✓ Corporate RuinIf you came to One looking for a bank that cares about its customers, communicating with them, and fulfilling the expectations they themselves set up, run away, now, and quickly. The One CEO came to this FinTech’s subreddit a few months ago and told us that very little would change, and all the changes would benefit One’s customers. Instead of fulfilling their own expectations, they sold the company to WalMart and dropped the majority of its defining features other than being a basic, virtual bank. For those curious, we lost the ability to: 1. Create new Expense Pockets 2. Create virtual cards for those Pockets 3. Point our Debit Card to any Pocket 4. Modify Recurring Transfers 5. Share Pockets with anyone (Spouse, Children, Roommate, etc) 6. Share our Spend Pocket 7. Lock a pocket against ACH transactions 8. Virtually send payments to anyone 9. “Send a check” (we do not have physical checks) 10. Access our previously extant Credit Line In return, we get: 1. 2% Cash Back (up to $50) at WalMart (and a few other places) 2. Deposit Cash at WalMart Clearly this did not benefit One’s customers. This benefitted the One CEO and WalMart. I can’t tell you which bank TO use, but I would advise any potential customers to carefully consider if they would trust their bank after making these barely-announced changes..Version: 2.0.1
✓ We’re at the top of a very slippery slope. This one hurts me to write. To be clear, my experiences thus far with One have been beyond phenomenal. 5 stars without question. But after the companies acquisition, the features that made the app what it is are being slowly stripped away. A recent email from the One support team vaguely outlined upcoming changes for August in the interest of "simplifying the One app" to "better support you". The update intends to remove and limit key features, pushing One closer to the every day online banking interface offered by most any big bank. If you dig a little deeper and check their website, these changes seem much less rooted in the desire to better support customers. *New users will be limited to creating just three pockets (previously unlimited) *Users will no longer be able to use their physical debit card to access their pockets *They are limiting access to the credit builder feature and removing it from the app *Users will lose access to the pay anyone feature and the send a check feature (both allegedly will return but I am not optimistic) *The ability to add money to the high yield savings account (3% APY) will be discontinued. This really feels like the beginning of the end for One. Im working on a plan to get myself, my friends, and my family back to our brick and mortar banks quickly in case this gets any worse. I hope they feel the backlash from this chance and right the course but again, I am not optimistic..Version: 1.45.1
✓ Use Another Neo-BankLong story short, if you want to use a bank that removes usable features in the name of “streamlining their service” then sure ONE Finance is for you… If you came to One looking for a bank that cares about its customers, communicating with them, and fulfilling the expectations they themselves set up, run away now, and quickly. ✓ Absolutely terrible bank.Today I realized my usually scheduled direct deposit from work had not been credited to my One account(s). I spent a good portion of my day going back and forth with my payroll department and finally spoke with someone who stated that the direct deposit had been rejected by my bank. So, I call One (after searching online for the customer service number, they absolutely refuse to offer it to you via the app) and after speaking with a couple of different people, a “supervisor” advises me that my account was, “on hold to investigate issues with multiple accounts.” And when I asked why I wasn’t contacted about this, I was offered, “we normally don’t reach out to clients when we perform these investigations.” Excuse me, what?! So far I am being assessed over $500 in late fees from different creditors for delinquent payments. That’s $500 I’ll never see again. Thieves..Version: 1.45.0

✓ Worst online banking appI’ve been using them for a while because I loved the 3% APY when you roundup your spending. But when I tried to add money into my account after not using it for a while it wouldn’t work. Finally I called them and the customer service said “we’re closing your account” when I asked why, they couldn’t tell me! I never even got an email letting me know this, I only found it out after I called them. Then I called back again and they said my account wasn’t closed but it’s under review and someone will email in 1-4 weeks. When you’re dealing with banks that wait time is too long and it’s unacceptable. They need better communication between customer service and the back end teams. Also they shouldn’t have someone wait weeks and not even be so kind to send an email explaining the next steps. I’m going to Revolut since they have amazing customer service and really good benefits. The only thing is that there’s not a high APY and you have to pay for Revoluts premium account..Version: 2.2.0
✓ Bait and switchThe promises One made about their product offering when my wife and I signed up were great. Their big marketing push to welcome people abandoning Simple (because it was being shut down) was very effective. They promised budgeting tools (formerly known as Pockets) which were essential for those of us looking for a digital envelope system to responsibly manage our spending. They also promised easy sharing of said pockets between users, which was the only reason we were able to make it work as a family. Well before long they decided to limit those sharing abilities. And then they decided to remove them to a degree. And now they've just completely obliterated those features in their latest rebrand (the third we've seen in less than 2 years). This company can't seem to stabilize who they are and — more importantly — who they serve. And if you join now based on whatever their marketing identity of the week is, just know it will probably change in 6-8months. If you like stability in your financial institutions, run from this one..Version: 2.0.1

✓ Awful experience, they keep making it worseWhen Simple closed, my wife and I decided to use One as it looked like a decent successor. Dead wrong. It was great at first - they offered a nice credit line of overdraft funds, and we could have a joint account. Now the overdraft funds are limited to $200 a month. This had no announcement. Our previous overdraft limit was $1800, so when they cut it down, we had no way of using any money. Now, this week, I go to move my paycheck into our shared Spend pocket, only to see that that option has been removed. So now you can’t even have a joint account anymore. Discontinuing this makes NO SENSE. At this point, this “bank” feels like a scam and I expect it to close any day now, again with no announcement. The customer service is practically non-existent and they don’t even have the nerve of warning you when they’re shutting down basic banking features. Awful experience and our last time dealing with an online bank. We’ll be closing our accounts and getting a “real” bank. I implore you not to use this service..Version: 1.45.1
✓ STAY AWAY –Another terrible banking startupI was a former Simple user who jumped to One Finance with the promise that leadership understood some of the problems with managing money between partners and the benefits of being able to compartmentalize finances for planning. As of two days ago all those promises have been broken. I intend to file a complaint with the CFPB, particularly around the notice with the account changes. If you are finding this app for the first time, know that none of the information on the internet about One Finance is reflective of the realities of banking with them after the latest update, and that as a bank the most important aspect, TRUST, is completely absent. The CEO and leadership of this company need to be blocked from future endeavors in finance or fintech, and I encourage everyone who is having a similar experience to file complaints, and raise awareness of any future ventures by this leadership team. We can vote with our feet and reject leadership with such poor character, and still change the banking industry for the better..Version: 2.3.0

✓ Gambling with user trust.A new version of the ONE app was rolled out. As many others have mentioned, it has been dumbed down and some of the core functionality has been stripped. Meaning: things customers have come to depend on they no longer can. Changes are inherently hard for a bank, because banks fall in the same category as utilities: it’s expected they’ll always work, and the same way. If you woke up in the morning and found the lights in your house behaved differently than the 2 years prior, you’d be unhappy. So, change will always be painful. Especially so for eBanks. In fairness, Customers *were* notified about the impending changes months ago, and I’ll speculate that few took issue with them … but I’ll also speculate that few anticipated that the changes would end up being so drastic in application. I’ll hope for good intent, and that the changes have been well-researched, well-tested, and that 90 days from now, it will all make sense. To ONE: you gambled a lot of customer goodwill, and let your them know they may not be able to depend on you. Many of them were Simple customers, and this feels like deja vu. Let’s both hope this pays off..Version: 2.0.1
✓ This bank had become the worstDon't use this bank or this app. It's difficult to reach customer service, they ignore customer feedback, and their transaction download feature has been broken for months and months. Today, we realized that we're done with this bank. We haven't been able to use the app all day- it just keeps crashing. They changed the functionality of the app, the accounts, and the physical cards. More importantly, all the functionality that was the initial selling point of this bank have been removed or changed to the point of being unusable. You can't change which pocket is assigned to your physical card. My husband and I split all our funds into different pockets, to split out gas, restaurants, groceries, etc. Now we'll need to transfer funds from one pocket to another first, which is way more complicated and time consuming than just reassigning the card. All of the change notices have stated that these changes are to help "simplify" the accounts but there has been an outcry from users that these changes are NOT what are wanted. I blame all of this on the sale of the bank to Walmart. They ruin everything and this is no exception. We're switching back to our credit union because after Simple ending and now the ruination of One, we're done. It was swell, One, but the swelling's gone down. Bye..Version: 2.11.0

✓ Unable to sign up for account.I've heard such great things about One and someone I know uses it and really likes it. I was attracted to it due to the combination of features One has which is hard to find. After thorough research of like services I have found that only One offers multiple pockets (or similar), credit building, overdraft protection, round ups and more. I couldn't find one that has all of these features except for One. I was really looking forward to starting an account and currently have a Wells Fargo account and three credit cards, my credit isn't terrible and yet somehow my application was declined. I'm not sure if it was due to something being reported that I'm not aware of or in some fault in the verification process but it's super frustrating getting a generic email from support telling me they can't tell me why. It makes absolutely no sense. I didn't have this much trouble opening accounts elsewhere, I mean actual banks like Bank of America and Wells Fargo made the application process easy and more personable. I am really torn because I'd still like to open an account and would really like some resolve. I don't want to turn to another service with less features just because of application issues. I wish someone would help me figure out what I can do to get through the application process successfully..Version: 1.38.1
✓ This is BAD, real BadI'm now looking to find another bank after many sudden changes happened since Walmart took over. I, like many others, was once a Simple bank member and switched over to One because of it being most similar to Simple with different spending pockets and auto-save settings we I could use to send money to one pocket that I used as an expense. They've taken away the option for multiple pockets, leaving users with only 3 pockets to use. They also took away their credit line which was a line of credit attached to your bank account. Now, since the app update it has not been user interface friendly at all. At first it was a little bit more extra steps for me to view my pockets through the app, but now I can't even view my account balance. My card has veen turned off to prevent fraud, but the bank did this after transferring money to an old account that i no longer have, and then transferred it back. I just want to pull my money and leave. It's not worth it. Simple did it best. One was next up but since the sale to Walmart, i'm very displeased..Version: 2.0.1
✓ One is now owned by WalMart - dumpster fireETA: Do not bank with One. Their app and website were down for almost an entire day (21st Sept.) with zero communication nor any idea of when it would be back up. People could not access their money at all, transactions were declined, and nobody could give an answer as to why. WalMart is gonna WalMart. If the aim was to take away every feature that made this bank/app great, well done. There is no way this went through any type of Beta testing. It’s now completely user-hostile - difficult to navigate, layout makes no sense intuitively, functionality is odd (ex. why is there a move and an add button for transferring money around? the ability to swap is now gone within that so you have perform extra steps), colors are harsh to look at and almost identical to Varo Bank, card assignment has been removed (why??), and you cannot see/access your Credit Builder Pocket unless you are on an actual browser. But hey, you can assign your pocket an emoji, so it’s cool 🙄 I will most likely have to move banks yet again due to these changes. This bank/app used to be the best, this is really disappointing and frustrating..Version: 2.0.1
✓ Do not join this bankThe new changes have destroyed everything amazing about this experience. I’m sitting here trying to pump gas and because now I have to physically log in and move money around in order to authorize instead of selecting that budget….1. It’s robbing a significant amount my time multiple times a day 2. I never know how much to pull over for something like gas because each gas station authorizes different amounts, so I end up having to go inside and have the cashier select the exact amount of money. Before this would have been a click, and go. Now it’s 20-30 minutes extra every day because they have added back extra steps and made this incredibly user UNFRIENDLY! Look into other banks or go back to brick and mortar. I’m slowly transition back everything at this time as well. I’m bitter, because this was truly one of the best banking experiences, now it’s no different than anything else neo wise out there. They also are NOT responding or listening to any customer feedback AT ALL. RUN! Do not give these people your time or your money..Version: 2.0.1
✓ The decline. One apps story of great to bad!The latest update took away so many features that made this app and this bank great. Time to start looking for another bank. They removed this amazing feature that let you pay from a pocket of designated money. This was amazing! So versatile and really set them apart. But now, not so much. I’m in the banking industry and can’t believe they would take three steps back like that. Just doesn't make sense. Also, they removed the ability to share those pockets with your spouse or others. This was an amazing feature as well! Lastly, they absolutely ruined the UI! It so difficult to use now. Before, super simple! Made sense. Now, difficult to get to features as well as difficult to actual use the app as a whole! Who signed off on these changes??!! Did they poll the actual ppl that use the app? I don’t know how they could have. Who would want to REMOVE actual great features from an app?? I get it if they were sucky features or not executed well, but these weren’t! They were super helpful and well done! Can we just go back to the old app and the old (read BETTER) features?? Plz!!.Version: 2.0.1

✓ Was Great Till Walmart Bought the AppThe app started as a great way to manage money and also offered a good Savings account. The pockets where amazing. I could take my debit card and change what pocket of money I would use from either a grocery pocket, gas pocket, or even a Trip pocket for vacations. Pockets where endless. It was great I had some family members using it and co-workers. I liked the saving account as it was simple to use. My wife and I shared the pockets and made it somewhat easy to keep track of family expenses. Walmart changed the app completely and took away all the pockets versatiliy. The pockets turned into savings accounts and now I have no use for this app. Walmart made it into a credit card type of account. You get 2% back at select places and it's only up to 50 dollars a year. Also, I will be taking my money out of this app and going back to my original bank. I think when they made the changes they didn't realise that people have options. I'm opting out of the bank. I would come back if the app went back to the original idea, instead of a glorified savings account..Version: 2.0.1
✓ Changed for the worstThis app used to be the best, hands-down. I loved all of the features that existed previously such as multiple pockets and being able to assign my card to a specific pocket, all while, retaining virtual card, numbers, routing numbers, and so on. These new changes have totally taken the app downhill, removing all of those features completely this thing lo this app used to be the best, hands-down. All of the features that made me come to this bank and use this app have been removed, and I will unfortunately be switching banks..Version: 2.0.1

✓ Broken PromisesThere was a point in time I would have rated one 5 stars, and actively recommended it to everyone I knew. However, the company was recently purchased by an investment arm of Walmart/their parent company and it has been downhill ever since. They’ve been removing features, lowering interest rates, and making the app far less user friendly. They once offered the ability to divide your expenses into “pockets” with their own account number and an option for a virtual card. You still technically can, but they limit you to something like 3 pockets, and can no longer create separate virtual cards. Overdraft protection used to be a key selling point but has been reduced to a minimal amount. The app recently went through a redesign which broke functionality for a lot of things I did daily/weekly. The company used to be extremely transparent but as of late things change with no notice, and most changes relate to the removal of features. Imagine you have your paycheck set to go to a specific “pocket” and one day they remove that feature and suddenly your payment is delayed, or they remove the pocket and you can’t use the card associated with that pocket to pay a bill anymore so now your bill is late. No longer a company I can recommend, and I will be pulling all funds in the next few weeks in preparation of me closing the account altogether..Version: 2.1.0
✓ A truly great product has diedOne was the perfect financial app. I used it for every banking need. The unique ability to have your credit line and create pockets and virtual cards made paying bills and having your financial life truly live on auto pilot. The pocket lock saved feature ensured that even when was pocket was used for paying bills with your banking info the money in your other would truly stay protected. This is gone. The ability to switch your card and create unlimited pockets have one for spending, saving, vacationing just poof gone overnight and without notice. That really does hurt as a loyal customers who took their time to promote your product to friends and family and without notice remove all the quality of life and essential features of your product is the worst of offenses you can pull on a customer. Truly unforgivable.Version: 2.0.1
✓ WAS great… then Walmart cameI was a long time Simple customer from early on and was completely devastated with its shutdown. I would never go back to a traditional bank and searched for some time for and was so happy to find One. One is truly the new standard(now that Simple is gone). One takes what Simple pioneered and builds upon it. If you are looking for budgeting without having to use a separate software, banking without fees and features that are truly pioneering then One should be your next bank. UPDATE: One was purchased by the Walmart Fintech company and they gutted and ruined One. One is now a worse version of Chime. All budgeting features and all the fear that made One stand out are now gone. Walmart bought and used One for a built in start but screwed over existing users. Do not make the mistake of getting one, there are much better options..Version: 3.0.0
✓ Don’t update to 2.0.1Latest update seems to remove a lot of functionality, making it difficult to impossible to utilize previous features. One didn’t even mention the removal of things like Pocket Protection. You also can’t move money into a pocket from within the pocket. You have to go out to the main Spend account. But you can’t move money via the Move button from your Spend account. You have to use the Add button, which makes no sense! I mistakenly initiated a bank transfer from an outdid account out of confusion. And there’s no button to cancel it. Also, YOU STILL CANNOT SEARCH YOUR TRANSACTIONS! I don’t understand how such an basic function is still missing. I love the aesthetic of the app and the high interest savings rates. But at this point, One is making it so difficult, I might jump ship again to another online bank for a better experience..Version: 2.0.1
✓ ONE is not FDIC insured.ONE is a complete fraudulent company . I had to transfer money from chime to my ONE account cuz I lost my chime debit card . The money was about $3,300 and in the next couple of I woke up seeing transaction notification from One showing my card was used and I had nothing left in my account , I tried logging into my account and it seems I was locked out . I was able to make password reset so I got onto the account but most of the features on app was limited Including seeing my balance and transaction. I was surprised and I had to contact support and the said my account was under closure . WOW. After loosing $3,300 they are closing my account so I had to file a dispute over my money and it took 30days thinking I was gonna have my money back . They didn’t and this was they said ‘ “ This letter is to inform you that we have made a final determination regarding the above noted claim dated December 27, 2021. Based on our investigation, we do not find that an error has occurred. Therefore, no funds will be credited to your account as a result of your claim and this matter is considered closed. You may request a copy of the documents we used in determining the final outcome of the investigation.” I requested fa copy of document and yet still I haven’t received a reply from them ..Version: 1.38.3
✓ Closed Account without Notice: Veterans Stay Away!I’ve been banking with ONE for a year and a half, and I was really happy with them. I’m a disabled vet and I had my monthly payments go into my one account every month. A few days ago, I received a notice that they closed my account. I’ve been reaching out to them for specifics, I need a reason as to why they closed it. They just give me a general answer. I haven’t done anything illegal, I use my money to pay bills and to buy my everyday things. I had to try to find another bank immediately and hope that I was able to change my direct deposit soon enough so that they won’t send my money to this closed account. If they do, I’m gonna have to go a few weeks without money and that will put me behind on all my bills!! I have kids to take care of. This bank really let me down, they should contact the costumer first and actually let them know what was wrong so that the customer had a chance to actually explain if anything happened. ✓ It’s not Simple...I am a current simple customer looking for a fair replacement. I came across ONE and thought that it might be the “one” - pun intended. The thing that ONE does not tell you is that you have to assign your card to a pocket in order to spend from it. This is just not acceptable. Every time I want to buy groceries, pay gas, or any other pocket, I have to change it to that pocket in order to spend from it. There is a log of future developments that say that they will allow virtual cards to be assigned to pockets. My suggestion would be to simply have one account number and be able to assign pockets to different transactions (like Simple). This way, you don’t have to worry about changing your card for the pocket that you’re wanting to spend from. For now, I will just end with this. There are many things wrong with ONE. The main one that could be a dealbreaker for me is the fact that many of my auto payment bills do not recognize the pocket routing number and account number that is assigned to it. Basically, you have a different account number for each pocket. I understand the logic and concept, but it seems to be falling flat. I am trying this bank plus the app Goodbudget. We will see which one works best. In the long run, I will most likely still use ONE, but just not use the pocket feature. Currently, it is looking like Goodbudget is winning. I will update as/if things change..Version: 1.19.0
✓ I hate this new update. With the latest update they have taken away some key features that made using this app for banking so perfect and unique. Now you can no longer create new pockets, just rename the existing ones you already had before the update. You also can no longer share a pocket with about user to make it a joint account, although if you already had an account set up like this you can still use it like a joint account, you just can’t creat another one, and now you also can no longer change which pocket is linked to the physical card, so it now just always linked to the spend account. Lastly you’re no longer able to overdraft the spend account up $10. These were all features I used regularly, and was why I loved this banking app, but now I hate it, and if they don’t fix these lack of features by adding them back I will be looking for a new online banking app to use..Version: 2.0.1
✓ Was great, but it’s now horribleWhen I joined this app it was great and had excellent features you couldn’t find anywhere else (multiple “pockets” for budgeting, the ability to create new pockets, the ability to spend from specific pockets with your physical card, mobile deposits). All of these features made it an excellent solution for budgeting. Unfortunately, they recently updated the app and removed all of these features. Today, while on a chat with ONE customer service, I learned that the mobile check deposit feature is not available to all users. A mobile bank, with no physical locations, doesn’t offer mobile deposits?? That makes zero sense. A year ago I was telling everyone about this amazing app - now I tell everyone to avoid it. The vast majority of the positive reviews this app has received have to be from before the update. If you looking for a digital banking solution, this isn’t it..Version: 2.3.0

✓ Hate this redesignI’m wondering if they even did any user testing because this new redesign is absolutely terrible. I do not like the separation of spending and all of my other accounts/pockets. It used to be very easy to see a quick overview of all the money I have in an all of my pockets, but now that is not the default tab. I barely ever use the spend account, so that’s not helpful at all. I use One mostly for the high interest savings, as I would assume most people do because of their high APR. Also, it was beneficial when the app colors were yellow and black because it differentiated it from all other banking apps. Now they have switched to a purpleish blue that looks very similar to U.S. Bank and other banking colors making the app blend in with all the others. Abrupt change is not the way to go about such a drastic nav update, especially as far as user experience is concerned. If y’all need a UX Designer, reach out. ;).Version: 2.0.1
✓ ONE is removing all of the features that made it greatLike many others, I joined One after Simple was shuttered because they seemed like the closest approximation to what I was getting from my banking. The pockets allowed me to properly budget my money, and pocket protector allowed me to not worry if a bill was higher than what I’d budgeted (especially helpful with credit card bills). And me and my wife used the shared spend pocket as a sort od joint account. Now, One is limited pockets, removing pocket protection (which only hurts their members, because it’s going to result in declines charges, even though funds might still technically be in their account), and removing the ability to share spend pockets, making the service all but unusable for me and my wife. I’ve already started the process of joining another bank. When they began, One was very responsive (especially on the One Finance subreddit), listening to requests, concerns and ideas for their customers. Now, they’re taking away everything their customers wanted from their service. They’re become just another bank who cares little for their customers experience. It was nice while it lasted, but I’m out..Version: 1.45.1

✓ Removing features, crippling the serviceChanges over the last year or so, especially with the new Walmart deal and complete redesign of the app have many of us extremely nervous that this will become a very basic banking service. Even the pockets are no longer alphabetically sorted. HOW? WHY? A bunch of great features are now gone, and without any new valuable features.
