✓ Quite goodIs very helpful for planning and making aesthetic posters. But it was very disappointing to see that barely any stickers or tapes were available without premium. One thing that bugged me soo bad was that you could only access two letters of the whole alphabet when looking at the letters in the packs. This makes no sense cause how are you meant to write anything? I would also like a few more pages in a journal(3 isn’t really sufficient enough). Pretty much everything else about this app was good. Like the wide range of fonts and page layouts. I keep having this write glitch; occasionally when I change fonts, the app crashes and closes down. It might be a problem with my device tho. Overall, I would defiantly recommend cause it is a very good app for organising and planning..Version: 1.5.3
✓ Still not 100%While the app is beautiful, easy to use and has so much included, I am just finding that I can’t use the journal the way I want to. I’d like to be able to select the orientation of the page to be portrait instead of landscape and I’d like to be able to use the dot grid page while doing that. I’d also love some customisable templates. I hate that all the calendar and weekly spreads start one one day. Would love to be able to change that to start on whatever day you wanted..Version: 1.7
✓ Used to be good until new updateI have used Zinnia for over a year now and really used to enjoy using this app. Now with the new update only certain content could be accessed which is really annoying but I understand that they need to make money. However almost everything is not free which is upsetting for me as I used to use this app always and there is no other application like it, it is very unique. Also on the new update for some reason it doesn’t even let me use free studio content on my journals and when I tap on a free content in studio it shows an ad for the paid version. This app used to be my favourite app ever, but if it continues to be how it is now I may have to stop using and find a replacement which would be very upsetting for me as I love this app. Pixite, please fix this..Version: 1.5.1
✓ A bit expensive for a journal appI do appreciate the work that must go in to creating an app like this. The app looks great, and I’m sure many will love it. After opening, I didn’t actually even do the free trial (I read you only get 3 pages) but when I saw the notification that it was $80 per year, I just couldn’t justify that on it. It wasn’t even an $80 one time purchase. It is a bit too much for a journaling app.Version: 1.1.2

✓ Room for improvementI’ve been using this app for a couple weeks now and I’m really enjoying it. I bit the bullet and bought the app for the year, to be honest the free version while cool is extremely limited in the number of pages you can have which I get but it was so limited that I initially uninstalled it. Now that I have the full version I’m keeping several journals for my mental health, my personal planner, my school planner, my student meetings and my parent meetings. Two pieces of advice I would give to the developers is to include coloring pages or stickers, a little bit of a mental break activity that I think would be easy to include, it would just be the line work so the person can color in the piece, I thought this would be really cool especially with the mandalas but it didn’t work. My second piece of advice would to allow for offline access to your journals. The person might not be able to use all the stickers, but adding pages and allowing for the person to write out their thoughts while offline I think would be really nice and doable. The person can also view and add to their planners without being online, I ran into this issue when I was away from the house and needed to check my schedule, but wasn’t able to, since I didn’t have access to WiFi. I think with these additions this app would be just about perfect for the needs it wants to fulfill..Version: 1.1.3

✓ AMAZING App But WAY Too Expensive!!This app is incredible, so much work has gone into it which is plain to see, but there is no way that I can justify spending NZD$80 every year just for this. Don’t get me wrong, I’d pay good money for it, I’d happily pay $80 as a one-time purchase, but as a subscription - no way!! ✓ Loved It Until My Journals Were Erased :(I am writing this nearly in tears. I started using this app a couple weeks ago as a place to keep record of my personal thoughts and art projects. I was absolutely in love with it. Sadly something terrible has happened. I recently transferred everything to a new iPad Pro and there was no issue, but I went a few days without opening the app and suddenly I did today and EVERYTHING is gone. All of it. I keep getting a pop-up saying to make sure iCloud sync is turned on for the app, which IT IS, and tried reinstalling the app to restore my journals but to no avail. I don’t know what to do. I’m hoping I can restore them from a backup otherwise I am just heartbroken over this. This app was so wonderful and I cannot believe everything I made with it has just disappeared like this :( perhaps this is a recent bug that should be looked into. I don’t really expect a response or anything, but I want to warn others to be careful with iCloud settings or risk losing it all like I did. ✓ New update 🤨I absolutely love Zinnea and using it is simple, easy and looks so nice! But I loaded the app yesterday to find most of the stickers are locked, and you have to pay for them! Before, they were all free and I think you should fix the update. It is quite expensive to have premium anyway, but adding the price on most stickers is too extra. It’s really sad and you can’t really do much now. Please fix it! Add on, I think you really need to fix this is so bad now, you have to pay for basically all of the stickers, and I keep it in hope that you will change it back, but don’t use it as there’s no point. ✓ Looks great - but paying for looksI tried this app and was tempted to subscribe, but felt it didn’t justify such a high price. The limits on the free version make it very limiting making it difficult to figure out if I would get enough use to justify such a high subscription. It feels very pressuring. The selling points to subscribe seem very superficial too (I don’t need stickers...) would prefer to see things such as enhanced security features (e.g. password protection) or bookmarks. I’ve been using a note-taking app but was looking for a separate app for personal use, this one has done a lot to promote it’s instagrammable looks, but in terms of substance, feels lacking..Version: 1.2

✓ It’s a good app but….I joined in the morning to test it and it worked fine, but then I left for a while and when I came back I decided to try it out again, and it didn’t work I thought it was just a glitch, and then I refreshed it and joined again it didn’t load, I decided to turn my device off and go back on and tried it, it didn’t work. I got a little bit frustrated and decided to try again, and again, and again.. for a long time, I came to the fact I literally wanted to delete the game, then I thought of making a review to see if anyone has experienced this, I think this is a glitch and if u can, try fix this. ✓ I used to really love this app until, the new update.I used to love using all the stickers and different text boxes to create amazing notebooks for school, until the new update came. Before it allowed you to use all the stickers available to make your note books more personal, but now you may only use a small section of the stickers provided. This made it very hard to make aesthetic and detailed pages. It was very disappointing. If the monthly/yearly subscription wasn’t so high I would highly consider purchasing it. But as it amounts to a large almost £100 a year, that is way to much to spend one one app alone. ✓ $40 a Year?I have been saying there needs to be a bullet journal app for some time now and was so excited to learn about Zinnia. However, with how many glitches there are and after reading other reviews, I cannot justify paying $40 a year. I got a glitch not even 1 minute into the app (the app froze after trying to place a single sticker on a new journal) After reading through other reviews, it sounds like the cost of the app is a common complaint that the developers have yet to listen to. In one of their responses, they said that the app is free and the subscription is in no way necessary to enjoy the app, but I disagree. You can sample the features of the app for free, but the free version is limited to 3 notebooks with 3 pages each. A bullet journal with 9 pages has nowhere near enough room for adding habit trackers, to do lists, journals, weekly logs, etc. I would be willing to pay a subscription for this app if it were reasonable. But for $40 a year, I can easily make several notebooks on my own. If the price were to come down or more features were added, I would love to support an app like this. At this point, the price tag is preventing many potential users from keeping the app as many cannot afford that, especially when college students make up a majority of BuJo users. ✓ It good, butI absolutely love love love this app so much... the fact that you can customize it, add cute designs, use pre-designed templates, and that it's so much like a real journal are so amazing!! The reason I'm giving three stars is because unless you pay you only get 3 pages to write on which highly impacts its functionality. I understand developers do need to make money somehow but when it's affecting the functionality and destroying the purpose, there's really no point in having the app. Of course I'm just one customer and not a professional in any way but what I would recommend is keep the basics free (unlimited pages, page color, font size and several basic fonts) but add in extras like cute covers, cute fonts, more stickers, etc. that people can buy if they wish to do so. This way it's still usable for those who just want to use the journal but can be made into something far more complex and cute for those willing to pay a bit of money. ✓ Great concept- needs workLovely idea and some really neat stuff in there so far, but still needs more work for a yearly sub of £40! Graphics on the templates aren’t polished enough- they combine bland fonts for numbers with doodle styles. they need better full journals with accompanying colour palates and there are still some bugs, like a really annoying issue with the undo not working properly on some of the pens. ✓ Awesome idea, needs a lot of improvementsIt’s a great idea and there is a lot of awesome content! There are definitely some major improvements that are needed for it to create a truly customizable bujo, though! There is no option to build your own layouts, and not even an option to draw a straight black line. I had to make a work-around of using some washi tape because it’s the only straight line option that you can change the length AND width of. I wanted six black boxes on one page, but making these boxes with the washi tape work-around creates a huge lag on the page. The washi tape does not even come in black. The app does have plain black box and rectangle stickers, but you cannot manipulate the shape of a sticker or the width of the lines. There are a lot of good layouts and templates in the app, but it is extremely limited and would be so improved if you could personalize your own layouts easily! And also if there wasn’t a huge lag when you fill a page with a lot of hand drawn content!.Version: 1.1.5

✓ Worst app I’ve downloadedLooks cute, though I didn’t realise at first this was a subscription app. I tried to back out at the three subscription options boxes, but it’s signed me up anyway to an amount I can’t even go back and check. I’ve tried to email them, but it doesn’t work. I’ve tried four times to unsubscribe with the email they’ve sent me upon signing up, but the link to unsubscribe is broken and doesn’t work with safari or chrome. I’ve also tried to go to my iTunes subscription section to see if I can delete it from there and it won’t let me it’s like it doesn’t exist apparently. Also tried the link on zinnia to edit/check my subscription and it sends me to a different app within my iTunes i just don’t understand why or how that’s even possible. ✓ Great app just not for meThis app is awesome through all its stickers, beautiful decoration and ratings notes and beautiful patterns, but there was one flaw for me. It was that you had to pay obviously apps have to ask for payment, but for example, regular notes on phones and iPads and tablets all have free notes they don’t have much decorative things by it’s for free because kids need journals. They need planners and diaries but they can’t pay and even if their parents can they think it’s a waste of money just for an app even though it was pretty cheap still I wish it was free like notes and this is an amazing app so don’t get me wrong. It just has that little flaw overall, if there were no money required or no payments I would’ve really been happier so I recommend this app for people that can pay easily or think that that payment is nothing but to me I can’t pay really because I don’t want to waste money on something like that but I like how they give you different patterns and designs and lots of options but I only wish that the bits that are saying monthly yearly weekly daily were not for me payments thank you ..Version: 1.24
✓ Charge different prices to different peopleLooks like a beautiful app with so much customisation, however I have one big gripe. My partner and I downloaded this while sitting next to each other and she was offer 67% discount on an annual plan where i was offer 50%. The only reason I can see is I’m on an iPad Pro and she’s on an iPad mini. So guessing they are giving different discounts for different (or more expensive) devices. I think this is a little underhanded and disappointing. Also, while it’s a great looking app. £10 or £60 a year seems excessive. ✓ Needs improvementSo far it’s been just ok. I paid for a year and am not seeing the value yet. The text boxes each have to be edited individually though the app will remember your font choice, size and color be damned. Selecting elements is frustrating to the point I tossed my iPad across the bed today. This is normal for this app. I don’t see the reason for layers to be so badly managed in an app that encourages layering and being creative with elements. Not well thought out. Resizing and adjusting components don’t always snap to pixel. Meaning tapping inches away can have a varied effect on the element. Sometimes it will resize it, sometimes it’ll rotate it, sometimes it will move it. Moving it is what that’s supposed to do. The styles need to be expanded. The library seems extensive until you realize you don’t like any of the elements. Needs more basic elements. Had to use washi tape to turn down the contrast on a background. Workarounds aside, the app could use some improvements to be worth the yearly price..Version: 1.2.1
✓ Don’t waste your timeThis app use to be so good. Ever since you have updated it , you have to subscribe to have most of the content. Only a small selection of the stickers are free and you only get three pages. It is a bit off a rip off. The old update was really good, there was a subscription but you could at least use most of the stickers. The subscription is way too expensive and for it to be a yearly subscription is ridiculous. The app is quite limiting, with it hard to do your own layouts. The graphics and stickers can’t be shaped to fit your pages and are aspect ratio locked. ✓ Deal breakerI like the app in general but the things that where a deal breaker for me go as followed . Okay I know this app is trying to make money but locking some of the stickers wasn’t really fair because I don’t feel like it’s fair to pay a silly amount for a premium version and still have to pay that silly amount every month. The journals if you don’t buy the premium only allow you to have three pages per journal and there are only allowed five journals without a premium which I think was kind of unfair as again I don’t want to pay a ridiculous amount just to get more pages and journals when I can clearly just use some of the apps that the iPad comes with , like notes or pages. ✓ No ScubriptionFANTASTIC APP. Zinnia is unique in templates and stickers themes. They seem to gel with my personal aesthetic. There is 4+ varietys to choose from. I like the idea of different journals and pages within those journals. The different page background e.g. Grid vs lines and this can be changed. I generally have grid note books and line notebooks in physical format so it’s nice to have these all in one note book should one choose. I find that I can spend little to a lot of Zinnia and still be happy with what I have created for the day. DOWNSIDE: the subscription is 19 NZD a month (228.00 NZD a year), I don’t earn minimum wage but I still find this steep. I don’t like subscriptions for the mere fact I want to be debt free and subscripions make me feel like I always OWE. I worry about - what happens if I stop the subscriptions the work I put into the journals I no longer have access too? With the recent COVID-19 and people losing their jobs it made me realise that I have to invest in the essentials the (food, housing, transport and utilities) and Zinnia doesn’t fit that. So if you have money to burn I would highly recommend this app. But for those who need a creative outlet please don’t use your ‘lack of an app’ be your barrier especially in these unprecedented times. What would I pay for Zinnia 20 - 30 bucks. My favourite app Procreate was less than that and it is my main reason for purchasing an iPad - I wanted the app and I don’t regret it and even have others convinced (4 people so far) to move to iPad because of the app. Zinnia for me doesn’t have that same power but boy is it close. If Zinnia was a one off - I would highly recommend it to the journal community or project lifers or digital journally. Zinnia has so much to offer in term of creativity, accessibility and longetivity but I can’t bare the price..Version: 1.0.8

✓ Way to expensiveI have loved this app for so long and one of the things I loved about it was even though you had to pay for more pages and journals everything else was free, all the stickers, templates and Washie Tapes, I had made about two full journels. BUT when I updated the app not only were one of my journels gone, some spreads and elements in my other pages were also gone ALL the hard work I put in to those spreads just gone! 😡 And to make it WORSE when I went to re-do my missing pages I saw this symbol with ‘free’ on some of the stickers, I was confused because wasn’t everything free? NO after this update u have to pay for basically everything, I didn’t mind the pages limit but this is TOO MUCH. ✓ Too priceyThis is too pricey to pay as an ongoing expense, trial is too short. I hope the developers see this because it’s a good idea- except our devices come with the capability of this for free so why would we pay $80 a year. Make the trial period a month so we can determine if it’s truely right for us, a week is too short seeing as life gets in the way people get sick and then won’t use it for the week and wasted. One off purchase maybe $50 max! ✓ Bad updateWhen the app updated so that some stickers were free for people to use I didn’t really want to use zinnia anymore because the stickers that I wanted to use weren’t free and I always a used to use zinnia because it has the best FREE stickers that I could use and when I found out I couldn’t use them I was devastated. Zinnia made a bad update choice as they made it hard for the people who can’t pay for the stickers (my whole family)..Version: 1.4
✓ Potential, but not there yetWhen I saw this app off an Instagram ad, I was so excited to try it out, as I’ve bullet-journaled for years and have been hoping to find a paperless option that would give me the same capabilities as my paperless journal. I wanted to love this app and I love the idea of having online stickers and washi tape, but within five minutes of using the app I could tell how glitchy it was (using the drawing tool, my lines would shift around after setting down the pencil) and immediately deleted it. I have a couple suggestions for this app that would make it more similar to a physical planner: offer an option to disable the text feature of templates (really frustrating trying to handwrite on it), offer a tool for drawing straight lines as opposed to using one of the planner templates, offer a tool to allow people to draw an area of the paper sticker they want to use (rather than just putting a rectangle on the page), maybe portrait mode can be one half of a two-page spread and landscape would allow the user to see both pages? Yes, $40 may be cheaper than the amount someone spends on a paper journal and tools, but there’s also an opportunity cost of this app, which is the frustration and time spent trying to deal with the glitches. I would love to try this app again if the bugs are worked out, and I really hope they are, because this app is a wonderful idea..Version: 1.0.6
✓ It’s pretty good…I guessI have been using this app for a total off about one hour, so I really don’t know it that well. This so just an overall rating. Pros: I doesn’t have adds, it’s free to download, easy enough use, easy to understand how to use, super cute and aesthetic, you don’t have to pay for much stuff. I listed the pros quickly but I really want to get into the cons. What really really really annoyed me is that if you don’t want to pay you can only do 3 pages per journal. I mean I get you have to get money and stuff like that but it’s kind of outrageous, there’s so many things I want to put in my journal but I can’t because I only have 3 PAGES. Also they don’t put a little sign for when a pre made journal cost money to use so you'll click on one of the journals and imagine it in your head, oh but no, you have to pay. Also it’s draw stuff without an apple pen, it’s kind of annoying because I’ll be coloring something and it won’t fill it in all the way. Also the cost of premium or whatever is really expensive. ✓ Very buggy recentlyI love this app and I've been using it since 2020. It's been my daily journal and I have thousands of pages written. Unfortunately now I have to stop using it, because recently it has become very buggy: it's not syncing pages properly and it's losing content. Besides other UI issues that have been outstanding for weeks. So now I am no longer a subscriber while I hope these issues will be resolved. If at least their support team would have an FAQ or send updates about the status of the issue, it would be great. ✓ Love it!! Just a couple things…This is a perfect option for on-the-go type A yet somewhat lazy perfectionists like myself. I love journaling but I often don’t have my journal with me when I feel inspired, and I definitely don’t have fun stickers and tapes (or the patience to deal with that…) This app has a good amount of options for fonts, and although you have to pay for all the non-basic extra stuff, I really didn’t mind since I’m using this frequently… overall very happy with it!! I love having this creative outlet. My only complaints are I really wish there was a ‘view only’ option, as I get frustrated when I try to look back at old entries and I’m constantly clicking and moving things around by accident. I also think it would be really helpful to have some basic photo editing abilities on the app besides just cropping. I usually have to upload pictures to a different app if I was to adjust the blending or contrast, etc etc… I look forward to any app updates you guys put out and hopefully updating my review also!! ✓ Scam, don’t download if you don’t wanna pay Netflix prices to journalTruthfully, even just using the free version of the app is fine but not my preference. So you as a consumer may find it worth the price, but personally I just feel like it’s not good for the common man, especially the poor student. Maybe this app would be good for Kylie Jenner or other people that drop $10,000 on water bottles and cakes. To be fair, I’m cheaper than Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob, but let’s be honest 3 journals with 3 pages is ridiculous even for people that use their money for weird things. My advice is to download GoodNotes if you don’t want to pay luxury prices for a regular journal app, at the very least they allow you to do more than 3 godforsaken pages for free. ✓ Reading JournalI use this app for my reading journal, to log books I’ve read or own/want to own. It’s great to catalog everything. I’m also fine with paying the fee each year, though I do wish it was a one time payment but I understand the need for profit to further expand the app or other. The reason I didn’t give it a five star is because I’m having trouble opening the app. It will stay on the opening loading screen for sometimes 20-30mins. I don’t always have the time to wait for it to load. If the app could somehow be fixed where this issue wouldn’t occur I would give it a higher rating. If this issue continues I might also find another app, why am I paying for something when the majority of the time I have trouble opening it. I have tried turning off and on my device, I'm concerned of deleting and reinstalling the app…in case it makes me repay. Besides this issue though, I throughly enjoy using this app and how it works well with what I use it for. ✓ Beautiful app, with a few flawsThis app is brilliant! The templates are beautiful, the stickers are wonderful, and I love the way you can adjust the washi tape. My only gripes with this app are: 1. It crashes a LOT while using it - I have to close and relaunch the app at least once per session, and 2. The price is excessive! I’m more than happy to pay a larger one-time fee as I hate subscriptions, but £60 a year IS a subscription, and an expensive one at that. The free version is extremely limiting (3 books at 3 pages per book), especially when you consider that you can pick up something like GoodNotes for half the price of a monthly sub and have none of those restrictions. I’d be happy to pay a one-off fee for the app, and then purchase additional template/sticker packs within the app when they are released. I really do want to support this app as I think it’s brilliant and has so much potential, but the price point and crashing issue put me off committing..Version: 1.1.3
✓ Mixed ThoughtsOverall, I have liked the ability to use their premade text boxes, templates, and images. I am not someone who likes to sit and draw all of their own boxes, add text, etc. It has been great to have multiple journals to make worksheets for my clients and be able to have private areas too. One thing that I really don’t like and will probably make me not renew my subscription is that you can’t adjust the width or height of their items. Ex. There is a rectangle that I want to make longer but keep the height, not an option. It will increase both measurements. You also can’t change the color of even their simple images/text boxes/etc. There is also no option to make a chart/table which I feel is a very basic function many would like. I feel stuck in using their esthetic choices and find that I have creativity taken away and I can’t achieve the result that I want. If you are someone who can and will draw their own templates, this will be a great app. If you are using this as a journal or planner, they will likely have good templates for you. If you are someone who wants editable images/templates/textboxes, I wouldn’t suggest this app..Version: 1.21

✓ DissappointedI’m very new to all of this, and while the tutorial was very simple and understandable, and it took you through and had you interact. It’s a little more difficult to navigate that it lets on… again that’s probably because I’m new to all of this. I really love the templates. I love the amount of stickers. The variety over the other app that I’m trying. My biggest frustration is actually with the pricing. I’m one of those people that if I like it, I just want to buy it and be done with it. I get it things will change & prices will increase but typically an option for a lifetime purchase is available, which is what I did with the other app that I don’t like near as much: I could purchase it for my lifetime for a set amount I don’t have to worry about being renewed or me losing my data. ✓ This App Harasses It’s Users!!I have never wrote a review for an app before even if the app is absolutely terrible but I am going to take time out of my day to actually warn people not to download this app unless you want to be spammed 20 times a day from ridiculous notifications. Of course, you can opt to not receive notifications but I mistakenly hit “yes” to receiving notifications and that was my first mistake. Usually when I opt to receive notifications from an app, I may get 2-5 notifications a day. A slight annoyance, but nothing too terrible. I think the creators of this app have a personal goal they want to reach or a world record they want to achieve of how many notifications can I send out in one day. They send them overnight, early in the morning, and multiple times throughout the day. ✓ Potential, but not making the most of it’s digital platform.This is a great app in many ways, though it’s not making the most of being on a digital platform and is quite expensive considering this. 1. You can’t batch upload images 2. You can’t upload images from an external source such as a NAS Drive. 3. You can’t make minor edits or and frames to images in app. 4. No functionality for adding audio, video or slide shows. 5. Not able to make and add your own template. 6. Can’t upload gif’s so cant make your own images with a clear background. 7. In built templates can only be resized at their fixed ratio. As a photographer and home educator I was really excited when I first saw this app as a way to journal our educational journey. ✓ TERRIBLEI saw this on an ad and i thought "why not?" then i got it and was so excited about all the free things you can get. I started using it but after a few days I started to get really irritated. It is so infuriating because when you go to use a text box it doesn't even work. It creates a new one and starts typing somewhere completely different? Don't even get me started on the fact you can't even zoom in all the way. If you love colouring boxes and setting things out neat i hate to tell you that this app is pure rubbish because it doesn't even let you zoom in all the way and it goes way out of the lines.
