Watch out for the Shipping and HandlingYou’ll feel like you’re getting a deal or finding a gem until that shipping and handling gets you. Best bet is to keep hunting in person. If it’s a 1c shipping deal the cost is hidden in the initial bid, if it’s a cheap auction win the cost is hidden in the shipping and handling. What a shame, could be an amazing idea that helps people and brings money in to Goodwill..Version: 2.3

Needs some workAside from being glitchy - it’s not that bad. The timing on website maintenance could be better. I’ve had the app just freeze then display a message that they’re doing maintenance & “we’ll be right back” in the middle of bidding which really spoils the whole experience. My only suggestion would be to implement the same shipping policies across all locations. The shipping charges when buying multiple items can get really prohibitive, and to have the “buy it now” items not combine for shipping - you’re losing sales. You guys need to find a way for people to purchase the auction items AND the buy it now items and combine the shipment/shipping charges. I’ve passed on purchasing things because of this, and I’ll bet others have as well..Version: 2.3

Frustrating AppThis app feels straight out of 2000. The interface is bad, it’s extremely buggy and always slow. My biggest complaint is that when you try to check out with an in store pickup order, the app doesn’t even let you proceed to payment or check out. This is insane as that should be one of the core functionalities or their platform..Version: 2.3

No thought no good willI use to to shop good will until yesterday, I saw a hateful item on their app up for bidding what would a company or organization like good will help selling hate items shame on good will, I won’t do business with them again nor will any of my family members, I hope they do sell it just put in the trash where it belongs. I ask apple to pull good will App from you store I can show you my screenshot..Version: 2.3

Bad willCustomer Service needs improvement! I agree with another reviewer that goodwill is greedy overall! Many items are way overpriced, especially jewelry items. While there are several locations who have been kind & understanding if I needed to cancel an order, some of them have re-sold items that took too long for payment on, but it still shows as an unpaid item on my account, and ive been penalized for it! After 3 of these instances, your account gets flagged & you’re unable to bid on any more items. This sets up a very unfavorable relationship for the customer. Customers should never be penalized! I am not interested in continueing to patronize a business who acts as if they are doing me some kind of favor by ALLOWING me to purchase from them. And I agree with another reviewer, who said sometimes the item arrives in much worse condition than was depicted in the ad. Yet there’s no recourse for this. If you’re trying to get rid of stuff, please avoid donating to goodwill!! All they do is line the pockets of the uppers in the company. Donate to a local thrift store with a good mission & a documented program of giving back to your community..Version: 1.2

Shill biddingI have learned to live with the glitchy app and can make it do what I want. Surely they would have more sales though, if the app was designed right. The good thing is, it probably sends potential buyers running and that way you can sometimes get a bargain price. However, sometimes is not all the time. I have bought numerous items and have noticed sometimes when you will put in a max bid they will bid you up internally seconds before the auction ends. One of my last items I was bidding on and it actually said I was out bid. In the morning I received an email saying I had won! But for my max bid price! How does that figure? I’ve noticed it numerous times where I was bid up to my max bid. Either a bot or people are internally shill bidding and we aren’t supposed to notice. Be cautious of putting max bid prices on items..Version: 2.0

Poor Design & Poor Customer ServiceUsually I don’t mind some clunky apps as they tend to improve over time with popularity, however what I have found is that this app (which sells their inventory that they got for free) can’t seem to put a little bit of that cash back into their apps, or into their customer service. After having an issue with a bid I won and noticing I should contact customer service I was surprised to find that customer service didn’t exist. You will talk with the seller for any technical issues you come across. And I say talk loosely because I had NO communication. Granted a few stores are highly active but there’s a lot that refuse to respond. Also, more of a nitpick but how is it that some stores are willing to ship large heavy items and other make you pick up your item in store even if it’s a small printed painting that would easily fit in a 1ft x 1ft box. There’s no consistency in what is shippable and non-shippable. After COVID-19 you would think more places would be apt to ship items to homes ESPECIALLY an app that does online bidding. If the item is too big to ship then put it in your store and sell it on the floor. Plain and simple..Version: 1.2

Not User Friendly and MisleadingThe app is okay. It’s buggy sometimes and the navigation is anything but smooth or intuitive. I’ve also had to return several items for arriving broken or being grossly misdescribed in the listing. All of the treasures you used to be able to find at Goodwill are now on here for either the same price as eBay or ridiculously more. Most of the time the people listing the items have no idea what the item is or what it’s worth, and will make the starting bid twice as much as any sane person would pay for it. This app is a poorly developed cash grab.Version: 1.3

Don’tApp issues aside, this is an awful shopping experience. I bid $19 for a pair of sandals and my total cost with “shipping and handling” was $40. I also bought a purse that I had to pay a lot of extra money for “handling” on and it came stuffed in a box that was so small that it tore open and the purse was bent. Customer service said they have no control over how individual stores price and ship their items and made sure to remind me it’s for a good cause. A good cause is not an excuse for price gauging and horrible service and packaging..Version: 1.3

Constant GlitchingEven though it wasn’t as nice looking, I much prefer the app the way it used to be. Every time I scroll through items it glitches and then adds %20 before the brand or item I put in the search bar. It’s not even usable like this. Guess I’ll just be using my computer and browser from now on!.Version: 1.4

EVIL BEHIND THE CURTAIN!Worst customer service, hugely scalping customers on shipping and otherwise, and no recourse because they got you by the balls. They are greedy liars, period. No integrity, no accountability. My solution: DO NOT ENGAGE. As far as the app itself, why bother? There are so many hundreds of issues with their website still, that of course their app is entirely a waste of time. Clunky is not the word. I really loathe these guys. I wish their nonprofit status would get revoked. They are despicable..Version: 2.1

Sounds like a good idea, But…I’ve bought many things off this site and have gotten done great deals. That said I have also gotten pure trash. Unfortunately the mentally disabled and the drug abusers they hire aren’t swift enough to test if something works or is complete. If you check you can get most things cheaper on EBay. I have deleted my account and will not shop this site again..Version: 2.1

Self investAnother forced update. Every few weeks you force people to update. No other app I’ve seen forces u to update before you can use the app. Every time you do this you lose customers. No reason to force people into it at least not at first wait a few months people don’t have time to constantly download updates they’re just gonna leave your side that day at least and there’s a sale lost. You need to get rid of your current web team. You're making plenty of money on this app and it's been around for quite a few years already so it's time to fix all the problems with it they've been there since the beginning like the search function you can't click the magnifying glass or hit enter to search you have to hit the word search?.. come on you're wasting your users time, time they could be buyingPick up only items need to be labeled before you open the item and it should also say before you open the item where you have to pick it up. The back button goes all the way back to the homepage instead of back one step. That's erasing whatever you have done in between enable. Enable search history. Teach the stores to take closer readable pictures of the boxes or manuals with all thefeatures so they can be read and also put a little higher resolution on your site so they can be read too.Version: 2.2

Good-NothingWeak, non-support! Site location’s claiming to be the one’s who are selling items at auction, have no idea what you’re talking about when you call directly, to follow up on a paid item that has not been shipped. They try to send you to a website where all you get is AI…. FAIL!!! Missing a paid for item from AZ, an auction I bid on, was all of a sudden canceled and NO RESPONSE from customer service when I followed up!!! I feel there is an inside “job” going on here… GW bidder’s that Jack the bid’s, insider’s that realize what’s being sold and cancel the auction, so they can sell privately… NOT ONE CUSTOMER SERVICE MEMBER HAS EVER CALLED ME BACK AFTER MULTIPLE REQUESTS!!! I’ve made my last attempt with GW… once… IF, the HUNDREDS of dollars I’ve paid already on items at auction, are delivered! This operation is shady!!! Warned!!! DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! Their behavior does not reflect their claim to be an entity of Good Will! Hope you read this, Corporate! I feel a claim needs to be filed!! How many does it take before you get your act together!!??.Version: 2.3

Was goodUsed to be pretty good. Many glitches. Won something and there was no pay option! Then they gave me an unpaid item strike . The item is still in my account asking me to pay. When I emailed three times they finally after 7 days respond and say I never paid and they sold the item. There is also no share option to share an item to text a friend. Only email and Facebook. Used to be there..Version: 1.5

App is great but buyer bewareGoodwill in PA doesn’t wrap well for shipping. I just got my order and it was broken. It’s a fun app however you need to decide if you want to pay a lot in shipping and then run the risk of it getting broken. Also some goodwills are really good at measurements on their listing and others there’s nothing and then you get the item and it’s miniature. There are good deals but be selective!.Version: 1.4

Needs complete overhaulI love shop Goodwill. However, the website leaves much to be desired. The customer support message center is a horrible mess. It’s difficult to see when support has even mailed back. The timer on auctions does not automatically update as it does on eBay. The overall look of the website looks like it was some thing that was designed in the 90s..Version: 2.1

Great app with many bugsI have bought some things from this app and am mostly satisfied. Recently I bought an electronic being sold as “works as intended” I received the item with multiple issues and after contacting the seller through customer service we had a small conversation with maybe four messages. After that I couldn’t access the thread, the app would crash. It’s not just the app, I can’t access the thread on the website either..Version: 1.3

Doesn’t work when searchingThe symbol for search is a magnifying glass, but in the case it’s an image that does nothing, there a separate search bar below the image you have to click. Not user friendly. When you do get to search, it takes a long time to load and even though I tried using some well know and popular brand names it came back with nothing available. When I went back to the website and did the same searches, a lot of things came up. App needs a lot of work before it’s fully functional..Version: 1.0

Terrible appThis is a truly terrible app. Goodwills bandwidth is crap at night. Can take 15 seconds to load a page at night or run a search. If you can afford to pay your CEO millions. Why not try to provide the best app to people paying your salaries..Version: 2.0.1

Ok but needs some workI don’t understand the purpose of the Goodwill Mission banner at the bottom of every page after leaving the Home Screen. That needs to be removed to access the home/favorites/my goodwill etc. When searching why can’t I just click the magnifying glass instead of a search box. I do like that when using saved searches I can use the back arrow to get back to the last saved search item. The website always takes me back to page one of my saved searches..Version: 1.2

Really!!!Okay so Good Will gets a online store that’s great, but come on the prices are ridiculous. You can go to Ross or toms of other apps and stores and pay less for the same thing and it will be new. This store everything is donated and y’all turn around and charge the highest prices online for used clothes and furniture and jewelry basically everything I have ever seen online for used donated stuff. That’s just not right at all…...Version: 1.3

Overall a bad appGoodwill in general is not the best because they do price thing higher then a thrift store should. This app isn’t any different, having unique and fun items listed above what they are worth second hand, but the shipping is also terrible. For a company that makes an astonishing amount of money, you would think they would have a better price range for shipping. What makes this app worse then shopping in person is the constant bugs and issues. The app constantly is freezing or kicking you off. The notifications either don’t show up or show up hours late. The app constantly breaks down and says it needs an update when there are none available..Version: 1.4

FishyWell, you can get some good things for a low price there’s some valuable items that I feel the bidding is fishy. There will be items that people will start biding $100-$200 still good price giving the fact that it’s been donated. But then if you pay close attention to the bidding. You will have one person jump from $100- $200 to $1000 then that same person a couple of min l later will bid another$1000. There will be the occasion that some one will out bid the supposed bidder. But if the seller/bidder is not out bided and the times run out. You will see the item in a couple of days out for auction again. Another thing shipping and handling costs, if you buy for example, an item you won the bidding for $20 the handling cost can sometimes add up to 10 dollars depending on the value of the item plus the regular cost of shipping. Depending factors are location and size of item. You are looking at another $10-$20 in total for shipping and “handling.” Over all If money is not an issue and you dont care if the item was DONATED and sold like if the seller paid for it and the seller is also bidding to collect more money. Then bid on..Version: 1.5

SCAM OF THE CENTURYI downloaded this app a month ago. Sense then, I have purchased three items. The first item I purchased came not looking like the photos and incredibly dirty. The second item came and was a completely different shoe AND four sizes larger than the shoe i ordered. The third item came and was a completely different shirt than what I had ordered. These people are scammers. They are refusing to refund me or replace my items unless I go through the hassle of fixing their mistake and mailing all of these items back to them. I work full time and live a busy life, they should’ve gotten it right the first time. I didn’t purchase what they sent me and I didn’t receive what I purchased, so them withholding my money is illegal. Also, shipping for pretty much everything on this app is 10$ or more..Version: 2.3

Needs notificationsThe app is functional just like the webpage but the app needs the ability to send notifications like when you placed a bud, been outbid, when an item ends that you won, when an item ships. If it doesn’t receive that then there’s no difference between the app and webpage..Version: 1.2

Freezes upVery frustrated at this app. I was outbid toward the end of an auction and when I went to submit a higher bid, the app froze up until after the auction ended, causing me to lose out on an item I wanted. The categories in the search function also routinely get messed up. Plus they charge ridiculous shipping and handling fees, as many others have complained about..Version: 1.4

Pros & Cons 🤷🏽‍♀️I am appreciative that they created an app. It does make it easier to purchase items and makes me more likely to purchase more often. That being said, Goodwill definitely is a bunch of greedy people and this app just makes it easier for them to be greedy and make even MORE money off the items they get for free. It also keeps the local shoppers from being able to find good stuff because they take all the good/valuable items and list them for auction to get MORE money. I will admit, I do find good deals on the app from time to time because I know what to look for. However, alot of the items are either fake/inauthentic or MUCH more damaged than they show in the pictures/description. So it’s definitely a risk..Version: 1.2

Latest update won’t launchApp forced me to update it to continue using it. Now it won’t even launch. When it works, the app is easier to use than the web version of the site. Agree with the other reviews warning to pay attention to the added fees. Can’t be too upset about shipping costs, but the handling costs of some sellers can be steep and will catch you off guard if you are not paying attention. Most sellers are great. A few, not so much (looking at you, South Florida store)..Version: 1.3

Needs a few crucial fixedThis app, really, should be earning more than 2 stars. It does what anyone could ask that a mobile app do, except you cannot share links to lists unless you're interested in entering in your/friends' email address(es). Ridiculous. The mobile website is better for that alone. This cannot be difficult to fix. Please just create a button on the listing page that lets you copy a link to the listing. Another thing: scrolling is a hassle because the moment you go from scrolling downward to upward, a giant header drops down, gets in your way, and shifts your whole screen downward. It comes out incredibly quickly and goes away the moment you scroll downward again. It's as if the developers never once tried to use the app themselves. Fix these two issues and you've got a blameless app..Version: 1.5

Needs fine tuning.!The back button freezes. The search bar doesn’t work with the search circle you have to click search. In iPhones you drag the screen down with a swipe to refresh the screen. You can’t do that here so all those auctions are ending but still in the feed. And the banner blocking our acct buttons needs to go. We shouldn’t have to back track to the Home Screen to access favorites etc..Version: 1.2

Needs updatesSearch using blue magnifying glass isn’t functional. Why have it there if it’s non-usable? There should be an easily seen, open blank search box with ONE search button on the top of EVERY page. Make it super easy to start a new search! I can’t find/use the app’s shipping estimate calculator. The website is easier to use for determining shipping cost..Version: 1.2

Needs helpSearching and filtering work pretty well, although somehow my saved searches were originally saved with spaces URL-encoded. Might be a fixed bug by now. (It would be nice to search for “Argus” without getting lots of “Targus” results.) The lack of landscape mode for iPads is a serious demerit. Portrait mode is very awkward for larger iPads in particular. The worst, however, is that I can’t even bid on some items because the modal pop-up is not scrollable, so if the confirm bid button is below the available screen you can’t tap it. I have the largest iPad Pro and it’s still not enough vertical space to see the entire confirmation dialog..Version: 2.0.1

Freezes at the worst possible timesTrying to refresh the page to check how much time is left in an auction and boom freezes so I can’t put a bid in. With 2 minutes left it’s a scramble to get back to the item to bid. Doesn’t matter because it’s too late and the auction is over. Happens on their website all the time. I’ve missed out on at least 3 things because of this and no it’s not my internet connection. Personally I don’t think goodwill should be in the auction game anyway. They cherry pick the good stuff from the stores which just takes the fun out of it..Version: 1.2

Decent enough, has issuesNotifications are completely broken. Links to websites only work in Chrome all others give an error and that likely means they are using lots of tracking that my other browsers block. Once you enter your name you cannot change it. Filters in app search could be better. You cannot filter for clothing sizes, or set a range of pricing like Poshmark or Etsy. Be wary of shipping charges. The app gives you an estimate which is extremely helpful but they can double what you pay for an item..Version: 2.2

Items poorly photographedI purchased a pair of shoes and when they arrived the sole of the shoes were coming off. They were falling apart. I am not even sure why they were listed. This was things you couldn’t see. Also if you have a long address it cuts off your address. I’m constantly calling fedex regarding my deliveries from goodwill. When one of the items never showed they said take it up with fedex. Well FedEx wasn’t provided the right address so the delivery was made and they said take it up with goodwill.Version: 1.5

Goodwill just ain’t like it used to beUnfortunately the only platform has made gong to local stores pointless. All the items of value are auctioned off on this app. Each store has their own method and pricing for shipping which ends up being a very large portion of the cost associated with buying here. They need a consistent shipping program and to bring some value back to their stores by letting locals buy more than the junk..Version: 1.3

2/5This is one of the most buggy, slow, inconsistent, and laggy apps I’ve ever used. The user interface is bareable but not ideal, and could definitely use some work. The actual bidding and buying works fine, and if the performance issues were fixed it would be a much better app. The customer service is AWFUL, borderline scam. I bought an original Gameboy bundle, but one of the things included in the listing wasn’t in the package. I contacted the store and they said they didn’t have it, but offered to refund me half of the original price. I don’t think the refund ever went through, because every time I went to view the ticket the app would fully crash, and no money has ever been sent..Version: 2.2

New update renders app uselessSince the most recent update I can no longer sign in, which means I can’t bid on anything. So now this app is useless…… Just FYI if you are able to bid/purchase, beware that shipping will be VERY expensive. If you spend less than $10-15 you will likely pay more for shipping/handling than then item itself costs..Version: 2.2

Doesn’t show all resultsThe app needs work. When there are many results for a search, the app doesn’t properly scroll down to the next page. It’s very frustrating to use, so it’s basically just for monitoring auctions I have already “liked” on my desktop pc. It’s also annoying that it keeps signing me out. I wish the main screen wasn’t just the mess of the website homepage but instead a clean app menu. It’s a clunky app that could be good with some work..Version: 1.5

Money first, mission secondI love charity as much as the next guy, but this app shows just how greedy Goodwill is. Every item has a “handling fee” and all hard drives are removed from electronics so they can sell them separately. If you purchase an item, you cannot bid on another item until payment is rendered… even if the auction ended minutes earlier. They make their priorities clear here- money. And the FedEs shipping prices are insane…. WAY above retail!.Version: 2.3

Goodwill is a “No-expense all profit”Non-profitI grew up going to Goodwill since I was a kid. We couldn’t afford new clothes, so my mom would take us there and we would find good stuff along the way. People there enjoyed their jobs and it seemed something good was going on. Today Goodwill over charges for donated items; $10 for a stained tee, $50 for a pair of shoes, and now they have an auction where items go beyond their initial shelf value. You go into a Goodwill and there is no morale, no one looks happy, and they still ask for donations. Sorry I refuse to thing that Goodwill from the top down is genuinely leading with intention to make a difference in their employee lives. Take a page out of Trader Joe’s or Costcos book..Version: 2.3
