Breathwrk: Daily Breathing for Negative User Reviews

Dose this app help with…Dose this app help with anxiety? Because ive been suffering from anxiety maybe the past month and its not going well..Version: 10.51

Don’t get itThey have a session that is described as 4 seconds in and 6 seconds out. But they then coach you at 4 sec in 4 sec out. It would be a somewhat useful app if it were even accurate. I mean if you can count you don’t need this program..Version: 9.10

Good - but could be betterI’m enjoying this app a lot. I like the structure it can bring my day with a morning, afternoon, and evening breathing exercise. However, I’m really disappointed after signing up to Pro that I can’t use it offline. Wanted to use it on my long flight recently and there’s no way to do so. App FAQs say to switch on offline mode, and download them, but this option doesn’t seem to exist. Please make offline as soon as possible!.Version: 9.70

Not the best appI’m 10 and I have this app for my anxiety and stress and when I got up today it told me to GET THE F**K UP!!! in those exact letters and words I do not recommend this app.Version: 3.4

Amazing app annual sign up is too muchI’ve had the app for a short while and it’s helping in these difficult times but being locked out for anything over 1 min on the free version is a pain and puts me off. I’d be happy to sign up and pay monthly but committing to a year is too much. The actual amount is fine but I don’t want to be tied in which is a shame. The exercises seem really useful in different scenarios and it’s very simple interface and its illustrated allows easy focus..Version: 4.5.5

Not greatBad ux design , everything costs money now.Version: 13.3

Nice but not inclusiveThis app is good for anxiety, sleep, and relaxation and becomes effective when it’s been used for a while. You have to pay to access all exercises and sounds but there are plenty others there if not. The only problem is that I can’t select a gender when signing up because it only provides 3 - Female, Male, and Non-binary. I also can’t change my name so I still have my dead name there. Other than that good app..Version: 6.4

Handy app but notifications don’t work?Breathing exercises are handy but for some reason I don’t get notifications when its time for an exercise? Notifications are enabled in both app and my phone settings. Too bad, as I feel like having an active reminder to actually take a breathing break is half the battle..Version: 9.70

Finally things fixed..Version 7.25 spoken too soon, sound still doesn’t work when starting session.. —->Version 7.20 finally stuff below fixed. Also correct adding to total breaths seem work now, so far if I did 60 in Energize it was adding nothing or handful at the end. I’m glad of fixes, unfortunately for many weeks I had to cope with all of it and my feedback was ignored, and that is not right.. ——> This is for latest 7.15 and basically still not fixed: sound out-of-sync with visual for Stimulate, Sleep.. For example Sleep which is 4 inhale-7 hold-8 exhale and I pick 2:32 duration and about half time on inhale sound visual already shows hold counting. Energize , Dream, Calm often no sound when started, have to pause, go to Sound and tap it off/on and resume to get sound working. The stuff above may work first time if you completely close app. I’m paying for it but I feel like I should be getting my money back while app do not work as it supposed to. I have been voicing the same issues for last 3 updates and I’m slowly giving up. It’s rarely you see good app with such bad execution..Version: 7.25

Not a great customer experienceI tried to contact them as described in their communications but no one has gotten back to me.Version: 14.0

Beware, unscrupulous venderLatest version is full of critical bugs that make the app unusable Also beware of purchasing subscriptions outside the app store. i am unable to see when the subscription period is and I am unable to prevent this app from charging my card in the future as there is no cancel functionality if you purchase outside the store. I would avoid purchasing this app outside the app store unless you want to chase these venders down to avoid potentially endless charges..Version: 8.20

Sloppy and hard to followI’ve tried six different sessions. Instructors talk non-stop, talk too quickly, count too many things and count too fast. Constant, fast chatter is not conducive to relaxation. They also mis-pronounce basic terminology (eg the word is ‘autoNOMic’) and don’t allow for breathing exercises to be completed slowly and mindfully. Noisy, busy, amateurish. I’m a qualified meditation teacher and I won’t be using this any more. Try the free weekly subscription before you spend money. Very disappointing..Version: 9.70

Paid and no access to contentPaid for the premium content and never got access to it. Sent emails and no one got back to me. Horrible costumer service.Version: 14.5

Version 7.25I find this app very, very helpful and really like some of the breaths on it, I have been using it for almost a year, and often recommend it to friends and family. However, the app often falls over towards the end of each month and I feel this is a real problem that has not been successfully addressed by the systems development department. Recently, at the end of October/ beginning of November 2021 the app did not adjust my monthly or weekly totals or run streak for a number of days and I am a subscriber! I have contacted the app but had no reply yet and I am disappointed..Version: 7.25

PayingFor the stress relief and other stuff i need,i have to pay,im still a child and have no money ,plus it's unnecessary, why pay for something i need on an app that helps with it??.Version: 10.63

Pay to UseThe app is impossible to use if you can’t afford to pay for Pro. I downloaded to help with anxiety and pain management and I can’t even open any of the exercises because I can’t afford it..Version: 6.5

I like this app except for one major thingI really like this app except for one thing that has been bothering me for years: there’s no way for users to manually set their day so the counter automatically determines when your day starts and when it stops. This is very frustrating when you are trying to get a certain streak number. In addition, I don’t think that it is right that we don’t have the opportunity to turn off the streak counter. Sometimes that distract me and gives me anxiety, which defeats the purpose of this app! This app should not give me anxiety while also, trying to help me take it away. I also suggest that the music in the guided meditations was available for the non-guided meditations. I would love the continuous music and the breathing cues without the talking..Version: 11.30

Give Us a ChanceI've had Breathwrk for a good while now and think highly enough of it that I bought the premium version. It is so worth it, as I like to do longer meditations to work on the flow of breath. It's helped me literally take in & release oxygen greater than I've ever known how to breathe Lol. When I feel the vibrations of the inhale it soothes me. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because of the daily streaks. I am a neurodivergent, busy mompreneur. I'd be more apt to use it daily if the developers gamified or incentivized how we can keep the streak run if we miss a day or so. Please consider allowing us 2-3 available days to freeze our streaks so we won't lose it altogether. We could pay for a streak freeze through earned rewards, (premium like myself), or cash. I then become disappointed in myself but understand life happening when I go back to the app the next time. The disappointment visually to be back at 0 days after missing one sometimes will keep me away from the app. To always start over vs. pause is unreasonable to me; it'll cause me to have further anxiety (a need to breathe). Please look out for the neurodivergent/ADHD/autistic folks of the world who are naturally more forgetful and busier minded than typical..Version: 14.0

I love this app but LOWER THE PRICE!!!I would've given this app 5 stars, but just recently they made 'Energize', one of the formerly free exercises exclusive to premium. This has disturbed me, not because it necessarily makes the app completely innacessible just yet, but it displays a sign that it is beginning to head down that path. 'Energize' was one of my most frequently used exercises, so I did consider buying premium, but I saw that it was wayy too overpriced for an app I'd assume most people would use for 5 minutes a day. I really like this app, and I don't want it to get to the point where it is so inaccessible that I have no choice but to uninstall it..Version: 10.70

Good Exercises, Poor UIThe breathing exercises are great and the visualizations and instructions are good, but the app is over-complicated. There are too many additional screens that pop up after finishing an exercise, the “now” page feels overwhelming with an exercise sort of shoved in your face that auto plays, I avoid that tab completely. The schedule is nice, but after my phone has been on airplane mode and I click an exercise it often brings me to the “Subscribe” page, where I have to either close down the app or click the plan I already have, only to be told I already have it, then the app begins functioning again. Also some instructions for exercises are above the visualizations and some are hidden in the info section and a couple of the primary circular visualizations wont show. The ability to turn off vibration mode for the exercises (which drains phone battery rapidly) should be in the settings tab for all exercises, so I don’t have to manually shut it off for every individual exercise. App UI was better a year ago. Not sure what they are trying to do, it could be so much simpler and more functional. I want to love this app. Literally remove the excess and it’s 5 stars. This is a breath app, keep it simple..Version: 14.0

Can’t openIt seems like a really cool app, but I can’t get it to open. Every time I try it just freezes and then crashes..Version: 9.40

Premium ruined it.Premium ruined it..Version: 4.0

So data heavy!I don’t understand why, but this app (which I used to use on occasion only) was taking up 4 GB of storage. I tried checking the settings for a way to clear my cache or something but no. Just decided to delete because it’s not worth being the single highest storage user of my phone above iOS itself.Version: 10.91

Be Careful!!!I absolutely loved this app when I got it and used it many times a day. Unfortunately during one ‘dream’ breath I actually fainted and hurt my neck on our cabinetry. This app should come with warnings to perhaps not participate while standing! Also the customer service is terrible. I got locked out of the paid aspects prior to the fainting and emailed customer service who took 20 days to respond and didn’t even address my issue. I would be wary of this app. I cancelled and got a refund..Version: 8.0

App for Apple Watch?Beautiful app, but why you don’t have the app for the watch too? Could be very useful! Hope it will come sooner or later..Version: 10.15

OverpricedI love this app, I’ve used this almost everyday since I first discovered this app. It really has helped me when I needed a break from the world. But I cant say the same now. The price is utterly ridiculous for a monthly subscription, I’m on a fixed income and i just cannot afford something like this anymore. The $10/month price tag is just unjustified at this point and the sad part is— all of my favorite experiences are locked BEHIND the paywall! Especially the ‘migraine’ exercise which helps with managing my migraine attacks. You’d think something as debilitating as migraines are that thousands of people suffer here in this country could at least be a free resource. But no, they really be greedy imo. I know they have this buy one get one thing and they usually do giveaways but unfortunately since I was subscribed to them in the past I’m pretty much unable to get the discount. Oh well, it’s been a good 3 years but I really cannot afford this anymore..Version: 14.0

Love the app but can be improvedEdit: i signed up for a free 7 day trial for the paid version but all the features are still locked, even after reinstalling the app. First of all: I use the app daily as it supports me strongly on my health journey. But: I find that I prefer the “old” visualizations better (circle following a line or circle growing small and bigger) instead of those newer visualizations (text in front of a moving landscape) of the daily classes. Why? You can’t see how long you are supposed to breathe in and out, so you are always guessing the first time around and you can’t anticipate what happens next with those newer visualizations. If you could at least add a seconds timer which counts backwards under the breathe in and breathe out line, that would help. And I find that the moving landscape back and forth stresses me out, but I am not sure if that’s just taste. Besides: keep up the good work!.Version: 14.0

DisappointingI tried the 1 week trial and found the app to be quite useful. Tons of different breathing and exercises backed by great science. The app is great. So once the trial was over I decided to continue with the subscription. The payment was processed but now I can’t access the premium exercises. I don’t know if this is a glitch or what but I reached out by email 3 times and never heard back. App is great, customer service could definitely improve. I requested a refund..Version: 9.40

Excellent content, but wld change gameficationBreathwrk deserves a 5/5 review, and think these changes would do it for me: 1- A more austere, just the exercises experience of the app 2- Goal oriented progressive programs, similar to a training routine at the gym. The main attraction, the breathing techniques are great. I don’t have long Covid, but came to breathing work after hearing about the hope it was giving people with LC. If it was not for the strength of the content, my rating would be 2 out of 5. For me, personally, the gamefying of the app does nothing for me. The badges, the pop-ups at the end of an exercise, the streaks, advertising that John 1000s of KM away is also using the app. . . I find these features cloying and can’t skip them fast enough. I probably don’t use the app as much because these features. Second wish: I would be interest in more progressive goal based programs, similar to what you might find at the gym. For example, a program that is intended to develop x overf 6 weeks. Maybe these programs are there, andI have not found them yet. However, the app seems a bit too self directed. This might sound like I am talking out of both sides of my mouth, but to me, the current approach is disorganized and is based on “rewards” that bug me. The other is more organized, and something I can select b/c ot pertains to a performance goal that is of interest to me..Version: 11.10

Love the app but...I love this app and use it everyday but there's been an issue recently where the streak is not updating. My streak stopped at 173 days when I haven't missed a day. It keeps resetting to day 1 when I continue to use it daily..Version: 13.4

Exercises still locked after paying for a monthly subscription??I’ve just purchased your subscription for a month and most of the breathing exercises are still locked. A message appears saying url session failed? The money has been taken out of my bank account so I am not happy!!.Version: 14.0

Charging subscription when it was cancelledI am really struggling with this company. I emailed to cancel my subscription and was told I had no active membership - despite being sent an email staying an annual fee was going to be charged. I could not sign in to the platform in any way - and despite being told I didn't have a membership, was still charged a renewal. Now it's complete silence despite sending messages on every platform I can. I just want a refund but am getting no help. Avoid signing up to any sort of membership given lack of response..Version: 14.5

Good app, stopped workingI used it a couple times and it was good. For free you can access a good few breathing exercises that seemed to work. Only 2 stars because it would constantly recommend breathing techniques that you only found out were locked (until you pay) when you clicked on them, which was very frustrating. I don’t mind parts being locked, but don’t openly force them on the user when they can’t use them. Also, after the latest update the app won’t even open for me. It force closed the first several times I tried and then, once, the app opened into a blank home screen and stayed like that till I shut it down. If you want to pay your experience may be different, but the free experience hasn’t worth it for me..Version: 9.20

Turn vibration offI can’t the the vibration off during breath exercises. It really distracts me and I can’t relax..Version: 11.21

App GlitchesEvery time I use the app and finish a session it glitches out and I have to restart the app. Otherwise it’s a cool concept with some neat exercises. Too bad I probably won’t use it much more if it keeps up with the issues..Version: 14.0

Won’t cancel my subscriptionI signed up to a subscription through their site (not Apple) as they had a special going. I have tried to cancel my subscription using their website instructions and sending an email to them with no response in over 4 weeks. I got charged for another full year despite contacting them 2 weeks in advance. Wouldn’t normally leave a review because of this but they have not returned any of my emails..Version: 11.21

Is it free?I liked this App to start with- was easy to use and advertised as free but after a few weeks it stopped working properly without me having to pay. When I looked at the App again there’s many different purchase prices? Why? I live with chronic pain and suffer with multiple physical and mental health issues and stumbled across this great App via online support groups. I hate it when Apps are advertised as free and then you suddenly have to start paying for them. Where’s the transparency? Apple are not helpful since removing prices from App logos. What does ‘get’ mean? Is it free or do you have to pay ( one off/ongoing)..Version: 4.0.2

Lost access to classes due to premiumThis app used to be very helpful, for free I had access to just enough to help me feel better on a daily basis. But because of premium, I no longer have access to some of the help I used to be able to use for free. For example, some classes used to be free and be very helpful, but as of recently they've all become part of the premium package. Saddly I'll have to resort to different help since this app leaves me nothing to work with..Version: 10.70

Awful haptics won’t switch offI was loving this app and subscribed and recommended it to so many people. Since then they added these awful haptics - the phone intrusively buzzing the entire time. You have the option on each exercise to switch it off but it doesn’t work. I’ve started and restarted so many times, unchecked the haptics box and still it buzzes. Now totally unuseable as too intrusive and irritating. Literally can’t put it on any surface without it making a huge jangling racket..Version: 7.0

Rip OffStarted using this app and had access to everything. Then all of a sudden I have to pay to access 2/3 of its features. What kind of rort is this? There was no mention that there was a timer attached to my access. No mention that it was a trail. I want my full access restored!.Version: 4.0.2

WHERE IS NIGHT MODE??Look honestly this is a great app but since it’s blinding myself at night I can’t rate it more than 3 stars. Please have a night mode in settings.Version: 10.30

Access to breath work exercisesYeah, I can agree, this app has amazing exercises for people suffering with many conditions. Personally, I like them too, but the lack of exercises that I can access can affect me in a way. Pretty much most of the exercises require ‘breathwrk’ pro and I can’t make online purchases. I also don’t want to pay for something I barely use. I suffer from anxiety, adhd and shortness of breath, and episodes that are associated with those issues don’t happen regularly. So I could only use this app when I need it..Version: 11.10

I was deleted by the app- Breathwrk is no helpI changed carriers from AT&T to T-Mobile. When I tried to log back into this app, it told me that “user has been deleted“. I have since sent two emails to the developers and I have not received any kind of help. I have been without this app for almost 2 weeks already. I paid for a full year subscription. I’m only 4 months in to the year subscription and I’m not able to access the app. I feel like my emails are being dumped into this vast hole of emails that they don’t intend on responding to. This is very disappointing and upsetting. I have recommended this app to numerous people. It has help me with my anxiety and with my panic attacks, but this is ridiculous. I paid for this app and I can’t get any access to it because I was deleted by the app and no one can help me get back in..Version: 13.1

Well that’s differentI did not try the paid version. I tested two different free ones. One seemed ok so I tried the calm one while in a anxiety attack that was leading to panic. I’m not sure where they got the idea that breathing in and out fast was going to calm anyone. During the 4 minutes it changed the breathing technique several times. Almost seemed as if on purpose to confuse the body and mind. After the season I still felt jittery but overall confused. Not calm. Then we’ll maybe calm. It did seem to break my thought process which often times doesn’t happen with deep breathing. The other one I tried was their stress series. That one seemed pretty good and almost convinced me to buy the full version. Thankfully I tested out more. I’ve been doing breathing exercises for years due to anxiety and panic. Typically I use the mindfulness on my watch or the calm app. I wanted to try something different as having choices is nice. I’m still not sure if this is for me. The quick breathing felt odd and as if at times it was increasing the feelings I was looking to calm. I am grateful they give users an opportunity to try things before buying. So many apps do not allow such access or they give a free trial trying to lock everyone in to a plan..Version: 10.80

Too priceyThe app is nice but i just think it’s a shame how you need to pay to 95% of the features. There’s only about 3 free breathing exercices. It would be nice if there were more free features please. I’m just a student trying to get myself together..Version: 10.80

Love although not appreciating the new update since it didn’t keep my previous infoWhat a helpful app. The alleviate and calm breathings are my favorite! I have a terrible tendency to hold my breath which I’m sure is part of whyI love this appmy blood pressure is too high. I shared theses breaths with some family members the next day after we had gotten into a yucky fight. All four of us breathed together using these two breaths (you can talk even the most cynical into doing something for 1 min 20 seconds) and then they were happy to continue for the 1 min. I wish it was available for huawei for my mom I look forward to to buying the whole app soon. In the in between time, I am happy to be able to breathe better. Updated sept 9 I’m still amazed, greatly enjoying and utilizing this healing breath app and would love to purchase it. It helps me with my multiple sclerosis quite a lot, unfortunately it’s this same multiple sclerosis that keeps me from being able to afford the $69. 99 yearly price tag since I can no longer work. I’m glad at least to have access to the free app version. Thank you 🙏🏼.Version: 9.0

Still locked after I paidI’ve emailed you guys with no response. I have paid for this and it is still locked. Where do I contact you to resolve this.Version: 9.30

Can’t count the breathsI’ve used this app for a while and for the most part it’s great, a lot is for a very expensive membership though. However, it can’t count the breaths you do per session. in the pre made awake breathing routine, you do about 40 breaths but it only says that you do 30. This wouldn’t bother me too much but, they have a leader board (monthly and weekly) that is completely wrong. with the top breather having 717million breaths a week, that works out to be 1,185.5 breaths per SECOND a week which is totally impossible.Version: 10.62

Impossible to cancelApp subscription does not show up in Apple Settings -> Subscriptions. No option to cancel inside app, they direct you to the website. Supposedly you have to login to manage your subscription but if you created an account with an Apple Id it won’t log you in to the site as it gives an error saying ‘user does not have a password’. There is no option to reset your password, so I’m unable to cancel my subscription that they set to auto renew..Version: 14.5

Not many classesBeen a user for several months, lack of updated classes is disappointing. Ill likely cancel premium soon due to lack of new content, very repetitive..Version: 11.21

Good exercise but functionality lacking.I really like the breathing exercise but not being able download and save your favorites for offline use is a big omission in my opinion. I travel a lot and quite often need to use the app on planes or where there is poor connectivity and currently the app just doesn’t allow for that so it simply won’t work properly without good internet. I hope the developers remedy this soon. Until then won’t upgrade to paid..Version: 14.6

Small, annoying glitchesI paid for the app for 1 year. I used it almost daily for breathing before bedtime with my kids. They loved the calm and bedtime options and I loved that the breaths were short enough to incorporate into a bedtime routine. However, there were a ton of small, annoying issues that never improved. (I sent an email and never received a response.) The sound effects don’t line up with the image, the ball doesn’t follow the line, the breathing cue doesn’t match the ball or the music- it varies depending on the breath (and some work perfect every time). Every time we used the wind down breath activity on the home page, the app crashed when we finished. For an app that should be relaxing, it was annoying. Also, there didn’t seem to be anything new added for casual users. The kid breaths were great but very limited. I am just not sure what my $40 (bought it on Black Friday 2022) went toward. I did not purchase it again this year..Version: 14.5
