✓ BSF is a 5 star, app is a 2 starI love BSF, but this app needs a bug upgrade ASAP. My lessons consistently freeze up and won’t allow me to move to the next days lesson or back and forth between the notes, questions, and Scripture passage. Most frustratingly, when I push through all of those issues, I still find that my answers are consistently erased. Can someone please update this app so it is dependably usable again? The convenience the app offers is amazing, but only if it works..Version: 5.6.19
✓ App Glitches This YearIt has become increasingly difficult to use the app this year. Last year I exclusively used the app for my reading and responses with no issues. This year, despite having the latest versions and deleting and re-installing it several times, I can’t get the notes for the previous week to stay and as I’m studying, the verses will open once then not open again. Or the app will freeze, and open the verses five times in a row. It’s extremely frustrating. As a mother with multiple small children, the app was convenient for me to study anywhere and now I can’t do that..Version: 5.10.0
✓ Could be so goodI’m not sure if I’m the only one, but my app does not flow well when I go between typing answers into the boxes and then going back to the verse. It freezes, and the only way to unfreeze is to exit out of the app. But if I do that, it also won’t save anything I have typed out on that particular section. Super frustrating. It could be so good, but I find I have to use a different Bible app to read the verses and only use the BSF app to type out answers…which even just that can be glitchy and I lose progress constantly..Version: 5.6.72
✓ Does not work equally on all devices nor syncsWell-thought App but not yet working like it could potentially. E.g. On the laptop, you could fill out the answers on the PDF files but they will not save. You lose answers as soon as you leave the page. If you use the iPad to fill out the answers, it will save them yet not sync across all devices, so if you open the App next on your cel, or website on laptop, all answer spaces are blank although saved on iPad. Only saves filled-out answers on either iPad or cel individually. Also, the App layout is better than the website page. Finally, when my husband logs in on his account, he has various things that I don’t have access to on mine. So, the website does not work the same for men’s groups or women’s groups I guess. This is our first time participating..Version: 2.1
✓ Super buggyI love BSF first of all. I loved the idea of being able to complete my lesson all on my device, especially if I were ever stuck waiting in line somewhere I could whip out my phone and do my study. However…after 30 minutes of being in the app my phone starts to get really hot and freezes. I have to put it in the fridge for 10-15 mins before it’s functional again. Not sure what’s up with that, but it’s also hard to navigate around the text answer boxes and my answers aren’t always saved. Needs a serious overhaul or update..Version: 5.6.19
✓ Great study, almost unusable appJust what the title says. Sync between devices is unreliable, therefore useless. Sometimes content just won’t load, for no obvious reason. It can take multiple minutes for a short answer to a question to be uploaded, during which time the entire app becomes unresponsive (can’t answers be uploaded while I’m reading the scripture links?) so I’m left just sitting there waiting before I can continue with the study. I love BSF, it’s an amazing study. This app makes BSF look like amateur hour, it’s amazing that it got released at all. The old app was limited, but at least what it did, actually worked..Version: 5.6.72
✓ Love the class. Not the appI love BSF. It is the highlight of my week. But the app is so frustrating. It locks up constantly. It loses my answers. It gets stuck between the keyboard and question screen. It repeats touches when opening scripture reapeatedly. BSF is a blessing. Please fix the app. FYI. I use an iPad 6th with iOS 17. It does the same on my iPhone 13 iOS 17. Downloaded update. Thank you. But app still locks up after typing an answer and then stowing the onscreen keyboard..Version: 5.11.0
✓ What Happened?The Good: What a great place to do our study. Keeps everything organized and even saves answers from previous years to see how you have grown. Overall the purpose and function of the app is fantastic. The Bad: The app is far more clunky this year. Many times I try to switch between the days for the lesson and it can take up to a minute before finally processing all of the clicks that were performed while it was “frozen”. Comparing the app to last year there is much to be desired. It is simply performance that knocked down the two stars, so I hope that’s something that can be fixed soon..Version: 5.6.19
✓ Terrible app updateI enjoy attending BSF and I used to love using the BSF app exclusively but the new update is terrible. I no longer can use the app unless I am connected to the WiFi so it is not “on the go” capable. It requires you to log in to the myBSF site so it is very limited to using only when I have WiFi. As a result, I have stop using the app all together as it is no longer convenient for me. This now limits me to my access to the study. Please change this to allow flexibility to being able to use the app off line. I liked having access to the study “on the go” when I travel and do not have wifi. I like being paper free but had to go back to using the word document questions on my laptop instead of my iPad. Such a disappointment!.Version: 5.6.19
✓ The app got worse…The BSF app reached its peak over the last two years. For some reason, this year the auto login feature stopped working so every time you use it you have to manually enter your email address and remember the password. This is multiple times a day. Can we go back to the old version or at least enable auto password entry via face recognition? Most people I know have stopped using it entirely. Other than that it is truly a fantastic study and fantastic app!.Version: 5.6.19
✓ ReviewI love the content in this app but just had to pull alllll the way over to reset my password bcuz I get logged out so often. I don’t need to be logged out of apps, thanks anyways. It’s really annoying and frustrating, I open an app expecting to use it, not change a password all the time. Also, the playback of the notes acts funny sometimes..Version: 5.12.0
✓ In-Scripture doesn’t loadBSF has done a great job with this app until now. In using my iPhone XR with the new 16.1.1 OS the in-app Scripture doesn’t load-just spins. This is very frustrating. I have sent various messages to BSF about this and get the same reply- reload app or turn phone off then on….nothing works. I hope this can get fixed. Since this last review Apple has given a new OS update. Unfortunately, with this new update, there has been no change. I have completely deleted the BSF app and loaded it with no change. Scripture will load the first time, but after that, it does not load. So there really has been no change. BSF has contacted me and said I have to turn off Content and Privacy in settings in order for the Scripture to load. That does work but it is a very poor option..Version: 5.6.72
✓ App has lots of issuesI have used the app for about two and a half years. I like working with a printed lesson and have used the app to quickly pull up all the Bible verses instead of flipping around on my personal Bible or a Bible app. It makes it so easy to just tap the bubble and read the lesson notes from the previous week (or listen to them) and access the the verses as you work through the questions. But recently, it has become virtually impossible to take advantage of those features. My leader even stated in class that the Lesson notes, scriptures, and lecture weren’t available on the app. I have not used the app to write answers because the one time I tried, there just wasn’t enough space to complete my answers. And…it didn’t save my answers for printing. That could be because I missed a step needed to save my work, but there wasn’t a prompt to do that. I love BSF and would enjoy a more useable and consistently reliable app. I think it would be important for the developers to actually work with an individual in BSF to insure it is providing what’s necessary to make using the app worthwhile. This week I have spent way too much time trying to make it do what it is supposed to do..Version: 5.11.0
✓ App is a train wreck compared to what was offered last yearThe study is terrific. I’m a CBSF app user and used the old BSF App since it’s first release. This new app is beyond horrible. If I could give it zero stars I would. How anyone could release an app like this is a mystery to me. Just bring back the old one from last year, and all will be well. I’ll go back to printing the paper lesson and hand writing my answers until this one is discarded and replaced with the old app. This list of problems with this app is simply too long. Very sad. ✓ Privacy Concerns?The app has a setting allowing you you the option to store your responses on your phone or in the cloud. But it still stores your answers in the cloud, whether you want it to or not. This isn’t a new issue. But it needs to be fixed ASAP before someone reports it to Apple. I believe many of the issues with this app are related to it attempting to sync so often. The app crashes so much that I just copy whatever I just wrote, close the app, reopen it and paste in my work. And this year, the Notes document from BSF no longer populates in the app. Maybe instead of fixing this app, you just build a new one? I know it’s expensive and time-consuming, but imagine myself and others in BSF would happily pay for an app that actually works..Version: 5.11.1
✓ HorrendousIt is so awful my eyes literally water when I have to use it. When I use the app it makes my phone overheat. Once I enter information in the lesson plan for a specific day , I can’t navigate to other days, it gets stuck and I have to close and reopen the app. At that point it doesn’t record my last entry. Would be great if we could control playback of lectures from the main phone interface instead of the app. The app is a wonderful idea, but the execution makes it more painful than having it exist at all..Version: 5.11.2

✓ It used to be a better appThe BSF program is amazing! The ap used to be easy to use and navigate. Now although lots of new features are available on the app, the are not reliably usable because the app crashes and freezes so often it is hard to use. It also requires you to frequently log in. It will be a much better app once the bugs are fixed. It has a lot of potential and a lot of good content that will hopefully be easier to use soon..Version: 5.6.19
✓ Lecture issuesI love I can do questions on my phone but since the app came out I can’t listen to the lecture at all whether going through the my bsf link in the app or logging in through safari or google. I could last year on any of my devices. Now the only thing I can listen to it on is my computer and that isn’t very helpful when I try to fit into busy schedule. I contacted app support and their response was to contact Apple and have them fix it since it works on my computer. Now I need to figure out how to contact Apple. This is the first app that the tech support has put it back on the customer to figure out how to fix it. And from reading through the thread and talking to others I’m not alone. I did figure out a work around on my husband iPad but didn’t work on mine, mine is older..Version: 1.0
✓ I can’t turn off push notifications and email notificationsEvery time I restart the app the push notifications and email notifications are turned back on for “getting started” and “recruiting”. I turn these off and save my settings but they always turn back on every time I restart the app. This is why the one star rating. I also don’t want to be tied to specific dates and times to be reminded about my studies. My schedule is erratic and I study often, but only when my schedule permits. ✓ It use to work well…It use to work well and I enjoyed having everything in the app that was before the major upgrade a couple of years ago. Now, I was told to go to the website for the audio notes so maybe they’re no longer available in the app. I have no idea how to access the lectures. ✓ Step down from the CBSF app it’s replacing.Hopefully the official BSF app will eventually include two features I use every time I do my BSF lessons with CBSF: AudioBible to listen to Scripture and the ability to easily access the NASB on the web version bible. The only bible version inside the app is NIV. The only web choice is Spanish. I can choose the Spanish version and then change to the English NASB but that has to done manually every single time I go into the Bible. That gets old fast. I really appreciate now having access to audio (including lectures). the sign-in is cumbersome, but understandable. what really detracts from the experience, though, is the unreliable responsiveness/hanging of any page change. ✓ Last year’s app was better!Last year‘s app was not perfect, but it was so much better than the current version of this app. I like how they have tried to incorporate more user-friendly items, but they do not work well. The sans-serif fonts makes it harder to read. I cannot print any lesson notes, and when I print my answers it just looks like a collection of pages and not a book format like last year. Carpal tunnel prevents me from writing down my answers in a printed book, so I use the voice option to speak my notes. But I cannot print any of the lessons to highlight or annotate later. I get “PPD Lesson 1 Notes THIS IS A TEST - REAL FILE MISSING” No other lessons get past the preview stage. And what’s up with logging in EVERY TIME I open the app? That’s highly annoying. ✓ Performance:I am grateful for this app because I have temporary low vision and it is easy to use plus has all biblical materials included both in print and audio formats. Quite robust. In this regard, the app is well designed. My main issue is when copying/pasting and typing your answers, the app can hang for a short period, will move to a different section of the page especially when pasting and can close on its own. I have verified good internet speed by using Speedtest to measure my performance - 300+ mbps, so not my internet. If does not stop me from using the app as I need it. ✓ Constant glitchesThis app is pretty much the worst. We just began our BSF journey last week and I cannot get this app to connect, stay connected, or provide anything that I personally need. I’ve had toDelete and re-download it at least 10 times to try and get the Notes feature to pop up and I’ll get about three minutes in to the Notes audio and it just glitches over and over and over again. It’s ultra frustrating because I rely on the audio as my vision is compromised. Praying they do some work on this app immediately so that it can actually be used..Version: 5.6.19
✓ Stop asking me to sign in so much!It’s annoying to be in the middle of my homework and go do something for a while then come back and have to sign in again. Also why does the app take me to the website just to sign in? That is also annoying. ✓ Love BSF…the app needs help.First of all, BSF is a wonderful thing and all the content and structure is fantastic. I appreciate that you’re trying to make it more accessible by having an app. However, there’s a long way to go before it’s convenient. I’m not sharing to complain, but for feedback so you know from end-user what’s going on. For starters, I have to manually login every time I open the app, despite following the directions for Face ID on my iPhone. I have not been able to get Bible verse to load in app. Just get a spinny wheel. The listen feature always starts at day 1. So even if you’re on day 6 you have to listen all the way through. We are using this in our small group. I’m not technically signed up for a BSF study, but my wife is. She had access to resources for the study that I do not. Maybe there’s a good reason for that, but it sure would be nice to have that. I think that’s all. ✓ Almost unusableI love BSF and everything they teach, however this app is barely functional. It glitches so much that I don’t even have the patience to do my lesson. Anytime I tap a tab, a bible verse, or actually any button it freezes and won’t work. If it does, it’s takes like a full minute to come up. It also makes me login to my account every time I open the app, which makes it frustrating because I have to use the Bible app to read passages since it won’t work in app. I used the help section in the app to report the problems and nothing has changed. ✓ Gone downhillThis app used to be great! But recently it keeps failing to load the notes to the previous weeks lesson. There is a software solution by spending 10 or 15 minutes each time playing around. But most frustrating. I am about to give up on it and use the book instead. ✓ First and last time app userI misplaced my book and was glad when I remembered BSF had an app. A friend raved about how great it was to have scripture right there. It seemed convenient but it was sooo slow to load the scripture. It was faster for me to find it in my own Bible, through a separate Bible app, or googling. I was also a little surprised at how often BSF pulls a small section of scripture from other parts of the Bible without background sometimes. And sometimes I felt like a bigger chunk was needed for clarification or more context. So if you solely use the app, it’s easy to miss out on important context by being limited to which verses are there. I get that the reading might just have 3 verses, but it would be nice to have the ability to read a few verses before/after if you wanted to..Version: 5.7.33
✓ Landscape & PasswordI like ability to complete lessons using my ipad. the organization by days & verse lookup features are awesome. However there are two significant issues that tempt me to go back to hard copies. (1) iPad keyboard positions iPad in landscape orientation. App always remains in portrait. Good thing i can read sideways when completing lesson. (2) App logs me out. Login blows past the save password feature on both iPad & iPhone. Given my poor memory & secure password practices, i have two choices use an obvious password such as my login email which is bad practice or reset password daily. Even reset is overly complicated. it requires two verification codes sent via email (not text) every time i reset it. i have been in bsf for decades & really want this to work..Version: 5.6.19
✓ This works sometimesJust when I think the kinks are worked out- the APP will start acting up again. I cannot move on to the next day without closing down the entire APP and loading it again.
