Bookclubs: Book Club Organizer for Positive User Reviews

Almost Perfect - missing one key elementMeetings need to have a comment section for members to post. Maybe they are a yes but will be 15 minutes late. Maybe a non-host wants to remind everyone to bring book suggestions. Many meetings are also potlucks so people need to post what they are bringing. Yes, there is a general messages section but it gets unwieldy for us to start a new message for every meeting called “Put comments here for March Meeting”. It would be so much better organized if we could comment directly in the meeting itself..Version: 2.8.8

Amazing!!!My book club is nerding out at how convenient this app is. It’s got a section for everything we’ve been really disorganized about: meeting dates, polls for the next book, a section to search/upload discussion questions. We’ve even started uploading book themed cocktails to the recipe section ..Version: 2.4.2

Love it!Great app. User friendly with all the features needed for a book club including chat where you can include attachments, polls and a search for books. It’s so wonderful to see a list of books read and put our ratings as well as keep a list of books we want to read. The monthly newsletters and book recommendations are helpful too:).Version: 2.5.8

Fantastic Way to keep your book club organized!Being in two book clubs that recently joined Book Club, how could someone not have thought about this earlier? It’s tremendous! Kudos to the developer!!.Version: 2.4.8

Almost perfectIt would be five stars if there was a way to show members of your group your progress on the book you are currently reading together, Kinda like how it displays on goodreads. And a way to “poke” members to remind them to stick to the deadline that our meeting is coming up!!!.Version: 2.4.4

Very handy for zoom book clubsI love how you can recommend books to your book club just by searching and posting. I WISH this app integrated with Goodreads so that I can share my Goodreads library to this app. The task of getting that information together to load into this app manually seems daunting. Overall love, but would be 5 stars if it integrated with Goodreads.Version: 2.6.1

Great App!So far really loving this app! Such ease on my phone and great features for our book club! We tried using the goodreads app but this one won! Love the feature that you can see our individual reviews under books we’ve read!.Version: 2.3.3

I want to love this appLet me start with the highlights ofthe great concepts in this app...easy to navigate and search for titles, easy to invite new members, RSVP, create polls, and keep track of past reading selections. But i find it inconsistent in communicating information. You input your address and contact info and select “share with club members” and then it only conveys your phone number and email, even if you’re hosting the meeting. Why not automatically show your address so you don’t have to retype it each time? Why isn’t it easier to populate the poll from the book recommendation list? Why, when I ask for notifications from the group do I persistently see “no notifications” but I have 20 missed messages from the group 🤷🏻‍♀️.Version: 2.2.2

Perfect for our book club! This app is perfect for our community book club. You don’t need anything special, just this app. I love it. The people that run this app are so helpful, they are always there to answer any question you might have. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 2.4.9

Updated -Developer has added suggested feature. Much better! Thanks for the fix. So my book club uses this app. There are many features I like, but this most recent update has no way of marking messages as read without clicking on them. So I have around 200 unread notifications. I’m not about to go back and read all these notifications (that I’m sure I’ve already seen) just to get this number to go away. Any chance you can add a mark all as seen button? Or something similar? It’s really frustrating seeing this on my phone screen now. As far as the rest of the app, the polling and messaging are great. The addition of direct messages has been nice though my group doesn’t use that much..Version: 2.5.3

Easy to use ..We are a small book group and find this app useful and convenient..Version: 2.9.7

Useful book club appGood app for book club management. Invite members, vote on books, create meetings, have a want to read list, etc. Only problem I’ve noticed so far is anytime there is a new activity, my app won’t update to reflect it until I close it completely and reopen..Version: 2.4.3

SuggestionIt would be great if I could see a "Meetings" tab in my profile so that I can view the upcoming meetings I RSVP'd "Yes" to. Lastly, I hope the app can give me a notification to let me know that a book meeting will take place soon..Version: 2.5.9

Great app - must have for book clubsWe did everything by email before we got this app and honestly, this is so much better. We can keep better track of what we want to read, what we have read, and when the meetings are. One suggestion I’d have is that when you put a book in the “want to read” section, it’d be great if you could have a description of the book there..Version: 2.2.2

The best book club app ever! Our bookclub has been using this app for years and it’s so easy to use! My favorite feature is the polling which makes picking a book so simple and effective..Version: 2.9.8

Nice app overallReally nice design and functionality overall. My one complaint is that when creating a new meeting, you have to search for the book every time. Why not have a drop-down list populated from the Currently Reading list?? Otherwise, love it!.Version: 2.7.4

User friendly for hostsI decided on a whim to start a book club, and this platform has made it so simple. I wanted to avoid using social media to communicate. This way people get notified through email but still communicate through the platform, which is easy to access through the website. I use the polling feature all the time. I’m very happy with this app and the fact that it’s free tops it..Version: 2.2.2

Great for book clubsWe have just started using this app and it’s been so great for our group. The free version gives you the ability to manage everything you could want for your group - polls for meeting times, polls that connect directly with the TBR list so that you can easily create book lists for each month. Each member can leave their own rating and review for each book read. The import book list section is really easy to use online so that you can keep track of each book your group has read. I particularly love that most of the books included with book clubs comes with a discussion guide!!!! No more searching the internet each month for book questions. It’s made everything we do so much easier - I love it..Version: 2.9.4

PERFECTION!!Bookclubs’ interface is visually lovely, and easy to move around! Everything needed for our bookclub can be found within the app! I adore it!! <3.Version: 2.4.5

Excellent but could be even more with updates!Love this app. There are a few updates/ease of access and organization that would make it even better! 1. Favorite authors section under “my books”. (Then when click on authors can navigate through their books) 2. WIDGET for IPhone users. 4. A start date and finished date for the book read. So you can see length of time it took. 5. A notes/comment section for yourself. 6. A Home Screen/ main page when app is opened. —Have a home page that combines all the key info. Current readings, the meeting time for the book club. A page that just gives the overall information and then you can click from there (kind of like mini widgets on one page)..Version: 2.8.8

Just What I Was Looking For…This app is perfect for what I needed. I had an idea for a Book Club, but didn’t want to have to develop a platform. I just knew there was something out there already. This is it! It is user-friendly, practical and has great features. I love the way you can share notifications with club members. I highly recommend this app..Version: 2.5.7

New to thisI’ve only been playing with this a day or so, I think I like the set up on the webpage better so far. I know the app has only been out a few months so I’m sure updates are coming. I agree that there needs to be a spoiler alert option, the ability to take a picture of a page and highlight a quote and also the ability to reply to individual messages on the club message wall. I read there will be a video conference option in the future super excited about that..Version: 2.1.0

Excited to Start My Book Club!I absolutely love this app. I was looking for a way to start and organize my very first book club and didn’t realize there platforms out there like this. It is a great way to keep your group aware of meetings as well as take polls. I also love that we have the opportunity to share other books we’ve read in the past as well as rate and leave comments about those books..Version: 2.3.8

So easy to use!Makes managing my book club so much easier, and includes everything I need..Version: 2.6.0

Nice way to organize bookclubNice app to keep bookclub members upto date and aware of any changes to time/location as well as future books. Only downsides are 1) not able to download meetings easily through the app to personal calendar’s, and 2) unable to adjust rating scale from 1-10 to 1-5..Version: 2.7.4

It’s everythingAll the communication is done through this. No need to communicate through texting or emailing. You can list books you want to read here as well. Polls, meeting dates, messages, etc. It’s GREAT. Highly recommended!.Version: 2.2.1

Really nice and streamlinedThis app really helped streamline our club. We have 13 members and are all able to communicate without having to be on other social media sites. It keeps the most current meeting info at the top, displays a picture of the book and all correspondence regarding meetings, falls under that meeting post. It really helps to keep it organized. We love the photo section too! This is a well thought out app..Version: 2.1.0

An invaluable appI’ve been the organiser of a bookgroup for a few years now and, without being too disrespectful, a lot of the time it’s like herding cats. Getting a simple decision made can take a lot of emails all sent as “Reply All” and then not having all members in the sending field. Finally along comes Bookclubz, and thank providence for that. Everything is in the app/website instead of filling everyone’s inbox. Bookclubz gives my members more involvement, more incentive, and makes life so much easier for me. That sounds selfish but in reality it frees me up and pulls my head out of the endless detail involved in running a good bookgroup. I finally have time to read a book!.Version: 2.2.0

Perfect App!!This has been an amazing tool for my book club! It seriously has every feature that you need and some awesome ones that I didn’t even think of. I love that each member can rate the book and the poll function is great! Love it!.Version: 3.0.0

Love this for managing my bookclubI’ve been using this website for managing my bookclub for over a year and now I’m so excited that there is an app! It is such a good alternative to fb or email-organized clubs. I even supported them in their fundraising because I was so pleased with the service. Would recommend!.Version: 1.0

A Must HaveI have been searching for an app to use with my book club girls for awhile now. The layout is aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate, it’s also functional and has every last detail covered from meeting rsvp’s to creating and sharing book lists..Version: 2.7.4

FantasticThis platform and app has proved so useful and convenient for our book club’s needs. It is user friendly and has several functions we use frequently from polls to message boards to the currently reading and books we’ve read lists. Notifications come in clutch when polls are posted or important messages. The site offers suggestions and a way to branch into other book clubs if you don’t have your own and the database of book discussion guides is ever growing. The creators are responsive to feedback or issues and treat you like a valued customer. They’re also always working to improve the entire platform. Our book club is coming up on our one year anniversary and we love this app!.Version: 2.4.0

Love this app!Great way to collaborate with fellow book worms! Our group has expanded to nearly 10 people and we all live in different states or time zones. This app allows us to set polls to choose the next book to read, set up meetings to discuss each book we read, and it keeps us all engaged and interested! Such a user friendly app, 10/10!.Version: 2.5.0

Best Bookclub App Out There!I have been using the app for a few months and it is super user-friendly! For being free and only donation based, I appreciate every thoughtful detail that went into building this. It is exactly the app and book community I was looking for! I have already joined two books clubs and I am looking forward to meeting with them virtually soon..Version: 2.5.2

Best Book Club app ever!!I had the pleasure of beta testing this app when it first started and am such a fan of its functionality. It’s incredibly easy to use, links you to purchase the books your club is reading, sends notifications and reminders. Easy to communicate with the whole group without having a mass text message. Plus aesthetically, in my personal opinion, it’s the nicest looking app out there. I’ve never had it crash on me or anything like that. If you’re in the market for a book club app this is definitely the one..Version: 2.2.2

Eazy to UzeLove this app! Easy very easy to set up clubs. Love the simple fresh look. Had been using a different app for almost 10 years that was free but it decided to start charging $30 a year. I appreciate that Bookclubz offer you to contribute through Patreon - which I definitely plan to do. Love love this well put together easy way to organize my 3 Bookclubz. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ One wish: an option for members to receive text message reminders. Many people just don’t check their emails these days. 🤷🏽‍♀️.Version: 1.0

Easy to use, but could be improvedI have been using this app for a couple of months now and I like it for the most part. I wish there was a comments or discussion section for members to post in the meeting invites. It would be helpful to have that for members to post what they are bringing or anything they wish to communicate to the group for that particular meeting. Also for some reason when I add an address to the meetings, it never posts it the first time around and I have to come back and edit the meeting to add it again. It’s a small thing and likely user error, but it has happened twice. If we could save addresses or if it populated the location I am typing in it would be nice. Lastly, I think it could be a little more intuitive. Perhaps opening to a Home/Welcome Screen? I am not sure how to articulate what I mean. Just a place for the user to start visually with like your next event and book recommendations based on previous meetings and ratings. It doesn’t feel intuitive to me that it opens up to meetings, which is in the middle of the options as opposed to the left. If it were a home button that stood out, maybe. I will continue to use the app. It seems like the makers are frequently putting out updates and read the reviews for constructive criticism. I hope this helps!.Version: 2.6.5

I’m new to readingI’m new to reading and me and my buddies started a book club. None of us were readers. This app is great but other book suggestions would be cool and being able to buy books and audio books from here would be nice but neither of these is a deal breaker. App is easy to run the book club from Adding members Meetings Notes Books we want to read Polls to see what everyone wants to read next It’s great One thing, and I may not have found it is moving books from want to read to reading to read... I’m doing it manually now Have fun.Version: 2.2.2

Game Changer! This app has absolutely changed our club for the better! I love having the meeting info all in on place. Seeing future info, books, etc. I can’t recommend this enough..Version: 2.6.1

Great features; can only get BetterThe app offers great tools but can benefit from some flexibility. Like allowing a meeting to be set and a title written for the meeting even if the Book is not searchable in the app database. Providing links or guides to running a book club, or guide questions to books in meeting / want to read queue, or a board where Bookclubz members can share practices or questions, would be an invauable resource. And a feature where members can share within the club or in their profile their favorite books per genre separate from the books they post in the club “want to read” list..Version: 2.2.2

Love the app, wish it had Barcode ScannerLoving the app so far, it’s amazing for making reading groups and keeping track of the books I have read. I just wish they would add a barcode scanner in the “Books I’ve Read” to make adding the books easier. And also have an add multiple option. We all know most of us read a lot of books to just add them individually..Version: 2.4.3

Made easyI love the simplicity of the app that makes it super user friendly. It has everything you would want in an app for book clubs. From discussion boards to video conferences it makes it easy and in the palm of your hand. However I wish I could add this in a widget on my Home Screen. It would be nice to glance at my club without needing to go into the app!.Version: 2.9.4

Essential for book clubsI don’t know how my book club ever functioned without Bookclubs and all the tools it provides. We are so organized, have minimized scheduling headaches, made book voting a breeze, and even discover so many more books through recommendations and what other clubs are reading thanks to this tool! Plus they have discussion guides that help spark and drive conversations in our meetings..Version: 2.5.3

Great app!Great app to help organize and keep track of book club meetings. Super easy to use and a wonderful tool to help support these meetups. Bonus would be if there was a way to actually see the other members’ profiles from your club page. I, as organizer, have no way to see what people list as they flesh out their profiles..Version: 1.0

Crime, Mystery and Thriller’sThis app has been very helpful to set up my new book club. It allows for individuals to sign up and communicate with their host. Create polls, ask questions to get a better idea of what the group would like to read..Version: 2.6.5

Would love book discussion questionsI like all of the features but one feature from another book club app that I miss is the book discussion questions. When you select a book that other groups have read, you can see how other folks using the app have rated that book and discussion questions they had for it. The other app didn't all the other features this one has though. I think adding the book discussion qs would make this the best book club app I have used..Version: 2.3.8

Makes my book club so easyI highly recommend this app for anyone in a book club. It keeps everything organized and accessible. I’ve used the poll option for selecting books. The reminder texts and emails are so easy to use. I like being able to record my personal reads along with the ones for our book club..Version: 2.4.6

Great!A really great way of connecting and communicating with friends and fellow readers. Much easier to have discussions and pick books and dates that work for everyone than using a standard social media platform or text accounts..Version: 2.5.2

Easy to Get this Setup and Ready to GoI just now finished setting up the BookClubs app for my book club group. I don’t see anyplace for members to comment though. Am I just overlooking that item? My club members love to comment to me and to one another and make suggestions. I personally think a comment section is almost a necessity. Thanks so much..Version: 2.7.6

Monthly book clubWith the pandemic still going on I wanted to start a book club with friends that was completely virtual. This app has been a wonderful tool in organizing the club and brining us together from all over the country. I have found it to be pretty easy to use and figure out from the start..Version: 2.2.3

BBRThis app is great! I wish it had a few more features like getting notifications when polls are submitted or anything is likes or posted. I wish you could remove member that is no longer participating. They have not active button but that’s not enough..Version: 2.4.3

Couple of things.Hello, It would be great if the conversations could have a spoiler alert option to hide the comment until you click on it. Also if we are able to add a quote from a photo of the book. The app needs to be updated. The online site works very well..Version: 2.1.0

CoolGreat idea, great interface. Also free w/ no in app purchases. 🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸.Version: 2.2.8

Incredible appI have found this app absolutely incredible. It not only helps me keep a bookclub organized, it also helps me organize and keep track of personal books I have read and want to read..Version: 2.4.4

Like the app but it needs so improvementsWhen I change a book from “want to read” to “currently reading” to “read,” the app should remove the previous status automatically. A book shouldn’t be two statuses at once. I have to manually remove the old status. Also, the button doesn’t look like something you would select to change the status. A combo box with a drop-down menu would work better..Version: 2.9.4
