Flip Sampler for Positive User Reviews

Thank YouThis is an unbelievably simple and full featured music making app. It is the most intuitive workflow I have come across in 10+ years of recording (I've used Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, Reason, Reaper and Bitwig). I wish they would do a Mac/PC port in the future but I know there are other things that need to be developed first. Keep it up Dev team!!.Version: 1.0.6

USB Controller Integration?I absolutely adore the creativity and speed of this app. Making good sounding samples from anything around me is absolutely incredible, and I love using this app for quick ideas. However, I think the biggest drawback for me is not being able to connect a USB controller, keyboard, or audio interace. If I can, pleeease let me know. It’s a little too slow for me to make music in the edit window vs playing everything in with a portable controller or my digital piano. I’d also love the freedom of recording samples in real time from instruments through my 2i2..Version: 1.0.5

Love it!!Use this app whenever I’m bored. It’s very very fun and just spurs creativity. Super intuitive. Easy to use, easy to understand. No real learning curve. Absolutely worth the purchase. Although it’s got it’s own built in looper, I use it through audiobus and quantaloop pro because I can run my other gear through that too. It’s so much fun for live looping. Whenever I’m out and about, and hear a cool sound, I sample it in flip and have a play. Who knew a vacuum cleaner could sound like such a great wind instrument? Turns out it’s a favourite of mine. A couple of requests to the developers. I wish it had midi support. Like if the pads were automatically assigned to midi in the drum range, this app would be so much fun plugged into an electronic drumkit. With midi learn as well, this app would absolutely kick ass. All the pitchbend stuff and velocity is already under the hood! If when you went into the sequencer, it automatically switched to sending midi notes to the sequencer, that would friggen rule! Might as well have midi learn options for the mixer too, why not. The other thing would be the ability to select audio input. Interapp audio and input and output channels would be awesome. It can’t record when audiobus is running. If it could connect to audiobus and interapp audio for recording inputs, and had midi support, this app would absolutely be the new way people make music. Anyways, chuck those additional features in there as an in app purchase and I’ll be so keen..Version: 1.1.3

Just the essentialsHandy, (get it) having all the workflow UI along the edges. There are all the essentials for composing tracks and formulating ideas before taking them to the next level. My only feedback is that the keyboard and piano roll could use a fat thumb option. My big fingers are having trouble landing the targeted notes. I end up stacking a bunch of notes next to each other. Then as I try to toggle them, I’d end up adding more. And you can forget about playing Chopsticks with anything other than chopsticks..Version: 1.0.6

Proper mpc beat maker for the ipad/phoneIve only had this a night and already the beats are flowing. Really intuitive and fun. Its exciting to be getting on this early..Version: 1.0.2

Super great already! This is a great workstation app. The only thing I would like messed with is splice integration. It is possible to download samples from splice to device, and load them currently, but it is one file at a time, and I would like to have more of my splice library loaded for randoming through. Also a slice to pads feature would be crazy for longer drum loops, but that is asking a lot. I love it! 5 stars..Version: 1.0.6

Dawesome!Love how intuitive this is, by far the best music production app for getting an idea sketched out on the fly. 🌈Thanks Andrew🦄.Version: 1.0.2

A brilliant app with 1 suggestionThe only suggestion I would have for this app would be either the ability to host a form of plugin such as is possible in GarageBand, or some more channel Specific FX.Version: 1.0.7

Easy to useThere has never been an app so accessible to just jump in and mess around. The best part about the app is that it doesn’t have too many features. The essentials without looking too cluttered. Top notch work on this one. Looking forward to the updates..Version: 1.0.2

BEST APP EVER HANDS DOWNIf you’re a musician, and you don’t get this app, you’re missing out in one of the most brilliant new tools on the market. You won’t regret the money you spend. I can sit and spend hours at a time on this thing. Every time I open a new project I have a great time with it. %100 will release an album of stuff made mostly with this tool..Version: 1.2.6

No way to export as wav?Great sampler. Only thing that would make it better is if you could export your work as a wav file rather than just a zip. But since they fixed the issue with InterApp Audio, I can use it with GarageBand again, so I can go back to saying it’s my favorite sampler even without an export to wav feature..Version: 1.2.2

Super great.Really great features. Takes a little getting used to how everything works. Only issue found is that the microphone stays active after moving on to other apps..Version: 1.0.7

Love it, but…I really like the work flow and sounds that can come out of this tiny little app, but I’ve run into a couple of frustrating glitches and crashes. On my iPhone 8, I haven’t come across many problems, but on my brand new iPad, the metronome glitches when you’re recording, and sometimes the loops will go out of sync. Weird distortion occasionally. Will crash if a couple apps are open and you’re overloading the app. Overall super fun and works great with splice and exporting stems/files to GarageBand for further arrangement. Would love some different effects for the sounds..Version: 1.1.3

So fun** there seems to be a bug with dragging clips to the trash icon on bottom right** This is the gateway drug for apple products. this app along made me decide to borrow a friend’s old ipad sitting in the dust and now look at me I bought myself an ipad pro. Anyway jokes aside, right now it crashes when I use magic keyboard accidentally (not supported) during renaming a project..Version: 1.2.5

Incredible, but a little unstableOverall, Flip is quite a robust mobile DAW. it lends very well to my sample based music production style, and the workflow gets my ideas flowing and developed quickly. As of right now, however, there is a bug on iPhone 13 that doesn’t save each project’s BPM like before..Version: 1.2.7

So impressed. Simple and effective and funThis really is an almost complete workstation to build ideas. Also ideal for a novice to learn the elements of songwriting, production, drum programming, basic mixing and arrangement. The exporting function is super and the Sounds that come out are very decent and even useable in pro setup. It’s basically a stripped back version of Maschine, but with no options for any real synthesis which you’d probably rather do on a bigger computer anyway. I love this app. Thank Andrew and the team!.Version: 1.0.4

Get this!Get it get it get it get it !!!!! GEETT ITTT !!!!!.Version: 1.2.5

Longtime electronic producer enjoying iOSThis 9 track sampler is actually a brilliant and exceedingly high functioning complete groove workstation. The layout was intuitive I managed to find all features without using it’s also brilliantly convenient help button that’s always there to explain any feature by tapping it then the button or knob in question. The internal sample store also looks like it’s going to be very hip and vibey someday, as if this review it seamed like it had about 5 interesting looking packs for sale, I did not try any out though my phone is clogged with samples by now so I imported my own into the app smoothly without incident. As far as there being a way to bulk import I’m not sure as I’m to lazy to have read anything the developers written yet, including this AppStore page, but I had to leave a review because to me this marks the moment good design and music production really start to get along with each other on iOS. Wishlist _ 1. Just one synthesizer would be super Fire! 2. Saturator effect, thigh I do love the decimation that allready present 3. I really dig the user interface and think it’s brilliant but for my taste despite how clean, right and tight it is it still has a little bit of a childish vibe and would love to see a more stark yet colorful approach maybe similar to auxey pro or something. Thanks to developer, super great work here, I’m stoked.Version: 1.0.1

Mind blowing!Absolutely love this app/DAW! It’s been so well thought out and designed, really sturdy and surprisingly powerful! It’s lightning quick in all areas from recording samples to effects, and such a great price for what it can do. A must have for music makers!.Version: 1.0.3

So much fun!I came to this app having only used fruity loops mobile before. Whilst that app was powerful, I’ve ultimately found this app so much more enjoyable to use, which is the whole reason I make music. The user interface is simple and a joy to use, and the sampling functionality is fantastic. My only requests are that a few more effect sliders are added, and the option to extend note inputs beyond 4 bars. Highly recommend for anyone getting into music making!.Version: 1.1.1

What I was looking forWhen I first got an iPad I was disappointed in the lack of decent music making apps for it. I’m by no means a music producer but this is so far the most intuitive experience i and I think it’s worth the money.Version: 1.0.2

Great App but iPhone 14 Pro, dynamic island covers the side menuThink this is a great app, had hours of fun, I had upgraded to my iPhone 14 pro, seems this has not been optimised for that, as the dynamic island area covers some of the side menu navigation , making them unusable, if a change the orientation of the phone this then become available on the other side which is a real pain, could the dev team please confirm if this is not compatible with iPhone 14 pro, due to this, cheers.Version: 1.2.7

Great fun app aaaaaaaLove it and love Andrew huang.Version: 1.0.2

Far more than a samplerI am pretty impressed with this app so far. The ability to effect each sample runs deep. I hate to even call it a sampler because it is so much more. The UI is good on a phone (have not thrown it on my iPads yet). It is easy to use as it has a pretty standard setup but still has its own identity. I have only used it for about ten minutes to give it a quick go round and so far I am pretty impressed with the depth. I have an insane amount of audio apps and have been beta testing apps for about ten years now- this one is a total keeper and worth the price. Take my word for it. If you have any issues the developer is very responsive. I am wondering why in the newest update the ‘sample store’ is being phased out. I don’t mind as I like to use my own but it scares me that this app might be abandoned or go to a subscription model. I DON’T know this-I am speculating. I just hope this this app stays around for awhile because it has some great features and I am glad it is in the top of the audio apps chart because it deserves it. Great price point too..Version: 1.2.7

Absolutely awesomeThis sampler is fantastic. I really dig the easy parameter automation at different repeat lengths; it makes it very quick and easy to create interesting variations on ideas. I’d !!!LOVE!!! to see midi export in an update at some point. But honestly, asking for more than what this app already is feels like I’m being greedy. It’s so good!.Version: 1.0.2

Wholly crapSeriously though, this app does everything or plans to do everything. I can imagine it as a onstage tool for performance as much as a tool for woodshedding ideas. Thank you!.Version: 1.0.2

Great! The interface for this app is one of the best I’ve seen, and it makes sample chopping and editing super intuitive and fun. All in all this is a great app. I’m certain that IAA will be on its way, and that will be enough to integrate this with the rest of my workflows, particularly if I can live sample from other apps. Once we’re there this will be a 5 star app. I’m certainly glad to be able to import from the files app right now. I would love to have the option to label my faders on the mixer, or have the sample names appear somewhere on the faders. This app can really be played like an instrument and that feature would really round that out. This could almost be its own synth if you could do things like apply envelopes to the filters, or even apply just the amp envelope to the filter. You can kind of get there with automation but it didn’t feel quite the same for me. Of course if I can sample from my other apps I can get that functionality with other synths and just sample it here. I’m very happy with the focus this app provides- really excellent work. I look forward to seeing more..Version: 1.0.2

Fast, fun, easy to learn but lacks IAA integrationReally fun app, easy to use, and really appreciate the how-to videos from Andrew and the help overlay - other devs should take notes! Was glad to find an easy way to import my self-recorded samples out of the box. The one major drawback is that it doesn't work as InterApp Audio (or AUV3). Ableton Link is great for BPM, but that's about it - start stop was fidgity for me, and Volume on disconnected apps is tedious. With InterApp Audio it would integrate into my established workflow, easier levels management, post FX could be applied, even per-track FX if the tracks were blown out like in Pttrning2. If this can happen, it's a 5 star app for me. Without it, I fear it's going to sit idle in the dusty folder of standalone music apps..Version: 1.0.7

Tanks..The sound is incredeble but Application crashes.Version: 1.4

Needs some work but I’m willing to stick aroundCool app but I found a bug in the first five seconds. When you click randomize and play a sound to hear it too many times the app crashes. Not sure if it’s a certain sound sample that has the problem or pressing the randomize button too many times. I tested and it’s only on pad 6 that it happens. Edit: oops now I can’t hear anything had to turn off my device, I’m on an iPad Pro Edit again: now I can hear again but half the sounds on pad 6 are inaudible. Plz fix :) Final edit: I can’t repeat the randomizer bug anymore but some of the sounds are still named with random numbered filenames and they don’t make sounds..Version: 1.1.4

Great app, some problems thoughI dons usually write reviews but. This is a great music sampler and i always use it when i’m bored or feel like making some music. It is fun and kills a lot of time! The fact i can do all of this on my phone so easily is mind blowing to me! There are a few problems and annoyances though. *Sometimes if i change one thing i can’t revert back, like the pitch. *When i go on another project and undo, it undo’s the last project i was on??? *When i try export the recordings onto bolt, it sometimes cuts out a chunk of the song at the end. *The app crashes a lot whenever i start recording or export. (Using iPhone 11) That’s all my problems really, but overall great app! recommended highly 👍.Version: 1.0.5

Crash’sSuper duper fun. I love the user interface everything is fairly straight forward with a lot of capabilities. But it crashes a lot for me..Version: 1.0.2

Great but Bluetooth headphone delayI love the app but my main problem is that whenever I connect my Bluetooth headphones (audio-technica) there is like a 0.5 second delay from when I press a pad to when I actually hear the sound. This makes it difficult to record things on beat. This is the only app on my iPad Pro (2020) that does this and I’ve had this app since it was released. I hope a new update will fix this soon! Besides that, I love it!.Version: 1.1.4

Pretty great but needs some tweaks. This app is a very capable portable DAW. It’s much more usable on an iPad primarily because of one killer flaw in the UI; the Sequencer screen is pretty much unusable on an iPhone. It’s doable but so frustrating that I tend to just give up. That whole screen needs a complete re-work to function acceptably on a small touch screen. On the iPad I’ve enjoyed it much more but on both devices I do continue to run into crashing issues when attempting to manipulate tracks on the Performance screen. With a little more work this could be 5 stars all day..Version: 1.1.4

Game changer (srsly)I wanted to wait until I had a chance to really play with all the features, directly compare it to other apps, and really put it through the ringer. And it’s impressive! It is exactly the bridge between working with loops and really opening up technical music making possibilities. The pads are super responsive. The quantize is perfect. The sampling capabilities are seemingly endless. I’ve already made some really fun beats with just my breath and some whistling. Pros: -sampling is so robust you can make almost any sound from the right input sound -exporting to the stems is a leap above what anyone else is offering -one time purchase! Apps that are way less comprehensive require monthly (sometimes weekly) subscription fees Cons: -I personally haven’t figured out how to simultaneously export the whole song and the stems at the same time. Small thing that’s mostly preferential. -Sometime when I’m editing midi, it crashes. But that could honestly be my phone. Who knows? Overall, this is a huge win. Even with the smallest of flaws I give this five stars. Do not hesitate to buy this. Update: Didn’t check all the files after export. Master was totally there. Flawless app..Version: 1.0.3

Best Mobile Music Making AppYou can make music anywhere with this. Super cheap and definitely worth the money.Version: 1.0.2

Thanks AndrewThis is the app I have been looking for. I have no complaints except for the occasional bug or glitch. One thing I would like to see added is a sample looper feature like in garage band for iOS. I also think that the velocity/midi editor could be slightly reorganized. I don’t really edit velocity much and it takes up a big portion of the screen, maybe a tab to hide it🤷🏻‍♂️. Great app though, pretty much everything works exactly how I want it. I haven’t really gotten into the automation page much yet but it is brilliantly designed. Great job! 👏🏻.Version: 1.0.4

The real pocket operatorSuch a powerful and handy tool. I’m quite inexperienced with producing, so the fact that I can make a song I like so quickly was a awesome! I do wish there was a step sequencer for quicker sketching of ideas. And many of the more advanced sound design tools took a while for me to get my head around..Version: 1.2.2

Great sampler, limited thoughI love using this app, helps me effortlessly get the classic sampling goodness anytime anywhere. It would benefit from a couple more effects, maybe a distortion or flanger/phaser. Also, this sampler NEEDS a loop function. More often than not, my samples are cut short when I try to do chords or melodies with lots of pitch shifting..Version: 1.2.5

A review: This is great!Very enjoyable to use, it is fun and immediate. Capable of being a lot more experimental than I initially thought. I have one ask, but it could be me? The sequencer is limited to 4 bars, I was thinking an option to up that would be of significance. I get what it is, and I get what it perhaps doesn’t want to be, but just a little more space in the sequencer surely makes sense? Moaning aside, it’s surprisingly good. Ps Can you see that my review is not deleted please Apple?.Version: 1.0.2

Missing one thingLove the interface and freedom you get here. It just needs integration with apps like GarageBand so I can play with samples from other apps or import samples from Flip into other tools.Version: 1.0.2

This is everything I wanted since I was a child and first got into musicI know some people have had some issues but I’m sure those will be ironed out over time. The ui and experience are great so far. The help button design is really useful (tapping on what you want to know about is really intuitive). I was able to start making stuff within minutes. Im so excited to have something that allows me to do what I’ve always wanted to since I got my first audio recorder as a kid..Version: 1.0.2

Stops working after 5 mins. Shame as looked GoodFound this through creators YouTube clips. Looked great and was until it stopped working. Initially I thought It a was the software but make sure you have sounds associated to the pads. When I realised this rookie mistake a whole new world opened up!!! Amazing..Version: 1.1.4

WowThe workflow is insane! It has so much attention to detail like two simultaneous keyboards with independently controlled octaves, different automation lengths, and the clever way pads do pitch and velocity (off by default!) So next version let’s get 16 pads instead of 9 ;) Still I’d pay $50 for this (hope this comment ages well...) and I got it for $7.99..Version: 1.0.2

Awesome toolA great tool for on the fly creativity, works smoothly and very approachable! The design of the app makes it easy to navigate and overall intuitive to use. It’s lots of fun to fiddle around with samples and sounds to make something, However, I found a bug(?) where there is a black bar on the side of my iPad 8th gen (10.2 inch screen). It seems to be a part of the screen which isn’t being used by the app..Version: 1.0.4

Worth the priceSo fun!.Version: 1.0.7

Awesome app, can’t wait to use!So far, great experience, and I can’t wait to explore even further. Poor GUI integration with the newer iPhone 14 Pro. Elements of the interface are hidden behind the dynamic island, rendering them unusable :(.Version: 1.2.6

Awesome App!Really enjoy the interface and all of the options compacted into this! Addicting to say the least! One thing I’m having trouble with on the Sample Page is the “Pitch” knob adjustment. It keeps resetting back to default (0) after I alter it for a specific pad. The “Gain” knob right next to it stays wherever I set it, so I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if I’m just not doing something properly. Download this if you are even slightly interested in getting into this kind of music production! It’s worth it!.Version: 1.0.2

Great start but so far not great for making full tracksI think the app is a great achievement first of all, I think it’s pretty well made but I haven’t found it all that useful for making full tracks, however it is fun to mess around in and definitely worth the purchase..Version: 1.0.4

Very powerful samplerThis is a super accessible sampler with some good effects and a simple ui.Version: 1.0.3

Never be without music creation anymoreThis is the ideal tool to keep learning and creating anywhere. Making music with whatever comes to hand is so easy with this app. It took about 3 minutes to learn the basics and I’m off! And now with MIDI functionality! Even better..Version: 1.2.0

Great SamplerAbsolutely adore the app and think it could become something really amazing. The UI is incredibly intuitive, it just makes you want to make music. I think at the moment the workflow isn’t ideal if you want to create a more layered song without bumping it elsewhere. The ability to create longer loops for melodies, or ability to record over multiple sections could allow for more dynamic music. Also different scale views on the keyboard (maybe similar to an abelton push) could better allow improvising melodies. I don’t actual know the api limitations, but keying in notes with an iPad keyboard could also be cool. In lieu of an actual synth engine, the ability to loop a sound or wave in the sampler could add a lot more melodic sounds. Also as much as a pad system is more expressive, I think a sequencer would be useful just for things like adding hats and shakers. I don’t know what he hardware and software limitations are, but also the ability to create a separate drum track to sample over could streamline performance. I hope this hasn’t seemed too negative or demanding as, in its current state, I think the app is amazing. I think it’s a couple features away from transforming an iPad into a proper music production tool :).Version: 1.0.7

Great start! buggy beginnings.Love the software and how intuitive it is! The flow really just... flows. However, running on latest ipad pro 12 and it crashes as soon as I enter note lane. Quite frustrating at the moment. can’t wait for v1.2 :).Version: 1.0.2

Great App, one issueFirst off, this is a great sampler! I’ve had it for the past couple of weeks and have mad some small song on the go that I really injoyed. I know this app is still in its infancy and will still need some updates. I do have weird glitch that is happening that I can throw at the development team here. When I go from any project to another project the tuning on my instruments is all off sometimes even the effects that I put on don’t produce the same results when I created the song. Thanks for the app will continue to use it!.Version: 1.0.3

Great Update!I loved this app since it was released, and have used it quite a lot. But I got frustrated with the sample browser and the inability to make my own folders in the browser. That’s all fixed now. 10/10 update, exactly what I had been asking for! will continue to make good use of this as the only thing this iPad does! Thanks Andrew and Co..Version: 1.1.2

AmazingOne thing i would really like would be the option to export individual samples/ airdrop. That would be a game changer. Simple and easy to use, very powerful sampler. Great for creating sounds on the go..Version: 1.0.7

So good. This app is really great. UI is a little dated for 2021, but the functionality and flow is here. I also use Koala which is amazing and you should buy both, but this app allows for way easier sculpting of sound and much more in depth sequencing for building full tracks. One feature request, allow it to preview a sound before importing. If you download a ton of samples from Splice for example, they all have really long, really similar file names, so being able to preview the sound before assigning it to a pad (like you can on the 1010 blackbox) would be amazing..Version: 1.0.7

Not bad at all!I have to say that this app out the gate does pretty fine job of creating beats. I am/was a huge DM1 fan by Fingerlabs, but as long as that app has been out the devs failed to listen to request to make a DM3 with advanced features commonly use with other beat apps. Well I’m happy to say that the devs for Flip have answered the call with some of the features that I’ve requested from Fingerlabs are on this app. Would like to see AUV3 implemented into the app, as well possible IAA if possible. As of this review I see they also added a feature to reuse recordings in the app from the tape folder. Nice! I’ll update my review from 4 ⭐️’s to 5 when more features are added by way of updates..Version: 1.0.4

Pretty sweet! This is really an amazing little app! The workflow and GUI are fantastic. In the future if you would consider adding at least 16 pads, longer pattern lengths, and perhaps and search function for the sample browser this could really be a little beast. (AU instruments and fx would be excellent but I also respect the simple ethos of the app. Many thanks!.Version: 1.0

Amazing appThis app is super cool and has everything you need. And surprisingly this is just released. I hear you guys will continue updating that app. This app is already great. One issue I had is when trying to learn the buttons is sometimes after I clicked the help button and click something I don’t know, the words are sometimes blotched up. I still very much enjoy this app and will continue using it a lot. Also please add more arrangement patterns as 16 is not enough for me. Thank You!!.Version: 1.0.2

Very well madeWonderful piece of software for beginners and advanced users alike!.Version: 1.0.2

Absolutely fantasticThis is the best music app you can get hands down! Comparing this to the teenage engineering pocket operators that are like £75, this is so easy to use and has so many cool features. I have managed to lear how to use it in about 20 minutes by watching the handy video on YouTube and after about two hours of messing about I have made some really cool beats. Another cool feature is that you can air drop audio files from a Mac straight into the app to use as samples and add to your library. Absolute 10/10 worth the £8 if you are a keen music maker..Version: 1.0.2

Best mobile samplerThis is the best mobile sampler I’ve ever used. It records live mixing and automation, and exports multitrack plus a master of session. It took an hour to get used to the flow, but it’s soo much fun. I’ve made a track with it and I really liked the way it came out, much more dynamic than what I usually make thanks to the automation features. Highly recommend this!.Version: 1.0.6

Superb!I love this App! Such an easy way to sketch ideas down. Very intuitive and easy to use. A.Version: 1.0.7

Good app but found bugIf you disable microphone in permissions it won’t tell you, and it will simply quietly no longer record audio and it won’t tell you why..Version: 1.0.5

YesI came across Flip through Andrew’s YouTube video. I initially didn’t realize Andrew was involved. My impression was it was a paid endorsement. I would describe the Flip app as taking cues from groove boxes, but it is ingenious because it uses your phone’s technology. I use the app for idea generation. I start a new project, and I intentionally use the randomization of the pad samples. Having a fresh mix of noises to play with really drives creativity. My workflow is as follows - I almost play with Flip like a video game experimenting with different ideas. Once I create something that excites me, I export the stems, which is a fantastic idea and upload the beat to my Google Drive. From that point, I load the stems (Wav format) into my DAW and begin building the character / developing the relationships between sounds more deeply. Flip being on my phone makes beat-making accessible. My dog woke me up this morning earlier than usual. While waiting for the dog to do what dogs do - I laid out the premise of a solid beat. The accessibility of Flip with the randomization of pad samples and the ability to export stems has made Flip very usable - and another source for beat creation. To be clear, I wouldn’t have described Flip as a new idea. Many products on the market exist that would be similar or potentially an improvement due to their maturity, but what makes Flip great is the fact isn’t competing with the more mature instruments out on the market. Flip is a portable application, and that is where this app shines. In this case, Flip is highly accessible, which means you have more opportunities to use Flip than alternatives. The more use, the more reward. Andrew stated in his Youtube video that there isn’t a better value proposition for the app’s cost, and I feel that isn’t an embellishment. The only suggestion I would make is expanding the help for the tape icon to clarify how to use the functionality. One of my fav apps..Version: 1.0.7

Great and comprehensive appThis is a perfect way to show someone the primary aspects of sampling and in fact has a little bit of everything so is like a basic daw with stabilisers. I bought it for my girlfriends phon but primarily for her 12 yr old daughter who’s taken to it like a duck to water! My only issue are a few crashes and glitches (on my own iPad - I’ve purchased it twice) and a fiddly note input screen. I think it’s fairer to say it’s a four and a half. Also there’s an issue with family sharing so we had it on the daughters iPad mini for a day but it doesn’t work anymore to much avail. This is frustrating but probably an App Store issue. Just wanted to let people be aware that the family sharing thing isn’t rock solid. I’m going to contact the developers and apple to ask for a dispensation code or someone because it’s worth chasing up and I am keen to support the app. I myself have made several ‘bits’ that I’m exporting to an Octatrack for further sampling, it really is a valid component of a serious workflow as well as a beginners dream..Version: 1.0.4

WowI cannot believe how clever and wildly useful this ridiculously cheap app is. Don’t get it if you can’t afford to lose hours creating legit recordable samples and patterns. Not for people who think making music should feel like hard work, because this is pure fun..Version: 1.2.5

Awesome app, amazing potentialI’ve been in a dry spell for quite a while struggling to get ideas into reality. Within an hour of using this I had some banging tracks. It’s super intuitive and just fun to make some music. It’s got a lot of potential and I have some suggestions; having more bars is a must (but I’ve heard that’s coming soon), looping samples with a button or loop start/end points would be awesome & assigning multiple parts of a sample to different keys could make it awesome for chopping vocals. The list goes on and on about how much cooler this app could become (on top of how great it is already). It would be the one stop shop for on the go music production in your pocket. Can’t wait to see what features come next!.Version: 1.0.5

A lot of promiseSuper intuitive UI, really fast midi editing (although maybe a bit fiddly initially), and the ability to IMPORT YOUR OWN .WAV FILES????? There is a ton of promise here for commute producing - the only issue I’ve had so far are crashes are quite frequent, but this is usually not a big issue as changes are auto saved almost instantly and the app re-opens quick so you only ever have to re-do the last one or two changes!.Version: 1.0.2

Super efficientI don’t usually bother writing reviews but this app deserves it. I’ve been playing around with it for a little while and love how fast the workflow is. It’s pretty incredible how many useful little features it has - the effects on each sample, ease of adding automation, the ability to automate things like sample start time, built in mastering effects etc etc. I also just tried exporting something for the first time. The first present surprise was the immediate question “Exports stems or master?” which is great, I can import the stems into logic for further fiddling. The next (which is more an iOS thing really) was that I could immediately airdrop the export to my iMac and I instantly had a handy zip file of the stems - no messing about with uploading to the cloud and re-downloading or emailing to myself or anything like that. The only thing I struggle with a little bit is manipulating notes on the piano roll but that may be a combination of fat fingers and lack of knowledge on things like zooming and hitting the right points to drag things. Overall though it’s a great tool and really fun to sample “found sounds” and build something..Version: 1.1.4

Beautiful creative music App!, but.I love making beats on this software and messing with it on my computer, this is a seamless process of recording samples, to recording session, to saving to my iCloud, to editing software it’s amazingly simple. I would give it 5 stars but have a simple grape with the app now won’t let me upload things to it to use not sure why but gives me an error, but other then that I love this app I like restarting sample pads so it wasn’t to much of an inconvenience. I do have a update idea, have the option to maybe edit names of the pads page and also maybe have the option to change the colors of them. That would be amazing to helping me decipher my pads lol. But thanks for making a great app!.Version: 1.4.2

Only spent four minutes in this app......and already I predict it will be purchased down the line by ABLETON. Huang, you’ve done it again! What an amazing phone sequencer for on the go jams and a crazy great inspiration tool! Totally gives GarageBand a run for the doe, and is right up there with Maschines app! Love the simplicity and ease of access approach to creating samples! Keep up the great work mannnnne! Also VERY affordable in app pack downloads! Very humble and jaw dropping app! 🙏🏽🙏🏽.Version: 1.0.7

Intuitive music making for neophytes and grandmasters alike! What the Flip confirms is the power of excellent programming combined with smart design and an intuitive UI. The meeting of a genius workflow, nice aesthetics, and impressive production value contained entirely within a small ecosystem is a quite a feat. Flip is in that Goldilocks zone of being advanced enough to satisfy a veteran producer while still remaining intuitive enough for someone who’s just getting started. As a someone who’s taught music production to kids i think this is a perfect tool to learn on. It takes all the simplicity of something like Koala and packs it with additional features. But most of all. It’s fun! Really fun!.Version: 1.0.2

Great, but could use some small tweaks.I really want to give this five stars as I have followed Andrews YouTube channel for years now. He is massively talented, genuinely seems like a nice guy, and you can easily tell that he and his team have put a lot of work into this app. And they didn’t just copy all the other music making apps on here either. This is mostly great, and I actually wish that the mobile version of Fruity Loops was more intuitive and simplified like this, instead of the convoluted layers of menus that FL Mobile is. And having tried a lot of looping apps, I think that this is worth the asking price JUST for how well you can trim samples in this. But this isn’t perfect. The few parts that are not instantly intuitive are infuriating to the “smash your phone in frustration” level. Though to be fair that’s probably my fault for never reading a manual! But there are parts here (like placing notes in the grid) that are just to small and fiddly on any phone or pad, and I don’t even know what they could do about that. And while I do love how you can trim your samples, trying to trim the end part of them had me constantly activating the “name” and “save” functions long before I was ready. That part alone made me scream by the 50th time! But the biggest problem I found was trying to sync this with other apps (via Ableton link). I tried this along with nearly a dozen other music making apps, on five different phones and pads, and I’m afraid the problem is very definitely this app adding a tiny gap in the timing. While everything else is keeping time fine, this stays just out of time (albeit by a consistent amount). If you are looking to jam on just this app, no problem. But if you are looking to mix beats between different apps then avoid using this because you end up with that galloping horses sound going on. However, if you are using this for sounds other than kick drums then I don’t think that small timing difference will be an issue. And if you just have this app open, but on multiple devices, then it at least seems to keep time with itself well..Version: 1.2.2

AmazingJust a really fun and Intuitive app..Version: 1.0.7

I love this app! A SuggestionThe little mobile DAW is so great. I love Andrew Huang and his videos/music. My honor to purchase it. I would love to see you guys add a midi chord pack for purchase. I’m not incredibly musically inclined but love to put beats on music but finding good samples takes time and as a busy dad I don’t have much of that. I would totally be willing to buy a midi chord pack if it had a lot to work with!.Version: 1.0.6

👍👍Haven’t played with the app long enough to give an in depth review, but I was recording and editing samples in seconds. I m a hobbyist level sample based producer. My plans for this app are using it to record samples when I stumble into an interesting sound in day to day life and to use it to practice the craft and make music on lunch breaks, commutes, etc... it makes music and it s on my phone so, it makes music and I always have it with me..Version: 1.0.6

Link is not working iPad OS 14+Really enjoying Flip, and am glad for its ease of use and multiple updates so soon after release! Link, though is not working as it should on our end... it did, then lost its sync over 32 bars and then suddenly will not connect to any link source. Reinstalled app, updated iOS... on a very robust network with Abelton 10 and AUM is working with link solid for days... please look into this issue and I look forward to a fix! Peace and thank you for the fun this app will bring to the world :).Version: 1.0.2

Such a fun appI’ve always struggled to really consistently use music making software, i have the fl demo but it can be such a pain to learn the ui that it feels like it doesn’t want to be accessible to beginners. That’s why i love flip, i was able to open it and start making music almost immediately. The ui is super straight forward and enjoyable to use. Thank you Andrew and the Flip Team for creating such a wonderful app!.Version: 1.0.3

Unbelievably Great ValueSimply put, this is the best value that I’ve ever seen for any sort of music making software or hardware. You can make full songs using flip alone, and with great tutorials already, you can really get deep into this. For only $10, I truly feel like it’s a no brained for any sort of music producer to own to bring out sample-based music ideas quickly, cleanly, and efficiently. Plus, you can export the master track and stems of any project to be used in your DAW of choice afterwards if you want, which is an invaluable perk. Thank you guys so much for your work on this, I can’t wait to dive in more!!.Version: 1.0.2

Small bugs ( I think)Whenever I press record and I immediately stop the recording without playing anything, when I try to play back the sounds previously recorded, I can’t hear it at all unless I exit the app. Also whenever I go to the song order tab and mess around on it for too long the app kicks me out. Please let me know if it’s just my phone being dumb:).Version: 1.2.2

Really good but FIX UNDO BUTTON (please <3)Ok so this app is really good but here’s my feedback. When you press undo, UNDO THE ENTIRE ACTION! If I highlight a section of the piano roll and change the song to a different key for example and press undo, it only undos one note at a time. Even more often, when I record a section, I want the entire section to undo to try again. But no, the app only undos one note at a time. Developers, PLEASE fix this!!!.Version: 1.0.3

Great but needs workIt’s a great concept and works great except sometimes the most random things happens and you can’t undo them like when I had a tune quite high all of a sudden everything turned to one pitch and it wouldn’t change and I accidentally slid the volume while recording and I couldn’t undo it.Version: 1.0.4

PerfectEverything about this app is just so much fun. I constantly just want to open it. I love the layout/GUI. It has such a cohesive workflow/pipeline which makes the creative pathway from start to finish very enjoyable. My only feedback at this point is if there could be a way that arming the record button just starts recording whenever you start playing and then loops upon pressing the record button again. And lastly, if in keyboard view, you could opt for the drum pads along the top instead of 2 keyboards. Everything is just so responsive that I just turn quantize off and the performance is accurately captured every time! Thank you for this beautiful instrument!.Version: 1.2.6

Love this! This is a fun and entertaining app. It does have an issue or two tho. The program crashes and disappears when attempting to drag any pattern into the trash. I'd like to be able to enter a tempo directly rather that tap or use the up/down buttons. I'm mostly using it on an iPad with IOS16 but have the same issues on my iPhone, also IOS16. Thanks for a cool app!.Version: 1.2.6

Amazing flexible sampler among other thingsRequires auv3 for that final star from me - otherwise brilliant app all around..Version: 1.0.1

Really good but will not open all of a suddenIdk just wont open.Version: 1.1.3

Great app! I would like midi supportThis app is a no brainer, i love it! It is easy to use and has a simple user interface. I would love midi support because i tried using my Akai MPKIII and i wasn't working. But anything other than that it is perfect sampler.Version: 1.1.4
