All three times when clearing all islands before and all three times just when the floating vec emerges from the ground. ✓ Still more bugs to squishI’ve been playing Into The Breach through Steam Link and was surprised to see Netflix sponsored an iPhone port. When I plugged in my controller I was surprised to see my Backbone controller mostly worked with the game! Mostly. The right press to see turn order doesn’t work, as well as the start and select buttons to open the menu or display turn order. Those were minor bugs. The biggest issue for me is that even if I turn the sound in the game off, Into The Breach interrupts any music or podcasts I have playing. I don’t believe this issue is Subset’s fault but rather the fact that Netflix won’t allow you to back up saves to iCloud. After putting hours into the iOS version I updated the game only to be prompted to pick my Netflix profile upon booting the game and finding that my save had been erased. I realize some people want a very hard game to challenge them, but for me I don't want to dedicate the time and concentration. I think there's a simple fix. If the Easy level were changed so that you don't lose reactor cores when you die it would be possible to gradually increase mech power until it's an enjoyable balance. The reason I didn't find it fun was that I kept losing all progress and replaying the same tiny amount of gameplay over and over again. This means that you have to continue from the main menu, which wouldn’t be a big deal if it just restarted the battle, but instead it brings you back to the beginning of your turn and automatically expends your one turn reset. ✓ Unbalanced Mess of a “Game”This is the worst balanced game ever conjured. I’ve played Civ 5 & 6 on Deity for years, yet this game’s “easy” mode is neigh on impossible. The objectives for the level are designed so that you cannot get all (or even some of them) without playing in an EXTREMELY specific way, as in you would have to do exactly what the developers did when designing the level. What’s the fun in that when you have all that room to play around with? Ridiculous that I wasted my time trying to get all of the stars/objectives per level only to be slapped in the face with the developers’ blatant stupidity in trying to “balance” this game. I’ve been absolutely loving it, its very well put together, good gameplay and hasn’t got boring or repetitive at all. ✓ Not a game for completionistsIf you’re the kind of person who likes to get a perfect score on every level and complete every mission objective in the games you play, this game is not for you. I find the game to be extremely difficult, and can really only play it on easy mode. Normal mode is basically unplayable unless you’re ok with consistently failing mission objectives and losing more often than you win. There isn’t even a way to restart a level and try again, you only get the option to completely start the whole game over. This port is great, it’s an awesome implementation with only a few crashes so far that I’m sure will get ironed out. However - linking to Netflix, a subscription I’d like to get rid of, without any way to just buy the full edition, sucks. I own this on steam, switch, and would have been willing to buy it on iOS, but here we are. The other problem is that there’s no offline mode with any of the Netflix platform stuff so if I don’t have a wifi enabled flight I can’t play this game. ✓ Always onlineThis was a fantastic indie game and an instant cult classic in the same vein as FTL and Slay the Spire. It was just screaming to be ported to mobile.
