Into the Breach for Negative User Reviews

Netflix paywallLove the game, willing to buy it again on iPad like FTL eve I own it on PC already. But behind Netflix paywall? No thanks! #cancelnetflix.Version: 1.0

Amazing Game - Fix Network RequirementThis is a great game and I would play lots of money for it given the chance. But it’s free with Netflix so that’s fine too - but I can’t play it on a plane! So, so disappointing. FTL is my current go to and I wanted to sink my teeth into this one over a long flight. Alas, it won’t open even if I was logged in before. Please fix this. It is ridiculous. Or let me pay for the port separately..Version: 1.0.2

You need to pay for netflix to playJust… why??.Version: 1.2.85

Login error, doesn’t work!Error 88, can’t login to play.Version: 1.0

Progress does not sync between devicesI’m disappointed to find that progress between my iPad and iPhone is not shared. There does not appear to be any cloud-save functionality, which is a must for mobile games. I have been hoping for a long while that Into The Breach would come to iOS like FTL did. I am disappointed it is tied to a subscription service and I can’t purchase it outright. I held off playing this game on PC because I knew it would be a better experience on my tablet or phone, but I didn’t expect these shortcomings..Version: 1.0.1

Turns off musicLike heaps of people I like to listen to music while I play. Big nope. Turn your music off & only audio you can use is game music & effects. Fail. On that alone..Version: 1.0.2

Latest update removed offline supportOne of my favourite puzzle games of all time makes for an excellent commute companion. However, the latest update removed offline functionality. Please bring this back!.Version: 1.0.1

Final island crashYes. Obviously this is brilliant. However now three times in a row it has crashed for me on the final island. All three times when clearing all islands before and all three times just when the floating vec emerges from the ground. Lets me reload and continue ONCE and then it happens again, losing the continue option. So i guess technically its crashed six times for me. Gettin annoyed now.Version: 1.0.1

Cloud saves please! Why no cloud saves have to start again on ever device or if I get a new device!? excellent game ruined by bad support!.Version: 1.2.85

Can’t listen to musicEven with “mute all audio” checked, this app shuts off my music as soon as I’m in it. So many other apps have figured this out — can you please fix it?.Version: 1.0.1

Don't use while travellingWill randomly decide you no longer have access to the game. terrible way to release the game on ios. please free this wonderful game from the clutches of netflix..Version: 1.2.89

Still more bugs to squishI’ve been playing Into The Breach through Steam Link and was surprised to see Netflix sponsored an iPhone port. When I plugged in my controller I was surprised to see my Backbone controller mostly worked with the game! Mostly. The right press to see turn order doesn’t work, as well as the start and select buttons to open the menu or display turn order. Those were minor bugs. The biggest issue for me is that even if I turn the sound in the game off, Into The Breach interrupts any music or podcasts I have playing. If you went back in time and squashed those bugs I would give this game a perfect score..Version: 1.0.1

Update deleted my saveI love Into the Breach and was beyond excited to have it on mobile. I don’t believe this issue is Subset’s fault but rather the fact that Netflix won’t allow you to back up saves to iCloud. After putting hours into the iOS version I updated the game only to be prompted to pick my Netflix profile upon booting the game and finding that my save had been erased. I’ll be going back to the Switch version..Version: 1.0.1

Can’t LaunchInstantly crashes at login screen..Version: 1.0.2

Cannot play while offlineThe game refuses to start when offline. Starting the game beforehand helps, but if you use another app and go back to the game it’s over..Version: 1.0.1

No sound on not 1 but 2 iPads, requires Netflix account?I’m ok ‘activating’ the game once with Netflix but it looks like I’m going to need to be an indefinite subscriber to access the game. That’s madness. The lack of sound is the clincher tho. I love FTL, eager to try this but it literally has no sound, it’s currently unplayable..Version: 1.0

Netflix RequiredI love Into the Breach on Steam and Nintendo Switch. It is ridiculous to lock it down to a Netflix account, which I have no interest in. Players are almost guaranteed to lose their save file eventually, you can’t play it offline, and players won’t “own” this game as soon as Netflix removes it from their list. Get out of the Netflix money grab and just sell this game for us loyal players to own, Subset Games. You’ve sold out, and this is going to likely be the end of your greatness as a nearly perfect “independent” developer. You’re going to be just another developer scrambling for maximum money. Sad to see..Version: 1.2.88

Netflix accountGame is locked behind a Netflix account. This is an amazing game but somehow it’s now behind a Netflix paywall, I don’t have or want a Netflix account so I can’t play a game I bought?.Version: 1.2.90

NeedsGreat game, this is the third platform that I’ve gotten this game on. I would give this 5 stars if you could listen to your own music/podcasts while playing. I’m guessing it has something to do with Netflix not letting g that happen, but idk that’s just a guess. There were a few crashes but I’m sure that’s something that they will work out. Fix the sound and I think it will be great, it’s about time they brought this to mobile..Version: 1.0.1

Game won't openOpen the app, get a Netflix logo, and then a black screen that never progresses. Reinstalled, restarted, no change. App is broken on my 13 Pro Max..Version: 1.0.1

Amazing game but ruined by needing a constant internet connectionInto the beach is an addictive strategy game but the need for a constant internet connection is dumb. and the game doesn’t even sync save data, so what the point?.Version: 1.0.2

Much too hard for casual playEven on the easiest difficulty setting there are too many enemies for casual play. I realize some people want a very hard game to challenge them, but for me I don't want to dedicate the time and concentration. I think there's a simple fix. If the Easy level were changed so that you don't lose reactor cores when you die it would be possible to gradually increase mech power until it's an enjoyable balance. The reason I didn't find it fun was that I kept losing all progress and replaying the same tiny amount of gameplay over and over again. Allowing the player to keep accumulating reactor cores instead of losing them every time you die would make it so that you aren't completely starting over..Version: 1.2.85

Fun game, but one unacceptable flaw in the mobile portFor whatever reason, whenever someone calls you, the game closes itself (even if you don’t pick up). This means that you have to continue from the main menu, which wouldn’t be a big deal if it just restarted the battle, but instead it brings you back to the beginning of your turn and automatically expends your one turn reset. Annoying, but it really gets bad if you’re unlucky enough to have already used your turn reset or get called twice, because then the game considers your run over and you have to start a new game..Version: 1.0.1

Unbalanced Mess of a “Game”This is the worst balanced game ever conjured. I’ve played Civ 5 & 6 on Deity for years, yet this game’s “easy” mode is neigh on impossible. The objectives for the level are designed so that you cannot get all (or even some of them) without playing in an EXTREMELY specific way, as in you would have to do exactly what the developers did when designing the level. What’s the fun in that when you have all that room to play around with? Ridiculous that I wasted my time trying to get all of the stars/objectives per level only to be slapped in the face with the developers’ blatant stupidity in trying to “balance” this game. Skip this and buy XCOM instead, that’s a game made by people who’ve actually played the product they made. Would give negative stars if possible..Version: 1.2.89

Terrible wasteWhy take a piece of art as good as this game and hold it hostage so that no one can play it without paying monthly for it? Just give it back to the developers so that it can receive the attention it deserves.. Netflix, you and your profiteering business model are unworthy...Version: 1.0.2

A great game with flaws iOS implementationThe game itself is brilliant as ever, including the new DLC, but as others have stated the always online and music/podcast pausing make it a subpar mobile experience.Version: 1.0.1

Great game, locked behind a Netflix subscriprionI'd be happy to purchase this great game so I could play it on my iPad, but not if it's a monthly subscription to a service I'm not interested in. I understand why Netflix are doing this, but still, it's a bummer..Version: 1.2.89

Into the breach not working IOS 16From what I’ve played before I updated to IOS 16 on my iPhone 13 it was great! However, since I updated my iPhone 13 to IOS 16 Into the Breach does not launch! Please fix!.Version: 1.0.2

Really not a fan of subscription based games. This is a really fun game on pc, a solid 4/5 in my opinion. That said I’d rather just buy it than subscribe. Update, won’t launch on my iPhone but works fine on my iPad with public beta 16.Version: 1.0.1

Developers have become highly ignorantAbsolutely pathetic that the develops of Sunk so low to put this with Netflix. Netflix is already garbage the people who made this game of the people who made faster than light two of my most favorite games of all time I never in 1 million years would I thought the developers would’ve made such a highly ignorant decision i’m honestly left without words they could’ve made this game $10 easy it’s a masterpiece but now we got a sign into Netflix to play it I’ve lost all respect for the ignorant developers this is pathetic and embarrassing..Version: 1.2.85

Too small on iPhone 12While it’s a really faithful conversion to mobile and plays well, everything is too small on my iPhone 12. Need an option to zoom in to see what’s going on. At the moment it’s too frustrating to play.Version: 1.0.2

Unable to play on the planeThis was a real tick-off. Found a game that I really enjoyed and figured I could kill some time on the flight… nope! Netflix passcode needed, while I had it, it didn’t submit without internet. What an absolute slap in the face..Version: 1.0.2

HORRRIBLE that Netflix is holding this game hostageThis is an amazing game, no one question, I have bought it on multiple other platforms and would have been happy to spend even 20$ for it on IOS but Netflix is a terrible company I have no internet in giving money too. Honestly it’s a shame.Version: 1.2.89

Doesn’t workCan’t login. I double checked all my info: username, password. I get an error code 3***. Looks like Netflix dropped the ball again. I would suggest skipped this dumb Netflix version and purchasing it through steam on desktop..Version: 1.0.1

Frozen Titans BrokenCan’t purchase the Frozen Titans.Version: 1.0

Not workingIt won't let me login, it says that my password is incorrect however I'm using the same details as my Netflix account.Version: 1.0

No offline play :(Absolutely love this game but being unable to play offline is super frustrating. If it could just allow you to be offline for a day to play when travelling and log back in when reconnected it would be much better.Version: 1.0.1

No offline playI play solely on my IPad and mostly during my commute. Please add an option for offline. Maybe a 24h time window after logging in?.Version: 1.0.2

Keeps logging me out.I found this game while scrolling through the available games on Netflix, I downloaded and gave it a try. I’ve been absolutely loving it, its very well put together, good gameplay and hasn’t got boring or repetitive at all. But its logged me out about 3 times forcing me to sign back in with my Netflix account. This isn’t even when i open the game either, i will be mid mission and it kicks me out and asks for my login and password. Fix this. Its completely ruining a good gameplay experience..Version: 1.2.92

Great game! but...This game is great and surprised to find out it pis available with Netflix account. I could spend hours playing this game and it's of ease of being able to pick up where you left off at any moment is definitely a plus. Also, no micro transactions! The way a single player game is meant to be played! My one main complaint, and reason for writing this review, is that I AM UNABLE TO PLAY THIS GAME OFFLINE. I am on the plane with no internet access. I decided to kill some time by playing this game, thinking that there is no need for it to access the internet. After opening the app, it asks me to choose a profile (mine) but could not continue to the main menu because the internet is not available. Seriously? In this day in age when an authentication token could be persisted on the mobile for several days? Even I could open Netflix offline. Developers, please make this experience better. I have faith in you! You guys are great!.Version: 1.0.1

Avoid this versionGame is phenomenal but Netflix paywall give it star.Version: 1.2.90

Not a game for completionistsIf you’re the kind of person who likes to get a perfect score on every level and complete every mission objective in the games you play, this game is not for you. I find the game to be extremely difficult, and can really only play it on easy mode. Normal mode is basically unplayable unless you’re ok with consistently failing mission objectives and losing more often than you win. There isn’t even a way to restart a level and try again, you only get the option to completely start the whole game over. From the other reviews, it’s clear that many people like this game, so I think it’s just that the game doesn’t match well with my particular style of game play..Version: 1.0.2

Great game, horrible publisher. The game itself is amazing, and the developers who made it deserve the credit for it. However, I absolutely disagree with monthly subscription based monetization. Consumers already have things expensive enough as it is, and Netflix has been a good example recently on how corporate profits take priority over the consumer. I would happily play and buy this game if it was published on iOS by the developers themselves and nothing went to netflix..Version: 1.0

Couldn’t log in to Netflix account through the game…… so I couldn’t play it at all. Garbage..Version: 1.2.85

Netflix / Offline play limitedI think Into the Breach is one of the best games ever made. Top 5. This port is great, it’s an awesome implementation with only a few crashes so far that I’m sure will get ironed out. However - linking to Netflix, a subscription I’d like to get rid of, without any way to just buy the full edition, sucks. I own this on steam, switch, and would have been willing to buy it on iOS, but here we are. The other problem is that there’s no offline mode with any of the Netflix platform stuff so if I don’t have a wifi enabled flight I can’t play this game. You can start the game before you take off, and if it doesn’t crash then you can play it, but it’s not great..Version: 1.0.2

Nasty bug and this is a bad game to have this bug.Multiple times I've had a bug wherein I couldn't move my mech to a certain square. It's happened at least 5 times. And anyone who plays this game knows that would drive you nuts. Please fix it then 5 stars..Version: 1.2.85

Amazing game, buggy portEvery strategy or tactics enthusiast should try this game on Mac or PC. It’s incredibly well-designed. This game is a roguelike with permadeath and procedurally generated maps. It’s fully single player with no pay to win or microtransactions. This game is perfect. All that being said, the port to mobile is extremely buggy. It’s sad to see such an incredible game riddled with errors, like the bug where nothing on-screen is responsive and I have to exit to my home screen and open the app again. Happens about 3x per battle..Version: 1.2.85

Won’t LaunchApp won’t launch at all, instantly quits upon opening..Version: 1.0.2

Can’t play if you don’t subscribe to NetflixThere are no films or tv programmes on Netflix that make me want to fork out for a monthly subscription &, because of that, I’m not even allowed to pay for this iOS game to play on my iOS device? What a selfish & pointless business model..Version: 1.0.1

For Netflix Accounts OnlyI love the developers, and have enjoyed both FTL and Into The Breach on PC. Leaving fans like me out in the cold because we don’t have/want a Netflix subscription is unkind and unnecessary. I would have happily bought this game a second time for the convenience of playing on my phone, but that’s not an option. Subscriptions were bad enough, but letting streamers lock games for the sake of exclusivity and revenue share is simply ridiculous. People want to buy a game; let them buy the game. This Netflix deal may benefit the developers (and Netflix) now, but it puts me off having anything to do with them in the future..Version: 1.2.85

Good port but problemsGood port but I can’t listen to music/podcast while playing? Please sort this out, it’s such a major feature flaw.Version: 1.0.1

Confusing and requires Netflix subscriptionLots of game features lack explanation, easy mode is actually difficult, and if you want to play you need a Netflix subscription.Version: 1.2.88

Cannot play offlineBought this for a long flight. Booted it up and I couldn’t start playing because no WiFi. Makes me login to Netflix. I didn’t have WiFi so couldn’t play. Also I don’t actually have a Netflix account. Especially annoying when I paid for the app.Version: 1.2.85

Always onlineThis was a fantastic indie game and an instant cult classic in the same vein as FTL and Slay the Spire. It was just screaming to be ported to mobile. And it was… but a bitter sweet sorrow I’m afraid. NETFLIX bought the mobile publishing rights and to play you have to have a sub with them and always be online to play; a game mind you that has no multi player in any capacity whatsoever. A sad story for a great single player game that would have been awesome on the mobile platform..Version: 1.2.88

Game won’t even open.IPhone 11 Pro Max. Big N flashes to let me know who has my money then the game crashes. Thanks..Version: 1.0.1
