Still problems with synchStarting working for a while with several dives finally synchronised to phone. But latest dive not seen on phone. And why have they removed custom gradient factors? Watch app no longer aligned with Shearwater dive computer. Annoying..Version: 1.1.4

Overall decent but has room for improvement.Overall this has become my primary dive computer with my other as secondary. Love the bright display with easy to read info. Wish I had more flexibility for what information is shown when under water. Should be able to familiarize myself with the interface without being on a dive. Doesn’t have any of the dive sites in Bonaire so I haven’t seen any community elements. Sync problem is a bit frustrating but force quitting the app on both devices is a usable workaround for now. Accidentally ended a dive early and started a new one immediately after - wish I could combine it into 1 dive. Sometimes my heading mark gets cleared unexpectedly. Would be nice to have to tap that twice to clear the heading. I wish I could do a daily subscription that auto renews. I got in the water the second day only to realize I needed to go renew my subscription. The month was more than I needed. I’d rather an option to auto renew daily so I just cancel at the end of the trip. Even better would be a lifetime option. Hope to see air integration soon!.Version: 1.1.2

Very DisappointedVery disappointed in the subscription options. No other dive watch on the market asks for a subscription with no option for a one off fee. I can’t believe that they ask for that on top of paying for a $1300 watch! As a Dive Master who would like to use the watch for every day use and diving purposes for hopefully quite a few years, the subscription model is so unprofessional! If it was a one off fee, I would be inclined to purchase the watch and use this app..Version: 1.0.6

First time try out this app after purchasedOne month subscription. App won't stay open on apple watch for unknown reasons. Still waiting for updates from support team.... Quite surprised it didn't work. Even tho many reviews on YouTube showing great features from it. Kind of the reason i bought the ultra......Version: 1.0.6

Doesn’t work properly and too expensiveDownloaded this app for my Ultra. It still doesn’t work properly. Back buttons Tony respond. Too expensive for what it is. Needs to be a one off payment instead of a subscription. Ruins the reason to have an Ultra due to this..Version: 1.0.6

Frustrating to the extremeThis app costs a lots to use for an occasional diver. So I decided I would try their $0.99 single day offer when I was in the Caribbean on a set of dives to see if this was even worth the $5 a day option. I had a lot of issues setting up the app to the watch. And then when I finally understood I had to set the mode to scuba diving it was too late for my dive that day and I was locked into snorkel mode. I thought it would auto move to dive mode after a specific depth, nope. Then it locked me out of switching the mode to dive for the next day for 24 hours. The real insult was later when I attempted to switch to dive mode it said I needed a qualifying plan, they wouldn’t recognize their own $0.99 offer for a day. So I’m out a $1 and never got to see if it was worth it. Buyer beware, the manual isn’t very clear on the details you need to do before to do a dive. Why even have snorkel mode..Version: 1.0.8

Purchased to use on diveCould not get app to load on to my apple ultra. Not impressed..Version: 1.0.8

Buggy app - lost all of my divesFrustratingly poor app. First use - entered the water and realised all of the units are default imperial - why? Please check my device locale or prompt during onboarding. Synced fine and made sure to change the units to metric for next time. Second use - completed two dives which appeared on my watch but would not sync to my phone, attempted manual syncing to no avail. Uninstalled the app on my phone and reinstalled. DO NOT DO THIS - cleared all of the unsynced dives on my watch. To make things worse - reset all of the settings on the watch app - back to imperial!.Version: 1.1.0

Money money MoneyOf course I understand companies make money. But this could have been handled much better. 🔹This could have been a 1 off payment app at a reasonable price. 🔹Oceanic could offer it to it’s current dive computer owners for free (for example I own the OC2 Limited addition and the AC300 +4 ocianic transmitters. 🔹Oceanic could try to sell accessories (transmitters etc) But because of greed I won’t pay 1 penny and keep using the computers I already own and my Ultra won’t see the deep..Version: 1.0.4

Buggy as hellMy watch says I did 4 short dives today, app synced only 2 of them. Can you plase contact me and fix this? For some other reason the altitude reported is 500 metres while my watch is reporting 24 m altitude. My watch is currently reporting an altitude of 24 metres, while Oceanic+ reports an altitude of 489 metres. After rebooting my watch app managed to get an accurate altitude reading. However after walking upstairs in my house the compass is giving a correct (a couple of metres higher reading) while the Surface Oceanic+ tab is still reporting the old reading from downstairs. Seems like they have a bug at updating the altotude reading, beware as it affects your dive computer!!!!!! ps: you also do not allow to amend the diving altitude retrospectively, which means I am stuck with bad data in the first place.Version: 1.0.8

Getting used to itFirst time - although perhaps not the app itself - watch detected a fall and I couldn’t then get it back to dive mode underwater. Watch and app need to have alternative underwater interface using buttons. Second time it switched from scuba to snorkelling on entry - so did not record as a dive. Next….Version: 1.0.8

DisappointingWas excited for the app but very disappointed. Got the ultra because of it’s dive computer function but this was a let down. The UI is confusing, even to just set up and start a dive. It ended up not letting me even start the dive function, then it crashes randomly. One thing a dive computer need to be is reliable and this is not. The design is also not intuitive and simple to use. I really wanted an Apple Watch to also double as a dive computer… so please I hope there is a different app that I can use and rely on..Version: 1.0.5

Only Snorkeling support on free versionApple hyped this capability in the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra. They seemed to sell this as an included feature. However this app only includes free access to Snorkeling. There are no dive capabilities in the free plan. This is extremely disappointing. There is already a built-in watch app for Snorkeling. This app adds nothing useful. Diving support was a big selling point for me in buying the Ultra version of the watch. Hopefully other developers can create a dive computer for free or a one off cost instead of a subscription. This is a complete ripoff..Version: 1.0.2

ErrorsWhen working this seems to be a good App, however my dives will not sync to my phone and now those dives seemed to have been erased from my watch. 3 initial dives migrated to my phone, with some messing around, but the next 4 did not. It seems to have bugs which is very frustrating.Version: 1.1.4

Generally good idea is blightedFirst bummer is a plan required to go diving. A brief glimpse at the Apple Watch Ultra doesn’t really imply that until you read the strings attached. Apple, given the price of the device and amount of knowledge about decompression algorithms available it is a shame that you are not working on your own diving app, at least a very conservative algorithm would be enough for a free app coming with the device. And it will pay back in the future as you can get in to a good niche on the diving computers market. Re app: yet in development but already charging quite a lot annually. I paid for my first dive computer $320 (the app for it is free) and it is still working, 12 years already. So the dive computer (with its app) cost me 3 times less per year than this app alone. I feel that here is something wrong with plan. It would be nice to have an option to pay once for standalone dive computer experience without your guys cloud services. Unfortunately, I could not find units settings for metric system in the phone app..Version: 1.0.6

RipoffMore than happy to buy an App for a set price, but a monthly or annual fee? Forget it. I will now buy a traditional dive computer, sorry Oceanic but it will be Apeks and a one off purchase. I’ll be happy to use the Apple Watch ultra when/if the subscription is dumped in favor of one off purchase price! Only a fool would pay the outrageous subscription fee!.Version: 1.0.7

Not bad but could be betterI use the Snorkelling function for spearfishing. The number of dives is often incorrect and you can only see the max depth, not depth of last dive. The duration of last dive is great, but there’s no surface interval timer so it’s hard to know how long in between dives if you’re not paying attention to the time. Sometimes the app exits on its own and sometimes it doesn’t automatically start, so still a few issues. But seems to be the only decent app on the market so a good start, given the depth gauge on the ultra is still fairly new..Version: 1.1.0

Works ok but wiped logsReally frustrating to have an app that fails on basic synchronisation to the point that dives on the watch fail to make it onto the phone or into the cloud. You don’t know when this will happen or why, but it will..Version: 1.1.4

App works super; Subscription system is crapThe app works perfectly well with the Ultra. Fid six dives as main computer and was thrilled. That said you can’t buy the app. You need a subscription which is pretty costly, on top of the pricey Ultra. And if you chose to cancel the subscription, they will delete your dive logs after 12 months! And they made sure you cannot download or upload the data. So basically this system keeps your data hostage unless you give them the money. If only there was a name for that.. That said, I would not have purchased the Ultra had i known Apple would not offer a built in dive app..Version: 1.0.6

Doesn’t workJust got new Apple Watch ultra. Cannot connect it in iPhone app to oceanic+.Version: 1.1.4

Needs major updatesApparently it is possible for me to surface directly to the parking lot of a shire dive site. In making it so a new dive does not start until after 10 minutes at the surface, a good and correct decision, it seems that they now mark the exit spot as 10 minutes after surfacing… not good. You need to get some divers on your development team, at least as product/project managers. I only give it 2 stars because the underwater user interface is pretty good. But everything else can use major improvements from how the syncing works ( I always have to force quit the Watch and phone app to get dive logs from the Watch to the phone) to when/where the dive starts/ends, to the needless and annoying “ready and fit to dive “ screen..Version: 1.1.4

Unexpected cost using Apple Watch as a dive computerWhen Apple announced that their new Apple Watch can be used as a dive computer, we were all super excited! When the oceanic+ app was released, I was very stoked to take my watch for dives. I was expecting to pay for the app to use its dive features but I was not expecting to pay monthly/yearly subscription to use it…😡 I understand that Apple couldn’t develop their own dive algorithm and require a third party company to help and it is understandable that we will need to pay to use it but not like this… The subscription fee is too much and other competitor dive computer companies cost half the price of the Apple Watch and there is no subscription fees to use the Watch itself or the app… This would of received a much higher review if it wasn’t for the subscription fees, I wouldn’t mind just paying for a one time fee (like paying for the app itself) to use the entire app’s feature. This will definitely turn off a lot of avid divers who want to use the Apple Watch as their dive computers… the features provided with the subscription is not worth the cost….Version: 1.0.8

Doesn’t update easily to phone log bookI’ve found you have to force close the app on the watch, and then reopen to retrieve dive data. Then the oceanic phone/iPad app will be able to update after the app is closed on the watch app..Version: 1.1.0

Many glitchesCan’t fully rely on the dive computer. I always have a backup computer. GPS doesn’t work. Issues syncing the watch with the app. My friend had an issue where the computer completely froze on him during a dive. It will be an amazing dive computer if it becomes reliable..Version: 1.0.6

Unable to switch from scuba mode. Confusing UXBought the subscription and was excited to go diving with my apple watch. The UI was confusing and I only saw an option to go snorkeling despite having the subscription. I was expecting the scuba mode to get enabled automatically, since the app asked for permission to launch itself when submerged. I went scuba diving and snorkeling mode activated. Hmm, ok. I got back to the shore and found the setting to launch scuba mode automatically instead. I was unable to switch to scuba mode since I used snorkeling mode within the last 24 hours. I am on a vacation and all my dives are within less than 24 hours of each other. Every new dive is forced into snorkeling mode and locks out the settings switch for 24 more hours… I am unable to use scuba mode on this vacation. There is no reason the app should default to snorkeling mode with an active subscription. There is no reason why the app should not be able to switch modes while diving when it detects that you are probably diving and not snorkeling (depth/time submerged). I understand that the decompression calculations are an issue, but there is no reason why you can’t reclassify your dive after its done. The app should have all the data already. The UX is confusing and I got locked out of using scuba mode for the length of my vacation. I might change my review next time I’m actually able to use the app..Version: 1.0.5

Waste of MoneyNot worth the money they steal monthly for a subscription that doesn’t work. 80% of my dives doesn’t sync from the watch to my iPhone app. Come in Oceanic catch a wake up and sort this out it’s been going on since you launched a very sun standard app..Version: 1.1.4

Buggy synchingThe Oceanic plus app really struggles synching my dives from my watch to the iOS app. I’ve tried the synch dives feature from both the profile and dive log area of the app, as well as rebooting the Apple Watch and my iPhone, putting both in charge, scrolling the dive log on my watch, but still it doesn’t update. The dive functionality on the watch is ok, but i would like to be able to input my starting and ending gas, as well as assign gear that isn’t oceanic and it’s affiliate companies. For what oceanic charge for the use of the app it’s disappointing.Version: 1.1.3

Poor appHaving had the watch since December and had over 30 dives with it… I can safely say it’s not a reliable dive computer alone. Definitely need a secondary computer when you dive. Never ending syncing issues back to the phone. Yesterday I lost the complete days diving, after no success I decided to uninstall and re install the app on the watch, which resulted in losing all the dive history of the day, worse still didn’t recognise I dove yesterday. So today day dive again synced first dove second dove same issues as yesterday. Also during the safety stop today the 3min countdown froze ! Pls pls update the app and take this seriously..Version: 1.1.3

BuggyUsing this real time in Mexico. My dive logs don’t sync for a good 12 hours. Even after manually syncing and syncing to watch. Since the logs aren’t syncing the planning using the app is nought. Back to dive tables. Challenging that I can’t activate my flashlight with the action button while on dive mode or that the oceanic app doesn’t allow it. I missed a safety stop and the screen wouldn't clear. Till I ended my dive. Safety stops are just that; for Safety. If there’s an emergency safety stop for No Deco dive is just that. Safety not required. There should be a setting regarding the alarms. The haptics are more distracting than anything. Same with max depth. The continual alarm is quite distracting. The diver should have the option of preference in how many alerts. Also activating the compass or way back feature on the watch is also fruitless since I can’t see any other screen than oceanic plus and can’t scroll through to waypoints. Realizing it just came out in Nov so I’m hoping for some stability improvements. Like what y’all have done so far. Thanks..Version: 1.1.0

I am fit and ready to dive. Can we now get rid of the infuriating splash screen? When it works, it is lovely; I wouldn’t ask for anything more except, maybe, for it to share information with other dive logging applications (and third parties took care of that). The problem is that as I spend a lot of time on the surface as well as underwater, all I ever see on the screen is “I am fit and ready to dive”, “press action button to select”. I then have to drop my camera, DPV, slate, reel, mesh bag or whatever else I am actually using to try to find the tiny button in the folds of my dry suit with my 7mm gloves. My Shearwater Petrel is on and counting from when I say the dive starts and remains on until I say it ends or it runs out of battery 50 hours later. I know that Oceanic+ does log in the background but I don’t want to have to press the button, ever, after I have started the App or it starts automatically (that bit is great). Which lawyer thinks it is safer to sign a contract every time you go underwater than actually showing you the life-saving information you need? We should do that on planes: every ten minutes pilots need to swipe their up-to-date license and medical in or the attitude, altitude and speed indicators go blank..Version: 1.1.0

Lots of work to do.While the Watch App is pretty solid this app needs a lot of work. Missing features. Can’t log previous dives. Can’t add your own equipment unless it’s Oceanic. No iPad app. No dark mode to name a few..Version: 1.0.5

Subscription sync issuesMostly happy and great having a nice bright screen but there are reliability issues. I was on the monthly subscription but mid-month through diving the Oceanic app failed to sync subscription and locked me out of scuba mode. Continued with a dive and was l locked out for another 24 hours..Version: 1.0.6

Meh,The Apple Watch Ultra is quite the dive computer, if only the Oceanic + app were the same. To say you can use it as a logbook is quite a stretch, you are NOT able to enter your start/end air pressures. The past two days, it shows start/end location on map of first dive but only shows end position of second dive on map. As stated in other reviews, you can not personalize your dive gear bag. You are limited to entering products already listed. One would think it could accept your dive buddies from your iPhone contacts list but you must enter dive buddy individually each dive. One would think these are things available in other dive apps and have nothing to do with the dive computer aspect but someone dropped the ball. Disappointed in this paid dive app..Version: 1.0.7

Unreliable!! And dangerousWas initially hopeful that I can rely 100% on the Ultra + Oceania+ as my only and primary dive computer. But it failed me and please beware and use with care as it may cause accidents and be your last dive. Issues as follows: #1 dive logs stopped sync to your phone - feedback to the developer with their acknowledgment but not resolutions #2 logged rubbish dive logs on the watch which cannot be deleted #3 after entering into a deco dive accidentally did not recommend a deco stop - dangerous #4 poor manuals write outs and cannot be used for contingency planning #5 does not go into dive mode automatically! Still need to trigger the action button. Remember that there are many pre-dive checks on equipments and the dive watch should already sense that you are in water and turn on automatically! #6 MOST DANGEROUS incident! despite an active subscription app was In snorkelling mode. I did not change any settings. Noticed it after I reached 7m!! had to continue the dive without the dive computer turn on!! This is absolutely dangerous and realised that this app cannot be trusted. After I surface realised there was no subscription and cannot change to scuba mode but on the phone the app showed there was still an active subscription! Finally had to reboot the app on the watch to get back to scuba mode. Hence use this app at your own risk. I hope APPLE would revoke their exclusivity and allow other dive apps..Version: 1.1.1

Logbook does not Sync ProperlyI have made about a 100 dives so far with the Oceanic app and the Apple Watch Ultra. There is a reoccurring problem syncing the watch and the phone. The 1.1.4 update was supposed to address the problem (as noted in an email announcing the update) but it has only made it worse. Now nothing updates at all. Tech support says you just need to restart the phone and the watch and then sync the watch to the phone (in account settings) and then sync the logbook between your devices and the cloud but no matter how many times this is done, the number of dives does not update. It is also a very slow process. We have tried this on two different ultra watches and two different phones and other divers who I have met have the same problem. It’s a real shame for what has the potential to be a great product. This is all the more disappointing for a subscription based app that is the only dive computer option for the Ultra Watch. Oceanic and Apple need to get it together..Version: 1.1.4

PointlessI don't understand how this can be marketed at recreational divers with a sub model - most recreational divers do maybe 1 or 2 dives a year, how is that enough to justify a subscription? Also, there's no way to manually add previous dives. This would be a nice option at least but nope. Bad stuff from Apple, sort it out.Version: 1.0.6

Disappointed, Not Really Useful for ScubaI had high hopes that this would be able to meet my needs as a casual sport diver. It does not. I was doing some fairly shallow reef dives, less than 25 feet. The major problem is that every time I near the surface the app would decide that I was done with my dive and display either the end of dive screen or the “Ready to Dive” screen. Sometimes pushing the Action Button would cause it to start a new dive, sometimes it would do nothing leaving me without dive info. The app really needs to prioritize giving the diver information about the dive over a dive summary screen or the liability shifting screen. If a diver is at depth they have obviously decided they are ready to dive and the info they need is bottom time, and NDL info. Denying this info to a diver at depth is negligent. Also, it is well established convention that a new dive starts after 10 minutes surface interval, not whenever the diver ascends to a certain depth. It seems the app is conflating free dive functionality with scuba functionality. The first day of diving the app wouldn’t even display dive info, just the zeros as if I where still on the surface. I checked the Health app and it did record depths, the app just didn’t show it. That night I reinstalled the app and the next day it worked but with the disappointing behaviors described above..Version: 1.0.9

LogbookI love the app on my watch but it often doesn’t update on the app on my phone which is very frustrating..Version: 1.1.4

Another SubscriptionI was extremely excited for this app. I do not enjoy the subscription prices. I would not mind paying a decent amount upfront like I was actually buying a dive computer but the cost for these subscriptions are high. What happens if I have logs and then decide not to pay since I won’t be diving for a few months? Do they just disappear? Do I lose information? If I’m a certified PADI diver they have an app and log book for free from what I see. It would be better to see subscriptions geared towards different features. If you want the social aspect and all that pay a monthly fee or whatever. But just to access the dive computer on the new watch should be a solid one-time price in my opinion. It would be better to get a regular Apple Watch and just buy a nice dove computer instead of paying monthly/yearly for this..Version: 1.0.2

Favourite dive brand decent into corporate greedWow. Was happy to pay for an app with a one time purchase, but subscription only? Really? What a way to give a big middle finger your loyal customers. I can buy a dive computer for the same price as an annual membership and it would last me way longer than the Apple Watch. Big joke. I was the biggest advocate for oceanic dive gear too, and was looking forward to diving on a connected device. I'll wait for another third party who has enough sense to not fall for the subscription gimmick..Version: 1.1.0

Serious issues with appSerious issues with this app. It changed to snorkel mode mid dive for me and I have been unable to get back into dive mode even though I have a subscription and have had no responses from the developers. Not good enough when your playing with divers lives.Version: 1.0.8

Signing in doesn’t work!!No good fix bugs before you release it I’m going to stick with my teric!.Version: 1.0.3

App doesn’t sync and loses divesHow can they charge for this? Why is it endorsed by Apple? The app doesn’t sync dives from the watch after days of waiting and trying everything. We’ll it says it has synced, but they aren’t visible in all. Tried to reinstall the phone app and then lost all dive logs from the watch. Shallower diving around 5m does not seem to be supported as it just ends the dive or triggers a safety stop. There is no easily accessible guide to the app’s terminology. This should be easily available without an internet connection given that most ocean diving is done in places with limited connectivity. If someone could please contact me with a solution to the non-syncing issue and a refund, that’d be super..Version: 1.1.4

UninstallJust buy a dive computer. It’s reliable and a one off payment. Subscription based companies can get fked. No one can afford $125 a year each year..Version: 1.0.8

To expensiveApp will be eventually more expensive than watch which doesn’t still right with me. The depth app loads into apple health but this one doesn’t yet it’s partnered up with apple why is this..Version: 1.0.6

Sadly disappointedI got this for my ultra watch, like others I was excited to use my watch for diving First impressions are the app is really basic and poor. My wife has a Garmin dive watch and it knocked spots off this for data and functionality. The main reason I am giving it a 1 is because we we’re pretty shallow on our first days diving and the watch ended the dive on me 3 times so I don’t really have any reliable data. The wife on the other hand has the complete dive, depths, temps, breaks, no fly time… etc all nicely displayed. On our 2nd and 3rd dive I reverted to the inbuilt depth and temp sensor and this did the trick for me and I have the Garmin data to fall back on for the more technical aspects. I’m sad this didn’t deliver. Especially for the super high price..Version: 1.0.9

UNSAFE, lost in-app purchase, wouldn’t provide infoAfter an uncontrolled accent the watch app lost its license (in-app monthly purchase, 30 days remaining), device was offering for me to upgrade which wouldn’t have worked as there was no cell coverage by and I couldn’t use the touchscreen plus I was quite panicked. I went to resubmerge to depth to compress then execute a controlled accent - the watch claimed I was ‘snorkelling’ at 12m for 10minutes. I needed to know depth, no deco time etc and I was underwater so I couldn’t very well fix the problem with my phone. Dreadful product, not safe. Besides this major safety issue, the fact that you have to confirm fit to dive rather than it just working is a massive failure to me. No other dive computer I’ve seen requires this. Difficult to keep the compass up on display. Not good. Really disappointed..Version: 1.0.6

Divers did not create this appBecause if they did, they would know to get rid of that extra button click when you enter the water; or let the phone app load even if you don’t have a signal, since many of us dive in remote areas. They would let you export your logbook to popular sites, because many of us migrating from other dive computers want to keep our logbook in the same place. They would ensure logbook synchronization between phone and watch is immediate and not randomly working, because divers like to review their logbook on a phone not a watch. All this and more, means I can’t use this as my primary dive computer even though I really love the Apple Watch Ultra. We need more diving apps that work well, for AWU..Version: 1.1.4

Has a lot of potential, but a few key issuesThis is the first dive computer I’ve “owned” (quotes because if the software subscription). When it works, it’s great. But it really needs more and better dive start and stop options. I just did a bunch of cavern dives, and it often thought a dive was over when i came shallow in the middle of a dive. I had to realize it had ended, and restart it, so some dives became split into many dives and it may have missed segments. On another dive, I started it, but it decided I was done sometime before submerging and of course you can’t control anything underwater, so that dive was lost. The other issue is the lack of detailed export. As long as I’m paying for it, I should be able to export All of My data easily. P.S. Max ascent rate is misleadingly high for some very short time/distance maneuvers, there should be a time or distance threshold below which max ascent rate is not relevant..Version: 1.0.8

Needs moreThis app looks great but unfortunately 90% of dive computer watches have air integration. I assumed that it wouldn’t for this app because Apple hast to create some hardware to make that work. That being said $80 a year is expensive without air integration I’m assuming that Apple come out with a second version watch with this if there’s enough people that want this app or don’t buy this app. As a diver why have a wrist watch dive computer if it doesn’t have integration in the year 2022. I would gladly pay a one time fee for this app. But without air integration, asking for a subscription is stretching it. As far as logbook back up, almost all dive computers offer this. I have four r that already do this. So to get divers to purchase this it Hass to stand out or at least be equal to a normal dive computer that people already have. Otherwise you’re only going to gain new divers and for $800 for a watch that you have to pay $80 a year for a subscription I can’t imagine enough people do that..Version: 1.0.5

A few issues to resolveI have now used the Scuba App for quite a few dives. When carrying out shallow dives, the app keeps ending the dive prematurely whilst diving close to the surface at around 1.5m. I have to keep starting the dive again. Can the developer include the option to end the dive manually? On one occasion it happened so much (about 5 times), the app froze!! Big safety issue. Secondly the app needs the option to add custom gear. Thirdly the app needs to have the ability to manually add past dives. The app (and Watch Ultra) are a long way off being capable of of being used as a primary Dive computer. The display is great, just needs the functionality improvements..Version: 1.0.8

Only half workedUsed the app for a couple of dives with my watch. The watch recorded the fact that the dives happened and during the dive gave alerts such as safety stops etc. it also showed a chart of both the dives on the watch. That’s where it ends, however. Each of the dives show zero time etc. contacted the company but as yet have no response!.Version: 1.0.5

Current Subscription approach is a failure modeOn a 7 day diving vacation and can’t use my watch for the next 24 hours. I had just used the watch in Scuba mode on my first dive of the day and it worked perfect. I surface and am resting on a remote island before another dive. Coincidentally my subscription (which is on auto-renewal) was scheduled to renew that day but instead the watch now thinks I don’t have a subscription and goes into snorkeling mode. I’m remote so I have no means of syncing. After my second dive I find out I’m locked out of Scuba mode for 24 hours because I dove with it Snorkeling mode. I’m on a diving vacation and now have to forgoe using the watch for a days worth of diving for the features I paid for to return. Total fail and beyond frustrating since this is so predictable in a subscription based business model..Version: 1.0.8

Get a dive watchNo average depth No ability to log dives from other computers (which is needed as the Apple Watch only has 36hours of battery.) I dive every day, would be great if the app was adjusted with these changes.Version: 1.1.4

RubbishWas it even tested before release!!! After watching a few videos on using the app on the watch and phone, I kind of liked the set up and interface so despite the poor reviews I decided to give it a go myself. Well it failed from the get go, I can’t get past the DOB section, it won’t let me sign up. I have tried numerous times and no luck. And yes before you ask, I have uninstalled a few times and updated the latest version. VERY POOR wish there was a option for Zero star as 1 Star in my book mean a bit is decent..Version: 1.0.9

Still very disappointingI gave this another try having seen that, to be fair, the developer had addressed some of the more egregious issues. It took three attempts buying a “one day” pass for it to register in the app. There is no “restore purchases” button like in many other subscription based apps. And of course, Apple have charged me three times so now I have to sort out two refunds. The app now at least defaults to Scuba and the interface whilst diving is well designed. I will say it is even more conservative than Suunto - I took my D6i on same 25 min dive to 28m and when the Oceanic gave me 1 min no deco remaining, the Suunto was showing 8. Having completed the dive it appears the syncing between watch and iPhone isn’t working as none of todays dives show anywhere other than just on the Watch app. I really really want this app to be worth the money they want to charge for it but they have a long way to go..Version: 1.1.0

Works good, when it works. This app turns your Apple Watch ultra into a great BACKUP dive computer but I would NEVER trust it to be my primary computer. I used it on 31 dives last month in both warm and cold water. The display and info are great, but there were a few occasions when after I backrolled of the boat, the computer would only display the Snorkeling mode even though I had paid for the subscription. I discovered that if you are somewhere with poor or no internet access ( like a dive boat in the Caribbean) and when your computer ‘talks’ to your phone, but your phone is dead, or the internet sucks, your subscription isn’t activated on the watch. If you were on a live aboard for a week, your fancy new watch would just be a, watch. Huish, please make your app/subscription so that once activated, the watch doesn’t need to “call home” until the subscription expires..Version: 1.1.4

Oceanic+ app crashes, dives are not recorded!Dear App Support Team, I went diving this morning using a hookah system which I thought the free version of the app will be perfect for. I was really excited to try out this app and have been waiting for the opportunity for quite some time. I was 19min in to the dive when the app crashed and reset all my stats to zero! Not a life-death situation in my case as I’m in shallow 12m waters but very disappointed with my experience. The app froze another time on my way back to the shore. The app also didn’t log the second half of my dive and I’m on the latest version of both WatchOS and Oceanic+ I would also like to see a non-subscription based app like so many other comments. Please make the app more affordable and reliable you will see better engagement from the community. In relation to the GUI, I like the Watch app but the IOS app is a little cluttered and navigation could be improved. Eg. Shouldn’t go into account to sync with the Watch. All in all it’s a great first effort from Oceanic but much more work is required. Thanks!.Version: 1.0.6

Too early to be released?I'm sure this is a very complicated exercise but the issues everyone has highlighted are often safety issues. A local group of us has sent a list of all of the issues. Biggest is not being able to set multiple depth alarms. The other is a subscription. It is twice the cost of a battery replacement in Australia. On the snorkel mode there is no option to pause it if you were taking a rest. There are currently no Freediving functions as with dedicated Scuba watches available. A rechargeable watch here is around $550AU with great social media functions via DeepBlu and huge screen. You can set multiple alarms and there is no battery replacement cost yearly. A dive guide will want to know if you have a dive watch. It is too difficult to tell if you have a subscription as well. This issue is particularly dangerous. Issues highlighted are required for safety. Releasing something and trying it on the public is not a good idea in dangerous environments..Version: 1.1.2

A real low for AppleI can’t believe I have what was described as the Apple Watch ultra dive computer and have to pay hundreds of pounds more to be able to use it as one. You really need to re think this one Apple. Without paying this is Just an expensive titanium paperweight that does no more than the standard watch..Version: 1.0.4

Good underwater but has issuesDiving with Apple Watch is terrific for so many reasons both on the shore without the need of your phone and underwater. As a dive computer the oceanic app worked great. Super easy to use and see underwater with all the required values. Switching to nitrox was so much easier than my mares dive computer. HOWEVER, very flakey at the surface. Continuously having to enter your passcode because it can’t feel your wrist through the wetsuit. You then have to navigate through buttons to get it ready to dive again. Really funny, it then wants you to purge out the water from the watch while you’re in the water! Eventually, we just ignored all the menus and descended anyway and it switched itself to dive mode on its own and was fine. The biggest problem we had was syncing the watch logs with the phone. We got maybe the first 5 dives sync’d and then it stopped. We tried app updates, resync, power on/off, nothing worked. We couldn’t reinstall in fear of losing our logs on the watch. Very annoying. So yes, there are annoyances that I’m hoping will get addressed. I will continue to dive with it because it’s very good underwater, has a very small footprint with your gear, and all the dials are easy to understand and intuitive.Version: 1.1.4

Sync IssuesUp until now...my third dive trip in a year with this watch and app, I had no problems with syncing my watch and having my logbook uploaded to the app. Well, I cannot say the same now...ever since the first day of diving, the logbook does not update. Even when I force sync. There is also no way to manually input dives. Well, the data was on my phone...so I tried deleting the app (but learned that also deletes the app from my watch). And when you do this and redownload the app on your phone...that info is backed up. But guess what, your watch is wiped clean...and now I've lost 7 dives (2 days worth of dive information. Because the phone would not sync the info, it had no chance of being saved...unless I had chosen to delete the phone app. But then, it was syncing anyway...so now, I've lost data. There needs to be a better system..Version: 1.1.0

Can’t log inLaunched today managed once to sign in and when I tried to log back in later won’t work just keeps going back to the Home Screen if this finally works and happens before dives it’ll be a waste of time completely as an app sort it out.Version: 1.0.2

Somewhat disappointingMediocre app design but it works with some bugs. The subscription fee is an insult. No other dive computer requires such a thing after spending a bundle already. The computer should auto-start upon entering the water like all others do— I always forget to push the button until I am down. I got two “Max OTU” warnings for no reason, one time on air after 30 minutes at about 50’. I also don’t like the continuous pulsing during the safety stop. Finally the dive log has a ridiculous list of gear to choose from instead of being able to type in your own description. Here’s hoping a competing app becomes available..Version: 1.0.6

Good thing I did keep my SuuntoI wanted to try my new watch with the app in Bonaire, and out of the 6 first dives, The app ended the dive 2 minutes in the dive with no way to restart the dive underwater. Good thing I had my suunto as a backup so I did have to cancel my dives. Also subscription is to pricey for what we get..Version: 1.0.8

Planning functions don’t work. The planning functions don’t work - when I click on either “no deco planner” or “location planner” nothing happens except the main menu bar at the bottom of the screen disappears and I have to manually quit the app and relaunch it. Are these functions not included in the cost of a monthly subscription?.Version: 1.0.8

Good startThe app works well on a dive, the data fields are nice and clear and the main info is there. My only frustration is that, if you surface to check your location and descend again, it ends the dive and starts another one, most computers allow you to set how long it is before the computer ends the dive and this would no doubt be an easy fix in a future version. Update - on my fourth dive, the app crashed 7 minutes into the dive at 3 metres, red screen of death and the app can’t be restarted underwater to give even depth readings. Luckily I am using as a backup device. In 25 years of diving this is my first complete failure of a dive computer..Version: 1.0.8

DisappointingIt’s a start but it’ll be a while and need some upgrades before it’s going to replace your dive watch (if ever) 1) Absolutely unnecessary to ask every time if I’m ready to dive. Literally no other watch does this. 2) No import/export logs. Presumably this will show up at some point. 3) No air integration. Not itself a deal breaker for me personally but again, this is really table stakes for a dive watch. 4) Price is excessive. I suspect I represent a fair percentage of the average recreational diver insofar as I may get in 4 to 12 dives a year when I travel. That doesn’t mean I’m not passionate about having a proper set of kit to support my passion. If you average 8 dives, it’s $10 per use per year and it sits idle otherwise or is essentially useless for scuba without paying. Feels a bit of a money grab. $30 or under is reasonable. Both Apple & Oceanic are best in breed companies so I expect, after some growing pains, for them to make improvements but as it stands today, it’s a disappointing first effort and not worth almost $80 a year..Version: 1.0.6

Can’t complete sign up!After a very long wait, I was excited to finally have access to this app. I downloaded it to my iPhone, went to the setup page, read terms & conditions and input my birthday, and went to sign up using my email. Every time I try to sign up, I get this message: “An internal error has occurred, print and inspect the error details for more information”. I see no other info. I’ve tried using alternate email addresses and passwords, with the same result. I attempted to sign up using my Apple account instead, but every time I click “Agree” it lands me back on the Sign Up page. I literally just want to sign up, get a subscription, and start using this as a dive computer and the very first part of this (signing up for an account) is already so buggy. Please fix this!.Version: 1.0.4

Locked OutSo, 3rd and 4th dives with it. App had updated between dives and switched units back to imperial, annoying, but I can convert. 4th dive app started properly at surface, working well, but one of our group had a gear issue so a surface delay. During this App switched back to surface mode, but scree stayed locked and would not go back in to dive mode. This is not only stupid, but actually dangerous. Should be able to switch on dive mode anytime with push of action button. Surely this would be easy to code!.Version: 1.0.8

Sadly disappointedI used this watch/app to do my open water course only to have the app crash on me as I was about to enter the water for my final dive of the day. It logged me out of the app and I needed my phone on order to get my subscription active again. This meant my dive to 18m was recorded as a snorkelling. With no way to edit this post-dive my app logbook in incorrect. I can’t help but feel that they yearly subscription is too high and this should have been made a lifetime/one off payment. On a positive note, on the dives where it worked the screen was clear and bright and the alerts for a safety stop were strong enough to feel them through my dry suit..Version: 1.0.8

Still some bugs to iron outI used this app for 12 dives earlier this month, the watch performed without issue and sync’d to my iPhone 13 Pro, where on entering the logbook page I was able to update the dives without issue. Unfortunately that’s where the good stops. A few days ago I decided to use the planner on my iPhone, to see what the conditions were like for a proposed dive in the coming days alas the planner page just locks out, no access to Location planning or Deco planning. I’ve emailed their tech support, but am still waiting…… I do feel slightly peeved having paid for a full year subscription and only getting half the functionality, perhaps if the subscription were reduced during this beta testing phase, it may ease the dissatisfaction..Version: 1.0.8

Very disappointingTrusting Apple (or in the case, Apple’s SW partner Huish Outdoors, who also make good scuba diving gear, I opted for the yearly subscription, eve though it is quite expensive. I totally regret it now. The app is cumbersome, unreliable, crashes, needs several actions for it to actually start logging a dive., controls are not logical… Please buy a proper dive computer and do not spend money on this app! I’ll continue using my Shearwater gear, thank you..Version: 1.0.8

Needs plenty of workThere is a great foundation. But it needs to be MORE USER FRIENDLY, BOLDER TEXT AND MORE CUSTOMISATION! For something that costs decent money for users there should be way more features.Version: 1.0.6

Standard features with ++ pricingThe Apple ultra costs a bomb, a dive computer should have been included for free anyway. The fact that it prompts you for countless details and then has SaaS pricing for standard features is irritating. The App is fine but unremarkable..Version: 1.1.0

Océanic + with Apple Watch ultraTook the membership for a month as I wanted to try it (guess I like technology) and used it as my back up computer ( I use the Teric from Shearwater since January and before my regular computer was the Garmin MK1) My experience with Oceanic+ , it is a gem to use underwater , clear works beautifully as long as you don’t go beyond 40m (130f), alarm a bit quick to go on , if I put my arm fast to the surface it detects an rapid ascent rate… but stays for 1/4 of a sec . Problems I got was syncing it to my phone, first dive stayed in limbos, the 3 next synced, than the first one did sync, but impossible to sync the other 6 dives, saying that the phone and the watch needed to be on the same OS, I upgraded to 9.5 On my 11th dive I felt something stinging me, it was the watch that was so hot that it was burning me, screen was dark. I put it in the water tank used for the camer, the watch never came back to life . The concept is good, but it needs major improvement and I will never rely on that watch as a main computer. Emile.Version: 1.1.2

Doesn’t work offlineI got the app the day it came out and I was on my way to dive in Papua New Guinea. Unfortunately, every time it tried to open the app on my phone to download my dives, it kept crashing. I had no cell service for 10 days. Back in the states now but frustrated that I couldn’t download my dives while offline. I also hate that you have to confirm that you are “fit to dive”. The dive should record as soon as you hit the water. Many times I forgot to confirm. Also, the app will not synch all the dives on my watch. I did 19 dives and they are on the watch log but the app only says 8 dives. I even tried to manually sync but they don’t show up. Too many bugs. Update: now using the newest update in Indonesia. When I start a dive, it automatically goes into water lock and I can’t confirm that fit to dive. Now all my dives are “ghost dives”. Very annoying..Version: 1.1.0

Needs improvement.I can’t believe that Apple allowed this app to exists on the marketplace especially with an activity such as scuba diving where it is critical to have the right information at the right time. - The dive app in the watch ends without any notice as soon as you’re <1m depth. So if you start the dive on the watch and re-surface even for a little bit before descending for the actual dive, it will stop the dive monitoring and just go to surface mode. This is annoying and dangerous. I’m still a student but in my instructional dives, it was basically impossible to use since we were constantly surfacing. I can imagine this being a huge issue in a real dive as well. I found it was in surface mode mid dive and I couldn’t start the dive mid water for whatever reason even though I configured the action button. Supposed to have a 5 min timer before ending dive but that never happened - The no deco planner and location planner simply won’t open on my iPhone app. I have a 13 pro. Don’t care much about the planner as there are others that I can use but the auto surface mode really needs to be fixed asap. I wouldn’t advise using this without a backup computer..Version: 1.0.8

Needs improvementThe good things: The watch itself: There’s a lot to like with the AWU dive computer - the display/UX beats any other dive computer I’ve used hands down. With the last upgrade, a lot of the auto launching/stopping dive issues have been resolved. I haven’t had any issues with controlling things directly from the watch while on a boat. Mid dive - It’s easy to use the wheel to scroll between key data points. I also like that the compass heading is embedded in the dive function; I can set a heading while down. The companion app: /when it works/ I like the summary home page and the log book layouts - they’re easy to use and digest. Problems: 1. The App is TERRIBLE at syncing log book data to the phone. It’s not reliable; even now, two weeks after my last dive, I have a dive that won’t sync onto my phone app. 2. The oceanic+ app says it only stores logbook info for 12 inactive months, which means that it’s not suitable for a source of truth repository of all my dive history. Since that’s how the app is designed, make it possible to export the logbook so that I can keep 1 overall log of all my dives. 3. Relatedly, I can’t import previous dive history, furthering the issue that the app cannot function as a true, lifetime, logbook book..Version: 1.1.3

Completely unreliableTook out a subscription but it didn’t sync to the watch so on the dive boat I couldn’t use it. I then resync’d when back on land and am now told I still can’t use it for 24hrs as I dived with it but not in dive mode. So day 3 of dive holiday and still not been able to use it. Hate it.Version: 1.0.5

So much potential but not readyI tried using the app twice - once in snorkel mode and once in scuba mode. I’m the snorkel mode, it was a great second display with a compass. However the app seemed to freeze often with no updates to the compass direction. It would later start and stop again for no apparent reason. A major flaw with the scuba version was that if the safety stop starts and you drift down to 21 feet, it will stop and restart when you come back up. Another annoying feature is that if you pop up to the surface for a peek, or simply pop back up to fix an issue, the app ends the dive and requires some manipulation to start again. This was seemingly impossible with my rubber dry suit gloves. The display was nice! I won’t be subscribing until there are some fixes to those problems as my current computer functions much better at the moment..Version: 1.0.8

Diving log missingI did 4 diving and I could check it on watch. But I can’t find it on phone..Version: 1.1.0

Disappointed poor executionReview of the Oceanic+ App: I recently downloaded the Oceanic+ app in hopes of exploring the underwater world and enhancing my diving experience. However, I encountered some significant issues that hindered my ability to fully enjoy the app. Firstly, upon launching the app, I faced difficulty getting past the age confirmation and acceptance of terms and conditions. It seemed to be an endless loop, preventing me from proceeding further. This initial hurdle was frustrating and prevented me from fully utilizing the app's features. Additionally, when attempting to dive virtually using the app, I encountered frequent freezing issues. This was disappointing as I had hoped to immerse myself in the virtual underwater environment. The freezing problems interrupted the experience and made it difficult to enjoy the app to its fullest potential. Overall, I found the Oceanic+ app to be disappointing due to its issues with age confirmation, terms and conditions, and freezing during dives. These technical problems greatly impacted my ability to engage with the app and explore its features. I hope that the developers can address these issues in future updates, as the concept of the app holds great potential for diving enthusiasts like myself..Version: 1.1.4

Snorkelling is badI got my watch ultra and downloaded Oceanic app as it is the only one that can access depth data except of built in Depth. I’m snorkelling / freediving so I was excited I could replace my dive watch. How wrong was I. No information of surface time after a dive, labels were truncating when session was over an hour so I couldn’t even see seconds. After all that there isn’t even a dive chart available in the app. Just number of dives, max depth (rounded to full meters) and max time. No way to export or see the data in a better way. App also didn’t export the session as a workout. Not good, shame there is no alternatives..Version: 1.0.6

A bit dangerous and how much???Have dived with it a few times now, and was immediately surprised to find out that it won’t start automatically. You need to press a button to accept a “fit and ready to dive” question, while already diving! A bit late now, I’m under water. So now I have press a button while descending to see my depth…oh wait I’m holding a camera in my other hand, and now I need to put air in my BCD, clip off a camera and concentrate on pressing a button. Not safe. It’s adding more task loading and is unexpected behavior as no other dive computer requires this. If you don’t pay attention you could be very deep before realising it hasn’t started. Perplexing this is a requirement. Also don’t go below 40m, as it locks you out of scuba completely during the dive (Apple’s fault as they don’t allow the hardware to give depths below 40m) Another annoying issue is shallow dives or surfacing briefly causes the dive to stop. I had one dive become five because I needed to surface a few times during it. It should wait a minute or so before ending the dive. And a subscription model for a dive computer? Are they even going to be adding new features for my subscription. So far they don’t seem to be as the above issues are well known and haven’t changed. Maybe Oceanic don’t care as they would prefer you buy their dive computer anyway. Might go back to my trusty Mares..Version: 1.0.8

Not impressed with having to PayI was so excited 😆 to get the Apple Watch ⌚️Ultra and use it for my SCUBA 🤿 diving (Adv Diver +Deep Wreck & Nitrox). What I’m not impressed with is having to pay a subscription to be able to use it as such. I probably wouldn’t have got the watch if that is the case and invested in a Garmin instead..Version: 1.0.5

Love the Watch App, Dive Log is very BasicI have done a over a dozen dives so far with the watch app and very much enjoy the simplicity of use and clear lay out. Careful: if you violate 40m depth limits two things happen. First, you will be locked out of the Scuba function for 48hrs for the violation. Second, and more concerning, it immediately restricts the possibility of using the compass during the rest of your dive. Why it does this when it could potentially make a bad situation worse seems to me to be a serious mistake. Note: if you wear the Apple Watch while diving during a Scuba violation, it may automatically trigger the snorkeling function and penalize you with another Scuba 24hr lock out. What I’m underwhelmed with is the post-dive experience with the iPhone dive log. No dive numbering possible (you have to change the name of the dive). No import/export of dive logs. You can’t add Dive Master or Operator. No place for their signature or number. No drop-down list of dive buddies. Can’t edit/add type of dive, ie no way to identify a dive as a “Shore” dive. No way of adding fish or coral seen. Photos/Videos can’t be tagged to the dive. Can’t edit Equipment list. Can’t edit Gas Mix post-dive, ie say you accidentally selected 33% Nitrox instead of 32% but wish to log it correctly afterwards. These seem to be very easy things to have added at the launch of the app (they are standard on almost all other dive log apps) but they didn’t. Right now, I wouldn’t move my dive logging to this app. I use another dive computer and its app as my primary dive computer..Version: 1.0.6

Not worth itSounds like a good idea, on paper. Right until the subscription to get less than what you get with a regular 200£ dedicated dive computer. The app is not fully developed and delivers continuous crashes. Apple, you have the resources (staff, time, money and data) to make this watch a respectable alternative to traditional dive watches/computers, and yet you decide to launch a Casio DEP-600 twenty years later and at five times the price?.Version: 1.0.5

Can’t sign up!!!There are no check boxes for terms so you can’t sign up, I mean come on, who tested this. This app should have been provided by Apple with the Watch , cost is way to much!! I have never bought a dive computer we’re I had to pay especially a subscription which I can not stand. Shame on Apple!! They advertise it as a dive watch but it’s not, even Garmin's Watch comes with what you need. Shame on Apple, it is way to much for something that should be free and don’t get me started on subscriptions. It gets ridiculous shelling out all this money for subscriptions which I am done with. So this Watch was a waste of money. Apple does this so that can get there 30% cut. And what’s even more bad is you can not import or export your data you know my data. You can say what you want but this is a real rip off! Apple has not been the same since SJ died, it’s all about how much money they rip you off for. That are the new Microsoft. I will continue to use my real dive computer. It’s like buying a car but you have to pay a subscription to use the engine..Version: 1.0.5

Not entirely impressedI purchased the one year plan and took it to the Honduras to dive. The phone app won’t recognize my subscription despite my efforts. I’m still listed as “free” so not able to use full functionality. Subscription is pricey as well and I understand you cannot download your dives to save them if you cancel. One dive was recorded as 2. And the no-deco times vary between it and mine slightly, due to the algorithm likely. Safety stop times vary slightly. Some good points are definitely there, and I’m sure will be improved overall as they find and repair bugs like every app out there. The haptics notification and view are very nice and easy to read I always used a back up computer as well so I have the dives recorded on my database. I Haven’t decided that this is the best option for me, but will be a good back up option..Version: 1.0.6

Hopefully some upgrades to comeWorks fine I only want it for free diving so I use the snorkelling mode , the main reason I wear a watch is for surface intervals and it doesn't show that unfortunately.Version: 1.0.8

Bad tasteAs something that was presented as a key feature in a long video just to realise it adds hundreds of £ to the Apple Watch ultra to use it as a dive computer is shocking. Bad move from the company and apple..Version: 1.0.4

No subscription option missingThere needs to be a no subscription offering for scuba. Pay once for the standard dive features. For all of the social and extended feature that have ongoing costs to support they could be under a subscription..Version: 1.1.0

Dangerous!Did one dive with watch. One hour surface interval. Forty five minutes into my second dive it switches to snorkel mode! Happens to be the monthly renewal date which was in auto renewal (and paid). So in some bizarre and dangerous way when it hit the exact one month time in basically shutdown. So not only this dive is aborted but given the common flaw people have already commented on numerous times it locks out SCUBA when a dive occurs while Snorkeling. So basically the computer is unavailable the rest of my trip. I have had many dive computers over my 35 years and 3652 dives but non I have seen with these sort of flaws. This is app is not a substitute for a dive computer. Do not count on it as your primary device!. Luckily I was testing it against my Suunto Eon Steel and have that for the trip. There are multiple other flaws in its calculations (eg. Distinguishing surface swim and dive time) and operations (eg. Occasionally not turning on). It’s a toy right now..Version: 1.0.8

There should be a way to deactivate automatic surface modeOut of 3 dives, the watch has gone on surface mode at the wrong time all 3 times. They were all shallow dives, which I think explains why the app went into surface mode. Once it happened at the beginning of the dive, so I went out to restart it. A second time it happened mid-dive, which means the dive was not logged completely. The third time it happened even before the dive started, but I didn’t notice until I was down, and because it was a night dive I didn’t want to go out and separate from my buddy, so the whole dive the watch was on surface mode. I have a deep dive today, and I’m expecting the same to happen, which means I cannot trust the app to even log my dive. I wish surface mode could be activated manually, or that there was a way to do a quick restart of the dive (long press of the action button perhaps?) when you’re down and can’t use the screen..Version: 1.0.6

Not impressedJust bought a series 8 Apple for diving The watch is fine but the Oceanic app needs work. I have other oceanic products that I really like and work great. The watch is stuck in snorkel mode and can switch it. It should be automatic when you go in the water. Also i cant download some of the dives to the app. Don’t understand why. Last thing, you should be able to change the snorkeling to dive once its on the app..Version: 1.1.0

Nothing unless you payIt’s funny how the apple blurb implies you get some basic functionality of a dive computer with the app but you don’t. Unless you pay a (overpriced) subscription you really get nothing. Make it reasonable and I’d consider using it otherwise I’ll just stick with my Sunnto thanks. Don’t waste your time installing..Version: 1.0.6

Absolute rip offOne of the reasons I bought the Apple Watch ultra was to also use it as a dive computer. I’m an instructor and have used many computers over the years. This app looked like it had some potential but it’s an absolute rip off! They are asking for 110 dollars for a yearly subscription or $12.50 monthly. You can only use the Scuba functionality if you subscribe, the only free option is for Snorkelling. I can see a reasonable amount being charged but this is gouging on a whole other level..Version: 1.0.6

Overall Good - needs fixes and addl featuresJust used this on my apple watch ultra for the first time this week for some dives. Experience: Great, when it worked. My issue: I started the dive on the surface, which then waits for me to hit the water. My dive buddy had an issue with her tank prior to the dive, so I helped her with it.. before jumping in, I looked at the watch and it was still ready. It seems it had a countdown (likely 5 min) which it did not show or illustrate, and the 5 min timer ran in the background. I believe it timed out just as I jumped in the water, and now the watch was stuck in surface mode (same as post dive) for my entire dive, and captured no data. For my 2nd dive, I started the dive mode just as I was jumping in (at the edge of the boat) and it was great, all went well. Please update this to show some countdown until surface mode begins, and/or make it so that if it notices you go under water after surface mode begins, it automatically starts a new dive. I already had this set for the auto launch app, but that didn’t matter since the app was already running. Would also love the ability to manually add dives to the logbook (and use this as my primary logbook) or ability to export dives from the oceanic+ logbook to other apps. I need to have ONE place to log all my dives (incl past dives, and in this case a manually entered dive since the first didn’t get logged).Version: 1.0.6

Disappointing - don’t waste your time and moneyI purchased the Apple Watch ultra for scuba diving specifically. The idea of not needing a separate dive computer was really appealing. Unfortunately it doesn’t and probably won’t have air integration, so that’s a bummer and a nonstarter for me, so I ended up buying a shearwater perdix 2 and planned on using my watch/oceanic as a backup dive computer… the problem is that it always goes into snorkeling mode, locking out scuba mode making it completely worthless. There is required, extra subscription for scuba diving just to not be able to actually use it is just a slap in the face… Bottom line - get a real dive computer and don’t waste your time/money on this. The Apple Watch ultra has a bunch of other cool bells and whistles that make it a cool thing to have… just not for scuba diving..Version: 1.0.9

Just buy a dive computer! This is app does not turn your smart watch into a dive computer. The watch has far too many failings if you are going to use it for that. You have to manually turn the dive app on bonfire you enter the water. Forget and you run the risk of missing however long it takes you to notice. Unlike every other dive gauge and dive computer on the market which turn on the second you hit the water. Another issue is the annual cost. You only need to save the cost of five year’s subscription and you can buy a purpose made device. Don’t get me wrong, it is another use case for the Apple Watch Ultra, but not one I would ever recommend anyone uses as a life critical device..Version: 1.1.4

Poorly executedSet up automatic launch of the app when entering the water, and when pressing the action button. Paid for a one-day subscription to try it out. Pressed the action before the dive and began descending. It recorded the dive as a snorkel, but knows I was diving, so now locked out of scuba mode for 24 hours. Account says one day subscription active, but also says scuba mode not available. Useless when you’re already 14 m down and realise it hasn’t engaged scuba mode as set..Version: 1.0.5

IssuesFirst and foremost, DAN (Divers Alert Network) offers a more liberal option of having different “No Fly Times” based on recorded dives, this is too confusing and quite frankly dangerous for the average diver trying to remember conflicting information. I’m a NAUI Instructor and teach that you should have a “No Fly Time” of 24hrs, regardless of dives completed. The user should have that option of choosing the DAN computations or a 24hr option. Oceanic also has to remember that most, if not all of their non-air integrated or air-intergrated computers are also using this 24 hour rule as well. This also is the same for about 99% of the computers that are on the market. Change this so the user has the choice based on their training. Also, there’s no reason whatsoever why this app can’t automatically go into dive mode once pressure is detected. Most people will not remember to go through all the steps needed to start the app before the dive. You can automatically have the app launch but that’s based on pressure being detected, by that time you’re already underwater and it’s water locked. This needs to change. All dive computers automatically start the dive..Version: 1.0.8

Used it as a backup glad it wasn't my primaryI gave the app a try and was glad it wasn't my only option. As I wore it over my wetsuit I needed to enter my device pin several times. Not an easy thing with gloves on. Also the second dive didn't start at all, and I didn't notice until I was at 9m (as I said it wasn't my primary). I'm glad I haven't paid for the year subscription. Hope it gets better soon, would be nice to be able to sync to strava or paid for dive logging..Version: 1.1.0

Doesn’t workCan’t login to the app so totally unusable. This app was one of the reasons I bought the Apple Ultra, regretting that decision now. I already have the latest version (1.04), it still doesn’t work. I would really like to try the app, very disappointed, still 1 star..Version: 1.0.4

Fails at the first hurdleCannot even start using the app. I chose “sign up” after launch and the screen layout on my iPhone 13 Pro will not let me scroll down to complete signup after choosing my date. I am stuck and unable to create an account. Has nobody tested this before release? Shockingly poor quality for such a high-profile app. I would give it zero stars if I could. I’ll stick to my Suunto which needs no subscription payments, works reliably, has months of battery life and even lets you monitor remaining air in the cylinder wirelessly. EDIT: Updated the app to the latest version based on developer feedback stating the issue was resolved, but no, it still won’t let me sign up. I enter my date of birth and try to scroll down to the “Next” button; but the screen immediately rubber-bands back, so I cannot tap that “Next” button to get past the first screen of the sign up process. This is on an iPhone 13 Pro..Version: 1.0.5

SCAM - DO NOT USEFirst of all - the subscription is joke. You can take a long walk off a short plank you blood sucking thieves. Garmin don’t charge a sub do they? Secondly - I quote from their own privacy policy - think of it what you will: We may share Your personal information in the following situations: With business partners: We may share Your information with Our business partners to offer You certain products, services or promotions..Version: 1.0.6

Very poor sync implementationThe Oceanic+ app on Apple Watch Ultra requires an expensive subscription to use. I’ve been unable to find out what happens if you have more than 12 logbook entries then stop paying: do current entries remain? Do all but 12 go away? That probably doesn’t matter, though, since logbook entries won’t sync to my iPhone beyond the first dive anyway. I’ve paid for an annual subscription, rebooted, etc. it took mere moments to sync my Shearwater computer to the Shearwater app or to MacDive or Subsurface. I can now easily review the 3 dives I made earlier today on my Shearwater but NOT the same dives made on my AWU using Oceanic +. I find it astonishing that Huish Outdoors feels they can charge a subscription for dive software that doesn’t sync to any other device..Version: 1.1.3

TerribleThree dives in and only 1 recorded. Not a happy camper.Version: 1.0.6

Why do you need to pay to use a dive computerThe app looks brilliant and I like the concept. I agree with the previous point that why would you have to pay for something where its main function is diving? There must be an alternative costing method you can use other than a subscription service..Version: 1.0.4

Unreliable, not to be used as a primary computerI like the app when it works, but twice now I have had it not recognize that I paid for the app and it locked me out of SCUBA mode. The most recent time on a live aboard trip in Mexico where there was no cell service. It had worked fine the days prior so I left my other computer on the boat. I discovered that it wouldn’t go into scuba mode as we were about to drop in the water and dove in snorkel mode to keep track of my time. Unfortunately, this then locks you out of scuba mode for 24 hours. Which ruined my repetitive dive tracking. Fortunately we were diving nitrox or it could have been much worse. I’m giving up on this app, it’s kind of a shame, but I can’t trust it so it’s kind of pointless.Version: 1.1.1

Can’t sign in.Signing with Apple account doesn’t work..Version: 1.0

I mean, I guess it worksBut wow is this a frustrating app to use. I’m an Instructor, so obviously I want a fancy dive computer as I dive frequently. Things wrong: - To start, it will crash 2-3 times when you open it. That’s embarrassing. - It never remembers my units so when I’m showing my logbook it’ll make me go and update it on my watch. - Even with the subscription, sometimes it thinks you don’t have an active subscription so it’ll restrict you to snorkelling. You’re in the water, so what are you going to do to change that. - BATTERY LIFE. I’m genuinely impressed that this app can kill the entire watch battery in a day. 100% charge, and you’ll be lucky to make it last the day. Especially on snorkelling mode or if you’re up and down. Like you do teaching, for example. - Lastly, and this is more of a suggestion, can we please have a pool mode?? I’m an instructor, so I’m up and down and all around for many hours in the pool and it *might* register 15 mins or so. More likely is that it will get into a mode where it won’t do dive mode because it wants a setting, and I can’t change it because I have to pay attention to my students. I was so excited for this app, because dive computers have needed innovative for years. This is a start, but wow is there a long way to go..Version: 1.0.8

This needs to change. What can I say. 2 stars for this. & I’m sorry but you don’t expect to buy a dive computer & have to pay for monthly fee just to use its main features. Disgusting. & on top of that. Your apps broken still after another update. It’s still not working. Shocking releases of this app to say the least. With the wait we had & this. No thank you..Version: 1.0.3

Snorkeling mode at 18m depth? 🤔I have been excited about the Apple Watch Ultra, and this oceanic app for months. I paid for the one day trial that I expected to have full scuba functionality. However, both of my dives were logged as snorkeling (even though they measure the maximum depth at 18 m) so the logbook doesn’t look anything like the demo log for Hawaii featured in the App. I did like the way the watch worked under water. But it’s very disappointing that I can’t edit my logs to be scuba dives, and not snorkeling sessions. It was not clear how to start it at the beginning of my die so that it would log a dive and I still don’t know how to do that. In summary, everything looks nice, but my feedback is that the scuba versus snorkeling molds are extremely confusing and not easy to set..Version: 1.0.6

Paid for app it doesn’t record anything now. UselessHad two dives today on both occasions app defaulted to snorkelling mode instead of scuba. This is the same as many other reviews. It is a shame as the screen and depth is accurate compared to my normal 9 year old dive computer. Since I paid for app even snorkeling isn’t recorded or syncs to phone. So not only don’t you get a dive time and maximum depth you get absolutely nothing recorded. The developers has stated the app is intended to new divers. With out the app functioning it becomes dangerous for new divers as no data is recorded. It doesn’t go into scuba mode. So when surfacing no warning for coming up too fast or even a timer for a safety stop. I am extremely concerned that the app is still allowed to be sold when there are many reviews exactly the same as mine. Apple has invested a lot of money to market and create the Ultra Watch however it isn’t useful as the scuba mode doesn’t work. The watch has a amazing screen which would be useful if it actually worked. I guess I only wasted $1.49 so not a big deal. I would have been ignored if I paid the 129 subscription as it just doesn’t function as advertised. My 9 year old Atom 3.0 with transmitter is still going strong and is more reliable than this app. I don’t know what has gone wrong as the company that owns oceanic make some of the worlds best dive computers. They have come up well short in this product. This app should be withdrawn from the App Store as it doesn’t perform as advertised which is concerning when scuba diving. A new diver could be injured or dive day ruined as app has failed to sync or enter scuba mode..Version: 1.0.8
