CollX: Sports Card Scanner for Negative User Reviews

Great Idea, not so great in applicationLet me start by saying that this app has a ton of potential and seems to be one of the only ones out there but there is some issues I have in the app actually working. When it does work man is it great but when it doesn’t (when you have to search manually for a card it takes forever to even do anything) you can be as specific about a card but will still keep searching for random other cards that nothing to do with what you are looking for. Again, I think is a great idea but I am thinking that it can be improved on..Version: 1.4.13

Needs lots of WorkYour search function is god awful..Version: 1.5.3

I wanted to give it a better rating but...It was working fine for a few days but now as of today when I log on it says I have no activity. No cards display even though it tells me I have 609 in my collection. The prices were way off and half the time it didn’t want to recognize cards. I have a newer iPhone and the camera takes great pictures so it isn’t because the picture quality is bad. This app is a great idea but it needs a lot of work. I was excited to find a sports card app because there isn’t really one out there. This just isn’t it, at least right now..Version: 1.2

Needs lots of work on entering/managing collectionUnless I’m missing the help file—which I couldn’t find—entering a collection is a nightmare: no way to import, no way to select an entire set to enter all the cards for that set at once. Likewise collection management is very limited: no way to edit multiple cards at once, no way to view missing cards of a set, no way to view duplicates, no way to filter collection (show me all cards valuing over $50), etc. I don’t see how these people with 20,000 plus collections has the time to enter them all… entering manually without scanning, and being very efficient still takes a minimum of maybe five seconds per card. So for 20,000 cards that’s over 277 hours.!??.Version: 2.0.3

Lost EVERYTHING!🤬About a month in to building my collection and was hacked, I couldn’t get into my profile. Now everything is gone. I don’t really know what use it would be for that person, when they don’t have the cards. This app needs better security!! I will try one more time. The app seems to work well otherwise. No star rating just yet..Version: 1.5.13

Many bugs not being fixed currentlyReported issues several weeks ago after paying for a Pro subscription at $99 a year. Tan replied but doesn’t seem to fix bugs for at least a few weeks. Current issues. App ignores decimals in prices on cards sold on other sites so if I sell a card for $3.00, the app displays it sold for $300. The historical pricing on many cards is completely wrong as well showing base cards a being with thousands because their pricing algorithm includes variations and autographs card sales in the history. Leaving a bad review is a last resort to try to get some of these already reported issues fixed. Many outstanding for weeks if not months..Version: 1.6.10

Prices wowIf this app worked it would probably do what Facebook did to myspace. But it doesn’t, first some of the values of the cards are so for off it’s laughable. We all know it works alright with worthless cards from the junk wax time, but scanning cards people are collecting now only works about 1/4 of the time. I had to delete this app I couldn’t see how people could trade cards from an app that tells u a card is worts 450 dollars when it’s only worth maybe .60. And this is not just a rarity this happened quite a bit so until this gets fixed and there’s no way trust an app like this. I scanned over 2000 cards and I’m gonna say probably about a fifth of them wrong I’m gonna say it I*& about 3000 because it didn’t recognize the other ones even though more than of them were duplicates..Version: 1.5.3

Great for cataloging, but valuation should be scrappedI would have given this app 5 stars IF the pricing evaluation was even close to accurate. How they value cards is completely flawed. If 5 people post a card for sale at $100, that is not indicative of value because by definition they are not selling at that price. They can still be worth $1.50 in that scenario. For the amount they charge their pro users they should be able to integrate an api to an actual price guide. That being said, the app is great for digitally cataloging your collection but i would never pay a subscription just to print my catalog. They should have a one time purchase option when you want to do that..Version: 2.0.9

Potential, but Painful as isIve attempted to add 3 cards so far. Only 1 was detected to at least a somewhat accurate degree. When you add a card manually, there is no “search” bar. Its by Year, Name, or Team. And you just have to scroll endlessly until you find what you’re looking for. Its been 30 min and im still only 2 cards in. The third is a Contenders Rookie Ticket. Pretty standard to find, you’d think. But its not on the list after scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. I can see the potential, but this is a huge time waster of an app. Im over it. Update- I tried some simpler cards (base, non autos). They didn’t pull up. Had to enter them manually. Pricing is far from realistic. Not sure where they’re pulling these amounts from, but categorization is flakey and dollars are way off. Kinda pointless..Version: 1.2.5

Not quite ready for prime timeJust got back into collecting baseball cards this year. I was giddy when I landed this app and started taking pics of all my old cards. What a cool tool! BUT…then it didn’t recognize some of my cards (k, no big deal). You can just put in the information, right? Well, no. You cannot yet take your photo that you took in the app and add the correct information. You gotta bounce out of the app, take the pic, the come back in to add the photo and add the info. Then the $$$ estimator is way wrong about 25% of the time. With that degree of error, I have to go to Google to verify everything, so why even have it in there? Ugh. On the positive side, I like the way this sets up and it’s usability. I just need them to clean up the recognition (or at least let me add info to the photo I just took) and estimator elements..Version: 1.5.1

Great app / crappy update for proI get it, apps gotta make money. But to not grandfather in existing users or allow free collections over 500 cards is kinda ridiculous. With the new update I can no longer upload any more cards. The app is great, and loved tracking my collection under what was apparently the beta version. I’ve even told and recommended this app to many friends. Stuck with it through the buggy times, but I’m not paying $99 for pro. Sorry. Couldn’t revenue make money through ads as a supplement to the high subscription price? I’ll just move on to the next free card scanner. Thanks..Version: 2.1.4

Completely InaccurateThe app is extremely slow and crashed multiple times while I was scanning my cards. The scanning itself takes forever and is inaccurate. The prices are also wrong. It gets the prices from previously sold items on eBay but what it doesn’t say is that most of those cards have been graded or signed. I had two cards that the app said were worth over $100, but I double checked that and found that the cards that where actually worth that were graded psa 10 and signed. In reality my cards were worth $2 each. Do not trust the pricing on this app..Version: 2.0

Great concept, frustrating amount of bugsI’m super impressed with the accuracy of the scanning tool, been able to upload many cards quickly and get an idea of what they’re worth. Unfortunately there are just too many bugs that make it consistently difficult to use. Multiple times I’ll have scanned a batch of cards and all of a sudden the app crashes or logs me out, losing all progress. Multiple crashes when searching through your current collection. Searching for a card when the scanner doesn’t identify it doesn’t allow you to select it, you usually have to delete the scan and reupload later. Once these bugs are ironed out, this will be the premier sports card tracking app, I hope to be able to sell some cards on here too!.Version: 1.3.2

BadI have a signed Wayne Gretzky rookie card and it said it was only 1.50$.Version: 2.0.3

Doesn’t workI tried at leas 30 different baseball cards as they all just said couldn’t find your card this app is a waste of time.Version: 1.0.1

Does not work at all. This app does not work at all the cards don’t scan and when you go to add them yourself they don’t show up. Don’t waste your time on this app..Version: 2.0

Great Potential, Needs a lot of WorkI love the idea of this app but unfortunately the more I use it the worse it gets. I’ve spent all weekend trying to scan my collection of valuable cards into the app and I’ve been averaging about 2-3 successful scans before the app totally crashes, or loads forever and doesn’t recognize a card, or logs me out. And even worse than these issues, over the last day or two, I take a picture of my card to scan in, and it uploads a completely different picture than the card I tried uploading and the card doesn’t end up making it to my collection even though on my profile page it says I added the card. I love the thought of this app and hope it runs smoothly someday. As of now it’s frustrating to say the least..Version: 1.3.1

I want to Love It…but…There is a lot of potential here but if the app constantly crashes all that potential is irrelevant. I can’t even scroll through to view half of my collection without the app crashing and closing. There is no way to manually add cards not in their data base. Often when the cards are uploading they do not do so in the order you batch scan them and there is no way to manually sort your cards into the correct order. The potential is there but all is for not if they don’t at least fix whatever bug is causing the crashes. I will probably sense use and monitor the situation and only resume use after some improvements. As for now my recommendation is that you should record card values as you go. Don’t rely on the ability to go back later to calculate a value since you’ll find yourself unable to do so due to a relentlessly crashing app….Version: 1.1.2

Doesn’t work at all.Tried scanning about 20 different hockey cards from 1985-87 and also a Gretzky rookie card and it says card not recognized for every one. Junk..Version: 1.6.1

Follow upI recently submitted a review about how bad the newest update is. I love the IDEA of the app, and when it works right, it’s spectacular. The issue is, it almost never works right. It never recognizes newer inserts, which would be fine if the “search for card” function worked but it doesn’t. When searching, you either get infinite loading, or if you happen to find your card, when you select it, it sends you back to the card screen and still says that the card couldn’t be found. Also, I get that there’s tons of card variations, but there are some variations in which, every other card from the set seems to be in the database aside from the one you are searching. For example, 2021 Panini Playbook Zoning Commission. I have the Aaron Jones card, when searching for it, no matter what key words I use or even the ZC-AJO card “#” it shows every card in the set aside from this one. How can you have a full checklist but then just not have some in the system?! This has happened on multiple occasions, this is just the most recent example. Like I said, I LOVE the Idea of the app. The execution on it has just been mediocre. Prices are also all over the place. It should really pull from eBay recent sell or something so we can get accurate pricing..Version: 1.3.2

Can’t log in?Trying to log in Enter my email & get the error that my email was already used to sign up..Version: 1.5.13

Pretty certain prices are InaccurateI don’t think base cards are gonna be worth more than inserts, autograph cards, rare parallels etc it’s a pain to navigate, if the scanner doesn’t detect your (which is very often) to search it is an even bigger pain…you can search by sport and year which is a step in right direction but after that have fun scrolling FOREVER if it’s deep into alphabet…example: you wanna look up a card(s) from 2023 panini select draft picks you gotta scroll past a plethora of nonsense to get there. There are TONS of missing cards too like I get it’s gotta be updated into system and what not but some times you’ll go to a set that’s TONS of cards that SHOULD be there and there’s like 1-5…perhaps good for buying/selling/trading but terrible for pricing..Version: 2.0.9

Follow UpI just wrote a review & stated a few days ago I was asked to update my app once again & this has several times now within a month. I wasn’t going to do this update because it seems like every time I update the app just continues to get worse & cannot find a single card I try to scan now! It said the update would help with any problems scanning cards. Well I ended up trying for the absolute last time & nothing has changed! I’ve had to look up every single card I’ve entered, this used to be a fun app & now it’s just becoming a pain to have to type in every player & # and search for things that sometimes I’m not sure what I’m searching for when there’s 20 different ones to choose from ,especially if they’re newer cards and there’s no pictures of them..Version: 1.6.2

Ok but needs improvementWorks well to scan cards in (I’ve used it for baseball, hockey, and Pokémon cards) to determine a price and catalogue your collection digitally. The manual search is awful! Painfully awful. Especially when searching for Pokémon cards. Additionally, contacting people to try to buy cards is terrible. Good for cataloguing your collection, but almost useless for trying to buy or sell cards within the app..Version: 1.6.6

Confusion with cardsWhen it works it works right now it’s confusing my mosaic NBA cards for mosaic NFL cards. It’s not even coming close to getting the names right now it thinks Al Horford Boston Celtics is John Elway Denver Broncos, the rest it doesn’t even recognize..Version: 1.6.4

What is this good for?You can't find anything much for higher end cards. You can't find me cu for lower end cards. You just can't find much at all especially with the picture search. Maybe if y'all would hire a couple people who are dedicated to the sports card life instead of only folks with a degree then y'all would lose that issue! Cards are my life and I personally research so much that most cards I get, I already know the value of and run a business of my own and that is without a degree in anything! Finding prices and sending them to the powers that be via email should not require a degree but whatever y'all can make some changes or y'all stay stagnant..Version: 2.0.3

Big Thumbs DownScanned around 7 different Pokemon Cards from different sets and not 1 time did it verify the card. Crap.Version: 1.6.6

BensonIt literally said first edition cloister and first edition Ekans were two cents.Version: 2.1.4

Price problemYou should link the price of cards directly to eBay. Some of the avg price on the app is absolutely unrealistic. Beside that nice app overall.Version: 2.0.3

Great App with a ton of bugs.I want to state that there really isn’t another app like this on the market that lets you scan, trade, sell, follow others and make connections for all things trading. It is an extremely deep app with everything that you can do with it. However, it is buggy. I would say every 6 cards that you scan and upload, they can’t find and doing it manually usually never works. So I close and have to restart the process. The app will also default to more exotic versions of pretty straightforward cards (ie, Canadian or O Peech ee versions of standard Topps cards.) The biggest issue I have is that I get logged out of the app probably 10 times an hour. That is not an exaggeration. I’m on 1g U/D speeds and I test the connection every time it happens. Nothing unusual on my end. I did find that if I wait for all processes to finish before moving on to the next one, it works as it should, but that’s not how an app should work in 2022. Real-time should be standard. I complain because I believe in the app. Seriously, what it does at its core is amazing. Scan, find price, organize and sell on different platforms? I’ve been on other apps that do less than a fraction if that and it’s free? Dude. I will (highly) recommend this with the criticisms I’ve laid out. Once these bugs get fixed this will be the industry standard going forward. I’m pumped..Version: 1.3.2

CardsIt’s doesn’t recognize the cards to well and the prices are way off also.Version: 1.2.8

FIXI think anyone who uses the app would agree with me on this when I say the app NEEDS to be optimized. Sometimes the app sits on a loading screen when opening, cards aren’t recognized, app crashes time to time, and I can’t scroll through my cards and fix the ones that are mislabeled. I have over 10k cards scanned but had to miss out on over 1k because they simply couldn’t be read.(nothing wrong with the cards)First priority should be to make the app run smoothly, second should be to expand the database used for identifying the cards. As for the scanning part, an idea, make it so we can scan a full page of 9 cards to make it go faster? I feel like it’s possible but only if the app ran smoothly without any bugs. With all this being said, this app is great. As far as I know this is the only app where you can scan, sell, and connect with others to show off your collection. Like I said, I have over 10 thousand cards scanned so I’ve spent a decent amount of time on the app scanning and TRYING to find the right cards if the scan was messed up..Version: 1.4.8

Pricing is untrustworthyI’ve used cataloguing apps for my Magic collection that scans cards mostly accurately and allows you to select which marketplace to use for pricing, along with Low, Mid, and Market values. I’ve been away from sports cards for a while but wanted to scan and inventory my large collection for insurance purposes. This app is easy to use for scanning, though I think it’s image database to match cards too is very incomplete, especially when it comes to matching variants/parallels. I have to manually correct it. I think it’d also be helpful if there was serial # data in the listing options (let’s say you have the variant serial #d to 100 but all the listing options look almost the same) so you can make sure you’re matching it to the correct version. I also noticed that is relies on eBay pricing, which can be super unreliable, especially if certain cards don’t make it onto eBay or sellers price their cards at “asking for” prices vs “sold for” and their asking price might actually be for a more rare version of that card (incorrectly listed). So you’re $2 card might incorrectly be valued at $200 because of wrong listings from eBay. I wish there was a more accurate or relatable way to price cards (maybe pull pricing from more than one source), or a better filtering process. I know things can only get better, though! So I’m hopeful!.Version: 1.5.6

Great potentialApp worked great until I added around 20 cards into the system, after that it has been very irritating trying to get this app to work. The loading time is insanely slow and some of the time it pops up with “an error occurred” when trying to load things. Great potential but man does this app truly need some grit and grind to get some of these bugs patched up, truly makes me want to delete the app and go back to Ebay with how bad the bugs are, but I’m going to wait until the next couple of updates come out because I would love a fully functioning version of this app..Version: 1.2.2

It was good until the new updateI would not recommend this app for collectors I absolutely used to love this app, it was easy to scan and to use. I even tried to sign up for there ambassadors but after this new update it added so you can only add 500 cards Which is terrible considering I already scanned 5000 cards and now I can’t see all my cards or add any more. The only way you can add more is to pay monthly for the app. This really made me upset because I spent so much time on this app. They started out as a father son app trying to make things easier but now there making it harder for collectors..Version: 2.1.2

Too restrictive and can be a little difficult to useI have been trying to digitize my cards collection for a couple months. but after a recent update, they put a very restrictive paywall in place that puts a cap on how many cards you can save. obviously this is a problem and the main reason i, personally, am gonna find a different app. It also has a hard time identifying newer cards and i usually have to search for them manually, which wouldn’t be a huge complaint if the manual search wasn’t so buggy. bugs like closing the window you use to search or displaying an error message that doesn’t go away. it’s very frustrating trying to use the manual search..Version: 2.1.2
