“Scuba not available” message.Resolved-see below: I have an active monthly subscription that I bought yesterday. I am getting the error “Scuba not available” message in Dive Settings. The Scuba option is dim in Dive Mode. I have synced phone and watch apps. Both apple watch ultra and iPhone XS iOS 16.4 apps show that I have a monthly subscription. As it is the app is useless for scuba. How do I fix this so I can use the scuba features? Fix: the app ran as snorkeling the day before and that messed up things so it locked out scuba even when you buy a subscription. They may think that is a feature but it is a flaw. I deleted the app from my phone and watch and reinstalled. Then it worked. Annoying. They need to fix this. Thus 4 stars..Version: 1.0.8

Not a diverThought I’d install to check this out, but even the registration screen isn’t for casual users. As a long distance runner who doesn’t dive, I’m glad the cost for this wasn’t included in the price of the Ultra watch..Version: 1.0.5

Great app with a space for improvementReally like this app, but could developers add 1.6 conservatism? 1.4 is only for very amateur and unfit divers, I am a deep diver and at almost 40m depth it really limits my bottom time… 1.6 would be amazing 🙏.Version: 1.1.4

Work in ProgressInitially I tried to use the 1 day trial version. That was a waste of time as, for some reason, it didn’t verify as a purchase and so my dive was logged as snorkelling. As Apple refunded that purchase, I later decided to bite the bullet and go for the full yearly subscription. This purchase worked and activated. I’ve now completed 4 dives, using the full subscription. The screen is nice, although takes a bit of getting used to where all the data is, after a Suunto Zoop. The alerts are nice. The safety stop timer alert, although reassuring, the constant vibration throughout the stop could be less frequent as it feels like a danger alert. The dive data is nice and clear, although unlike the Suunto app for example, there doesn’t see to be a way to add photos or further location data to the subject screen. This would be a good addition. The things I really don’t like are, repeatedly returning the units to imperial, during a dive this is not helpful. Also the “Fit to dive” is a wholly unnecessary step, please developers, if you see this, get rid. As others have said, a one off payment of £80 should have been sufficient on top of the £800 for the watch, (Apple should have subsidised it really) but I’m hoping that it means that the app will be constantly supported and upgraded for the rolling fee. All in all, a nice app but definitely needs tweaking..Version: 1.0.8

Already good, but room to improveI think the app is well designed on Watch: easy to use and easy to follow. The initial snorkeling setting is annoying but luckily I was aware of that before I went into water. The Phone interface is less optimal. First thing annoys me is the time, which I hope it to be displayed in the time zone where I dived; the second thing is that I hope that I can have the ability to edit dive spot coordinates because the GPS sometimes went super off; finally I would like to have more ability to customize my dashboard. Overall I’m happy to dive with this app and Apple Watch Ultra. Looking forward to upgrades in the future!.Version: 1.0.5

Expected greatness, got an ok MVP appThis is very much an MVP release with no updates since launch a month or 2 ago. Myself along with every other apple fan was excited to see Apple partner with oceanic to build an app made for the new Ultra watch. Ok quality UI. Accuracy of dive data captured by Watch. Poor user experience. 1. Cannot merge logbook dives in the event one surfaced and then continued. Rare yes but a need. 2. No where do they offer a link for support. 3. Buggy in that editing a dive name didn’t always save it. 4. Dive planning doesn’t work at all. Can’t open that page. 5. Home Screen is boring and wasteful 6. Expected a lot more from the app because they partnered so closely with Apple and touted this on stage at WWDC. 7. Have no idea what will happen to my data or the experience once I stop paying monthly. I go diving 1-2 times a year. It’s an expensive hobby and I don’t live anywhere warm. What’s going to happen to my data once I cancel? No clue as the app doesn’t say anything nor your website..Version: 1.0.8

Lots to Like, One Major AnnoyanceI really enjoy this app and it’s integration with the app. Love how it logs data. The major annoyance was this: that I subscribed to their day rate on day 1 of diving. It worked great and I was able to continue diving with it on the morning of day 2. However, during my second dive, it seems my subscription had ended without notification. I was already in the water and kitted up, so was unable to get back out to resubscribe on my iPhone. Definitely ruined a dive..Version: 1.1.4

Wishing for moreThis app is only for iPhone and should also be compatible with the iPad screen and layout, but is not. The app works just fine on either device, other than that. The app didn’t record my location for the last dive. This was strange as I had activated the app before entering the water (3 minutes) and at the bottom of the descent, noticed the confirmation screen for fitness for the dive. Confirmed my fitness with the action button and moved on. I have a lot of hopes for this dive computer/watch. Of course I want Air Integration and believe that the hardware likely is already inside the watch (microphones responsive to the 35-38Khz frequencies of standard transmitters). Hope that Apple updates the software soon for this! This will allow me to reduce the load of equipment that I take with me on every trip, albeit small, every bit counts. Bottom line, the app should support iPad displays (native) as this is a much better viewing experience than having the iPhone aspect/screen size on a large iPad screen. Also, there SHOULD be the ability to export/import logs! I could not find these functions..Version: 1.0.6

Game changer! The Oceanic+ App is a game changer! Finally I don’t need to buy another dive computer, I can just use the device I’m already wearing all day. The UI is clean and modern, it’s also very intuitive and easy to use, unlike many other dive computers. The display is bright and very easy to read! I think the pricing is spot on, most good dive computers are north of $800 usd. I got the annual pricing plan, and don’t mind paying the under $7 usd a month for it. Let’s be honest most of us spend much more than that on a coffee in a week. There is no other dive computer on the market that has the bells and whistles of the Apple Watch. The Garmin MK2i doesn’t even come to close providing the functions and UI of this app with the Ultra. On top of that, I like that the software is easy to update and I know that I’ll get all future updates for the computer. I see others complaining about the lack of air integration. I’m sure that Oceanic are working on this, and I have no issues using a manual gauge. To me this is not a big deal, even with air integration on the MK2i, I use a manual gauge, just in case the transmitter fails. The log book is amazing! I love how it shows my entry and exit points! The app makes logging your dive so easy! I think this app is a winner! I can’t wait to see how it evolves over the upcoming years!.Version: 1.0.5

Disappointing : Edited (It’s not actually)Edit: Oceanic posted a response to my review and it completely changed my mind. I thought the “snorkeling” mode wouldn’t track dive related things but it does. That being the case the app is really good, I’m excited to add it to my list of dive equipment. My only change to the app would be to add some clarification for the snorkeling mode in app, stating it can be used for diving too. Other than that it seems to be a great app! I have left my original review below for the sake of cohesion between their response and my review. But my original review has pretty much been washed clean of any concerns. Great job guys! Let me preface this by saying the app is great. It has all the functionality you need from a dive computer, without the air integration. If you’re willing to pay the monthly or annual fee it’s a fantastic app. But the fee is the issue. If you want to scuba dive with it you don’t have any option but to purchase a membership. You can only snorkel on the free version. It’s disappointing to see that there’s not an option for diving for free, even if it was a basic interface. Looks like I won’t be replacing my EON Core any time soon..Version: 1.0.3

User-friendly and IntuitiveAs an older diver with decades of experience, I found the app on my Apple Watch Ultra very easy to use. It’s laid out to be very functional and intuitive, the same as my previous Oceanic Dive computers. All the information needed for a recreational dive is extremely easy to read and the information provides for a comfortable dive experience. The app was easy to set-up and use. The screen on my Ultra was bright and very visible. Paying $80 a year is very reasonable considering a new dive computer starts at $500 and I can only use it for diving. I’m looking forward to the Oceanic+ Smart Housing for my iPhone.Version: 1.0.3

Ignore the hateSo many snowflakes crying about in app purchases, so what, you should have done your research before leaping into buying this watch like a mindless buffoon. There are options to pay annually, monthly or daily for 89p! Just pay the for the days you use it? Simples. The app is great and brings a whole new live to dive computer.Version: 1.0.6

Just completed 9 dives with it Worked flawlessly.Great logging, easy to use, everyone hung out with me for the 3 minute stop as the watch face is so easy to see and with the vibrations I don’t even need to look at it..Version: 1.0.8

Great Diving AppUsed it for the first time during a dive in Aruba. Worked very well, both during and after the dive. During the dive all the info was clear and easy to access and read under water. Afterwards the watch connected to the app and recorded everything to the Log Book feature. Hoping to see air measurement in the future, but for now it does what it promises very well..Version: 1.0.6

Great technical app, needs UI improvement.Great App from a dive tracking perspective. I dive and snorkel, I should be able to select dive or snorkel from app startup, rather than having to go into settings to switch between them..Version: 1.0.6

Feature request—snorkel-scuba toggleI’ve only tried it in the pool so far, going diving next week. I can already see that I’d like a convenient way to quickly toggle between snorkel and scuba upon app start or submersion auto-start. When I’m at the ocean I do both every day. It’s awesome that this app has both modes, but wish it was faster/easier to switch between them. Would like the option to select when I submerge. UPDATE: how about make both options show at submerge, use the crown to scroll up/down between the two, action button to select. Could also make this a third options in settings: snorkel, scuba, or select on submerge..Version: 1.0.5

The world is MetricTo those critics of the subscription model, all I can say is don’t be so naive! It was always going to be subscription based, the developer made this clear on their website from the outset along with pricing models - next time do your research before buying the watch and app! To the developer, no metric feature? I appreciate you are US based but 99% of countries are metric - and so are we all expected to learn to convert centigrade, kilos and meters to use your app rather than you spending the extra 5 minutes building in the option within the app?.Version: 1.0.5

Smart accessory/cost effectiveGreat accessory to have on the Apple Ultra. Recreation divers can save in the long run. Dive computers are expensive and can be bulky. Loved the simplicity. Highly recommended piece of kit..Version: 1.1.0

Loved itI don’t see why this app has so much hate. Yes the monthly subscription is annoying but nothing stopping you paying for the month you need it and then just stopping it. Used this while diving in Sharm El Sheikh, as a recreational diver of about 50 dives, I loved the app with my Apple Watch and it worked great! The data was great for filling out my SSI logbook and it saves me upgrading a bespoke dive computer which would only get used once every year or so! Super happy!.Version: 1.0.6

Good App and Apple Watch Dive ExperienceI really like the Apple Watch Ultra and it’s worth the subscription cost to me. Especially considering all the other functionality the AWU has compared to competing dive watches. It’s a heck of a lot more pleasant experience than my Mk2i was. I do wish the app had more features. For example force safety stops. I dove in a Texas lake today and even though I hit 32 feet as my max depth the watch never triggered a safety stop. Other things such as end dive delay, customizing the data displayed on the screens would be nice additions. Lastly, living in Texas I do a lot of pool training dives, it would be nice to have a training mode. I still like to keep track of my training time..Version: 1.0.8

Good backup dive computer…and that’s about it for nowAfter a week on a live aboard diving the Revillagigedo Islands in Mexico, the AppleWatch Ultra with the Oceanic+ app is a solid backup/secondary dive computer. It kept up stat for stat with my primary dive computer. The haptic feedback and brightness of the display are even better than my primary computer. It easily made three ~60 min dives on a single charge. Knowing it is for recreational use only (not tech diving), the only complaints I have are syncing issues between the Watch and my phone, and the price Oceanic charges to use an app. While I spent a lot of money on my primary dive computer, I trust it with my life (literally) and my investment in the computer ensures they will provide the updates and support to keep me diving safely for years. The current Oceanic subscription model and price points will never instill the trust I would look for to make this my only/primary dive computer. The watch and app are solid, but Oceanic’s approach makes me feel like they are marketing this as a game..Version: 1.1.3

Great AppDived it a bit now. It’s an amazing app that’s easy to use and quick to do everything I want (change between gases quickly etc). All our diving is in 30m of water where I live and I have noticed that the app can be a bit conservative on the second dive. My mates will have full bottom time and I seem to have a few minutes less. Not sure if you can change it. I used to have the same issue with the Suunto watch’s and used to just use tables and swap between dive watches. Other than that I will never dive without it..Version: 1.0.6

Laggy and login screen doesn’t workI tried using apple sign in but whenever I tried It took me back to the splash screen. Then I tried with a email and password it let me in but when I tried syncing it to my Apple Watch it wouldn’t work. When I restarted the app it also logged me out and I can’t get back into the app. Understandable this is the first day of realising the app so I was expecting some bugs. From a first glance the app has a user friendly UI and looks pleasing. Can’t wait for these bugs to be fixed so I can try it out..Version: 1.0

First Dive ComputerAs a diver currently progressing through certifications for master diver, this computer has most of what I need. There are a few things I don’t necessarily like about the computer, but functionally in the water, the computer is amazing and easy to use when the watch doesn’t sense it is on my wrist. As far as what is missing, I would prefer to set up multiple dives on the phone and have it sync to the watches computer so everything is set for the day before leaving the pier; however, most dive computers must be set on the computer itself anyway. I would also like to see a recommended surface interval time. As a new diver, I must still use tables and calculations for this, when this is a feature built in to most other computers. As far as functions I believe the computer has that I don’t necessarily require, are the added total depths and the total distance. Both of these features I don’t find helpful or useful with regards to diving, but in the world of diving I’m still relatively new with under 50 dives, and I’ve only been certified since 2019. All that being said, this application and the fact that the watch can handle recreational depths, was the reason I upgraded my Apple Watch in the first place this past year. Even if you have a dive computer already, this is a great watch to own and use with any outdoor activity..Version: 1.1.0

Stuck in snorkeling modeUpdate: Got it to work by waiting 24 hours before reattempting. Do NOT attempt to dive in snorkel mode. I paid for the app, synced the watch and it immediately launched into snorkeling mode instead of dive mode. If you dive in snorkel mode, you get locked out for 24 hours, so there’s no opportunity to even try to fix it if you’re on a consecutive-day dive. So now I’m stuck diving in snorkeling mode and using my buddy’s five computer. I bought the Apple Watch Ultra just to use this app so you can imagine my disappointment..Version: 1.0.8

Great app!Very responsive, precise and very clear interface. Love it 😊.Version: 1.1.4

Incredibly ImpressedAs a diving instructor, I am very impressed as I have tested many different computers over the years and this meets all the requirements an average diver would need on a daily basis. this has now become my primary computer. The app logs dives and is very user friendly. Highly recommend..Version: 1.0.7

Good potential but needs some changesAfter trying the app for the first time, I really like the layout, compass, readability, and haptic feedback. But as everyone else has commented, PLEASE get rid of the fit to dive button. Handling of shallow dives also needs improvement. The dive shouldn’t automatically end immediately after ascending above 3ft. If you descend again shortly after surfacing, it should resume the dive. Or there should at least be a way to merge dives in the logbook. Finally we should be able to customize/disable the views that appear when scrolling the crown during a dive. Personally I don’t need to see my conservativism or PPO2 settings during a dive, but if I bump the crown I might end up seeing them instead of the compass.Version: 1.0.8

Works fairly well but needs polishingI was excited to be able to try the app with the Apple Watch ultra. I used it as my backup dive computer on a trip to little cayman. The display is very readable and worked well comparing it to my main dive computer a Petrel 3. The issue I had was when I placed the app into the dive mode and did a giant stride into the water, the app apparently switched back to surface mode before I submerged and stayed locked in the surface mode ignoring the dive. It would be nice if the depth exceeded a certain amount ( 1 foot, 5 feet, 10 feet ? ) that it would switch back to the dive mode automatically. I missed logging 3-4 dives because of this issue. The Petrel 3 worked fine do I had all the data..Version: 1.0.8

Working well, log book has room to improve. While initial versions had some annoying bugs, current shipping version works very well and is easy to use with some good features. Digital compass is really nice and setting waypoints makes navigation quite straightforward. Gas planner is easy to use and switching between air and Nitrox pre dive is simple. It’s worth working on an entry procedure with Oceanic+ to incorporate the requirement of pressing the action button to start the dive. Something like the following works for me: dump BCD air, breath out, submerge at least 1m, press action button, equalise. There’s no ability to record start and finish gas pressure in the logbook so be prepared to export dives using a seperate app and using a different log book if you want to track SAC/RMV..Version: 1.1.0

Clear alerts and infoNotwithstanding feelings about the subscription, the app itself makes the Ultra a great dive computer for strictly recreational purposes. After 6 dives with other dive computers in my other arm (I’m editor at a magazine that tests gear) I’m consider diving with the ultra alone. But only with profiles that Max out at 38-39 meters. I actually went down to 41 meters to see what happened and there was no freezing up. So, skeptical in the beginning, but impressed after 6 dives around Malta. Looking forward to potential updates and the crowdsourcing data after more users enter..Version: 1.0.3

Need to fix syncing.Since the latest update (May 2023) the watch app works well. Auto starts dive mode, though you still have to hit the action button to display stats even if you’re already done 40 feet. The display, deco meter, ascent speed, compass, and safety stops all seem to work well for me. But good luck getting your dive log to sync with the phone app. It seems completely random whether it will sync and what it will sync. After multiple reboots of both devices, connected to WiFi and Bluetooth with or without cell connectivity, it fails again and again. It say it syncs but no dives appear in the logs. Then it says it failed, but one dive appears leaving the rest still unsynched. It seems incredible sloppy for something that should just work. No decent instructions, the FAQ page is empty. No support. Good luck if you want to log your dives. But the computer seems to work well under water where, I guess, it matters most..Version: 1.1.1

Nice however…Apple Watch Ultra is a decent dive computer option for purely recreational divers. Bright easy to read display Haptic and audio alerts Easily configured I’ve been using Apple Watch ultra on a trip to Bonaire and it’s held a charge all day down to 45% by the time I go to bed (5-1 hour dives daily) Having to pay a fee for dive computer functionality is a definite and quite large point in the negative It’s honestly put a few dive buddies off purchasing the Apple Watch Ultra for use in Scuba diving. If Huish needs to cut a profit perhaps A one time subscription would be more alluring When I purchased the Apple Watch Ultra I don’t remember anyone say the dive functionality was a pay-to-play feature Shame on Huish. The recurring subscription appears like a money grab. IMO there’s no innovation in the app to reflect the recurrent cost Do I like the Apple Watch as a scuba computer. Yes. Do I love it and recommend it. No with caveats. It’s a subscription (pay-to-play) system It’s a definite no for anyone thinking they’ll progress further than basic recreational diving..Version: 1.1.4

Love this app and the watch! Will instantly be a 5 star program once air integration is added! Assuming there will be additional piece to purchase but really looking forward to that feature. Hopefully, even though I was told you weren’t developing that feature, you will soon!!.Version: 1.1.4

Love itIf Apple would make a dive computer this would be it. I’ve always been looking for a color computer that was instinctive to use. This is it! Easy to use and understand. I used it in cold fresh water with and without gloves. The compass works great (I wasn’t sure how well it would, if at all). Ok. Now for what it want for the upgrade: air integration. A logbook where you can input previous dives. An advanced compass where you can set reverse and other settings easily to find your way back to the entry point. Note: buy the extended band if doing cold water diving..Version: 1.1.1

Overall great appOverall decent app and good backup dive computer. When opening dive location planner the app will sometimes crash. Would love if you added the option to save / favourite dive spots so you don’t have to search all the time. Hopefully there are some cool add ons in the works..Version: 1.0.5

Great appReally happy with the experience of the this app. I’m a medium experienced diver with 60+ dives and PADI advanced open water certification and was really impressed with on first dive today at Molokini in Maui Hawaii. The end to end experience with this both on the dive and afterwards with the log book was fantastic. Dove with this side by side with my Sunto and the metrics were close enough to give me confidence. Some nice touches like the haptics and clear readout on safety stop. Watch readout much easier to read than Sunto LCD. Would love 1) air integration 2) the ability to manually enter previous dives from my paper log book 3) ability to download my data for backup and portability. 4) ability to add photos. Great job!.Version: 1.0.6

Good but seems glitchyFirst of all its pretty amazing to integrate a dive computer into an apple watch and it works really well - nothing like that bright screen when 20m deep :) However there are a few bugs and also i cant see any of the conplications for cresting a dive watch face. It says in the description there are complications but they dont show on my watch. Tried removing and reinstalling- restarting etc.. but no luck. Also the metric setting keeps on going back to degrees f which is really annoying.Version: 1.0.8
