✓ CoinsWhy does it cost so much? Im a young single mother, i was excited to read these stories but i cant afford to continue reading. Its a shame as they are good..Version: 1.23.0
✓ Is it worth it?There is a lot of pros and cons to this app. Do you have to spend money to read? No Do do you have to wait for chapters to unlock? Yes Can you spend money to unlock those chapters? Yes Is the pricing consistent? No (I would get different pricing for different chapters in the same novel) If you get the subscription could you avoid the timer? No, the cool down will just cut down to 30min instead of 60min. I enjoyed the story’s on the app and liked that there was a 60 min timer to unlock each chapter instead of out right paying for them. I also don’t mind paying to unlock each chapter. That’s if the pricing was consistent or even worth it. Why do I have to pay 25-30 coins for some and then 40 for others, especially if they are in the same novel. Oh and if you plan on buying the alpha novel plus make sure to keep in mind that the only thing it does is make things a little easier. You still have to do all the other daily stuff to get coins, you get a certain percentage off for coins. It doesn’t even get rid of the timer, it just lowers it to 30min instead of 60min. Personally I don’t think the alpha novel plus is worth it. If your broke and are willing to wait an hour for each chapter this is the app to go to..Version: 1.49.0
✓ They smoking crack for these pricesI paid $30+ to read one book because I was hooked. The amount of coins they charge per chapter is absolutely insane and I should’ve deleted the app after that. But I started another book just to get more coins. This time around I refuse to buy any extra coin because they’re basically robbing you on this app! Then I just realized I’m also being charged $6.99 to just have the app! They need to be shut down because they’re taking advantage of people and it’s not appreciated! ✓ Timed reading points don’t always workThe points you’re supposed to get for daily reading time don’t always accumulate. I’ve had two days this past week where I read for longer than the allotted time and nothing accumulated for me to collect. (Eg. Read for 2hrs, nothing accumulated, at the 2hr 15min mark though, I had suddenly accumulated 15min of reading time. - Should of had the full 90 that that point) Contacted their “support” on this and they “looked” into it, only to be told that there’s nothing wrong, and basically called a liar..Version: 1.39.0
✓ Add Amount of Chapters to Books!I’ve read part of a couple books so far and they are really good, despite some errors with the writing which is usually easy to understand what the author is trying to say, but I don’t know when the books are going to end and it drives me nuts! If we are to pay for a certain amount of chapters, I would like to know how many there are so I know what I would have to pay for if I can’t get enough free coins. Also, the amount we have to pay for shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. I’m only on Chapter 13 of a book and it says I need like 3,000 coins or whatever to finish and that’s like $30 worth of coins. That’s the price of ONE hardcover book! We shouldn’t have to pay so much just to read some books. ✓ IssueI was enjoying this app, but with the new update it isn’t registering the times I have read. I read for an hour and it said I didn’t read at all. It has taken 3.5 hours to show 1 hour. Had to go back on prior chapters to keep reading. A few of the chapters when I have the points to open the next chapter, if the chapter after requires less points to read, it will open that chapter and skip the one it should of opened. Very shocked that a book works out to be over £25 as the books are broken down every couple of paragraphs not by chapters. Grammar and spelling mistakes in just the 5 chapters I read. You have a brilliant platform to help launch upcoming authors and help shape the stories of tomorrow, why be greedy. ✓ In-app currencyThe app and its features and books are very nice however the in-app currency prices are a bit… high. Sounds dumb i know but hear me out. I understand that apps such as these need ways to make money and support their writers however there are free ways to get the in-app currency includes, reading for preset periods of time or leveling, which is not the problem. While you can read multiple books simply to get the coins for completing the read times they are often not enough to read on and unlock chapters and leveling requires you to spend coins on things that aren't reading in order to level up and get the promised coins. This makes it even harder to unlock chapters without spending real money on coins, which isn’t always an option for readers. ✓ Rejecting my Lycan MateMy issue isn’t with the story, it’s the app. They shouldn’t offer a book if it’s not done or fully available and sell you coins to read it. It should CLEARLY state AT THE BEGINNING that the WHOLE book isn’t available BEFORE selling coins for it. I don’t want daily releases for 4 paragraph chapters, it’s not preschool and I read quicker than a 4 year old…and paid to do so. I have emailed them, but I had made multiple purchases and I lost all my coins and my reading history, when I reset. I did what they said to try in their help center and still nothing. ✓ ExpensiveThe app is expensive, you get a few free chapters on each book then have to pay per chapter. Most of the chapters are short so need editing. You also get tasks to do like unlocking a certain amount of chapters and get coins as an award, but the amount you spend to get the award is more than the award you are given. For example is it costs 1800 coins to unlock chapters and yet the reward is only 350 coins, yeah that’s not worth it. In short there needed to be more rewards given to make it fair The stories themselves are good and gripping but have so many errors in them I’d be surprised if any editing or proofreading was done before they get uploaded. They are also drawn out to make them longer than they need to be, so customers spend more money. I think you’d end up paying well over £100 to get a story. Also the way the wallet for the app works is weird. You can’t see how many coins you have, I said you have bonus but it doesn’t partner up with the balance it saids when you buy chapters. ✓ Not as advertisedI came across this app on Facebook. It was advertised as not having to pay for books, so I downloaded it. Sure enough, after four chapters of the “hook the customer” book, it’s wanting one to buy coins to unlock chapters, and they don’t come cheap. The chapters are short, as well, making it extremely expensive to read a book. The story for the first book has promise, but it could definitely use the help of a good editor. I’m not sure the stories are worth the price they’re asking. I much prefer the Galatea app where one can unlock a chapter at no cost by waiting six hours. I don’t mind waiting six hours, and I have 20+ books going at one time, so there’s always something to read for free. Have I ever purchased extra points to unlock a chapter earlier? Yes, but it’s my choice not to wait the six hours in that case. No one is holding a chapter hostage until I spend money to unlock a chapter. Their business model is one that this app should consider. ✓ Was okay at first…2 months later not!This app was okay at first but then I started noticing problems. 1. It often times will charge you for chapters you’ve already paid for 2. Free books are not really free 3. It doesn’t keep track of your coins for example I just clicked on a chapter to see how much it was, my coin balance was 56 I didn’t buy the chapter. I went to another book clicked on the next chapter my coin balance was suddenly 8 coins 4. If you click on a chapter multiple times the price goes up. ✓ Lots of faultsSome great reads but require good memory for the gaps between each short chapter. The free chapter every hour is good but there are lots of times when you’ll wait the hour (even get the notification) but when you go on it the chapter hasn’t become available and just shows the hour timer restarting or it gives you the chapter before. You also get a lot of notifications saying Open to get free points/coins but when you click on it nothing happens. The app would be greatly improved if you’d fixed this. I am frustrated because I do buy coins for my fav books but now even the others aren’t having time limits and I refuse to purchase coins for every single book I read. Second, these authors need editors. I am a book editor and I can tell you not a single author here double checks their work or uses spellcheck. Third, you have some authors that are using the AI chat yo write their books and it’s blatantly obvious and brings the value of this platform way down. ✓ GoodThis app is great because you can read and do other challenges to get coins in the beginning. This would have been given 5 stars except in the beginning of each book you can opt to wait an hour to unlock a chapter. Then it changes to coins only when you’ve reach a chapter in the 70’s once you’re hooked. Of course you have to purchase coins to finish the book since the chapters are small and you end up reading 5 pages for one chapter and can’t possibly read long enough to get coins through the daily reading challenges. ✓ Coins are Stupid 😡If your going to make me pay for a monthly premium package I shouldn’t have to keep buying coins to read. Bump up you monthly subscription fee and expend how long, like I pay $60 for no adds for a whole year on Wattpad and can read as much as I want for without having to buy coins to read chapters and with that subscription I also get I believe 20 unlocks for paid stories. The books on here on good so far but I won’t buy the coins cause that’s just stupid..Version: 1.49.0
✓ Too many paywallsIt’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing to get 30 chapters into a story only to have the app say I HAVE to pay to keep reading and I can’t even wait to access the next chapter anymore. Paying for a premium subscription does absolutely nothing to solve this problem either from what I can tell paying for the subscription just gives you access to a different app icon. I’m just deleting the app and moving on it’s such a scam..Version: 2.0.1
✓ Horrible AppI’m no stranger to reading apps, I’ve been an avid reader since I was two years old and I’m a novelist of fourteen years. Never have I uninstalled a reading app so quickly, less than twelve hours. The books I read, only three chapters of each, were uninspired, dull and poorly written. From over-narration of the protagonist’s backgrounds, A LOT of telling and inadequate showing, handling a tense and emotional situation poorly (making it almost offensive and trivial in the process), and grammar worse than a middle schooler’s, I found no joy in this app. I do not recommend and would suggest Galatea instead..Version: 1.34.2
