Lox Club for Negative User Reviews

This is not sustainableI’ve never written a review of an app before. I do hope the app’s creators take the criticism to heart because I think it is a cool idea and has potential. As it is right now, the app is essentially a scam. You’re told it’s “exclusive,” that there’s a “long waitlist,” and that only “20%” of applicants are accepted.” This is effective marketing, actually - the aura of “exclusivity” makes you more likely to pay fees once you’re finally “accepted.” It is of course against their interest to deny anyone, because if they “accept” you, you must pay to use it. An app like this is only going to spread through word of mouth among Jewish circles, and I don’t know why anyone would recommend it to a friend right now. It is clearly not just for people with high standards - that becomes evident quickly. They limit the swipes you get then charge you for more (I guess it’s small, but still insane). In a vacuum, the app interface itself is pretty low quality and worse than any other dating app I’ve seen. The only novel feature, the matchmaker, is unresponsive and acts like they don’t want to help. I get that offering a free trial might expose the fallacy of “exclusivity,” but securing people’s short term payments does not outweigh the drawbacks of forcing people to pay for a service that just isn’t worth paying for at all. As it is right now, I don’t see this app lasting very long. Time to get back to the drawing board..Version: 1.1.1

Not worth itThis app is a scam lol. They give no free trial (and make you pay for at least 3 months at a time), the buttons barely click, they show you approximately four people at once, sometimes who don’t live in your city, and then you have to pay $5 to see more people on top of the fee you’re already paying (or wait hours). And they threaten to cancel your account if you don’t do the membership (aka because they claim there’s a long waitlist). Terrible practice. Pay for hinge premium instead - money far more well-spent. Also - pretty sure most, if not all, of the positive reviews here are fake..Version: 1.1.1

Big promise, super underwhelmingI will preface with this, you will find on paper the most attractive Jews. However, I’m in Los Angeles and they keep showing me people from New York and miami. Their new “matchmaker” feature is quite amazingly bad. You get to choose things that you love, things that you hate & based on that they will match you with someone. Twice in a row they offered me someone who literally had the things I LOVE on their HATE LIST. And lastly, the amount of non Jews on the app will surprise you..Version: 1.6.1

Worst dating app everI’ve done two 3 month subscriptions to this app. The first was right when it launched. I didn’t like it because it rarely showed me people in my city and I didn’t match with anyone in my city. Other dating apps are hard, but at least I’m getting matches. It was a wasteland on Lox Club. I signed back up in December 2021 hoping that now there were more people on the app I would have more success. Nope! More of the same. Although I do see more people in NYC, I haven’t had a single match in 2 months. I’m confident this is not a “me problem”. I hate other apps, but I do get a decent number of matches on them (low quality though). I had high hopes for Lox Club, but it’s just as useless as every other app and you have to pay for it. Save your money..Version: 1.3.6

A for effort but F for the appThis app looks nice with some of the most pretty women in play, you even get access to instagram and “Josie’s game” when you already have a date. Unfortunately even after paying the full membership for 2 years, not one match. Signed up for match maker was told to wait. Matchmaker finally opens and I’m 1371 in line for it. Only to see you have to pay an extra 30$ a month for matchmaking, something that was initially a free part of the app. Nothing in this app is free and it is expensive without any sort of benefit to the user other than a nice layout and “Josie’s game” the app is expensive and useless.Version: 1.6.0

Over pricedYou pay a monthly subscription and then they charge you more to keep swiping?! what’s the point of a farting app if after 10 mediocre men you want me to pay another $5 to see more. Also why make you buy 3 months worth if you want people to join offer a free trial or at least a deal to buy one month. I know plenty of people who have been accepted to this app and never join cause you have to pay $30 for 3 months (and the tea is they’re all hot so y’all missing out)..Version: 1.1.1

Don’t waste your moneyLox Club is a disappointment. I am deeply discouraged from using the app. The price is obnoxious for the apps capabilities. You’re best bet it to use hinge and filter on Jewish. There is a limited amount of people on the app and many of them are paid/ part of an ambassador program for being on the app. Also there are non- Jewish people on it, which defeats the purpose. The app will match you with people who are so far away that you will never be able to meet your matches. Not only is the app lack luster and a waste but the events are really bad. I attended the Miami event and everyone there was incapable of having a conversation. The event was at a random bar in the middle of nowhere and was hosted by someone who was flirting with every single man there (no hate). I made more quality connections with the females that attended. But it’s obvious that even an app where people are paying so much money to connect the problem with todays dating pool is not going away. All the men are either Andrew Tate fanatics or are seeking a booty call and all the women simply would rather be alone than deal with it. Don’t waste your money..Version: 1.5.8

DisappointingWell, this app has certainly not lived up to my expectations in any way. It's no different then the other apps, frankly it's worse. I get like two people (who are usually nothing like I asked to be matched with nor do they even live on this side of the country) and then am told they don't have enough matches to meet my preferences. I also don't see how this is an app for "people with extremely high standards". (Sorry to say there are very few people I find remotely attractive and the profiles don't really give you much insight on a person) As my brother said, seems like a scam, that someone had a connection at the New York Times to get that article posted. Really disappointed, I was very excited about being approved and hoped it would amount to something more. Also glad I paid $4.99 for legitimately TWO more swipes. Y'all had a good idea... poorly executed. I most likely will NOT be paying for the service after my free trial. If I had paid for this I would insist on a refund..Version: 1.1.2

Huge scam.As others have noted, this app is such a scam. You get suckered into paying for an app that almost exclusively gives you profiles of people thousands of miles away (which feels ridiculous when other apps offer local matches for FREE). The “matchmaker” never responded to the message I sent, so that feature proved useless (again, what exactly are you paying for?!) and the in-person event I attended was so poorly planned that half the people were left waiting at the door. Do yourself a huge favor and SKIP this app. Regret losing $$ on this one..Version: 1.2.3

One of the worst dating appsHeard about it from a friend, seemed cool so i applied. I was accepted a few weeks later. It makes you pay $35 a month before even being able to check out the app. I did it thinking it may be worth it, big mistake!! What a scam! They show you 5 people and then make you pay $5 to see more people, insane. Also, total lack of functionality and no ability to adjust location proximity to the few people you are looking at. This app is taking the lame, greedy, tech start up dork to the next level of sleezy. Layering on the fake story and hyping it as if its actually “different” and not just a mechanism to make easy cash for the founders. Dont wast your time on this crap, so bad..Version: 1.1.2

DisappointingI love the idea of this app but unfortunately it has not delivered. Like other reviewers have said, it has totally lost the “exclusive” vibe as I’ve now seen the same people I see on every other app. The biggest disappointment is that amongst the ~10 people I can see at a time, hardly any of them are in my city! I’ve written The Lox Club to ask about this, and the response I’ve gotten is just that they’re working on it. It honestly seems like they launched the app too soon, don’t have enough people on it, and haven’t figured out the kinks. Save your money for when it’s in a better place - I wish I’d done that but likely won’t renew my subscription after these first few months of being a member..Version: 1.1.4

Do NOT recommendThis app is an absolute scam. I have never been more disappointed in a purchase. They clearly don’t have enough users, so they show you a limited number of people a day and I will go weeks without seeing anyone who lives closer than a two hour plane ride from my location. They say this is on purpose because geography shouldn’t limit your prospects, but unless you are willing to move it’s pretty useless in terms of dating. It’s the most disappointing dating app I’ve been on, which is saying something. Save your money. I would give it zero stars if I could..Version: 1.6.4

Rip offSo you discontinued in certain regions but cancelled existing subscriptions that are only half used without a refund?.Version: 1.2.5

Waste of time and moneyI also have never written an app review before, as some other reviewers have said. I just really want to help save people from wasting their money on this. The algorithm and design of this app clearly don’t have “matchmaking” in mind, just money-making. It’s all glitz and no substance. It’s not clear how matches actually happen. It seems to set people up for failure with the extreme limitation on actually being able to see people’s profiles. I wish I had read these reviews before I signed up so hopefully my review along with others can save people money!.Version: 1.4.8

Will some day be bigThis has potential. Here are the things to note: 1. There is no location filters, so you will be shown people nowhere close to you. 2. There is a finite number of swipes you get which is great because it gets rid of the feeling of an endless scroll, but with no location filters you often waste your swipes on people that are no where near you and are left waiting hours to swipe again. 3. If you are in NY, CA, WI I would download the app, but still lacking a lot in other areas for $11/mo it is very pricy when there are no users near you that are shown.Version: 1.1.2

Don’t waste your timeA BIG fat WASTE of time and money. The price is ridiculous for what you can do on the app. You get 5 people every 6 hours, sometimes less, most of whom are on the other side of the country (despite your location preferences) and are paid to be on the app. There is absolutely no quality control, you’ll see the same men on any other app. You’ll remain on a waitlist for any events, which should be avoided anyway. The ratio of women to men is absurd, they don’t care if 1 man shows up but 200 women do. If you’re accepted to an event you still have to pay for a ticket. They don’t answer your emails, any problem you have they’ll just give you a free “skip the wait”. I’m letting my subscription expire and deleting this app. The 10+ women I’ve met who use the app agree. Thanks to lox club for making Judaism seem like an elitist, exclusive, better than thou club..Version: 1.6.9

Pros and cons of their paywallHaving a paywall for membership on a dating app actually makes sense if you’re looking for a relationship. Lox club got rid of the option to sign up for a monthly membership so you have to commit to at least 3 months before you start which is a lot. It doesn’t help that their customer service team is slow to respond and when they do, they’re rude. Fortunately for lox club, these are easy things for them to fix.Version: 1.6.5

Apparently being jewish isn’t enoughThe app says it wants down to earth people while also telling you it’s for people with high standards. This is called cognitive dissonance. They lure you in with the it’s a jewish dating app but than tell you to go kick rocks as only 20% of the members get accepted, from reading other reviews it seems that the app is a pay to play right from the start so maybe they weave through tou in a google search to see if you’re gullible enough to pay, if not they simply won’t accept you? Nothing makes me madder than jews denying other jews from even seeing what’s going on. Would have loved to leave a positive review but i can’t get in, apparently i’m not jewish enough or idk they got really high standards or what ever that means..Version: 1.4.8

Subscription-only model locks you in to bad matchesThe kind of people on this app are such stereotypes it seems like Lox App made a bunch of fake profiles embodying what they thing a future mother-in-law would want. All the men work in finance - venture capital, hedge funds, investing, banking - or are some other “work hard play hard” bro. The model means that in order to even see the matches, you first have to commit to at least three months of payment. Huge scam to take your money and then give you terrible quality. Not only that, but they limit the number of profiles you see daily, so they’re really trying to pressure you into being a paying subscriber longer in the hopes that maybe you just haven’t seen an awesome person yet but tomorrow you will! They clearly don’t have great market penetration because even with the limited number of profiles they’ll let me see and even though I live in the large and very Jewish city of New York, I’m still getting shown people who live in Miami, LA, Chicago, and many other places that are not anywhere near where I live. I’ve written to customer support to ask for my money back but in true online dating app fashion, they’ve ghosted me..Version: 1.6.7

Not worth spending money onThis app isn’t worth spending money on and I’m surprised they don’t have an option to try out a month without committing to 3 months. There aren’t many people in the Bay Area and should support some location preferences. I understand some are open to dating anywhere but as someone with a strong west coast preference, I have no interest in dating someone In New York or Florida. Lastly, of the limited app dating experience I’ve had in general, this is the least interaction I’ve seen. I’ve had many matches but zero responses or communication from men on here, and none of them have tried to message first either. Seems like a waste of money and time thus far. 2 stars here because the way they built profiles is good and I like how the app looks. The questions could use some more creativity though , they look like an exact copy and paste from hinge..Version: 1.1.8

Don’t Do ItPlease read the other bad reviews of which there are many. This is a total SCAM. They claim the app is different and exclusive. You have to be “vetted” but I have a feeling they just let everyone in. The interface is a replicate of all of the other swipe dating apps you’re familiar with, but it lets you swipe on about 5-10 people and then locks you out unless you throw down more money! They claim this is because you should take the time to read through everyone’s profile before making your swipe decision. You get a few more swipes the next day, but then after a few days I started getting people from all over the country. The app has a filter function but in chatting with the “matchmaker” I found out it doesn’t actually function. I live in Los Angeles and I have been getting folks who live in Georgia, NC, NYC. During a pandemic this seems ridiculous. My guess is that they don’t have a lot of members yet probably because it’s a play to pay app. I asked for a refund and they never wrote me back so I’m leaving my very first review for an app because I feel totally cheated. Lost $90+ on this. Wish it was cool but I’m EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED..Version: 1.1.2

Disappointed, waste of moneyAlthough this app somewhat has potential, it’s definitely a bit of a scam. Once you’re accepted, you have to pay to use it so being accepted doesn’t mean anything unless you’re willing to pay. And when you do pay, you only get 10 swipes per 24 hours (I think?) unless, you guessed it, you pay for more. Overall there’s just less ability to find matches so at this point I’d rather resort to Hinge with my preferences set to Jewish. It would be the exact same thing except that it’s free and more user friendly..Version: 1.3.2

Incredibly dissappointingI have been a Lox Club member for a couple weeks, however I really only used the app for a few days. About 4 days in, I started getting profiles from people living in LA and Chicago, while I am based in NY. The app is also misleading about being exclusive, as most members I saw did not fit the type that was advertised. Once I tried to delete my account and data, I learned that there is no way to do it through the actual app. Instead, you have to email them. After going back and forth on an email chain for a week, I was told they were not set up to delete accounts automatically and that it would take a time to delete my account and data (did not specify how many days/weeks). Do yourself a favor and avoid paying for this app. It is not even close to worth it..Version: 1.1.6

TerribleUgliest looking guys and it only gives you like 5 people a day to swipe through. And it’s expensive. And they have a “text the matchmaker” feature where the matchmaker does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Terrible dating app - from someone on Hinge, Raya and every other app..Version: 1.4.7

Fails at the most basic levelIf the goal of a dating app is to get people to go on dates, then you would expect to be shown people who you can actually go on dates with. Almost everyone I see is in a different city so what’s the point? Who is going to fly from city to city to go on a first date? Since getting this I’ve met so many people who tried this app then left it for the same reason I’m writing this review. The only features that made me hold on for a second was the “Live Events,” where you could go meet people in person, but there’s only been one in my city in the last three months, and it was almost $300 a ticket. This isn't a dating app. It’s a scam..Version: 1.3.5

Time to at a geofilterI’ve been using this app for a little bit now, but when you only get around 10 moves every 6 hours and all of them are people from states plane rides away the app becomes less usable. I unfortunately will not be using this app again until a location setting is added. After a while it get aggravating that 1 out of every 20 people is sometime anywhere remotely close to you especially for something you must pay for in order to use..Version: 1.2.4

Please don’tHonestly, this app is awful. “Elite” is far from true -literally all the same people you’d see on other apps in your area. Really annoying you can’t select your search area. I’m matching with people all over North America-in the middle of a pandemic. Most of the messages are trying to get you to have phone sex. The fact you have to pay before you can even see if it’s worth it should tell you it’s definitely not worth it..Version: 1.1.4

Not what it claims to beI’m not quite understanding this app. I have friends and people I follow who keep advertising it. I am an accomplished and attractive Jewish woman and my application has been sitting in review for almost two years with no acknowledgment. You say there’s strict requirements. It’s seem purely based on looks as every person I am seeing on it is just thin and attractive. I understood this as a site meant to bring Jewish people together who have solid careers, are intelligent and have similar interests. It gives a bad name to the community by selecting people purely on the physical appearance. Stop advertising it to my core network of people In my circle and ignoring my application with no response. i would love to understand What are the criteria?.Version: 1.2.8

SCAM - DO NOT USEI downloaded this app 2 years ago and “applied to join” which requires that you send them all your contact details and some photos. It then tries to convince you to enter friends’ contact details too - I didn’t because of, you know, privacy. I just remembered about the app today. My “application” is still pending. I’m pretty sure they’re just collecting contact information and there is no actual dating app here..Version: 1.2.9

Scam. Admitted they invite influencers, fake accountsFirst you have to get accepted into an app that is exclusive, which they prolly let everyone in. Then you instantly have to pay $36 for 3 months to actually swipe in which you get literally a few swipes per day after paying. Scam. Then after that you notice this app is 98% fake models and influencers. You might get really hot matches in the first week and 1 out of 20 will actually answer. When asking support about this they said yes the influencer with 14 Million followers is her “real” lox club account. But you invited her as promotion and she will never be talking to anyone. Lots of fake accounts invited to have hot members and barely any conversations..Version: 1.4.7

I’m asking for a refund – you should be ashamed to charge for a lackluster experienceIn the 2+ months of my yearlong subscription, I am already cycling through the same potentials. This is happening in my own city (all 3 of them) and ones I recognize from previously viewing the profile. For something clamoring to be elite, it is quite the opposite. Seeing only 6 people every 6 hours is so discouraging, and for the price, you should be able to see all who like you. Really annoyed at the recycling factor. Matches are few and far between based on location and then the content of the conversation falls flat after 2 messages..Version: 1.7.0

Not worth itThe app has all the appeal and touts potential, but at the end of the day, it’s a low key scam... 1. Matches appear from all over the country. It doesn’t matter where you are, your *precious* 5-10 swipes can be from anywhere. I am on the east coast and have received batches of people exclusively in California. 2. There is a claim that people are vetted and waitlisted, etc. If people are vetted and the app is meant to be aimed towards Jewish people, why are there people ostensibly posting in their profiles that they aren’t Jewish? Seems like anyone can get through so long as they’re willing to pay 3. If you decide you still want to try this app, I highly recommend going for the shortest time trial for least amount of $$. Don’t get stuck being fed people who aren’t in your time zone for 6 months (during a pandemic?) and paying the literal price for it. 4. When I do have a match, no one writes or responds. There was an instance where I was chatting with someone and half of our conversation vanished (a bug?) and when I sent a follow up message days later, the disappeared text reappeared. This is a huge problem if messages aren’t being relayed to people the app is supposed to be connecting... 5. All the above aside, if you want to feel part of a quasi-exclusive community and money to throw, this totally is for you.Version: 1.2.1

Colossal waste of an appI’ve never left a review before, but this app is the actual worst. I’ve been on it for almost 2 years and have not gone on a single date from it. I tried the text a matchmaker feature to figure out why, and the only advice offered was to make my prompts more “serious” and less fun and that all my photos were great. The app consistently shows me men that are on the other side of the country and there’s no way to filter, and even with the nationwide (and sometimes global) pool of men I have been getting they consistently run out of men to show me. Don’t waste your time or money..Version: 1.5.1

SO RACIST! WHO EVER HEARD OF A ‘WHITE ONLY DATING APP’??? UNBELIEVABLETHIS IS A TRAVESTY AGAINST THIS APP STORE. COMPLETE RACIST GARBAGE. KNOW WHO ELSE WANTED A ‘WHITE ONLY SPACE’? HITLER..Version: 1.3.4

Not quite ready. There’s potential but right now it’s pretty frustrating to use. You only get to see about 5 people every few hours, and there are no filters other than age, so you have no way to ensure that you’re getting shown people that live in the same area - much less same state - as you or anything else you’re looking for. I’m also confident that most of the people on here dipped but their profile is still circulating because the match rate is INCREDIBLY low. Like if you get 2 matches per month, you’re absolutely killing it..Version: 1.2.3

App is terrible, events are okApp is terrible, you’ll literally get the same people you would get on hinge but fewer of them and living really far away. Obvi not exclusive. The events are ok- but like ALL of the events have music playing at insane club volumes. Literally can’t hear a word anyone is saying. Not sure why they would do that at a dating event. Its so annoying to be yelling “hi where are you from?” On a Wednesday, I’m not trying to lose my voice mid work week. Also just fyi, Jewish is a heavily emphasis on “ish” even by Reform standards, they served bread on Passover and have basically no regard for the Jewish calendar in event planning..Version: 1.5.9

DisappointedReally wanted to like this app because I’m sick of all the other ones. I see many reviews about it being best if you live in NY or LA, which makes sense. However, I do live in LA and all my potential options are usually in NY. The guys are super cute there but I’m not tryna move to the east coast. It’s super frustrating especially because we’re limited in how many people we get every 6 hours, so it just feels like a waste each time like we were lied to and cheated out of something. They really need a location filter option, I think that’s the biggest issue. They say they’re really exclusive and only accept 20% of applicants, but there inherently lies another problem— if they’re not accepting people, how can I have more options? Seems backwards. I really wanted to give this a try but very disappointed. Or LA has run out of potential NJBs. Could just be that. When I finally do have a match, no one messages or responds..Version: 1.1.8

Garbage appTrash.Version: 1.2.2

Zionists and Out of TownersI’m an American Jewish man, and I just think it’s a bit weird how many strongly Zionist/pro-militant-Israel women are on here? I guess everyone needs a place to express their views, and obviously many people have different opinions on that conflict, but it feels like a staple of the app that many women are strongly militant Zionists. Personally I find this a huge turnoff as I’m against state violence and state sanctioned violence. What can I say, for me it’s a turnoff. Others may disagree. I would say this is not a great app in general at this time. Matches are much lower than other apps, engagement is low, many people served to you from other cities, the app is expensive. The “pre-like” system is useless because they don’t see your response unless you match (unlike hinge, you can’t shoot your shot.) The app doesn’t really facilitate communication. It seems more like a big advertisement for their live events and matchmaker upsell. I think it could be great! But for now I’m cancelling my subscription..Version: 1.6.2

Potential but not yetI really wanted to love Lox Club. While I agree the dating pool is really attractive and people I see potential with I get NO matches- haven’t matched with someone in almost two weeks yet I’ve “liked” people each day. Reached out to the match maker and they said give it time- for an app that is supposed to be matching people, this one isn’t doing it. I hope they fix and figure out the algorithm because it feels pointless to use when you get zero matches.Version: 1.1.2

Good people but weak algorithmI really wanted to like this app, and I will say that the caliber of people is generally much higher than what I’ve seen on every other app. While the limited swipes every six hours is annoying, I get the idea. However, what has made it a poor experience for me thus far is that after the first week, I stopped being shown any profiles of people from the NY area — NYC is a hub, so I know there should be more profiles from there, but instead every one I am being shown is from California or other random states in the Midwest or South. Since it is already difficult to match with people on here given the limited number of swipes, I would really appreciate if the majority (or even some at this point) of the profiles I’m shown were also NY-based people.Version: 1.1.4
