Tales of Luminaria-Anime games for Positive User Reviews

Love the game so farSo far the game is fun and I like the characters only problem I have is the camera in combat is really weird I feel it would make more sense for this game to be landscape.Version: 1.0.9

Like playing an anime, complete with episodes. Needs UI overhaul.I really like the idea of a playable anime with an ensemble cast whose stories intersect in unexpected ways. I especially like the way episodes end with an anime-style closing sequence. However, the UI in this game is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. It is completely unintuitive. I’m talking messy and unfocused beyond belief. It takes way too much effort to find what to tap on or where to go to perform any basic task. Equipping characters is a nightmare. This needs nothing short of a complete UI overhaul to live up to its potential..Version: 1.1.2

BEST ANIME RPG SO FARI’ve played almost every anime rpg on the App Store and so far this is the game I’ve been looking for. Controls are simple and easy 10/10. The gameplay runs smoothly and your not interrupted after every single chapter with long boring cutscenes so when there is a cutscene it’s actually appreciated because it’s a bit of a break from the action. Graphics 10/10. I wish every anime game had the same gameplay style honestly. The main menu is simple and easy to navigate. There is even an option to “take a break” which lets you stop in the middle of a chapter and you can pick up anytime from your last checkpoint without losing your progress. This seems more like a platform game if anything I’m loving it so far. I always say less is best and most anime games out there focus too much on everything else but the actual gameplay and seems more like a chore to play. This game is fun and you guys have perfected where the other games have failed. The only complaint that I have is that sometimes the enemies can go off screen and the view could be a bit narrow, although there is an arrow underneath that always points to them you could still be caught off guard and hit with an attack if your facing multiple enemies. If you can manage to fix this and add controller compatibility then this game would be perfect..Version: 1.0.5

Controls, needs controller compatibility.I pretty much agree with most of the criticism towards this game. Please, please, and I can’t stress this enough….PLEASE implement controller compatibility. Absolute must if the devs really care about making this game better. Combat is very wonky and odd. Personally I'm a fan of wide screen as well for games like this. But that’s just my preference. Other than that, really solid game overall. That is all..Version: 1.1.1

Great game so farIt’s a really good game so far different style of gatcha which is really interesting only thing I would want is an auto feature to be added as if you don’t have time to play while working you can still have it on.Version: 1.0.5

It’s not badI do not know why this game is getting all this hate. From the start I loved how the game goes and how every character will have a story. Honestly the graphic is good too for a mobile game that’s going to have such a large story line. The only thing I’m concerned with is the episodes. They should be out sooner :).Version: 1.0.5

Fun gameThis is one of the most fun JRPG games I’ve played in a while. I love the Tales of game series already and I love the idea of exploring different characters ideas of what’s right and what’s wrong. It was also nice that it wasn’t as pay to win centric. You can if you want to but you can earn the gems by just playing the game and completing missions so it’s not a necessity. I’m looking forward to new episodes unlocking..Version: 1.0.10

Good game with some flaws in the gameplayPersonally I love almost everything about it. First off Its portrait mode so if you don’t like that you may not enjoy it. I’ll say what I dont like now. It’s camera and the dodge mechanic are clunky and it seems you can’t dodge while moving so you need to stop moving and then swipe. The other issue is some Celia’s secret missions seem not to fit her playstyle resulting in unfair circumstances of defeat, at time of review I’ve played all 7 episodes released as of launch but only did Leo’s and Celia’s secret missions so far. The secret missions are optional but give good amount of gacha currency. I’ll probably update review when I play more secret missions. Now onto the positives. Fantastic and engaging story so far, fun characters that have incredible interactions, all 21 characters you start with, pretty graphics and the gacha feels pretty fair as far as gacha goes. Oh and the release schedule rn is one new episode per week (episodes are about 1 hour long and very fun to play) Overall 4.5/5 rounded up to 5/5..Version: 1.0.5

Great game to play, and to watch! This is a pretty good game that makes me feel like playing an AAA action jrpg, so dont look at it as a usual gotcha game with auto-play all the way through. each character has its own combat style, and they are all free to play. the story telling is cool too, it keeps going while in action, so no more boring live-2d pictures with wall-of-text..Version: 1.0.8

Love this gameI love this game because it has a pretty good story and unique characters. I especially like August and Amelie. The episode OP is very very good. The song by Frederic is great and the animation is awesome. The generous amount of free pb-stones you can get by playing episodes and through missions are very nice. There is also a free daily single gacha pull. These points are very much appreciated. The in game cutscenes are slightly low quality, but I’ve gotten used to that and find the enjoyment in them. I am so hyped for the Japanese voiceovers.Version: 1.1.1

Next level designThe interface and overall design are phenomenal. This game seems aimed at people who actually enjoy mobile games and have played them before. So, no stopping every five seconds to explain every button and menu. Also, no 20 minute lecture on lore or anything either. Just an awesome cutscene and right to the gameplay. The missions are long too, but checkpointed so you can back out if you need/want to. As a regular player both at home and on the go, thank you for understanding how I enjoy mobile games!.Version: 1.0.5

Fun game, love gachas.I’m gunna like any gacha that’s just me, the only thing I’d like is a mini map that shows us where story objectives and npcs are… cuz with the horizontal portrait it’s a tad hard to look for… Controls aren’t too bad just make it so if we dash not using the attack button wherever they slide from becomes the angle of dashing. Because I dash sometimes and I get yeeted the other direction bro.Version: 1.0.5

Fun, Simple, Yet CompellingAs the title says, this game is easy to learn. Daily summons and little treasures here and there that you find in-game gets you coming back for more. As well as the story of course as you are on an adventure as any great Tales game in the past. Many characters to learn of and come to love. Definitely an amazing game so far. I’m expecting the rest of the game to be just as exciting..Version: 1.1.2

I love it.I often find mobile game so dull and ripetitive or often they require too much grinding to be competitive on a pvp. This game clearly try to emulate an anime. Often it’s just one battle after another with some endless and boring chat in the middle. This game is nothing like that. Character talk while you walk around a map (which is linear sure but well developed) so you can follow the story. Characters are attractive and fun. Graphic is great and the music catchy. I got the theme of the opening in my mind since this morning. The raid requires some strategy (finally). For the first time in a mobile game I pay real attention to the story and the fact that episode will be released weekly like a manga or an anime..I think it’s such a great idea. I love it and I hope this game will be around for long. I’m so glad because I was so disappointed by tales of crestoria..Version: 1.0.5

YeIt is a good game.Version: 1.0.5

This is Great Game!!I just started playing but right now i can see that this will turn out to be a great experience!! The music, the graphics, the captivating storyline, the characters; All play a part in how good this is!! I would easily tell anyone to download this game especially if you’re into anime!!.Version: 1.2.1

Good gameI do want to encourage the development team by giving 5 stars. The overall design, like characters , story and map are fantastic and I hope to keep playing/ seeing continuous update/upgrade. But like everyone else’s comments here, the control is a super big issue, obviously a disaster. Look forward to seeing improvements moving forward..Version: 1.0.6

After a weekThe story has managed to keep me engaged and the character banter is on the level of a mainline Tales of entry. While I do think the gacha rates are terrible (you aren’t guaranteed even a 4 star in a 10 pull) it’s nice that it’s not necessary for you pull well to engage in the story. The camera and controls are clunky but I have seen a lot worse controls and they are serviceable for now but they do need to be refined more. Overall I would recommend you at least holding out while trying it and take advantage of how easily you can re roll your first pull.Version: 1.0.5

Love itHello I played the your game and it’s great so far but I have some suggestions for you developers. I was thinking you should add a open world, were you chose the character you want and explore the open world, were you can farm and others stuff and later on add multiplayer up too 30 pre server and I know servers are not that easy so take your time on it and with the open world guilds can fight other guilds in a guild war and do world guild boss. So I think if you add a open world and open multiplayer world you probably get more people to Play and etc..Version: 1.0.5

Amazing with problems.First of all, I own this game on my phone, and I’m using my iPad to review it. I don’t know why either. Anyway, this game is great. From characters to customization and even some parts of the gameplay, this game is a great addition to the series (Even if I don’t see it as a Tales game), and allows for more pathways for the series in the future. The summon rates are top-notch, and they don’t cost a lot. However, like everyone, there are problems. 1: Roll This is used to dodge attacks, right? Well, yes. But it can get annoying to the point that it kills you. In one part of the game (Roal Ep. 1) where you are running away from a boulder. Where I did this the first time, I touched the movement button and dodged into the boulder, killing myself. 2: Missions Missions are used to give you something to do. They can span from “Cook 3 Dishes” to “Raise a Character to lvl. 50.” This itself is fine, but it is so hard to get the in-game currency, PB Stones. They give so little when some should give much more. Those are problems with the game. Only 2 so far, but they are there. The game is great, but has problems. Thank you for reading and have a good day..Version: 1.0.9

The devs care ❤️Love how the developers are working to improve the user interface and options and are listening to feedback. Also a neat idea now you only summon for equipment to increase in power, but can end up being limited if your gear isn’t enough and you depend on RNG to get what you need 😅 Noble pass upgrades your daily summon, grants 60 pb stones, a noble ticket which after 3 months let’s you upgrade level cap. Unfortunately still no other deals and the only special summons are for birthday banners 😅 Love the characters and their banter, episodes are fun ❤️. Unfortunately they are slowing down to one episode a week now that most characters have at least had a guest appearance. For those of you who have met Leo: stay noble! 😂❤️.Version: 1.0.8

First impressionAfter finishing the first episode of the game I can confidently say that this game has potential. The characters seem interesting and the general plot seems like it has potential as well. The only thing holding this back is the somewhat clunky controls. If the controls and camera movement are fixed it will make this game much more appealing to a wider audience.Version: 1.0.5

Great game, frustrating controlsI can get behind the “play with one hand” appeal, but other games do it so much better (Dragalia Lost) because the joystick isn’t static. At least give options for a separate movement/attack button, static joystick, or a free floating joystick. Other than that it’s a superb game with great graphics and memorable characters. Updated review: I gave it a 4 stars, up from 3 stars, because the devs are definitely listening to our feedback by addressing issues with each update. Controls are still a bit frustrating when the joystick does the Hold Attack instead doing a dodge or when even trying to simply move your character..Version: 1.0.9

Scratches the itch for a tales gameI like how the food is much more essential in this tales game, since some characters do not get companions in the story as a supporting character. I wish the episodes were longer, like a full fledged tales game on consoles, with more than just 10 levels. Other than that it was a blast to play, with each and every character having different starting areas and maps, and some with different map gimmicks like puzzles and traps..Version: 1.1.2

So Fun and So FantasticI love this game, I don’t get to play a lot of games with my schedule but this game is definitely a fun game for my limited time. The individual chapters helps to stop when I need to. Fun gameplay and the many different characters are fun to use.Version: 1.0.5

LeeI think this game is great and when is there going to be new chapters in this game.Version: 1.0.6

Fun game butThe only thing that annoys me is the small game base.Version: 1.0.9

Fun episodic gameSuch a great cast of characters plus the stories are fun and seem like it will get really good. Only issue is the controllers make it hard to play. With the attack button being in only one spot you’ll end up missing it and rolling a lot. Controller support would be nice and I would enjoy a pc port to a platform like steam for when I’m home. The gacha feels weird here as it doesn’t feel like a gacha game so it’s gonna be hit hard in reviews for that along with being for only gear. There was probably a better way to handle monetization for the game. Hopefully you guys recover from the rough start because I look forward to more of the story..Version: 1.0.5

Cautious optimism. The game itself is great, especially its interesting combat and exploration of the areas. The story of some characters so far have gone from interesting to boring which may or may not change over future patches. The combat itself reminds me of old school dynasty warriors. My biggest problem isn’t with the game at all, but with the frequent history of Tales Mobile games being discontinued for western audiences. Tales of Crestoria being the most recent axed game come next month. I’d spend wisely on this game if I were you, lest you waste your money..Version: 1.1.2

My Tales of Luminaria First Gameplay ExperienceThe game was beautifully well done I love how the world is and all the cutscenes and all the voices dialogue especially since they’re in english language thank you and while I’m playing the game it feels like I’m actually watching an anime show I hope that as the game continue progressing that we might see it on actual gaming consoles one day in the future I would really love to play this game on PS4,PS5,Nintendo Switch etc..Version: 1.2.0

GreatA diamond in the sand, though as it suggests it is currently rough and haven’t been polished. I can see the passion in the dev while making this game, they are quite considerate for the players, it’s not p2w, free to play players dont lose out much. Though story line is normal for now, it can definitely be improved on due to a solid world building..Version: 1.0.6

Be thankfulThis game is phenomenal and totally expected to come here and see 4.9 stars. Controls are intuitive as they can be since you can’t use multiple fingers. The character building has been great as well and I look forward to playing this whenever I can. Let’s cancel giving an app low stars because you have a decade old phone with outdated software🙏🏼 Keep up the good work Bandai.Version: 1.0.5

Good but needs improvingThe more you play, the more the game grows on you. There are some things the developers need to change though. Also, would be nice if they was more vocal, been a few days since launch and they haven’t really said anything..Version: 1.0.5

I like but can’t play in present stateI downloaded and tried this game out a bit. I love Tales games as well as anime and manga. I want to keep playing, but the touch controls hurt my wrist and forearm, so I can’t play until they add controller support. I also want to hear Japanese voices when I play/watch Japanese games/anime. I’d rather wait for that than spoil my experience with English dubbing..Version: 1.1.1

Just FantasticTo me, this is one of the very best games in the whole app store. It's extremely story-rich, with 21 characters with individual interlocking stories, gorgeous cutscenes, interesting personalities, full voice-acting, and new story content every week. Plus, the fighting is really fun with 21 different playstyles. And it has lots of surprises in gameplay and story. It's very fair too. It's fun to play for free, or you can support the devs with a $5 monthly subscription for light benefits. The multi-player part of the game needs a little boosting. I'd add dungeons and a world chat. And it's true that the vertical screen is used to hinder some characters, but it's not too bad--I usually hate vertical play and I really like this game. Try it out!.Version: 1.3.0

I love this gameI love this game I don’t get why people are giving it bad reviews and it seems like most of them are just cause of visuals but I find it really nice to look at plus to those people what do u expect from a phone it doesn’t have the same hardware as a console or pc, but I love the emotions behind the characters gameplay and voice acting.Version: 1.5.0

Great mobile RPG, would like ProMotionI love the concept of a live story that unfolds for a select amount of characters rather than new faces all the time! I also like the user interface, reminds me more of a mobile app than a game which has been fun to look at and use. My only issue right now is the lack of ProMotion on iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max. I would love to scroll through menus and play the game at the high refresh rate my phone is capable of. Other than that, it’s been a joy to play and I’m looking forward to future episodes and the anime coming out soon!.Version: 1.1.2

Insane qualityAbsolutely insane quality. Art is superb and the voice overs are done well. Usually anime voice overs make me cringe but (most) of these are done so well. I personally like the vertical presentation. Sometimes I dodge instead of attack or vice versa but honestly - who cares. It’s free and it’s not a hard game so if it messes up a few times it doesn’t wreck you. Give this game a try. Hoping they’ll start dropping some Symphonia skins at some point (devs???) But there’s plenty of story content to keep me occupied in the meantime..Version: 1.0.9

Tales of LuminariaIt’s amazing the only thing I wish is that we could do all the episodes and chapters of each person regardless of anyother chapter or episode of a character or person hasn’t or has done yet like skipping ahead or just continuing the same person until we’re done with that one person’s entire story or storyline and then do a different one that way it’s more interesting and fun for everyone..Version: 1.2.1

Things to NoteAs a fan of Bandai Namco and JRPGS, I was really excited for this app and immediately signed up for pre-installation of the app as soon as I caught wind of it. It’s pretty interesting so far, I love the characters, and I love the graphics, however, I do have one gripe: the combat mechanics are a bit wonky. They’re not strange just because of their on screen controls, but it’s just really hard to control the character and execute attacks through flawless transition because of the way this is set up. I do believe, however, that this can be fixed. One thing I may suggest, if you’ll hear me out, is that controller support would be very optimal for better combat, or it may be easier to simply change around the combat buttons. Either way, it’s very promising so far, and I hope my feedback helped, even if only a little. I hope to hear back from you, Bandai. Stay great!.Version: 1.0.5

Getting better and better!I swear, the devs for this game seem to listen to the community better than those on some major console games regarding the updates and changes they’ve made. That gives me hope for the longevity of the game and hopefully this lasts much longer than crestoria did. I’m loving all of the stories, just wish we got maybe 2 a week instead of 1, but all good. I would love to see maybe a cooperative rush mode or something else; just more content outside of the episodes and usual raid would be awesome!.Version: 1.0.10

Great game but…Like everyone else has mentioned. controls are a little clunky. and the camera angle needs adjustment. a word to the developers. do away with the movement/attack button and leave the special attack button. make it where you just tap anywhere on the screen to attack. and draw your finger to move. tap the special attack buttons when necessary. everything else about this game is nothing like any mobile i’ve played. truly original. the home screen is pretty awesome as well. i’ll definitely keep playing. i also enjoy how i don’t have to read all day long. its all voice acting and good..Version: 1.1.1

Fun and DifferentThis game has very high production values - great art design and music. The stories are cheesy and fun in the best way. When I first started playing I thought the controls and combat were clunky, but after a while I’m totally addicted. In the next update they are going to have a more zoomed out camera option and I think that will help a lot, but after playing a while you get used to the system and honestly I enjoy it the way it is. There is NO ENERGY system which makes this one of the most free to play games ever. You get stronger mostly by leveling your character and pulling equipment from the gacha. If you complete the missions (by just playing) you get tons of currency for tons of pulls. The first Episode has a good story but the combat style of Leo is not as fun as some of the other characters. I recommend playing through a couple episodes before you write this game off. It’s a shame the first impressions aren’t better because I honestly think this game is a masterpiece. I think one of the reasons the first impressions are bad is because the secret missions require you to level up and power up a bit. If you try them right away they feel frustrating and impossible. There are plenty of other things to do so I recommend just ignoring them till your character is a little stronger..Version: 1.0.5

Stunningly unique but…I would like to rate it a 4.5 for the obvious reason. Configuration… it’s an awkward and unorthodox way to use the attack and moving function. I kinda hoped there was a way to switch it in the settings, so the attack button is separate from moving. I’m not upset that it’s vertical, yeah I believe landscape would make it more comfortable and enjoyable since the overall quality of the game is immersive. That being said I love how unique it is. I like the fact that it’s vertically fixed. The button lay out is different and most definitely needs getting used to. I feel like it’s a one hand type of game which is relaxing and great for playing while not inhibiting you from going about your day. But I would have still have appreciated an option to separate the attack from the moving key. All that being said it is truly a uniquely refreshing way to play this beautiful game. The graphics are amazing, the audio quality and voice acting are top notch. I appreciate all the hard work and dedication that they put into this game. I hope if anyone actually took the time to read this that they would give the game a shot. I truly enjoy playing it on my free time especially since it’s not like other typical rpg games..Version: 1.0.6

Favorite Tales Mobile GameFrankly, being able to play and experience the game one handed and vertically is the main reason this is the only mobile game Im comfortable playing in public. All the characters are lovely in their own way and the weekly episode drops are never fail to impress me. I enjoy every playable character’s mechanics in their own way. Ill try my best to support this game. Honestly, not having a Japanese dub never really bothered me since ive only ever played Tales game in the English dub. Personally, i prefer the English dub and cant hear any of the characters sounding any different. Thank you Luminaria team for releasing my favorite mobile game right now. Youve given me so many hours of fun and cant wait to see what happens next.Version: 1.0.10

Tales of LuminariaAn engaging game with a charismatic cast, great music, stunning visuals (especially for a mobile game), and varied combat styles. While the navigation and combat system may seem difficult at first, it’s quite easy to adapt to. I personally find it refreshing, as most other games of this genre fall into the same, stagnant UIs. The Devs have also been forward and open when responding to player feedback; it’s great to see a team so dedicated to not only their game, but the player base experiencing it. They want it to succeed, and with the amazing writing that has gone into this story and the characters I can see why. Skipping this game is skipping a true fantasy epic. If this game’s story were a book or a show I would read/watch it in a heartbeat. I give this game a high rating for its world building, story telling, varied character combat styles, and the effort the Devs have shown in responding to player input and concerns. It has a strong base and amazing potential - worth playing for sure..Version: 1.0.9
