✓ IM HOOKEDI absolutely love this app so far.. i’ve been reading 4 different stories and i’ve been hooked!! my first read was under the oak tree and after the first chapter i was immediately interested.. i don’t usually like the online comics but i’m IN LOVE with this app. you only need to pay $4 a month for the fee or if you don’t want to pay you have a 24 hr wait for a free read of a new chapter…. i’ve been paying the fee so i don’t have to wait because i can’t be left with a cliff hanger at all 😅😅 but manta does a really good job writing withers stories and THE PICTURES are PHENOMENAL.. very well drawn colored and shaded! i’m speechless at how amazing this app is and i hope other new downloaders feel the same about this app <33.Version: 2.1.185
✓ Great app in the makingI’m pleased so far with the app and it’s content, taking into consideration that it is a new app. The interface that exists is clear and easy to use, and the stories and art are high-quality. The English translations are good in particular, I’ve noticed. I also appreciate the value I get for the monthly subscription. Other reviews have already mentioned many of the additions I would recommend to the developers, but I would like to strongly suggest one thing: Please, please, please put a content warning for sexual assault and other sensitive topics (suicide, self-harm, etc.) in the summaries of stories that contain them. The sexual assault was the one I noticed, and I wish I had been warned beforehand. It wouldn’t take much, and it would make many people with experiences with sexual assault, etc. more comfortable and more welcome on your app. Keep up the good work!.Version: 1.2.110
✓ Fabulous app with great stories.I see so many comments complaining about the cost. $5/mo for unlimited comics is a great price considering the amount people spend on ink or coins on other apps. I’m currently reading about 5 new chapters of different comics per day and I’m absolutely in love with all of them. PS- under the oak tree is great, but it’s not the only story on the app! Give it a chance. Spend the $5 for a month and give it a proper try before giving it a poor review, I think you’ll be impressed..Version: 2.0.161
✓ WORTH ITA while ago, a Manta ad popped up on one of my social media’s with a few images from the story Under the Oak Tree and of course I immediately downloaded the app the learn more. Cut to me like a half hour later, majorly annoyed that I was already hitting a paywall. I decided to cave to the premium monthly fee, telling myself that I would just do it for a month to read a bunch of the stories. Then I could cancel it and periodically pay for a month to check in if I wanted. Now it’s over a month later and I’m so happy with the service that I have no plans of stopping it any time soon. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that the fee is just a monthly flat rate. I’m familiar with the Webtoon method that makes you pay for coins so you can buy episodes. This is so much better though!! For four bucks a month I can binge read all the stories I want and there’s so much great content! I’m always finding new stories to read and already have several that I follow faithfully. The art is amazing, they’re super fun, and it’s a great way to kill some time on your phone. Highly recommend this app!.Version: 1.3.140
✓ Absolutely worth it!!Let me start by saying that I never write reviews. I actually hate writing reviews tbh lol but I felt compelled to write one for this app because it’s that great in my opinion. Manta has got to be my favorite manhwa/webtoons reading app by far! Unlike the other apps that run on some super expensive token or points system, Manta runs on a monthly membership system and it’s literally only $4! No limits to how much you can read. Full access to every single bit of content in their library. Genuinely the best so far. On “Pocket Comics” I spent almost $30 just to buy tokens and that still wasn’t enough to be able to finish one singular comic or even get half way through it. I do hope that Manta expends their library some more and gets even bigger, but for $4/month, I’m more than content with what I have access to..Version: 22.10.240

✓ Why do i have to pay tho :(I just downloaded this app like 10 mins ago and the first comic I read was “under the oak tree”. I just don't like how i have to pay to read the next chapters, like I was so thrilled to read the next chapter of “under the oak tree” but then it says you have to pay, to read the next chapters . I was disappointed so now i’ll never know the full story of “under the oak tree”. I deleted the app because I just realized you had to pay to read the next chapters of the comics, and I have no money to pay for it lol. ✓ I love this app, wholeheartedly.I downloaded this in lockdown after seeing an add on Instagram and I have now been completely immersed into the world of manhuas, mangas, etc. The art styles are captivating and the story lines will get you hooked instantly. I am so grateful for this app and for all the amazing authors and illustrators work which are featured on it. Although it costs a small amount each month it is absolutely worth it, especially after you get a free preview of a few episodes of each story too. I also find that the way this app works is so much better compared to its competitors because of the payment plan, although I would love if they introduced a comment section under each episode. ✓ Uh...help?I saw an ad for this on FB so I downloaded it, but I can’t even create an account. I tap on Continue with Apple and...nothing. Nothing happens. It just sits there. When I tap the App Support link here in the iTunes Store, it just takes me to the front page of the Manta website which also seems to take issue with either my iPad or Safari, I’m not sure which; I can’t scroll to the bottom of the main page and I don’t see anything that looks like a link to customer support at the top. I wanted to read some of these comics but...🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ Can’t seem to get anywhere with the website OR the app. I’ll change my rating if you fix this. 😒😒😒 Edit: I gave up on trying to use “Continue with Apple” and used a google login instead, and that worked. Why is the Apple login offered if it doesn’t work..? Anyways, my comments about the website remain unchanged, and I never heard a peep from support, so...🤷♀️ After using the app for a few days my only complaint is as an iPad Pro user. The thing doesn’t use my entire screen like the other comic apps I have. I expanded it from what I assume is the phone version, but it’s still a strip down the middle of my screen with a good two or 3 inches of space on either side. ✓ Best Manhwa App…but needs one more thing.I’ve been reading manga and manhwa’s for quite awhile. I used to stick to one other app but became frustrated when said app decided to find different ways to squeeze money out of their users. I understood having to pay for certain things, but then the price would go up, and then they’d add another method for paid content, and it got to the point where “free” was only if you were happy to read one episode per day. I’m not that patient. If I’m reading something I enjoy, I want to read as much of it as possible. When I found Manta, and saw that it was (at that time) only $5 a month, I was hesitant, but excited. I was concerned that being so cheap, the quality would be awful…boy was I wrong. Some of the best manhwa’s I’ve read are in this app, and $5 a month is nothing compared to the $15 a WEEK I was spending on the other app…it was my guilty pleasure, and now my guilty pleasure is so much cheaper, and the quality is still amazing. The only thing I would love to see, is a comment section for each episode. Sometimes you just want to talk about it with someone else…even though there are places, like Reddit, where you can discuss stories on Manta, it’s usually only the most popular that get talked about. ✓ MadSo subscribed in January and everything was fine I was just a little sad that even if the episodes were free it only came out ones a week but that’s okay. Everyday I go in and read different stories but today February 26 my account was gone for some reason and I had paid yesterday for my second month so I tried to fix and i got to make a complaint but it said it takes about two day for it to be read. my account is no where to be found and I tried my google account and fb but none of the stories I had on my list showed up so now I’m confused because I didn’t know what I used for my account since nothing works I unsubscribed because I felt like I got my money stolen also was very mad because the stories are nice and today I started a new story that had a bunch of episodes I was so excited 😡.Version: 2.1.185

The subscription is a great price for the number of comics available, and there are so many different styles I think everyone should find something they enjoy. I was surprised by how good the translations are. It looks like everything was originally written in English, although I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. Even the slang and texting sounds natural. ✓ OBSESSEDI just want to say, this is my favorite app for reading on. The stories are amazing. I binge stories for hours everyday. The subscription pass is easily my favorite part of the app. It’s monthly price is cheaper than 10 chapters of other apps which makes me and my bank swoon. I love the way the library is sorted and all my stories are so easy to keep track of. I only have one issue with the app, and it’s a personal preference issue. I wish there was a comment section for each chapter! I love that about other apps so I can talk to others about the stories im reading. ✓ Binge worthyIt’s similar to “webtoon” cus the episodes are released weekly instead of “pocket comic” where you can get one free episode per day. But here’s the great part, once the episodes are out you can binge read all that you want when you want without watching ads. And there’s a punch of completed comics that you can binge read in a day or two nights. I’ve even found some comics on this app that would require coins to access on other apps. I think it’s totally worth it and great investment. My favorite part is that you get to see how many more views the app has gotten everytime you log in, you get to see the apps growth. ✓ Really good for a new webtoon appSo I know this app is still pretty new, and in my opinion it’s not bad for a new webtoon app. I really like the subscription system and I wished the other webtoon apps like Tappytoon, tapas, and LezhinComics had something similar to that. However, I did notice that some of the webtoons that are available in these other platforms are a little behind in updates on Manta. Like for example on Manta a certain webtoon would still be on hiatus while on the other apps, it has already started updating again. Also, since this is still a new app, the webtoon library is very limited. I am noticing that there is now a ‘Coming Next’ page so I’m excited for that. ✓ Worth it.I downloaded this app for ONE specific series that I wanted to read without having to spend money for individual chapters/episodes. For $4 I was able to completely read that one series and then go on to read OTHER incredible series. It goes without saying that this is an incredible deal. There’s a good variety of romance comics and they’re all very high quality in terms of story and art. I really can’t fully express how good of a deal this is. To all the people complaining about having to pay, I’m guessing that you’re probably not yet old enough to have a credit card/digit payment method. If that’s the case, then you’re probably not even old enough to read most of the series to begin with so...🤷♀️. If the devs want, they can implement a 1 time payment method for users who want to use the app without a subscription, that way some individuals can ask for their parents to pay or they can use physical money to buy a prepaid card and use that to make a 1 time payment for a single months use (the price would probably be bumped above 4 but it would still be a good deal imo) To (the probably small) portion of people who can pay but simply don’t want to, please consider how much work goes into making these comics by the artists. ✓ Reasonable subscription for contentThe monthly subscription is very reasonable for the number of stories that you can access. You can unsubscribe the next couple of months while waiting for the stories to update, and save money that way. That’s what I do… The comics are beautifully drawn, no complaints about the art. Some of the stories have strong misogyny (not always apparent from the intro) and almost all the stories have misogynistic content to some degree. I wish the app would allow readers to leave short reviews or at least ratings. Searching for particular genres could be better. Right now you can only search using one criteria, eg. “Completed” or “Fantasy”. Would be much better if you can use two criteria and the “Not” tag. Like “Not complete” + “Drama”..Version: 22.5.209
✓ Almost 200% in LoveI’ve been subscribed to Manta for almost a year now and I love it. It might not have as many comics as other sites I guess but it’s still got plenty to choose from. Plus it has some of my absolute favourites (review title reference ;)) and I’m on it every day getting my fix of updates for that day (not a bad way to start my day!). The main plus after the comics themselves is the monthly subscription versus paying for individual episodes and I can’t stress this enough. I LOVE THIS. Pay per episode can get suuuuper expensive so knowing I’m only forking out for one low charge but get access to the whole catalogue is amazing. The only thing I’d say is missing right now is being able to comment on or rate individual episodes. ✓ This is the best app to read web comicsBut like why is the price so good!! Hands down best app ever. I burn through these so fast and if you have to pay per episode it gets out of hand the amount of money you spend so you just don’t and are left sad. The only complaints I have are the English translations and the individual chapter lengths. I find the chapter lengths to be very short-like I’m patiently waiting for the next upload for a week or two, but when it comes I finish the chapter in like 5 minutes. I’d rather have chapters released in batches or only completed series put up there than this, or have the individual chapters be longer. And, I hope that after fundraising, the translations get better! ✓ High quality appI downloaded this app while sick, because I’d caught up with all my other comic apps and I was desperate for something to do while I wasn’t allowed to get out of bed. I honesty wasn’t expecting this app to be as high quality as it is! With most other webcomic apps I get issues with display glitches, navigating my lists, having my place in the comic reset, etc. but so far this app has had close to no issues! (Noting the only technical aspect that bothers me is the lack of ability to pinch and zoom in; as I have eyesight issues). It was a frustration-free experience, and I was very impressed. On a more personal note, I think many of the comics were lost in translation to me, as I’ve never actually been a huge fan of manga or comics done in the manga art or writing style and there were definitely tropes, implications, and phrases that I didn’t understand. The only downside that made me take a star away is the obvious censorship for stories with mature content, especially for the BL genre. In my honest opinion, I don’t think I can enjoy the stories as much as I want to if panels displaying sex scenes fade to black or are simply omitted out altogether. It’s simply not following the story faithfully. It hurts so much cause I’ll never get to know what happens🥲 I suggest there be some stories to read all of it for free and others you have to pay. My only suggestion for how to improve this app would be to have a “comments” section so that uses can comment on chapter updates and talk to each other about it, similar to how Webnovel does. ✓ I’m impressed :)Very worth the sub! Manta has a reasonably priced subscription and you can literally read as much as you like! The quality of the stories are also great and I’m totally invested in a bunch and can’t wait for the next seasons to come out. ✓ Best one I’ve triedI’ve had at least 10+ manga apps and I only use two including this one, and I can confidently say that it is the best one. It can be used free, but you are a bit more limited on what you can read, but if you’re willing to spend something for a lot of good stories then I would subscribe. It’s literally only $4 a month, which is wayyyyy better than all the other apps that make you buy coins or something to read the whole series, and the notification system is appreciated. It’s small but you’re able to choose which stories you get notified for which is really nice, and they also have a good “save your place” system. ✓ Best Comic AppHave been using Manta for quite a while now and can firmly say that Manta is the best comic app out there. Yes, it doesn’t have as many comics/webtoons as Webtoon themselves or other apps like Mangatoon, Tapas or Webcomics. But unlike those apps I mentioned, Manta has a monthly subscription which unlocks all the comics right off the bat. Webtoon has a coin system and a daily pass function, meaning for certain “completed” webtoons you either get to read one chapter a day or you have to pay per chapter (5-7coins). Which ends up adding up and you spend more than what Mantas monthly subscription is in a month. The other apps like Tapas, Managatoon and Webcomics all do similar things, you have to buy gems or different currencies of sort and these add up over time making it just not worth paying. The only time I can excuse this is when the webtoon/comic is solely on that one app and nowhere else to be seen, but even then I’m sure people will find a way to view it elsewhere. Overall, I just want to say that Mantas monthly subscription is truly the best way to do things. ✓ Best Manga AppI DO NOT USUALLY WRITE REVIEWS - This is by far the best manga (Japanese style comics, whatever you want to call it) app I have found. I usually don’t write reviews but I have had such a good experience with this app, I just had to. I wish there were more stories, I know they’re just starting out. The stories I’ve found from other apps are just too “fan fiction”-ish. These are well rounded, really well written stories. There’s been very minimal typos, no glitches or problems. ✓ A lot to choose fromI’ve seen a lot of people complain about the price when it’s really just 5 dollars a month. Considering the sheer amount of available comics, it’s definitely worth it. Every month there’s something new that piques my interest and I get on average 5 new episodes a day that I read if I’m not binging something else. My screen time went way up since I got this app and I’m honestly addicted. So many different art styles and storylines, I love them all. The people creating these comic are immensely talented and I think 5 dollars a month is not at all too much to ask for - in my eyes, it’s a steal. ✓ For a new app it is really good...Not sure why everyone is giving it horrible reviews just because you have to pay a fee to read the comics. I think the $4 a month is extremely reasonable, I already feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it and my first month isn’t even over yet. The library is very limited at the moment but they are adding more and expanding. The comics I’m currently reading I’m really enjoying. They even have ‘The Lady and Her Butler’ which is a premium comic on Tapas that you would have to pay PER EPISODE. For a comic over 100 episodes I would have had to pay well over $5 for it so I already feel like I’m getting a good deal on Manta. My only complaints are of course the limited library at the moment, and the clunky loading. Sometimes when I first open the app all my subscribed and liked series have disappeared and I have to close and reopen the app to get it to show again. Also pressing on the notification bell or the heart icon is clunky, sometimes it doesn’t even respond and I have to press again. ✓ AMAZING!I love the stories and how different art styles! Worth the subscription for such amazing novels - lots of different storyline’s and groupings. It would be great if there where more options on how to ‘save’ or sort the stories though. Like being able to move stories into groups of ‘have read’ ‘am reading’ and being able to section them to different themes or moods. (Like making groups on Goodreads). This would be especially great because I have a few completed stories I don’t want to un-save but are mixing in with my ‘current reads’ which can get messy. Otherwise this is a great app! ✓ Great stories and pricingI absolutely love that manta is subscription based, and the price is great. Every other web comic app I've tried makes you pay PER CHAPTER. You'd have to pay almost 20 bucks, give or take, for some of those apps just to read a one season for one story, sometimes more. That 20 dollars would be 5 months with manta with unlimited reading. Besides that, I love the stories on here. I'm currently reading over a dozen of them and they're awesome. Right in my taste for writing style/art style/ and genres. I can't wait until Manta gets bigger and has even more writers to enjoy. 🙂 My only suggestion is better advertising... I've seen the ads all over the place and a lot of the stories are portrayed in ways that cause lot of backlash. They are completely out of context and not at all what the stories are about.
