✓ Developers idiots incompetent...The world chat is a fake, doesn’t connect....what mmorpg is this; if you can’t connect with other players...deleting..Version: 1.0.1
✓ Loved it at launch, and then the problems started.So when I first started this game I really enjoyed it. I thought the gameplay was simple but fun, and there was a ton of content to go through. But as the days when on I realised this game is EXTREMELY unfriendly to people who don’t spend money on it. It’s really grindy, trickling rewards slowly to you and the limited time stuff only lasts a few days making it hard to get the limited summons in time. Helping in raids is pointless. I still have 99BP because you barely get anything for actually helping anyone. Merging units only makes you go up 10 levels when you need 100 for a progression quest, meaning unless you pull the same unit 7 times roughly, you won’t finish that quest, and the pool is so massive at launch that duplicates won’t come often since you won’t be summoning much unless you pay. It’s good but it hates you if you don’t pay money..Version: 1.0.3

✓ Like it but crashes a lotI’ve always been a tales fan but I cant even get through 3 fights in the arena without it crashing and then counting as a loss. Same with quests and any fighting play that occurs. Makes the progress very slow and tedious. Also continuous problems with chat. None of them ever load. I can deal with the world not loading but I can’t even speak with friends this I can’t even join a league because I have no way of communicating with them. ✓ Love the characters but gameplay itself?The game is veeery grindy and it feels like you cant do most content unless your characters are all super built with top gear levels etc. Id ask that the developers balance the tower and etc to be a little easier to climb. and you might say, get good or w.e but id rather save time and not have to grind this excessively, its not fun and i dont feel any sense of accomplishment. also please increase the roster and make healers more viable with stuff like cure poison or remove status effects. the game barely gives you any currency so if you dont get lucky and pull a healer, most of whom just does a base weak heal unless you grinded for the mats to level them up your out of luck. i keep getting destroyed by poison and i cant even fight back unless my units have the gear and level to kill everything super quick before the posion runs out. so basically, more in game currency, more roster, balance content, make healers with remove status effects. oh and also, i dont get excited when i see new accessories, id rather have more alot more of the tales great characters playable instead of just memoria stones i dont even end up using. like for real most of them arent viable and your just going to use your ssr and their memoria stones on them so whats the point? ✓ Overall a bit yikesNot well optimized for devices, my iPad Air 2 overheats rather quickly just by running the app. Writing is ok, but don’t look for the same writing quality that can be expected from most Tales games. Definitely has some interesting story concepts, but many things are shallow and one dimensional, characters included. Thus far, (chapter 5) Vicious is the only colourful and interesting character and is frankly the saving grace of the story. Also what’s with the supposed “higher rate” for banner characters? I’ve spent over a few hundred $$ in total on this game since it’s release and ironically NONE of the 10+ SSR units I have received thus far were any of the ones featured. Not a single one from the 2 summer banners nor from the most recent maid cafe banner. Those are some pretty horrific rates....Version: 1.0.3
✓ A bug made the game unplayableOk so I was playing the game and suddenly it lagged out. Then I logged back on and it was giving me a tutorial. Couldn’t get past it as I already had stuff so I’m not going to play the game until that is fixed (also could be my phone) Other than that though the game has huge potential and I found it fun when playing it..Version: 1.0.1
✓ Need to play moreTo counter bad unreliable reviews from non fans(like the moron who think Crestoria is a sequel to Vesperia, news flash, Tales of is a franchise with unrelated games like Final Fantasy unless in specific cases( Phantasia and Symphonia being in the same setting, Symphonia having Dawn of the new world, Xillia having Xillia 2 and Berseria being a prequel to Zestiria. So far despite the more generic look compared to modern gachas with the standardized, stages, plus stamina, plus needing dupes for everything(calm down on that, like maybe give an alternative to dupes for skills), compared to Links and Rays, it feel the most like a real Tales. However, no exploration kill some of the joy and wonder of mainline, the story so far is weak compared to the Tales games we can pay for, turn based combat isn’t as fun or deep than action combat. If it have been a premium experience made for mobile, as a fan I would have been overjoyed and bought it right away but no let’s just do the minimum instead. I also noticed broken matchmaking in pvp implying incoming pay2win(also the time boxes and battle pass are worrying) were after reaching stage 2 of E rank, you get destroyed by seemingly actual players that are supposedly around your rank when before you kept winning because of throwing easy bots at you. I do like though seeing the artstyle, characters I know and love, the skills animations being the same as in the premium titles and it felt neat to see an actual skit with the exact design of those in mainline but as a fan.....well I do want more....maybe port over older SNES to PS2 era Tales to make them easier to access?(this time don’t ruin Phantasia) The high production values show a full Tales could be possible on mobile but it would benefit of being less static, more lively. For now, I do enjoy it but I will always enjoy way more actual mainline titles. Update While the story is good, gems and materials drops and rewards are rare and they are stingy with them(only 10 gems per stage), turn based combat is NOT as fun as action combat, only three moves and SSR being the only ones who can use mystic artes(everyone can do it in mainline), R level characters being useless and unusable, I want improvements on upgrading mystic artes and ascending like an alternate item to dupes to do that, because it will never happen unless you are a mega whale( whales won’t end up playing mainline titles later on, if the climate is unfavorable to fans and free2play players, they will leave and the whales who will remain will eventually jump ship to the next shiny thing and it will die in the west like Link and Rays.) No Tales fan want that to happen again. Also if it’s not possible to get the linear motion combat, could we get an event or mode where you can play the conventional way? Update....it seem this game will never be updated and shut down in two years. Can this please not happen and see the issues addressed and the improvements done. Let’s me tell you that there are plenty of westerners who would gladly like to have a mobile version of Tales(sure I’m more on the premium camp but hey, if it’s great I will take it) Would like an answer. ✓ Great Until RaidsI was captivated by the story and couldn’t put the game down until I reached the point that I opened Raids. At this point I had a fair number of SR units and 3 SSR at lvl 30 with lvl2 skills. I entered a normal raid thinking it would be rewarding (Prizes are split based upon contribution percentage). I got 2 rounds in before the monster was vanquished and ended up 6 of 8 participating. I got 4 bronze chests (oh wow, oh wow). So I started a raid and asked for assistance (normal raid btw). I went from 1st to 5th before the end and that was of 7 participating. I got 1 silver chest for hosting and 4 bronze (silver had the only real valuable item). My point is that the chest rewards give the highest value to the strongest in the raid (1 premium for 1st place and 1 premium for last strike) without limiting the CP of the team based on raid level. The paying players will always get the better rewards by spamming weaker raids which propel their stats, skills, open harder raids, and give special enhancing materials that are very difficult to come by. With resets being available with cash shop currency in arena as well this gives paying players a massive advantage that will leave everyone else in the dust very shortly. The story is great, but it is not involved enough to keep this player coming back for daily play..Version: 1.0.1

✓ Decent game - one big issueI would have given this game 4 stars for the game itself. It's a solid game, with a pretty good tales story. Where it lacks is how much you have to grind to level up your characters and how crazy expensive the gleamstones are. A ten pull is $40 (compared to $24 in genshin). The reason I ticked off another star was for technical issues. The game has a lot of crashes, although to be fair they are working on them. However, my biggest issue is that the iPhone 12's have been out for almost a month and they haven't updated the resolution for the new phones, so the text is very blurry..Version: 1.0.9
✓ CRASHES! SO MANY CRASHES!I had such hope for this game but it only led to disappointment. There are 3 reasons for my low score. This game constantly crashes like 4-5x a day even when after playing around with setting as suggested in some articles in google. This has also been a known issue since Beta. I have never played a game that took developer this long to fix something this bad! You can google it and you’ll see exactly how many people struggle with this issue and for how long. 2nd reason is because of Raid. This is very important in order to get to lv 100 but so much time consuming! It takes an average 10 mins each and you get 10 BP you could use up (more than an hour to use the 10 BP up!). So if you’re looking for something quick daily then this is not the game for you! They also need to implement skip ticket. So you’re not only consuming hours on Raid but story line or event already completed to use up energy which refills fairly quick! 3rd and final reason, I love the graphic and special effect but gameplay gets boring fairly quick..Version: 1.0.2

✓ Great but needs some fine tuningIn an age where mobile games are so competitive and constantly vying for attention, I feel this game really shines in story, but has a lot to work in the actual gameplay. For one, the arena is extremely unreliable. As a player that is only rank 5, I am getting matched against players that are level 60+ and getting utterly destroyed. I am not sure why this is even possible as it does help players want to play. As with any gacha game there is also a lot of farming, but it lacks the ability to quick play which is a pity since there are so many things to do and farm. Overall, I think it’s good to pass some time but not enough to become my main p2p. But if you’re looking for a casual good story to kill some time, it’s worth it..Version: 1.0.9

✓ Deceptive rate, bug and lagThis game is really bad first from gacha which is deceptive on it's SSR rate or feature rate..I'm doing 30 roll didn't get feature even hit SSR, all I get just a bunch of SR or even worse R unit. Second, this game's bug really annoying!! sometime (more likely) freezes on login screen and heavy loading time just to go from one menu to another or back to home screen. Lastly OMG that lag even if you've great device it's smooth at first then when you're about two - three stages ahead it's become lagging, slow, or even crashes and yeah that gleamstone pricing?? really expensive with no greater profit as it's return even if you're purchase "pass"...I'm personally didn't see any profit to invest on this game...just watching from a far for this game to die out in the future.Version: 1.0.2

As I’m just now getting into the tales series , just seeing a new take on it is really great and ive been playing non stop . My gripe isn’t the bugs or the chat not working ..... it’s the fact that they don’t provide you with any quality of life . It’s constant click next , hit retry , add support . Nonstop . It’s 2020 , you literally just added auto repeat into alicization which also needed quality of life but you finally added after months . Don’t let this be like that game where we have to wait for you ! Do what your community wants instead of trying to keep players on your game all day manually playing everything . ✓ CrashesI would love to put this as a 5* rating but recently when trying to continue the main story the game crashes. It didn’t do this before as in the first account I had I had made it up to chapter 6 with no issues whatsoever. However now, I’m stuck at chapter 4 unable to continue the story because of the constant crashing. I’ve tried everything I can restarting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app clearing some data but nothing works. ✓ Horrible game plagued by bugs!This game has some of the craziest bugs I’ve seen and what’s worst is that I just recently saw a post on their Facebook with them claiming that they supposedly “fixed all bugs” yet my game is plagued with them! For example, there are these power up quest you get items to level your character with, such as with any game that’s similar, however even though the quest themselves change, I’ve not once been able to play any of them?! It just keeps saying “time is up”, another bug I have is that I can’t play hard mode, to play hard mode on chapter one, you need to pass chapter 2.6.1, but I’m on chapter 3 and I’ve already passed not just chapter 2, but also chapter 2 side stories. Oh and for whatever reason I also can’t use chat. I don’t think I’ll play much longer, for it seems like they live by their motto... “Live. Even if it’s a sin” Their sin is not caring about the players, such a shame a company like this would scoop so low..Version: 1.0.2
✓ Released too early, glitch/bugged all overI love the Tales series, but this game is tarnishing their image. One of the first challenges you have is to speak in chat, which doesn’t work. The timed events do not work correctly, and the only way to fix it is to switch to Japanese time. The characters are unbalanced, where the rare SSR characters are required, because they are vastly superior to the SR characters. It doesn’t matter how much diversity they have in the characters available if 80% of them are worthless for end game content. This game is a money grab, which you will realize within a couple hours of playing since you still won’t have enough gems roll for in the 10 gacha draw..Version: 1.0.1

✓ Good job shafting player base right out of the gateSo the reason it gets a 3 star rating right now is the story is good but they decided on a 40 or more arena battles in order to collect rewards upon season completion. Now this may not sound hard when every 2 hrs you get a full BP refill but they just launched the game and most people were working on lvl up and such with the story and barely did the arena which soon will be the major way to get Gleamstones (summon currency). This has affected many due to only the Japanese version having the 40+ battles in the rules. The English does not have this rule. I would suggest telling Bandai support about this issue along with your user info and your arena + prestige ranking so they know how well they shafted you!.Version: 1.0.1

✓ Annoying crash issuesThis is by no means a bad game and I’m a large Tales of fan and have played many tales games over the years and have been playing Crestoria since launch. But there are a few things that are very frustrating that have repeatedly happened even after several patches, but one in particular is the worst. The most aggravating is in the arena. I have had several battles where the server would crash and kick me out mid battle. Now if that was it and I could log back in and resume the fight or have my ticket refreshed then it wouldn’t be as much of an issue. However, we do not get our lost ticket back, there is no resume, and to add insult to injury the battle is treated as an automatic loss. In a battle function where a win streak actually matters this is a major flaw that I’ve tried overlooking since launch yet it’s still happening even to this day..Version: 1.1.3
✓ Fun Game, But Bugs GaloreHonestly, I've been a fan of the Tales series since Tales of Phantasia, playing that as a kid. So when I found out there was a mobile game based on this universe of games, needless to say, I was excited. However, upon starting the game, I experienced a multitude of bugs, ranging from minor inconveniences, getting random connection errors when my internet is stable, to annoying, crashing upon entering arena, resulting in an arena loss or being told I don't have enough BP to do a fight when I'm sitting on enough. Today was the last straw, where I joined a raid and was stuck on a black screen, even after restarting. Upon doing some research, it turns out the only real "fix" for this is to just wait for the raid to time out, a whopping 3 days, missing out on the resources they trickle out on a daily basis. How this got through QA and stayed in the game for so long is beyond me, and I likely will not be coming back to this game..Version: 1.0.3

✓ Updated review 5 stars to now 3 starsUpdated review This game has an incredible and long story that is well written and charming. The animations for this game are of PS3 quality models are well designed and smooth when playing. There is a ton of FREE currency to be gained making buying currency a choice and doesn’t feel like it’s forced or you have to buy to keep playing ( I’ve been playing 3 days) they leveling up is fast and easygoing. The characters are easy to level up and level there skills is simply most of the stuff you need or soon will need is usually easy enough to gain. I’ve been able to summon 9 SSR grade characters completely free and progressed through the story on normal to chapter 5 and on hard to chapter 3 with out any or much difficulty. BUT this game dose have a few issues and a few short comings. The chat in the game takes forever to load or doesn’t work the raids lags a lot it’s not Broken just very laggy. PvP is not done well it’s slow doesn’t make me want to do it ( I love pvp in every game) the rewards are a massive grind. In this specific part of the game you’ve gotta pay otherwise it takes hours to be able to play again after you’ve use you 5 attempts. They have this cooking feature I just ignore it as I haven’t needed to use it because if you get stuck anywhere I just go do side quest farm gold level my characters up and I can move along all the same marking the cooking meals completely not needed. Overall it’s a fun game that you DON’T have to pay money to get the good characters the story is well written the game runs well (but raids) it’s a wonderful game that can be easy I’ll played without the need to drop massive amounts of money to play. Which is honestly refreshing for a mobile game with micro transactions. UPDATED BELOW! Okay I’ll been playing for about 5 weeks now and I over the game NO end game content guild don’t serve any REAL purpose pvp is a joke 2 hours to wait for a ticket. The story is great however after you complete the story and get 90% of the free currency given to you all the is left to do is raid pvp when you can and grid out more free currency where you can to summon then repeat. I’ve gotta 9 SSR’s to level 100 and it’s boring at this point Raif is something that HAS to be grind in Oder to level past 60 and a lot of grinding at that also raid is buggy slow and often crashes add to the long grind. I love game like this but there is no end game content. ✓ Good tales game but...I am a Tales fan and was excited for this game. I’ve been playing it since it came out. It has had quite a few bugs which seem to be slowly being resolved. The graphics are very iffy depending on the device you are using. I started on one ipad were the graphics were sharp and honestly awesome. I upgraded to a newer ipad only to find that now all the 3d characters are hazy as if the game thinks the new ipad is slower than the old which is definitely not the case. I tried contacting their support and I will say for others DO NOT BOTHER. They are the worst script monkeys for support I have ever seen. They can only offer reinstall and reboot suggestions even if both failed before. Overall it is a great game with horrible support..Version: 1.0.4

✓ Good game plagued with bugs and HORRIBLE customer supportThis game has a lot of potential. But it’s plagued with a lot of bugs that constantly(in my case every 20-30 min) crash the game. Now this can be overlooked at times. But a lot of the crashes happen when you are trying to collect your rewards. I lost multiple summon tickets because of this. And when I tried to get in contact with customers support they just responded with Japanese websites. I’m playing in the US it was released in English...how is there no customer support available for this. Even the links they gave me don’t help when translating. Their just an FAQ without the option to talk with a rep. Bugs can be overlooked most of the times if developers actually help their customers. The fact that they have it setup in a way that if a bug costs you multiple items, then you’re just out of luck. That’s just laziness and greed on the part of the developer. EDIT: so the developer responded to this review with the same links I received before that didn’t solve anything. ✓ It was fun...I’m a fan of the Tales of series, so decided to give this game a try. I was enjoying the story, but noticed very quickly that this game is very dependent on you spending money to progress. I actually got very lucky and managed to snag a few SSR characters with the free crystals and tickets I got. However, I found myself hitting walls and not being able to progress. This became a constant theme when I tried my hand at the arena and the raids. At least with the raids, it’s not solely dependent on your team, but being pit against paying players who wipe my arena team in a few turns just became frustrating. Even more frustrating was the constant errors I would receive while trying to play or it just outright crashing all together. Eventually I decided to re-download the game, hoping it might help, but all my data was lost and having to start all over from scratch was the last straw. I wish I could have seen how the story progressed, but the constant frustrations just isn’t worth it..Version: 1.0.3

I can ignore the issues constantly and constant updates needed but when I do a 10x pull TWICE in a row and don’t see a single rainbow unit but the game expects me to get TWELVE of a Rainbow unit to maximize each unit or WORSE get TEN rainbows to trade for ONE unit enhancement in which case you’d need ONE HUNDRED rainbow units (if your as unlucky as this game already makes you) to maximize ONE. Come on Bandai don’t mess with a longtime fan like this. And on top of all this mess, the rewards for logins in each day are minuscule and finishing each story level only gets you 30 gleamstones (summon currency) and you need 2500 to summon for 10. That’s EIGHTY THREE missions per 10x summons, and again at the cruddy rate you get a rainbow, you’ll NEED 10x summons to have a glimpse of a hope at ONE rainbow. Come on now, this is how you wanna treat fans? Everyday I see a drop in the amount of friends and clan members leaving this scam..Version: 1.0.3
✓ Mixed feelingsStory is good. Visuals are nice. Voice acting is great. Once you learn how to combo properly, combat can be quite satisfactory. All in all, the production values of the game show, no doubt. Gacha is a big issue. Rates are pretty decent, and you even get to pick a free SSR. This puts all other, lower rarity characters at a very serious disadvantage, and it becomes noticeable pretty early on, in both PVE and PVP. So, while you can theoretically access everything as a F2P player, your luck at pulling SSRs could really make or break the game for you. Other issues are chat, which takes a very long time to load, only to crash, usually. Third issue would be with the friend list, to pick characters to help your party. There’s no way to refresh it, making it very clunky to use. I’ll try to stick for the story, but other aspects of the game make it really hard to enjoy for me if I want to remain F2P. C’est nous qui fais fais avancer nos hérosoù on veut et quand une bataille arrive bam! Un peu comme final fantasy dans c’est début mais avec de meilleurs graphiques.. moi c’est un jeu comme ça que je l’ai aimé. Je suis déçu de ce que j’ai vu. ✓ Bells and Whistles. Nothing more.Another mobile game that looks pretty, but has a load of issues. Frequent crashes without warning (God forbid if it happens in the arena your win streak is gone), stubborn bosses that won’t die even with your best characters and frequently tear yours up (Level 30+ SSRs won’t dent the gorilla boss apparently), FGO gacha with no pity scout system and certain menu functions that don’t work such as chat. (Says that I’m not connected even though I’m playing the rest of the game just fine.) After the delays this game had it had my hopes up to think that there was going to be some care put into it only to have me disappointed not even a full day in. This may have been because of the virus going on, but if that’s the case then you should’ve just cancelled this. Tales of the Rays deserved a lot more support. ✓ Always crashesEver since the new update (1.1.1), the game consistently crashes and force closes in the Phantom Tower after floor 26 when an AoE Mystic Arte is performed, or if a Mystic Arte breaks the enemy. When this issue was brought to the developers, their response was that my device was to blame (iPhone 8 with 0 issues for all other apps). Absolutely disappointed..Version: 1.1.1

✓ Gacha at its worstIf you like the tales series then the story will definitely interest you. The writing is clever and charming, the characters are likeable and interesting. Unfortunately the other aspects of this game are plagued with bugs and pay walls. It’s very hard to pull the characters you want and even more difficult to build a team that synergises well. Characters don’t offer much variety in terms of gameplay. Just different elements, animations and weapon types. This game has also rolled out with pvp, Guilds, raids and cooking. It tries to do a lot of things but none of them are done particularly well. These modes don’t feel rewarding as a massive amount of time is needed to grind everything here and heavily favours players that spend $$. Ultimately, even if you love tales I would not recommend this game. It’s a shame because the story was fantastic very engaging..Version: 1.0.1

✓ Only a three due to issuesWhile I do like the game it feels like playing an even grinder version of Granblue Fantasy. The story is great don’t get me wrong but going through later stages with the sudden difficulty spikes doesn’t inspire me much to pull through. I do try to train all the SSR units that I have but it’s still not enough. If my team gets wiped out on normal can’t imagine hard and very hard. I don’t want to end up using my stones for continues constantly because I’d rather hoard them for new units. Plus the Phantom tower also needs adjusting, I get getting harder to clear as we reach new floors but the lower levels should be this hard. And onto the connection errors, they’re getting more frequent than before. So much I can’t even do raids without the loading screen taking 5 or so minutes or not letting me enter at all. And it seems connection errors isn’t limited to raids either. I want to keep playing so please bamco do something about the unnecessary difficulty spikes and the connection errors..Version: 1.0.3
