Lingvano - Learn Sign Language for Positive User Reviews

You can listen to music while learningIf you have your headphones on the videos playing on the app won’t stop your music. Great feature.Version: 3.0.2

Not just ASL. Deaf culture, too!I almost never take the time to write reviews, but this app is fabulous. I am on a 43 day streak, and I am so delighted with my progress. For context, I spent some time in deaf circles as a child, more than 40 years ago, but have had almost no ASL practice since then. In just a few entertaining minutes a day, this app has helped me regain everything I once knew and then some. It starts out deceptively easy, but has a phenomenal depth of both ASL (including grammar!) and Deaf culture. I am so glad that I got a year subscription. I often do a lesson first thing in the morning, but if I forget, it gently reminds me not to break my streak come afternoon. My progress has been such that, last weekend, I felt confident enough to show up at a deaf gathering in my town. I really like that there is no sound and that the teachers are deaf themselves. This forces me to really work on understanding sign language, rather than lipreading or depending on speech or captions. My only suggestion would be to add a feedback button. There are occasional text errors which could easily be pointed out if there was a forum to do so. overall, highly highly highly recommend this app. I’m having a blast with it!.Version: 3.0.2

I love itThis happens so good if a teacher sign language there are absolutely nothing that makes me not like this app. I’ve been using it for 15 minutes every day. It’s amazing you need to try it on an ad so if you go to Jorge Mitchell elementary school if you go to if you eat lunch if you’re in second grade if you eat lunch first and then go outside for recess please go to the bench and I’ll teach you sign language but with this app it’s the best app in the world you need to get it and then if you come to my side movie Gratiot, you know all the things I try to get you to know, so make sure you try. This app is the bomb, and so far no ads.Version: 2.7.5

Great app but not nearly enough contentI have recently begun filming on a TV series almost entirely cast & crewed with deaf or hard of hearing people. The majority of the dialogue is BSL and although my character was not required to do any, behind the scenes I felt it would be important for me to be able to converse with everyone else. This app has been incredibly useful in allow me to hold longer and fuller conversations with the rest of the cast. I feel I have learnt a huge amount in 4 weeks. However, I feel that the content is very limited and I have had to find other sources for simple words. For example this app taught me the sign for table and chair, but not bed. Also, upon completing the 3 modules, I was disappointed to find that there were no more. I'm sure there will be an update, but I will cancel my subscription before it's added, as I won't pay for an app I don't now need. Still, great place to start learning BSL..Version: 2.6.6

Very intuitive but buggy and expensiveI’ve wanted to learn BSL for ages and keep not finding time or managing to get around to it but I really love the intuitive nature of this app. I’ve only just started and I feel like I already know so much. The subscription model is terrible in my opinion, at £20 a month unless you pay for a whole year upfront (£120) for the £10 a month price (which is still double the price of Duolingo and many other apps). I think the price puts more people off than the high price probably earns them so I hope they lower it. Though maybe BSL is too niche a thing to learn for that to work out. There are lots of bugs too. It only gets for stars because when it works it’s just that good..Version: 2.8.1

I love this appPretty good so far.Version: 2.7.6

Worth itThe price is more expensive than the average app, but 100% worth it. There are multiple people signing in the videos on the app and they deserve to get paid fairly for what they are doing. After maybe an hour of on and off use today I have learned at least a dozen new signs, and i have previously taken a sign language course. If you can’t afford it, there are many free resources out there, but for someone willing to pay the extra money for a more efficient way to learn it is fantastic..Version: 3.0.2

Great app! This app is well designed and easy to use. I only have one suggestion. It would be helpful to be able to make the videos expand to full screen, as this way I could see the details easier e.g. how many fingers were used in what position..Version: 2.7.9

Wow !!Love this app so much ! No feedback at this moment, haven’t used the app all that long but so far no complaints. Super easy to learn from home and on the fly. Love it 💜.Version: 3.0.2

AWESOMEI’ve always wanted to learn sign language not because I had a relative or friend that I wanted to learn for but just because I was genuinely curious to and it looked fun to do hehe I also wanted to learn just in case I wanted to communicate with someone who was deaf, hard of hearing or mute!! So I really appreciate this app Thank you so much! JJ <333.Version: 3.0.2

Great!Everything is awesome about this, I have just started this app and it is already amazing at using. I have Doulingo and this is almost and exact replica of Duolingo but for sign language. That is not a bad thing at all! The ONLY down side of this app that I have experienced so far is it is a bit easy. Not because I have already learned some ASL already but it is because it gives obvious hints that doesn’t help someone learn. The “obvious hints “ that I am talking about would be that it asks me what sign is a certain word and it has two options, those options say what the word that sign is if that makes any sense. There is one thing that I THINK is something wrong is there is a mirroring button that I was expecting it to have a camera and make me do that sign and it would recognize what I am doing. It doesn’t have that. It does however have the mirror button and it does have the camera, but it doesn’t do anything besides show you yourself, nothing else, to me why even have the button. Everything else I love about this app and I don’t even think that you need the mirror thingy but I was expecting it because I was sure I saw it in an ad I saw. All I have to say is that. Thank you for reading my review.🤠.Version: 3.0.2

An actual DREAMI have always wanted to learn to sign. But it wasn’t offered in my school system and with my budget now, finding an in person class to pay for isn’t an option. I stumbled across this in an add. And did the first chapter because that is what is offered for free. I learned the greetings quickly and immediately dove into the free trial of o continue because I was so excited to keep going. Everything is explained so thoroughly and even if I’m slow signing right now, it’s so exciting to be able to understand what someone is signing to me. And I think it will be more than worth the monthly price until I’ve completed all the units. And it comes with three dialects to learn, so I could become multi lingual in sign. This is a true dream come true, and I’m so thankful that I found this app..Version: 2.8.3

I recommendI can hear perfectly fine and most of the time I can speak however when I get overwhelmed it's very difficult for me to form sentence or even just words but this app is helping me find a solution to this problem and it seems very reliable and accurate (sorry if this is to vague).Version: 2.8.1

A great appReally enjoy using this app and as a teacher the quick 5 minute streaks will allow me to fit in new learning into my busy day. Can’t wait to converse with one of my new students!.Version: 2.8.2

Good appI really enjoyed the App. The teaching style is great a lot better than others I’ve looked at. I’ve completed all 9 milestones which were spread over 36 lessons within a couple of weeks. I was expecting there to be another level. The lessons felt like an introduction to BSL, a very good introduction, but I was expecting more considering the cost of it..Version: 2.8.2

🥰Very helpful. Learning to communicate in sign is a lot easier with direction then with the internet and mixed signals. 👍👍👍.Version: 2.8.6

Incredible appThis is an incredible app. Easy to use and follow. I haven’t bitten the bullet to buy the subscription yet but have learning lots already from just the free trial. Highly recommend..Version: 3.0.5

Great app for beginnersI’ve always wanted to learn ASL, and this app makes it very easy to do so. The clear and easy to understand and copy signs make learning easy. I also love the mirror feature which allows you to use the camera on your phone while watching the models to make sure you’re doing each sign correctly. The paid version is pretty spendy at $18/month so for now I’m just sticking with the free version. I’m really enjoying it, however, and if Nahas meaning ASL both easy and fun!.Version: 2.8.3

This should helpIt asks you questions and teachers you knew sign language and it’s for free.Version: 3.0.2

Nearly DeafI suffered a massive injury and hit my head on my car while then striking it on black ice that I feel on. I was giving a hearing aid for my right ear, and I still have sound in the left ear. Last evening I spent two hours in the emergency room while they try to pull out the dome of my hearing aid that was lodged deep inside the canal, almost 2 inches. The pain was beyond excruciating as they pulled it out, and I am petrified to wear my hearing aid. Therefore, I would like to learn ASL to help me function. This site is extremely easy for a beginner and I highly recommend it this far. Thank you to whoever developed this app..Version: 2.7.9

Awesome ASL app in the midst of much … crap out there….I’ve been studying ASL for a couple years, casually. I know a lot, but it’s random, you know? So I expected the introductory lessons to be basically just silliness for me. But wow, this app is so rich in content, and does so much repetition. One of its major strengths is the videos - I still have to use the “slow” feature jut before this app, I just couldn’t follow when other people signed, and now I feel like I might actually be able to be a fluent(ish) signer one day! Grammar is mostly just built into the lessons themselves, but they’ll also call out specific grammatical with just a few lines on one screen. I love it so much I bought my daughter her own subscription. My only real complaint - if you don’t finish a lesson chunk, it doesn’t save your progress like other apps do. Cannot understand why this is. So it’s great incentive to actually finish little lessons every day!.Version: 2.7.9

ExcellentOnly just downloaded but this app its amazing, such an easy way to learn. I’ve been looking for a good app like this for ages yayy!.Version: 2.7.9

So helpful!I have started teaching in a school that specialises in moderate to severe learning challenges. We us SignAlong. I am also losing my hearing. So this is amazing. Thank you!.Version: 2.7.9

Great app, but stick to YouTubeI love the app, it’s interactive and makes learning ASL fun and easy just like Duolingo. I recommend it if you would want to support a good ASL app. But I would suggest just sticking with YT videos if you don’t feel like paying anything..Version: 2.7.9

Learning ASL for funIt tells u ur doing good every step and helps u in areas u need help. I had a learning difficulty in school but this makes so much sense in my brain.Version: 2.8.2

Cost and valueI see a lot of people saying”oh it’s too expensive” it’s less expensive than Netflix, and you get to Learn a language that helps you communicate with the deaf/hard of hearing community who sign and that is worth more than being able to watch tv, something that is way more accessible, finding a deaf teacher on your own is not only difficult for some, but can be way more expensive cause they are a private tutor, what this app provides is entirely worth $12.91/month, if you can’t afford it, don’t take lessons like this right now, no harm in that:) I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn sign language.Version: 2.7.9

ShanSuch an incredible app. I love it. In the first five minutes, I was able to learn 10. Definitely recommend.Version: 2.8.3

I like it but room for improvementI do like this app, but I think there is so much room for growth. The videos are a really great way to learn (although they do stick at times, even though our internet is extremely fast.) And I love the option to slow down the videos. All that is helpful. I do think the curriculum moves VERY fast. Things only get repeated through the module and by the next one you don’t revisit the content anymore, just learn a lot of new words. Since the modules are short and done in a few minutes, it’s just a few minutes of practice before the next batch of new words is introduced. I also wish it were an option to revisit mistakes to make sure they’ve been learned from. I really love the way Duolingo approaches teaching (Repetitions, presenting the same information different ways, gamifying the experience…) I really wish they would teach ASL. By comparison this app feels bare for sure..Version: 2.2.3

Great learning toolVery easy and convenient to work through the different lessons! I wish the dictionary portion was more expansive, but my main complaint is the subscription based program. I know that’s the standard nowadays but without regular people to practice with, I lose the information quickly, so I would have to maintain a subscription “indefinitely” - and the prices make that impossible. Maybe a model where you pay that monthly rate but keep courses you completed afterwardswithout having to pay? Like keeping a textbook from a class..Version: 2.2.2

Hearing DeafI’ve always been hearing deaf never completely got to learn sign as I went to normal stream School, doing this is something I would like to learn.Version: 2.6.6

Incredibly useful and well taught! Though it’s still only.. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ..because..The reason I’m giving it three stars is nothing but to dye with that too expensive for a broke mans yearly subscription fee that it comes along with, otherwise it’s a totally amazingly well done app that teaches even a Idiot like me sign language if I can learn so can you folx! It’s truly a useful tool for me as someone who is nonverbal often due to AUDHD.. it’s a true ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to me not gonna cover it up anymore or be ashamed I loved being given a second voice through gestures for those especially muted days. 💝.Version: 2.8.5

ExcellentI knew a very slim amount of sign language but this app has helped a lot sign language is a important skill in my opinion this app is easy to use and to learn 👍.Version: 2.6.8

IncredibleThis app is incredible. And for anyone complaining about having to pay to learn a language, especially ASL, you’re delusional and ableist. I am THRILLED that I get to learn ASL on my own schedule for only $150/year! What a gift! And also to support deaf teachers in the process. Stop complaining, you entitled brats..Version: 2.7.9

Very well thoughtI love it . I think it’s a nice app. I love the fact that you can slow down the video that show you the sign cause I’m a slow learner and I must admit sign language is hard but the way the app is made it makes you practice in different way . I wish you could go back and see all the words you learn it might be already there I’m just starting to using this app so I’m gonna keep discovering this . They do a recap at the end of you learning session thats perfect for me . i love that you can reapet multiple time the sign they make sure you anderstand before learning new sign. Very very good . I would recommend to actually everybody I mean it’s such a beautiful language and it make sure that we all anderstand each other I think for me this app is gonna help me accomplish that. thank you.Version: 2.8.3

Loading problemLove this app, even paid for it because learning with it is easy and fun!! But ever since the last update, videos of signing keep on loading without any result… Without this problem it would be a 5⭐️!! Please fix it !!!.Version: 2.7.5

AmazingI am already learning some stuff and downloaded it 2 mins ago.Version: 2.6.8

Learning BSL to be more inclusiveI had been researching courses for sign language for a few months now, but due to financial difficulties I could not afford to actually do one. The add for this app just showed up in my IG and I could not be happier! As we know this world is not inclusive enough, I have read so many different stories about people not being able or willing to learn sign language even though they have family members or friends that are deaf and this is just so sad. English is not my first language, even though is not the same I know how awful I felt when people made not efforts to understand me when I was learning. I cannot even imagine what it would be like to feel that way. I would love to be able to teach my children when I have them, any type of language is a plus in my books, so if I can make at least one person feel like they are not alone and is as easy as day by day learning, then I will do it. Thank you for creating this app Cyang x.Version: 2.8.2

Great app for early learnersIt has grammar tips and easy interface, live it.Version: 2.7.9

Lost MotivationThis is a wonderful app. My reason for not giving it five stars may seem dumb, but I was really on a heavy streak and I was excited to learn. I had to pause for a few days because of work reasons but when I came back the visual progress was gone. There were something about seeing the progress that allowed me to keep going. But when it went back down to a one day streak I lost motivation. I know it’s not the best reason, but at the time it felt like it was all for nothing. The visual cues gave me a reason, motivation to keep learning —- It wasn’t the streak that motivated me. It was the visual that let me know how far I had gotten..Version: 3.0.2

AMAZING!!!!This has been such an amazing experience using this app. I have always wanted to learn asl as I think it is fascinating! I work as a nurse and surprisingly come across a lot of patients who are deaf or hearing impaired. All of the teachers on the app are amazing, Liz is my favorite and you will see her the most! I am on module 6 of the app and had my first successful shift caring for a deaf patient! We didn’t need to write down anything or use word boards for identification, we were able to communicate just with asl and he was extremely impressed, and surprised I knew asl. Such a beautiful culture that I cannot wait to learn more of and hopefully be involved in more!!!! If you’re on the fence, JUST DOWNLOAD IT!!!!.Version: 2.8.3

It’s alright..I love the app, although it definitely has room for improvements. First, enough with the premium! If your deaf and broke, your gonna have to learn sign language some how. People need to learn and I think the premium is making thing limited especially for people that need it! If you don’t want to get rid of premium that’s fine, but at least put the price down a notch. Not even some of the most popular apps are that expensive. If I can’t remember how to sign “How”, I would have to go all the way back to one of the lessons and see a bunch of stuff that I’ve already mastered. It’s really annoying that I can’t just use the dictionary, or do some other lessons. Not everyone is rich and has money to pay for premium. I feel bad for the people that actually need the help. Overall, though, the app is great with loads of lessons (even for people that don’t have premium). Although learning some lessons are really quick it still is very helpful..Version: 2.4.1

Finally! An app similar to the learning structure of Duolingo but for ASL!I have paid for three months to see what it’s like and if it would fit my needs. After a couple days going through the lessons, I can say that I really love this app. I loved Duolingo and finding another app similar to this to learn ASL was difficult until I found this app. I am absolutely going to work through this who program. The price is very comparable to other subscription apps of a similar nature, especially if you get a year subscription, which I will be switching to once I’m done the three months I’ve started with..Version: 2.7.9

Mostly AwesomeThis has really helped me keep up my ASL at a time when I can’t do classes! I appreciate the explicit instruction and opportunities for review and practice. A few cons: The app doesn’t always recognize multiple meanings for a sign. For instance, if you type “acting” instead of “theater” (same sign), it’s marked incorrect. I get that AI can only go so far. Also, there’s a glitch in the “level up” star-collecting lesson. For me, specifically in module 6. I’ve scored 100% correct but then earned no starts and then gotten a message to try again. Finally, some of the language used in connection with queer related signs is archaic at best, and offensive at worst. No queer person I know, myself included, uses the word “homosexual” in conversation. I do hope this can be changed to reflect current, respectful terminology. All in all, this is the best out there to supplement learning live from Deaf instructors / community members..Version: 2.7.6

Subscription for one year button brokenI’ve been trying to press the one year subscription button in this app since last night. I’ve tried everything. Shutting down my phone, logging out and logging back in again, deleting the app but nothing seems to work. I can press the 3 month and one month subscription and they work fine. The year button won’t work no matter what I do. I love this app but if you could fix this so I can buy a year subscription that would be great..Version: 1.1.2

Absolute MustThe format makes things a lot more exciting to learn. Giving you goals and personal feedback on your progress. Makes you want to come back to learn.Version: 3.0.2

WowThis app is great. Its very helpful and doesn’t pester you to buy premium. 👏.Version: 2.8.2

Loved the free partI really enjoyed the free part however it is quite expensive if you want to continue on, unfortunately I can’t afford the monthly or annuals so had to pause my learning for now..Version: 2.7.9

Newbie FriendlyI just finished Lesson 1 & I’m thoroughly enjoying this ASL app. To me, signing can be very intimidating because I feel people sign at warp speed..the clever & beauty of this app is that it has a “Turtle” icon/button to turn on if you want more clarity in the hand movements. Also, these lessons can help me support the special needs classrooms I work in..& may also help give some of the students a “safe” way to communicate their basic needs & wants. I’m excited to continue my ASL learning & education. 💕 Thank you, Lingvano!!🫶🏼.Version: 3.0.5

FantasticAwesome app! A bit expensive with 18 a month. Would have maybe thought 18 total. Guess it gives extra incentive to finish it quickly though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We have been learning ASL for a while and knew the beginning signs that are taught. This app is allowing me to see how sentences are structured though. Which is mostly what I've been looking for. Reminds me a lot of an ASL version of Duo. Which is perfect. Thank you for creating it. We've been learning because of our ministry work and I personally feel it's my responsibility to learn ASL in general. Those that are hard of hearing can only do so much to communicate with the hearing. And they do very well- but I have it in my power to learn to communicate with them. So I should. And this app makes it very easy. Thank you..Version: 1.1

This app is amazingYou wanna know why it’s because you can learn my language for free like that’s the best part of it you should download it right now as soon as possible!!! This app is literally amazing!!!!.Version: 3.0.2

Learning ASL | BeginnerHello! I came from the app to write this review. As a teenager who is trying to learn ASL for self knowledge, and for communication with those who are not hearing so far this app has been extremely helpful. It gives the choice of "mirroring" which is the button to the left of the person signing. I love it! Everything shown and typed on the app is accurate. Not only does it teach you the signs and how to sign them, but it explains specific things thoroughly about ASL. So I 100% give this a 5 star rating and think if you are a beginner trying to learn ASL from scratch, this app is the perfect app for you!.Version: 2.5.7

It’s good!I love it so much I learn new stuff everyday!.Version: 3.0.5

Best ASL app availableThis app is the single best ASL app I’ve found. From the videos being easy to follow, the actual grammar lessons instead of just rattling off words, the options to slow down videos and split screen the camera so you can follow along. The dictionary option is great when you need to brush up on a few words or when you’re translating with someone real time and the vocab trainer is great for daily use to make sure you’re training in all the material. Not to mention that Mano is adorable and the reminders and feedback it gives you are actually encouraging instead of slightly menacing (looking at that creepy green owl we’ve all tried) premium is a thing to unlock all of the content but honestly I don’t even think about it just bc of how worth it it is. I never subscribe to app things but this such a great value that it’s really no question.Version: 3.0.1

Seems goodThe lessons are informative and easy to understand, even for me.Version: 3.0.2

Yay, finally a Lingvano iOS app!I tried some of the learn sign language / ASL apps on the store and they ranged from not great to “ok”. I found Lingvano online and was hesitant to subscribe to a service just through a website but it turned out to be the right choice. Their product was good and their teachers are good. The guy doesn’t sign as clearly but it’s good real world practice, but the main lady is great and watching the dialog between the two is super helpful. Their lessons test you as best they can without having a teacher actually seeing you sign. Multiple choice, reading dialog, and quizzing you on ASL concepts and rules. If this all translates into the app, it will be the best ASL app on the App Store because the content is great. If not I will update my review with what needs improvement, but their lessons are top notch! Very high quality. My only current critique is I really wish this was an iPad app, but hey it’s better than nothing. Really looking forward to using it and being able to manage my subscription via my Apple account..Version: 1.0

InterestingI have to say so far the app is really good I haven’t found an app like this one. I’m more of a virtual learner and this did the job. The reason I want to learn sign language because I was never taught this language in high school or at my university I wanted to try something new. Found it interesting being a ale to learn sign language there’s soo many deaf individuals in this world where it’s hard for people to even understand and I want to be one of those people to learn a different language that is not used as often as it should be. So far the app is wonderful love the face expression is your looking for something virtual this is for you. Hope this help..Version: 2.7.1

Landscape view neededI downloaded this app to my tablet so that I could prop the screen up and see the signs and then use the mirror feature more easily. I was very disappointed to learn that it has the same view as on my phone. I had really hoped that I could take advantage of the larger screen to see things more clearly, and more comfortably use the app. How am I supposed to practice using my hands if I can’t prop my screen up easily? My neck gets tired looking down at it. Other than the view limitation, however, I am loving the app! It works well for my learning style, and I am finding myself making progress quickly. I’m also remembering the signs much more easily than when I took in person classes. The repetition schedule is perfect for me!.Version: 2.8.4

EhhWell basically it’s great and I do know asl so it’s a little hard to understand this app and I don’t want to half to pay for it but of course it’s how you make your money so it isn’t why I am not crazy about this app. It’s just not what I’m looking for and if you are looking for something to learn asl I don’t think you should get it because it’s SUPER HARD TO UNDERSTAND and the letters of the alphabet and it almost makes them look WRONG!!!! So I don’t think it’s a great app and some people from other reviews are maybe learning asl wrong and don’t think they are! PLEASE FIX THIS APP!!!!😫😫😫😫.Version: 2.2.3

Essential tool for helpingTbh I have wanted to learn bsl for a long time as I have always been amazed by sign language and people who have the ability to include deaf people in conversations so now I have this I can really brush up on my sign language and start using it properly. This seems like something that should be taught in school but I understand that they don’t do this is the next best thing and tbh it’s a great wee app.Version: 2.8.1

Sign LanguageThe first ever time I saw someone sign was in elementary school and I was fascinated by sign language. I never perused sign so much until I was in my late 20s. I had a daughter and my wife and I taught our daughter baby sign language. She is 3 and a half, currently and can hear and speak but she still uses the baby sign language her mom and I taught her. It’s absolutely amazing. During the first 3 1/2 years other than the baby sign language I never continued to learn more sign language. Until now. I have only had this app for 2 days now. I took the first few things I had learnt in this app and the next day I was telling my coworkers all about this app and how it truly works. This app helps in so many ways. You are able to focus on your hands. The movement. Being able to understand. It’s pure beauty. If there is ever any doubt in your mind about wanting to learn something new, I highly recommend giving it a shot. You won’t regret it!.Version: 3.0.2

Great app but you could do better.Starting to learn sign language and this app is very good for that. Definitely one of the best out there, but when you cross compare this app to Duolingo that you pay pretty much the same amount for every year there is definitely more engagement with the app like the competitions and leaderboards doing that kind of stuff can really help keep the user engaged. An update on that would be great..Version: 2.8.3

Update to my previous reviewI’ve been using the app daily for almost two months now, and I really like it. One feature that would be helpful is the ability to *speed up* the videos of signing, especially of fingerspelled words and numbers. Accomplished ASL users go so quickly, and that’s something the training options currently don’t let you replicate. (You do have the option to slow down the speed.).Version: 3.0.3

Perfect for all abilitiesI tried to learn BSL using a Level 1 online for free and honestly I really struggled. I felt like I was learning vocab but not how to create any sentences. My girlfriend is deaf with Cochlear Implants and I wanted us to be able to communicate easier when she hasn’t got them on. After two days I’m already able to use signs as I talk and do simple sentences, it isn’t much but it’s the most progress I’ve made in a while! Absolutely love this app.Version: 2.6.8

ASLSo far I have had a great time learning with this app and I didn’t even buy premium so far 5 stars!.Version: 3.0.2

Abt this appI love this app because I know a lot of deaf people.Version: 2.8.6

SO FUNIt is so good. It helped me learn sign language and works amazing.Version: 3.0.2

Great app!Easy to navigate and makes learning ASL easy and accessible..Version: 3.0.2

Love this app, could take some hints from DuolingoI like this app a ton, I’ve been learning ASL but have struggled to keep up with things the past few months and this app has helped. However, as someone who aready knew a bit of ASL, I wish this app had a placement test so that I didn’t spend weeks learning the basics and could skip ahead to what I don’t know. The price is also a bit steep when comparing this to free learning apps like Duolingo. I would be willing to pay as I understand this is a high quality learning modality for a unique language, but $5-$8 a month is more reasonable. Hopefully as time goes on the price goes down..Version: 2.8.4

Effective and engaging!I thought BSL would be an important skill to have in my back pocket, as I used to learn it in school to interact with a part time pupil and have tried to accommodate deaf customers in my workplaces. This app has me wizzing through words and phrases at warp speed, but I will have to count my pennies before I can even think about learning past the first lesson. You won’t find learning this effective for free, I assure you there’s a reason it’s got a fee, but I’d love to survive the cost of living crisis while also developing this essential skill beyond the free trial..Version: 2.8.1

GreatI have only done the first session and have already learnt so much! Before downloading Lingvano I had only know very slim BSL! Would recommend!xXx.Version: 2.6.9

Amazing Sign language appI was reading a book about a deaf person and a hearing person and I was brought BSL/ASL and I thought to myself deeply I should learn BSL as it fascinates me a lot and I started using this app and it’s great it really helps you a lot and I know I won’t give up on BSL as if I ever encounter a deaf person or someone who uses BSL than it would be very helpful and I want to be able to talk and understand them and I want anyone who uses BSL to be comfortable when communicating with me!.Version: 2.7.9

Best app ever ❤️ ❤️ ❤️When I first got the app I was like this is gonna be so dumb but then I kept on doing it and kept on doing it and it was so much fun. I have learned so many new sign language things that I did not know before and it’s a good thing, because my friend is deaf, so I can talk to her where she can’t hear what I’m saying with my mouth but she can hear what I’m saying with my hands and I think that’s awesome support, deaf people deaf pride always and if somebody’s death, don’t make fun of them and don’t say anything rude to them and be nice and if you know sign language, then sign to them 😘💕😁✨🫶.Version: 3.0.2

🤩AMAZING FOR LEARNING ASL🤩I’ve tried my entire life to learn ASL and nothing ever really stuck with me. The lessons were somewhat simple but I just couldn’t get it to stick. This app is INCREDIBLE! It repeats the signs over and over so you’re guaranteed to grasp it. It has you fill in the words for what they’re signing, has you recap before moving onto the next lesson and even allows you to slow down the signs if they’re moving too fast for you to see properly. I’ve learned more ASL with this app in 2 days than I have my entire 28 years of life..Version: 3.0.2

Amazing for people who want to learn!I’ve always wanted to learn ASL and this app has been amazing so far! Super easy and interactive, I can’t wait to see how much I can learn!.Version: 2.6.9

READ THISA lot of people are complaining that it is very expensive to learn using this app. the truth is, that’s the way it is, Duolingo it has ads, or you pay equal amount to remove them. ASL is a complex language and it is well worth the money if you are actually investing in learning the language properly, it costs much less than lessons so really take a moment to think about all the work that goes in to this app before you say it is too expensive..Version: 2.7.7

Pretty goodIt’s a lot like duolingo! The one thing I would like to see is a more close up and detailed look at the hands for the signs instead of just the sign in fast and slow..Version: 2.8.6

ENJOY? YES! Big time! What an effective sign language (SL) learning app! First off, the three language options: ASL, British SL and Austrian SL! An immediate lesson of its own that ASL is not a universal language. I’m on the ASL lessons. The progression of the material covers complex concepts comprehensively. I’ve taken ASL classes a long time ago and if this app had existed, it would have been a great homework assignment to carry on the practice of material outside of class. Plus, seeing different signers in the app on top of what is taught in ASL classes is beneficial for students. I could keep going with my love for this app but I want to get back to completing my latest lesson!.Version: 3.0.2

Great appI’ve been learning to sign because my sibling has ASD and it helps them follow conversation better and I’ve been using websites online and a few paid courses but nothing felt like it was sticking. I think this was down to a lack of engagement in terms of interactivity. I like that the app is interactive. It functions much like another well known language app with a mascot I use which is great because it makes me relax knowing I understand how to progress. I like the encouragement this app brings and I like the turtle button to slow down the videos should I need it. I feel that the conversation videos are a great way to give confidence showing you can follow and interact with others in sign language. The mirror tool is perfect for practicing facial expressions and hand movements together..Version: 3.0.2

Amazing appI love this app and the style of lessons (like Duolingo) I wish it had ads or another way to continue without paying yet still supporting the app for free users When I am able to I will support this app and learn beyond the first few lessons :).Version: 2.7.9

Engaging and well pricedThis is a wonderful app so far, I like that they have Deaf people teaching, I’ve found it to be an engaging learning format and very clear. The price is absolutely reasonable, if you were to take an ASL class at a university it would be upwards of $400. If you think that this education should be freely given and are upset at being asked to pay I invite you to self reflect on why you feel entitled to the time and effort that went into this app for free. If you cannot afford it, look into community projects that offer this at a lower cost or free community classes but don't expect people to not be compensated for their work. Great app!.Version: 2.7.9

New to signFirst time ever trying to learn, great content and easy to follow. Can go back over as often as want.Version: 2.7.9

100!I absolutely love this app! I have in tunnel hearing loss which means I can hear out of one ear and I can’t hear out of the other. When I was a child I only knew so little of sign language and then when I got older I stopped using sign language because I got use to reading lips and having people talk loud so I can hear. Now as an adult my ears are getting worse and worse as I get older and I’m wanting to learn sign language so I can still communicate with my family and others. I already learned so much in just 10 minutes. I didn’t know how easy it can be to learn sign languages thank you for coming up with this app!! 😁.Version: 3.0.2

Great app just very priceyWhat I said in the subject line^.Version: 2.8.6

AmazingI love this so much. Being able to sign and learn new stuff, and re learn stuff I’ve missed, I love it!!.Version: 2.8.6

Great appI’ve tried to learn BSL other ways but this course is easy to follow and the app features are great. I like that there’s a dictionary so if I need a specific word that I haven’t been taught yet I can look it up..Version: 2.7.9

Amazing! The design of this app is very pleasing, and I love the way the videos repeat so I have time to practice. Im excited to continue learning!.Version: 3.0.2

Absolutely love thisI’ve been really interested in learning sign language but haven’t found a course that really teaches how to actually communicate not just show me some signs. This does just that! I love the dialog bits where you can see them signing a conversation to each other. Some signs are a bit hard to make out when you just have the front view but I just pull out my other app “sign for me” to clarify it and it works out well. You do have to pay a subscription to make it worth it. But it’s not unreasonable and you can’t expect them to make and maintain an awesome education app for free..Version: 1.0.1

Make it so you can choose the person on screen.Great app but make it so you can change the person on screen. For whatever reason this dude with freakishly long/sharp fingernails is now teaching me to sign. And i can’t stand him..Version: 3.0.5
