✓ Overheats phone and capped upgradesIt’s given me a month or more of light entertainment but it lost it’s novelty quick. For starters upgrade on production speed is capped. While you can still buy it (I’m at 300p/s) production speed will always remain around <90 units per second. Offline income and starting units aren’t capped. When I say it’s good for light entertainment, I get about 4 rounds in before my phone gets hot and throttles. Only way to fix is to force close the game and let phone cool down. The game/iPhone becomes extremely laggy. I reckon there’s more going on behind the scene as I’ve played some games way more graphic and physics demanding on my phone with less problems. ✓ Greedy for moneyThe game is great however every time you go on the game you are greeted with a “you have been gone for 3hours 23minutes and 3 seconds” then underneath it says “CLAIM” for the cash you earned whilst offline and a ad icon. This is one of millions of ad icons shown in this game. Another example. You lose, “BRING BACKUP SUPPORT BUT BEFORE YOU DO SO WATCH THIS AD” or lose and they take the cash away from you. And another, you win. They give you a gift. An un-skipable ad comes and the gift is useless most the time. If they finally run out of ads they will still greet you with the gift but then you will have to get out of the game and come back on and be greeted once again with an ad. There’s no escape from the adverts in this game. Luckily, most the ads can just be skipped immediately but most of the time they are unskippable and 30 seconds or 2 minutes long. ✓ Not good anymoreI deleted the app today. I had reached level 455, and my beginning count was 5000, and regeneration was 200 per second. When I started, obviously, it’s a pain to get to where I am now, but after a while, the AI is absolutely obnoxious. You can start one against three, or four different players total. Even starting with 5000, all of the other three will all attack you simultaneously. you literally do not stand a chance. Most of them start between 650 and 700 each, I can’t even overtake a different state or country without being completely bombarded. At one point, the game was good, but it has gotten to the point where it is unbeatable. Not to mention every single level is followed by an ad. I would continuously shut down the app, and restart it, trying to find a different way to win. One level took me 14 tries to win. I think the algorithm goes, if you stay out of the app long enough, the next level that you were previously on, becomes simpler. The game became increasingly aggravating. After 455 levels, you can assume that I have figure it out how to beat the game. But at times, two will immediately become one against one, and all of a sudden that person has the entire map. This makes it free to play, so this is kind of the price of entry. It was very annoying, and partially lead to me leaving this game. 2. The difficulty doesn’t makes sense or matter. The actual gameplay gives a huge advantage to the opponents in that their rate of increase of soldiers is about double yours. So that’s difficult, and feels a bit unfair but ok. The real problem is that that doesn’t matter; if you lose a level, you have the option of watching an ad and you’ll be given a whole bunch of soldiers for free, basically ensuring victory. So it’s a difficult game that you can win every level not by skill or luck, but by watching an ad on top of all the ads you already have to watch. The only thing that kept me coming back regularly was the offline earnings. I was opening the app at least twice a day and playing a few games. I was to the point of earning 280,000,000 coins per hour offline, 50,000 starting troops, 7000 units per second build speed. Yes, the play never really improved because the AI becomes difficult to fight. The real problem I have? Upgrades now cost me 24,000,000 (rate) coins and 14,000,000(armies)…. each! The only way to earn coins is to watch adds. For watching 2-3 adds, I can earn 2,000,000 coins. I was happy to watch adds when I felt like I COULD make progress. This update took that away. The developer’s Director of Monetization should be fired. That person just lost the developer a LOT of customers! Myself included. You can avoid playing or watching ads by playing offline or in airplane mode, because as long as you are connected to the internet they will play. The bots start getting overpowered after a while and even with the upgrades and extra coins to spend the bots keep getting further away from your level. I have 270 starting troops atm but the enemy AI has over 380 which makes a lot of the games difficult especially at the start of the match. 1v1 matches at this point seem like bait to force you to call in reinforcements, not to mention the tendency for the AI to see you have less troops from the start and immediately all 3 enemies focus your zones. ✓ Un-balanced ads vs. game playLoved the game play at first, but being forced to watch an ad after every round is a bit obnoxious. I am usually playing a game like this for some mindless distraction but this game is an ad farm nothing more. You play a round you can win in 20-30 seconds then have to watch an ad that takes 45-60 seconds. You can close the game after each round and skip most of the ad but then you are faced with a worse problem. You only get the measly amount of coin they give you for winning which is no where near enough to keep up with the again horrible unbalanced AI players. They will advance in numbers and growth and start to crush you around levels 30 to 50 depending on if you watch the ads for 3x coin. In the end you can enjoy the game for about 2-4 hour tops then it becomes unplayable outside of tripling your time just watching ads which will extend that time frame. Everything above is not even mentioning the horrible ad content and methods. The ads say they are 30 seconds but in reality are more like 45-60. They also make the X button intentionally small so you inadvertently select the ad and have to do that 3-5 times before finally exiting the ad. Then the content of their ads are abhorrent. There’s very little strategy beyond expanding faster and having more than your enemies, in terms of territory and troops, but to be perfectly honest, that’s the core gameplay loop of a World Conquest EU4 game with everything stripped to its barest component parts. Part. Which is not to say it’s GREAT, it’s fine. It’s incredibly simplistic, and that would be okay if it was particularly flashy or had a little bit more going on, or was very flexible in its customisation options. But it isn’t on either count. Two colours, and really not that much customisation in the icons and dots. But what really kills it is the overabundance of ads. Every single time you beat a level, which could take about a minute, you have to watch an ad to progress. You can choose whether to receive a x3 coin reward for watching the ad, but you have to watch it anyway (this might not be what the devs intended, but it’s how it’s perceived in-game). It gets real old real fast. Oh, and every time you beat a ‘stage’ of however many battles, you have to watch an ad to receive the reward at the end. It’s absurd. You spend half your playtime watching ads, which is not how it should be. It’s not how it NEEDS to be. The devs keep responding to negative feedback about the ads and the presumably broken end of level “watch ad to receive more coins or not” situation for at least months. Every update says exactly the same thing, talking about making the game faster and ‘more convenient’. Obviously not for the player. ✓ Don’t Waste Your TimeThe game has terrible AI. Either the levels are so easy you cannot lose OR so hard you cannot win. It’s pointless! The competition on some levels starts out with 30 and a growing number that increases at an exponential rate for the higher number you have and so when you start with 11 by the time you have 25 the competition (which started with 30) is at 50. For a game that is literally based on attacking with numbers this means you are at a huge disadvantage. But as if that wasn’t bad enough, then when you have levels with 3 competitors at least 2 of them gang up on you and don’t attack each other. So before I even get started I’m getting decimated with no chance to even compete. And then there are levels where they only attack each other and you can literally sit back and wait and accumulate an army and decimate them. No in between and not intuitive AI. I think it’s a game designed to simply get you to watch ad’s so they can make money and that’s it. Sadly, that’s all to common these days! Very dumb game!
