✓ CamerasHow do you have cameras but they don’t work , what’s the point of having them. They have not worked for 4 days now and nobody has done anything. ✓ Hot garbageSince COtrip switchs every year or so, this is the latest disappointment. The information is rarely current and the best way to learn when a Highway is closed, is to be stuck in traffic after reading roads are clear on the app. Also, while it great to read about random Highways, why not emphasize the busiest and most traveled roads? ✓ Often wrong, hard to navigateUS 6 Loveland pass sometimes shown closed when it is not and usually shown open when the road is closed. Difficulty navigating the app means the only thing it is good for is looking at the cameras - when they work and are clean enough to show road conditions. It’s a bad app that replaced a useful app. The old app indicated travel times between various points and was easier to use. ✓ Link needed to old website please!The new website and this app are both totally unusable. Why did you take away the “Routes“ from the old website? I don’t need to see a map, with multiple highlighted colors that I can’t see because I’m color blind… I just need to know that on route ID 54 (from the old website Golden to Silverthorne)… what the speeds are between critical exits, any traffic alerts, road conditions, and a quick flip through of the available cameras along with that route… in a written text format. I don’t want to have to try and swipe along a multi colored Road, while pinching and un-pinching the screen on my smaller phone. ✓ Useless appNot sure why this app was released if half of the features don’t work. No account access, does not display major road closures (ie. I-70 closed in both directions for hours, etc…). ✓ UnintuitiveThis is a very unintuitive app. I use a lot of software programs, and this one is very difficult to use. For example, the time calculation is stuck on walking. As a commercial driver I depend on them to know what the winds are doing so I don’t get blowed over this is horrible you need to go back to the old one or do you need to make a simple copy what Wyoming does. ✓ DisappointingI travel from Aurora to Gunnison often and would like to view the cameras before and during the trip. However, so many of the mountain camera are nonfunctional. We need more and better real-time road information so we can trip plan and chose alternate route early. ✓ The up grade took away over half the traffic camerasTraveling the I25 and I70 I used all the previous traffic cameras. To see what the Hwy looks like and what the traffic looks like in real time. No over half of those cameras and videos are gone. It’s a very useful tool, to plan stopping points and help time loads. Knowing what the weather is all along the route seeing which lanes are blocked seeing if the road is just wet or snow packed. ✓ Better than the website, but still not usefulEasier to use than the mobile website because at least the map area is a little bigger. But still doesn’t help me understand what’s going on with the huge traffic jam on I70 (and if it is being cleared or what). I tried looking at the cameras, I can see a map with little camera icons but when I tap them nothing happens. Does the app show road conditions along the route I’ll inevitably take given that I-70 is closed? Nope! ✓ So much worse than the original COTripThe decision to make this a “planner” which focuses on driving directions was a horrible one. Google Maps and Waze, as well as proprietary car makers’ in-car mapping work superbly. So why recreate the wheel with this one? COTrip worked superbly as an indicator of road conditions (verifiable with the cameras and now eliminated video cams) for Colorado residents/voters who know how to get where they are going. You could easily check what your drive was going to be like and plan alternate routing (or delay your trip) if traffic was heavy or conditions were dangerous. Now, with 75% of the screen taken up with useless top, bottom and side bars and icons, the map is tiny, and cameras (only still) hard to access. Conditions and traffic are not updated in real time, which is especially frustrating when ColoradoDOT Twitter feed is also rarely updated. Information presented is inaccurate because it shows no details of detours that I know are in place because i live here and see the flashing sign information and rerouted traffic. ✓ COtrip camerasMost of the time the cameras in Western Colorado are not working. People on the western slope have to travel and go to work as well as others in the state. Also the old app made it much easier to open the cameras in your area. Now the entire state opens and not just the area that you last visited. ✓ Slightly improved for non driving use.How about a simple non-graphical interface that can be used with one finger that lets you see what’s coming on your route. ✓ Change to app got rid of all utilityThe website used to have accurate leg travel time and road conditions. The app does not update based on your travel, doesn’t report estimated leg travel time, and you can’t tell there’s traffic until you’re already stuck in it. ✓ Two levels of terribleThere are two levels of terrible here. One is the app itself. The user interface designers made inexplicable choices. More importantly, CDOT’s data flow into this system makes the app mostly worthless. The timeliness, quality, and quantity of information CDOT feeds into the system of their lit road information signs, website, and app means that even a finely polished app would be useless. I get it. It’s challenging. CDOT is one thing, local dispatch another, reality on the ground yet a third. But CDOT is mostly useful as an agency for awarding various contracts (including to make an app). The actual value added by, say, having employees who can use their creativity and skills to integrate these data streams better to make CDOT’s road information system better, is close to 0. Don’t worry – CDOT can award a contract for that (to someone who doesn’t really get it)..All_nicks_takenVersion: 4.4
