Intent - Meal Planner for Negative User Reviews

Makes planning easy but recipes lack flavorI like how simple it is to create a meal plan, especially being able to customize each meal with specific servings based on who is eating. Lunches are usually only 2 of us but dinners are sometimes 2 or 3, same with breakfast. The app lets you edit each individually to who is eating and swap out a recipe if it is not appealing. It also so helpful that it lists the portion sizes for each individual person so we are all staying at our calorie count. So far though we have only enjoyed about half the recipes we have tried. Most are bland and lack full flavor and several are difficult recipes because the ingredients are listed out of order or steps don’t make sense. I consider myself an experienced home chef and found I was spending time each day having to make guesses and adjustments to have the recipe work out. Not sure if we will keep using it but we are going to try for a few more weeks and see how it goes..Version: 3.24

It’s a good app 3.5 starsI’ve used the app for a year before writing the review. I do think the app is generally really good for the paid version. It’s easy to choose to plan a certain number of meals for each day, it takes into account preferences and diet type, it gives you a pretty accurate calorie count for the meal (cross checked using my fitness pal). The cons I have is that I love variety and near the end I was starting to get very frustrated that it kept suggesting the same meals over and over even though the database has a LOT more recipes than what was constantly being suggested even within my dietary guidelines. The side dishes and snacks are severely lacking in terms of variety so I end up deleting sides and picking other vegetables/fruits (many of which aren’t even options to log) from the grocery store. If you choose low carb be prepared for all of your suggested sides to be spaghetti squash or cauliflower rice. I like both but dang it can I get other options?!? Also I love foods from various countries. It’s obvious that the Indian, Thai, Chinese, etc meals are pretty whitewashed. Less flavor and sometimes odd pairings. I suggest finding more authentic recipes and tweaking them to fit your dietary needs or adding more spices than what’s suggested. Overall it’ll get the job done but there’s definitely room for improvement..Version: 3.23

Needs SubstitutionsThis is a review done the weekend I am starting my very first meal plan. So far, I like the concept and overall features this app offers. I do have to say that my biggest issue with the app (thus far) is lack for ingredient substitutions. As for improvements to existing features, well at the top of my head I see the app can expand their “shopping” options 9perhaps add Target/Shipt). Maybe add some connectivity with other apps/services so we don't have to go back & forth between apps to log things like workouts from apple fitness, or perhaps it can log meals from apps like Hello Fresh, what about dining out? I would like to see the option to add meals from different sources for days when we go out of our meal plan. Finally, I did notice what I think might be a bug when sending to the Health app. I noticed info. on the Health app is timed outside my time zone..Version: 3.45

Overall DecentOverall it’s a pretty good app. As far as the intention behind customizing goes the heart is in the right place. This app has great ideas! It just needs some minor updates- like as far as actually customizing your macros. It shows what your macros are but it’s always quite a bit higher in fat than I would like… which you can add in your own meals from the internet and that would fix that, but it would be nice to be able to edit the recipe inside the app and still be able to come back with accurate macros. I feel like if they either gave a section where we could add the carb/fat/protein ourselves like if we calculate it first in MyFitnessPal or if they separated recipes by even which recipes are higher in which macros. Also I sometimes find the grocery list a little unrealistic like calling for 50 sweet potatoes because where I live you can’t buy a bag of sweet potatoes so it would look really goofy to go check out 50 some individual potatoes. Otherwise this app is everything I could ever want it to be..Version: 3.24
