NeuralCam:Bokeh & NightMode for Negative User Reviews

Scam - worse than stock appThis app does absolutely nothing to the photos I’m taking. It pretends to ‘calculate’ something and then you get similar or worse result compared to stock app. I was expecting way more from Apple app approval team..Version: 5.0.5

Decent app, 2.8 megapixel photos though.Yes the app works well for night photos because they’re using bracketing, it takes 3 photos, one over exposed, one regular and one under exposed then layers them on top of each other, this has existed as long as photography has. Because of how they do this if you don’t keep it perfectly still it will be out of focus but not breathing for 3 seconds is easy to get that gram. Large downside, if you don’t have a giant iPhone or the X and newer, the output is 2.8 megapixels which is less than the iPhone 4 had. Not sure why this is but other than that it’s a neat app..Version: 1.0.2

Not impressedAfter using my wife’s iPhone 11 in night mode I got camera envy. Put this app on my iPhone X to try and keep up. It does work ok in low light but in very dark situations it doesn’t come close..Version: 4.0.3

Meh.Not a fan of the new interface. Older one looked better. New one looks cheap and nasty. The 2x zoom just doesn’t produce a decent photo. The normal lens produces hit and miss results. Maybe I expected too much after having a Pixel with Night Sight..Version: 1.1

NeuralCamNeuralCam This app is absolutely rubbish. Photos turn out pixelated/blurry and grainy. And when you send the creators of this app proof they say that your phone is crap. I sent some images of the app working horribly on my iPhone X and there response is that the iPhone X apparently has a rubish camera. My advice to people is to not get this app It’s rubbish and is definitely not worth £5.Version: 1.2.1

It’s An Okay Camera App.I have been using Neuralcam next to the iPhone 11 Pro Max camera app and I have to say I have much better results with the stock app from Apple and especially in low light. Not sure if I’m missing a feature on Neuralcam but from the results I’m getting, the Apple camera app is taking much better pictures in low light. I wish I could share the pics I just took to show the difference. It’s drastic. The Apple camera app wins with my usage..Version: 1.1.1

Not suitable for iPhone 6SResults on iPhone 6S are absolutely awful, do not waste your time if you have a 6S. Developers if you are reading this, perhaps you should remove the 6S from the compatibility list, the results on this phone make you look terrible..Version: 1.1.1

User manual doesn’t workUser manual will not open on IPhone xr.Version: 3.0.0

The noise :(Man I was having really high hopes for this app. Ever since I saw what the iPhone 11 could do for night images, I thought this app would do justice. I was impressed with how much the image was lit up, but the detail behind it was too noisy. I was not expecting that at all. Maybe it’s because I have a 7 plus but still. The other guy with the 7+ who wrote a review making it seem that the images would be great. I guess I really do need to get the 11.Version: 1.1.1

Very good but laggyA bit slow but the quality of photos is excellent.Version: 1.2.1

Not a FanPics seem a little over processed & un-natural. Yes you can turn the feature off but may as well use the native iOS app then. Macro mode is a joke! You can’t focus closer than 200mm away. Other apps inc the native iOS app can focus as close as about 15mm away. All up…. Disappointing I would rather this have been a trial period app than to have spent my money on this. After seeing the results, I see why you did it this way..Version: 5.0.5

Would like a refund!I bought this just last night for a dark sky festival I’m attending and my iPhone 11 Pro camera was working better than this. Not impressed that I paid $7 for this load 😒.Version: 5.0.5

This app is great- when it worksLast year I used this app all the time. It takes great pictures of the northern lights - or it did. After an update, it glitches constantly, takes solid black photos, crashes frequently and is generally not the same app I paid for. Not sure what happened, but it's a shame- I really did like the app..Version: 5.0.5

Glitchy on iphone 8Please fix this. I love the quality but it glitches everytime i take pictures at night. This app cost me so please make it worth buying.Version: 4.0.3

Lags and skips taking photos on ios 16.2As title says, please fix.Version: 5.0.5

Scam developersTrying to charge me a subscription after originally buying the app. I want a refund and will not continue to use this app or developer..Version: 1.4

Shady description practiceTL:DR - the pictures are good, but you are not getting all the features advertised. Wording of app description makes it appear to include things such as the 24mp and 48mp upscaling. You have to look at each screenshot to see that 48mp upscaling is not included in the $4 price tag but rather costs an additional $4. Then, once you get the app, you find out that 24mp upscaling is also not included in the original price. No where on there app description does it state this and even in my communication with the app developer team they stated I should have access to every feature except the 48mp upscaling..Version: 5.0.1

Ok for older phones. Not worth it on 13I remember on my iPhone X this app blew me away. On the 13 though, the stock camera provides far better results on all fronts (at a fraction of the time). I did purchase the upscaling add on to see if anything changed but no difference, in my opinion. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes though, the Google camera has shown that software can dramatically improve the quality of an image through AI processing, perhaps this will catch up for portraits and HDR images..Version: 5.0.5

App keeps crashing during processing of photo.I did a bunch of research and this app consistently came up as the best for low light. When it works it definitely works, however, I have lost more photos then gained due to it constantly crashing during the processing of the photo after I take the shot. This is disappointing since you have to pay for this app. Please fix the app. For reference Im using a fully updated iPhone XR..Version: 2.0.2

How do I zoom in?I can’t figure out how to zoom in or out on my iPhone XS ? Is this normal? Am I missing something? My regular iPhone camera has no problem. Can’t find any info about this. Any ideas?.Version: 4.0.3

Too noisyI have just bought the app after praising reviews I read. I compared the pictures from my iPhone XS Max with this app’s camera. I was not expecting miracles, but the low light picture were clean and nice and much better than the iphone original camera. Though, I am really disappointed with the shutter noise, not only is just too load, but having the shutter sound is unnecessary since other phones take many picture in the background without such a noisy sound. I had to silence the phone to feel OK. I will continue to experiment with this app in the next few weeks. I would love to give it 5 stars for the picture quality, but the shutter sound makes it really hard to do so. I urge the developers to mute the shutter, or make it optional, or lower the volume a lot to make the app good for day to day use..Version: 1.2.1

Saving issueIt’s not allowing me to take photos and asking me to enable access to photo library while it’s not providing the same as an option.. is it a glitch?.Version: 2.2.2

Don’t buy this appIt sucks and they make you pay more for new features even if you bought the app already. Don’t support this scummy business model.Version: 5.0.5

Great when it worksI just upgraded from an iPhone SE 2016 to an iPhone SE 2020 and bought this app thinking I would finally be have the one feature I was waiting to upgrade for after a brief stint owning a Pixel 3. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to say I’m enjoying this app yet because every time I go to take a photo, the entire app crashes and closes during the processing phase right before the photo is saved to my camera roll. I’m really bummed. I’d love to submit a bug report with a video of the error, but the crash stops my screen recording too! Yikes..Version: 2.2.1

Bright but BlurryIt definitely makes the photos brighter but they're completely unusable for anything more than sending over SMS; the photos lack sharpness with all details muddy to a point where the image looks like a painting. I'd prefer to a photo at ISO 25,600 and deal with the noise instead of the paste that this app produces..Version: 1.0.2

Resolution on iPad is a joke.Really disappointing about the image resolution on 2021 iPad Pro, with the latest M1 chip, 8G RAM and best of best NPU results only 1920*1440?????? iPhone X can takes larger resolution than the iPad Pro..Version: 4.0.3

Took too many photos to get a good oneCamera preview is very laggy on the iPhone XS sometimes when you take a photo it does not save it also darkens the photo (sometimes) It does take good low light selfies (I only tried once) It uses the telephoto lenses when you click 2x zoom You would be better off using flash for selfies and turning up the exposure for photos This is a paid app it has in app purchases to get more megapixels with A.I I can not make excuses for a paid app do not waste your money I want a refund!.Version: 5.0.5

Poor resultsThe pictures look very similar to photos taken with the regular camera app but edited to be brightened. Really wanted this to be good :(.Version: 1.1.1

Horrible Night Mode Camera AppI feel like I was set up based on a few You Tube recommendations of this App if you are not ready to upgrade to the iPhone 12. Photos taken using this App are slow, noisy- COME OUT Grainy and Blurry. Reviews I read were from last year at the $2.99 price. So when I saw that it is currently $5.99 I said to myself “Oh, Great they must have made additional enhancements to further justify the price increase.” Boy was I WRONG!!! This App is a Total let down and I’d like a REFUND. Looks like I’ll be updating to the iPhone 12 PRO sooner than I thought!.Version: 4.0.3

Saves at low resolution.Would have been nice to know that it wouldn’t save at full resolution on my 8 Plus before I spent the money. 1920x1440, not even 3 megapixels. Edit to add: My bad for not reading here closely enough. I had read an article about this app at Digital Photography Review before searching for it at the App Store, assuming the article was thorough enough..Version: 1.0

DisappointedI recently attained the new iPhone 11 Pro MAX and I was using the new night mode on my camera and wanted to compare it to an app that I thought would have more experience in the matter. I bought this app and took the same picture with the standard iPhone 11 Pro’s night mode, and this app’s night mode. The iPhone’s results were much clearer and it looked like a real photo, whereas this app’s results were just about as useless as my eyes for seeing in the dark. I know it’s only a few $$ for this app, but it is not worth it. The app also has a major lag when it’s in automatic mode, and it keeps making multiple sporadic shutter sounds after pressing the capture image button once. I apologize for being critical, but I think this app needs it, and hopefully the money I probably won’t get refunded back, knowing Apple, will go towards making this app a little bit better..Version: 1.2.1

No  watch support and paywallCan you make watch app as well so we can use watch screen to take a pic when leaving iPhone positioned to take a shot? Basically functionality of  camera app. I paid for this app and now you putting features behind subscription paywall!!! I will never buy any app from this dev. If camera app would be subscription based from beginning I would never buy it and so 100% of people who trusted you and paid. Shady tactics!!!.Version: 1.4

UnimpressiveThe new "remove all people" option seems to just auto-apply a patch tool around the people identified in the photo. It does a decent job of identifying people, but a patch tool is a patch tool. The results are not good. As for the other AI modes, I'm yet to get a good result in any mode, and sometimes the app just slows right down to the point of being unusable..Version: 6.0.0

Bought this app because it had no in app purchasesPaid for an app without in app purchases or subscription, now it has a subscription plan. Shouldn't be allowed..Version: 1.4

Not working iphone 7Used to be great. Now crash everytime on iphone 7.Version: 3.0.3

Waste of moneyThis app takes worse photos than the native Camera app. They appear washed out and blurry, especially compared side-by-side with the same photo taken by the default Camera app. Use the default Camera app or use a DSLR, because no app can make your phone camera better than it is..Version: 5.0.4

App crashes continuouslyAfter the latest update (2.0), the app crashes every time it tries to process a photo. Running on iPhone 8, iOS 13.3.1. Never had such issues in the past..Version: 2.0

Honestly trashIts really disappointing how little it does, and it clips the highlights in a really ugly way, street lamps skew yellow in an unpleasant way..Version: 4.0.3

After I read a lot of reviews from Google about this app I bought it but it’s a waste of timeThere is plenty of reviews of this app. But it doesn’t work properly. I have an iPhone SE 2020 and it’s like nothing. Don’t waste your money. I would like to upload a picture to show the result but here you can’t..Version: 5.0.5

Garbage everything is set to auto. This app is a waste of time everything is set to auto and there’s no way to set a long exposure unless it’s really dark. This app is no different to the stock version. I’m requesting a refund.Version: 6.2.0

Waste of moneyActually the photos taken by this app are very bad; it's just a set of parameters that don't improve the quality of the photo. After one year I had installed it, I literally never saved a picture because it looked super bad. Now I just regret wasting money for this..Version: 4.0.3

Refund please!!Not happy at all! Pictures are no different from the ones taken with camera software only. Refund please! I am very disappointed.Version: 2.2.1

Keeps crashingThe latest version keeps crashing!.Version: 5.0.5

Camera is not workingBought this app from the Apple Store. The camera wasn’t able to finish processing. Don’t waste your money on this app like I did. I wrote to the support, but nothing happened. Just no support..Version: 1.2.3

Useful dim light photo appBought this off the back of a recommendation on Macbreak Weekly. It does give better images than the stock camera app on my Xs Max (better detail, less blocking) but is only useful for static shots as it works by keeping the shutter open for longer to gather more information. This also means you need to keep the phone as still as possible whilst shooting. Nothing to complain about - the app can’t fight physics or upgrade the camera module in your phone. I have reduced the app by one star from the four I would give it because of the recent update changing the icon to a really jarring starburst on a white background (I’m using a dark wall paper to disguise the notch). Please revert to (or give the option of swapping to) the old one. I’m not going to delete the app but it may get moved off my home screen (unless I create a shortcut and stick that in it’s place). The name change from Neural Cam to NightMode is a bit meh as well but not going to die in a ditch over it. Overall good app, cheapened by the latest redesign..Version: 3.0.0

Loved it until...... into out stopped working with the front camera. Once Brilliant, now disappointed..Version: 3.0.3

Just Shutter Speed (?)As I know technics of photography as an advanced hobbyist - it feels like all this app does is reducing the shutter speed, while Apple introduces its night shots like just taking a photo, even if you don’t see anything. Therefore no blur caused from movement whatsoever. This app, in lower light environments - just reduces the shutter speed, causing me trouble to get a steady shot, then it takes multiple photos - but the end result is still blurry. As someone who knows how to do it manually, this app is unnecessary. I was excited for this app, but got disappointed from the results. I’m sorry guys, I know the hard work that goes into development, and I hope you’ll do make something interesting out of my 3$..Version: 1.1.1

Impressive, but needs some more workPretty fantastic app, especially for the selfie and ultra wide night mode features in the 11 series. However, I find the Ultrawide night mode to be...lacking. Details and brightness aren’t very grea,t, but that could be due to hardware limitations rather than the app. Perhaps if the devs manage to improve this...somehow, it would bump the rating up. Another criticism I have is that the app in general is a little buggy. Entering my photo I had just taken and zooming in causes it to enlarge itself and offset off the side of my phone. The picture will then refuse to reorient itself and I have to close the picture and just open it in the stock photos app. All in all, pretty impressed that the developers managed to make a night mode app for older phone models and even managed to get night mode to work on all cameras for the 11 series. Hopefully over time, improvements will be made for better details and brightness for the Ultrawide and Selfie cameras..Version: 1.2.1

Not worth the moneySure it works it takes way better photos in low light conditions, but at the cost of removing a fair bit of detail (for which it encourages you to spend an extra £3 to enhance the photos) it cannot take a picture of the night sky. You may get one or two stars in there if they’re bright enough but it’s really not worth £4.50. This should be free on iPhone anyway screw apple for not having night mode..Version: 5.0.5

Extremely laggy. The autofocus kept on focusing over and over. The laggy viewfinder is infuriating and the pictures turn out to be modest at best. Yes it’s brighter but poor in details. I wish I could refund it..Version: 1.2.1

Very LaggyI was unable to produce any pictures better than what I was getting with the default camera app. Also, there is a lot of lag from what is being shown and what you are pointing the lens at. It makes it very frustrating to use. The volume up button doesn’t work to take a picture. I know it says it in the description, but there are features behind a pay wall after you pay for the app. I don’t see the value in any of it..Version: 5.0.5

Does not work on iPhone XI bought this app based on previous review that I read. Tried it and didn’t notice any difference to the regular camera, so then paid extra for the IAP. Still no noticeable improvement. As this did not work as expected, I applied for a refund the same day. It was refused. I appealed, and again it was refused. I can only assume that as no reason was given, the refusal is down to the developers of the app. Usually when I buy something, I expect it to work. If it doesn’t, then you need to either make it work or give me back my money. Please convince me to give a better review..Version: 5.0.5

Don’t buy Just use IOS native cameraModern iOS night mode takes better photos than this. Try out the app and just want to see how it works without having to spend $? Good fkn luck. Don’t download, save yourself the pain.Version: 5.0.5

No Wide Colour Gamut SupportPhotos are only shot in the standard washed out sRGB instead of P3 Wide Colour. Waste of money. Don’t buy this app.Version: 4.0.2

Total RubbishJust wasted £5.99 on this app. It just doesn’t work. I took a photo of my garden with my iPhone X in low light and compared it to the standard. Very little difference. In fact I get pretty much exactly the same effect by choosing the vivid effect in the ios photo app and then turning uo the brightness. Tried all the exposure and tripod settings. All made little difference. At no point do I see the type of differences shown in their examples on the app store. You don’t get more of the image exposed, just a warmer brighter version of what you normally get. Which xab be achieved in post photo edit in the standard ios app. Very poor, and will delete (after less than a days use) as it’s taking valuable space on my iphone..Version: 3.1

The latest update sucksWhen I bought this app it was working well. After an update I never used this app as it degrade the quality of image. Today recieved the update the biggest update after update I found developer wants money and I can not restore my subscription. Money graber..Version: 5.0.1

There is no iPad version of this appThe UI on iPad is simply zoomed iPhone app..Version: 2.2.1

Mediocre at best. Avoid for now.Very similar in performance to other apps like Hydra/NightCap/ProShoot. It attempts to use a longer exposure time, requiring a still hand, to capture a photo. I don’t see evidence of effective ‘AI processing’. For now, save your money and avoid..Version: 1.0

Deserves no starsIn fact it owes me stars. This $9 app takes horrible pictures. A waters of absolute money and time. YOU ARE BETTER OF WITH THE NATIVE CAMERA APP I PROMISE!.Version: 3.0.3

Very Ordinary PerformanceI am using iphone7 and I had high hopes for this app but actually disappointed me, infact they increased the proce from 3.99 GBP to 5.99 GBP the same day , I know coz when I was trying to putchase it when proce was 3.99 it gave me error and later price increased, I expected it to perfom well but the app is so slow on Iphone7 , you also can't set the exposure time and the finally processed photo has dark spots around the corners of the frame.Version: 1.3

Definitely eye catching if you don’t have an iPhone 11I was under the impression this app takes multiple pics and forms on good one from those.. but your results won’t be different than using the native camera app, turning OFF hdr, and slightly adjusting more light to come in.. same results only must quicker than this app.. hoping for the app to be like googles “night sight” or iphones “night mode” I was let down.. wouldn’t recommend buying this app unless they did a solid update for the iPhone XS or 8.. since you can get the same results on the native camera app...Version: 1.2.3

Used to be good appThen switched to subscription model after you live paid for the app already..Version: 1.4

Used to be betterThis app used to be amazing. My iPhone XS and SE 2020 got great night mode photos out of this app, but then they updated it and the app crashes if a scene is actually dark enough to need the app. I have no idea how to fix it and uninstalling does not help. They locked a lot of features behind a paywall too, like upscaling, and the app costs money to begin with. It’s sad to see a good thing go down like this. I hope they fix it..Version: 5.0.5

Can I get a refund?Tried it and it’s not for me. I’m okay with not having this night mode feature. Too grainy and extra slow..Version: 4.0.2

Ruined by SubscriptionThis app used to be amazing. Then they introduced the very overpriced subscription. I don’t mind supporting developers for updates but for what this is, there is no reason to pay the amount they are asking for to subscribe even yearly. Unless this is offloading images to their servers, $35/year is way too much. It also shouldn’t even offload to their servers as that’s severely dangerous. I wouldn’t mind paying $10/year or $1/month. But at $5/month and $35/year, that’s just highway robbery. I recommend finding other options unfortunately. Sad to see so many devs ruin their products with subscriptions..Version: 1.4

Selfie cam no longer works after update! The selfie cam on my iPhone SE (2016) stopped working after an update in July or early August; every time I use it it freezes. Emailed NeuralCam support and received no answer! This needs to be fixed..Version: 3.0.1
