Qustodio Parental Control App for Negative User Reviews

Seemed great but was bypassed by 13 years old after 5 days of useThe app features are great if only it could not be bypassed so easily by kids. Sadly internet is full of advises on how to hack parental control apps including Qustodio. This was actually the first search my kid made. I know it thanks to Qustodio’s features before it became totally useless. I’m very disappointed I did purchased the expensive Premium version for 5 days of useful parental control..Version: 182.7.1

Very glitchyPaid for the year. It stopped tracking the phone. Uses a lot of storage and doesn’t turn off when you have set the times. If you have an IOS beware some features you can not access. Very disappointed, will contact for a refund ..Version: 180.5.1

TerribleI contacted your guy but no respond yet. There is no telex number to call. I sent messages but no respond. My 12-year-old son disabled this App right after I install it and my daughter’s computer was still woking for 20 minutes after the limit time up. The “extra time” confirmation doesn’t work when I click it. May I know how do I request refund!.Version: 181.34.2

BuggySo far in the first 24 hours of using this app it prevented both our kids iPads from updating to iPadOS 14.3 because for some reason it was blocking the internet connection. Even though I was performing the update just after installing the app and setting up daily limits (kids had not yet used the iPads). As my daughter slept last night and reported her iPad was in use and had already exhausted the limitBy the time she woke up. I read an article that claims Apple for some of this stuff but it appears to me that the app is just poorly made. Some of the kidslox has issues as well.I will go into that up when I review it. Sufficed to say I am unimpressed with any of the parental control options from Apple or third parties as they all have issues of some kind. Apples in the house parental controls are too weak well these apps promise and some extent deliver more control the trade-off seems to be the features do unexpected things rendering them useless for daily use I would really like my money back..Version: 180.16.0

This is a waste of money.I installed this app on my daughters iPad and it doesn’t work well at all. We’ve been using it for only about a few days and I’ve noticed a lot of bugs, and extremely annoying and confusing things. First, when I try and give my daughter some extra screen time it wont allow her to use the internet, meaning that ‘extra screen time’ goes to waste. Second, this app blocks my daughter from using a few apps that I have not blocked her to use, for example; Minecraft, Youtube. There was also this one time my daughter woke up and played on her iPad for a bit, but then took a nap for about 3 hours. During that time this app marked her as on her iPad so it basically killed the screen time she had. When I tried to give her extra screen time, it didn’t allow her to go on the internet, as I’ve already stated. Overall this app does not work well and it is not worth the money. Please save your money..Version: 180.5.1

Screen time glitch? My niece isn’t allowed access to her phone until 7am and get on the bus at 7:20am and leaves her phone at home, so you would think the max amount of time she could have been on her phone was 20 minutes right? Wrong her screen time says she’s used 57mins and she’s only allowed an hour a day as she’s only 10 years old. This isn’t fair to her, me or her sister. Does this app could notifications as screen time? Does it count sitting on the screen that says time it up? This needs fixed it’s ridiculous. It defeats the whole purpose of the app! And when I looked at her activity it only says things about location so she hasn’t even actually been in n her phone???? Which is crazy! Fix this and maybe I’ll change the rating but for now it’s a one. If I wanted to go of the kids words on how long they’ve been on I wouldn’t have downloaded this...Version: 182.11.0

Seemed good at first but now I’m disappointedWould not recommend for an iPhone. Practically useless on it. We got this for our daughter as she was starting to spend far too much time on her phone. At first it was good, gave us location etc, but this has stopped working. It doesn’t block after the times set, it doesn’t do anything that it says it would, typically after we’ve paid for the year subscription. Waste of money..Version: 182.1.3

Issues with time limitsI have set time limits for using laptop for 3-4 hrs but it does not work. My kids use laptop for more than 9hrs. Why does that happen?.Version: 182.17.1

Not worth paying premiumI paid the premium but it’s really not worth it. Way too many work arounds and loop holes if you have a savy child. Doesn’t monitor WhatsApp at all. Phone can still be used by responding to notifications (text messages etc.) even when it’s supposed to be locked..Version: 182.20.0

Clunky and difficultI find it difficult to find the information I want and hard to sort things out. For example I will get a warning of blocked activity with a button for more information, but it just takes me to the website and I have to go looking through everything to find the information I want. I would also like to be able to lock my child’s device not just turn off the internet. Also when my child has used up their time it gives them an option to to ignore it and continue on, this defeats the purpose of setting limits, they should need parental permission to extend access to an app or access to their device. I’m not impressed so far and if things don’t improve I won’t be continuing to use it..Version: 182.17.1

False sense of securityMy 10yr old was able to hack past this app to access sites he was banned from, he isn’t overly computer savvy and was able to access these sites just by simply hitting the back button and forward buttons fast to override the app blocking the sites. Do not recommend for parents wanting to protect their children online..Version: 180.5.1

WORSE THAN RUBBISHAt the best of times It can’t do what they promise as they can’t ever stop your kids from making calls or messaging, it doesn’t even work properly to control apps. Every time we install it there are problems with my kids being unable to properly use allowed apps etc. we have had to uninstall and reinstall if so many times. Total total waste of time. Avoid!!.Version: 182.9.0

Not overly useful on iPhoneThe app has some serious issues - the restricted times do not work particularly well - either day light savings or it not reinstall the apps - it can be switched off by the kid by simply turning the VPN button off - there is no way a parent can known if this is happening - it make the internet on the phone unusably slow - the VPN it uses diverts traffic to the states - you can not use ‘find my phone’ on it as this software stops this function - any apple update means the whole process of installation of the app needs to be done again. All in all better off just using Apples screen time as quesdio does not work with the main aim of protecting the phones usage Might be alright for a simple kid, but not one over say 10 years old.Version: 180.11.0

It does the basicsThe app is clunky and basically a big data dump for the parent. There is some very basic organization but there needs to be much more, like having an option to show app history and time used once for each app instead of having to scroll forever, waiting for each screen to load, and still not being able to filter by app. There is the total at the top; it would be nice to be able to tap each app name and have that app show me just its details. The filtering is fairly basic. My kid can get around it fairly easily and I’ve worked in tech for years and have turned on every setting and locked the device as far as Qustodio will let me and he gets through filters without much trouble. The filtering is better than some, but I’m looking for someone to really get this right..Version: 182.17.1

Can't trust itUnfortunately this app is not great at tracking location, has listed places almost 10 miles away today despite phone being at home all day, same thing happened on a school day, he almost got in trouble for bunking off despite being in all classes, plus interferes with other apps like Life360. Seems to lose permissions every morning around 8.30ish, thought this was due to loss of signal on way to school but does it at weekends too. Doesn't seem to pick up all the apps etc. wish i'ld saved my money and stuck to Apple family permissions..Version: 182.7.1

Totally Unreliable and waste of moneyWould give zero stars if I could. I have given this app multiple tries. On every single try my observation was that it works for a few days leading to a false sense of security and suddenly nothing gets tracked any more (or) even when it tracks, it just gives you browser names and nothing else ( thus is with no changes to the computer or to the mobile used for tracking ). Restricted times, apps and websites are not honored. Support has one answer for everything ( reinstall ). You will never be connected to a live agent ever. And reinstall doesn’t solve anything. Every reinstall also needs to be done with turning off security apps thus jeopardizing the computer even more. License fee is non refundable so you are stuck for the whole year even as the child is not protected. This app thrives on sheer number of new kids that embark on internet each year. They don’t add value to any existing users. After nearly two years trying this on and off, I feel a responsibility to leave my experience here as a heads up to other parents considering this..Version: 181.31.0

My daughter found a way to bypassAt first I loved the app until I saw that my daughter by passed and unblocked the apps I blocked and changed the time schedule to give herself more time. I changed my password and still she’s able to bypass it. So what’s the point of using this app!!!.Version: 182.21.0

Okay for smaller kids, teenagers are too clever and know how to bypass systemI have used this app for a couple of months. In the beginning it worked great. Unfortunately after a while the kids know how to bypass the system to continue using games etc. Pity you can’t report these issues easily for the developers to improve the software..Version: 181.18.0

Easy to hackThis app is partly really good as it lets you monitor how much time your children are spending online and what apps they are downloading but it has a few really annoying flaws. Firstly you have to go into each app and set individual time limits for each one and for each day. Which takes ages. Far better to be able to set limits for all weekdays and then weekends. It would save a lot of time. Secondly my daughter goes in the whole time and scrambles all the settings I have just set. It should have a password protection on the actual app so that your children can’t hack in an un-do all the limits, the WHOLE time! My daughter has access to my phone for when I’m driving or need help finding messages - and she then goes right in and just gives herself as much time as she wants..Version: 182.19.3

Location services do not workCannot get location services to turn on on premium trial. They worked once only for a few hours. Phone does not unblock easily, often I have to reset repeatedly to let my child use her phone for the allowed times which is very frustrating. I will not be upgrading as if the premium trial is anything to go by, the extra features do not actually work..Version: 182.10.2

MehBeen using this for a while on my 14yr old son’s PC. Did the trial that ran out and the free version was fine for what we needed it for. Recently he’s been on his phone a lot during class. iPhone’s Screen Time apparently didn’t work so before spending money I swapped the Qustodio protection to his iPhone to block use during school hours starting yesterday, 8:20-2:40. First issue is the time intervals, hour blocks don’t work for most schedules. I had to pick 9-3pm because he’s still commuting at 8am and I want him to have access to his stuff and didn’t want to end it at 2pm because he’s still in class. At the very least there should be 1/2 hr blocks if not 10mins! Another immediate issue when he got to school, when he was in class he needed to take a pic with his phone (Film class) then upload to Google Classroom…except it was blocked on his phone because it’s all or nothing. There’s no way to “always allow” particular apps! Not limits, which are of no use when the phone is on lock down. I asked why he didn’t use his school Chromebook and he said because he took the pic from his phone. Fair enough. I had to take off the block to let him do that then put it back on. Decided to pay for the small package thinking I was limited because I was using the free version and nope. Same thing. There’s really nothing more I need with the paid version that I didn’t already have, like location tracking and app limits. Messaging and call tracking don’t work on iPhone anyway..Version: 180.5.1

Not worth the $$$I purchased this app through the apple App Store with because everything I read on it was what I was looking for. Unfortunately I was highly disappointed! Set up was a pain, monitoring and navigating is a beating! It is supposed to allow me to see my child’s text messages and I have yet to be able to successfully get that to work. I have gone back and forth with customer support with no luck of resolving the issue. I asked for a refund seeing how I sent $100 on the premium subscription which allows access to messages and was told they can not refund me because it was purchased through the App Store and I would have to contact Apple support. Customer support has been extremely unhelpful! I am so frustrated with this app, their customer support and all around customer service! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! This pricey app does not do what it says and their customer support will not help you or even refund you for a product that doesn’t work..Version: 182.20.0

Not worth the time or moneyEffectiveness...this app gave us control of screen time for about a week. After that my 9 and 10 year olds figured a work around. Not worth the subscription fees for a week’s worth of effective service. Subscription...what I really dislike is that the company employs a business model that makes it almost impossible to cancel your service. You have to remove the app from all the kids computers. Then, the shifty business practice really come into play. They claim they cannot cancel it, but google or apple have to do so. The website offers no contact information. They simply hide out and continue to collect fees for a service that little kids can work around. In addition to be TOTALLY ineffective, it is also annoying to see how the company tries desperately to cling to your wallet..Version: 180.7.1

Not worth the moneyWhile it looks very pretty, it's missing some fundamentally basic features you need to help manage your kids devices. There is no app time restrictions (despite having an overall device time limit) nor is there a quick and easy way of timing out your kids devices. The helpful features are all hidden under a hierarchy of menus, which greatly slow down your ability to actually make any changes to your kids device. Not that it matters, it'll take up to 15 minutes for the settings to apply, enough time for one kid to smash the other in the face because 'it's not fair, why is mine blocked and not theirs!' On top of all this, the app time limits seem to not work correctly. One of my kids devices just chooses to block their access to Roblox when they've used all their time up the previous day. One surefire way to make your customers hate your products is to be woken up at the crack of dawn because 'my Roblox doesn't work!' this gets old very quickly. I've tried contacting support but short of a 'try uninstall and reinstall' and 'we've passed on your message to the product team' they aren't overly interested in helping. I've persisted with it for a while now, but I'm at my wit's end. If I could get a refund, I would..Version: 182.2.0

Good for the parent, but not for the child.I have Qustodio on my laptop and most say that it is a nightmare. When I was working virtually throughout the School Year, my computer was constantly blacking out because of Qustodio and blocking school approved websites. When time is up for the day, the next day the time is still up. I also hate that when time is up it straight up shuts down your computer. On my brother’s iPad, I heard that it was blocking him from doing simple features like texting or sending dog pictures. It lets you download apps but then when you try to use the app, no movies / TV shows show up (Disney +, Netflix). I am usually very tech savvy and I know that this app is good for kids, but needs to be fixed a lot. It’s broken on our household devices and always tries to charge my mom and dad 50 USD when they paid yesterday. SCAM.Version: 180.8.0

Literally ZERO detection of adult sitesHave had installed for a couple weeks and was pleased until I took a deep dive on some search history. Felt it was perfect opportunity to test out this app. While doing so, I personally clicked on DOZENS of adult websites as well as searched terms of these adult sites and content. In total it was about 3 hours of investigating. Not only did not a SINGLE thing report to the app, they didn’t even report I was online at that time using chrome or mail. Not a single website, not even the clean ones. Not one single search term was flagged, listed, let alone blocked. It was as if the app couldn’t handle heavy content and simply ignored it. 100% can not trust this monitoring my child which is 1000% more important than an adults search history. Do not recommend..Version: 182.10.3

BuggyI don’t know if the problem is with the parent or child app, but between the two of them they frequently lock out at times when no restrictions are in place. It’ll also restrict use of an app once the limit is reached, even after the limit is then extended. Frustrating all-round. I recommend giving it a miss, or just using it to patch a few gaps in Apple’s (far superior) Screentime..Version: 182.14.1

Easy for kids to work aroundA tech savvy kid can easily turn this off on ioS devices I had to remove it from my son’s laptop as it was blocking him from the school wifi.Version: 182.18.2

Not happyMy daughters iPad keeps losing its connection to the internet because of this app. Each time I remove the app from her iPad the internet connection then kicks in just fine. For the money I paid I expect a lot more..Version: 182.18.2

I want to be refunded! The app functions is looking great, but there is 3 things why I would like to be refunded. 1. The price for the first year shows as $55 witch its $77… no discount applied as showed. 2. App BUGS with IPhone 13… Im trying to set up the rules for my kid. Each time I’m going on the app I can’t do anything and I need to shut down the app and going back. That’s very bad even more when you pay $77 for a security service you can’t manage. 3. One of the rule is my kid phone is lock for the school day nights that’s great, but she can’t have access to the Alarm to wake up! Seriously some adjustments needs to be done asap from the programming side..Version: 182.11.0

ClunkyPowerful app however it isn’t quite there development wise. Consistently have to remove the profile and re install it so the kids get internet. Save your money I cancelled my subscription after 3 days..Version: 182.8.3

Stay Away from this AppLimits cannot be set on many games, such as Roblox. Making this app useless to me. It is impossible to reach out to anyone. They charged my account two days early, preventing me from being able to cancel before they renewed for an additional year. Here is the scam: They auto renew and the only way you can stop the renewal is to close the account which will cause you to forfeit the remainder of your subscription period. And apparently, they do this a few days early to prevent people from being able to close their account before the renewal. They will try to say that you can stop auto renew if you log into their website but that is not true. There is NO ability to stop the auto renew within the website or the app. There is NO phone number on the website. When you attempt to get help you are put into this circular nonsense of the FAQ section. You are then forced to schedule a call that will not take place for several days. Absolutely absurd. REFUND!.Version: 182.17.1

Not RecommendedIt was hacked by a 6 year old 2 days after installing..Version: 182.12.3

Clumsy mechanization, mediocre function, poor supportWe’ve used the “premium” version for about 3 months to manage game use on PCs and iOS devices and the list of problems is long and significant. Largely ineffective at managing game time because their approach to monitoring/tracking/blocking is flawed and cumbersome. Needs to take notes from the iOS parental controls which allows grouping apps in a way that is effective and easy to use. Web monitoring is alright in some areas, but has often and inexplicably blocked sites needed for schoolwork. Reporting function lacks customization so expect to be bombarded with irrelevant emails. Tech support only available by email and been of such limited value I stopped trying to reach them. Overall, not worth the money for paid version and essentially worthless as a free version..Version: 180.16.0

Not goodTerrible - the profile for my son kept getting removed without anyone doing anything, he is on the computer now even though the restrictions are set for 9pm to 8am. It’s before 8am now. And for those people commenting on this app ruining their lives (you kids), the point of this is for you to get outside and experience the real world, get fresh air, enjoy life away from the computer screen. If only the app worked!.Version: 180.14.0

Starts out great and then...I’ve been using this app since late June and overall have been pleased with the features. Easy to use and set up. Time limits and app restrictions have worked well until now. 5 months in and the app is glitching to the point of being worthless. Although the Qustodio app settings on my phone and my daughter’s phone says a specific app is blocked, she has been able to use it freely. All the time limit settings are no longer functioning. I’ve deleted the app, restarted her phone and re-downloaded hoping that a clean slate would solve the problem. Nope. Other aspects of her phone have been effected as well. She can’t connect to the App Store. A few of the games on her phone will no longer load. Her phone is 5 months old as well. She has an iPhone 11 so I know an outdated phone is not the issue. Very frustrating to pay for a year and only get 5 months of usable service. I’m currently shopping for a new parental control app..Version: 180.15.0

Not effective and too complicatedWe bought this to help supervise our children’s MacBooks and IPhones. After setting it up for 2 children and 3 devices it appeared to work for a while. Then we started to notice it was reporting “No Activity” for our son’s device when he was using it to do home work. One of the main purposes we bought this for was to monitor and manage access to Minecraft and other sites. So far it’s been wholly ineffective in preventing access and having been through the Help resources I’ve reached a point where I don’t know what setting is what or why sites that I believe I’ve blocked are still accessible. All in all a waste of time trying to get this App to function..Version: 180.9.0

Removed free time of day restrictionThe most useful FREE combo of this app WAS time limit (how long kids can use) along with what time of day can use. Used to only allow kids from 10am to 10pm for up to 3 hrs a day. Now this company removed the specific time setting and only do time limit for free version. So my kid decide to use some of the screen time at or after midnight. Garbage app now. Don’t waste your time on it.Version: 182.21.0

Great features but not workingMy son managed to deactivate qustodio after a couple of days of using it. Yesterday he was using the computer long after his screen time was over and qustodio showed no activity. Today he’s been all morning on the pc and qustodio shows no activity. I find the app easy to install, user friendly and I like the features but at the moment it is totally useless. If you can fix it I will stay as a customer otherwise I would like a refund and I’ll try another app that is hopefully not so easily deactivated..Version: 180.11.0

The frustrations outweigh the featuresWe did some research about parent control apps and Qustodio came highly rated. We have the paid version and it does some things ok. However, the interface is not the most user-friendly. But that pales in comparison to another issue that is absolutely maddening to both my children and myself: with IOS, there is an option to have apps hidden when scheduled downtime or time limits are reached. Sounds nice. Yet, only some apps get hidden. BUT - they don’t reappear after the scheduled downtime. I have to manually go in and turn off that setting. And it gets better. My children are required to sign back into the apps, retrain Siri, etc. Every. Single. Day. For some reason, Qustodio messes them up in this way and it is unbearable. Plus, as I mentioned, some apps are not even hidden. The children can keep texting till kingdom come. Have to have them physically check in their devices. My research into parent control apps will have to continue….Version: 182.19.3

Does not work!Don’t waste a penny on this app! It does not work! Takes about 3 seconds to bypass, and from that moment it doesn’t work. Stops reporting until the phone is restarted or the app reinstalled. The bypass method is so simple, my 5 years old could figure it out on his own. Even without that, after a while, the app stops reporting anyway. Useless, can’t wait for my subscription to finish..Version: 181.20.1

Terrible appLiterally the worst app. It won’t EVER let me connect to wifi cause of the freaking VPN it’s so touchy, and whenever I try to go on a well known clothing website it says “ this sight is hidden to protect your self online “ WHAT??? ONCE I SEARCHED UP “ best veggies for rabbits” AND IT SAID THAT AGAIN WHAT THE Fu** ?!.Version: 180.11.0

Not working and the team is slow to respondIt just stopped working and already did that back in March but this time the tech team is not even responding to either of us in regards to this issue. We have followed what they told us and did the safe mode and still can not get it to install and uninstall properly and they are not even helping. Don’t get it this is the second time if’s happened to us and a waste of money..Version: 182.17.1

Terrible for IOSA complete waste of £90 😔 The only way this app seems to work is if I put it on lock device but then it hides all apps and they reappear in alphabetical order out of any folders etc and by doing that it removes all apps including face time and doesn’t allow any customisation like Apple Screen Time does to allow parents to be contacted out of hours for example. When I set a limit without doing lock device it allows my daughter to keep using it anyway although it says she’s reached her limit… it tells me she’s used it for 3 hours even though her limit was 1,5 hours. I’ve given it a chance for 2 weeks but enough is enough. If it doesn’t work properly for IOS they shouldn’t advertise it as being suitable….Version: 182.17.1

Useless$50.... and it turns out the child can simply turn it off by removing the remote management link in their settings, such that it disables parents monitoring. Within 5 minutes , I had a “tamper alert” which is basically a way of Qustodio admitting the product isn’t working. I’ve since seen the Developer Response. What use is that to me? I want a refund. Sell me the product when it is working , not while it is still work in progress..Version: 181.27.1

Only works intermittently.Good app when it works. It will only connect to my son’s laptop intermittently. Have uninstalled and reinstalled repeatedly and it works for a day or so then stops..Version: 182.17.1

Not sure how the rating is a 4…Initially it seemed like this app offered a great value and provided control for my son to safely use his phone. We have regular discussions about what is appropriate to search for on his device (s). We assumed that Qustodio would provide a “safer” environment for him to use his phone for school and for fun. It provides updates, though it’s obvious that it isn’t difficult to do simple workarounds for restrictions to get to content that should very obviously be restricted. I’ve concluded that the app is actually dangerous as it left me to believe that it would provide control or restriction to certain content. I’m giving it another week, but I have now removed all ability to use a search engine, and that doesn’t seem like it helps to provide that control we were looking for. It seems like it may be a case of “you get what you pay for.”.Version: 182.1.3

Dumb stupid appI hate this app so bad even though I’m a kid say my parents set the time for two hours it feels like five minutes. Screw this up.👎😡🤬.Version: 182.19.3

Woeful on MacsBought the premium version to try and control our sons MacBook but it’s really missing the mark. Reinstalling every week as it won’t update the timeline. Timeline when updated has incorrect timing so hard to know what’s been going on. Sometimes the schedules blocking works and sometimes not. Takes ages to sync between providing permission and updates to his computer. I’m at the end of my patience and will look to uninstall this app for something else. It works ok on Windows based PC..Version: 182.17.1

Stay away from this company.I have never written a review before, but I can’t let other people deal with this company if I can help it. After months of fighting with the app on my child’s computer and phone, I cancelled the service. I had dealt with their tech support and most of the time the answer was “uninstall and reinstall” which is not the best answer when I’m away on business and my child needs the computer to work without having to give him my password, or he needs to call either me or my wife, but his phone is locked when it shouldn’t be. Again, I cancelled the service a few months ago- it must have registered on some level at the company since after I cancelled, my user name and password no longer worked on the site, so imagine my surprise when I get an invoice and pending charge to my credit card today. The second that charge posts, I’m issuing a chargeback..Version: 180.16.0

Not worth it - not compatible with my devicesI had this installed on an HP desktop running windows 10 and a Dell laptop also on Windows 10. The app monitored accounts it was not authorized to protect and after submitting requests for help my issues were not resolved. We also purchased a chrome book but due to the kids’ Chrome accounts not having access to the play store I wasn’t able to download the app to their user accounts..Version: 181.27.1

FeaturesNot enough features and is basically useless. Not worth money and it’s a bad app. Do not recommend..Version: 181.31.0

Willing to change from 1 star to 5 starsI gave Qustodio one star for the simple reason that you don’t provide a Mac m1 or Mac m2 version for the app. That’s incredibly lazy and quite pathetic. This chip architecture has been on the market now for WELL OVER a year and a half. Not only that but I know for a fact that all companies who develop apps that are placed in the App Store are given ample warning of the new chip architecture and that ample warning is provided to you quite heavily in advance so that you can then have adequate time to design the software accordingly. So if you’re not providing an option for users in this area it’s not coming across as if you can’t but more so that you can’t be bothered. Despite the obvious fact that there is enormous demand for this kind of software. Qustodio is clearly the top tier software globally for this specific area hence why I bought your top package and had it installed on both my children’s laptops phones. However due to your lazy ineptitude I can’t install Qustodio on either of the Mac desktops or either of their MacBooks. This inexcusable and a poor excuse for service. A pathetic failure of the highest order. Why did I pay top dollar for your top package if your software is not compatible with ANY of apples new hardware. Get it together. Get off your arses and start delivering service worthy of the money you charge customers..Version: 182.17.1

Response time slowWhen changing permissions or adding time to a device it can take up to 15 min. For it to change. We don’t have patience for that..Version: 182.14.2

USELESS!!This app has been absolutely useless! What a waste of $149. The app was installed on 3 devices all of which were constantly overridden by the child. What’s the point of paying that kind of money with no assurance that rules and timers will work. Please don’t buy this app. You’ll be wasting your time and money..Version: 182.18.2

Couldn’t unlock phoneUsed this for my daughter. After a few months it malfunctioned and permanently locked the phone. Have not been able to use the phone again. No refund, no support. Will never use this app again.Version: 182.18.2

GarbageThe app worked for about a day. I verified that it was still installed on my son’s computer and that I had the screen time settings in place. By the second or third day, the app was still reporting on his activity and the time spent on each app, but it totaled 5.6 hours - when I had the screen time setting limited to 1.5 hours per day. Also, I’m in the other room right now while my son has been on his computer for the past hour and the screen time in the app shows 0 hours for today. Screen time is supposed to be part of the free app, so no way will I pay to upgrade to the premium version without confidence that the app functions properly. Time to check out other apps that actually work..Version: 182.14.2

I want freedomI WANT FREEDOM I WANT TO MOVE OUT ALREADY. i have to have this app till i move out too and im tired of it. i absolutely hate this makes me go crazy. whoever made this app is out of their minds.Version: 182.14.1

Didn’t love itWe utilized this only for a few weeks. When I would check on my child’s activity, it would say that he had been using the “Skype for iPhone” app for hours yet when I checked my child’s device, this app was not downloaded or even available on the App Store to download, as it was an old version. Also, I did not have internet controls turned on yet I noticed that some websites would be harder to access than normal. As soon as we deleted Qustudio, this problem went away. Not satisfied with the service and wouldn’t recommend since even the “activity log” isn’t accurate and displays apps that are not even downloaded..Version: 182.8.3

Button failureWhen I wanted to add a child and edit his information,I’d never clicked the button “next” at the bottom of the page. Big bug and frustrated!.Version: 181.28.3

Rubbish! So excited after reading reviews to have this to help me limit my child’s screen time. but sadly it doesn’t work - it’s very unstable and therefore isn’t useful. Devices you’ve connected mysteriously disappear. My daughter is on her phone now which is showing as a connected device but ‘offline’ which isn’t true! Honestly so disappointed ...Version: 180.10.0

Not working correctlyMy children can go over screen time and blocking doesn’t work can still use safari on I phone and I have no location information whatsoever, the trial worked fine so purchased premium but a complete waste of money, I’ve tried reinstalling but just the same.Version: 180.11.0

Very difficult to useIn concept it’s great. But the limits are hit and miss to turn off and frustrate both myself and the children. App needs lots of work!.Version: 182.19.3

If you are a parent please listen to me..I am a 15 year old girl and I do consider my parents to be strict but I do love them. I get that you want to protect your kid and have control over them but I promise this is not the way. Ever since I downloaded the app I always fight with my parents and try to make them understand that I am responsible enough to leave my phone and can handle myself, I just feel preassured all the time because I always have to have an excuse to why I cant answer my friends and why my wifi doesn’t work but I’m so tired of it, I have lost my mind and I love my dad so much but I hate it that I have no privacy anymore and I have told him I hate him and have had the worst arguments over this. All I asked him was to trust me or try and make it work for a week without the app so he could see that I wouldn’t spend that much time on the phone. I have cried so much ever since that app got into the way of our relationship and yes, I do understand but instead of taking your child’s privacy away try talking to them and making sure that they understand that they shouldn’t spend too much time on the phone and making sure they know you love them but I promise this is not the way all it will do is cause fights and since my dad doesn’t want to hear me maybe some parent will and might understand their child for once..Version: 181.31.0

App continues to block web browsingWe have been using the paid Qustodio for IOS app for over 6months and have been extremely disappointed. The app continues to block any internet access. We have logged help desk issues, however the resolved offered have no fixed the problem. Including reinstalling the the app on both phones, moving to a more Apple friendly Qustodio VPN service, updating the app with a fix for IPV6 protocol. We are still getting the same results. Very frustrating to pay an annual subscription for an App that doe now seem to work with IOS in Australia..Version: 182.4.0

Constantly goes rogue; extremely frustratingWe’ve had this app for over a year installed on our son’s devices. At first it was okay but soon it began to go rogue. Even if all permissions are enabled, for example, it still won’t give our son access to G rated YouTube videos that he needed to see for his school. For example, the app blocked a video teaching the capitals of the provinces and territories of Canada via song. I had to completely uninstall it the other day so that my son — even with the app turned OFF for his device — could access a microbit coding class that uses live YouTube videos to teach. It’s a frustrating waste of money if your child is to have any autonomy at all or wants to see specific things. I won’t be reinstalling it or renewing the subscription..Version: 182.20.0

HopelessMy 12 year old disabled the PC and iPad versions in minutes. Absolutely useless.Version: 181.31.0

Serious iOS problemsI have the premium version and once the limit is reached on the iPad the problems start. Each time it goes into Lost mode meaning I have to re-enter my Apple ID password and jump through several hoops. Quite often I lose all functionality and have to remove the controls entirely. Other times I need to restart the iPad in order to be able to use apps. The technical support logged this but cannot help for now. Not what I paid for 🥵.Version: 182.10.3

Not worth itThe platform appears polished, but it is super buggy. The main control panel misses the majority of activity on the phone. When something is blocked on the monitored device, you go to the control panel to unblock. However, the activity is missing, so you are left with no way of unblocking legitimate activity. The troubleshooting options are non existent and it is just a frustrating experience..Version: 180.14.0

WorthlessI’m So bummed I spent so much money on this. The time limit works on my kids phone but the iPad doesn’t work even though I added it as a device. Navigating the controls is too simple and doesn’t easily allow you to understand which app is being controlled or has the time limit. I have no idea how to add a time limit to her iPad in addition to her phone. Since I’ve added this app she is unable to use her phone data even though she has available time. It essentially makes her free internet data useless which stinks because I’m paying for that. There’s no way to specify what things she can access and not access on a particular app. If I want to allow her to see videos in Instagram, I can’t do that. The biggest, fattest, dumbest issue is that THERES NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!! No “contact us” in the app. Like, you buy it, they laugh and take your money and run. Creators: make the app more user friendly to navigate and integrate other devices. Also, add some dang customer service!! 😠.Version: 180.5.1

Very helpfulWe have used this app for over 2 years. For the most part it has been a very helpful tool when it comes to keeping our kiddos accountable for their screen usage and for blocking unwanted temptations and trolling. We use it along with Screen time on their iphones and as the main monitoring software on their microsoft laptops. I know others have commented that it doesn’t work with Screen time, but we found that if you set allow on each ios app inside of Qustodio, screen time does it’s job on the iphone well. We use it on iphone to keep track of the total time they’ve been on a screen throughout the day. We have 2 major complaints with Qustodio. First, the time zones are not correct. So if you use the restricted times on your devices every thing gets thrown off by an hour. Example, they have PT at 8:00 with MnT at 7:00. We live in Colorado and these times should be switched. Second, their calls and messaging monitoring only works sometimes. You have to us it from a laptop or desktop and you have to leave your computer on all the time. If you shut it down or close your MacBook you lose the connection and have to reset everything in order to start monitoring again. At the moment the program is turning itself on and off by itself on my macbook, so am trying to completely delete it..Version: 182.19.2

RubbishAbsolute waste of money, the location doesnt show most of the time and when it does its never accurate and says random locations even when my child was with me allday was telling me shes somewhere else 🤬🤬 so you can imagine the drama this causes. Another thing is kids can just delete the app as easy as 123 so anytime they feel the need the can delete it or play with settings to stop yhe app working tidy, cant control calls or txt which is pretty pointless, complete waste of money i would not recommend this one bit, if i could give zero i would but sadly 1 is the lowest.Version: 182.19.3

Took minutes for my child to hackI’ve tried to contact Qustudio however that’s not easy. Therefore I’m leaving a review here. I researched about 5 different Control apps, looking for one that would mange time limits at an app level eg Roblox. Qustudio(or however you spell it) seemed to be the best available to provide this function, along with all the other reporting and moderation features. So, I paid the premium version and thought this would be the intervention we needed. My son worked out the hack within minutes - we set his screen time so he couldn’t play before 7.30am. He didn’t like this, so he turned the WiFi off, then back on, and this SIMPLE interruption was enough to bypass the screen time entirely. I want my money back but I can’t even contact the company! Don’t by, my experience is rubbish..Version: 182.1.3

Didn’t notify me when my son used an app for the first time and none of the blocking features work. Both have new iPhones, another parents app that doesn’t work.Version: 181.18.0

ScamI paid 83 Australian dollars for a premium subscription for my wife’s email address via the Apple Store. My wife then invited me as an extra parent to manage my kids activity. So - because I didn’t buy a second premium subscription for myself to manage the same children, here is what Qustodio did: - blocked my account - deactivated monitoring on both my kids - blocked my ability to log a support ticket because I am not a premium subscriber I should have bought net nanny, buyer beware. Qustodio is a scam..Version: 182.12.3

Not compatible with iOSTerrible experience. Paid a fortune for the app and it is buggy. Very buggy. Despite turning off all restrictions the kids were still getting told their internet time was finished for the day on the first pick up of the day. Many apps of particular interest (like messenger for kids) are not monitored or controlled. I just don’t think the apple ecosystem allows for this app. Has huge potential but is not fit for sale. Do not recommend..Version: 182.10.3

A lot of issuesI downloaded the app onto my phone and also onto my sons computer. My sons computer would turn off and be unable to turn back on again periodically even when the Qustodio app on my phone had given him access to his computer. We’ve now deleted the app and will do the same on the computer once we can turn it back on.Version: 180.9.0

Facebook MessengerApp seems OK I just installed it but I cannot block FB messenger as It won’t appear on the apps used. Why is that? Are there other apps this won’t block or even show they are using? It doesn’t work for Messenger blocking. I’m concerned there could be other app this can’t detect..Version: 180.5.1

Too many issuesI’ve been using the app for a while now. It’s so frustrating things constantly don’t work with it. I’ve been in touch with support for what seems like weeks and once again I’ve just discovered a new fault of a blank white screen with a spinning green circle. I won’t be renewing my subscription in fact would love a refund for all the annoyance this app has given me.Version: 182.4.0

I can’t add kids deviceI have just subscribed to the service, the app doesn’t allow me to add a child device using the kids app. Very disappointed in this app and would like to cancel the subscription..Version: 182.4.0

Inaccurate daily app reporting and no customer service responseThis is the first time I’ve ever written an app review, but I feel compelled to share our experience with the app. We bought the premium service to be able to track and control our 12 year old son’s app use on his iPhone. On a daily basis the activity report shows Facebook use, but his phone does not have Facebook downloaded. He is also required to do 20 minutes of French each day using an app called Duolingo. I sometimes time him when he studies French using the app. The amount of time he uses Duolingo is under-reported by more than 50% on a daily basis. There is no way to contact their customer support by phone or even a chat service that some companies use. Instead, you can only send an email. I have sent an email and never received a reply. I also filled out a questionnaire they emailed me and provided them with information about the issues. I never received a reply. The service is not reliable or accurate based on its falsely reporting daily use of an app he doesn’t have, substantially under-reporting use of an educational app he uses on a daily basis and no response from the company when I’ve reported these issues..Version: 180.16.0

Can only set user times in 1 hour blocksThis app is ok, but you can only set restricted times in 1 hour increments, which is too long for a child who may only have a short amount of time you wish to set restrictions for. I’d suggest upgrading this setting to allow 15 minute blocks or 30 minutes at least..Version: 182.7.1

Didn’t do anything we wanted it toHad Qustodio installed for a few months, some observations: -kids would not be able to access certain apps and games with the VPN on, which made it pointless. Roblox in specific. -buttons on the apps were glitchy. Like had to hit a button ten times for it to work. -random moments where the ‘daily time’ allotment was up but kids were able to still play and/or text with friends Specifically, this app did not do what we wanted it to do and was not reliable enough. We’ve on to a better app..Version: 182.1.3

Worked for a little whileThis program works for a little while and then it stops working every computer you have to reload it constantly onto the computer for it to work. it is a total waste of time and dangerous as it leaves your children exposed without you knowing..Version: 181.29.0

DisappointedVery easy to use, however there is no link to customer support in the app, location has stopped working, often slow to update, not all adult content successfully blocked. Child accessing websites that aren’t reported in the list. So all in all not as helpful as I’d hoped..Version: 180.5.1

Waste of moneyReally disappointed with this app and company. I’m from Australia and when I looked at different plans and pricing I chose the ‘small plan’ at $54.95/ year. When I looked at my credit card statement I was charged $80.20. When I contacted Qustodio I was told that the $54.95 is US dollars. Nowhere during the whole process did it state that it was US dollars. What a deceitful company. I’ll be asking for a refund. I would’ve kept the app if it didn’t slow down internet speed on my daughters phone, amongst other annoying things. I really should’ve looked at these reviews first..Version: 182.7.1

Cannot control PC activity properlyWhile it has proven pretty good (albeit in a limited way) for phones, it does not control PC gaming well; my son can keep on playing with his PC games even though his time is shown ‘Up’ in the parental app and his ongoing game activity is also shown. This is a major fault..Version: 180.5.1

Ugh—does not work on IOS properly.Son has already disabled this. I’ve paid over 60 quid for this software and he can disable it by removing the installed profile. Doesn’t limit WhatsApp. Have asked for a refund. No reply. Got a patronising email saying the app had been disabled and perhaps it was time for me to have “a conversation” with my child about screen time..Version: 182.21.0

Not as advertisedWe needed an easy solution to block the internet on command from another device, so this was one of the best options I could find, however… things slowly got worse. 😐 3 day free trial (not bad, not good) 🥲 Semi-Complicated setup including installing VPN settings (meh) on a Childs already heavily locked device. 🫢Once installed, panic button was 🌟only if child has Android🌟 (no function for me, not good) 😡Pause Wi-Fi button pressed, set no wifi for one minute… and it just locks the Childs device and says “Device Lost” and says it will come back online after the timer is up (hard fail)✌️ 🤬Uninstalling everything is a pain 🫥 Do yourself a favor Buy a router with family device controls built in and make sure the hardware some with a companion app..Version: 182.20.0

Only got 1 star because I can’t give it 0It doesn’t work with the kids phones which are Huawei. They are sitting next to me on line while the app says “ No activity”. Seems fine if all devices are apple, or all are google, but if you have both and then add in Huawei then it’s no use..Version: 181.31.0

Over hyped, not worth the Money.I chose this app because it had good reviews and because it was one of the few that claimed to show calls and text messages. I was disappointed to find that after you setup the txt/call feature (which is separate from the app itself), that it constantly fails to update. Not only that, but it does not reveal the contact of the person in communication with my child, just has the phone number and you have to do your own detective work to find out who it is. As if that wasn’t bad enough…. My child figured out pretty quickly that you can disable the app in the settings. It does let you know if that happens, but you end up having to reinstall the entire thing all over again just to make it work again. It’s a total pain. Personally, I regret paying for this app. If I hadn’t already paid, I would switch immediately..Version: 182.10.2

Terrible app….simply doesn’t work!I bought this app on the advice of a friend. What a massive waste of money! The time restrictions do not work and you cannot set time limits for groups of apps i.e. 30 minutes on games. You have to set the time limits per app or per website. Today I set the device to 0 minutes and found both my kids on their devices. It’s absolutely pointless! The only good thing I can say about it is that you can see exactly what the kids are doing and can see what they are searching for etc which has opened up some good conversations about internet safety but don’t use it to limit screen time. I’ve requested my money back but doubt I’ll see it so I’ll just wave goodbye to that £50! Don’t use it, stick to Apple family and Microsoft Family or McAfee Safari that all come free with your other accounts. You don’t need this..Version: 182.10.3

Good in theory, poor in executionWith the caveat that we’ve only had this a few days, I’ve seen some significant gaps in Qustodio’s functioning. First, the idea that this can be an “invisible” installation on a computer is patently false. Yes, it won’t show up on the desktop, but it shows up in a simple search or scrolling the “uninstall apps” list. My kid found it within 30 seconds of the first time he got on his computer and immediately uninstalled it. Secondly, the parents app has limited functionality compared to what you get by logging in on the desktop. For example, you can’t adjust the off times from the app, if your kid needs to stay on late to finish homework, for example. Third, and this is my pet peeve with most of these type of apps: there’s no “kill switch.” I want a big button that lets me immediately lock out access to the monitored device, without having to go through menus, adjust time limits or off times, or whatever. Just immediately (and temporarily) lock it out and eventually re-enable it without having to change settings back. Is that so hard? Given that a year of this costs $50, I’ll give it some more time to see if it gets better, but otherwise I’m looking elsewhere....Version: 180.11.0

It’s Not worth.Kids bypass Qustudio easily, waist of money. I have cancelled the subscription but Qustudio still charged me for yearly subscription..Version: 182.18.2

Very glitchyApp seems to change settings back to a default every day allowing the play store to be accessed. I need to manually go into the device daily to turn it off again. My son finds ways to get around this app too. It’s very glitchy. I wouldn’t waste the money to pay for a subscription again..Version: 182.7.1

Not amazingMy daughter can keep the apps open and even though time is over because she hasn’t exited out of an app she can stay on it for hours after time is up! Also if she has run out of time and gets sent a message notification either on Snapchat, messenger or Instagram she can just swipe down and just push reply..Version: 182.12.3

Laughable took 5 minutes to bypass13 years boy disabled, removed app permanently in less than 5 minutes. Regardless of the premium you pay this app is for those who think its relevant. Of course you should install it as super user but he could run new sys off a pen drive. This app is a joke. Good job.Version: 182.14.2

Unexplained inoperabilityI purchased the Family premium option and I confess it has been a nightmare. The App alternates between blocking everything one day (forcing me to switch off the restrictions so that my kid can attend online school) and then blocking nothing the next day (of course after turning the restrictions back on again and restarting the PC). I ‘repair’ the app almost every day but the problem returns almost immediately. The online help suggested that I insert a .exe file to monitor the problem, but it was not possible to insert that file. Since then I have heard nothing from them. The app repeatedly tells me that my son has registered no activity despite me knowing that he has. The strange thing is that the app seems to function ok on my daughter’s laptop. The only good thing that has emerged from this is that I had so many conversations with my son about it - and he got so fed up with it all too - that we ended up having grown-up conversations about it and he now times himself and self-censors. So in a way a positive outcome. I will uninstall the app and find something else, whether they give me my money back or not..Version: 181.23.0

Don’t buyDoesn’t work and they inundate you with emails to join them.Version: 180.2.4

Not very useful for iOS but good for Mac and WindowsHave installed this app on both my son’s devices and all he has to do is to remove the VPN and the profile and then the phone is not blocked. I am now only able to track location. The reason he removed it was because he could not access sites I allowed. I am more reliant on the iOS screen time. The Qustodio solution does work well for Mac and Windows PC. It does not control all websites though but does seem to respect more of the settings. My son has not been able to remove this. I have submitted a request to resolve an issue on the parent app when adding additional time as the confirm button is too low on the screen and does not always work. No response receive to this request..Version: 181.27.1

Works ok but could use improvementThis app blocks devices based on a schedule or time limit. However there is no quick and easy way to over ride it. Often my kids need a few extra minutes to finish up and it takes a lot if clicking to do that. It would be nice to have quick action for this. My kids also found a workaround by disabling the wifi before the end of the schedule time. This disconnects the internet but allows for offline use of all the apps. Lastly, I still haven’t figured out how to disable the email alerts which is annoying because I’m inundated by them daily. All that said, it’s still one of the best parental control apps that I’ve found..Version: 182.21.0

Horrible software - only use if you have nothing better to do with your timeIf you want to spend hours of your time uninstalling and reinstalling this on your many devices go ahead and buy it. My many issues: 1. There’s no phone support. 2. Every answer to every question is uninstall and reinstall. My kid has 4 devices. That’s well over an hour every time I’ve done this and I’ve done it at least a half dozen times in a vain effort to get it to work. 3. There was not a single day in 6 months that every device was reporting things. 4. Time limits ALSO apply to you when you get in the device to try to “fix” it so have fun trying to do anything at 11pm when you finally have time to work on this when your kid has already exhausted their time on the device. 5. Takes forever for the app to realize you’ve changed policies which makes #4 even worse. 6. You have to turn off all of the controls or completely remove your child’s profile to try to fix things. Have fun setting everything up over and over again. 7. No way to see activity per device. You have to setup separate profiles with just that device and recreate all the rules you want to apply to that child on the new device. I only tried using this on Windows and iOS..Version: 181.20.1

All or nothingNo way to white list apps you want to still have enabled when limits are reached - for example allowing music or podcasts to go to sleep to..Version: 182.17.1

Too easy to breakThe schools block VPNs so it has to be shut off before they take their devices to school. In spite of assurances they can't shut off the controls themselves, all of my kids found ways to turn off the VPN themselves on their devices. And I never received alerts when they did, so it was as much work to monitor that as it was to track where their devices were manually..Version: 180.16.0

Not great for such an expensive appTwo problems with this app which makes it not worth the money…. Firstly there appears to be no way to selectively block functions. So, I can’t, for example, block web access on a phone but allow phone calls. This is, in my opinion, a really basic requirement. I’ve tweeted Qustodio a couple of times as I initially assumed it must be me simply not finding the right option, but no reply. Secondly and of more concern… it took my son a matter of weeks to work out that all he needed to do was open an incognito window during his ‘allowed’ time, and that this would still be available to browse whatever he wanted, despite Qustodio ‘blocking’ his chrome book rendering the app essentially useless. Really disappointing for the price..Version: 180.5.1

Drains battery on kid’s phoneMy son’s phone needed constant charging since the app was installed. I thought the battery had problem and took it to Apple Store. They said the VPN constantly interrupt their diagnosis program and other apps which causes high battery usage. The high battery usages is not just from the app itself and also from other apps trying to re-run itself while being interrupted. The reporting of activity is a bit confusing too. I have decided to disable the app before the subscription runs out..Version: 182.18.2

Counterintuitive and unreliableI really liked the idea of monitoring both my kid's computer and phone. But this software is completely messed up and does not make any sense for the real world. 1. No easy way to block child's devices instantly. Can only block internet. Blocking particular apps or the device altogether requires complicated setup of routines. 2. Routines do not count towards screen time. My kid had two hours of entertainment, then I disabled it - and now his screen time is zero, as if he did not use his devices at all today. 3. I cannot reliably enable internet on the kid's device, it can still redirect to google or prevent usage of the browser for a long time after enabling the internet. 4. I cannot block access to every website but leave some particular ones when I set up the routine. I can only choose *categories* of websites, not the individual websites. So essentially I cannot set it up for my kid to stay focused on the online class and block youtube, discord or other distractions. Useless, unfortunately, will need a refund..Version: 182.21.0

So much potentialOur daughter went off to boarding school, and this seemed to tick all the boxes: it could be controlled and extra time added remotely, and it enabled screen time and time of day settings to be applied. Unfortunately, we found that it glitched regularly, to the point that it prevented access to her mobile phone data, or her various apps, even when restrictions weren’t in force. We eventually gave up and reverted to the Apple parental settings..Version: 182.12.3

Useless in Queensland, AustraliaA rank waste of money. The child’s app has to be removed from the child’s device as the school app won’t work if the Qustodio app is on the device..Version: 182.12.3

Not that greatA lot of games, etc can’t be controlled by the app, or when new versions of an game app come out, all of a sudden you lose the ability to control it. Also when you enable certain apps or browsers on an apple device, it takes way to long for qustodio to update on the child’s device. I have had my kid miss the first few minutes of online classroom time because qustodio won’t let him into an app like zoom. Customer service is non existent, no number to call, and they take 1-2 days to get back to you when you are having trouble, and almost always with a canned response that provides you zero help. I would look to other applications first before paying for this one.Version: 181.23.0

Easily circumventedThis software for iOS can be turned off by any child by turning off the VPN using “connect on demand”. If you use this, your kids are laughing at you..Version: 182.1.3

Resets my settings! We’ve had this a while, and I’ve only recently realised that it doesn’t matter what restrictions I enter, they all get reset regularly, and quite randomly too. My daily time limits change, web site categories get allowed when I’ve blocked them, as do individual websites. So basically it’s not doing it’s job, and is not parent-friendly. Don’t get this one… try something else!.Version: 182.14.1

DisappointedI would like someone to call me to discuss the faults with this app that I paid $100 for. Ph0402350053 Mary.Version: 182.18.2

Made phone unusableThe app was working fine for over a year. My daughters phone did a software update last night and now gets a pop-up saying to allow permissions for the app. When you click the allow button it takes you to a window in the phone settings you can’t do anything from. When you attempt to navigate to the place in the phone settings you need, doesn’t matter because the pop up comes back every 15 seconds and takes you back to where you don’t need to be. At the time my daughters phone is unusable and when you contact support they say they will get back to you in 1 to 2 business days. I’m attempting to uninstall the app, but again, every 15 seconds the pop up comes back. So, I have an unusable phone, I can’t navigate to address the issue, and it might be 1 to 2 business days before I might get some help..Version: 182.20.0

Feels like a waste of money…Selected this app with great expectations and every now and again my 13yr old gets around blocks. Right now I have Netflix blocked 100% apps and website and qustodio faithfully reports he watched almost 4 hours today… Not worth the money… it is just a false sense of security..Version: 182.4.0

Use screen time insteadIt is unfortunate that the recommended Kids App did not function properly on my daughter’s phone. It somehow deleted her apps after randomly giving us a lost iPhone screen. We had to delete the app to get her apps back. Screen time works way better for iPhones. With regard to monitoring her Windows activity, it has been good. However the Parents App is buggy just as the Kids App. When trying to make changes to her restrictions, the lag is so terrible. The iPad app worked well, the iPhone version, nada. So we’re paying for a software that only works well on her Windows laptop and our iPad. I hop this company can get it together and make things more convenient for their customers. I like them because their features are better than the other parental control apps. But we pay too much for it to only work on Windows and erase phones and what not. Looking for another parental control app for our child’s phone, but in the meantime, the Screen Time functionality that comes with iOS seems to be doing the better job..Version: 181.18.0

Doesn’t workWe set limits and block apps and then he can’t use the internet for school work. It doesn’t work and I’ve updated it many times..Version: 182.9.0

Disappointing and dishonestI had this program on my son’s phone and our family computer. It was fine until I had to turn Qustodio off on my son’s phone because it would block him from opening or uploading work to Schoology, which is the school’s online platform for communicating and submitting work. Per the school district’s instructions I had to shut Qustodio off my son’s phone so he could access his school work!!! At that point, Qustodio became useless for us. The time for renewal came. I did not receive an email about the renewal and yet, almost $100 ($96) were taken out of my account by Qustodio. I’ve emailed them several times -YOU CANNOT FIND A PHONE NUMBER ANYWHERE ONLINE- and they have ignored my emails and my requests for a refund. To add to the aggravation, PayPal just charged me an extra $2.91 for Qustodio’s “international transaction”. Stay away from this shady company! As I said, my emails requesting a refund have been unanswered and there is no customer service phone number to call!.Version: 182.8.3

Devs read thisWhoever made this app, you better keep ur doors locked and count ur days coz I’m coming for u.Version: 180.11.0

Overpriced and easily circumventedI have no issue with the price for something of quality; I'd rather pay more, once, than a cheap price several times. Everything I read gave me the impression it would be quality and it seemed super intuitive. My wife and I wanted something that would let us block certain categories of apps, set usage limits and time frames, and also be able to add time if needed or unlock for a full day. When setting up, we locked everything down to maximum and planned to start backing off as we wrapped our heads around it. The first annoyance is that changed the entire app organisation and folders when in “no time allowed” mode. For what possible reason is that necessary? The next was that the “times up” message displayed as “Lost iPad,” and yes it had another line with the “times up until…” message, but why have the iPad lost message at all? Which leads me to the next annoyance. The time limit was reached and my 6yo figured out that by typing in the screen lock code, she could simply search for the app she wanted and keep using it; completely negating the point of the time limit settings. The “how to uninstall” page is also out of date and none of the screenshots matched what I could actually see. There was also nothing on the page about uninstalling the sideloading component; so I have to assume it has been uninstalled because I can't see the relevant tab in the settings app. From a marketing perspective, there was no drip-feed campaign about ensuring it was set up properly, with links to an FAQ, or even just the help centre; which, as someone in the sales space, is just lazy and not taking advantage of a warm lead is poor sales strategy. Overall, it's overpriced, easily circumvented, and genuinely the most disappointed I've ever been in an app. Do not recommend it..Version: 182.17.1

Times and freedomOK so the app doesn’t seem that bad butWell the front menu thing you can see apps you know you can see on the tab labeled Disney+ it says 20 minutes now I’m not a professional but are you kidding me itSeems to me that the kid couldn’t even watch a movie let aloneA show episodeCan you seriously enable it so you notified ifYou search up something like chat I feel very sad for that child so in conclusionMaybe let some children have the piece of chat and a movie on Disney+ alsoI made this entire review on word typeAnd I’m not going to waste my precious time reading a review that’s about a paragraph to 2 paragraphs long but I will make one so if you are a parent and reading this maybe don’t like it that you have Disney+ let them watch entire movie and let them have search is like chat and some stuff relatively close left alone also who searches of gambling y’all have a good day.Version: 182.4.0

I can’t set lockout timesThough I can set the number of hours that can be used, I can’t seem to control when they can use it. I have children getting up early in the morning using their stuff … need to control that. I would have thought for the amount that I pay for this service that should be a given!.Version: 182.21.0

Glitchy and time delaysThe app is very glitchy. And there is a massive time delay from when you select a action Eg set time limit and it actually going to the iPad..Version: 182.17.1

Never really worksSpent too much time trying to get this app working. Constantly stops the 4g connection when kids were in their time limits and no restrictions. Complained to help desk and they blamed my set up - tried lots of variation setting but still didn’t work as expected. Don’t buy and save your money..Version: 182.14.1

This app is completely broken on iOS 17We’ve been using this app for three years now, and we’ve seen a steady decrease is control of my son’s iOS device. It finally broke with the upgrade to iOS 17. We used to be able to give him a time limit on Instagram that he could use in that app. Now, no matter what we set the limit to, Qustodio won’t allow him to refresh his feed. The only way to allow Instagram access is to remove Qustodio for a period of time. Games and apps are unevenly blocked, as well. Some games aren’t even reported in the activity feed. The only thing that actually works on this app is the time limits…but they don’t work correctly. Even without any time, my son can surf old content on his social media apps. And this time isn’t shown in the parent app. This is a ridiculous waste of money. Nothing works. And before the developer chimes in, yes, we have reinstalled several times. And rebooted several times. This app is still broken. Bottom line, if you or your child has upgraded to iOS 17, stay away from this app. It doesn’t work..Version: 182.19.1

HorribleUseless app. App activity is all wrong, doesn’t even show most of the apps that are being used. And location is completely inaccurate. Don’t download this useless app, complete waste of money. Fix your app, had it for awhile and it worked okay from the start but everything j went downhill, and now nothing is accurate..Version: 182.4.0

Invasive, cannot delete or stop the messagingI just downloaded this app for 20 minutes and then deleted it. I am being spammed daily by email and through my phone by Qustodio. I cannot seem to get rid of it. I have emailed the help centre multiple times asking them to stop and to remove my details and nothing works. I would NOT recommend this app.Version: 182.20.0

TerribleI installed this and it’s been a nightmare. Blocking apps I haven’t asked if to and now I am trying to uninstall it and I cannot find info on how to do this. My daughter is really fed up with the whole thing. Do not install this as once you do you seem to have no control over it!.Version: 182.2.0

DisappointedWe are a family who all use Apple devices. I’ve tried using this app to manage my teenage daughter’s activities on her iPhone and iPad and am just not getting on with it at all. The standard functionality in Apple’s Screen Time works better than this app and it’s free. I would not recommend this for IOS users..Version: 181.23.0

Do NOT recommmendCustomer service is terrible. The app does not work & never has worked correctly , customer services have been useless. The app does not block correctly & does not give accurate location ( & I have checked this when the child is with me !) They have now taken out the money for another year without my agreement !!!.Version: 182.17.1

App is rubbish.I used to use family zone. They sold to Qustodio. The control in this app is nothing on how Family zone worked. I subscribed thinking it would be similar..Version: 182.18.2

Not a great AppStopped sons phone working even though permissions were granted. Difficult to use, too many bugs..Version: 182.19.1

DisappointingVery disappointed as I paid for the premium product. It continually would not work correctly on my daughter’s phone and when I looked for support from qustodio I was told I had to wait for weeks...I’m sorry but that’s not what I call customer service..Version: 181.23.0

Most unreliable and hard to use app I have ever experiencedQuestudio needs some serious improvement in timing. It usually counts that the device is being used from midnight even when it is powered off.Version: 182.19.3

Hate itWorst app ever, no trust with my parents now. Hate it hate it hate it!!!.Version: 180.5.1

Probleme depuis la majDepuis la maj de novembre, le cell de mon enfant a des problemes avec l’appli TikTok. Problemes resolus si je retire la protection vpn..Version: 180.14.0

App doesn’t work as described and they don’t careI have purchased the package for 5 devices plus support. 1. In order for you to speak with someone (even with the support package) you need to schedule a call via the website. 2. The app was showing screen time usage for 3 of the 4 iPads even when not in use (showing an average of 23:40 per day). 3. When setting restricted times, all it does is shut of the connection to the internet. So the child can still use the iPads even after hours as long as it’s a non-internet game. 4. Most surprising. When restricted time was on, the wifi only iPads were still able to send and receive messages via the native iOS messenger app and via Facebook’s messenger kids app. So your child can stay up all night texting. The solution offers was to reinstall the app (which I did multiple times, even once following reps instructions on the phone). It did not help. Tier 2 had no interest in trying to resolve the problems but rather hinted that I should ask for a refund. Update for the developers: the email address I used for the program is not the same as my iCloud account. I have paid for the upper level support so I spoke with that person. I have emails and screenshots to support what I’ve stated above..Version: 182.9.0

Too many serious flawsThis app is great on paper but not in application. The worst of the issues is that the vpn prevents many apps from working properly, notably Netflix in any country outside of the US. Other issues include the inability to control specific apps (like letting some apps work all the time or educational apps needed for school to work on a different schedule), the fact that it messes with the configuration of your child’s phone every time it comes back online, and the fact that they make finding your account and subscription details very difficult. Customer support does not respond after several attempts after a difficult time finding a way to contact them. All they do is redirect you to their faq page; very frustrating..Version: 180.7.1

App makes device management more difficultYou’re better off just using the out of the box Apple device management give the limitation of what this is able to do on iOS. No sms tracking, makes it extremely difficult to update the os for the devices because the con blocks access to the iOS update server, doesn’t do anything for Mac OS and is unable to understand that webpage ads are not the kid accessing a site. I see pings to Facebook regularly for kids who don’t actually use Facebook but this tracker doesn’t under stand that and seems to lie in the daily stats Much more trouble than it’s worth Also paid for via Apple subscriptions so you need to know where to go to kill it before it reups.Version: 181.29.0

Not working as it shouldEvery day there is a different issue. This is not a set and forget app. We are constantly changing settings, time limits and settings so that the app works smoothly in the background. Customer service is all via email and takes several days to receive a reply..Version: 182.18.2

Not worth the moneyI installed the app on a recommendation from a friend. 5 day fee trial is insufficient to fully assess the functionality, considering its a child using the device, not an adult. Settings need to be worked out with some trial and error. The time restriction controls only allow on/off in 1 hour blocks, which makes little sense. Why not 10, 15 or even 30 min blocks? The lockout at night impacts the app icons on the Home Screen and affects sorting and folders etc. Its frustrating for kids and adults when the icon has moved The content filters are very strict. This might suit some parents or young kids but it blocks many legitimate sites. On a side by side comparison with my phone, there were many instances where I couldn’t see a reason why some sites or videos were being blocked. Finally, the reason I deleted the app and requested a refund, was that I removed all content filters on my child’s phone (as part of the comparison above) and content continued to be blocked. I figured this may have been due to a lag in changed settings, but even after a few days, the same sites/videos were still blocked. I can only assume this is a bug. I have since gone back to the inbuilt Screen Time app in iOS and to be honest it does a sufficient job. I think Qustodio is more suited for children less than 10 but for teenagers I think some controls can be wound back a bit. As such the content filters need to be more customisable and changes in settings need to work.Version: 182.14.1

No good for iOS phonesPurchased a yearly subscription for my child using an iPhone. Within a week, I start getting a tamper message saying that Qustodio is no longer protecting the phone and I cannot alter any setting remotely. I asked why/how this happens and this is the reply I get from Qustodio: Regarding your query, a tech-savvy child can delete Qustodio's MDM profile by going to the VPN option on the iOS device settings. My child is just a “tech savvy” as the next child and there should not be a loophole that a child can turn off the app…. I paid around $70 for the year and only used it for less than a month…Complete waste of money. Not impressed at all…. Find another parental control app that actually works on iOS phones!!.Version: 182.10.3

Doesn’t really do the jobAt first, the app seems to tick all boxes: time management, locks automatically when time is up, location and usage tracking … basically everything parents ask from such an app. After reading reviews and doing a quick benchmark, I decided to go with this app and quickly moved to the Premium feature, what’s a few dozen € when you can get peace of mind … But I forgot that, the reason why I needed such an app was because my kid was getting really creative in finding was to get more screen time. It only took them a couple of days to realise they can bypass time allowance by simply going on flight mode or turning off 4G. I spoke to the Qustodio team who claims that they can’t do anything about it (played the privacy card) but what’s the point of having an app installed on the kid’s device when it can’t communicate with the phone settings which is able to track screen time? This needs to be fixed ASAP, as the very purpose of the app is made obsolete. I got offered to get my money back, but what I really need is this to be fixed..Version: 182.10.3

Need some further work.Although could be better than other parent control apps, this on still needs work to be useful. The web/app control has bugs that blocking for certain website/app doesnt work. For time controlled web browsing, there's no whitelist which now a days kids do homework online. It will also be calculated and I will need to change quota daily to control any leasure web browsing. Anyhow, its missing lots of functions to make it actual work. Not sure if their developer or PM do use this app..Version: 180.5.2

Needing supportGreat easy to use app but a number of my sons downloaded apps aren’t appearing on the list. When we go on his phone it Aus restrictions apply but we haven’t applied these. Can you help?.Version: 181.28.3

Please don’t get thisParents please hear me out: As someone who has been through several depression episodes THIS APP MAKES NOTHING BETTER AND INFACT MAKES EVERYTHING 10X WORSE THAN IT ALREADY IS. My parents already check my phone at night and I don’t mind that. What I hate is this app. It monitors everything I do and say on my phone, and will in fact not make your child better but just sneak things around because they have overprotective parents. What happened to trusting people? I understand if your child has depression or something like that but I promise monitoring them just makes them feel like they aren’t even trustable anymore and they never will be. I am just a teen and have never had kids so if I had a kid struggling I would hear them out about what there struggling with instead of hopping to conclusions and blame the phone and treat them like toddlers because they have a problem completely out of their control. To the parents who just want to keep their kids safe please avoid this app and just go through their device because I promise that you don’t need to know every single message or exactly the amount of time they have been on a app. Let the child have the privacy that they deserve. Thanks for reading.Version: 182.21.0

I hate itI’m moving out at 18.Version: 182.12.3

DisappointingDon’t be mislead into transferring to this app from Family Zone- it is not equivalent, lacks functionality and set up support. Waste of money.Version: 182.17.1

So annoyingWhen i am on my phone a qustodio vpn is on so when i send messages they don’t send and when i try to watch videos the vpn makes it that i don’t have wifi so they don’t load EVEN THO I HAVENT FINISHED MY TIME FOR THE DAY.Version: 182.14.2

All round terribleDowntime needs to be on the hour. 8:30 bed time? Too bad pick 8:00 or 9:00. There is no way to apply a single set of rules to multiple children. So you need to trawl through the horrendous UI and change a dozen things per child. Stops working on PC ALL THE TIME. Screen time total often doesn’t match the graphs. In case you’re wondering why the trial period is so short, I can only assume it’s so you don’t have time to find these and about a dozen other issues..Version: 182.7.1

Stay awayThis app purports to allow monitoring of your child’s activity but requires you to install an app on your child’s phone that they can easily just find and delete. My child found it and deleted it within a few days. The parents app has limited functionality and requires you to log into a desktop or laptop to get the more useful features. Also, you cannot really monitor text messages easily. It gives you an unidentified phone number for whatever contact rather than identifying g them by name as your child would see them in his or her contacts, and forces you to search through hundreds of lines of notifications just to be able to monitor a single conversation with the same contact. This was expensive and useless. I’m asking for a refund..Version: 182.16.0

Not worth itI don’t feel like this has been worth the large sum of money I spent. I liked it as a free tool for one teen but having paid as much as I did you would think it would be more reliable and have more convenience. You can’t specify different time limits for different apps. It was useless for the first 5 months while my kids were in school on their devices because It was all or nothing. I’m regularly having to give my kids extra time because Qustodio says they used all their time but they swear they haven’t used any. I look at their activity to show them and Qustodio shows no activity for the day, as does Screentime, so then I have to just give them more time in all fairness. How does it say they used up all their time but on nothing?! I find it inconvenient when I’d like to encourage them to spend time on educational apps by allowing separate time on that. I find it a huge hassle that if there’s a random odd day where I want to allow them online after our usual rule I have to change the rule completely then set it again instead a simple button to extend their time. It shows me what their search activity is and blocks certain websites I wouldn’t want them on which is good but is that worth 100 something dollars? Not really..Version: 181.31.0

BadAwful. Didn’t block any of the apps I blocked and constantly reset what I put down. Don’t recommend a complete waste of money..Version: 182.14.2

Misleading infoThis app has a lot of issues, here are some: 1- Not all options work on iOS such as tracking of calls and messages. I reached out to them and they said that wouldn’t work unless I have a Mac computer! I said that wasn’t explained on the website and I requested a refund they said sorry too late! Horrible service! They added a note later on the website saying a Mac computer is needed, looks like I wasn’t the only one who complained. 2- Their activity tracking system is not accurate at all. It would show that the device is active and counts screen time while no one is using it. 3- The worst part is that it would show activity on apps that are not event installed!! 4- It wouldn’t show a lot of app and game activity but it would show all the time used ok these apps under “Google Docs”!! It’s a horrible system, not accurate at all. 5- It does not even show all YouTube history, only 5% of the history you can see, you see the rest as an activity that happened at a certain time and the time taken but not possible to see the history. 6- Location tracking never shows any activity records even when it’s on, it only showed some activity in the first few days and then nothing. This app caused a lot of issues between me and my son because I thought he was lying to me about his device usage but it turned out that the app is giving false and inaccurate information. I do not recommend anyone to use it and I really regret paying for a whole year..Version: 182.14.1

Virtually useless for iPhonesMy son can routinely uninstall or turn Qustodio VPN off to visit blocked sites. This app cannot restrict all games on IOS. These inadequacies might be a function of Apple control, but I would have liked a disclaimer on these issues prior to purchasing an annual subscription.Version: 182.17.1

Don’t waste your money and timeConstant issues. Have to reinstall VPN profile several times a day. Still didn’t see device online even it is. Same issue as other customer here asking for refund and got pin ponged between developer and Apple. Not recommended. Very disappointed..Version: 180.5.2

Can’t seem to access it anymoreI hadn’t gone into the app for some time and when I wanted to access it recently, I couldn’t !! I just get the circle of death. What’s going on !?.Version: 182.19.3

Had to remove it and still got chargedThis app created constant issues on my child’s phone and computer so I had to remove it but they won’t refund me because it was purchased through Apple. They said to contact Apple which said to contact the developer! On top of it I got charged 76,99$ instead of the 54,95$ that was advertised, and both Apple and the developer keep telling me to contact the other company. Wow..Version: 180.3.1

More Questions Than AnswersOverall not satisfied with this app as it raises more questions than answers. Today, for instance, there was web activity shown in the parental feed from the child’s device, and now that activity is no longer listed in my feed. Where did it go? How is historical information being erased from the parental app? Also, frequently used apps will suddenly show up as “new” apps being used for the first time, without having been deleted and reinstalled. While this app provides some comfort, it overall raises more questions and concerns than it answers and leaves me unsatisfied..Version: 180.5.1

Stop!Deleted this app yet somehow is still blocking my daughters laptop. She needs extra time to do her homework and Qustodio would not let me in. Deleted it hoping it would solve the problem yet its ghost seems to clinging on to block screen time. I will be re-installing at some point but how on earth does it still work like a virus. She is extremely stressed and upset. Please stop it from working..Version: 182.4.0

Forced purchaseWe downloaded the app for a trial, we had locked the phone locked due to bed time, by the time the trial had ended the phone was still locked forcing us to purchase the app at £49 in order for us to unlock the phone. I use it to locate my child on the way home from school however on many occasions this does not load the location and my son arrives home before updated. There is also no support or help page on the app in order to question or rectify the issue..Version: 180.10.0
