MacroFactor - Macro Tracker for Positive User Reviews

Great AppMy preferred app for calorie and macro tracking and coaching. Dynamic, adaptive and simple. Fantastic app..Version: 1.3.12

Loving MacroFactorAs someone who has yo-yo’d weight wise over the years and has been using on and off My Fitness Pal for the last 20 years, I never thought I’d switch over or pay for calorie counting. But I wanted to focus more on my macros and find something much more sustainable than what I’d previously been doing; which was log religiously then lose interest and stop for a while. My husband heard about it on a podcast and has been siding it since September last year and has lost weight with it and found it has really helped so I thought I’d give it a go too. It is so clever the amount of information it gives you and takes the emotional rollercoaster away from calorie counting with the trend weight being the most important factor. I’ve not been using it long but I love it so far and it’s definitely worth the money. I feel like I’ve not felt hungry once, definitely a result of more protein, I’ve not felt restricted and lost weight. I’m taking it week by week and a day at a time but I’m excited to be able to look back over a year and see how far I’ve come. Thank you 🙌🏻.Version: 2.5.9

Finally, food logging that worksI’ve been using this app for about two weeks now and I’m very impressed. Previously I had used the free version of my fitness pal and it was just too much effort and I never had much confidence in the data it was throwing out given the matches and portion sizes were never close. This app had dedicated databases, including for Australia. The barcode scanning is just fantastic and super quick. I’ve cross checked the data it populates against the back of the packet and I’ve not caught them out. One other major feature is the dynamic portion sizes - imperial v metric etc. This is a huge advantage over other apps. The copy / paste function is excellent and I use it all the time. Also changing time stamps is very intuitive. The coached program seems quite good although I need more time using it. I’ve linked it to my scales and other health apps and I like the way it writes data over to Apple health as well. The weight trend mapping v scale weight is good too. I’ve watched a lot of Jeff Nippard’s videos and his science based approach to strength and nutrition seems to have flowed through to many aspects of the app and it gives you confidence in recommendations the app is giving you. I like the little links that show you the methodology and science between different app metrics. I can’t recommend the app enough to be honest - it’s so good and worth every penny..Version: 2.0.4

Love it more than I expected to!I was a long-time user of Cronometer and hold a disdain for subscription business models. That’s just to say I have really high standards for things I’ll accept recurring charges for, and I’ve been blown away by MacroFactor! It’s so intuitive to use and the goal setting features are both accurate and helpful, and they are constantly improving the app. I’m so impressed with the team behind this, when my 2 week trial was up I happily paid for another year. I consider it a bargain (especially when you include how much free content they offer through the Stronger by Science blog & podcast!). This app offers incredible value for people tracking their nutrition for any reason, and the adherence-neutral nature of it makes it delightful to use compared to others. 10/10 & keep it up!! :).Version: 1.5.5

Converted from myfitness palAfter MFP has made their scan barcode feature a paid service I’ve switched over and I am very impressed!.Version: 1.4.4

Accurate AccountabilityFor context, I am a peri-menopausal, chronically underweight former dancer, whose goal it is to compete in a bodybuilding competition. And I avoid apps! For the past year-and-a-half, I had been manually tracking my food in Numbers, guessing at my caloric requirements, circling days of my (wildly fluctuating) periods on tiny paper calendars that I kept tucked in my training book, and maintaining progress photos and metrics in separate folders on my laptop. Macrofactor--which I gifted myself last Christmas--obviated the need for ALL OF THAT. The ease of tracking (everything!) and staying accountable to my goals has been so worth the paid subscription. I am seeing the needle gradually move in the right direction on the scale without the usual panic that accompanied it (as someone who always wanted to be small instead of strong). I am motivated to be as accurate as possible with weighing food and my weight so that the Macrofactor algorithm can do its thing. Just a few days of exploring all the great features in the App, and it's now second nature to use. I highly, highly recommend this tool if you have specific goals and want to be as accurately accountable as possible. I've enjoyed the building process, and Macrofactor helps to make it even more enjoyable..Version: 2.5.9

The pinnacle of tracking appsThis app is brilliant. Finally some accurate figures and the ability to track nutrients is unbelievable. Easy to use and the food timeline is fantastic. The graphs on the interface are easy to see any variation. The only downfall i can find is the barcode scanner is not so great for AU users just yet..Version: 1.0.4

The only app that made me switch from MtFitnessPalThis is actually the best app on the market for nutrition. Very easy to log any food and great algorithms for weight tracking and loss. The only problem I have is that it doesn’t have feature for tracking your menstrual cycle which is very important for a woman..Version: 2.3.1

It’s GreatI tried this previously and it didn’t work for me. Decided to give it another go as I was getting frustrated with the app I was using and this time it’s working great. I’m losing g a ton of weight and I’m confident it will help me maintain once I reach my target. The help desk is also just that - helpful and responsive..Version: 2.5.15

Lost a bunch of weight, got some gainsAs the title says. This is a lot better than MFP. Really helps to hit your macros..Version: 1.6.9

Advanced nutritional science meets intuitive design!Having tried a few different nutrition trackers, MacroFactor blew me away with its intuitive design. The app is simple to use but contains a treasure trove of nutritional science and statistics, if you enjoy that kind of stuff. It's easy to add recipes and new food items, though the existing food catalog is still growing. What's most impressive is the Strategy tab, which helps you build a custom program for your personal nutrition goals in seconds. With the help of charts and figures, you can see exactly how your macros are broken down, and over the weeks and months the app responds to changes in your weight, and tweaks your program to optimize results. The only downside is that it requires all of your food data in order to keep things on track; only partially logging a day's meals leads to inaccurate projections, so this app is really only for folks who don't mind logging everything..Version: 2.2.14

Amazing App!I NEVER leave reviews for applications as they typically don’t “wow” me. However, this application does and it goes beyond my expectations!! First of all, everything is completely straightforward when logging food and if the food I’m logging isn’t there, I can create a new food item and add it. I love the fact that the application doesn’t create any stressors when I forget to log my food. This actually encourages me to keep logging it as I’m not pinged or anything of that sort when I miss a day of logging. Furthermore, I love how active MacroFactors social media pages are and LOVE the newsletters! I definitely read them and they help me with using the application/improving my usage on it. I love the weekly check ins and having my macros adjust based on how I’ve ate that week, it’s so helpful and gives me numerous insights as to my eating habits. This application is definitely worth the money and I’ll continue using this service 👍.Version: 2.5.15

Much better than MFPI’m a long time user of MFP but have now completely switched over to this. It’s much better because it does not include any unnecessary rubbish, it just focuses on tracking macros and does it really well. One feature I’d love to see though is a dashboard screen for the key micro nutrients (eg fibre, sugar and salt) so they can be monitored. Currently this is not possible, but the data is obviously tracked so hopefully wouldn’t be too hard to add. Great app though and would definitely recommend.Version: 1.6.16

Very happy with this app, already made great progress!!I’ve been using the app for almost 6 months now. It accurately gives me a picture of my calorie deficit everyday. I made great progress by using this app everyday, as well as learned a lot about calorie tracking and my body. I honestly don’t know how I would’ve reached my goals without it. Thank you!!.Version: 2.2.10

Helpful and simpleI love the simple design and easy to use features..Version: 1.6.7

A step up from the competitionThis app has made a huge step forward from the likes of myfitnesspal. It is fantastic to be able to see averages over a week, average calorie surplus/deficit from tdee not just from your “goal”. Since the update to the food database I haven’t found many items are missing which as a UK user is very refreshing as I found MFP often lacking or having the US version of foods with generally greater calories. My suggestion to improve it would be to add a “how are you feeling today” button allowing you to include things like sleep, tiredness/soreness, energy levels so that the macro adjustments can take into account the human side of nutrition. For example I found that I (as a 100kg fairly muscular late 20s male on a cut) was pushed down to 1500 calories to try to keep hitting the goal weight loss. Taking charge and increasing my calories back to 2100 has restarted my weight loss and improved the quality of my training..Version: 1.2.8

Game changer!Very easy and friction free to use, science based and transparent and what is for me a comprehensive food database. It’s a game changer for me to track my calories and macros!.Version: 1.6.7

Nutrition Label ScanningThe latest update, which included nutrition label scanning, makes this app the best calorie counting app for Australians. Australian products have specific nutrition labels and barcodes. This means many of the major calorie counting apps fail to recognize Australian products. This is horrible, as it requires you to edit and manually enter product items. Nutrition label scanning changes this. You can scan Australian product labels directly generating a new food item with precision and without manual data entry. I already loved the best in-class look and feel of the UI, and data visualision in MacroFactor. Now with the addition of nutrition label scanning MacroFactor is, in my opinion, best in-class for calorie counting apps overall..Version: 2.5.9

Best app on the market for fitness goals!I couldn't have asked for a much better app, what also makes this app so great is you can tell the creators and editors put a lot of effort into tweaking the app in our best interests. I really hope they keep this up and it never changes the way things are going! Its only going to get better if they keep this up :).Version: 1.6.14

OutstandingAmazing app. The algorithm to adjust calories macro targets as you progress is a real game changer. Absolutely blows myfitnesspal out of the water. Well worth the annual subscription. Only thing that could improve it would be a tasty little widget for easy view of targets on the go..Version: 1.6.14

Almost there?Awesome app. It’s super easy to use and makes food logging way more convenient and I’m able see my macros right in the main screen. The only issue I have is that it seems to currently lack integration with Apple Health so whenever I use my BT scale the app doesn’t directly get my weight and BF% from Apple health. It also doesn’t take into account calories burned from my recorded workouts. However, I understand this app is still being worked on so I can’t wait to see what improvements will be made. EDIT: Ok I just noticed another feature that is pretty awesome. This app seems to “remember” what you ate at a certain time on previous days. So if you’re logging a breakfast that doesn’t change day to day, it’s literally just a few quick taps and it’s all logged. Update 2: they have a food label scan now so you don’t have to input each individual macro in when you scan a new food. Absolute game changer. I love this feature..Version: 2.5.15

Helping me lose weightGenuinely finding this so helpful!.Version: 2.1.2

Best fitness tool yetThis app is by far the best tracker yet. I’ve been using MyFitnessPal for years and as soon as I used the trial I switched. Way more metrics, looks better, and is cheaper. I have log books for everything and MacroFactor is likely going to replace ALL of them..Version: 2.5.9

Took a leap of faithI had a dad bod and always wanted to look ripped. Lifted weights using another app but couldn't shed body fat without loosing my gains. So I started asking what are my personal caloric needs? I couldn't find the answer but randomly saw a weight lifting thread and people were recommending tracking macros. I used another tracking app for a week and hated it but decided to give MacroFactor a try, since someone on that thread loved it. After a week of using it I decided to pay for a year because it was so easy to use. So far, in 6 months, I first cut 10lbs, and clean bulked about 3 lbs. Through the cut I maintained my gains and learned a ton about the crap I was putting in my body and the nutritional value it has/doesn't have. So... Used this app on a whim, trusted it to do its thing, tracked everything, and I've never been stronger and leaner in my life. Thanks MF!!!.Version: 2.2.14

Tried them all. MacroFactor is #1Wish I had more time to write a proper review but I’ll just say, I tried a few of the competitors over the years. Nothing was wrong with them, but MF just feels superior. Not just the tracking, but the helpful weightlifting and fitness types backed by science. I love it..Version: 2.5.9

Best macro app everTried a bunch, this one works great for athletes who aren’t completely psychotic and don’t meal plan every day.Version: 1.6.2

AwesomePretty good, loving it.Version: 1.5.7

Kudos to the developersThis is not the most perfect calorie and nutrient tracking app but very close to one. What stands out is that the developers have a public roadmap for improvement where you can submit suggestions or vote on features you’d like to see. They’re actively dedicated to improving the functionality of the app based on user feedback. MyFitnessPal has been around for years and is a decent tool for tracking calories and nutrients but its features have remained pretty much stagnant over time. MacroFactor is only going to get better the longer you use it and it already has more useful features than MyFitnessPal. When I first started MacroFactor it I found the UI a bit more difficult to navigate than MyFitnessPal, however this is just a short learning curve you’ll have to get past. Use it for a couple of weeks and that will cease to be an issue..Version: 2.5.9

Finally able to lose weightI have been using the app consistently for the past couple of months and the flexibility and feedback that it provides is essential for me. I have tried for years to find a system that allows for me to achieve my goals in fat loss and this app has been amazing. I love how it calculates your energy expenditure and will show you all of this data based on the data you input (your weight and macro tracking). I find all of this data motivating and when I feel like I don’t want to stay on track I can always look at how far I have gotten and how if I just keep doing what I’m doing, I’ll achieve my goals. Really love how the app was developed and how they put the foods you mostly eat at the top when going to log them. This is by far the best app for both tracking and coaching that I’ve ever used..Version: 2.4.0

EXCEPTIONAL!!Hey there! I just had to share my thoughts on the MacroFactor app because it has been a total game-changer for me when it comes to understanding what I eat. Seriously, this app has been a lifesaver, taking away all my worries and anxiety about not knowing how much I'm actually consuming. I am absolutely in love with it! First off, let me just say that the MacroFactor app is super easy to use. The interface is so friendly and intuitive, you won't believe it. Everything is nicely organized, and I found myself navigating through the app effortlessly. Right from the moment I opened it, I was greeted with this visually appealing layout that instantly got me motivated to take control of my nutrition. Okay, let's talk about the best part: tracking your food. With MacroFactor, it's a piece of cake. You can log your meals, snacks, and drinks in a snap. They've got this extensive food database, so you can find pretty much anything you're munching on. But here's where MacroFactor takes things up a notch. It's not just about counting calories. This app breaks down your intake into carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. So you get a clear picture of your macros, and let me tell you, that's been a total eye-opener for me. I can see exactly what my meals are made of, and it's helped me make smarter choices about what I put on my plate. Plus, they've got these neat graphs and charts that show your macros in a way that even I can understand. It's like a nutrition lesson without the boredom! It isn't just about tracking and numbers. It's also got these awesome articles, tips, and tricks to help you learn more about nutrition. It's like having a personal coach right in your pocket, giving you all the info you need to make better decisions. And get this—they even give you personalized recommendations based on your goals. It's like they know exactly what you need to succeed! they've got this cool integration thing going on. So if you've got a fitness tracker or any other health apps, it all syncs up seamlessly. It's like having a big ol' health hub where you can see everything in one place. To sum it all up, MacroFactor has been a total game-changer for me. It's made tracking my nutrition a breeze and taken away all the stress and guesswork. I can't recommend this app enough if you want to get a clear understanding of what you're eating and crush your dietary goals. Seriously, check it out—it's like having a nutrition expert right in your pocket. You're gonna love it!.Version: 2.1.5

Australian FriendlyWas a little hesitant initially as to whether or not to purchase based on the availability of Australian food data. No issues at all with a comprehensive range of Australian food data incorporated. The app is very good, and extremely intuitive, thanks team.Version: 1.6.16

Ahead of the curveI don’t usually write reviews but I felt with Macro Factor I had to give credit where credit is due. With recent updates from myfitnesspal it made me want to look elsewhere. MacroFactor does everything myfitnesspal does 100X better and the thing that stands out for me is the algorithm that will help you find your maintenance and help you achieve you fitness goals. It’s definitely helped me on my cut and I won’t be going back. Go Science!.Version: 1.5.4

MacroFactor does everything it’s competitors do (and more), but better.MacroFactor is what happens when some really smart people take an honest look at their competition, absorb what is useful, discard what isn’t, and add what is uniquely their own. Taking inspiration from apps such as MyFitnessPal, Chronometer, Carbon, and RP Diet, MacroFactor does everything these competitors do (and more), but better. Whether your goal is to gain, maintain, or lose weight, prepare to feel empowered with a level of dietary precision that you never thought to be possible. Even better, enjoy the flexibility that the app provides in moving towards your goals without being made to feel bad about deviations from the plan, big or small. If weight fluctuations have ever robbed you any peace of mind, MacroFactor’s weight trending feature will restore it. This app sought to be the best and (for myself at least) it’s accomplished that very thing. I cannot recommend MacroFactor enough. The team behind it is continually looking for ways to make it even better and they are highly responsive. Take control of your diet or general nutrition with MacroFactor, your only regret will be that you didn’t start sooner..Version: 1.0.7

THIS is the definitive macro tracking app!Honestly the most remarkable app I’ve ever used. This is the first time I’ve wanted to fork over my money before the free trial has even finished. I’ve been talking excitedly with people about this app, how easy it is to use, how clever and FAST it is. I love everything about it. THIS is the definitive macro tracking app!.Version: 2.5.7

Fun to Use, Masterfully Crafted AppI don’t typically review apps on the App Store. I’m compelled to write this one. I’ve used this app for 7 days, coming from using MyFitnessPal for over 7 years. This is by far the more fun app to use. It lacks some nutritional data for niche food items that MFP may have, but more than makes up for it in usability and design. It’s a masterful display of the developer’s deep understanding of the user’s intent. It feels like you want a tracking app to feel which is so key to remaining consistent with nutrition planning and tracking. So far, this feels like my favorite “Mom and Pop” app, if you will. As a data person and fitness enthusiast, I have been super impressed with the quality of the data that gets shown and how it gets shown. It also feels like the tip of the iceberg, since the app appears to evolve and become more useful from a data standpoint as I progress toward my goals (with the dynamic coaching feature, for example). Excited to see that unfold. Happy to pay for an app that delivers. And this one does. Thank you for building a solid product..Version: 2.0.11

Beats MyFitnessPal on all frontsBeen using for 1 week - what a fantastic App; wish I made the switch from MFP earlier. Already lost 4 pounds (from 205 to 201)…feeling great. MacroFactor’s features, food database, userfriendliness, and overall experience are simply awesome. Highly recommended!!!.Version: 2.0.4

Best app for tracking & insightsA week using this app, and I can already say it’s the most complete one I tried for both tracking and deep insights. UI can seem overwhelming at first, but once you get a grasp it’s really the best. Have yet to see how the “algorithm” works as I just used it for a week. Cons: • Slight more expensive than my current app (Calorie Counter) • Barcode scanner doesn’t recognise all foods in the UK yet. But not a biggie if you cooking and eating mainly whole food.Version: 2.5.15

Best Tracking App PeriodI took advantage of the two week trial promotion and like it so much I’m paying for the year. It’s hard to describe why this works so much better than MyFitnessPal but it does. After two weeks I’ve lost 3 lbs after being stuck for 6 months. To be fair I was only mentally tracking those 6 months but I’ve used MyFitnessPal for 4+ months in the past and didn’t see such quick results. The biggest win for me is the complete delivery on the promise I don’t have to think about anything while the app goes out of its way not to judge me. After entering my weight, goals, and macro balance preference my only involvement is entering my daily weight and food. I go over all the time and it doesn’t seem to matter. Seriously can’t wait to try this in a bulk. Maybe I’ll have my first successful one ever. Now, SBS team, go turn Greg’s programming into an app to compete with Juggernaut AI so I can give you more money and Greg’s brain can get me strong and shredded while I think deep thoughts about grilling, golf and software architecture instead. Just kidding. I’ll be getting screamed at by two baby boys while desperately trying to survive..Version: 1.2.4

Intuitive & SleekReally impressed by the performance, user design and experience. Joyful to use this app. Would be great to integrate an exercise log in a future - although perhaps that would not align with overall vision of the app. Good work!.Version: 2.1.5

Just worksI found it a few days to get used to, but this app quickly becomes intuitive. More importantly, it does what it claims to do extremely well..Version: 1.5.7

Add photos to food journalingPlease add an ability to add photos to food journaling.Version: 2.2.10

Great app, but UI feels clutteredThere’s a lot to love about this app in regards to how flexible it is, but I have some gripes about some of the UI decisions that makes certain actions feel clunky. Sometimes when I’m planning my meals, I’ll search for the items to look at what the macros might be. When I remove those items and am not logging anything, I have to swipe the menu down and then tap the X in the top left to go back to the timeline. I wish the bottom tab navigation was still there so I could tap on the Food Log tab to easily go back. Also when I’m looking at my weight trends, I feel like I should have the functionality to be able to enter my weight in that section, but I can’t. I have to go back and then press the plus sign to do so. The menus have so many options for flexibility which is great, but I wish they did a better job of organizing them so there wasn’t SO MUCH to navigate through..Version: 1.6.15

Intuitive and flexibleI’ve dieted successfully in the past using both RP’s diet app and just tracking things myself in excel, but as a result of some uncertainty and anxiety about changing TDEE targets I have regularly tended to cut too hard, leaving myself feeling burnt out, and forced myself into a diet that’s unsustainably strict in the longer term. I’m a month in with macrofactor and it’s really helped address both problems. The adaptive TDEE and weight trend features have helped calm a lot of my anxieties about short term plateaus and small upward spikes in weight, and allowed me to maintain a smaller calorie deficit thats far less draining while still trending downward. The food database and barcode scanner has made it much easier for me to track accurately, and the daily macro targets offer me enough structure to be useful but not so much that I feel the need to meticulously plan every meal and snack. Overall, best diet tracking app I’ve tried..Version: 1.2.7

Best science-based nutrition trackingThis is the best macro-focused and science-based nutrition tracking app available right now. It’s amazing the app is only a year old! One of the biggest features is the flexibility. Rather than logging food to a meal, it’s only logged to a timeline for the day. This provides more flexibility for eating and encourages you to track accurately. This is unlike other apps I’ve used, which log to meals, creating a pressure to only eat 3-4 rigid, calorie locked meals per day. Macrofactor is very flexible, provides accurate data, and easy to use, making it easy to create a habit of tracking. And because physique change is about consistency, Macrofactor makes it easier to achieve my goals..Version: 1.5.2

Must have appIf you have any nutrition oriented goals, you can’t go wrong with this app. As a developper, i can’t understated how good the UI is, how the application/work flow just works perfectly and how incredibly feature rich MacroFactor is. I’ve seen another review saying that if you’re Canadian, a lot of bar codes are not registered in their food catalog. I can’t say that i agree on that, i find most food and when i have a specific brand that i can’t find, i can always go for the generic unbranded version. There’s even a feature to scan the food label with your camera which auto fills a new food entry. Tracking marcos really can’t be much more smooth than that. The level of analysis on all the data you feed into this app is also incredible, i don’t think i could get a much better nutrition plan with a professional. After a year+ of using it, i continuously progressing towards my goals and have had no regrets about paying the subscription..Version: 2.5.15

Winning. This is the best macro & nutrient tracking app that I’ve ever used. As a developer I am constantly impressed with the intuitive functionality and depth that this app reaches. It is seamless, incredibly well thought out and a great experience all round. Thank you MacroFactor, and please if you’re ever looking for more developers- contact me 😅 Cheers!.Version: 2.2.15

The bestThis is BY FAR the best calorie tracking app there is. There is so much information available to you but given in a way that makes it easy to understand and not overwhelming at all. Well done..Version: 2.5.15

Great appI love the app. It would also be great to have some widgets for the tracked habits.Version: 1.6.7

Lost 17kg 😁I used this app a couple of years ago and it helped me lose 17kg in about a year. I regained 4kg after I stopped using the app, so I’ve started using it again to help me lose a few kilos before the summer. It’s easy to use. It works well at scanning most food barcodes in the UK. If it doesn’t find the barcode, it can scan the food label to make it easy to add foods yourself. I highly recommend it for anyone trying to track calories and macros..Version: 2.5.15

Game-changerThis is a game changer in food / tracking / nutrition apps. It’s simple. Weigh yourself at the same time daily, be honest with your tracking and set a goal of cut, maintain or gain. Science tells the truth!.Version: 1.5.1

Used to be betterI have used this since 2021, then I didn't use the app last year, then started the subscription again last week. Adding food got very annoying and worse than before. First, it is not possible to move the added food item between different time with dragging anymore. When I move multiple items this is more annoying. Second, I was trying to add certain item to different day/time not ‘today’, so after searching the food, set day/time, then clicked ‘log to data and time’ then just canceled whatever I was doing instead of logging my food items. The app got more difficult to use than before, now I regret that I got 1 year subscription. I trusted my precious good experience but apparently the app got worse and annoyingly changed..Version: 2.5.15

Better than other trackersI‘ve been using MyFitness Pal for a while and was paying for the premium version: this tracker is much better overall, the accuracy of the food is impeccable and is actually cheaper than what I was paying with MyFitness Pal. If I could make one suggestion: being able to integrate to import of recipes from websites..Version: 2.2.13

Decent motivation and accountability appIt just keeps me engaged and mindful about my diet and goals. I’d recommend it..Version: 2.5.14

I love the AI featureIt’s so easy to add what i easy either the GPT feature this is so amazing use it like crazy.Version: 2.2.10

Great App!Great App! Very easy to log food and view progress over time. Was wondering if the app had the ability to specify weight targets over a specific period of time. For example, vacationing in may and would like to cut down aggressive enough to make the target without losing too much muscle. If this feature does not exist, it would be a great addition!.Version: 1.6.11

Best on the MarketAmazing tracker. I’ve tried two other trackers - the “biggest” one on market (awful), and another one that’s more in line with what MacroFactor is doing (named after an element). MacroFactor’s tracking ability, and food database is so far beyond what you get with the others. I love that with just a few clicks/scans you can find almost anything in a name brand or generic version. Also, the coaching feature is top notch and the algorithm really does adjust incredibly well - I’ve used MacroFactor for over a year and had several periods of intense exercise followed by sedentary periods - this app adjusts accordingly. The only possible critique is that think the UX and data visualization might leave a little to be desired. But, these aren’t my areas of expertise, so I have no suggestions. Just that the interface could be simplified and pop a bit more..Version: 2.1.3

Chef’s kiss 😚👌🏼24/7 dietitian in your pocket, beautiful trend and overview visuals, easy and hassle free way to meet your goals!.Version: 1.5.2

Best diet app on the marketI’ve followed Greg and Eric for a long time and when I found their app I knew it would be good stuff. Thankfully the app doesn’t not disappoint at all. The barcode scanner even works remarkably well in Australia and I haven’t had a product yet the scanner didn’t recognise. Also love that the app lets you customise the gain/loss rate to a tee and tracks micronutrients. Only ask from me is a way to track the micronutrients against daily RDIs..Version: 1.2.4

Expensive but worth every pennyThis is the most comprehensive app for tracking calories. If you track diligently/accurately (i track everything to the gram for example) it will tell you the exact amount of calories you have to consume to maintain/gain/lose weight..Version: 2.2.10

Best iOS app ever!Let me just say this outright: Macrofactor isn't just the best food tracking app I've ever laid my hands on. It's the best iOS app. It's crystal clear from the get-go that this app was crafted by folks who live and breathe food tracking and science. They've managed to cut through the noise and gave us an evidence-based approach to nutrition which is absolutely amazing. Logging foods has turned into something I genuinely look forward to each meal hahaha The app really changed my relationship with food! The knowledge base is also incredible. I have learned a ton of stuff by reading it and using the Reddit community when I needed. Those things just make the ecosystem surrounding the app even more exciting. If I had to nitpick, I'd point out the lack of a desktop version. Navigating reports and adding several ingredients to a recipe on a mobile screen can feel a bit cramped at times. But I understand prioritizing a feature means deprioritizing others. I’d rather a top-notch mobile experience over a mediocre cross-platform. The Macrofactor team has set the bar sky-high. The existing features, knowledge base and engaging community have me convinced that we're in for a treat with whatever they roll out next. Keep up the fantastic work!.Version: 2.5.15

Best AppMacroFactor is by far the best food tracking app I’ve used, paid or otherwise. It’s very intuitive and provides lots of great info to the user as you consistently log food and weight. What I enjoy most about it is it seems to have been made by experienced athletes for experienced athletes. It’s easy to use so anyone can use it but its clear that it is a cut about many other apps out there as there are customizable plans to gain and lose weight while maintaining muscle mass or minimizing fat gain. My favorite feature was being able to select a high protein diet on my cut and MacroFactor will make small changes to my calorie and macro intake to fit my needs as I cut. Great app very helpful.Version: 1.4.2

Great appThought I would give the 14 day free trial a go, I am hooked. Never saw myself using a calorie/macro tracker, but it is so easy to use. Was stalled out at a weight, but am now seeing progress. Love that I can build my own recipes. Thanks.Version: 1.6.16

Game-changer in macro trackingI’ve tried MyFitnessPal, FoodNoms, and Calorimeter as an avid lifter for theee years. MacroFactor blows them all away in many areas. Firstly, its intelligent macro recommendations which are easier than using a spreadsheet or calculator and adapt to your progress. Secondly, interface - easy to get things in without ads getting in the way. Thirdly, the AI Describe function - no more estimating a home-cooked / restaurant meal, the app does it for you and you can adjust if needed! This is the app you want guys..Version: 1.0.7

Great for Short FolksI am loving MF. It’s incredibly easy to use but the best thing for me is the generous calorie allowance for me as a short person. Usually weight loss programs cap my daily calorie allowance at 1400 calories or less. With MF I’m at 1680. It makes a huge difference with being able to stick at it. Also, there’s no punitive messages if you go a bit hard on the calories, so logging a blowout feels okay. I love using MF!.Version: 2.2.14

Really clean app to useCurrently on the 2 week trial period, however this app has caught my fitness pal napping. Really clean dashboard with an interesting use of metrics to help suggest and adjust your food consumption. I like the way meals can group together and time of day is shown too. Sadly though, as a UK user, quite a few foods that have scanned and been found in other apps have not been found in this one. So more manual entries. Also, some foods have completely wrong information and its not clear how/if I can edit entries in the main database?.Version: 1.0.7

DecentI like the UI. It’s relatively easy to navigate. I have one suggestion though. The ability to edit the nutritional information given on a product. Some details on products aren’t correct and this app either needs an individual edit button or a “report incorrect nutritional information” function..Version: 1.0.10

The plan and concept worksIt is really good!! Used it for weight loss. It dialed in my daily expenditure very quickly and as such my deficit to reach my goal at a reasonable and tolerable rate of 1lbs/week. If you stick out the adjustment period of tracking everything you eat daily (consistency more important than high accuracy), and logging your weight at reasonable periods, you will learn your actual daily expenditure, and then you have the info you need to truly be in a calorie deficit (or whatever your plan is). It just plain works. I lost at exactly the rate it predicted which made me want to track and eat within my budget even more!.Version: 1.4.3

Amazing ResourceMacroFactor has been a great and vital resource in my nutrition/body composition journey. It has everything you will need, it has been around for a little over a year and it’s already easily competitive with My Fitness Pal (The industry standard.) I will not be surprised when this becomes number 1 in the future. I’ve used them all. MFP, Carbon Diet Coach, RP Diet App, and this blows all of them out of the water. Some people complain about the price, but that is not a lot to pay if you are serious about your journey. The ROI is tremendous. I would just ask the developers to add landscape support for iPad as I do use the app on multiple devices. And it get frustrating at times to have to remove the iPad to turn it vertically while using MacroFactor. Keep up the great work dev team!.Version: 2.1.0

Much better than MyFitnessPalWish they had lock screen widgets tho.Version: 1.6.14

Great appReally enjoyable app to track progress. A few critiques though is I’d like to know what the app is thinking or if it makes a difference as far as my program goes when there is a day or 2 in the week where I don’t track on the app. A few days per week for me personally, I get too busy to use the app; And, although I’m tracking mentally, I’m not using the app. I’d like to know what that does or doesn’t change with the program. Also, I’d LOVE there to be a way to track JUST calories and protein, because that’s all I think is necessary to track for most people and I know a lot of others track that way. The app always wants to set carbs and fats and It would be great to be able to just track cals and protein..Version: 2.2.16

ConvertedI marked “2 week free trial over” in my calendar to make sure I canceled MarcoFactor before being charged but I’m keeping the app. MacroFactor is so good at what it does, I have over 6 months left with Lifesum and have decided that I’m deleting it. MarcoFactor isn’t your normal dieting app as it can act as a coach, subtracting or adding calories based on your goals and weight trends. You’re able to set your own personal preferences such as “high carb”, “low fat”, “moderate protein”, etc. to match your personal eating preferences. Best of all, there are no extremes as seen in the Renaissance Periodization nutrition app. I foresee a lot people using this app and finally succeeding at their weight loss goals. I highly recommend MacroFactor..Version: 1.0.7

Seems very well detailedOnly issue I have so far is every two months I work night shift for two weeks straight so it’ makes it hard to keep track when my days are split up other wise very well built app ! Thumbs up.Version: 2.6.5

Really impressed with the app - have switched from MyFitnessPalAs a lifelong MyFitnessPal user (dipping in and out over the years) I never expected to switch over, but this is by far the best decision I’ve made. As someone who goes through periods of being both very active and inactive this is the best solution I could possibly think of to help adjust my calorie goals/expenditure, and so much more accurate than guessing at my activity level. It is also significantly better for my mental health when dieting as it removes the whole “maybe I should be eating less than this, maybe I’m not as burning as many calories as I think I am” stress. This is absolutely fantastic as someone who has been overly restrictive in the past. It was a slightly difficult switch over as the app is a little bit less intuitive, especially for those of us (me) who are not really interested in macros at the moment and are just calorie tracking - especially on the main dashboard. All of the additional features made it seem a bit daunting at first compared to MyFitnessPal but now that I have used it for a few days I have already got the hang of tracking and will definitely be switching over completely. It also seems like there are a lot of ongoing developments and updates happening so I am really excited to see the app evolve..Version: 1.6.7

The best food tracking app everThe review is in the titled! Tried so many of them, and this one is the best BY FAR! I lost already 40 pounds thanks to it..Version: 2.4.7

Shorter Review TLDR - great app better than MFPThe iOS design is very user friendly even more so than MFP. I enjoy the dark mode, the dynamic sense, and instead of making spreadsheets and figuring out what exact routine to follow to hit 0 calories or to not surpass x amount of calories just to figure out one week you ate too little and another too much. The subscription alone isn’t even a 1 hour shift a month, taking that into consideration with how much you have to deal with ads and or spreadsheets, detailed meal prep, and otherwise crazy detailed researched caloric and macro for each food eaten. - big headache coming from someone doing it successfully 8 months now. I took the risk and the subscription - first 3 days in has alone cleared up my schedule and allowed me to live a more motivated and productive life than to obsess in my free time over dieting and working out. Works great in a cut and a bulk with the algorithm!.Version: 1.2.10

8 days in and it’s my favorite tracking appSo far this has been an excellent app, easily my favorite nutrition tracker. It has fairly intuitive controls though I am still learning about some aspects to it. Though there are some features that I would love to see, this app still gets five stars because the developers are very involved with the feedback and their plans for the future. For those who are curious about why I think this is a step change, it is the first app to truly try to solve for the calories out portion of calories in versus calories out. The on boarding and coaching guidelines are very nice and goal neutral. Also you can tell that the app was made by people who love to look at data. The displays and explanations are very nice..Version: 1.0.7

Good On Ya Jeff!Nice App. Super Slick and Easy..Version: 1.6.9

The best macro tracking appHonestly this is the best tracking app out there, it's so much more in depth, comprehensive and allows me to look at so many more things than just a normal app like myfitnesspal. I cannot recommend this enough!.Version: 1.3.12

Enjoyable, Intuitive, and insightful food loggerThe user interface and widget makes logging and tracking your food intake second nature. When I first downloaded this app I was skeptical about this being a paid only app. I was using another popular tracker and wasn’t sure if this was worth it. After one day of logging I decide I would commit or this app and pay for the annual service and deleted my other apps. The UI and analytics are a delight to use. MacroFactor showing their feature roadmap is also another great thing about this app. You can see and vote or submit features you’d like to see. Shows commitment and potential of its future evolution. Maybe some AI and wearable application in the future. Lastly at its core it delivers what’s intended and there is a lot of room to run. The food library doesn’t seem to have as many data quality issues as other food logger apps. I will gladly support MacroFactor and use it to support my health goals..Version: 2.5.15

Non-comparable to My Fitness PalThis app is amazing and I’m only in my free trial. I was reluctant to try a new app as I have tried many that didn’t come close to MFP for me. This however, has so many amazing features and is way better in helping me track my macros rather than seeing just the calories. It has given me a healthier view on eating because although trying to stay in my calories I am also making my sure to get my macros up to where they need to be. MacroFactor have actually made it quite enjoyable to track my food rather than a chore!! 5/5.Version: 1.5.2

Great app - to be expected from these guysHey guys - I wanted to give u a huge shout out. I’ve downloaded Macrofactor at launch and so far so good (from an Aussie). The one weakness is barcode scanner is fairly useless in Aus but the AI describe is AMAZING👍) But I also wanted to shout out ur A2S2 program (new name escapes me). I’m on w13 and although I’ve been very conservative with starting inputs and progression I’m feeling strong whilst focusing on execution and most importantly, I’ve had no knee, elbow, Shoulder or hip throughout, which have plagued me my entire 10yr lifting career! You guys to a truly top job, and combined with ur integrity (and dry af humour on the pod) I’m SO GLAD I found u guys…keep it up! Claudio.Version: 1.0.5

Great UI, intuitive and frequent releasesAwesome app with frequent smart releases which makes the app better every single time! I have been using the app for more than year and couldn’t be happier!.Version: 1.5.5

Love it!Ive used a lot of different macro app. So far i am loving this! Its so easy to use. The Australian database is pretty big and can easily find food and scan barcode. I love how it adjust your macros based on your goal but it doesn't penalise you if you don't adhere to it strictly. Really easy to use. And join their facebook group, its really helpful. And they are constantly updating and making it better..Version: 1.3.2

Best calorie tracker I’ve usedI’m coming at this primarily from the point of view of a food tracking app, and less from the coaching point of view. On the food tracking front, this is the best tracker I’ve used, and the label scanning feature has worked very well for me. The app itself runs well/is responsive on an older device. This may seem like a given, but I’ve used other apps in the past that fail this step. On the coaching front (setting up and tracking goals) the app has a decent selection of approaches, and while it prioritized protein consumption as a key feature, it does offer flexibility in setting up goals. I can’t really speak to the apps adaptive capabilities yet (the ability to adapt the diet base on feedback), as I haven’t really used that heavily yet..Version: 2.5.14

Almost perfectThe app is fairly easy to use and has a good range of functions. However, there are two main gripes I have that make it frustrating to use at times 1) the database of branded foods is somewhat limited and highly specific to the USA, which also means a lot of barcodes won’t scan and will need to be manually added 2) similarly this means there’s a somewhat limited and very US focused list of generic foods, meaning again, you’ll often have to create a custom food/recipe for foods that are very common If they expand their database, realise the world doesn’t revolve around the US and add more foods, it will be an exceptional app!.Version: 2.3.1

InsaneThis is honestly insane. I used to use MyFitnessPal but I decided to switch after trying this out. This app makes it feel like I’m not even on a diet since I never end up cutting too aggressively (since it calculates the optimal target calories all the time)..Version: 2.1.5

Amazing appI have been using mfp since 2013 and I would say this is the best nutritional tracking app I have ever used. The AI coaching factor is phenomenal! I love how quickly it responds, barcode scanning is great. The only thing is it doesn’t have some foods in the database. So I’ll use mfp to get the data and add it as a custom entry. Then I never have to worry about it again. Honestly it’s worth the 1 year plan. I went from 62.6kg and wanted to get under 60kg maintaining muscle and lifting heavy. 6 months later I’m sitting comfortably at 58kg and now at maintenance with my calories being over 2500 per day. Another thing I love. I tend to eat a higher fat diet. It’s learnt my eating habits and my macros are perfectly suited to the way I eat. I LOVE THIS APP! And finally one more thing I love about it, the simplicity of having a coach check in with you each week. As a personal trainer and online coach, I'm grateful to have someone to be able to help me be the best version of myself. I would recommend always being honest with your food intake even if you send it an go over. And I weigh myself daily to tell the app how my body has responded to the calories I had the day before. Do yourself a favour and get this app. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you to the Macrofactor team for such a brilliant nutritional tracking / coaching app!!!!!! 🥰💪🩷🔥.Version: 2.4.4

Would love to see a water intake featureHoping in the next couple updates they add a water tracking feature. Trying to reduce the amount of apps I use. 🤞💧.Version: 1.6.7

Amazing Updates and Beautiful AppThe app has great features for making entry quick and painless. There are detailed features for micronutrient tracking in addition to macronutrient tracking. The expenditure tracking with it's Flux Range is a key feature that makes this app different from other apps. It always keeps up to date without you having to say if you have been following your goal or not, as long as you weigh in and track your food. The Flux range will give you an idea of how it may be off from your bodies actual expenditure. The fact that this app is paid may turn people off, but it's paid for a good reason: they are constantly working on new features and updates, and take the communities suggestions seriously. I was one of the people who brought up micronutrient tracking, and it happened! The money you pay for the app has real results. The interface is clean and easy to navigate. But if you find there are issues, just bring it up and they will see how to accommodate the issue..Version: 2.5.7

So much better than MFP!!!Absolutely amazing platform. So much better than MFP. Easy to use. You can rename frequent meals so they show up as one line instead of 10 😂. Scanner than can read barcodes or labels if the barcode isn’t entered. Much easier way to log when you’ve eaten a portion of a recipe. Only took me about 20 mins to transfer my regular stuff from MFP and get used to the interface. Love their AI algorithm to calculate your true expenditure to ensure your macros are accurate and that you are in fact in a deficit. I could go on but I’ll stop here!.Version: 2.5.9

Fantastic Macro Counting AppI’ve used MFP for years, since about 2013 and while it has been fine, there was always inconsistencies with food data. However, it was simple. But there has also been next to zero improvements since 2013, it’s virtually the same app. MacroFactor has a really great interface and their food database seems to be relatively accurate to the foods you are inputting without the user-added foods that can skew numbers and macro ratios. Furthermore, the AI coach and algorithm is a really great addition that helps keep macro adjustments brainless for the user. The data the app provides is really great with the user being able to make things as simple or as complicated as they want. The price is fair for what you get and I can’t recommend this app enough to people who want to take their nutrition seriously..Version: 2.0.4

An engaging app for tracking foodIt’s early days for me as I’ve only been using the app for a couple of weeks. So far I’m enjoying using it much more than MFP as I find it’s engaging me much more. So it’s easier to track as I know what the data is going to be used for. And it’s reassuring to know that there’s a huge knowledge base driving it. I feel I can trust the app and trust the people behind it to help me get to my goal. Let’s see if I’m right!.Version: 1.5.7

The best tracking appI thought I was done with tracking all together until I heard about MacroFactor. This app is one of the only things I spend money to subscribe to, it is THAT useful. Over the summer, I have lost about 10 pounds, which is halfway to my goal, in an enjoyable and sustainable manner. I like how I get to use the scale in a data-driven way now instead of avoiding it like the plague. The algorithm the app use to calculate how many calories you should eat to accomplish your goals is THE MOST BRILLIANT THING. All previous attempts at calorie counting have proven unsuccessful for me because no app or calculator could pick a sensible calorie goal for me. They guessed my TDEE was way lower than it actually is. Knowing pretty accurately what my TDEE is now thanks to MacroFactor is pretty liberating and it helps me with my nutrition and goals so much. There is much to say about how great this app is. If you're considering tracking your calories with an app, it has to be MacroFactor. Take your time with setting it up and learning how its technology works; they have a good few articles going over its principles, plus some amazing support on socials. Then be amazed at how simple it is to incorporate into your daily life compared to other tracking apps. No guilt mechanics, no red warning signs if you go over your calories for the day, just neutral data. A must-try for people looking to eat in a goal-oriented manner..Version: 2.2.15

Curious, then annoyed, then skeptical, now stanningThis is an excellent app. I’ve been using the big app in this category for years but wanted one that was more interactive and built less from a diet mindset and more an active fitness mindset with diet as a foundation—that didn’t cost absurd sub fees. And I didn’t pick this one but paid for a different one based on a similar model. That other app was OK. I watch Jeff’s YouTube channel, took the free trial as the data screenshots had me curious. I found the food logging workflow annoying at first. It’s more involved than others I’ve used. But now I see that’s because there are more ways to enter those data for food. Within a three days I finally had the hang of it and where the buttons were, how the workflow worked. The hourly log is genius. The AI recording path is impressive. But the graphing data… OMG, the graphing data is brilliant, robust, and informative. While anecdotal I also find the coaching algorithm more interesting, involved, and believable hence trustworthy. So, I’m impressed and will annual sub before the trial ends. It’s that good… once your mind maps where everything is..Version: 1.6.11

Perfect! Why haven't I found this app sooner? Hands down it blows away some of the other top nutritional trackers that I was dedicated to in the past (MFP, LifeSum, MyNetDiary). I am thrilled with this app for so many reasons. I have yet to log a food that wasn't in the database. The food search easily finds my item with lightning speed. The user interface has multiple ways to log, edit, copy, etc. The weight tracker has actual weights and your trending weight. Very easy to use after a short introductory period. I love this app especially because of the expenditure function that adjusts with time/data and is specific to the user. It builds trust in the numbers instead of like other apps, "well just start here and see what happens". The check-ins keep you on track given the data you put in. So awesome. This app is science driven by some incredible developers and I cannot love this app enough. Just when I think it's perfect, they keep adding functions to make it even better. Well done! Get this app - you won't be disappointed!.Version: 2.1.1

The best, hands downI’ve been a recreational athlete for years and have used various calorie tracking apps—MFP, Chronometer, FatSecret. All were *okay* in that they got the job done. I always wanted something more dynamic. Enter MacroFactor. From the intuitive features like recipe building and copy paste (SO much better than other similar apps), the team behind this app thought of everything and then some. I also love that going over calories doesn’t penalize you. Instead, you still get useful data and the app acts as your custom diet coach by adjusting calories based on changes in metabolism throughout a diet. I can’t wait to see what else this team comes up with. Probably something I never knew I needed but soon won’t be able to live without. Buy this subscription now..Version: 1.0.8

An app that will actually get you to your goalsMacroFactor is a truly refreshing approach to fitness and nutrition tracking. A beautiful yet well designed user interface that makes the experience of using the app effortless. Backed by science based algorithms to actually understand what changes are going on with your body, then adjusting its suggestions to help you reach your goals. I’ve been using the app for a few months now and it has really helped with my progress tracking and has finally got me into the habit of consistently logging my food accurately. The only issue I’ve ever had with the app is that very occasionally a food I scan returns something completely different. Though this is usually for those more obscure items. Worth every penny in my book..Version: 1.3.1

Amazing app with features that work wellI love this app and the community around it. The features are well thought out and the app just works. Thanks for developing macrofactor.Version: 2.1.5

Intuitive, clean design, useful metricsGood intuitive clean design and genuinely useful metrics tracking both scale and trend weight. Big plus for me given historic problems with food is the neutrality of the tracking ( no going into the ‘red’ or being chided for ‘undereating’); the coaching algorithm being based on your actual intake; and the data driven habit/practice based ethos. Nice job!.Version: 1.2.11

Diet can be delightfulLet’s be real, nobody would be tracking macros/calories/food if it didn’t work. What I didn’t expect was such a delightful experience that makes tracking less of a headache, and a set of motivational charts that helps you stick with it. I’ve used several other leading apps and this is my favorite, because of the ease of use, simplicity, and great design. I love being able to share recipes with my husband via text so he can also track the meals we share, and logging a food with a new illustration (today’s favorites, a fig) never fails to make me smile. The developers are also super responsive and share their roadmap with the community. The one area I think there is for improvement is adding a new barcode/food item. To me, the input nomenclature is a bit confusing and I feel like I always have to edit and troubleshoot a few times before I feel like I get the information to match the nutrition label. Overall though, this is a small nit in an otherwise great app, and I would highly recommend it to people who are looking for an app to aid in their health journey..Version: 1.6.16

Best calorie and macro tracker and it’s not closeI’ve used a bunch of different calorie and macro trackers over the years as Ive tried to hit different weight and fitness goals. The most successful I am has always been when I used myfitnesspal alongside tracking my TDEE in a spreadsheet, then upping a lowering my calorie and macro goals week to week. The fact that Macrofactor does all of that for me and adjusts accordingly has greatly reduced the time and effort I need to put into tracking everything. I’m currently in a slow bulk and it has made the process way less painful and therefore easier to achieve. If you’ve ever plateaued on a diet/cut/bulk and didn’t know why or how to fix it… this app essentially just removes that entirely. Just log all your food and daily weight and hit the numbers it tells you. I’m also a web developer/software developer and IMO the app is built very well and is super easy to use. Also love the AI description feature which makes estimating non-exact meals and eating out super quick. Worth the monthly subscription for the features and well built app. Really appreciate there not being ads either. Thanks!.Version: 1.6.11

Preferred over my fitness palMore accurate and an overall better system that other competitors..Version: 2.5.15

5 pounds down and countingIts not sorcery, we all know what is good to eat or what is not….. or so i thought, using this app has enlighten me on many level and i love how easy it is to enter track and adjust my daily intake. Ive hit my daily high protein goal, im always getting my carbs and fat but without exaggerating for once in my life! Thanks for this app!.Version: 2.5.15

Best calorie and macro tracker I’ve usedIt takes a while to figure out where everything is, but once you do, it’s simply the most elegant, accurate, and consistent tracker on the market. It uses your goals and weight trends to adjust your weekly calorie range and keep you on course, but it also helps you track any six nutrition factors you want on the front page. That lets me track my caffeine intake and magnesium, for instance. The macros allow me to reassess my meals as I progress through the day, allowing me to choose higher protein options or lower fat options, all depending on where I am in my progress toward my macros! Adding a new food for an unknown barcode is relatively easy, and no matter what food you input, you can track by grams, which means you can weigh everything and stay more accurate. There’s a monthly subscription, and it’s completely worth it, IMO..Version: 2.5.15

A few requestsPlease add shortcut integration so we can go directly to logging/scanning foods, and please also add the ability to drag meals between days. The new timeline has some nice new features but overall feels heavily cluttered now.Version: 1.6.7

Needs workThe algorithm is great, but the UI experience is terrible. App team really need to hire some UX designers and work on the interface.Version: 1.1.1

The best food tracker I have ever used!MacroFactor is seriously the best food logger, calorie calculate, macro tracker, fitness app I have used. Ever. I have tried many different apps over the years with a variety of diets goals. This is the best. Period. The layout is clean and informative with visual graphs and plenty of data to view. If you are a bit of a nerd, you will love it. The food catalog is massive. I can always find what I am looking for and the information is always accurate with many ways to measure your food. The barcode scanner is the fastest I have used. Just take the image farther than you assume you would. There is also an AI describe feature that will plug in some generic foods for you if it is hard to track your actual intake. You tell it a cup of rice and a few pieces of meat with a side of veggies, and it will churn out some pretty close items for you! So in social settings, cheat meals, or the not so serious tracker, that feature is excellent. And there is no extra nonsense to get in the way. You track, you view information and you are done. The big thing is you have to pay for it. You get a week (I believe) free to try it. (I personally forgot that I did the trial. 😂 But now I am so glad I spent the money!) If you really looking for and excellent tracker and diet partner, this one will prove it to you. Okay that’s it. I’m done. Seriously, it’s the best. Ever..Version: 1.6.16

Excellent App!I have been using MacroFactor for 6 months and continue to be impressed by its effectiveness and ease of use! If you are trying to lose fat or gain muscle mass this is the app for you!.Version: 2.5.7

A Cure for MyopiaJust want to say how much I love all of the data analytics within the app. I’ve only been using for around 4 weeks and over the past 2 weeks it’s really “felt” like I haven’t gained any weight and maybe even lost some. It would be around this time that, without the app, I would’ve gotten frustrated and began stuffing my face for quick results (only to quit a few weeks and 10 pounds later bc I’m tired of eating so much). I was frustrated this morning during check in when, despite an average loss over the last week, my calories decreased again. But when I zoom out, and really take in what all the data is telling me, I’m like, oh yeah that actually makes sense. Part of the frustration is also that I’m used to eating much more, having just gone from busy 12 hours shifts in the emergency room to now being a full time student again. In any case, I guess I’m just saying thanks to everyone who took part in developing the app and also to encourage those who maybe, like me, tend to be a bit too myopic at times!.Version: 1.6.11

Best tracking app BY FAR! 🤩I’ve tried myfitness tracker and this by far exceeds it. It’s such a motivating and well thought out app. I’ve already lost 5lbs and learned so much more about my body. I also appreciate that it has a spot where you can track your period…because that has a huge impact on your weight and it’s something that’s often overlooked in this more male dominated field. I’m really loving it!.Version: 2.5.15

Just buy itI was on the fence about investing in a calorie tracking app for so long and I finally decided to try it and within 10 min I knew I made the right choice. This app takes away all the headache from tracking your nutrition. I used MFP for years and this is hands down way better in every way. If you are new to tracking your calories/macros, this is the app for you, if you are extremely experienced in tracking then this is the app for you. It’s as detailed as you want it to be. I love nerding out on the little details and so I love this app. But if you don’t find that exciting, you can still use this app and it will be better than any other one out there. It gives you the freedom and tools needed to reach your goals. I can not hype this app up more. If you even use a tracking app just a few times a day, this app will help streamline the process and make it easier and more efficient. You gotta get this!.Version: 1.3.13

Best app on the market - Works well in CanadaI have been using the app ever since launch and it has helped me stay consistent when cutting and bulking. The algorithm helps you stay on top of your macros and adjust accordingly. The database works well in Western Canada, I use the barcode scanner all the time. I absolutely love it! I have used other trackers like MFP and lose it, and I find MacroFactor superior..Version: 2.1.5

SmashingMain complaint I see is from people saying that they have to put in a lot of manual entries, I stay in the uk and the barcode scanner has worked every single time for me, maybe depends where you shop if it’s a problem or not. App is super intuitive where on other apps I’ve wanted to change or edit something and it’s take multiple steps with this it’s super quick to just swipe and edit.Version: 1.2.11

Just wow!So impressed by this app and whoever the team is that is working on it. Not only is this the best dietary tracking app I have used, but it’s one of the best app experiences I’ve have ever had. App is rock solid, beautiful, intuitive, innovative (algorithmic calorie consumption model), and low friction to use. On top of that the team’s communications and FAQs are outstanding. Genuine 5 stars!.Version: 2.4.7

Great Macro Tracking app to help you meet your goalsI have used MacroFactor (pre-release) for 4 weeks having previously used MFP spasmodically for many years. I love MacroFactor - it has a really nice interface, and the occasional less intuitive features have been noted and explained/updated by the extremely responsive development team. To use this app well, you have to be prepared to log your food intake - there is no magic AI to do that for you, but it is by far the nicest food-tracking app I’ve used and it comes with the trust factor of algorithms developed by the Stronger by Science crew, and without the congratulatory hype and fanfare of “losing weight” or badges for being “good”. You set your goals, you track progress relative to goals or adjust goals - the app provides data for you to do this. So MacroFactor allows me to identify my goals without judgement (losing weight, gaining weight, maintaining weight) and then allows me to monitor my progress towards my selected goal based on my own data. So long as I log my food accurately and record my weight regularly, the algorithms use my data to calculate trended weight and personalised TDEE. I use the coached version that adjusts my macros weekly based on my own TDEE, which has kept me on the desired trend-line for the time I’ve been using it. It’s been informative that my TDEE appears to be a bit lower than other apps have assumed. Daily weigh-ins can be problematic for me given the amount of variation in my weight day-to-day but MacroFactor’s weight trend line has stopped me obsessing over weight entirely - daily weight is purely a data entry exercise, and the trend line has what I watch. So far it has been smooth, despite wide daily weight fluctuations, so the trend line is really reassuring and motivating. Note that for people outside North America (like me), the food database used by MacroFactor does not have great brand coverage, but while the first week or so required me to enter a lot of nutrition information manually, the plus side (indeed the major trust factor for me) is the relative accuracy of nutrition data - the app doesn’t share user-entered data with other users..Version: 1.0.4

Pleasantly surprisedI’ve used other apps before like this. But this on I find is totally different. Super easy to find foods. Easy to use. I’ve even used the “contact us” option and received an actual person to answer my questions. I’m two full weeks in and down 6lbs. I’d definitely recommend. 10-10!!.Version: 2.5.9

Australian issuesHi, even though you updated the Australian database, it’s still extremely difficult searching for Australian foods. All the American stuff comes up.Version: 1.1.1

Great insight and detailed informationI like this app and it has great potential to provide a detailed insight into your nutrition. I would like to see if you can add a actual expenditure. A way for us to add our workout. I think there are some formulas out there that can calculate the amount of calories burned based on height weight, intensity (light, medium, heavy or slow, moderate or fast) and time. I think adding something like that would really improve the overall view of what we are consuming versus what we are expending and would help us determine if we need to make adjustments to our diet. I have a heart condition so I have to monitor my sodium intake. I think adding a page on the food log that displays overall total nutrition for the day that show our total vitamins, minerals etc. for the day would be very helpful..Version: 1.5.1

Visually stunning and scientifically superiorAs a long time user of MFP, I’m pretty set in my ways on food logging. I use a spreadsheet to track weekly weight and calorie averages, more or less giving me an idea of my expenditure. I was absolutely blown away at how superior this app is to both MFP and my spreadsheet. When I’m doing a super slow bulk to gain muscle over 6 months, it is tricky to stay in that surplus sweet spot. This app has a much more sophisticated (and evidence based) algorithm to keep me where I need to be, looking back further than 7 days (my old spreadsheet) and doing more nuanced trending. And the food logger is super intuitive and fast, avoids many of the silly adherence shaming tactics that other apps use. Like saying I’m “bad” for going over my calories during a bulk 🧐…not with this app. These guys are super smart, can’t wait to see things continue to evolve. Hopefully they don’t get rushed into implementing too many changes and slowly release thoroughly tested updates. I’m sure it will continue to get even better though. Great work!.Version: 1.0.7

Terrific Goal Keeping AppIf you’re willing to pay for a gym membership, consider paying for this app. It is worth every penny. It takes work at first when you’re first starting to use this app. I would say after the first 2 or 3 weeks, it is so easy! You just need to get in the habit of weighing your food and inputting all the nutritional information into the app. Whatever your goals are, this app will help you tremendously. My only regret is not trying out this app sooner in my weight loss journey. It would have made things at least a little easier. I’ve heard about it before from Jeff Nippard. He’s a fitness YouTuber whom I follow and watch if I’m looking weight lifting advice. He’s also one of the creators of this app. He gives terrific and worthwhile information in all that he does. There’s a lot more that I can say about him and this app, but just know that the effort that you put into this app you will get back. It all depends on you. Have a great day..Version: 2.5.15

I actually enjoy logging my food food in this appIt’s like going from email to text. There isn’t just one thing that works better, rather it is the way the small improvements add up. I took the free trial and after 7 days. Each day my appreciation for the MF app grew and now I would never go back. I had used Carb Manager but switched to MF even though I had 6 mo the left on a subscription to Carb Manager. I had to admit it was worth the cost and ignore the sunk cost of Carb Manager…I trust myself to transition to maintenance with MF in a way I didn’t with other apps. (1) Logging food is faster and easier so I don’t mind doing it. (2) A positive relationship with logging food exists because of the feedback loop of better logging means better data to adjust my macros targets - and it is quick as to do it. (3) Going from loss to maintenance is the hardest IMO, from a mental side. By knowing that the app will auto adjust my calories and macros during check in is motivating and helpful. (4) The articles they write, I’m new to stronger by science, are worth it for motivation and education. I can tell they care about the app and the success of others. (5) Very transparent in terms of what they will add or won’t add to the app so it feels like I know we are aligned. (6) It’s not cheap or “free”. I rationalize the cost as paying by offsetting the cost of food I “would have bought” when gaining lbs in yo-yo diet. So far that has made sense..Version: 2.3.1

An in-depth calorie tracker that needs a little loveOverall, I love this app the approach and execution is exceptional. I’ve used various calorie trackers over the past 3 years so there’s just a few tweaks that I think would be welcome additions. Pros- Impressively thorough in terms of information (Vitamin, amino acid profile, and fat/carb content in foods). Time function automatically built in makes it easy to track. Other apps use different meals as a means of tracking, but using time as a marker for whenever you eat goes along with my hectic schedule when I may not get to eat at traditional “meal times.” Adding multiple items to a “plate” is incredibly intuitive. Very customizable and accommodating in terms of user goals. Gauging progress in terms of longer periods of time (weekly/bi-weekly) is an exceptional idea. Cons- User interface may need a little love. A lot of the functions aren’t incredibly intuitive when using the app for the first time; requires a bit of a learning curve. Food data may need to be expanded. It mostly gets the job done when I’m searching for foods, but there are still some foods that don’t appear when searching or using the barcode scanner (the quick adding macro feature is a good alternative for the time being). Maybe consider replacing pictures of food items with icons. I know this is a small nit-pick, but high resolution icons would certainly look better than low resolution pictures of each food item..Version: 1.1.1

I have never felt better losing weightAfter two weeks of using MacroFactor I was very happy to pay for the yearly subscription. At the end of the first week, the app offered me a 120 kcal a day increase, which helped me to space out my meals around my workouts more proficiently, and the same thing happened the second week while I still kept losing weight. I don’t know about other people, but I love to eat and knowing that I can eat AND lose weight just motivates me like never before. Just log your food and weight daily, try to adhere to your macros as much as possible and don't rush, and I believe this app will help you to lose weight sustainably without rebounding. To wrap up, I love the app and the only thing I think needs a little bit of work is the food database..Version: 1.3.3

Macro Factoriffic!Have been patiently waiting for this app to drop. The wealth of knowledge and science-based nutrition and fitness information provided by the Stronger by Science dynamic duo of Trexler and Nuckols in an app is too good to pass up. Setup is easy, and provides “real-world” choices for any nutrition or physical fitness goal. Health calculations are steeped in years of research and metadata that ignore pop-science Instacrap to make sure the app and its formulas resemble reality and not some exaggeration of nutrition hyperbole and dogma. I’ve used the premium version of another food tracker app (MFP) for years. I got tired of fixing the food database mistakes and making macro tracking a full time job. With Macro Factor you will no longer need to do the heavy lifting to log your food and exercise, and you can be sure that the data it provides is as close to clinically accurate as scientific research can provide. Ya’freakin’hoo!.Version: 1.0.4

Way better than MFPI was skeptical at first, and it took me a few days to adjust to MF and it’s UI, but a week in I’m genuinely blown away by how good this app is. - Recipes are 1000% more useful, by letting you set a total weight, volume, and serving size, or even automatically calculating raw weight of ingredients. - I always avoid “AI” stuff but the AI describe worked almost flawlessly for me, copying and pasting an entire recipe into the app in a few seconds without any errors - Logging is so fast, once you get the hang of it My only wish would be a feature to let you take a meal you’ve logged regularly in a day and convert it to a recipe, so you can easily mark if you don’t finish something, or have leftovers..Version: 1.4.4

Feedback and payback - awesomeFirstly, MacroFactor is an excellent app. The user interface, information and content are superb; the best I’ve used by far (MFP). Having followed Stronger By Science for a few years I am certain that the science and behind the scenes content is second to none. Finally the support and follow up from the team is remarkable; Facebook, Reddit, email etc. Thank you guys; genuinely great work!.Version: 1.0.7

My Go-To For Calorie TrackingHonestly just leaps and bounds better than MFP. It’s worth the money to pay for MacroFactor than use the free version of MFP. The developers and owners actually care about the app - easy to use and the food database isn’t clogged with inaccurate information. I like how it adjusts calorie expenditure each week based on weight loss/gain, too. Whenever I need to cut, this is the app I come back to..Version: 1.6.14

Works perfectly in UKHave been using the app for around a month, it’s fantastic and a really clever format with the algorithm that’s updating your calories weekly based upon your food logging and weigh ins. Also, I shop in all the usual places like lidl and aldi, sainsburys etc and the barcode scanner works just fine. There is the odd occasion that the total calories are wrong for an individual item, but that is absolutely no different than MyFitnessPal which is the biggest (but not best now) calorie tracker out there. Well worth the money..Version: 1.2.11

Have tried them all…… and MacroFactor wins. It’s got all the features you’d expect from the others, but it just does it so much better. I wasn’t expecting to love the coaching and weekly check-ins but it’s pretty amazing to have an algorithm adjust things for you based on so many (macro)factors. The features on their way look just as exciting. Thanks guys!.Version: 1.2.11

Destroys MyfitnesspalBest adaptive caloric tracking app I’ve tried. This app destroys MFP for lifters. The coaching functionality is great and the way that it adapts to the data you give it is excellent. Would recommend!.Version: 1.5.6

BrilliantThe best calorie tracker out there.Version: 2.5.15

This app should be the benchmark for all appsThis is the best app for weight management, the dynamic coaching element is outstanding- no more guesswork, getting hungry and giving up - just practical results. Logging key metrics is super simple - it has just enough functionality to be perfect. It's holy grail standard from a UX design point of view. I cannot express enough how well this works. Please don't ever sell it to private equity or a fitness brand, it's awesome the way it is..Version: 2.2.3

Finally! Finally a science-driven app that makes a world of difference in convenience just by having grams included in almost every item (vs other apps where things are only in ml or g, here there’s both!! Used to have to drive me nuts to have to keep entering equivalent grams into my old app!) You can tell the creators really care about the product. Adjustments within the app at the « check-in » make a lot of sense. Love it!!!!.Version: 2.0.4

I like it!!I love basically the whole setup and the analytical part of it… idk how anyone is saying it’s just like all the others apps, if you know anything about anything you’d see why it’s different 🙄 Although I did only give 4 out of 5 stars, because I’m confused as to why there’s no exercise expenditure for the day type of log or that can be integrated with the timeline already. Exercise varies, and although it took into account how sedentary you are, there might be a day where you are not and therefor you will be under calories, but the calories don’t reflect that… which is weird to me 🤔 Unless I missed something in the app. Personally this is something that would keep me from investing my money into, subscribing, cuz then I have to do the simple math myself. Currently I use an excel spreadsheet..Version: 1.6.9

Overall great, search could use some refiningI really like this app so far, it’s super intuitive! My only complaint is that I find you have to be super specific when entering foods into the search bar. Some refining of the search function would really improve the user experience!.Version: 2.5.14

Search overI love the app, its easy to work with and has all the useful i formation at a glance. It is so refreshing that finally i found an app that is based on science and papers and technical information. I understand experience is inportant but this is gives you the tech ical information at your fingertips and guiding you down a better healthier path. I like the attention to detail on the weight noise, the variety and appropriate servings that the food log shows and more. I cant recomended enough. I have only used it for short while but dont plan on switching. For me, the search is over.Version: 2.1.0

Fantastic appReally cannot fault anything - I’ve used carbon and MFP and this blows them out of the water. This app helped me lose 5kg and I just love all the data.Version: 2.5.0

Outstanding Coaching AppI’m having loads of fun with this app. The coaching side of it takes the stress out of dieting and all the data you have to analyse is really motivating. Plus you have a really supportive community to interact with on Facebook. The food database isn’t the best in the UK, but don’t let that put you off. The app can pull your data from whatever food tracker you use so you can still use the coaching functions the app offers. The team behind this app is some of the smartest people at what they do and have big plans for this app..Version: 1.0.8

Best Out of Many Macro Trackers I Have TriedMacroFactor is the best calorie/nutrition/ weight tracker I have ever used after trying apps such as MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, and others. First off the design and interface is amazing and took me no time to figure out. I am big into charts and graphs and love all of the data automatically put into graphs over time. I especially love the weight trend section because as we all know weight loss/gain is not linear as you almost always have day to day fluctuations. The trend weight section really helped me see my long term weight loss and made my relationship with my day to day weight better. Tracking food is super easy and quick with the barcode scanner. I also love how the app determines your caloric intake for your personal goals and preferences backed by science, as I used to have to figure this out for myself before with other apps(which took a lot of time). Have nothing but good things to say about this app. The only other thing I would ask is for there to be a widget that you can put on your home screen (iOS)..Version: 2.1.1

Love this appThis app is incredibly easy to use and I’ve been pleasant surprised by how many food items is has on its books but simply scanning the barcode. I live in Australia so this has made counting calories and macros easy. Highly recommend.Version: 2.3.1

Corner stone of my physique training. This is my first Macro tracking app and have been using it since spring of 2022 when I was 38 years old. Went from 20% body fat to %10 body fat and had an 8 pack for the first time in my life with out losing any perceived muscle. Then used app to do my first bulk ever and grew about 5 pounds of muscle in 9 months and got to %15 body fat , then switch app to weight loss and leaned out back to %10 body fat just in time for beach season but with more lean bulk On my second bulk right now for the upcoming winter months. It's a perfect system, if you are consistent and adhere to the recommendations u will achieve your physique goals..Version: 2.4.4

Only a few days in but I love itThis is one of the best apps I've downloaded in a really long time. The interface is so pleasant to interact with. I've never been a calorie counter but this app makes it fun and intuitive to log my nutrition and I feel like I'm already getting a better picture of my habits after just a few days! I also really appreciate the wealth of information on the MacroFactor website, and the way the app rewards personal accountibilty. I'm super excited to see how it performs after providing it with a few months of data, and I feel the subscription price is well worth it. Really glad I came across this app and excited to see how it progresses!.Version: 1.6.16

Best nutrition tracker appI absolutely love this app. It’s the best of its kind I’ve ever used. However, there are two minor things I dislike: 1. The app always opens on the dashboard, which is frustrating because the one thing you’ll be doing on a regular basis is log food, not look at the data; 2. When you move to the diary page, it always shows the top of the day instead of scrolling you down to the time of the day. I know if you just add an item in the search bar, it’ll add it to the current time, but it would useful to see what else has happened at that specific point in time or around it to maybe remind you if you’ve missed to add something..Version: 2.5.6

Tracking App for EveryoneThis app hits the nail on the head. I’ve used a number of other tracking apps.m, and generally they are all the same but MacroFactor stands out because it doesn’t judge you for how you get to your numbers or if you are over your numbers. Plus it uses real science to help build and maintain a customized plan just for you. Figuring out where you need to be at maintenance is one of the hardest things to do. There are tons of formulae out there to figure out TDEE but they all rely on you figuring out how active you are. Is 10,000 steps a day considered active enough that I need to bump my calories up? How does lifting weights affect that number? MacroFactor breaks it down and then gives you a number you can completely ignore. It reassess everything regularly to help you be more in tuned with how to hit your goals and it doesn’t shame you for eating 1 calorie over your target. No more red and green to indicate you are doing well. As Eric Trexler says “you are paying me to be your coach.” MacroFactor isn’t there to tell you that you did something wrong, it’s there to provide you with data and allow you to be on top of your needs to achieve your goals. The last thing I want to say about MacroFactor is that it is the only app out there that really helps you gain and maintain and not just cut weight. You could be a beginner just starting out or someone with a ton of experience but this app helps simplify things. Best money I ever spent!.Version: 1.0.7

Better than MFPBeen using Myfitness Pal before but this app gives so much more clean, accurate and better experience. Also the devs are very responsive on Facebook group and reapond quickly to any support questions. Worth every penny..Version: 1.2.7

All the best parts of food logging without the faffWow, I don’t usually leave reviews for apps, and I really didn’t think that there would be an app that could replace MyFitnessPal, however, this app takes away all of the trouble and stress from calorie counting. It’s super easy to track your food, if you don’t know the exact food, you are having, the AI assist does a very good job in estimating the calories for your meal. Also, when you scan a barcode, the label reader built into the app tracks nutritional information very quickly. I also love that this app really encourages you to stick with the calories, even if you do exercise, it doesn’t subtract them, and it makes for a far more balanced and consistent journey. I have decided to buy an annual subscription, so I can support the developers in this app, and reaching my weight loss goals. I feel a lot better about counting my food calories and I would recommend anyone that’s trying to lose or gain weight to get this up immediately, because it’s incredibly versatile, and efficient. Even the small details, like copying a whole meal to another day, or later, in the day, everything has been thought through..Version: 2.5.5

The Best Nutrition App There IsThis app is outstanding and the team behind it is incredible with responding to feedback, questions, feature requests, etc. The fact that it’s adherence-neutral (i.e. as long as you keep tracking, it will keep giving you valid targets to help you reach your goals, regardless of how closely you hit them) is brilliant. It subtly encourages you to keep logging everything even if you go over your targets, because you want to keep the algorithm informed with accurate data. But that in itself makes you less likely to really blow your diet (because you’re at least being conscious of what you’re eating) and has the net effect of improving adherence overall. Other diet apps expect you reach a certain level of adherence before they will update your targets which makes it easy to just quit tracking once you know you’ve gone off the plan, and in turn you’re more likely to say “**** it” and use that as an excuse to binge..Version: 1.0.7

Questionable measurementsOnly on day 2 of using this app, went to log that I’d eaten an entire Grapefruit when it listed all Grapefruits listed with 0 grams of fibre ? There’s surely at least 4 grams no ?.Version: 2.5.15
