Great Game! But rules aren’t always clearIm really enjoying playing this, surprisingly deep puzzle game. It’s almost perfect in its simplicity. However sometimes the tile descriptions are unclear, and there isn’t much in the way of feedback for when and how each tile is being scored. For instance the fir grove description implies it needs to be as far as possible from residences, but then I get zero from each fir grove regardless of their placement. And the game gives no feedback for why. I’m not sure if it needs real-time score feedback for each tile placed like the game Islanders (the closest game in style I can think of) or if it just needs some more breakdowns at the end of each level. Mostly though, it could just do with some more visual feedback for scoring and tile interactions so the player isn’t having to check the written descriptions so much. All that said, thanks for the great game!.Version: 1.0.7

Very relaxing puzzle gameI rarely write reviews but this game is exactly what I needed! It’s fun and calming for my anxiety but still makes me think enough so I don’t get bored. I appreciate that it’s a one time purchase instead of a subscription or in app purchase. Keep up the great work, if a sequel ever comes out I’d definitely buy it :).Version: 1.0.2

Cathartic and challengingA wonderful game, I’ve spent many hours on it. It combines being relaxing with being challenging too. Ignore the 1 star reviews, clearly written by people who find anything more than Candy Crush too difficult to understand..Version: 1.0.8

Fantastic Game!!! Must play!!I’d like to think I’m a fairly fussy iOS game player, always looking for new/different games to discover that reel me in!… this has got me hook, line and sinker! It is so simple, yet you can strategise over your move options for minutes, double checking all the requirements of each item to ensure the best decision has been made! Love strategising where to place roads, water, walls, fences, etc. in advance when placing things on the board (square valley). I actually came back to this on the App Store to see what other apps they’ve produced, but sadly no more (yet). Hopefully more awesome game ideas to come! Perfect game if you need a break from the player vs. player pace/speed of games and just want to chill out. It’s like therapeutic for my brain while training to and from work… makes travel time go really quick!… Cheers and keep making games!!! (Also, I’ve never actually gone and written a game review before now!) #firsttimer!.Version: 1.0.8

Relaxing and enjoyable!Although this wasn’t the game I thought it was going to be I’m really enjoying it so far, from the lovely art direction, the different challenges each level provides and beautifully soothing soundtrack makes it a game I keep going back to when I have time to kill! *Note* I was going to mention how sometimes the game makes it a bit tedious with the somewhat random tile generation for where you can place and how some of the requirements are a bit confusing to understand (I’m looking at you The Jewelry Shop) but it looks like the devs have already started rolling out updates to fix these issues so kudos to them and thank you!.Version: 1.0.3

Fun gameThis takes skill and a little luck. Just beat all 3 stages. Willing to buy an expansion pack w/ larger or more complex maps..Version: 1.0.8

Satisfying, pretty, and relaxing!Absolutely love the puzzles in this game. They are engaging, with every single one adding some new twist, and the perfect length of time for a relaxing break, running around 10 minutes. Not to mention the charming artwork and music!.Version: 1.0.8

Amazing game! There seems to be a bug in the tutorial thoughI love this game and enjoy the same things as what other reviews have already expressed. I think there is a bug in the tutorial however. If you select a house tile and try to place it inside of the fenced in area, it changes the tile to rocks, even though only sheep and house are available to select. It was VERY confusing to experience that in the tutorial on my first play. After completing the level, I replayed it and the same effect is still there. I think it’s a bug!.Version: 1.0.5

Great game, worth itThis is a great game, I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks now and am only half way through. Replay value is okay Gets the mind thinking in a relaxing way.Version: 1.0.4

Really fun, but felt a bit shortReally unique game, felt like a mix between sudoku and city-building games. It was satisfying to succeed and I never felt too frustrated even when I would lose a close one. One of my issues is that in some of the later challenges the placement of the unique pieces on the map would vary wildly and that would lead to either easy games or near impossible ones. I found myself just quitting and restarting on turn 1 until I got placements that felt doable. Also, it feels kinda short. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting it to end and seeing the new unique pieces for each challenge was a big part of the motivation, but it’s still only 30 or so levels and that does seem a bit low.Version: 1.0.7

Beautiful indie board gameLoved playing through this game. If you like euro board games with solitaire modes, this beautifully replicates the feel. Great example of a game that doesn't need to be flashy to be good. Every map has a unique challenge to keep things fresh..Version: 1.0.8

A charming challengeThis is a lovely relaxing game which hides a layer of strategic challenge I wasn’t expecting. The levels slowly introduce new concepts which keeps the game interesting over time. I would highly recommend Square Valley.Version: 1.0.8

Fun, beautiful tile placement strategy gameThis is a beautiful and relaxing game with just the right level of challenge. I’m increasing my review from 4 stars to 5 because of great customer service. The developer responded to a question very quickly and fixed some initial scoring glitches promptly. Well worth its purchase price. I’m so glad it doesn’t have ads..Version: 1.0.2

MORE.Absolutely adore this game. I love figuring out my strategies for each set of tiles and tiles, and can’t help but go back to try to improve my score in ever single level. Every single tile has little ways you can squeeze every last point out of it, and when you manage to get a high score with an aesthetically pleasing map, the feeling is wonderful. As frustrating as it was adjusting to plateaus and islands, it was even more satisfying when I finally got it down. Only possible complaints aside from wanting more levels are that the randomness of the tile options and spaces can sometimes just give you the finger. Part of it is not drawing out the levels for too long, sure. The more tiles you have placed the more likely you’ll be blocked. But sometimes the game just gives you a dozen occupied spaces, a singular open space, and a pair of tiles that will only penalize your points. But it’s part of the game, and I just kind of learned to roll with it. Sometimes your attempt just doesn’t play out. But seriously. More levels. They don’t even need to be new content. Just mix and match and cookie-cutter with the old tile sets you already have, and give me more levels to get high scores in. So many of the cool concepts are only used once, and both sandbox and the daily challenge feel so unsatisfying in comparison to seeing your high score recorded permanently..Version: 1.0.8

So now they added anti-frustration mechanicsSo they earned a perfect score from me, if you read this you should play the game.Version: 1.0.4

Not what I hoped forThis is a two-star game for me. The game works well, and it looks good. So I’m rating it four stars out of respect for the developer. I will probably delete this game because: 1. Tile scoring is too complicated. A tile might be worth 5 points if it’s 3 or more spaces from a wall. Otherwise it’s worth 1 point unless it’s adjacent to a river. That sort of thing. For me it became work, not fun, to find the best place to put a tile. Many people like such complexity. Many don’t. I’m mentioning it so people know what to expect. 2. I couldn’t tell what my score was during a game. So I had no way of knowing how I was doing until the game ended. The game really should display a player’s turn-by-turn score..Version: 1.0.8

A great first effort: fun, deep, challenging, addictive! It's rare for a developer's first release to truly impress me. This game cleared that lofty bar! I'm not even through Chapter 1 and I already enjoy the heck out of playing... surely that's a good sign!.Version: 1.0.2

Great Puzzle GameVery solid, relaxing but challenging puzzle game with solid art and music. The developer stated Carcassonne was an inspiration but I think the logic/gameplay is more similar to a deck builder with roguelike elements where the “deck” is the 9x9 board. Goal is to look for synergies and handle randomness best way you can. I agree with the other review(s) that stated tiles need more definition. I too had no idea Cherry Orchard would be a -20 enclosed. Even the glossary, which uses pictures to define things, could be a bit more detailed with some of the games’ other terms like “connected,” etc. This would not stop me from giving such a good game like this 5 stars..Version: 1.0.1

More games like this pls.Such a refreshing game to find. No timers. No ads. No lottery draws. Just strategic maps that each feel fresh and challenging. Well worth buying..Version: 1.0.5

GoodGood game, just there’s very little knowledge of where you are going to be allowed to place the next tile, and it seems random.Version: 1.0.8

Beautiful GameI am having a relaxing imaginative time playing this. I can already tell this is going to be one that stays on my phone. It’s such a challenge placing all the edges and other units! I think this would be an excellent board game. You get five stars for this gem and because there’s no ads. Ads would have made me play 75% less. Thank you for not collecting my data too. You’re a role model for all games!.Version: 1.0.2

Enjoying this puzzlerAtmospheric, calming and yet a deceptively challenging puzzler. Would get 5 stars but some tiles need more info, for instance the cherry orchard just says: “for each edge touch+4” - touching what? And after playing the round you find out you lose 20 if the cherry blossom is enclosed. Don’t get me wrong, this is a solid game, it just needs some tweaking to be great..Version: 1.0.1

I Love This GameThis game is an excellent mix of skill and chance. There is a bit of a learning curve and sometimes the tile descriptions can be a bit confusing, but overall it is extremely addicting and challenging..Version: 1.0.5

Superb balanceThis is an excellent puzzle game. It strikes the perfect balance between challenge and simplicity. Every level is different and some of the random features mean you never know what sort of challenge you’ll face each round. The tile characteristics are sometimes a little difficult to interpret, but after a few tries and seeing the final scoring it makes more sense. Otherwise it’s quite brilliant. The experience of playing is actually quite relaxing when listening to the pleasant music too. Thoroughly enjoying it and worth the small cost of the app. Five star game..Version: 1.0.8

New scoring from 2 to 4I originally said that the game was very good up to a point, I could not get past the Sanctuary level, I even deleted the game. However I started it again but played the sandbox mode games to get more familiar with the rules. I’ve now got past the Sanctuary level after many attempts (The designers have made it possible) so I’m really enjoying playing it again. The only down side is that it’s very addictive and I’m spending too long on it. I do wish the game area was larger and could be played landscape mode on iPad..Version: 1.0.9

Addicting strategy puzzle game!I haven’t been able to put it down, I love the puzzles you have to solve. The artwork is so soothing too, a nice bit of nature in app form. The complexity of how everything interacts with everything else is impressive. I would highly recommend!.Version: 1.0.2

Excellent relaxing puzzlerThis game is both relaxing and exciting at the same time. I will start it up for a chill moment to listen to the music and ambiance, and then get pulled in right away with the struggle of the puzzle. The latest update with the undo and skip buttons takes this game from a 4star to a 5 star . There were plenty of times i accidentally put down a building and wished for an undo. And the skip *chefs kiss* what an awesome addition to the whole puzzle. You’ll be constantly wondering which turn would be the best use. The challenges will keep you coming back to see what new buildings and scoring scenarios are in store. If you love puzzle games, I highly recommend this one. Thanks devs for making such a great little game!.Version: 1.0.4

Fantastic, a steal at the priceTo my surprise, I got many hours of interesting and enjoyable gameplay out of Square Valley. Dev was responsive and fixed a couple of issues along the way. Goal descriptions are occasionally fuzzy or not clear and could use some standardization, but that doesn’t stop this from being a great experience. Would love more options to play past the main campaign and I can’t wait for more!.Version: 1.0.5

Very chill yet addictingI love this so far, challenging yet relaxing and I’m not feeling the game is unfair, more that I am at fault. One thing though , can you add a music volume slider ? At the moment it’s either on or off , if I adjust the device volume I loose all the sound effects too..Version: 1.0.4

Beautiful, gentle and cerebralIt’s a deceptively simple premise. Each tile has different rules governing where it can be placed and how it scores points. You are given a small selection from a random deck and must find the best place to play a tile. But the interlocking and competing requirements of all the different tiles quickly ramp up the challenge and the available spots shrink the further the game progresses. Add every few turns you have to consider how best to place a road or a river or a wall or a fence. Each will have a different set of implications for the tiles on the board and those you have yet to place. The art is simple but pleasing, the UI is very intuitive and any thought that the gameplay might get repetitive is quickly dispelled by the huge set of levels that gradually unlock more and more buildings, rules and challenges. All this and no in-app purchases or irritating adverts? This - this! - is how mobile games should be..Version: 1.0.8

I beat all the levels.Phew what a game..Version: 1.0.5

Best iPhone game in a long whileCompletely loving this. There are far too few good games that play in portrait mode on the phone and this one is a cracker. Like a progressively more sophisticated Carcassonne playable in snack-sized sessions. Give it a try!.Version: 1.0.5

Interesting puzzle game!Fun to play and pass the time.. definitely will be playing during downtime!.Version: 1.0.2

Love the game, needs better tool tipsVery reminiscent of Islanders or any game like that. Also similar to some Roll and Write board games. My biggest issue is what in tarnation is an “area”? Game uses the term constantly and never explains it at all. There’s even an article written about the game complaining about the same thing when I tried to look it up. Please help, dev..Version: 1.0.8

What a fun tile placement puzzler!I love how every puzzle give the player a randomly generated map with a target score and it's own set of tiles. So every time you replay that same puzzle, the order the tiles show up and exactly where on the map you can place them will be different, the special parameters of that unique puzzle will feel somewhat familiar. I also like while it's easy to see it as something akin to Solo Carcassonne, that isn't quite accurate. Unlike Carcassonne there really is no equivalent to completing a road or a castle wall, it's more that every different tile in this game has its own scoring rules (like, "...it needs to connect to a road but no other tile of its same type can be in the same column...") and you're tasked with trying to place every tile so they all score as much as possible..Version: 1.0.6

Great stress relieverWhen you want to just ‘switch off’ and relax, Square Valley does the job. What a great game. Good visuals, gentle background music and no annoying ads popping up after each round. Simply brilliant and well worth the price..Version: 1.0.8

Entertaining and challenging gameThis is a lovely little game that provides just the right amount of challenge at every new level. Feels like a board game you can play by yourself. Nice music too..Version: 1.0.8
