✓ A mess--nothing like TetrisI have no idea what this is supposed to be. They took Tetris and made it into some kind of neon thing with club music and bad controls. They show an outline of the shape at the bottom to "help" you know where to place it. It's something that takes 20 seconds to learn. It's part of the challenge of the game. But apparently it now requires this kind of hand holding that ruins the game play. Just give me the original Tetris with 8-bit graphics and Russian folk music. At lesat make it an available game mode. Nobody wants this dumbed down eyesore stuff with bad music..Version: 2.0.4

✓ Music isn’t for meI used to love Tetris so I was looking forward to trying out this new rejuvenated release. Unfortunately, the devs seem to have no interest in making this a fun & interesting game for those of us over the age of 25. There wasn’t a single song that I was interested in, so this is an instant delete for me. Add some songs for some of us “older” folk and you may be surprised by how many of us will want to continue coming back to play. There are a lot of good songs from the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s that would perk up this game (even something from the 60’s or 70’s would be fun)! You seem too focused on catering to the younger demographic while alienating the rest of us. If it weren’t for those of us who played Tetris back in the day, you wouldn’t even have a game to rejuvenate. So disappointing!.Version: 1.4.0
✓ Poor controls, doesn’t remember settings, unnecessary loading screens, intrusive animationsControls are poor, seems like devs are more concerned with music controls than controls for the blocks. Graphics splash across the whole screen when you clear lines, making it near impossible to play past level 9 or 10 since you can’t see your next piece falling fast after you clear a line. You have to adjust your settings every time you launch the app if you don’t like the defaults, and the defaults aren’t good, so you end up needing to adjust the settings every time. There are 5 different loading screens that come up from when you launch the app to when you can actually start playing..Version: 1.11.0

✓ Missing fundamental basic featuresThe gameplay is fairly interesting, but even after months, the game still lacks a way to change the keyboard controls, and the default controls are very strange, especially in menus — the options screen says to use the "backspace" key to go back, except that pressing the delete key on my keyboard does nothing. Likewise, the use of F1 for *anything* is extremely weird, because it means that the pause button is not esc (intuitive, expected) but instead "fn reduce screen brightness." The esc key, of course, brings up a "do you want to quit?" screen that seems like it means "and go back to the main menu," but actually it means "quit the app entirely." ✓ Want to like it but swipe controlsIt’s sleek and vibrant. A really nice looking game. Unfortunately the reaction time in swiping side to side makes the higher levels virtually impossible. Easy moves are missed because of the slow response time of the swipe. Is there something I’m missing? I don’t know of a faster way to get the piece across the screen. ✓ DisappointingTetris is a beautiful simple thing. Many attempts have been made to make it more complex or different and that’s always a failure. This “Ibiza” approach is cheesy, but worst of all the actual game play is poor. All three modes don’t feel right. There was a Tetris for iPhone by EA many years ago that played well with touch controls. I hated the EA layers added on though. When placing a block towards the ground level, it’s very difficult to indicate one move to the right or left, that’s important for Tetris and this version doesn’t allow for that. I’d like to see the usability touch controls improved here and also would like to see a bit more of a focus on classic game boy style Tetris. The music is fine in this version but it’s going to get stale quickly. Why can’t we get classic Tetris chip tune inspired themes? This discount Ibiza electronic music Is going to get old fast, it’s cheesy. The graphics and art style are pretty good though. It’s too bad that no one can even match the quality of NES / Game Boy Tetris for game play and overall enjoyment. Just make a good Tetris game please. Make a simple thing simple. ✓ It’s Tetris, but…The whole extra music, immersive stuff doesn’t interest me at all. It can be switched off, though. My criticism of this version of Tetris is, however, that the controls are absolutely rubbish. They just don’t respond well enough. The old Electronic Arts version was far slicker, but it became unplayable in 2020 when they presumably lost the rights. Fix the controls and it gets five stars, because it’s Tetris. ✓ Trying too hardSome aspects are great but the UI/UX is terrible and whoever designs some of those backgrounds needs their eyes checked - you can’t even see the blocks half the time! If you want to see funky/modern Tetris, then Tetris Effect is the way to go. Why can’t we just have a really great old school Tetris, with classic Russian music and art instead of these eyesores. ✓ OuchThis game hurts my head. There is an option to turn off the moving background but the border still flashes and sometimes the blocks flash too, even in marathon mode. There should be an option to turn off all of these visual effects, including the ones in the background of menus. It makes it unplayable for me. ✓ Big Tetris guy but not liking this one.Tetris looks basic on the surface but there is such a mesmerizing quality to it. Good Tetris players will know about getting in the “zone”. This game effectively stops you from that and imposes you a rhythm. It kills the game. Tetris 99 keeps you under duress and does so beautifully. Tetris Effect amplifies that “zone”, especially in VR which makes the beat, the visual, kind of a partner in the journey. In this game, the “beat” is a hinder, it stops you from getting in that transcendant phase and instead, holds you back. I can nod and clap for trying something but as a long time Tetris aficionado, I must say, this is one of the worst Tetris games in a long time..Version: 1.0.1

✓ Not what I wanted.I didn’t pay close attention and thought this was a normal Tetris game. But hence the Tetris Beats name. I didn’t have sound on and maybe that caused my frustrations with the game? Randomly my pieces would change as I was trying to position them. I would have a T and suddenly I have a block instead. Also the pieces often took several taps to move to the position I wanted. They seemed to be stuck on just flip flopping between two position instead of rotating through them all to get to how I needed it. I didn’t take the time to see if this had to do with the “beats” part of things. Not what I want. ✓ Beat matching is way offI really want Tetris Beat to be its best self. Tap mode is refreshing when it works, and the background graphics are reminiscent of Tetris Effect in a way I really enjoy. The song selection is great as well - and fabulous to see diversity in the artists’ identities and backgrounds. But I am gutted to say that the game’s beat tracking is offbeat a lot of the time, especially in Tap mode on Hard. With vibration on and the sound off things improve a little bit, but even then it frequently falls out of sync. As a piano player and a veteran of games like DDR, Necrodancer, Rez and Space Channel 5, I’m sorry but I know it’s not my fault. I’ve recalibrated my phone, tried toggling vibration, and tried through the hardware speakers and my wireless earbuds. ✓ Not great if you are a Tetris fanI’ve played a decent amount of Tetris over the years and this is… different. It’s missing a of the major mechanic from the other games in the form of soft drops(!) and therefore this also blocks more esoteric stuff like t-spins. The controls feel really clunky, I’m not sure if this is down to me missing the beat or just bad coding but blocks would drop when I didn’t want them to or end up in the wrong position. From my initial games so far the music isn’t that great but it’s serviceable I guess. There are obvious Lumines and Tetris Effect influences here but they never match the quality of those sound tracks and those games are additive to the music rather than making it a requirement. ✓ Music needs workTap mode is definitely my favourite mode - different enough to break the usual play patterns, but a fun take on tetris. Drop mode is too difficult to do all the rotations in a rhythm when you have years of tetris muscle memory to do everything as fast as you can! Sadly, the music is a bit same-y, and there seems to be a bit of a game centre integration bug, as none of my achievements are being unlocked. And marathon mode should not play the same tune over and over again. Unless it’s the original Tetris theme. ✓ A few suggestionsI like this game, but I have some suggestions on how to improve it. First of all, this game seems to assume the controller being used isn’t attached to the phone, but that’s not always the case. The controller I use for games is a Backbone controller, which wraps around my phone and is plugged in as a USB accessory. I think a good solution to this would be to add support for playing the game horizontally, although I understand if that wouldn’t work with the game. An issue I have with this game is fever mode. The visuals shown during fever mode are super distracting and make it more difficult to stay on beat. I think toning down the visuals during this time would improve gameplay quite a lot. That’s all for now. I might update this later if I have anything else. I like the idea of combining Tetris with a rhythm game, so thanks for bringing that to reality!.Version: 2.0.4

✓ It doesn't... work?I love Tetris. And I've been playing music games for 22 years. So a rhythm based Tetris game should be fun, right? Well, they don't offer regular Tetris controls off the bat. And the swipe controls they do have don't even work. I tried to swipe in every possible way on the *tutorial* and could get it to work 1/3 the time. And in actual gameplay, I managed to get about 3 pieces onto the board before the song ended. The Tap mode does work, if you want the game to select terrible block placement for you on the beat. ✓ Good potential … but flawedThis version of Tetris has a lot of potential but it’s deeply flawed and annoying to play as a result. For example, the controls are aggravating. The customized controls do not seem to save (they always get reset), and their default size & onscreen positions are not ideal. The game’s “tap” mode proposes awful locations and it offers no way to scroll through alternatives as other (older) Tetris versions. The music in special effects are neat, but sometimes, all I really want to do is play a calmer version of Tetris like I had on a Game Boy back in the 1990s. Holding arrow key doesn't cause continuous movement so you have to tap repeatedly. ✓ Tap controls got worse?I absolutely loved playing Drop on Tetris Beat, but, with the latest update, the hard drop has become unusable, which makes the game unplayable. I can get a block to drop about 1/10 swipes, and it seems entirely arbitrary what kind of swipe does it. Sometimes the block will drop only with a big swipe, sometimes with a tiny swipe. ✓ PotentialI play this on Macbook pro and also iPhoneX. Don't play it with unsaved work, it currently hard crashes my entire laptop 2/5 times I play it. This game could be awesome, but in it's current state it's hard to enjoy. It can be really hard to tell what part of the beat it wants you to follow. Some of the songs seem to have finger snaps and things that aren't on the beat, which pull me to clicking on the wrong beat. There are some songs that have spatial breaks where the beat is removed entirely. The calibration says click when you hear the sound and I can't even tell if that means click in time with it or then wait for the sound and respond. On the macbook when you calibrate, the previous menu doesn't disappear, so you can't even see the calibration screen you're interacting with. I don't feel this product is ready... but I feel it has amazing potential to be one of the best games ever made for iOS if it is ever fully realised. I need the beat to be so clear that you don't wonder why when it says "off beat". The tutorial needs to be revamped to get the player on the beat. Just let the player choose the way they want to play then give them a full useful tutorial for that mode. rather than giving them a relatively useless one for everything. And also, how does fever mode work? Where can i read about this either in your app or on your webpage. Again. This is not ready..Version: 1.0.1

✓ Really Fun, But Game-breaking BugsI love playing this game. It’s so satisfying placing the blocks to the beat, and it brings Tetris to one of my favourite genres: rhythm games. Plus, the songs in this game are great and it’s helped me find new songs. This is what I love about this game! However, when playing, I’ve noticed that the tetrominoes (the pieces) sometimes break when they’re created dynamically. For example, one block might be missing, which causes a floating block to be placed on the board. This messes up your flow, especially when on higher levels :( Additionally, the button the switch the pieces’ places and the Hold button on Tap Mode become unresponsive for a short while after Fever has ended. Not sure if it’s supposed to be like this or not, though Also, when trying to Hold in Drop Mode, it only rotates the piece until I tap a certain number of times and then it holds. Awesome game, but many bugs that need to be fixed!.Version: 2.0.4

✓ Poorly donePlayed the game once, probably wont play it again. The function keys are confusing and there's very bright eye hurting lights at times I guess you were doing well. The drop and tap games are boring and its hard to stay on beat. The marathon game doesn't even need music and it when moving left and right it seemed to move slightly too slow so I was placing them in the wrong spots..Version: 1.9.1
✓ Fix latency issue when registering taps and swipesI have an iPhone 11. When I tap there are way too many milliseconds elapsed before I get the audio feedback of the task sound playing along to the beat. same with swiping down. At the end of the stroke the sounds comes a few milliseconds too late. It really needs fixing since the whole point of this release is about rhythm. Re-calibrate via settings didn’t help and also shouldn’t be necessary. I was playing with speaker/wired headphones mode and was using the iPhone speaker. Perhaps more importantly, I’m not convinced that a puzzle game like Tetris works as a rhythm game. What’s next, a rhythm sudoko or crossword? It’s a good historic Tetris game mechanic to be able to slide a block that’s still in motion after it has “touched down”, to wedge it into the desired spot as it. ✓ Don’t do itControls don’t work in a way that’s quick enough to enjoy the game. Gave it several shots, but I’ll have to give up on Tetris. ✓ Promising but needs tweakingLove the premise, and really hope the developers listen to user feedback as it can be a great Tetris game. As with pretty much all the games on Apple Arcade, it seems like it’s been released before full testing. Here are the issues I’ve found: 1. Timing is awful. Not sure if calibration has any effect. 2. Tap and drop mode should have an option without time limit. Just when you get “in the zone” and find your timing, it ends abruptly and interrupts your flow. 3. Very unresponsive and glitchy on Apple TV HD. Maybe needs a low-res mode? Timing is impossible. 4. All menus should be available at all times. I can’t find a way of switching Bluetooth/wired headphones once it’s been selected. No way to reset calibration. 5. The background loops are cool but can give you headaches. PLEASE ADD SOME SORT OF “ZEN” MODE without that much distraction and psychedelic graphics!.Version: 1.0.1
✓ The concept isn’t well thought out and poorly executedAt first it seems like it will be a good fit but many of the songs just don’t work for Tetris. Even if you only play on 2s it still feels off. Much of the track listing is probably what popular song some board exec thought they could get for cheap. I do believe this game could work if they did custom arrangements, music has been a huge part of Tetris and Tetris 99 showed how dynamic music can have a big impact on play. Besides issues with the track selection the game will occasionally lag (on iPhone 12 at least) and cause you to break your chain which is frustrating..Version: 1.0.1

✓ AnnoyingI was looking for a plain Tetris that is not full or all possible trackers and subscriptions. This app seems to fit the bill until you realized that the beat nonsense is forced on you and cannot be turned permanently off. Recent versions suffer from control issues that are not resolved by reinstalling the app. The speed up in the game is poorly implementing resulting in a too easy start up followed by a very steep speed increase. At that stage control is very unreliable even on devices that should easily handle the load. At the end I completely lost interest….Version: 2.0.4
