FINAL FANTASY VI for Positive User Reviews

Needs controller supportI fondly remember playing FFVI on the SNES. This is a brilliant port/remake that desperately needs controller support. Playing this on an iPad is pretty terrible without a controller. On an iPhone would possibly be okay. I encountered a game breaking bug within the first few minutes of gameplay and needed to start over. I defeated all the enemies, but was still stuck in battle and unable to run away. I hope that doesn’t happen again…..Version: 1.0.1

Pixelate the TextThe text should be pixelated like everything else. It is so small and hard to read right now. It’s very distracting to have to pull the phone so close to my face. Otherwise, I’m a fan..Version: 1.0.5

Almost perfect!Honestly I’m not sure why I had so much trouble sticking through this game on the SNES. The story kept me hooked, most of the characters are great, and the soundtrack is amazing. That all being said, I honestly don’t care for the Magicite system. Be prepared to grind constantly if you want to get your party members to learn all or most of the magic in the game. It’s just way too much micromanaging and it brings the pace of the game to a crawl. I much prefer the job system, especially with the improvements they made to it in Final Fantasy V. Also the final boss against Kefka is buggy as all get out. I beat him on my second or third attempt and after his death animation played out, the game froze up on me. That’s not counting several other occasions where the game froze on me during the final boss. I can’t be bothered to go through that final fight again after all the bugs I experienced. Hopefully the devs will fix this in a patch/update. Until then, I’d just stick with the original SNES game..Version: 1.0.6

Great game, trash controlsNeeds controller support, please add it !!.Version: 1.0.6

I wish there would be controller supportLove the game wish I could use my backbone or Xbox remote!.Version: 1.0.6

Great but lacks controller supportThe pixels look great on a mobile device due to the smaller size. Music is lovely. Tip for the touch controls tap first (activates the movement cursor) then drag to move. If you try and move without tapping first you'll constantly walk out of a room (trust me).Version: 1.0.1

Music way updated!I basically play this game for the music and what a surprise it was to find every track recorded by real instruments! Some of the tracks have been overhauled quite a bit but it only adds to the original. I live for the final battle with Kefka and the following ending sequence because the musical score is wall to wall NEW music after playing a game that is already jam-packed with a great score throughout. One thing MUST be fixed for the ending in this version. The timing of the music starts getting off-track right around the moment Shadow is basically giving up and shooing Interceptor away to go on without him. When the music lines up, the emotional impact is 😭😭… but instead it starts going on to Strago’s goofy theme right in the middle… and then it wraps before Strago’s sequence is done, so there is just silence while he’s grabbing the hook of the airship. The problem with the music timing happens yet again at the very end as the airship is blasting through the clouds- awkward silence because it timed out too early! Please fix! I wouldn’t want anyone new to be robbed of such a perfect ending to a great game. Thank you! Can’t wait for this game to get a modernized reboot some day!.Version: 1.0.5

Among the Best RPG’s of all timeFinal Fantasy III for SNES changed gaming forever for me. I can’t believe I can play it again on mobile. A truly welcome blast from the past. Thank you. :).Version: 1.0.1

Best Title in the Series, Period!I got to say it is a joy to play this game again, I’ve waited for months and now I can play this incredible story all over again! I just wish everyone would stop complaining about controller support. I don’t need it to enjoy this game so why do you? Square Enix thank you for this and you keep going strong like you have for 35+ years!.Version: 1.0.3

It’s as good as everybody says.I’ll make this clear: I have no nostalgia towards this game. As a teenager, I was infinitely more attached to FF4 than I was to this game. Now that I’m an adult, playing through this game has been an absolute pleasure. FF4 has been dethroned, and then some. Considering all the high praise this game has gotten from countless other reviewers, there’s not much else I can say that hasn’t already been said. This game is great. It’s got its flaws, sure, but so does every other ‘flawed masterpiece’ that’s ever come out. The World of Ruin is a bit unfocused, and it’s where the game’s pacing kinda just fizzles out. The game’s battle system is VERY easy to break (magic OP) and not all of the characters are equally well written. Regardless, this game is pretty much ageless. If you’re a Final Fantasy fan at all whatsoever and you haven’t played this game, please do so. It’s as good as people say it is..Version: 1.0.5

Not on par with other versionsI LOVE the original Final Fantasy games so you can only imagine how happy I was to learn about these new versions. In good faith I bought the whole FF Pixel Remaster bundle. I was immediately upset to see there was no controller support. When I went online to see if an update was pending, I was dismayed to find out that not only has there NOT been an update in ages, but the PS4 and Switch versions have alternate music tracks, no encounter mode, and an EXP boost mode! As a family man with a rather busy schedule, those last two features would have been extremely welcome. I’m unfortunately going to issue request for a refund. Hopefully someday Square will find it in there hearts to make all versions have the same feature set..Version: 1.0.6

WowI’ll be honest, even though FF6 is one of my all time favorite games, the pixel remaster series has barely been on my radar. The improvements seemed minor and almost gimmicky, and hardly worth the time or money. Especially when I already own previous editions of the titles. But the love and care that went into the FF6 pixel remaster exceeds expectations. The new backgrounds, special effects, color pallets, vibrancy, character sprites all work together to create a beautifully fresh and yet incredibly faithful version of this game. Combat feels quick and snappy but has the usual speed and UI customizations to suit it to your needs. More than anything its hard to say enough about what the new soundtrack does for the experience. These are still very much the BGMs we know and love, but faithfully redone in an orchestral style that fits perfectly. Added instruments and layers in a few cases serve to subtly enhance the power of these musical pieces rather than make them into something unfamiliar. This is FF6 better than I remember it. It looks, feels, and sounds incredible. I’m very impressed and based on my first few hours with the game I expect this will truly be the definitive version of FF6..Version: 1.0.1

Controller SupportFor once I have played a version of this game based on the original and not the remakes with the extra features. The only thing I would ask is a controller support. I have the Backbone controller accessory. It would be awesome for this game and rest of the Pixel Remaster games have controller support too..Version: 1.0.6

Awesome with one annoyance…..I absolutely love this version of FF6. My one complaint is the wonky digital d-pad. Just like FF5 pixel remaster and probably all the other pixel remasters, it works, but there are times the response isn’t great. Luckily in a game like this, it’s not extremely critical for the most part. There is the tap to move option that works much better, but a little annoying trying to get through doors. Rather than that, I highly recommend this game..Version: 1.0.1

Great VersionRage commands not remembered with auto battle. I get around this by selecting to remember my last inputs then I can just quickly tap to re-Rage, but remembering Rages would be nice, especially since the monster names can get cluttered. Some animations are not as smooth as the SNES, but this is probably due to a one size fits all engine. This includes multiple sprites moving in sync, dismounting chocobo, airship lands on the maps Z-axis rather than Y-axis, the thief hopping between Zozo windows, etc. A small handful of things don’t translate to mobile, like blitz inputs. The game really holds your hand when inputting blitz commands, so you will never fail. With auto-battle this is just a fact of life. I suppose a quick fix would make blitzes simply consume MP to balance a 100% success rate, but whatever. A few of the more memorable scenes are redone with a bit of 3D flair and works really well. OST is amazeballs..Version: 1.0.1

Font size too smallPlease increase English font size, it needs to be x2 bigger. Otherwise a good game, well done..Version: 1.0.5

Awesome, but a bit rushedDay one player here. You guys knocked this thing out of the park with the graphics and the soundtrack, and added a couple nice touches in places not well-thought-of, but the game falls a tad short in other small ways, as if it was rushed. Fix Strago's Blue Magic animation, please! Previous versions used a spinning blue triangle and a unique sound effect that apparently isn't present here. Thank you..Version: 1.0.1

I’d say it’s just right now!Thank you for the last round of fixes! This game is outstanding and everything I have come to expect from the pixel remaster series. Keep it up!.Version: 1.0.5

STONE COLD CLASSIC (with slight control issues)I’m not going to be the one millionth person to heap praise upon this undisputed masterpiece, I just swung by to say that adapting the controls for a touchscreen environment couldn’t have been easy. Initially, it’s a bit awkward, but 10 hours in – I had easily adjusted. Had the OPERA HOUSE scene not been altered, this could’ve been a deal breaker, and no, I’m not referring to the singing. Which is just fine. Slight navigational issues with the TAP function, but mostly workable. Cheers!.Version: 1.0.4

Great but still no controller supportPlease add controller support.Version: 1.0.1

It really is Pixel Perfect with some bells and whistlesI’ve been waiting for this since they announced the pixel perfect remasters and honestly I’m quite pleased with this release. It is definitely a high contender for the definitive way to play Final Fantasy 6. However there are some annoyances with the control pad..Version: 1.0.1

Lost save gamesI’ve been losing my save files.Version: 1.0.6

I met a strange bug.I’ve got 36/37 achievements now, only “Earn all achievements” one left, that’s really strange..Version: 1.0.6

FantasticGame is awesome. However it tends to reset on iPhone if you put it in the background to open text messages etc. so make sure to save.Version: 1.0.6

Great game! 10/10I’ve never played FF6 before, just like most I started with FF7 and I kept hearing people say FF6 is the best one and so I had to see for my self. I must say I missed out all these years on a gem, the story is captivating and the characters are fun and lovable. This is definitely around the pinnacle of squaresoft/square enix games. Very enjoyable, and will definitely be doing multiple playthroughs..Version: 1.0.3

Brings back my childhood but…Having played through the only issue I have with the game is there is no extra content after you play through ( Dragon’s den. Soul shrine. Ect) Given if you bought the collection and was told it will no longer be supported in the App Store once the pixel remastered series came out well… I feel like the extra content mentioned above should have been given since we had to basically rebought the series or at least an option to pay a little extra for the extra content. Other than that over all great job on a classic..Version: 1.0.4

Great! Controller support would be nice.I heard that this was better than vii, which I have on switch, and LOVE, but I thought I would never be able to get vi. Well here it is! You can play it in slightly remastered graphics, or original! Overall, the game is perfect! A good story, maybe not as entertaining as vii, but still very good, gameplay is great, controls are a little awkward, but good considering it’s on mobile. Would be five if it had controller support. Please square! Everyone wants it! It would be a great experience, a fantastic one, we just need controller support. It’ll even sell better! Add controller support.Version: 1.0.6

WowThe visuals and the music. Everything I wanted this to be. So good..Version: 1.0.1

Needs controller supportMy favorite game of all time and the pixel remaster looks and feels AMAZING. However, it desperately needs controller support. Being able to play this on planes or in hotels with a control would be incredible. Having to hold the iPad, makes me just want to play other games instead. If this fix this, it will be 5/5 for sure!.Version: 1.0.1

Needs controller supportCome on guys this is embarrassing.Version: 1.0.5

Finally updated! Finally worthy of 5 stars! One of the greatest RPGs of all time… and I have been waiting for a year+ for controller support to be added. Well, it has finally been added - and I’m now starting the FF6 journey once again. Thanks Square Enix. …only thing missing now is the original font fix..Version: 1.1.0

Childhood remastered!Great revision of a classic from my childhood. Improved menu, post battle screen with EXP until next level shown, and even MAPS!!! The new remastered pixel artwork looks fantastic! My only gripe with this game is there is ZERO support for Backbone/Bluetooth controllers. You have to use the built in controller options in the game, which is incredibly disappointing for those of us with classic SNES Bluetooth controllers that want that classic nostalgia of playing back in 1994. Previous releases of games such as the final fantasy initial releases, Chrono Trigger, etc., support Bluetooth controllers, so why not the pixel remasters?.Version: 1.0.1

A great version of a fantastic game!A fantastic remaster and I love it! The graphics feel both faithful and new at the same time! The Opera scene has always been one of my favorites of all time and this is the best version yet!! I’m a little disappointed in the decision to leave out the GBA extra content, but it’s not a deal breaker. I just don’t get why there’s a forced analog stick on the screen, why it’s so big, why it’s opacity can’t be adjusted or why it doesn’t appear wherever I touch the screen but instead is at a fixed location. (I also wish it were on consoles instead of just phones and Steam.) (Also, the game’s clock is broken. Apparently, it took me 97 hours to get to Vector 🤣).Version: 1.0.3

No controller support apparentlyThis is a big downside. Obviously there must be controller support since this was also released on steam, but I can’t get it to work with iOS. I can play with a controller on every other final fantasy app that I have on my phone. Including the other version of FF6. This makes streaming this game much more inefficient, and on top of that, playing the game with a controller instead of the touch screen is easier and more intuitive. Otherwise the remaster is great. The updated score is fantastic. I much prefer the pixel graphics to that weird, post retro sort of thing that is on the other FF6. Pretty much everything is great about this game except for the lack of controller support on iOS. If this gets implemented then I will change my review to 5 stars..Version: 1.0.4

Chaser Veldt bug! There is a bug if you fight Chaser in the Veldt the Trappers don’t spawn when defeated. The ATB gauges stop filling, you can’t successfully run, and your only option is to reset and lose progress. Hopefully they fix it. For now, unless you are leaping to acquire the rage, run from Chasers in the Veldt!.Version: 1.0.1

Controller Support!!I love this game and I actually purchased it to play with my backbone external controller for iPhone and I think it would be awesome with support as I didn’t realize it didn’t have it..Version: 1.0.6

A Fabulous Remaster - Close To PerfectI’ve been waiting for this remaster ever since I played the original Final Fantasy 6 release for iOS which was a (phantom) train wreck. So far the remaster is great - the graphics, music, QOL improvements - all top notch. A few complaints / issues however that are keeping this game from being perfect. Hopefully they’ll be addressed in future updates. 1. The font - I’m playing on a 2020 iPhone SE and I feel like I have to keep it inches from my face to read the dialogue. It doesn’t help it’s small and impacted. I hope they change it to a more legible font (although unlikely given this is the 6th PR release with the same font). Maybe on bigger phones or tablets this is less an issue, but on smaller devices it’s borderline unreadable. 2. The play clock is broken - If you’re still in game and you switch to another app, it’s still running. It’s taken me 16 hours to get to the Imperial Camp apparently. 3. The d-pad is annoying - I’m not sure why they felt the need to put a mini version of the character you’re using in the middle that moves the same way as it does on screen. It’s kind of redundant? I know who I’m using. It also would be nice to have the option for a 4-way d-pad instead of the 8-way. I find myself going diagonal half the time by accident..Version: 1.0.1

Good game but need fix few things1.FF6 is real different to FF1 ~5, Should build another “Skip” key in the battle around “Escape”, In this game, there are many battles we have to skip to next character doing some first in order, but “Skip” in second page, and this is an “ATB” RPG, Lots of situations we are faster, but with uncomfortable control let enemies go first. At least put the “Skip” to first page. 2. BUG......2000kills archevement has bug, i account my savedata, im sure i have over 3700 kills but didn't get the archevement. That's make me last 2 archevements not complete yet. SAD. because of this, i didn't play it for 3 days wait for next patch fix the bug. Then ill go another low level challenge. 3.Veldt has uncomfortable game control∶ When you train Gau in Veldt after Gau jumped, If you turn on the auto mode will not stop when Gau return.(For example∶ Celes and Terra both use Ultimate to enemies, Celes first killed all the enemies→Gau return→Terra Ultimate to Gau→Gau leave even you turn off auto before enemies die, but command still last to Gau) At lease in Veldt when Gau return, should turn off the auto mode or stop everything automaticly, otherwise i have to manually play all battles. Extremely uncomfortable while i get all rages. For anyone who care about all archevements, tips for Setzer slots “777” Team build Locke+Setzer+Any 2, Locke and Setzer wear Hermes sandals or Marvel shoes, when initiation Locke use “Echo screen” then Setzer slots(Must before enemies), you have chance to do “777”, Just do it like in the casino, Because of the codes, this is the easiest steps make 777 possible, or almost situations are impossible to get 777..Version: 1.0.3

Requesting controllerGame is terrific always has been and even better with a new pixel update to the game but please just update to where we can use the controller on our phones.Version: 1.0.4

Please include the original soundtrackPlease include the original soundtrack along with the new arranged music. The original soundtrack would add just a little nostalgia. Overall the game is great. The graphics are almost identical to the SNES version..Version: 1.0.1

Great remaster; familiar game with phenomenal musicI’m loving my time with the Pixel remaster. The only reason I am giving this a 4 is due to a game breaking bug. It’s for the optional quest for Gogo. After crossing the bridges with the wandering too-hat gentlemen, if you enter the next room, the game soft locks and remains as a black screen. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m currently walking around with one of my characters as an imp or using the moogle charm, but it looks like I won’t be able to get gogo this time around. Still, I’ve been having a great time playing through one of my favorite RPGs of all time..Version: 1.0.5

Controller support added!Well done Square Enix for adding controller support, finally. Very good.Version: 1.1.0

Loving it so far - **Request for control update**This game is blowing my mind. It’s the first time I’ve played FFVI but I’ve watched a few videos of the older versions and the art the team they put into this is incredible. The music, the visuals, the atmosphere, the tiny little movements the characters do, I love it. Really enjoying the story so far too. I can’t wait to see where it leads. TO THE DEVELOPERS: Could you please update the control system? (these notes are from using an 11in. IPad) Having the virtual joystick be locked into place means that whej I lift my thumb for whatever I will inevitably press it down too far to the left or bottom or something of the d-pad (since I can’t feel the physical buttons) and so then the character will be running in directions I didn’t intend and it gets annoying. I played Chrono Trigger on my iPad recently and the controls on that were PERFECT. Having the joy stick appear wherever your thumb lands and swipes, but then stay in the same spot if you are just tapping, is a great system. Could you add a third control option to have the floating joystick? Thank you!.Version: 1.0.1

They added controller support!!From the title, they added controller support! That was the biggest thing they needed, it was tough to play otherwise because your thumbs get in the way of the screen. The pixel art is beautiful, the music is remastered, and the game is mobile! Wonderful.Version: 1.1.0
