Strength by Mari for Negative User Reviews

Love it but it crashes constantlyThe app is great and I love the content but it does crash multiple times when I’m using it….a little bit annoying when you’re working out. When I initially open it/play one of the videos, it stops my music playing in Spotify - this does seem to stop after turning Spotify back on. Would be good to get some guidance on what weight to use and when to increase. Also, guidance in when you should think about increasing levels.Version: 1.8.2

GlitchesI like the app in theory and love the workouts however it glitches a lot when I’m attempting to use the app during a workout..Version: 1.8.16

Long way to goJust the app itself has a long way to go…. There’s a lot of issues that have been reported but seem to never be fixed. The workouts seem to random with no linear progression to help you achieve your goals, along with some other major app issues..Version: 1.8.2

Doesn’t workThis is so frustrating. I brought a one year subscription to this app and it doesn’t work. There is something wrong with it, the actual videos don’t work and revert me back to the Home Screen when ever I have tried to play them. I have emailed asking for a full refund and have received no reply. This is really annoying I was really excited to use the app and it doesn’t even work..Version: 1.8.12

App doesn’t work sometimesI really love Mari’s workout guides and the content of the app is great but I often have issues with the app itself. One time it asked me to reset my password which I did and then I went to sign in and it would ask me to again change my password. The app has also crashed a number of times so Ive had to delete it and redownload it a lot. Now it kicked me out of the app and won’t let me sign in or sign up, when I go to “reset password” the link sent to my email doesn’t work. Worst of all, this has happened when I’m at the gym so I’m left now knowing what to do sometimes. While I happily pay for the app subscription, because when the app works it’s great, a lot of the time the app doesn’t work so I don’t know if it’s worth it. Is there any way to fix this?.Version: 1.5.5

Can’t use it at allI can’t even start the app. I get a request for a new password and it never goes past there. It’s been 6 days and app support hasn’t figured it out. Really frustrating experience. I’m wondering if the latest 15 software isn’t working with it but regardless, I’ve deleted. Re downloaded. Changed passwords a billion times. Reached out for help multiple times. 6 days later… still no help..Version: 1.5.3

Disappointing. Repetitive and glitchyI love Mari and have been following her for years and years but this app is a bust. So many glitches. Each update removes all my progress photos which I don’t have saved anywhere else so I have lost months of progress photos. Only has 9 weeks of workouts and then you have to restart from the beginning, even though Mari and Greg said they would be adding new workouts all the time so it’s ever changing, this is not the case. The workouts are super repetitive and basic and not inspiring and the app is slow and doesn’t save when you check off a completed exercise. I reached out to customer support who new of these glitches and yet nothing has been fixed MONTHS later. But then they did a new update including meals on the app but didn’t fix the basic bugs and glitches. Super disappointed as I’ve been following Mari since her first round of workout bands :(.Version: 1.5.5

Love the app, but would love to see better changesDon’t get me wrong I love the app, but I’m only giving it 3 stars since I’ve had many problems with it. When it first came out I couldn’t log in, normally I wouldn’t mind but since I paid for it… I would like it to actually work. It took them 3 days to get back to me about it. Another thing that kind of annoys me is you can’t see the upcoming workouts for the week. You can only see the next day. I would love to be able to see all the workouts, so you know what’s coming. I would also like there to be an alternate exercise just in case your having trouble with form or something and can do a simpler version of the exercise. UPDATE: It’s been over a week since the update with the recipes, and I still can’t log in to the app…alone with a handful of other people. It’s ridiculous and unacceptable that they have no idea what’s going on. Contacted customer service 3 times and they have no idea..Version: 1.5.5

Pretty good!I like this app and I like it’s usability. It is basically the pdfs in app form so it does feel redundant but it’s nice to have it all together even if it’s frustrating to pay so much for something I already have. A couple things I’d like to see: the ability to choose home workouts that are just body weight exercises. I travel a lot and there aren’t many good gyms around in my places so being able to choose a home work out without any equipment would be helpful. I’d like to be able to look ahead at the next days to. Also, if you can make the app not allow your phone to sleep when you’re using it would be mega helpful since it’s frustrating to have to unlock my phone every exercise. I could do it manually but I have other apps that don’t allow your phone to sleep so it’d be super helpful. Hope they update soon with some things other people have mentioned too! Lots of good ideas! And also! A section of “how to use this app” would be great. I have no idea how long the rest periods should be or if you’re intended to repeat the exercises twice or thrice. It’d be nice to have an informational how to section.Version: 1.1.23

Worst appWhat a waste of £10 links put you to YouTube, the work outs are not tailored to you does not ask your goals height or weight simple routines you could of got from goodie for free.Version: 1.4.6

Day 2 and App won’t workOnly on day 2 of using this app and doing the challenge and the app won’t open. Tried all the troubleshooting suggestions and it won’t load past the Slay Home Screen and then just crashes..Version: 1.8.4

Okay fitness appI wish I had seen more of the app before purchasing - it’s a good app if you are looking for pre-planned workouts, however one of the issues I found was when I tried switching out exercises - instead of doing a straight switch for like-for-like body parts, it allows you to choose any exercise across all body parts (bit pointless as it’s broken down by leg, glutes, upper bod etc). The exercises are quite basic even for Level 3 - I was expecting to be wowed and I just wasn’t. If you’re new to exercising and lifting weights, this is a good app to get started with; however if you are more experienced and looking for diversification, you’ll be disappointed..Version: 1.8.13

Want to Love but so FrustratingThis is my 3rd time downloading the app. Every time they fix an old issue, a new one occurs. I’m trying to do the 8 week challenge and these are the issues I’m running into: - every time I open the app, it greets me with Mari’s message and then asks if I want to join. I’m already a paid subscriber! - when I try to click the challenge goals, it scrolls back all the way to the first day. Super annoying - when I click the history of my workouts to see what weight I did, it just shows me my reps, the weight does not appear - there’s no tutorial on how to even use the app. The new layout is very different from the first layout - do we circuit through 3x? Do we do each exercise 3x through and then onto the next? - I miss being able to write notes on my form or things for next time. I can’t seem to do that in this new format. After the 8 week challenge I will be deleting again and going back to Peloton. I understand Bloom and Mari are just a small company, but it’s time to put money behind the product and customer service if you want retention. I love and adore Mari but this is her worst product she’s produced out of all her companies/brands..Version: 1.7.1

Good but needs improvementsI like the workouts overall and and I like that I don’t have to think about creating my workouts. I’ve been doing the home workouts, I have not done the gym workouts yet. However, I think the app could use a number of improvements, such as: - Allow for increase or decrease number of sets. - Allow for substitution of exercises. - Allow for moving between days instead of only being able to see the current day’s workout. - The interface responsiveness is glitchy, I press the same button 5+ times and it does nothing. - Have history be saved once you complete it (check it off) even if you don’t add an exercise note. I’ll complete an exercise without any changes but it doesn’t record unless you click “Add Exercise Note.” - Save history longer than 2 months. I’ve had the app since early January but I only see logs going back to February. - Find a different exercise for “Squat and Press Up.” It seems like a waste of time and it’s physically intolerable to do ONE HUNDRED of them in a single session. Seems like they ran out of ideas and just upped the sets/reps with that one. I don’t regret my purchase and I will continue to use the app, but the above are things I regularly wish were different..Version: 1.4.6

DisappointingIt’s very similar to the workout guides but shorter and less challenging so feels like a waste of money. Every time you update the app you loose progress pictures. The customer service team don’t reply to emails..Version: 1.2.2

Payment onlyCreated an account and it straight up asks you to pick monthly or annual payments. I have no idea what the app offers and you can’t even delete you’re account after you’ve made it. You can not do anything other than log in or log out (if you don’t want to pay). Nothing against paying just not for me and not for some people so just a heads up! Perhaps consider a free 7-day trial?.Version: 1.2.2

Workouts are great, app needs some workSo the workouts are great! All of them have a short clip to show you the correct form for the workout. Love that! The meals are good, a little basic and not many options for vegan. The app needs some work for tracking workouts. When you complete a set, it doesn’t give you a confirmation. You can’t share your workout online even though there’s a ‘share’ button it doesn’t work. Progress pic option in the challenge doesn’t let you take a new photo- you can only choose an old photo you uploaded from the beginning…. Instructions for the challenge are unclear. Not posted anywhere in the app unless you watch all the previous stories Mari posted so I don’t know if I’m meeting all of the challenge requirements. Overall, good app for workouts, but the rest could use some updating..Version: 1.7.2

GlitchyI really wanted to love this app because I love Mari. I’ve been following her for a long time and am obsessed with lots of her Bloom Nutrition products. But this app is sooo glitchy. It quits literally every time mid workout and have to always start over and re-enter all reps/sets. It sometimes does this 4-5 times in one workout. They say you can switch from home and gym guide, but every time you do you lose all progress from the other guide and have to start over. I liked the idea of storing progress photos in the app, but they never save. I enjoy the workouts themselves but the app is so frustrating. I bought the year subscription because it was the best deal at the time but given the opportunity again I would not buy.Version: 1.8.2

Dysfunctional & disappointingIt shocks me that Mari has a fitness app and is not a certified trainer. For $14 CAD a month I would expect the actual app to function properly. If you go on the instagram, most of the comments are about technical difficulties and it takes them forever to actually fix them. I’ve been using it for a while and the glitches keep getting worse (since the new update most people have been locked out of the accounts that they paid for). It’s taken them over a year to add any additional workouts or plans (even though they added in a nutrition section which is basically a big add for her supplement company Bloom). If you’re interested in learning more about this go on r/gymsnark because I feel like it finally opened my eyes to how problematic Mari is. She can afford to go on luxurious vacations all the time but doesn’t care enough to hire people who know how to build a functional app..Version: 1.6.1

Would be great if it didn’t glitchI think the material on the app is great, however there are soooo many glitches. For example, if I’m in the middle of a workout and I leave the app for a few minutes and come back, the workout basically ends (timer stops, any exercises I had switched revert back, etc). Also, when I go to view my history for an exercise the dates are wayyyy off (like sometimes it shows dates from before I even had the slay app). I love that we can switch exercises if something in the workout doesn’t work for us but PLEASE ADD A SEARCH BAR. It’s painful to scroll through all those options sometimes. And another glitch, when I scroll through the exercises to make a switch it has like 5-10 of the same exercise listed making it even harder to find what I want without a search bar. Another thing to consider adding would be an option to highlight which of the exercises would target the same muscles as the one you’re looking to switch. For example, if I go to switch machine chest press it could show me other options that target the chest, not just an entire list of every exercise in the slay app. Love the options to toggle between gym and home exercises as well. Overall great concept for the app but could definitely use some work..Version: 1.7.3

Don’t get itTry a different App. I have been following Meri on Insta for a long while and decided to try her app. I was very disappointed and realized the other poor reviews were correct. The app kept closing down EVERY TIME I opened a new exercise. Very frustrating when you’re trying to complete a workout. I have already cancelled my subscription. ✌🏼.Version: 1.8.7

Glad I got itThis is a good app. I definitely stuck to my workout more and stayed the most consistent I’ve ever been. I like the nutrition section which is so helpful. My top pros are: easy to use, love tracking my weight(I actually push myself to go heavier based on my last tracked weight), LOVE that you can switch out the individual workouts for others (probably my favorite feature). My top cons: there is not a celebration/completion which is a bummer(I completed my first guide and ended up starting to repeat the last week and didn’t notice (said 106% complete 33/32 workouts), i wish there was an option to add your own workout as sometimes it would let you swap out a tricep workout for a bicep instead of other tricep workouts, and it was glitchy for me (would have to close the app entirely if I wanted to go back a screen or if I accidentally clicked end workout). My biggest complaint would be how do I follow the Pilates workout without a voiceover? You have to literally watch the instructors every move which is hard to do when I’m trying to do the movements. That was a bummer as I would like the variety in workout. Overall I enjoyed the app but had somethings that could be major improvements..Version: 2.0.9

Updated review…I love the workouts-though I still think rep count should be clarified if it is per side etc. the recipes are good but very limited and haven’t changed. The big downside right now is the app crashes constantly and clears out timers and progress pics etc. I have reported issues to support but have been met with less than helpful responses saying I need to try a whole list of things which I have and then delete the app and reinstall which will mean I will for sure lose how many weeks I am into my 8 week workout challenge. They don’t seem to believe the issues or care even when I send the screen grab(how the emails have come across so far). This morning the app wouldn’t even open without crashing so I couldn’t pull up the breakfast recipe I wanted to try. I just don’t get how an app can be released with so many obvious bugs that are so easy to replicate across the versions I have been on. This app could be great but right now I’m just not sure if I want to keep dealing with these issues long term if support won’t actually work them..Version: 1.8.2

DisappointedAfter sending numerous messages I have had no luck. I can’t get past the ‘enrol’ screen. The app doesn’t need updating. I’ve chosen to cancel my subscription as the customer service is woeful. We can post on Instagram every day but not answer genuine customer concerns.Version: 1.8.3

Not goodExtremely basic, workouts are not challenging enough. Waste of money. I am shocked Mari is okay with such useless app.Version: 1.5.3

Progress photos not AvailableI love Mari fitness and have been doing her work out guides since last year. I started with the PDFs. I’m only giving this app 3 stars bc I cannot see any of my progress photos. I uploaded a photo my first day using this app and it’s just blank, it shows there is a pic there with a date (wrong date) and everything but it’s blank. When I uploaded this picture thru the app it didn’t save in my photos on my iPhone so I no longer have it. I didn’t notice this until a few weeks later when I went to upload another pic so I posted another one, then about a week later I posted another one and my first pictures date changed to my second pictures date so I could remember what date my first pic was from. Today I finished my 9 weeks so I went back to see my progress and all my pictures were blank again. Very disappointed I can’t truly compare my progress. Also when I finish each work out for the day the CTA “back to home guides” pops up but I can’t click on it, I always have to wait or exit out and go back into the app. I love Mari fitness and want to support her so I feel bad writing this review, but I’m sad I can’t see my progress..Version: 1.4.6

New Pilates trainingI was super excited for the new Pilates workout additions. Only to find they aren’t lead by the trainer guiding you through the workout, it’s just music. It isn’t really beginner friendly when you have to have your eyes glued to a small phone screen to try and follow along with a workout you’ve never done before..Version: 2.0.3

Worst workout app I’ve come across so farI NEVER wrote reviews but I feel like I need to write this one. I have been using another workout app for about 18 months now and while I absolutely love it I wanted to try the slay app since I follow Mari on Instagram and love her content. When I signed up for it I thought maybe I was doing something wrong with the app because it’s not user friendly at all. You can’t go back or go forward to view the workouts. The workouts are simplistic at best and that’s putting it nicely. It’s like she just put some workouts in there randomly for you to do each day. I picked the advanced workouts since I’ve been working out for a while and I kept starting over wondering had I picked the beginner ones. It barely took me 30 minutes to complete and there’s not rhyme or reason to the workouts and how she has them set up. I guess if you’re wanting to simply move your body this app may be for you. But if you’re wanting to build muscle and progress and be challenged don’t waste your time with this app. I was just really disappointed and I realized she isn’t really a trainer and has no business training people..Version: 1.5.5

App needs workI’m a huge fan of Mari, the workouts, and Bloom. I’ve followed all her guides and for the first 8 weeks of Slay, I didn’t have many issues, just minor glitches (welcome message that others note, slowness to track after workout). But now that I’ve gone to switch to a new program, it’s been a bit of a mess. The app has been crashing horribly, one day I had to improv as it wouldn’t load at all. Now, switching programs is messy. It keeps showing 8-9 days of workouts in a week instead of the 3-4. I’m not confident in choosing a program because every time I click on one, something is different from the last time I looked at it. I really hesitated to write a review for a while but it seems the glitches are only getting worse. It’s hard enough getting up early to workout, adding app frustrations makes it less worth while..Version: 1.8.2

Workouts great, app coding is unacceptableI have been using this app since she launched it. The workouts are great, the interface is great, but there are so many bugs in their code it’s evident. The app crashes ALL the time. It will crash kid workout, it will crash when choosing a program, it will crash when trying to start the timer at the top. It’s not acceptable for a fitness app. I don’t care how much you’re paying, consistency is key. If we can have an app that works consistently, then it’s not doing its job in the fitness realm. She should know that given her platform and her fitness mantra. It’s been glitching for at least 6 months and I keep giving it grace and not wanting to give up on the program, but I think time has come to move on to another program..Version: 1.8.16

Crashes non stopThe app itself if amazing thw workouts are great but the app won’t stop crashing, progress pictures don’t save, workouts accomplished aren’t saving either. Been trying to communicate with their help support and no answer after multiple emails Ive been paying this app for the past 5 months….Version: 1.8.4

Nothing newIt’s not different to the one off payment guides and it’s worse cause you have to pay to find that out there’s no trial or taster 🤦‍♀️ waste of money really just go and purchase her pdf guides, they are a good beginning to lifting but nothing for advanced strength training 🤷‍♀️.Version: 1.4.6

Technical glitchesLove Mari, love the workouts, and how the app is set up. However the app is glitchy, random things don’t work. There’s currently a challenge I’ve tried to sign up for a bunch of times and it won’t let me join..Version: 1.7.1

GREAT APP W POTENTIAL TO IMPROVEThe Slay App is fairly new to the scene which makes it’s capabilities impressive! I find the workouts to be effective and well planned. They get to the point and get results. That said, there is room for improvement as this app continues to release updates. Suggestions to developers: I’d love to add my own notes in addition to tracking reps/weight. The option to do a combination of home and gym workouts should be integrated into the app. I’d like to be able to do two programs at the same time while keeping my progress in each. The timers and progress photos do glitch on occasion, I believe you are already working on this one. I think before adding MORE (more recipes, exercises, etc) it would be productive to improve what you have: a solid, effective workout program with room to improve on the app development end. A few updates and this is a 5/5 fitness app..Version: 1.8.0

Workout Guides aren’t accurateThere’s a glitch with the guides. Every single one of them I click on has two guides displayed/combined into the program. For ex: if I want to do the GYM LEVEL 1, it shows gym lvl 1 AND At Home LVL 2 for the weekly workouts - this makes the “daily workout” inaccurate. I’ve tried troubleshooting with every step to resolve the glitch - restarting my phone, updating my phone, updating the app, deleting and re-downloading the app - nothing is resolving it. I also tried contacting support directly, but the link to do so doesn’t work. I love the workouts, but the app itself is glitchy (above) and also restarts on you mid-workout and doesn’t record the weight that you enter into the workout. Anyways, if you’re looking for workouts that help familiarize yourself with gym machines/weights and is less cardio-intensive than BBG or Sweat app, this program is GREAT. I just wish the app worked better and there was an actual human to contact about the issues!!.Version: 1.8.2

Log In IssuesSo after the black Friday deals, I paid for a 6 month subscription, but never received a confirmation email. I tried to log into the app and it wouldn’t let me saying “credentials don’t match up” so after resetting my password, I was still getting the same issue. I did all of the steps they have listed on their FAQ page for troubleshooting and I am still unable to log into the app. I screen recorded the issue (as requested from their FAQ page) and tried to submit a ticket, but that link has a 403 error page. Honestly, when the app works it’s fine, but not having technical support is really frustrating. Leaving a review in hopes that someone from the team will reach out and help, since their tech support page is down, and needing help as well. They clearly say they don’t offer refunds, which is fine, I just want to be able to even log into the app without paying another subscription..Version: 1.6.1

Needs a full developer makeoverAgree with every single one of the last few reviews. The app used to be simple and totally user friendly, but since it switched over to the new design, there’s been nothing but issue after issue. For weeks now I haven’t been able to even open or use the app, despite having paid for membership. The technical support has been answering my messages, but literally keep telling me “we don’t know why you’re having issues, it looks fine on our end.” What kind of technical support says that?! That’s literally the whole point of technical support - it’s their job to fix the problems customers are having, not to make them feel like they’re doing something wrong. Now I’m finally able to access the app after weeks of back and forth messages with little help from them, and its glitch city. I don’t even know where to start. Mari needs to hire a new development team, it’s as simple as that. The app is a mess, and the support is mediocre at best..Version: 1.8.3

Good workouts. Bad app.The workouts are so good and easy to follow and I’ve seen a lot of progress BUT the app is so so glitchy I’m lucky if it even stays open long enough to follow a full workout I need to quickly take screenshots to keep a workout saved. Very frustrating when paying for a subscription..Version: 1.8.21

App does not workThis app has so much potential but just doesn’t work. Within the first 30 seconds of having the app open it will glitch and kick you out. Even the opening video doesn’t fully play … the list goes on. I paid a monthly subscription unfortunately due to a promo deal that was advertised and I have an email chain dated back as far as March with no outcome to the issues I’ve been having. Finally asked for compensation but they said they don’t manage apple subscriptions and I have to contact apple directly … don’t waste your money. Download the body coach app..Version: 1.8.9

New updateI’ve been using the slay app doing a challenge for the last 7 weeks and this morning I’ve opened app and it’s forgotten my name and won’t let me into app!.Version: 2.0.15

Like a personal trainer losing your progress trackerI got the app last year when they first launched and have never been super impressed. I tried my best to be hopeful that there would be less glitching and bugs with each update, reset, and deleting and adding the app and still no difference. I gave leniency the first year because of it being new but for the price, it’s beyond disappointing. I’ve lost all progress photos since that time, it closes itself constantly in the middle of a workout, or while watching the form examples. It’s difficult to be consistent with workouts (you’re essentially paying for) when you know you won’t even be able to track your workout. Imagine paying a personal trainer a flat rate (obviously much more expensive) but they casually lose your progress tracking. You’d be disappointed that they are still getting money for not doing that part of their job..Version: 1.8.3

No quality controlAt $16 a month you would expect an app to have some sort of quality control. Upon opening it it always tries to make you open the gym guide even if your mid way through the home guide. You click the guide you want and it loads for one second and tries to put you in the gym one again. There are other small things like when it says to do cardio it’ll say ‘15 reps’ instead of 15 mins. Not worth the money. It seems like they made this app and then forgot about it.Version: 1.5.3

Paid a month for it not to work!I don’t know if it’s an iPhone problem or what, but I had to pay for a month up front and then the app glitched out as I tried to set up my account. Wasted 10 bucks. So frustrated :(.Version: 1.5.5

Good but app itself needs workFirst, every time I update the app it deletes my progress photos. Super annoying. I think it is definitely geared towards gym exercises more than home. There is a lot of repetition for home stuff, and I notice not as much as variety as in her PDF guides. I really enjoy the exercises and the tracking you can do, I wish there was like a notes section on each exercise so you could add info if needed (like I used the resistance band on this exercise to increase difficulty or whatever). I also wish that when you switch an exercise it would suggest similar exercises that target the same group, instead of just a list of all available exercises. I notice a lot of spelling errors, even in the new 8 week new year challenge which just started today. I’ve had the same exercise listed in a workout day before. More attention to detail and editing would be great. And there is a weird ad/glitch that pops up upon opening the app. I do love Mari and her products though, I lost 60 lbs using her PDF guides and I have built a lot of muscle with only 10lb weights.Version: 1.7.1

DisappointedI’ve followed Mari for a while and was excited to try Slay during Black Friday. The app is disappointing. You can’t see what types of movements are in each guide without actively starting the guide. Then you can’t see if another guide or level would be better for you without quitting your current guide and completely switching. Then when you go back to the guide you were previously on, all progress is gone. The movements are the same in every guide I clicked on. No variety. You can’t search for specific movements if you want to change one out, and the list of options repeats over and over again. I purchased the full year and a week and a half in I wish I could get a refund. The app is not great. Please offer an initial 7 day trial so that people don’t have to pay for something then be irritated by it..Version: 1.6.1

Great workouts but App Glitches like crazyUpon opening the app every time there’s a few screens that pop up and disappear every 2 seconds and the app will keep restarting or refreshing itself. There’s glitches when I try clicking on a set to complete it, it doesn’t take until I try it a second time. Please create a proper functioning app that makes sense..Version: 1.7.0

Great app!I really enjoy a lot of features in the app. i love that it tracks your progress and you can change things to fit your need. I wish it had a way to input measurements instead of weight since for some this is a better measurement for their mental health. Also would be nice if you could see your progress in a chart! It also glitches at times (will not let me input things or does not do the 30 second break) which can be frustrating. Update: I finished the first 8 week program. I loved the program but have noticed a few more concerns. First, I think when you finish a program it should have some sort or award or something to recognize you finished a program. Next, you cannot scroll down to see your progress on weights over time. Next, it does not let me share following a workout. Next, my progress photos are never there it’s just blank. Finally, it can be difficult to switch outworks. It would be helpful if you could search for a workout. Instead the same one pops up multiple times in a row. I had liked how the guides showed you what specific muscles were targeted which would be a good way to figure out how to switch and still get the same results..Version: 1.8.2

Terrible Customer ServiceDissatisfied Slay member!!! I ordered an exercise band online after seeing “Free shipping on all items” listed on the page of the bands - no shipping conditions noted there. As my payment was being processed I saw a hefty delivery charge… my $14.99 band came out to $46.14!!! There was no option to cancel and unable to contact the support team by phone. I emailed the support team IMMEDIATELY, twice actually, and only heard back from them 4 days later saying they can’t do anything about it since my order already shipped (spectacular timing on their end). I responded right away saying my card should still be credited for the delivery amount considering it’s what they have advertised on their page…. 4 days later again and still no response from them. I also still haven’t received the bands yet… for what they charge in delivery, you’d think it would be expedited! Not impressed, to say the least!!!.Version: 1.6.1

More CustomizableI love the workouts in the app. I have been doing Mari’s workouts for a while now and I have always liked having something to follow when I go to the gym. I am giving the app only 3 stars for now for a couple different reasons. This biggest thing is I wish the app was more customizable for your personal needs. I would like to be able to see the future workouts during that week. And if possible to switch around which workouts you do on which days based on your schedule. I also wish that you could add or take away the amount of times you do a certain workout because sometimes you can’t finish a set or you do extra and have to add it into the little notes section. And the last thing is being able to switch out an exercise for something that is equivalent. Sometimes you’re not able to do certain things because of injuries or level and I would like an option to look at different workouts that accomplish a similar thing and switch it out. I normally just don’t do those exercises, but sometimes you feel like it’s not enough and are guessing on what else you should do. Other than that, I love that app!.Version: 1.4.6

Great workouts but app is way too glitchyThe workouts are absolutely fantastic. The actual function of the app is awful. So many glitches all the time. Today I couldn’t even get it to open. I honestly wish Mari would just go back to selling PDF home workout guides. I’ve never used an app with this many glitches before.Version: 1.8.4

Used to love this appUsed to love this app but now I’m paying for an app that doesn’t even load properly so its a waste of money.. so annoying!.Version: 2.0.7

A couple glitchesLove the workout plans on this app but there are still a couple kinks that need to be sorted out. Recently they have put out an add that pops up just about every 2 seconds while you have the app open..Version: 1.6.1

Find another appI was extremely disappointed by this app. Mari and Greg hyped up this app launch for almost two years, and I expected perfection. Wrong. Plenty of bugs to correct (like not saving my progress if I switch out of the app). As someone who followed Mari for a long time and bought her PDF guides, this app just put those same workout guides into an app, and honestly that’s when I deleted the app and found a new one to use. I felt completely scammed out of my money to use the app when I had the same workout plans already in my possession that I paid for. I haven’t used it after the “Black Friday” update, but I’m more concerned than intrigued. Maris style of training has changed, but not for the better. She displays awful form that could lead to injury if people follow, combines movements that aren’t typically combined for a reason (bench press and flutter kicks at the same time??), and appears to be more HIIT based which isn’t bad, but they’re not advertising it as such. Maris mottos is “strong inside and out.” Find another app if you want to be strong, I guess purchase this one if you just want to be skinny..Version: 1.6.1

I want to love it, but it’s not there yetI love Mari and Greg’s content and think they are doing a phenomenal job, but the current functionality offering and the price aren’t matching up yet for me. It seems more like a well designed mobile-friendly version of the guides than a subscription workout app. There’s just more things I expect from a paid workout app that aren’t built in yet. Like Rest timers and notifications, reports that show progress on lifts, included warm ups and cool downs, being able to see future workouts in order to plan in advance or do another workout without switching programs. There’s so much opportunity here though that will eventually make this a 5-star review. I can see a community feed aspect tying in to the app that will be unparalleled to other workout apps because of how strong Mari’s community is. I’m trying to keep in mind that it’s just v1, but I’m probably not the early adopter audience for this one. I’ll resubscribe and update my review once it’s gotten more features..Version: 1.3.2

Poor customer serviceI have been a fan of Mari’s for years. I’ve used the old guides and used the e book guides for years before the slay app was created. Well of course when the app came out I paid for it in full for a year and was excited to continue supporting her. I was excited to start the challenge this year but due to tech issues on my app i wasn’t able to use the app at all. I reached out to customer service and didn’t get a response until a week later when I had to reach out again on Instagram. Once customer service e mailed me they said they would be getting back to helping me asap. Well I never heard from the tech/ customer service team again. It is now the 3rd week of January and I just fixed the app glitch myself. Still haven’t heard from customer service. It’s disappointing to know that mari’s team isn’t taking customers seriously and is taking weeks to respond..Version: 1.7.2

The workouts are great, the app is terrible :(I love Mari and the workouts themselves are great. But this app is terrible to use. The screen doesn’t stay active while you’re using the app so you constantly have to reopen your phone or change your display settings. It also is not compatible with playing music and a lot of times will stop the music you’re playing when you start a new set/workout. The app also doesn’t seem to track progress as it is supposed to. Everytime I open the app, it has lost my place and I have to go through each workout I’ve already done and mark it as complete before I can get to the workout I actually should be on (meaning tracking the set/weights each time has been completely pointless). The workouts in general are great but the functionality of this app is terrible. The Alive by Whitney Simmons app is far far superior..Version: 1.8.2

Not set up for public gymsIt bugs me that the guides don’t seem set up for gym etiquette - I don’t want to hog a machine while I finish a superset. For ex, using the leg press them also going off to do jump squats. I’m not going to do them next to the machine, Id prefer the free weight room, but then I leave the machine open. So I’m meant to reserve space at both the machine and in another room?.Version: 2.0.7

DisappointedI love Mari and all of her accomplishments but this app was my first disappointment of 2021. Was so excited that I downloaded and signed up as fast as I could, only to find I can’t use any functions without paying right away or setting up a subscription ! I feel there was no mention anywhere on social media or emails that said this. Download numbers will be high until it’s realized it’s a paid app.Version: 1.0.1

Too many doublesProgram often has the same body part workout two days in a row with the exact same exercises and reps. Some days have the exact same reps and exercises one right after the other. I accidentally logged out and it erased all of my saved information from all previous workouts for the last 5 weeks..Version: 1.7.0

App crashes every time I use itCant believe people have been complaining for so long about the constant bugs and crashes of this app. Happens every time I use it. They need to do something about this asap. U til they fix it, don’t waste your money..Version: 1.8.4

Slay AppI have purchased the home guides in the past and also really love their supplement brand- I it’s where I purchase all my pre workout and BCAA, etc. When I heard the Slay app was coming out, I was so excited to try it as it’s just much more easily accessible when you’re at the gym vs following the pdf guide. However, after having been through a bunch of other fitness apps/programs, this one is almost too simplistic for me. The biggest turnoff for me is that I can’t look ahead to the schedule of workouts for the week. Sometimes it doesn’t even make sense the way they are scheduled and I wish I could simply switch them around but you can’t see the next workout unless you “finish” that day. One week ended with glute/quad and the following week started with glute/ham? I don’t find that helpful in terms of recovery or progress. I also find that the advanced selection of workouts are almost too simplistic... I find myself adding a few exercises of my own when I expect the app to provide a workout program that’s progressively challenging. I know this just came out so hopefully they follow through with feedback because with some changes I’d really love this app just because I believe in the people behind the brand..Version: 1.3.2

Slay AppI fell in love with lifting because of Mari’s gym guides. I bought them all, all of her merch, her greens etc., I really do love what she brings to the table. However, I’m only giving the app 3 stars (for now) because I think it could use some updates. I like the workouts themselves but I do not like that you can’t see the future days of the week. Depending on my personal schedule for the week it could effect whether I do an upper body day or a lower body day, so switching days around sometimes would be ideal, but the app only lets you see the day you’re actually on. Sure, you could risk checking off all the exercises to move to the next day but if you go too far it’ll send you into the next week and makes it very difficult going back to past weeks without still moving you forward in the present week (a glitch maybe?). Anyway, would love the option of moving days around and the app would definitely get 5 stars! PS: I reached out to Slay help and I mostly just got a generated response and nothing since. Another reason for 3 stars. The app is highly rated maybe BC the very first day it came out Mari and her team asked all of her followers to go rate the app. And Mari’s followers are kinda like Beyoncé’s B hive. It’s mediocre at best..Version: 1.3.2

Very glitchy so far.Nice to have the exercises but it glitches out multiple times every time I use the app. Can’t find my progress photos from the end of every workout (they arent in the progress pic folder). Generally seems like it needs to corrections and attention. Hope this helps to enhance the app as I’ve paid for the annual subscription..Version: 2.0.3

Workouts great app not working greatI absolutely love the workouts they are amazing and really great. I would recommend for the workouts alone . Unfortunately the app itself is not working great for me right now it’s partially blank and I can’t access everything but they say they are working on fixing it so here’s hoping they do🤞🏻.Version: 1.8.4

I want to love it!I really like Mari and the Slay app, the workouts are absolutely awesome and easy to follow. But there are a few glitches with the timers that have been throwing me off, ie. Not counting down. I also would love to see a next button after the set is complete, I don’t like having to go back and select the tiny little button to finish a set and start the timer. Personally I don’t enjoy the “happy workout days.” I would rather see progress. Tracking how many lbs I’ve lifted over time. I don’t track my weight as I’m an up and down worker-outer and it’s only progress that keeps me motivated. Also where do the pics go after you finish a workout? I was taking them and wanted to look back at them and it seems they are only meant to share?? I by no means want to rip this app apart, I love it and will continue to use it, but I wouldn’t mind a few updates. Keep going Mari, I’m a pdf OG and love watching you build your empire!.Version: 2.0.9

No trial periodShould offer trial period.Version: 1.5.3

Wanna love this appI wanna love this app, but it’s really hard to when it only works some of the time. Some days it opens no problem. Other days it won’t even load up at all. Kind of annoyed since I paid for the year subscription. If it keeps doing this, I won’t be buying it again I will be cancelling and finding something else..Version: 1.8.2

Very basicThere’s better options on the market for similar price, needs more a bit more development.Version: 1.3.2

Terrible App!!!!This is the worst app I have EVER used. It’s glitchy and what makes it worse is that customer support have no idea what they’re doing. They keep saying they’re working on it and it’s been months that I’ve paid for this app and cannot even use it properly. What a SCAM!.Version: 1.8.3

TerribleI asked for a refund three times and they kept palming me off, it’s an awful app. I think her hardcore fan girls don’t mind paying just to see her but there’s no substance to it and it’s difficult to navigate..Version: 1.4.6

Needs a free trial periodAs others have suggested the app should offer a free trial period. I don’t know what is on the app and whether I would like it or not or if irs suitable for my needs..Version: 1.5.3

App Won’t OpenGreat workouts but not worth a subscription because the app will only open some of the time. It crashes half the time when you try to open a workout.Version: 1.8.4

Super Glitchy and Loses your workout progressI wish I could love this app more but what’s the point of having a fitness tracking app when it doesn’t track? I’ve given up on trying to re-input workouts I’ve lost and the time recorded isn’t reflective of the work I’ve put in. The workouts and idea of it is great - if only they could get the quality of the app to the standard of a paid subscription app..Version: 2.0.7

Customer service is awful and app doesn’t workPaid for a yearly subscription to Slay and was really exited to start. However, I cannot login to the app as it keeps telling me the credentials aren’t correct, even though they are. Have reset password a couple of times, followed all of the recommended troubleshooting steps and still cannot access the app. It is proving impossible to reach the customer services for Slay. The link in the website takes you to a page that doesn’t exist and no response at all from Instagram DM. I have paid for a service which I am not getting..Version: 1.6.1

App malfunctionPaid for for my subscription but then it doesn’t move past that page... even deleted and reinstalled app and still wouldn’t budge. Had to make a new account because it kept telling me to reset my password. Made a new one and then couldn’t get to far! Disappointed as I used her old app and it worked great! Hopefully I don’t get charged for an app I never got to use..Version: 1.8.0

Not as challenging as I hopedListen, I am one of the biggest Mari supporters and been with her for years. I’ve had total loyalty to her with everything she’s done. I’ve waited for this app for months and was so happy to support her and Greg. I have worked through all her guides and am comfortable with the gym so I chose the advanced gym guide 5 days a week and it is just too basic. I can do all the upper body exercises in 20 minutes and found myself adding other exercises and supersets just to challenge myself. The third day isn’t a full gym day and just a touch up day when I’ve been lifting a full 5 days for months now and it just feels like a wasted gym day for someone who actively lifts and expected a full workout for 5 days. This app is great for people just beginning their fitness journey but it just feels like the advanced part got left out. I will try again if they make it more challenging but for now, I need to continue my fitness journey elsewhere as much as I hate to say it.Version: 1.1.23

Nothing DifferentIt’s basically a place where all the guides are now. There’s no new content that’s different from her pdf guides that I’ve done (literally every single one). The “advanced” workouts are not challenging at all, which should be for those that aren’t new to the gym. There’s about 4 workouts, 3 sets each and 1 ab circuit and 10 minutes of cardio, almost every day. You cannot view workouts days or weeks ahead, unless you check mark each workout indicating you’ve completed it so you can move on to the next day. Not very user friendly or suitable to individual needs. There’s also no free trial period, not even 24 hours like most fitness apps have, which is odd for an entirely new app to do. A free trial period should have been offered especially when they need to work out any issues like the app crashing and being unable to use what you paid for. While I do love their supplement products, this venture feels like a rip off and not worth the monthly fee..Version: 1.1.23

This app has been out way too long to still have this many issuesHow can Mari keep making more and more money but not improve this app? There are so many bugs in this app and after 3-4 “major” app updates and makeovers, they’re still there if not worse. From the beginning the app has had issues with random crashes and not saving progress photos. The second update brought on “new guides” but removed a feature to write notes which I found really handy. The crashes and photo issues remained. This last update has “revamped” the app, but removed the weight history of workouts for the program I was in the middle of (or completely) as well as removed the feature to hand pick which exercise you wanted to replace one with. It gives you options, but some aren’t even related (i.e., replacing tricep bench dips with a leg lift versus something reasonable like a overhead tricep extension). The issues with crashes are still present. I’ve been a follower from the very beginning, but watching Mari and her companies continue to grow and profit and still have these issues is so disappointing. I wish they’d spend less money on fake “organic” marketing and more time fixing what’s supposed to be the heart of her whole journey/business. In the beginning it had the excuse of being a new app, but at this point it’s just a huge letdown..Version: 2.0.0

Love Mari but not the appI’ve loved Mari’s supplement products for years! I tried the original pdf workout guides, but they just got too simple and repetitive for me. Her advanced is NOT advanced for someone who knows how to lift in the gym. Very much a beginner/basic content. The app seems money hungry to push a product that she’s not at all qualified to do. Mari is not a trainer, and very evident in her poor form and incomplete movements (ex: not ever pushing/squatting the full lifting movement as also seen on IG). Not cool to charge $10/month to be teaching others when you’re not qualified. Like others have said, you won’t find a negative review of her products ANYWHERE, as all negative reviews are deleted. That is not a transparent company. This app is the first exception since you can’t modify reviews on the App Store, and it’s quickly becoming apparent others see the same thing. She has a huge IG following, as she is a phenomenal human. But, not qualified to push a workout app without being a trainer. I hope she sticks to her product line instead, as she rocks this. Definitely would recommend someone else’s app instead of paying for this one!.Version: 1.1.23

Love the workoutsLove this app, helps me stay motivated. Only thing is that there’s a lot of glitches. First days i couldn’t see any workouts..Version: 1.8.3

Room for improvementI’ve been using this app since it released, so from inception through the update. It’s great, but like others have mentioned it can be glitchy, and there’s really no progression in the difficulty level of the workouts. I switched from the 5 day to 6 day a week plan just to get more ab exercises, and I find that some muscles are missed entirely (I.e. inner thigh). I started adding hiit supersets to all of my exercises to get my heart rate up through the workout and add the difficulty level I’m looking for. The recipe update is great if you aren’t vegan. 90% of the recipes on the vegan tab are not. They contain dairy, honey, Blooms whey protein, or collagen. So whoever added those recipes and approved them for the update must not know that what vegan actually is. Overall, I like the app. It’s nice to have a consolidated place for my workouts that aren’t my notes, but lots of room for improvement..Version: 1.5.5

Not worth it at allI really wanted to love this app but it is definitely not worth the 6 month subscription fee. The app is very buggy, there’s no timer or option for substitutes, you can’t see the full week of workouts, my results often don’t save in the notes section and the plan itself is very lacklustre. The workouts are short and very repetitive. Really wish I could’ve trialled this before I made the purchase..Version: 1.5.3

PoorThe content of the app is good but it crashes constantly which means you lose progress during a workout. I have cancelled my subscription..Version: 1.8.7

Great workouts but a little buggyI’ve been a Mari fan for the last 3 years. I was super excited when she came out with an app but even since the first version, it has had several bugs. Currently I am dealing with inputting weight/reps and tracking but it not reflecting until I go in a second time and click track again. It can be a little frustrating when I’m in the middle of a working set but I’ve managed to deal with it because I love the workouts so much. I’ve also had issues when launching the app. There is a video of Mari that pops up but immediately goes away. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to know what she is saying but I think it’s a little strange that it just displays for a quick second then goes away. Seems like the Slay team needs more QAs to test the versions before they push them out. I’d happily help if I could, haha! Do you all have test flight access for customers ;).Version: 1.7.0
