Epocrates for Negative User Reviews

Useful but...I ended up paying for a subscription for full functionality. Needs a more aesthetically pleasing interface and international names for medications. Many people do pay for the upgrade so I feel that this is the very least Epocrates could do..Version: 0

Useful Resource, Search function malfunction?I enjoyed using Epocrates for med information and decided to get to pay for plus. The strange part is that under my account info, it says I’m an Epocrates Plus account. However, when I search for diseases that should be unlocked with my plus account, it tells me I need to subscribe for the monthly subscription. If I navigate to find the disease without using the search function, I can accessed it..Version: 20.9.3

Nearly useless for AustraliaDoesn't even contain "Paracetamol", you have to buy the paid version to look up "Tylenol", and packaging indicators are often entirely different. First app I've actually deleted off my iPhone and I have very many..Version: 0

LameShouldn't need to register, so I deleted it first thing.Version: 0

Need some serious updatesThis application shut down as soon I agree to the terms conditions. Don't download it!.Version: 4.4

Slow!!!I used to be able to quickly review data and even pricing estimates. Not sure what happened but now the app takes on average 10-20 seconds to load, and pricing seems to be consistently unavailable. No, it’s not the phone as all other apps load promptly. Also, when it finally does load it then jumps into the notifications screen then takes another 10-20 seconds to return to the main program. Meanwhile, the Medscape app which I now use much more loads in 3-5 seconds. If you’re reading this a word to the wise, if the paid version of this app is as slow and cumbersome as the free version consider using another app..Version: 18.5.1

Boo hoo Dr. OzI was so excited after watching The Dr. Oz show about this app. Unfortunately the app will not open up... Same problems as ev1... Asking for a e-mail and password without a opportunity to input one.... :-(.Version: 4.5

Using for yearsIn ten years I can count the number of times I have left an app review on the App Store on one hand. I’ve used this app since I was a medical student on clinical rotations about 10 years ago. I’ve loved to see it progress and improve over this time. It’s my go to resource when looking up diagnosis and treatments. However I have a few issues, like other folks have said here when opening the app taking you straight to the notifications, I’d rather just go to the Home Screen. I know a search bar is present but I’d prefer to get to the Home Screen. Or better yet directly into the search bar with the keyboard open so I can just start typing for my query. I also would like a running list of all my searches that I can scroll down if I know I’ve recently searched for an item so I can select it rather than type it out. As it stands now the search list is rather short and disappears after awhile. Additionally I would love to see support for dark mode / true black. Theme switching has been a part of iOS for the last 1-2 years now and many apps that are on a shoestring budget can implement dark mode but I’m not sure why Epocrates can’t or wont. Despite these misgivings I plan on continuing to use Epocrates as long as I still practice clinical medicine..Version: 20.9.2

Dr.s onlyAfter downloading this app and spending ages to register and update, you have to subscribe to access the info. How can that be free?.Version: 3.14

Has potentialPromising app for even the average joe to reference details of medical frogs. Having to create account is annoying maybe have some of more common drug info as basic data with the app then others access web services..Version: 0

Latest version is hosedI got an email from the developer several days ago stating that the crash bug has been fixed, but the update has yet to appear in the Canadian App Store. In the meantime, this app is now completely useless..Version: 4.0.3

No longer supports any v. older than iOS 13I use(d) Epocrates many times per day until the latest update. I can no longer use it unless I buy a new iPhone that supports iOS 13. My current iPhone still works great, and I don’t mind using an older version of Epocrates, but when I get the pop up message stating it requires iOS 13, or choose to download an older version, it does not allow download of an older version. The app I had already been using is no longer functional, and forced me to update. This is very disappointing. I will be using another prescribing guide going forward..Version: 22.3.2

Worst application ever if u can't even open it without wifi/cellular receptionDon't ever install epocrates essential because you'll be asked to put in password and log in username everyday. And if you are in a hospital building with spotty Internet or cellular connection, then u can't even open the application at all and you might as well delete this application and install skyscape, which is better in this aspect. I understand the need to verify the password during the initial installation process, but to be asked to put in password almost everyday? This is just unnecessary. This is the same thing with other epocrates associated applications such as modality's procedures consult. Bottom line, insall skyscape or carry a more reliable printed pocket reference over this application..Version: 3.19

Broken functionalityLatest version of the app broke the functionality. I can no longer create or view favorites wry the app. My device setting are the same. The only thing that changed is the version of the app. Support is blaming the victim and gaslighting me into trying to debug their product, when the product has changed and broken functionality that worked previously. I guess I'm glad I was trying out the free version of the product before paying for it: I guess I'll go back to other products instead. Needless to say I'm very disappointed in their product and support. Blaming the user for engineering errors is bad form..Version: 23.5.2

IOS 7 supportSearch does not work..Version: 13.8

Good information, poor executionLong time user and subscriber since it became a paid service. Every year I lose access to the paid features and after a few months it is resolved and I just lose a few months of use. Frustrating for the cost to have poor service. Customer service approach has been new representative with each email, each response asks for same or similar information. At some point someone agrees that paid and should get service and fixes it, without explanation or resolution of possible future recurrence. No real feeling of making things right or understanding the problem. Zero stars for update execution and renewal other than their ability to accept my payment. App is good..Version: 18.9.2

FreezesWhen the App works, it’s great. I like that it’s easy to find information without having to read for 5 minutes. However, I find after I have searched something then come back to search something else, the app freezes and I can’t get to the “search” tab. The only thing that will open is the “notes”. I am a paid user. It is frustrating to have spent money on this and not be able to use it as intended. I have asked other users, that didn’t pay, and they said they don’t have that issue. Please fix the hang-up in the app. Paid users should be a priority..Version: 23.5.1

Good appGood app but should state price if need to pay for essentials. Needs obstetrics as choice and/ or midwifery. None of these are choices that should be available as interests..Version: 3.19

Not usefulUseless unless you pay $150/year for the full version. It's got a very limited list of meds on the free version I can't find 4 out of the 5 I'm on and they are pretty standard psychiatric meds.Version: 16.6

Totally useless to professionals!I try to refrain from leaving negative reviews but this is the second time I've been left "stuck" without an answer to a question relying on Epocrates' mobile app. I am a paying customer and I feel that the same quality that goes into your online version should be integrated into your useless mobile app. As a pharmacist I sometimes have questions about dosage forms, medication strengths, formulation types, etc etc. Case in point, today I needed to quickly determine which form of olopatidine is designed for once daily dosing v. twice daily dosing. Simple stuff. I type in Pataday. The mobile app shows "Pataday". I click on it just to be fed to a blank page that says "now OTC"!? Great, where's the other information. So I search generic name where it has so truncated the information that you can't really use it as needed. For example, it lists generic name then both strengths of olopatidine but doesn't differentiate which correlates to the brand, and in this case, drug strength you're looking for. It may sound trivial but this happens often using their mobile site. And don't get me started on finding pK info and any meaningful pregnancy and lactation information on the web app. I really think that for paying users you should create a web version of the online Epocrates platform. I found that very useful in pharmacy school, on rotations, etc. I need that as a mobile friendly version!.Version: 21.3

Does not work BugBug.Version: 20.10

Great app but!I am a resident physician and I rely on Epocrates heavily for my daily duties. I am already a paid user, and I was ok with that because of how useful the app is so I didn’t mind. It always bothered me that the first screen is always the newsfeed. I would like to be able to access whatever section I want without so many taps on the screen. But to add insult to injury, And what I do mind, is the introduction of “new mandatory ads” of certain “app sponsors” that pop up when I first open the app. As if what I am already paying as a user is not enough, and in order for the “new ads” to go away, I have to pay more. I would prefer the developers increasing the general subscription fee rather than introducing the ridiculous ads that pop up in the welcome screen or even introducing the higher category subscription. It is just so counterproductive and it takes an awful lot of time to get to what I want now with so many taps. More and more I am opting to use different apps like lexicomp, for which my institution offers a free of charge subscription, minus all the ads of course..Version: 18.3

Not an ideal app for AustraliansTook a few goes to get a registration password (website bug). Support team not helpful online and wanted me to call their toll free number in the US which I couldn't call from Australia. Looks promising however, all the drugs are American brands (ie. cannot search for Australian brand-names) and the brand and generic names are not linked. An example of a better listing would be the brand name with the generic in brackets: Dostinex (cabergoline) etc... Otherwise seems comprehensive..Version: 0

Terrible since updatesI am a nurse practitioner and I had used this app multiple times a week for quick reference. Within the past month, it has become terribly “buggy” and will freeze and not allow me to search for meds. It is sad when a multiple-step google search has become speedier than the app which is designed for only the task I am seeking to use it for. Please, put it back to the way it was before, these “bugs” render it useless... get this app some antibiotics STAT 🙄.Version: 20.10

Keep paying for zero accessI get Epocrates plus access through my institution, but after repeated frustrations trying to log in through the library, I caved and bought a subscription for myself thinking that would improve the apps recognition of my credentials. Wrong! My monthly subscription credentials never materialized. After trying to log in on every email I could think of all summer long, I bought a new subscription thinking maybe I was nuts. Nope, still zero access. Have poured nearly $300 (come on, that’s a lot for a grad student) into this resource and am no better off than I was going for free through my library. Come on, Epocrates. I’m trying to use you over your competitors and you’re not making it easy!!.Version: 21.9

I hate itVery frastrating apps. Slow, crushes and ask me to update when I want to find a drug in the middle of my duty! Pharmacopea is better, more stable and also contain more Canadian brands.Version: 4.0.2

How to get it to work even?Keeps telling me to click to finish install then a page comes up where I have to insert username and password? Where and what un&pw? Frustrating!.Version: 0

Beware falsification of credentials hackSeveral years ago I registered with this company and noticed my credentials were wrong raising questions by my employers. Epocrates blamed it on the AMA. The AMA had my correct credentials. Not sure what game they are playing so I closed my account. Recently I stupidly registered with them again to try this app again, and their site could not recognize my credentials. I then noticed on Google that my credentials were changed by numerous web sites to incorrect listings again. Clearly these “ratings” sites are in cahoots ( buying or sharing)with epocrates being given or creating false credentials by epocrates and then putting them on Google search indicating a person is not a physician. Epocrates is either deliberately falsifying credentials or unable to correct their incorrect information. I just signed up with them after years of complaints and within weeks my false information reappeared on Google. Think Facebook is bad, beware of your information if you voluntarily provide this company your credentials. I contacted them to erase my credentials and was told their would be no definite time frame and I should my lawyers contact their lawyers. Beware what to whom they are selling your info and if it is at all correct. May require a class action lawsuit for them to take this seriously..Version: 18.4

Good but...This app is good, and I’ve only had one complaint until today. The one complaint I’ve always had is the notifications page that automatically pops up every time I open the app. This is frustrating because there are already alerts in the app to tell you that you have new notifications (which I don’t use for anything anyway), and you have to wait for it to pop up to then have the option to close it out and get on with what you opened the app to look up. It just adds annoying extra clicks and takes extra time when you’re trying to get to something fast. The new annoyance with the app is that they are doing away with the DDx feature this month. This feature has been a constant go to for me in school for certain assignments, and our teachers even encouraged us to get the app to be able to use this feature at the beginning of our first year because it would come in so handy for some of the things they want us to do. Such a disappointment that they are suddenly getting rid of this. I turned to this app a lot over other apps because of this feature throughout school and still today, but I guess I will be rethinking my subscription to this app when I have others like it now..Version: 18.4

Freezing and crashingFor the last month or so, maybe the last update, about 50% of the time the app freezes or crashes, requiring me to quit the app and restart it. This essentially removes the ability for this app to work as a point of care tool. I am paying for a subscription to this. Making sure the application works is a baseline expectation. I am going to delete the app and reinstall and hopefully that will make life better, but I’m really not happy with how this app has changed in the last 2 years. Increasingly complicated menus and listings and it’s harder and harder to find what I want..Version: 18.6

OptimizationNeeds optimization for 6/6+ looks very ugly all zoomed.Version: 15.2

Greedy bunchAs a mostly retired but still licensed physician, I used Epocrates regularly to double check drug side effects and dosage, especially with new drugs. I also relied on several modules to confirm symptoms and to seek best courses of diagnosis. Suddenly, without any warning, my full subscription that I normally paid two years in advance became a lower tier were I lost many aspects I had already paid for. Now the want an upgrade, it is not that much, but it is the principle. I paid for a full subscription, and I should continue to receive what I paid for until my next subscription date. Anything else is a violation of the contract I entered into when I bought the subscription..Version: 22.5.2
