MehI like having the bank account on the side and I’ve been using it since it launched and it has been okay. But it doesn’t like to load half the time and the customer service won’t do anything to be able to help..Version: 2.1.2

Don’t get the card or app…So i file with h and r block and they offered me the spruce banking to get my taxes sooner as well as set it up through them…i decided to try it and already when i set up my account it has been making me sign right back out i can’t access the app with my information to activate the card. i called the help line in which the lady that answered could not help me . she said they’d contact me in 10 business days. when she then stopped talking to me and started talking to her coworker i assume in a foreign language. i’m most likely going to have to hire an attorney if the problem is not fixed soon..Version: 3.0.0

UselessThis is the first time I have ever taken the time to leave a review on an app where I actually write some thing instead of just doing the stars. The fact that I’m doing this is all I need to know that this banking app is ridiculous. They are no help when there’s a problem nobody knows what is going on apparently and if you asked to speak to a seat supervisor, they are conveniently clocked out already and I’ve called multiple times to talk to support him on the chat and none of my issues have ever been resolved. This is a joke of a financial institution. If that’s even what you want to call it..Version: 3.3.0

Bad First ImpressionHave been trying to sign up for online banking- it registers my email and then says my email “failed” and doesn’t let me proceed. Spruce cardI have always had the emerald card this year I decided to go with spruce due to they claim you get your taxes 5 days sooner. Well not true in fact my return was deposited per I.R.S. Website March 2, 2022 and I have yet to see it on my card and it’s now the night of March 10th still nothing and no one knows anything and I called 5 days later from when it’s said it was deposited and asked a person with the irs and they confirmed it was sent to them. But no one at spruce can find it. They keep transferring me back and forth with spruce and h n r block I feel like I am in a game of ping-pong and I’m the freaking ball. I don’t know why spruce can’t find my money. This place is a joke and I would never recommend it to anyone. I am very disappointed and I my only step next it to call the BBB. Cause as far as I am concerned they stole my tax return from me..Version: 2.1.2

Could not even create account.I tried creating a account but when I tried it had said they could not verify my identity. So when I try again it won’t let me go back to try to verify again or start over it just asks me to log in to my account but how can I if I don’t even have one? So I called asking for help and they said that there is a account under my name which is weird if I couldn’t even verify it and they basically said they can’t do anything for me not even delete the account I have or offer anymore help. Dispute issues, app timeouts, glitches, horrible customer service.So I got my taxes on this card, no clue why. Anyway I decided to book a cruise. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years, and have had 5 losses. We’re incredibly high risk. I called the cruise line ahead of time to ask if I would get my deposit back should I need to cancel. They said yes, I booked, called back again to make sure. Cut to now, we’re starting treatment and cannot go on a cruise in the event we do get pregnant. Thought it best to cancel. Cruise line screwed us. Tried to call spruce, can’t get ahold of anyone by phone because it can’t validate your phone number even if your account is tied to it, customer service chat is a JOKE. They’re rude and disrespectful, won’t let you ask questions or explain. And you can’t even get through their questions before the app times out and makes you sign in again, even if you are typing a response and actively being engaged. Then you have to start all over. I don’t even know how to begin to file this dispute. I may have to contact an attorney since there’s no way ti get ahold of SPRUCE. RUN FAR AWAY.Version: 3.5.0

HorribleIf I could give this company no stars I would. They do things to your account without your authorization. They hold your money from you and won’t deposit it to your account. Take your money somewhere else if you don’t want to lose your hard earned money..Version: 3.3.0

New bug fix created new bugs and still more bugs 🐜I didn’t have ANY problems until newest update. NOW EVERY time I time I try to sign into the Spruce app it freezes up and I have to go to the App Store to just to get it to open. But then it goes right through. What’s up with that guys? Kinda annoying.🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m STILL having trouble with the SAME issue…and here it is 3 weeks later after my initial review. I am updating my review as of April 25, 2023 now!!! PlaidSo I tried to use the plaid option to link banks with the first Walmart option I know all my login credentials but it’s not logging in like it’s supposed to do I went back and tried on a different app that uses plaid and everything went through perfectly.Version: 2.5.0

As an H&R Block Employee I will not continue using this app or platformThey advertise early payday. So I tried it out so I could review it before encouraging my clients to try it. That’s a hard nope from me. They told me it would take 35 days to have access to early payday after my first direct deposit hits…hopefully sometime tomorrow. Nope. At least my brick and mortar bank has real early direct deposit. Then I have had duplicate transactions post and it takes 3-5 business days to transfer money from my bank account to my spruce savings. After this I am back to my brick and mortar bank..Version: 3.0.0

Big Joke Don’t Do It!!!This app would not allow me to link my bank account for 2 weeks. So I went to close the account. Guess what, unlike other apps, you just can’t delete or close your account. You have to call their customer service line. Not even then will they close your account. They say you have to wait 5 business days for them to reach a decision on wether or not they will close your account. I spoke with a supervisor named Bella, and she said it wasn’t her problem I chose this app and hung up on me. Because of them, I will NEVER use H&R Block or any of their services..Version: 2.5.1

I think they’re a fraud card serviceI’ve used the emerald card with H&R Block and never had a problem. As soon as I started using my spruce card last year 2000$ was Not deposited from my refund that should have been. Still has not been disputed after a year. Multiple times of them holding money when receiving a refund for a over charge or even fraud charges. You call to get help, it’s always usually the same person and they’re constantly asking for your full ss# for verification, amongst other things but never get to the point of truly helping. HorribleThe fact that I have to call three different times today and the first lady tells me that I can use my virtual card and that I have access to it was a lie. I called back the second time, and the lady says to call the phone number on the back of my card which is exactly what I’ve done and she’s telling me she can’t help me and repeatedly just says to call back. So I hang up and I call the same exact number that I’ve always called and the third person tells me that she’s escalated the situation so I can use my card in 24 hours. It’s honestly insane. so I won’t have access for it till tomorrow, which is unacceptable and my problem in my eyes was not resolved because I should have immediate access to my virtual card like I’ve always had with every other company..Version: 3.3.0

Would Rate Worse If PossibleMade one transaction and then account froze for unusual activity, can’t access funds in middle of nowhere with my child out of fuel, call support thinking I would just verify a transaction and be on my way, but no my account has to be reviewed by an investigator, and they have 3-5 business days to reply, meanwhile my vehicle is sitting on side of road after myself and my child were driven home by a stranger because this account and HR block i even recorded the attendant telling me HR Block would be responsible for my and my child and my vehicle . This company is terribleUpdate: HRBlock called me finally and kinda fixed the situation but not entirely. I was at least able to get access to the money to pull it all off. They had to activate the card themselves and set the pin number so they had my pin and all my info. Not safe, not secure and no one can really help you. You have to wait 5 days for someone to reach out to you but I told them I’d contact my attorney for holding funds hostage and they called right away. This card and service is downright awful. Don’t do it I never asked HRBlock to give me this card, I never wanted it, I provided them my actual routing and account number. Somehow I ended up with this Speuce account with no card and my taxes are just sitting. No one can help me or give me information. I keep being told they have to send emails and I have to wait 5 business days or longer for any assistance. They tell me they can see the account and all my info matches but I have no access to my money. I would run from these people. If you haven’t gotten a card from them, they want the card info before sending you another card! HOW WHEN I NEVER GOT IT!!! Never even asked for this and here I am with no insight on when I’ll be able to access the money. They’ll close the account but it’ll take longer than 5 business days to process the closure and send a check. They’re ridiculous and customer service is awful..Version: 2.14.1

BAD APPThis apps needs alot of improvement. Imagine you can only use the virtual card for a limited time, even when the physical debit card has not been delivered. I have my funds locked in there i can access it. You people really need to work on these or else your company might have to pack off when no one uses the app anymore.Version: 2.1.2

Spruce failed me!The app has no live person who knows what’s going on. The phone number is an automated service with no operator option. I deposited a check the took weeks to wait on a date for it to clear and they still haven’t cleared my check. No one I spoke with over the chat with a representative, knew to tell me where the my money went. My mind is made up that Spruce kept my money. It’s the worse service I’d ever gotten from a bank. I tested this bank first with a small check to see if the service is good enough to have my full direct deposit in Spruce. They failed at good service and I’d never put any other money in that bank..Version: 3.2.0

Horrible.I currently was trying to set up an account and was sent to the log in every time I put in my number even though when I put in my number it says “continue creating account” I have to put in my number once again but ends up sending me right back to log in and I end up stuck in this never ending loop. Scam!! BEWARE!!!This is a banking platform supposedly created by HR Block, it is really Netspend. Netspend is so crooked they hide behind well reputable names such as HR Block and PayPal and others. This tax season it was my only option I had to choose from to receive my tax refund through HR Block online free file. Spruce targets low income people to provide”help” with their financial spending habits. I believe the true reason is to illegally take money from people who can not afford to do anything about it. I have had at least $2645 just go missing and I’ve tried making disputes and asking about my money to be hung up on and have transactions that have cleared be duplicated and kept pending for over a month to account for some of the missing funds. They answer the phone HR Block and HR Block in office tax preparers aren’t even offering this Spruce to their customers yet..Version: 2.1.2

DISTURBING !!!So I’m a big fan of online fintech style banks and their mobile apps and wanted to try this account out and use it as a side bank…. BIG MISTAKE !!! I downloaded the app and applied for account. Afterwards, their mobile app makes you put in your phone number and/or email address EVERY TIME you sign in to the app !!! This means their mobile app does NOT sync with your phone or know who you are !!! This is a HUGE security risk and the first red flag !! Once you’re in the mobile app, if you try clicking on “security notifications” to choose how you’d like your security set up, it doesn’t do anything ? It does nothing !! It’s like it’s disabled ?? 2nd red flag !! It gets worse from there….. I called their toll free number to close down my account since there’s NO WAY I’m going to trust this company or banking app with my info, let alone my money, and SURPRISE !! I get a call center in a foreign country….. Philippines !! Umm…. how about NO !! And the lady I spoke with, didn’t even have the ability to close down my account ?!?! Seriously ?? Is this a joke ?? She told me she would have to submit a request to their “back office” to close my account and that basically I MIGHT get an email confirming closure, whenever they get around to it ?? DO NOT TRUST YOUR INFO, MONEY, OR PAYCHECK TO THIS COMPANY !!! You’ve been warned !!.Version: 2.0.1

Do. Not. Use. This. “Bank”.These accounts are nearly impossible to transfer funds out of, they only make it easy to move money into the accounts. Customer service has no idea what they’re talking about, and if you want to ACH your funds out of your account you must fill out a form and wait at least 10 business days. You cannot use Zelle or Venmo to move money out of these accounts either. I don’t know how this banking app is even legal..Version: 3.4.0

Doesn’t get to you in a timely manner if they ever get back to youIf I could give zero stars I would. I didn’t even want this bank account but because I can’t say no when the nice gentleman at h & r block asked me if I’d like to sign up I said sure. I have multiple bank accounts I really didn’t need it. He didn’t tell me that is where my tax return would be going. When I tried to make my account it glitched and there wasn’t a password created. I’ve called several times and they have “escalated” my case (which when this happens it takes 3-5 days for them to reach out you) I worked multiple days with a nice lady trying to get into my account. they said they finally got the issue resolved and I should be able to log in and they were giving me $50 for my troubles (would be a nice gesture if I could access it). The issue was not resolved. I still can’t get it and I’ve had to call every day for my case to be escalated once more. I would just like access to my money and then to delete my spruce account and never deal with them again. I have been dealing with this issue for a month now..Version: 3.1.0

Don’t Trust!I have had spruce bank for 30 days and have regretted 29 days of it. I had fraudulent transactions on my card. They made it seem easy and they were working on my case. Super bad serviceI created this account when I was completing my Tax return using H&R Block. They claimed that takes 5 days to get your tax refund. That happened in about 6 days, but that’s not the problem, I linked an external account so I can send my $$ into my external account (where I do all my financial transactions) the feature didn’t allow me to send out, I called customer service and they told me I can’t do that, only option to PayPal or Cash but only $1,000 per day, and the last option, someone will call me to sep up a transfer to my external account, that will take 3-5 days to 1st to receive the phone call and another 3-5 days to transfer to my external bank. I could have just use my bank at the end of the tax filling process in H&R block, wait a few extra days and get all my money in my bank account (no issues). With Spruce I got was issues, headaches, longer time, terrible service. Next year I will switch to Turbo Tax. Bye H&R Block.Version: 3.4.0
