✓ Alba loves wildlife, and we love Alba.While Alba features elements of open world design and exploration, it maintains the core of an arcade mobile game. Sessions are small, and gameplay is easy to pick up from where you last left off. The hardest thing with Alba however, is putting the game down. Once you start, you’ll want to quickly run through the entire campaign and reach 100% completion. The game is short, leaving one wanting more gameplay. I can’t see developers leaving the game as is and not adding more content for players to keep coming back. Alba not only serves as an amazing game, it proves the future of mobile gaming. ✓ Good Game, But Not a Big Fan of the Use of SlangI like this game due to the realism in its environments and the message that wildlife should be protected, but the only thing I don't like about it is the use of modern slang, mainly used by the character Ines. She often exclaims "YAS!", a butchered form of the word "yes", when she's happy or excited about something, which leads me to believe that you made her do it just to show how "hip" and "cool" she can be with the kids. I don't like it when a game or cartoon uses outdated slang like "yas", which for some reason is still being used by some people to this day, to try to remain hip with today's kids. I think you could've done a better job. Maybe have Ines say something else in place of "yas"? Maybe "HEYYYY!" or "YOOOOO!" when she greets Alba in the beginning of the game, "Yay" or "Yeah" when they fix the bridge and get close to receiving all the petition signatures they need, and perhaps a cry of “YESSSS!" (with an E, not an A) when they finally get all the signatures. That might make the game a little better to play and not have Ines be such a cringy character. Other than that, it's a good game. But once I got to about Wednesday in the game, it was easier to play. I only have one small problem; when I was about to go back home on the game and I was talking to Ines, she walked home, then I walked home, and that was on Thursday, so on Friday when I whent looking for her I never found her. I looked everywhere, but couldn’t find her. Thankfully, I could open a new slot, but the problem with that was that I worked so hard on the game, but then I had to reset all of my progress :( Other than that, this was a great game and you should totally buy it. Oh, and another thing; Alba only nods or shakes her head. She doesn’t talk. The animation is beautiful and this is a wonderful story that you can play. Please get this game. I would’ve gave this 5 stars because I just loved the aesthetic, graphics and music in this game beautiful scenery...but the controlling could be a better and the map is so confusing maybe put the map onto the screen that way we can see where we’re walking to instead of constantly clicking on the map and getting further and further from the destination. And maybe have her get around faster the running took so long she should have had a bike or something to make her go faster. Also make it easier to find the animals a lot of people are struggling on that part some were easy but the other animals took up way to much time they would run or fly away and would not come back. This is the first review that I’ve ever felt compelled to write for any app, if that tells you anything about the impact it had on me. I was searching for a game that could provide a beautiful visual experience with a captivating story line and stress free quests, expecting a downloadable app to only tick off one or two of those desires with maybe an hour of entertainment. I reluctantly started Alba, expecting a game geared toward children. What I found was a heartwarming and beautifully written narrative that caused me to nearly play the game straight through, revisiting it the next morning to reach the end. Saving and documenting animals, finding hidden objects, bonding with other characters, stopping to admire stunning scenery throughout a pretty large island… this game truly had everything I’ve been looking for, and played so easily on my iPad! ✓ Fantastic, educational game for kids and grown-ups!I’ve just finished playing this and my boys (10 & 6) aren’t far behind me. We’ve all been really absorbed in Alba’s story and it’s so nice to see a game that’s teaches the importance of the environment and protecting the ecosystems around us. It’s relaxing to play and feels extremely satisfying when goals are reached. I’ve seen no issues with overheating (playing on a 4th gen iPad Air and 8th gen regular iPad). It does take a bit of a battery hit, but nothing I wouldn’t expect from this type of app. We did notice that sometimes, the in-game camera image is upside down - simply restarting the app fixes this. There was an animal that was stuck and hurt in one of the floors of the construction site and it would let me click it. I would click the eye above the structure then it would just show the roof. ✓ Surprisingly goodI did not expect much from this game looking at the screenshots. Needless to say, i was pleasantly surprised. I thought this was more of a game for children but this was a lot of fun for adults like myself as well. It is an entire, delightfully immersive, Exploration/Adventure game that one would typically find on a video game console system, packet into a smartphone. What really cemented the experience for me was playing with a controller attached which turned the game on it's side and switched the view to widescreen like most AAA titles. The island you explore is plenty spacious. Lots of different species of animals to discover and areas to explore. The best feature of this game is the sound. Truly made me feel like i was there. The design of the environments feel alive, diverse and lush with a warm cartoony style. You can play this game on and off without worrying about losing any game progress which is excellent. My one issue is that with all the good looks the game has, performance can sometimes drop unexpectedly after playing for a while. ✓ Pleasantly SurprisedI thought this game was going to be a bit childish and not have a good storyline. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Graphics are great and this was a wonderful game! It was more of a ‘cozy’ game that you could complete at your own pace, but I really enjoyed having that flexibility. I have minimal time in the evenings to play for about a half hour, and finished the game in about a week. There were some side quests that you could do, and you weren’t forced to follow only the story line. ✓ Too short, but amazing game!I love this game. It has in inspiring message, and the graphics are great. After you beat the main story and scan all the birds and stuff, the game gets really boring. Why not make year 2 on the island? I’d love to see more adventures in the island I call home. It took me about 2 hours to beat it, and I really loved the “save the wildlife reserve” storyline, it reminds me of sneaky Sasquatch, as you have to save the park in it. Although it only need a few hours to complete the main story, I spent almost eight hours after completing all the quest. Because playing this game was flexible. Listening to the nature, and collecting images of wild animals were so pleasant. There is only one problem that may affect the operation. You can't move and change your perspective at the same time! The main character is shaped proportionally for a 10 year old girl, the women had poochy tummies and muffin tops. It was just overall a very refreshing experience. I sense that the game itself is probably directed towards children, yet despite being 30 (insert judgement here) there are few other games I’ve enjoyed more than this. I quite simply wanted to be Alba. Beautiful story. Beautiful characters. Beautifully designed. I adore the freedom to explore on a map that is not overwhelming with non time limited goals that are required for progression but can be played at your own pace. The collectible aspect of the game is a bonus (and a brilliant one) and the use of the phones camera to achieve this is simple yet clever. I only wish it was never ending. Developers - whoever you are - round of applause. You have broken the monotony of mobile gaming and done something very unique. I thoroughly enjoyed each day of the game and found myself immersed in Alba’s charming world. I did find 2 very very slight bugs or hinderances that don’t really have a negative impact on the overall experience but just thought I would mention as a way to support the creators with feedback. 1. Sometimes when walking around the island (especially in the town) the camera view makes it tough to navigate. The camera angle moves up making the majority of the view looking at the ground which makes it tough to see where I’m going. 2. If you’re in a menu and an NPC walks into you, your view of the menu gets bumped a bit offscreen. All you have to do is close the menu and reopen though. FWIW I played alba on a 12.9” iPad Pro. The animals are mostly wildlife I have encountered in the U.K., so it felt kind of homely to have the birdsong I recognised and find animals I already knew. The storyline is sweet and fun. The game is simple enough for a younger child to enjoy it, but in depth enough for an adult to enjoy too. The graphics aren’t super fancy, and it’s not the most complex game in the world, but that is part of it’s beautiful charm. You have the control to wander wherever you want, and try out actions. But the game unlocks certain things at specific times so you don’t get bored if you are trying to complete everything early! The premise feels realistic enough, and the gameplay feels fairly natural after some practice. I didn’t encounter any bugs or issues during gameplay, but there were moments of mild frustration when things were hard to photograph, this is realistic though! It is the best game I’ve played on the platform and one of the best mobile games I’ve played. Visually, Alba is gorgeous. I love low-poly games and this scratches that itch. The environment encourages exploration and the lighting and effects complement every scene. And while the few songs are great, the sound design is excellent. It really sounds like a natural world as you explore. I can’t wait to keep exploring this little world. The story is objective and tasks keep you playing through. There are some moments even I found humorous and heartwarming. And again, I only played about an hour so far. Gameplay is solid too, with smooth transitions between your in game items and controls. So far the only negative is battery drain. This gorgeous game comes at a price and my iPhone 12 Pro got quite warm and the battery drained significantly during my play through. If you’re planning on playing, make sure you got a charger nearby. Overall, as a PC gamer, I can say this mobile game surprised me. It’s charming, gorgeous, and solid. The soundtrack and design are absolutely stunning, and you can easily spend a whole day traversing through the island. You follow a little girl as she tries to save the island from real-world environmental issues, and document the wildlife. The amount of detail and realism make this game really immersing, and is one step away from actually feeling the warm sun on the beach, or bite of gelato. You are required to listen to the bird sounds to try and find the animals, and the characters are extremely fun and engaging. I do wish that the storyline was not so linear, and the characters did not follow a harshly scripted line, and I wish that it was more clear in its instructions, as I was sometimes confused as to what the game was asking me to do. I did not experience any notable bugs playing on an iPhone 8, and the only unfortunate thing was the speedy battery drain, despite the fact that my phone was on battery-saving mode and has a new battery. Get this game for a calming, mindless experience, and have a lot of time spare when you play this! ✓ Take As Long As You NeedThe game could be said to be short by those who blast through the story, but I’ve sunk in more than a few hours already and I’m only halfway through the story and still have at least a dozen animals to photograph - as well as lots of litter to pick up and probably more bird houses to fix too. This is a very enjoyable game and I think the entire concept is great. The only suggestions I have would be to add the ability to play in landscape mode: one side walks and the other moves the camera - the portrait mode is nice but can be a bit clunky at times. If landscape mode was integrated, you could have Alba holding the phone for pictures in landscape mode too. I also think it would be neat to have simple areas to quickly see/explore indoors - like the church on the hill, or the flower shop in town - but the game is already pretty detailed and large. I couldn't exit the game. I'd press all of the button on my gamepad controller and none of them would bring up the main menu which allow you to exit. I had to force close the app. After, I did that and re-started it would work as expected. Also, the an 8-bitdo gamepad that normally works fine with Mac games wouldn't work with this game. ✓ Not quite what I expectedFrom the screenshots to the description, I kind of had it in my head that this would be similar to Animal Crossing. It’s a very laid back game. There are goals and miscellaneous tasks, all very easy. That’s not a a bad thing though, it doesn’t pose a challenge at all and I guess that’s the point. There is no keeping score, no points to earn, no upgrades to your character. It’s very lighthearted, easy to play and great graphics, pretty sure it runs at 120fps on the iPad Pro too. Unfortunately it’s quite short, I completed it in little over a day. Was hoping for an open world I could revisit and possibly upgrade, but it’s not like that at all. Also as someone else has previously stated, it runs very hot on the iPhone 12. My phone brightness dropped after playing for 10 minutes because of the heat, both in and out of a case. I tried deleting and re installing the game but it didn’t work. ✓ Amazing!!I love this interactive story where you become this girl that likes wildlife and wants to save it! I really love it because in my science class I’ve been learning about the human impact on Earth! This game has amazing graphics, a cute storyline, and REAL bird sounds! This game is great for people learning about the human impact on Earth and people that want to find ways to help the environment such as picking up trash. There is a bug in the game in the area called “building site” where an “Barn Owl” will get stuck in one of the platform thingies. I have a picture of it if you would like to see it. The next thing that I would change is how long the story takes to complete for me it took almost a day to finish it because I like to take my time and enjoy things. If you could add more quests, storyline, and things to do it would be amazing! Overall, this game is wonderful and a lesson to all viewers to not litter and do harmful things to the environment. ✓ Really fun and entertainingI love this game so much it kept me busy during lockdown I really enjoy the concept of nature and wildlife. Although when you finish the game there isn’t really much left to do and it’s not really that fun anymore I’m just sitting down waiting for a new update so maybe if there was some kind of way to fix this problems maybe Alba going home to her parents and starts an adventure at home or something like that? ✓ Please read !! big glitch ruined my game!!I love the game!!! It’s so much fun the experience playing the game is awesome but there is one glitch that is gonna make me start a new game. So I was on the level where you have to give the bird bird food with the grandma and grandpa and when the grandma told me to go to town I did I looked around to find 12 animals but then when I got down to the beach/town area it like wasn't soild so I was underneath the ground.
