✓ One of the Best!I’m not really into skiing at all, but I started playing this and quickly realized that it was mobile game gold. There’s pretty much no area where this game fails in my book. The developer came up with a clever way of controlling a skier that never feels clunky because of being done on a touch screen. This game features excellent controller support, but I don’t feel the need to use one because the touch controls are done so well. It can also be purchased for a one time payment, unlike the majority of mobile games out there. That’s a huge plus for me and many others. ✓ Nearly perfect...I love the physics in this game, so smooth and fun. You can just carve relaxingly across the mountains, or find huge drops to flip off. And the mountain designs are great. The snow effects look amazing! The fact you can return to an area 30mins later, having been over the other side of the mountain, and the tracks you left in the snow are still there is incredible. This game really deserves 5 stars but the only thing holding me back is the replays. You can only have replays of the challenges. You can’t replay any of your runs when you’re just messing about and exploring. So often I do an amazing run flipping down some huge drops, but then I can never see it again. All it needs is an option to replay the last 30 (or 60) seconds of play. Then this game would be perfect (and would get 5 stars, developers *wink wink*) Oh, and it’s worth the money for the extra mountains. I had a great time fully completing all of the free parts of this game but at the same time, a huge portion of this game is locked behind an in app purchase which is so disappointing because of how fun the rest of this game was. But the first map was great and has a huge open world which was so fun to explore. I wish there was a way to unlock another map by playing the game because after beating it (took me about an 2 hours) there isn’t much to do, it would be also interesting if there was an option for a snowboard playstyle with the DLC which is one of the reasons i’m not going to buy it. For the cheap price of 5 bucks you can have access to a few more mountains that have great terrain, unique features, and cool music. The best part is how you can get lost exploring all sorts of stuff. My favorite part is the terrain parks, because I like to see how many points I will get. I think my highest in one trick was only like 7000 or something. I’m pretty bad at the game. This may seem like a weird quibble but it takes what is a near perfect game and destroys it with repetitiveness, because if you make one mistake you start over, that means you are constantly reliving that one bad turn at the top instead of getting to experience most of the routes each time. I get that you won’t get an “official” time if you make a mistake, but we can’t even SEE what 90% of the routes look like which means you have to be perfect to experience most of the game content. It is exactly what I wanted from a ski game, but there is only one issue that’s taking me from the immersion. There’s no crash physics with other skiers/ boarders, or many other objects in general besides the cliff face, not sayin this to be a sadist though. It just does not make much sense if I make a mistake and collide with a skier only for them to be standing In place while I’m moving. ✓ Fan-freaking-tactic!I grew up in the mountains skiing, boarding, racing and eventually found my passion in competitive free skiing. After several years of getting my career in order and becoming a dad the lack of time in the mountains meant I could no longer be competitive, but that doesn’t men I will ever stop loving it. Now this game lets it continue at work and home. The graphics and snow effects, controls (once you get the hang of it) and scale of this game are as close as you’ll get to being on snow in an office chair. The variety of challenges and terrain are spectacular. There are times on timed GS courses or when landing a cliff just right that your muscle memory kicks in and you literally feel it as if you were there. What’s more it also has perfect user interface which is a big plus. However, there are two things. The camera, get some time to use to it, and if possible add the option to chose it. The bigger problem I see is that there is a cap on speed of the skier. It sort of takes some fun out because at certain map location it would make sense to let you go faster, it would not ruin the game with too big jumps etc., cause there is already build in script for bad landing or landing with too big of a force, I suggest allowing at least the turn off the speed cap. ✓ Great game, obviously made by people with experience in the snow.There are not many games that match the fun of exploring a mountain and recreating the snowboarding / skiing experience in real life like this game. I love the realistic lighting effects on the snow, zen mode, and that it remembers previous lines in the snow and the feeling of being able to explore the whole mountain. I found myself just exploring the mountain chilling out. Only thing I would like to see improved upon is the camera angles and perspective. At times I feel like I want to have the camera behind my man with the perspective looking down hill, (like 1080 Snowboarding on Nintendo), or to have the 3rd person camera position reversed so that downhill is going in the direction of up screen instead. Another thing that could be fun to do is including sub-games to get lift passes when you can go into some of the buildings. Board waxing, schnapps drinking challenge, finding an empty space on a ski rack, throwing snowballs from the chairlifts, etc.. Speed control turns are a fundamental part of skiing, and the game is missing an element of skill and strategy without that ability. In extreme terrain, you pretty much have to straight-line and hope you don’t fly off of, or into something. To deal with this, I’ve learned to use the downward slide hockey stop / brake function at the ends of my turns. This works. But feels and looks really unnatural because you are either in a high-speed GS turn or an all-out hockey stop. A suggestion to fix this would be to make the downward slide function a progressive stopping turn, so that the further down you slide, the more perpendicular your skis turn to the fall line and the faster you stop. Sliding down just a little would initiate a sliding turn that burns some speed off. You could still come to a complete stop by sliding all the way down. Attempting to do this I am always advised I need 3+ Ski Passed in the previous mountain. As I already have this, I’m a little mystified and frustrated. Developers. May I suggest looking into this issue and also adding more instructions to the help menu. There is little in the way of guidance to allow players to enjoy the game to the full. Suggestions on technique and how one progresses in the game would be useful. Thanks Geoff. Update: Reinstall cures the issue of Ski Passes not counting towards access to next mountain in the demo version. Developers: What do the green and blue arrows signify. They obviously give directions to a challenge but what’s the difference? Overall this is a very engaging and entertaining game. Its certainly got a good balance between challenge and learning curve. It’s so satisfying to watch the snow and to peaceful to play, you don’t have to do challenges which i like so i can do what i want.
