nldnVersion: 1.140.0

✓ Don’t waste your moneyThe GCN+ app has wonderful content if you get to watch it, but don’t waste your money on an app that has stopped working on Sony and some other smart TVs. When this failure is raised with GCN they waste your time for hours for months on end with pathetic excuses, and hopeless and unusable supposed work arounds. Having failed to provide the service paid for (content advertised as being viewable on any smart TV), they then have the arrogance to contemptuously tell customer they don’t have to pay any refund for completely failing to provide any service, tell you just to watch it on a phone..J10067Version: 1.518.0

✓ Frustrating appI really appreciate the fact that there is a GCN pass and we can watch the cycling whenever we want, wherever we want, but the app is making it very hard to watch! Every time I look at my phone, to pause the replay or even to look at other apps, it takes the race back to the start and then trying to forward it to where I was up to is really difficult as it keeps wanting to start at 0:00. So it takes 5-6 attempts to get anywhere near where I was. And when I stop casting it doesn’t stop casting it plays on my tv for hours, I have to turn on another chromecast tv app to push it off. ✓ Hides important contentWe watch the downhill races on the app, often the morning after the races since we are not in the same time zone as many of the race events. The app makes it impossible to find the event half the time. The search doesn't work. Keywords such as DHI or downhill or the location of the race don't pull up the event but pull up other events lacking all keywords. The event is often not in the recent event page despite being only a few hours earlier. It can take 10-15 minutes to search around different listings to find the right activity. We use the app on our smart TV. I hope the races contract with another company that can make the event findable. If they find they have low views this season, maybe that will encourage them to have the event actually come up on searches in the future. Very disappointing..Rkt11Version: 1.753.0

✓ Lots of issuesGreat content if you just watch on phone or ipad, but if you want to stream to a tv its terrible. Stream/video resets to the start every 5 mins, then you have to try find where you were up to using a super inaccurate slider. If you touch your device while a video is playing it will reset to the beginning of the stage. If your screen times out while a video is playing it will reset to the beginning of the stage. ✓ Give us the data you have access to!Cheers to good and even GREAT racing coverage. EXCEPT the stream of ICI World Series XCO (and XCC) SHOULD MOST DEFINITELY INCLUDE a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the live coverage (and replays, of course). We know you have the data. We see it in your streamed cyclocross races. We see that you consistently display the placement of the top 3-5 racers and sometimes up to 10 on the left side of XCC / XCO races. We see the RFID timing stations on course. We know all racer pass these stations multiple times each lap. So give it to us! Pretty pretty please?? You know we are now paying for your stream of UCI World Series XCC and XCO whereas in the past we were streaming it for free elsewhere. That free stream included a fantastic scrolling ticker at the bottom of the broadcast. We should expect AT THE VERY LEAST, the same now that we are paying. Don’t you agree? ✓ Tour de France? Not really…First time subscriber for this product - was hoping to watch extended recaps/replays daily for the tdf. There’s a couple things wrong here with this product - the biggest issue is very poor navigation in the site - it’s laid out so pourly, all races are just uploaded to the same location. Nothing is broken down by race…. Massive issue because it’s messy, and it’s honestly very easy to organize or create a better file tree/structure…. And yet no one has? - when I looked today and could not find any replays longer than 3-6 mins. For the Tour de France. I can get short replies on any competitors sites for free. - search feature is terrible - if you type in “tour de France” - nothing shows up related to the tdf. - cost is $10 US monthly - however peacock is $5 For same race - and it’s a waaayy more professional and user intuitive product -navigating to the replay I want daily is simple. Good luck with your product a maybe I’ll check back in the future - right now it’s a good start/prototype platform for cycling, I like the vision- just need a better user interface and structure that’s more intuitive..CyclingJamesVersion: 1.701.2

✓ Chromecast video resets at randomWhenever I reopen the app (change from the GCN app to say the message app and then back to gcn) the video resets to the start. ✓ Ipad to Chromecast doesn’t workBought a race pass wanting to view on my iPad and on bigger screen via Chromecast. Chromecast doesn’t work at all and it seems only way to view on larger screen from iPad is via Apple TV. Viewing on iPad screen is hit and miss. Some feeds you can make large screen and some others only take up a phone sized portion of the screen. ✓ Gotta be a better wayApp is absolute crap - nothing but problems regardless of which apple tv I try to play it on (have both a newer one and an older one). Once you start watching something the app is non-responsive to almost any command from an apply tv remote - can’t rewind, can’t pause, can’t fast forward, and then randomly responds to an earlier command and freezes. When you first open the app you can change/adjust the commentary but that’s about it. The only way to exit is to press and hold the menu button, and odds are that you’ll just end up where you were before if you try to re-open/restart the app. Love the Giro but guess I’m going to miss it again..DDMF6261Version: 1.681.0

✓ Disgusting serviceConstant problems for well over a month being unable to log in to view content. Spent numerous hours of my own time jumping through the generic hoops laid out by their disinterested support. Eventually the solution they came up with was to set up a new account & they’d credit it with the subscription time I had left (& missed), however they wouldn’t even add so much as extra month to my subscription as a way of making up for all the time I’d spent (over 20 emails). ✓ It’s great right up to the point where it isn’t.Just renewed my subscription as of a week ago and all of a sudden I no longer have a subscription on the app. I can access it on my laptop but no dice from my phone. And if things do go sideways the only customer service you get is via email during business hours. I mean, they are trying to solve my problem, they are making the effort but there is only so much you can do exchanging emails from 9 to 5. ✓ Streaming is bad!This has potential. However it is ruined by very poor streaming. By poor streaming I’m not talking about buffering, I’m more referring to just playing replays. I can watch one replay when not pausing it. I then go to watch second race, it starts off at same time of last race. Half the time it will play full replay, when I want the extended highlights. Happens on chromecast and Apple TV streaming. I’ve waited nearly a year for this to be resolved, however despite many updates, the streaming has never been resolved. I’ve heard replays are provided through third party, maybe this is the issue? It really needs to be resolved and quickly. ✓ Frustrating ExperienceThe app seemed like a great way to get the latest cycling content on demand. However while it may have been good for watching the Giro, it did not even offer the Tour de France in North America. I find this very frustrating because the app was fine in most regards except for the fact that they don’t offer the biggest race of the year in North America. It seems a little redundant to call themselves the “Global Cycling Network” when they don’t stream everywhere. ✓ FrustratingHave to agree with the other iffy reviews here, I had the issue with my subscription not showing up too. To their credit, customer service fixed it within a few hours (via Twitter) but those few hours were the duration of Strade Bianche women’s race, so I missed it. It’s pretty annoying that Eurosport have moved coverage onto an app that isn’t finished and doesn’t have a web player. I’m keen to support wider and broader coverage of the sport, especially the WWT, and I like GCN, but don’t launch something and take money for it if it’s not ready. I’m just wondering why the start times of the events don’t show for the race TV as they do on the phone app. The scrubbing isn’t user friendly. it’ll let you scrub in increments of seconds but it takes forever to move any considerable distance in the programme. When you try to play an event which has not started, instead of saying it can’t find a video, why does it not just say this event has not yet started? ✓ Watching is an exercise in frustrationThis is definitely a review of the app, not the service. I have a hard time believing how poor this application is. If you’re trying to watch on your phone, expect to restart a major tour stage at least 10 to 20 times before you make it through to the end. Pretty much the only way to get through watching something is turn it on and not touch your phone. Get a text message, it resets. Switch applications for a second, it resets. Get a phone call, it resets. Biggest issue at the moment is that the Resume feature on playback is very poorly implemented. If you are watching a live race, stop and return to the rerun later, it gives you the option to resume which only loads the end of the rerun - sometimes showing you who the winner is!!! Next up if you resume a rerun you get a blank screen and there is absolutely no way to continue watching it. ✓ Needs Work, Great ContentThe content is really good and covers a wide range of races. One commentator is a bit screwy, the rest are excellent. Love the woman from Denmark (I think maybe elsewhere). It is pretty random whether or not a race will actually play. You can be watching a race then come back to finish it later and the race won’t load. Select a race and it won’t load first time, skip a stage and it may start. Go back and try your first choice and it may load and go a few minutes later. Not sure if it is a server overload or programming issue. Happens probably 3/4 of the time. Frustrating. “Maybe On Demand” The player is functional with a plus and minus 15 seconds. It doesn’t have a resume feature. Availability filter would be nice so you could see what was available in your country. Not a big deal. I haven’t used any of the social features. Good overall just don’t expect to watch the race you want when you want. Many users have pointed out the major flaw with this app, which make on demand viewing nearly impossible. There is simply no fast forwarding option available, other than a 5 second jump. This means that if you want to watch the last 30 minutes of a 6 hour race, you basically can’t. Another inconvenience: the 5 second skip option pauses the video, so you have to hit Play again each time you want to skip forward. I feel like you have taken most of your time to make a nice looking user interface, but forgot to test the most important feature, the video viewing experience. I need to start viewing on my iPhone or iPad and then pick it up on the Apple TV app. I also have to manually go in and change to audio to English on race highlights every time even after signing out and signing in again. There is also no ability to quickly scrub through the highlights other than advancing by a few seconds each time. ✓ Great. When it worksI got this about a year ago and when it works it’s incredible. Huge volume of races covered, no adverts and some good additional features. That said it’s incredibly temperamental (I use IOS). Often you cannot stream stages you have missed until the next day which is completely useless. Try casting to chromecast, something every other app I’ve used does with no issues… the gcn app, hit cast and after a few minutes it will cast, back slowly away and try not to make any sudden movements otherwise it will throw a wobbly. Absolutely do not try and skip forward, this insanity will sometimes cause it to crash, other times it will sit and think about fast forwarding for ten minutes, and then crash. Audio drops out randomly, and the picture will glitch. ✓ Continual sound problems and drop outsIt’s great being able to access a wide range of races, but considering the cost of the app there are far too many glitches in the programming. Firstly, there are continual issues with the audio. This ranges from commentary mics failing through to the wrong sound being played (tennis audio in the men’s Olympic Road Race!!) and the audio vanishing altogether. Secondly frequently, the app turns itself off mid stream. It’s really annoying, especially as there is absolutely no way of restarting the feed where you left off. For iPad / iPhone apps there does not appear to be the option to download for offline viewing. When the MTB coverage was with Red Bull you could do this in their app, which is incredibly useful. When I start watching a replay it defaults to “ambient sound” and I manually have to select “English”, why can’t I set “English” to be the default? The biggest issue with this app is the utter lack of content curation. Why lump all of their racing content under one library instead of having sub-libraries for the various disciplines? Why recommend unrelated content once a race has been watched (e.g., the Norseman triathlon when I just finished watching XCC in Val di Sole)? ✓ Infuriating app on Samsung TV and fire stickThe stability of the app drives me mad. My brand new Samsung TV either freezes or kicks me off the app after 45-60mins of playing. I then have to do a soft reset of the TV in order to continue. I even exchanged the TV thinking I’d got a duff one but same again. Contacted GCN support and have been told it’s a known issue but 6 weeks later absolutely no updates. Very frustrating, especially as it’s a paid for service. On my older TV with fire stick it will randomly zoom right in so you get a magnified corner of the screen and need to exit the program and reload it. Also pretty annoying but easier fix. ✓ Needs workI have no complaints about GCN but this app needs work. The app load time is slow and occasionally even freezes on load I suspect because of all the content it’s attempting to load. Sometimes I can’t scroll the content or videos either even after it’s loaded.
