Meridian 157: Chapter 1 for Negative User Reviews

Baffling at timesOk game but some of the puzzles don’t feel logical. I haven’t finished it yet but feel like giving up. I don’t expect puzzles to be easy but I do expect them to make sense. I’ve done a couple now that seem to have no logic apart from hit or miss. Even knowing the answer doesn’t help work it out..Version: 1.0.8

Unintuitive puzzlesI admire the effort but finally gave up and deleted the game. I’ve played all 4 Room games without hints and only needed to go online twice for help. I’ve also played Gorogoa without assistance. But I needed to visit a walkthrough through site multiple times to figure out some of these puzzles that are so unintuitive. One site even said that the solution for one was confusing. More power to the people that can figure this out. When one of your reviewers says they’re stupid and needed to turn on hints, maybe it’s a problem with your gameplay..Version: 1.0.6

A bit shortThe game was okay enough but i didn't feel that it was all that long. It ended when it was getting interesting.Version: 1.0.7

Speedy puzzle gameIf you are looking for something to full in the void of games like the room, this is a speedy quick round of puzzles. Some of the puzzles are straight forward, missing an item, go and find it. Some of the puzzles need a bit of thought, complete the sequence, and some of them without hints make no sense at all. The levers, the circles on the door. Hints shouldn’t solve puzzles! Lol.Version: 1.0.7

DisjointedI had to continue because i paid money for the game. Didn’t enjoy it at all. Basically used the solver to finish..Version: 1.1.0

Moche.Version: 1.1.3

Stuck!I don’t find the game too difficult, just enough to stretch my brain cells but I have become well and truly stuck. The only hint I’m getting is “ there’s a knife hidden in the metal cabinet”. It would be really handy if there was an opportunity to have two or even three clues . I’d love to keep playing and progress. Can anyone help?.Version: 1.1.3

Decent puzzles but....A nicely produced game with an engaging story, nice graphics and pleasant ambient sounds, however, one or two of the puzzles are way too simple yet at least two have such a level of obscurity that they defy any form of logical solution. That said, I just purchased the next Chapter..Version: 1.1.3

Lost interestI lost interest trying to solve puzzles that made no sense and still didn’t after watching a walkthrough. Sorry... not going to try finishing the game. Puzzles are too vague..Version: 1.0.7

Good Fun, Could Be Better! For the most part I truly enjoyed the game. The graphics were nicely done and the tone of the story was pleasantly mysterious. My least favorite parts were the “spatial reasoning puzzles” where parts have to be put in the right order to make things function. They have nothing to do with moving the story along nor do they have any connection to the problem at hand, just filler that eats up some time and makes the game play out longer. To me, they are tedious and the most silly part of this kind of puzzle game. If I want that kind of boring crap I’ll play a rousing game of Sudoku. I feel like I’m getting short-changed paying for an escape game that is fraught with tiresome filler. I’ll probably get the next game in the series (with lowered expectations) but will most likely take the shortcut around the banal “shuffle the pieces” segments. Nice game, but you can do better..Version: 1.1.3

Don't understand the positive reviewsThis game is derivative of Glitch games and not nearly as fun to play. The camera does not let you put a picture up when trying to solve a puzzle which is annoying. The puzzles themselves can be frustrating, mostly because it can be easy to miss some important items. Instead of getting hooked and wanting to figure out the next puzzle, I am finding myself putting my phone down, which I suppose in a way is better for me anyway....Version: 1.1.6

Clueless… poor puzzlesThis was a good game until chapter 2. Impossible to figure out what to do without always hitting the clue button. No indication within the game as to what is going on. The garage door puzzle was completed correctly once I took a clue and found a most obscure resolution. Then when I set the levers, nothing happened. I had to go into the clue and get it to solve the puzzle, in the exact way I had, and then the garage door opened. I’m done. I don’t care how it works out, this was not fun, but a waste of $3..Version: 1.1.7

Entertaining gameHad fun playing but some of the puzzles were a bit ridiculous, unless you’re a super puzzle nerd which I’m obviously not. Thanks for the game..Version: 1.1.5

Not that impressedI played the prologue and it intrigued me, so I was excited to see there were two chapters to purchase and play. However now after I played the first chapter i am sure glad I waited to purchase the second chapter. Most of the puzzles were confusing even after I got the solution from hints. They just made no sense to me. The comprehension of how you got to the result just did not click. That made the game boring and frustrating. I do like to be challenged in these game, its part of the fun, but if you are left totally clueless, even after the hints, it’s just a waste of time and money. In addition the ending of the first chapter gives you no sense of accomplishment. It’s like the game stopped in the middle ... to be continued??? Give me some sign that I got somewhere in the storyline! I would not recommend and I will not purchase chapter 2.Version: 1.0.8

DisappointedThis hasn’t really lived up to expectations after playing the prologue. Firstly it failed on length of game! As soon as I saw it was chapter one I knew it was going to be a 2-3 hour at the most costing £2 every chapter. It could and should of been a 5-6 hour game! The graphics and rendering were pretty scrappy, and the mechanics felt clunky. The Story was very week, forgot why or what I was doing there. I felt the puzzles were disconnected from the story and some of the puzzles were really too obscure! Lacked Atmosphere and direction. So it was just very average. Shame! I probably wouldn’t get the next one..Version: 1.0.6

Pretty good gameI love these types of games. I’ve been through the Room series, Eyes of Aura, and a few others. I’m generally pretty good at puzzle games. I mostly enjoyed this game. My only hesitation in making a firmer recommendation is a few of the puzzles didn’t make sense to me even after I had the answer. I found myself looking at the puzzle and the answer and still not seeing how you could get from A to B. Still good enough that I will look for Chapter 2.Version: 1.0.7

Slow uninspired gameplay, obscure puzzles.Sorry but couldn’t really get immersed in this like other games of its genre, progress is too slow and puzzles too obscure. Decided to give up as it just became frustrating, going over the same small ground the whole time without getting anywhere. Gameplay is a little static and doesn’t really draw you in or amaze as in other games of its type such as The Room which I downloaded after this and is absolutely stunning!.Version: 1.1.0

Not LogicalI can’t get my head around some of the puzzles. What am I missing? For instance the books in the book case, I know the answer now but only because I used the cheat, can someone explain why the answer is so random? How did you work it out other than trying lots of different combinations?.Version: 1.1.7

Too shortOk puzzles. Some great. Some way too easy. Wish I was paying for a FULL game. The idea of having to pay for each chapter when the first gave maybe an hour and half of game play is ridiculous. Not sure I’ll follow through despite the developers best efforts at a story line..Version: 1.0.7
